This can occur because responding units must drive around freeways, lakes, or terrain obstructions in order to reach a zone. A centroid may be moved because 200-car freight trains often block a railroad crossing used to access a particular zone. This is the cheapest system to develop because it requires the least detailed geographic information and the simplest calculations. Another problem occurs where several services use the same system.

The route heads straight west until after the intersection of North Park Trail where it curves to the northwest. After a railroad crossing and the entrance to Giant Springs State Park and the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, the road curves to the southwest, generally following the south bank of the Missouri River. US 87 Bypass ends at US 87 south of the 15th Street Bridge, but River Drive North continues along the Missouri River through Riverside Park.
The 1901 Grays Ferry Bridge replaced the non-railroad functions of the Newkirk Viaduct. It carried automotive traffic and streetcars. By the end of the 19th century, the narrow Newkirk Viaduct was a roadway bottleneck. "Much of the traffic that would naturally cross the river at Gray's Ferry has been diverted to the South Street bridge because of the congested conditions that exist from morning until night at the railroad crossing," wrote the Philadelphia Record in 1900.
Effingham is an Amtrak intercity train station in Effingham, Illinois, United States . The station contains three houses, at the CSXT St. Louis Line Subdivision (ex-Pennsylvania Railroad) crossing that once served Amtrak's former National Limited line between Kansas City and either Washington D.C. or New York City until 1979. The station is a flag stop on the City of New Orleans route, served only when passengers have tickets to and from the station; the also stop here.
The newer I-64 uses Rockfish Gap, a lower elevation wind gap which was also selected for a vital railroad crossing by Virginia's legendary 19th century state engineer, Claudius Crozet. Even that crossing, at Afton Mountain, can be very treacherous, and has been particularly notorious for accidents during reduced periods of visibility, motivating the state to install an innovative pavement lighting system. East of the mountain, I-64 passes Charlottesville and has easy grades on its way to Richmond.
Pyro is killed after an unidentified stranger tows his trailer onto a railroad crossing while he is unconscious and is rammed by a train before he can escape. Atlanta Police homicide detective Caroline Brentwood and her partner Darius Jackson are assigned to the case and interrogate Pyro's teammates. Brentwood notes Neck is aggressively avoiding interrogation, and Breacher accompanies her to Neck's house, hopeful he will cooperate. When they arrive, they find him nailed to the ceiling and disemboweled.
A new connector was constructed to continue straight across US 171 and curve to meet the original alignment. Immediately to the east in Gloster, LA 5 made a jog to the south and back to the east at the location of a former railroad crossing near Main Street. It rejoined the present alignment directly opposite Jessie Latin Road, turning to the southeast. The construction of a wide curve at this location has replaced both jogs in the route.
Dom, in his late father's 1970 Dodge Charger, manages to incapacitate Lance while Brian pursues Tran in his Supra and kills him after shooting him in the side, causing him to crash at high speed on his motorcycle. Dom then challenges Brian to a race, pitting the Charger vs. the Supra on a quarter-mile strip with a railroad crossing as the finish line. The two engage in the high-speed drag race ultimately against an oncoming train.
Maryland Route 315 was the designation for Sunset Avenue from its railroad crossing at the west end of Greensboro east to MD 313 at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Main Street within the town in northern Caroline County. The highway was paved as a concrete road by 1923. After MD 313's bypass of Greensboro opened in 1950, MD 314 was extended west to replace the Sunset Avenue portion of MD 313 and all of MD 315.

The brothers' hands were tied behind their backs . After the arrest, Nhung and Nghĩa sat with the brothers in the APC, and the convoy departed for Tân Sơn Nhứt. Before the convoy departed for the church, Minh reportedly gestured to Nhung with two fingers, which some have claimed was to be taken as an order to kill both brothers. The convoy stopped at a railroad crossing on the return trip, where by all accounts the brothers were killed.
Aerial view of Chillicothe, 2012 Chillicothe is located at . According to the 2010 census, Chillicothe has a total area of , of which (or 94.74%) is land and (or 5.26%) is water. Crossing the IAIS and the Illinois River at Chillicothe is the former Santa Fe Railroad, now owned by BNSF Railway.
Surveys were completed in 1907, resulting in the elimination of a dangerous railroad crossing via a trestle. Actual construction began on the Patterson portion of the state road in April 1909, beginning from the Patterson Baptist Church near the modern-day intersection of NY 311 and NY 164\. The working crew was composed of Italian immigrants, some of whom were given temporary residence within the Putnam Cigar Factory. By June, the construction had reached the Village of Patterson, and was thus completed.
Passing through a strip of preserved land around a creek and curving around a former segment named Baxter Lane, the road encounters another moderate intersection, specifically CR 133(Avalon Avenue), Two blocks after this, the road passes in front of the Eastside Elementary School between Defender Drive and Llewellyn Avenue, then curves to the northeast before encountering a railroad crossing along the south side of the intersection with SR 100, the last intersection before the eastern terminus at US 90.
Railway station in MatapediaAt a Quebec conference in October 1864, the decision was made to join the Intercolonial Railway to the Grand Trunk at Rivière-du-Loup. In 1871, the construction of a railroad crossing the valley had begun, an undertaking that had been completed in 1876. Paired with the Matapedia and Kempt roads, this railway acted as a catalyst for demographic development in the valley. Indeed, between 1900 and 1940, the population of the valley rose to over thirty thousand inhabitants.
