From the south side of the Jebel Aqra, comes the tale of Baal Sapon, and Yamm, the deified Sea (like Tiamat above). Fragmentary Ugaritic tablets, dated to the fourteenth or thirteenth-century BC, tell the story of the Canaanite storm-god Baal Sapon's battle against the monstrous Yamm on Mount Sapuna the Canaanite name for later Greeks’ Mount Kasios. Baal defeats Yamm with two throwing clubs (thunderbolts?) named ‘Expeller’ and ‘Chaser’, which fly like eagles from the storm-god's hands. Other tablets associate the defeat of the snaky Yamm with the slaying of a seven headed serpent ‘’Ltn’’ (Litan/Lotan), apparently corresponding to the biblical Leviathan.

The manga has been serialized in Shueisha's Fresh Jump in 1987–1988, and later published in the United States by ComicsOne (as Kabuto in 2001),Kabuto, Volume 1 in France by Taifu Comics, in the Republic of China by Tong Li Publishing and in Spain by Otakuland.

The album was greatly influenced by the band members' growing individual collections of African music as well as instruments from African and Chinese music, and is less abrasive and more mellow, mid-tempo and maturely paced than I Just Can't Stop It, which featured a punk rock-styled dense, hectic pace. Some fine set pieces - like the disciplined Kendo fight that degenerates into sadistic anarchy - and thoughtful camera-work serve to illustrate Fuller's gift for weaving a poetic nihilism out of his journalistic vision of urban crime." More recently, Ed Gonzales of Slant Magazine liked the film and wrote, "The opening is a triumph of grungy lyricism achieved through snaky cutting and blunt compositions: Sugar Torch (Gloria Pall), a stripper, is shot to death in the middle of a Los Angeles street after witnessing a murder inside her dressing room. The tenor of the film oscillates between tight-fisted noir and chamber drama, but the theme is always the same: cultural and romantic unrest.

The Forces of the Business Cycle, 1922 Rorty was inspired by the early work Wesley Clair Mitchell had published on business cycles, and in the 1920s became involved in specifying the processes involved in business cycles. The introduction to a 1921 interview with Rorty on this subject characterized the state of the art by then as follows: > Economic subjects subjects have become such a matter of popular interest > that even the “man on the street” knows in a general way that business moves > in cycles. He knows that when statisticians make a map or rather present a > picture 0f business variations covering a period of years the portrait is a > snaky curve that undulates up and down across an imaginary normal line, with > peaks representing “prosperity” and valleys representing “hard times.“ The > typical cycle, or one undulation of the snake, is shown in the accompanying > diagram, which is the work of one of Colonel Rorty’s associates.

Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel were re- designed as very fast snaky esses that proved to be even more challenging than the original series of corners – the considerable amount of lateral acceleration change from side to side became the highlighted challenge of the new circuit. A new twisty infield section called Luffield was created in place of the Farm straight and the Bridge chicane. Despite these alterations, the Grand Prix and World Sportscar circuses both very much approved of the new layout: Silverstone was still fast, which is what it has always been known for. When the Group C cars returned in 1991, they raced for the World Sports Car Championship, but the race distance was reduced to 269 miles (83 laps of the GP circuit) and it was a straight battle between Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz, with victory going to the Jaguar XJR14 of Teo Fabi and Derek Warwick at a speed of 122.048 mph. In second place, four laps behind, came the Mercedes C291 of Michael Schumacher and Karl Wendlinger, followed by the singleton driver XJR14 of Brundle.

Allmusic awarded the album 4 stars and the review by Sean Westergaard states "Although there's a hovering ambience to all these pieces, this isn't new agey ambience: the pieces are sometimes ominous or uneasy with Torn producing guitar-like tones and very un-guitar-like tones and sometimes manipulating the loops in a not-so-subtle way. ...Only Sky isn't an album that will appeal to everyone, but those interested in the outer limits of guitar and looping should check this one out". The All About Jazz review states, "Beyond all the usual suspects, Torn has long incorporated concepts from other cultures as well, whether it's in the snaky manner that he constructs Middle Eastern- informed phrases or his ability to use a whammy bar to create sonics that so resemble a human voice that the only other guitarist who can match him in this regard is Jeff Beck." The Guardian's John Fordham said "Only Sky, is a vast, stormy, sometimes folksy, sometimes splinteringly Hendrixian soundscape, created in real time by his guitar, electric oud and electronic gizmos alone, and it’s full of startling turns".