Morral. Nevada looking south near the Norfolk Southern Railway. State Route 231 (SR 231) is a long north-south state highway in the northwestern quadrant of the U.S. state of Ohio. SR 231 has its southern terminus at a CSX railroad crossing in the village of Morral. Its northern terminus is in downtown Tiffin at a signalized intersection with SR 18 and SR 101, following a long concurrency with SR 100, which continues north as a solo route north of this point.
In the afternoon, at 3pm, 3,000 people stormed Lacroze Station. Violence also erupted in the Congress, where members of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies reportedly threw notebooks at each other, rather than taking action. The funeral procession stopped a suburban train at a railroad crossing and broke every window in the carriages. At the Vasena Workshop, angry crowds pushed garbage wagons against the doors to break them down in an attempt at lynching the British managers who were besieged inside.
His entire work demonstrates a division between an attachment to tradition and the spirit of modernity. Many of his paintings depict crossings and thresholds: the space between waiting and leaving in a doorway, at a window or at a railroad crossing. This symbolism is visible for example in his painting In the Garden Doorway showing the artists wife, pregnant in the doorway between the living room and the garden with a background of gnarled and withered branches.L. A. Ring "I Havedoeren" SMK.
The Joint Bridge Commission of Pennsylvania and New York hired the Whittaker and Diehl Company in early of 1941 to construct a $174,300 (1941 USD ($ in )) steel, two-lane truss bridge to replace the aging structure. right With the construction, there was a tunnel built on the Pennsylvania side for the Erie Railroad line that went nearby. This helped end the constant traffic jams and accidents caused by the railroad crossing. This bridge was slightly downriver from the former spans.
The highway remains undivided until its passes under CSX's Metropolitan Subdivision, which carries MARC's Brunswick Line. North of the railroad crossing, MD 124 has a partial cloverleaf interchange with I-270 (Eisenhower Memorial Highway), with a park and ride lot serving MTA Maryland commuter buses located in the southwest quadrant of the interchange. There is no access from northbound MD 124 to southbound I-270 or from northbound I-270 to southbound MD 124; those movements are made via MD 117.
Down he goes again. 6\. Using railroad deception again, Wile E. hammers a crossing sign, accompanied by tracks set up and a record player with Hi-Fi railroad crossing sounds playing. When the Roadrunner stops, the Coyote tries to catch the bird, only to be run over by an actual train. 7\. Having almost blown his top with simple traps, Wile E. uses 12 bombs down an extremely long slide (identical to the one he had tried to use in Zoom and Bored).
Belle Grove Road from Pumphrey to Brooklyn Park was also paved in concrete in this period of time. A poorly constructed portion of the Camp Meade Road between Wellham Crossroads and Dorsey Road was repaved with asphalt in 1919. MD 170 was relocated at the railroad crossing when the highway's overpass of the Pennsylvania Railroad was completed in 1931. The old road, which is now Severn Station Road west of the tracks and Old Camp Meade Road to the east, became MD 483.
Approximately 3 years before this fatal derailment, on 24 November 2006, there was another accident in which the train's engineer was killed; the tilting train crashed into a lorry at a railroad crossing that had no ramp or warning lights. Out of eight trainsets that were introduced in 2004, two are therefore out of service. The tilting train services may therefore have to be reduced as there are no longer enough train-sets to serve all scheduled ICN trains and destinations.

686-87 Brown was born in a hospital in Vicksburg, Mississippi, but reared at Panola Plantation, the northern East Carroll Parish farm of his parents, Denis II, and Martha Brown. He considered Lake Providence to be his hometown. As a child, he was involved in many activities on the plantation and in town. The plantation, located on a small railroad crossing along U.S. Highway 65 North was worked by tenant farmers and during part of World War II German prisoners of war.
It then has another railroad crossing before leaving Oliver Springs and becoming slightly curvy for a short distance before crossing a bridge and coming to an intersection with Dutch Valley Road, where SR 330 turns northeast (left) onto Frost Bottom Road. It continues northeast through a narrow valley through rural areas as an improved 2-lane highway before entering Laurel Grove and coming to an end at an intersection with SR 116. The entire route of SR 330 is a 2-lane roadway.
Troy & Schenectady Railroad crossing old Balltown Road in Niskayuna, now part of the Mohawk Hudson Bike/Hike Trail The Troy & Schenectady Railroad was incorporated May 21, 1836. It was constructed by the city of Troy, the corporation issuing its bonds in the amount of $649,142.
Slowing to a speed limit after the interchange, NC 150 progresses towards Browns Summit, the first of three northern Greensboro suburbs the route passes through. After passing through a small road kink at a railroad crossing in the middle of Browns Summit, the route makes its way entirely across the rural community, thereby effectively bypassing Greensboro and remaining north of the county. As NC 150 approaches Summerfield (another suburb), numerous housing developments can be seen on either side of the road.
Somers has been used as a location for a handful of prominent movies. In 1923, famed silent film director D. W. Griffith recorded portions of the historical drama America in Somers. The film was released the following year (1924). More recently, a scene from the 1984 movie Falling in Love (starring Meryl Streep) used Dean's Bridge railroad crossing in a scene, the 1987 movie The Secret of My Success (starring Michael J. Fox) was filmed in Lasdon Park and Muscoot Farm.
A short distance later, the route enters Waterford Township and comes to a modified cloverleaf interchange with U.S. Route 30 (White Horse Pike) and County Route 536 Spur. View north along Route 73 at Brick Road in Evesham Following US 30, Route 73 passes through a small corner of Berlin Boro before it goes under NJ Transit’s Atlantic City Line near the Atco station. At the railroad crossing, the route enters Berlin Township and meets CR 534 at a crossroad.
The album art on the front cover is a photograph from a railroad crossing near the Atlanta suburb of Douglasville, taken by London photographer Sam Taylor-Wood. Taken in by the American South and given complete artistic freedom, she shot thousands of photos during her week-long trip. The trip included other towns like Unadilla and Forsyth in Georgia. While she also visited Peachtree Road in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, she thought it was too busy for the album's more mellow nature.
A map of downtown Hudson from 1888 showing the Lancaster Railroad, erroneously labeled as the Central Massachusetts Railroad, crossing over Mill Pond and continuing north off the map. The Lancaster Railroad, also known as the Lancaster and Hudson Railroad, was a shortline railroad in Massachusetts. The line ran 8.75 miles from a connection with the Worcester and Nashua Railroad in South Lancaster to a connection with the Marlborough Branch of the Fitchburg Railroad in Hudson via the town of Bolton.
The section of highway from Kennedy northward is six lanes with many businesses surrounding the highway. Until 2000, the section of highway between Gandy Boulevard and Euclid Ave was two lanes. Additionally a 1950s era overpass stood over a CSX rail corridor just north of the Lee Roy Selmon Crosstown Expressway. The overpass was torn down in the late 1990s and replaced with an at-grade railroad crossing as part of a widening project which increased that section to four lanes.
The city has direct access to the Interstate Highway System as it straddles exit 52 of Interstate 465. It is served by local public bus routes of Indianapolis' IndyGo system. Routes 12-Minnesota and 13-Raymond serve 17th Avenue (Sherman Drive) from Southern Avenue to Main Street, with select trips serving Albany Street from 17th Avenue to 25th Avenue. Route 14-Prospect serves Emerson Avenue from the Amtrak railroad crossing all the way to Thompson Road, the southern end of Beech Grove.
View east along MD 314 at MD 313 in Greensboro MD 314 begins in the town of Greensboro at a former railroad crossing with an unused railroad grade owned by the Maryland Department of Transportation between Cosden Street and Granby Street. Sunset Avenue continues west as a municipal street. MD 314 heads east as two-lane undivided Sunset Avenue toward the center of town, where the highway intersects MD 480 (Main Street). After crossing the Choptank River, the state highway meets MD 313 (Greensboro Road).
Outside of the city limits of Waukesha there were no curves of more than 6 degrees, and when not too heavily loaded or when running down grade the cars made 40 miles an hour around them. At the crossing of the Fox River in Waukesha a plate girder bridge 50 feet long was erected. At the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad crossing interlocking home and distant semaphore signals were put in so that trains on neither road stop unless compelled to by the signals.
It continues in the direction of Gräfelfing and is interrupted by the Bundesautobahn 96 (Munich-Lindau), which is slightly offset to the east and crossed by a pedestrian bridge. At the city boundary to Gräfelfing, in the Gräfelfinger wood meadows, it turns into the Freihamer Straße. Until 2013, it crossed the Munich-Herrsching railway line via a level crossing that was controlled from the München-Freiham station. In September 2013, the railroad crossing was closed and replaced in 2015 by a pedestrian and bicycle underpass.
The first section of MD 152 was constructed as a macadam road from the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad crossing just north of Watervale Road in Fallston to Pleasantville Road in Scarff by 1910. The paved highway was extended north to Rutledge in 1928. The segment from Fallston to MD 147 at Bagley, which was a county highway in 1930, was resurfaced in macadam in 1932. MD 152 was paved in macadam from US 40 (now MD 7) in Joppa north to Bagley in 1932 and 1933.
Wantagh Railroad Complex (also known as the Wantagh Museum), is a collection of old buildings in Wantagh, New York. It consists of the 1885-built Wantagh Railroad Station before it was moved from its original location in 1966, when the Babylon Branch was being elevated throughout the mid-20th century. The station itself was a replacement for original South Side Railroad of Long Island station built in 1867. It also includes a diamond-shaped pre-crossbuck railroad crossing sign, and an old grade crossing gate.
A Ballard Terminal Railroad crossing about ten blocks south of where these tracks join the BNSF Railway The Ballard Terminal Railroad Company LLC operates three Class III short line terminal railroads in western Washington, United States. Founded in 1997 to operate a three-mile spur through Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, the Ballard Terminal Railroad has expanded to operate two additional lines in the Puget Sound area, including Eastside Freight Railroad from Snohomish to Woodinville, Washington, and Meeker Southern Railroad , a segment from East Puyallup ("Meeker") to McMillin, Washington.
Although this undoubtedly helped them, Moss's innate ability was clearly the predominant factor. Moss was competing against drivers with a large amount of local knowledge of the route, so the reconnaissance laps were considered an equaliser, rather than an advantage. Car #704 with Hans Herrmann and Hermann Eger was said to be fastest in the early stages, though. Herrmann had already had a remarkable race in 1954, when the gate on a railroad crossing was lowered in the last moment before the fast train to Rome passed.
Route 183 soon changes names to Park Street, entering the village of Risingdale. In Risingdale, Route 183 turns north along the shoreline of the Housatonic. After a voyage along the riverside, the route crosses the Housatonic and enters the village of Housatonic. Now on the western shore of the river, Route 183 runs north along the riverside on Front Street along tracks owned by the Housatonic Railroad. Crossing into the town of Stockbridge, Route 183 begins winding eastward along the riverside for several miles.
Upon making another right hand turn, the vehicles passed by several policemen and weasel convicts and then entered several weasel-filled jail cells. After winding through the cells, guests emerged out into Shireland, passing by a shootout between the police and some weasels (using red lights to simulate gunfire). Several of the police barriers then moved aside revealing a railroad crossing, complete with a ringing bell. The gate then moved aside (presumably breaking apart), and the vehicles made a right hand turn onto the tracks.
It required the restoration of Samson Road railroad crossing, which was done on November 23, 2018, which enables the PNR to serve Malabon City once again. Services to Governor Pascual resumed on December 3, 2018, after two decades of hiatus. The rails that cover the radius of this station was dismantled and replaced with standard gauge tracks, which have also been dismantled for the NLEX Segment 10.1. Construction materials related to the NLEX Segment were moved to make way for the restoration of the at-grade rails.
N. C. Wyeth (1882-1945), Wyeth's grandfather Wyeth was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. His mother Caroline Pyle, Howard Pyle’s niece, was interested in the Wyeth family, flirted with some of them, and married Nathaniel C. Wyeth. He had four brothers, John, David, N. Convers, and Andrew, and one sister, Melinda who died very young. A fifth brother (the oldest), Newell died with his grandfather in 1945 when their car stalled on a railroad crossing near their home and they were struck by a milk train.
Several roads are named after Union Civil War generals, including Grant, Burnside, Sheridan, Sherman, and Rosecrans Avenues. There is a memorial in honor of 1st Lieutenant Raymond B. Jauss that is located at the park adjacent to the railroad crossing at the center of town. Jauss received a Distinguished Service Cross for his actions in World War One and was killed on July 15, 1918 near Crezancy, France. He was a graduate of Columbia University and his family had a summer home in Congers.
Brighton Park crossing in 2018 The Brighton Park crossing is a major railroad crossing in Chicago, Illinois, hosting three of the major Chicago freight railroads. The crossing is northwest of the intersection of Western Avenue and Archer Avenue, in the Brighton Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The railroads involved in the crossing are CSX, Canadian National and Norfolk Southern. The crossing consisted of the CN's two-track line in a roughly east–west orientation, crossing the five north–south tracks operated by NS and CSX.
Since the 1990s, video cameras have become common equipment installed inside school buses. As recording technology has transitioned from VHS to digital cameras, school buses have adopted multiple-camera systems, providing surveillance from multiple vantage points. While primarily used to monitor and record passenger behavior, video cameras have also been used in the investigation of accidents involving school buses. On March 28, 2000, a Murray County, Georgia, school bus was hit by a CSX freight train at an unsignaled railroad crossing; three children were killed.
Between the late 1960s and 1990s, various stations along the Far Rockaway Branch were given high-level platforms in order to accommodate modern M1, M3, and M7 railcars. The Far Rockaway Branch has the distinction of containing the oldest surviving railroad station on Long Island, and the only existing building constructed by an LIRR predecessor, specifically Hewlett. In 2003, the LIRR closed that station replacing it with a new one diagonally across the railroad crossing on Franklin Avenue; however, the original SSRLI Depot has remained intact.
Just after 1900, the Louisiana Texas Orchard Company purchased surrounding the settlement and platted a town named "Latexo", an acronym of the company's name.Temple, Robert D. Edge Effects: The Border-Name Places (2nd edition, 2009), iUniverse, , page 324. Five schools have been built over the years in the community and the city of Latexo. The first Bethel school building was on a dirt road that ran parallel with the railroad tracks, about south of the railroad crossing at the north end of the city.
NY 117's southeastward run on Harris Road ends just past the railroad crossing, where the highway turns northeast onto an unnamed road leading to a commercial and industrial area south of the hamlet of Katonah. After turning onto the highway, NY 117 serves various businesses before the route ends at the southbound-only exit 43 of the Saw Mill River Parkway. NY 117 northbound feeds into the northbound direction of the parkway, while exit 43 serves as the start of NY 117 southbound.
Since this part of the line is located in the central suburban area of Sendai, there are many commuters, and there are typically 2-4 Sendai — Ayashi trains every hour. Although there were fewer trains going from Ayashi to Sendai, the numbers have increased in recent years. The section is double-track and the interchange stations are Kita-Sendai, Kunimi, and Rikuzen-Ochiai. Presently, parts of the track are being elevated and there are plans to build a new station near the Shin-Ishinomaki Highway railroad crossing.
At a railroad crossing about one mile south of Chualar, a bus carrying Mexican migrant workers collided with a train in September 1963, killing 32 passengers and injuring 25. It was the most serious road accident in U.S. history, and helped spur abolition of the bracero guest worker program. The portion of U.S. Route 101 where the accident occurred was named "Bracero Memorial Highway" at the 50th anniversary of the accident in 2013. At that time two survivors of the crash were still alive.
Access to the ramp from SR 30 is provided indirectly from SR 725 (Binns Road) between the railroad crossing and the interchange. At I-95, SR 30 expands to a four-lane divided highway. East of I-95, SR 30 passes between a truck stop and the parking lot of Kings Dominion, which is accessed by either Theme Park Way or the direct entrance immediately to the east. SR 30 crosses CSX's Piedmont Subdivision at grade before crossing the North Anna River into Caroline County.
Traces of the feed store's old industrial lead can still be made out even though the track was torn out long ago. The foot of industrial lead to the Orchard Street Bellingham Cold Storage still exists, but the switchstand was recently removed. The industrial lead's right of way is fenced off beyond the Orchard Street crossing with "Tracks out of Service" signs being installed at the former railroad crossing. Between this point and the former wye at Hampton, there are no longer any tracks still intact.
On October 15, 2010, the CN railroad crossing at U.S. Route 14, as well as rail crossings at Lake Zurich Road and Cuba Road, were blocked for over one and half hours during the early afternoon rush hour due to a stopped 133-car CN southeast bound freight train. At times during the incident, the Hough Street crossing was also blocked. The stopped train also caused back-ups on the commuter rail service of the Union Pacific- Metra Northwest Line. That same day, U.S. Rep.
On his way to Bay City, he approaches a railroad crossing and starts across before the gates close to try to save time as a train approaches. His car stalls on the tracks and he can't start it again. He can't escape either as the seatbelt is stuck, and the train hits him. He doesn't die on impact but survives long enough to be at the hospital and say goodbye to Luke, give Luke "power of attorney" and tell a lawyer (Chris' brother) that his heart, if it is a match goes to Chris.
Next, it has an interchange with the Steel Bridge, where it loses its Highway 99W designation, as that route crosses over the bridge to continue on N Interstate Avenue. The parkway continues north to pass under the Broadway and Fremont bridges. It then passes through a level railroad crossing that serves as a passenger and freight access point to Union Station. Naito Parkway ends just after the Fremont Bridge, at its intersection with NW 15th Avenue, although the street itself continues in a northwest direction as NW Front Avenue.
Sanford's operation is also unique in that a railroad crossing runs through the middle of the rail yard. In 2010, Amtrak and the State of Florida replaced the older station with a new facility that can accommodate larger numbers of passengers more comfortably. Designed by d+A design + Architecture, LLC of Yardley, Pennsylvania, the current station has a waiting room for 600 travelers, ticket counter, café, restrooms, and a gift shop. The building also incorporates energy-saving features such as glass coatings that minimize solar gain and energy efficient HVAC and lighting systems.
Roundabout at Whiskey Bottom Road and All Saints Road Traffic Calming visibility maintenance The heavily traveled Baltimore-Washington corridors that Whiskey Bottom Road crosses have been the site of fatal accidents since automobiles were introduced. The introduction of traffic lights improved safety, but increasing volume of traffic has kept the intersections on many "Most Dangerous" lists. The B&O; Railroad crossing also was a frequent historical source of accidents with carts and pedestrians. A steep curving bridge was first built over the railroad tracks reducing train collisions, but occasionally creating its own hazardous driving conditions.
The GO Station opened on 7 September 1982, with service extending south to Toronto and north to Bradford. In 2002, with infrastructure funding from the provincial government, GO Transit expanded the station's parking lot capacity from 111 spaces to 255. During 2004, the platform was extended in order to accommodate longer trainsets, thus removing any boarding restrictions that GO Transit had with this station prior to opening the extended rail platform. In addition, the extension also eliminated the problem of GO trains blocking a railroad crossing on Station Road while passengers boarded and disembarked.
Kebumen are on track across the southern island of Java. Intercity public transportation is served by buses and trains. Station Kebumen, Gombong and Karanganyar is a big station in Kebumen, in addition there are small stations such as Prembun, Soka, Kutowinangun and among railroad crossing Kebumen is Senja Utama and Fajar Utama (Jakarta Senen Market-Yogyakarta), Argo Wilis (Bandung-Surabaya Gubeng), Bima (Jakarta- Surabaya City Gubeng), Logawa (Purwokerto-Jember), and Kutojaya (Kutoarjo- Jakarta) Sawunggalih (Jakarta-Kutoarjo). Adisucipto Airport can be reached by DAMRI buses, which is based at Pemuda street.
Minor deviations, mostly near the highway's southern end, included a diagonal cutoff that bypassed a section line road zigzag running northwest from Gillis and the straightening of the route through Longville. During the mid- to late 1930s, six additional grade separations were constructed elsewhere along US 171, eliminating nearly every railroad crossing along the route. The first was an overpass of the now abandoned Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway just east of DeRidder in 1934. The others were constructed beginning in 1935 as part of a federally funded grade separation program.
The Swift Highway No. 120 was established as a secondary highway by the Oregon State Highway Commission on December 3, 1931. On November 22, 1966, a section of the Swift Highway between North Columbia Boulevard and an Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company railroad crossing was truncated. During the Oregon Transportation Commission meeting on July 24, 2002, the commission approved the OR 120 designation to be placed on the Swift Highway. On July 22, 2008, maintenance for portions of the highway were transferred from ODOT to the city of Portland.
The movie Back to the Future Part III filmed the scene where Marty returns to the year 1985 in the time-traveling DeLorean at the railroad crossing at S Ventura Rd & Shoreview Dr in Port Hueneme. Many films, including Little Miss Sunshine, Chinatown, Erin Brockovich, The Aviator, and The Rock were partly filmed in Ventura. Downtown Ventura hosts the Majestic Ventura Theater, a beautiful early century theatre, which is situated about two blocks away from city hall. It is the region's most prominent local musical venue and hosts concerts regularly.
The train station is located at 85 Burrill Avenue; commuters cut through the MBTA parking lot from the train station for easy access to the campus. The railroad tracks divide the campus in half between East and West campus. There is a small walkway underpass beneath the rail line which allows students to walk between East and West campus, along with an at-grade railroad crossing on Plymouth St., next to the Welcome Center, for motorists to drive between campuses. The stops on the line go all the way from South Station to Lakeville.
The station is part of the CityTicket program and is in Zone 3. Little Neck Parkway at the west end of the station crosses the line at the only at-grade railroad crossing on the Port Washington Branch, and one of the few remaining in New York City. It is regarded as one of the most dangerous railroad crossings in the city, as the other crossings carry few trains, usually only freight trains (such as on the Montauk Branch west of Jamaica station and the Bushwick Branch, both un-electrified).
The station still had manual railroad crossing gates and a guard shack as recently as 1973. It was closed on March 16, 1998 along with Penny Bridge, Fresh Pond, Glendale and Richmond Hill stations; average daily westbound ridership at the station in 1997 was 3. In January 2018, Haberman was one of 8 stations on the Lower Montauk Branch that were recommended for reopening in a study sponsored by the New York City Department of Transportation. On some maps Haberman mistakenly appears as the name of a neighborhood.
On the western side Akkol is sheltered by a pine-covered volcano named in Russian Kalancha (Watchtower) and in Kazakh Monshakty (having beads). There is also a ground mission control centre of Kazcosmos inside the pine forest as well as a ski resort named “SharZhum” which accommodates guests and tourists throughout the year on the timber edge. There is also a municipal park in the middle of Akkol. The town is divided into two parts by a railroad intersected by two curved bridges and one railroad crossing with barrier.
The state-backed project will include elevating the railroad crossing at Buena Vista Street to prevent people from getting in harm's way when a train is coming. The crossing has been the site of at least two fatalities in recent years. Downtown Burbank train station Burbank contains about of streets, nearly of paved alleys, of sidewalks, 181 signalized intersections and 10 intersections with flashing signals, according to city figures. Many of the current signals date back to the late 1960s, when voters passed a major capital improvement program for street beautification and street lighting.
The only railroad crossing in town is a reminder that the tracks are still in use today, even if the town is not. Petrel was established as a townsite along the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad in Gilstrap Township. A post office was established in the town on October 29, 1908 when the post office for the neighboring area of Thebes was moved to the new townsite and assumed the new name. The Petrel post office closed September 30, 1939, and mail service was transferred to Lemmon, South Dakota.
The Chualar post office opened in 1871, closed in 1873, and re-opened in 1874. At a railroad crossing about one mile south of town, a bus carrying Mexican migrant workers collided with a train in September 1963, killing 32 passengers and injuring 25. It was the most serious road accident in U.S. history, and helped spur the abolition of the bracero guest worker program. The portion of U.S. Route 101 where the accident occurred was named the "Bracero Memorial Highway" on the 50th anniversary of the accident in 2013.

Mississippi Blues Trail marker in downtown Moorhead A historic plaque in Moorhead is located where the Southern Railroad once crossed the Yazoo Delta Railroad (known as the "Yellow Dog"). The Southern travelled east- west, and later became the Columbus and Greenville Railway, while the Yellow Dog travelled north-south, and later became the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad. The level junction (diamond) is still preserved as an historic site, though the north-south line has since been abandoned through Moorhead. This railroad crossing is very significant in the history of blues music.
The route was severed in June 1957 when the railroad crossing on Labarre Road was closed following completion of the parallel Causeway Boulevard (LA 3046) overpass. The extension of the Earhart Expressway (LA 3139) from Deckbar Avenue to Cleary Avenue in 1984 created a second barrier. In 2002, the segment of LA 611-4 north of the railroad tracks was given a separate route number, LA 3262, before being deleted altogether in 2010. LA 611-4 was known as State Route 1231 in the pre-1955 Louisiana highway system.
The Ghent District is a historic neighborhood in Norfolk, Virginia. It comprises Ghent, West Ghent, and Ghent Square. Other portions of surrounding neighborhoods are often attributed to Ghent as an extension of its commerce including Chelsea, North Colley Avenue, and active gentrification into portions of Park Place to the north, labelled 'The Railroad District'. Ghent's boundaries to the south are Mowbray Arch/Brambleton Avenue along The Hague and the Neon District, the Elizabeth River to the west, Monticello Avenue on the east, and the railroad crossing at 22nd Street to the North.
Sign for Suitland Parkway eastbound after entering Maryland The Suitland Parkway begins at an interchange with I-295 and South Capitol Street in Washington, D.C., heading southeast as a four-lane divided highway. The road intersects Firth Sterling Avenue SE at a traffic light before passing near residential areas as a limited-access road and curving to the south. Just after Firth Sterling Avenue SE, the parkway used to intersect a railroad line at a road crossing. The tracks have been abandoned and removed, but signage for the old railroad crossing can still be seen.
The Church of Christ is now located on the site. Several country stores were established on Old Wrightsboro Road near the railroad crossing. One was S. F. Poole's store, where the gazebo now stands at the corner with Robinson Avenue, with a "philosophers' bench" by the door. During the early days, many famous residents lived in the Grovetown area: Hayne, the literary figure; Stewart Phinizy and James Tobin, cotton brokers; Charles Phinizy, banker and railroad president; Dr. H. H. Steiner, physician; and John Dodge, pharmacist and harness racing enthusiast.
The first business at that crossroads was a trading post and country store operated by Marre and Allen. The site of the railroad crossing was notable for its proximity to nearby deposits of iron ore, coal, and limestone – the three main raw materials used in making steel. Child labor at Avondale Mills in Birmingham in 1910; photo by Lewis Hine Birmingham is the only place where significant amounts of all three minerals can be found in close proximity. From the start the new city was planned as a center of industry.
North of there, the road becomes North Louisville Street and passes by Columbia Theatre,Columbia Theatre (Harlem, Georgia) then a Georgia Railroad and Banking Company railroad crossing between South Hicks Street and North Hicks Street, and later the Laurel and Hardy Museum. The Laurel and Hardy Museum of Harlem, Georgia After leaving Harlem, the street name changes from North Louisville Street to the Harlem-Appling Highway. Few sites exist along this segment, including intersections, all of which are paved whether significant or otherwise. Among them is a shared intersection with Fairview Drive and Old Union Road.
"Peach basket" variation primarily found on the Union Pacific. This particular signal is operational and guards the main crossing of the Orange Empire Railway Museum. The third and least common version was a pole-mounted lower-quadrant signal, with the motor box fixed to the top of an octagonal steel frame that surrounded the target, presumably to protect both banner and motor box from being damaged by road vehicles. Dubbed the "peach basket" because of the protective framework, the apparatus was crowned by another visual warning, the traditional X-shaped "RAILROAD CROSSING" sign, or crossbucks.
This is a reduction from 1983 information from the Federal Highway Administration (FRA) that showed 2,618 crossings equipped with wigwags. Of these 1,098 crossings having wigwags, 398 are in California, 117 in Wisconsin, 97 in Illinois, 66 are in Texas and 45 are in Kansas. A total of 44 states have at least one railroad crossing having a wigwag as its warning device. As of 2020, only one wigwag in the U.S. remains on a main rail line; a Magnetic Flagman upper-quadrant at a rural crossing in Delhi, Colorado on the BNSF Railway.
Following the acquisition of the necessary right-of-way, phasing of the project was released in June 1979. The first phase included the completion of the interchange at I-20/59 and lane expansion; the second phase included the segment between I-20/59 and the AGS railroad crossing; and the third phase included the elevated segment through the northern terminus in downtown Tuscaloosa. Construction would commence in 1980 on the first phase, with the bid for the second phase setting a then- record for cost for a Tuscaloosa road project at $11,884,450.
The highway from Betterton through the village of Still Pond to the Still Pond railroad crossing (also known as Hepbron) was originally improved by Kent County with state aid as a macadam road by 1915. The highway was extended south from the railroad to the Chestertown-Galena state road (now MD 213) as a concrete road in 1921 and 1922. The main streets of Betterton and Still Pond were paved with concrete in 1922 and 1923. By 1934, MD 292 from US 213 to Betterton was proposed to be widened from to .
In 1971, the U.S. Army agreed to a land swap with Anheuser-Busch in return for a larger parcel which is located directly across Skiffe's Creek from Fort Eustis. Along with land previously owned by Colonial Williamsburg, the former Camp Wallace land became part of a massive development. Nearby, the Busch Gardens Williamsburg theme park opened in 1975, as well as a large brewery, and the Kingsmill Resort.Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg Virginia (VA) Busch Gardens Williamsburg also named a railroad crossing after Camp Wallace on the Busch Gardens Railway.
Luckily, after Right attempted to deal with the Shadow Line on his own so his friends could resume their normal lives, the ToQgers are able to return to Subarugahama. Herbert Linge with Porsche 904 at the Nürburgring 1964 Herbert Linge (born 11 June 1928, in Weissach) is a German former racing and rally driver. As an employee of Porsche, he was involved in many events, and later also in motorsport safety. He took part in many 24 Hours of Le Mans races in the 1960s, even with a Porsche 917. He became famous for being the co-driver of Hans Herrmann in the 1954 Mille Miglia, when their low Porsche 550 passed under a closed railroad crossing, with both ducking under the dashboard.
On an early January morning, the twelfth car, laden with lumber, of an 85-car freight train came off the tracks and crashed into the corner of the building. The owner of the building, who lived just above the section that was hit, was uninjured but had most of her personal effects scattered into the street. There were only a few people near the railroad crossing when it derailed including an 18-year-old female who was knocked unconscious and a man who was sitting in his car, but was able to get away unharmed.
He feels like he is all alone in his resistance. He decides to run for office in a local election running under a very small leftist party while continuing his radio crusade. The Mafia eventually gets tired of Peppino and decides that life would be easier without him. They have men follow him in his car one night and when he stops at a railroad crossing they drag him out of his car beat him until he cannot move, tie him to the railroad tracks with TNT and blow him up.
Decatur Boulevard was named after the city of Decatur, Illinois in the 1930s by Leonard Frechette, who lived on the junction of the street and Vegas Drive. The city was itself named in honor of Stephen Decatur, a naval officer during the early 19th century. A $46 million Clark County construction project that widened the widened much of Decatur Boulevard and introduced railroad crossing for both Decatur Blvd and Warm Springs Road under the Union Pacific tracks was completed in summer 2010. Sewerage along parts of the route was renewed in spring 2011.
According to tests conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board, the warning lights on the railroad crossing activated 20 seconds before the arrival of the Metra train. However, the traffic light clearing the rail intersection only allowed cars to clear 18 seconds after the railway signals activated, giving vehicles only 2 to 6 seconds to clear the tracks. Roadway signal timing was under the jurisdiction of IDOT, while railway timing was under the jurisdiction of Union Pacific. No communication took place between both parties with regards to interconnected signal timing.
The railroad crossing at this location dates to 1850 when a branch of the Fitchburg Railroad opened from Grout's Corner west to Greenfield. This line would later connect to the Hoosac Tunnel, which opened to rail traffic in 1875. Pan Am Railways train MOED (Mohawk Yard To East Deerfield Yard) on the bridge 7/1/10 The bridge carries rail traffic in and out of the former Boston & Maine Railroad yard at East Deerfield. The bridge, owned by Pan Am Railways, is at the east end of the yard.
Between 1936 and 1940, the Authority selected a route for the bridge based on preliminary studies. Borings were made for a detailed geological study of the route. The preliminary plans for the bridge featured a 3-lane roadway, a railroad crossing on the underdeck of the span, and a center-anchorage double-suspension bridge configuration similar to the design of the San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge. Because this would have required sinking an anchorage pier in the deepest area of the Straits, the practicality of this design may have been questionable.
Just north of the station, NY 312 turns almost due east as it crosses the Harlem Line at-grade and exits Dykemans. from the railroad crossing, the route intersects North Brewster Road (County Road 58 or CR 58) and Farm to Market Road (CR 62) in the hamlet of Brewster Hill. From here, it travels along the northern edge of Bog Brook Reservoir, another large reservoir which supplies drinking water to New York City. NY 312 proceeds east to the hamlet of Sears Corners, where it terminates at NY 22.
Northeast of downtown Bellingham, I-5 intersects SR 542 (the Mount Baker Highway) and turns west to meet SR 539 at the Bellis Fair Mall. The freeway heads northwest and leaves Bellingham after passing Bellingham International Airport, entering the predominately rural part of the Fraser Lowland region. I-5 continues northwest along the railroad, crossing the Nooksack River on a pair of truss bridges near downtown Ferndale and reaching a junction with SR 548 north of the city. SR 548 continues along the highway and travels west towards the Cherry Point Refinery and Birch Bay.
The river empties into Belfast Bay, an inlet of Penobscot Bay, where it passes under US Route 1. The waterway's name is of local Native American origin and is believed to mean "a sturgeon's place" or "a place for spearing sturgeon by torchlight." Originally supported by trestles and a stone foundation, the overpass was rebuilt in 1910 during the construction of the Catskill Aqueduct. The reconstruction removed the trestles and added a concrete foundation. Though a local legend holds that the bridge was originally built in response to the death of a prominent woman at the Forest Glen railroad crossing, it is more likely that it was built to maintain the rail line at a consistent grade. A little over from the bridge is the site of the former Forest Glen station.
The Lumber River as seen from the boat launch at Princess Ann near Orrum. A railroad crossing and old general store in Rex A view of St. Pauls Archaeological excavation performed in Robeson County reveals widespread, continuous occupation of the region by various cultures of indigenous peoples since the end of the last Ice Age. They had camps and settlements near the Lumber River for its water, transportation, fish and related wildlife resources. Local excavations reveal that Native American peoples made stone tools, using materials brought to present-day Robeson County from the Carolina Piedmont.
Just before the junction of this curve with the Soo, a very short stub ran to the Wimbledon terminal station which was erected at 401 Railway Street in 1920. The MICO main line ran up the east side of the little city to the grain elevator at Frazier, on 16 1/2 Avenue SE. Before 1920 the station was on it, on the north side 7th Street SE east of 7th Avenue, and the former grade crossing here still had a "Railroad Crossing" sign in 2013 (removed by 2020).
Past MD 450, US 1 Alternate curves north and its name changes to Baltimore Avenue passing industrial areas on the east and the Old Port of Bladensburg Community Park on the west. The route leaves Bladensburg at its crossing over the Northeast Branch and enters the city of Hyattsville. The route narrows to a two-lane undivided road and continues through a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial areas. US 1 Alternate reaches an at-grade railroad crossing with a component of the wye junction between CSX's Capital Subdivision line and its Alexandria Extension.
In August 1988, Davis began work as a drill technician at a plant that manufactured railroad crossing gates. His boss commented that while Davis was a likeable and good worker who appeared to have positive life goals, his job attendance was poor; by Christmas 1988, he had stopped coming to work. Davis returned to the job twice in the following months but neither time remained for long. Davis was a coach in the Savannah Police Athletic League and had signed up for service in the United States Marine Corps.
On December 2, Hood had ordered Bate to destroy the railroad and blockhouses between Murfreesboro and Nashville and join Forrest for further operations. On December 4, Bate's division attacked Blockhouse No. 7 protecting the railroad crossing at Overall's Creek, but Union forces fought it off. On the morning of December 5, Forrest marched toward Murfreesboro in two columns, one to attack the fort on the hill and the other to take Blockhouse No. 4, both at La Vergne. Forrest demanded the garrisons at both locations surrender, which they did.
The first D&H; No. 5 breaker, which burned in 1907 The former railroad crossing at Plymouth's Bull Run (long disappeared) was originally called Fuller's Crossing, after the mine operator J. C. Fuller. The railroad ran from his mine (and several others), crossed Main Street and continued down to a wharf on the Susquehanna River. Fuller's mine was located just above the Gaylord colliery along what is now Washington Avenue. According to Munsell, the shaft was sunk by the (old) Plymouth Coal Co. and J. C. Fuller in 1858.
The heart of Greenlawn is reached at the intersection of CR 9, the northwest corner of which contains Greenlawn Park, a local baseball field that runs along. The park is located along the west side of Broadway, east side of Cuba Hill Road, and south side of CR 11 (Pulaski Road), which it intersects almost instantly. Further into town, CR 86 passes an at-grade railroad crossing of the Port Jefferson Branch of the Long Island Rail Road close to Greenlawn Railroad Station. After passing the Harborfields Public Library, the road becomes much more residential.
DNA testing eliminated everyone except Reed as the source of the semen. Police investigators could find no one who would attest to a relationship between Reed and Stites, including her mother and sister, and the defense brought forward no witnesses who could testify to the affair. Further, Stites' mother claimed that her daughter and her fiancé "looked happy and in love". The prosecution put forward the DNA evidence and speculated that Reed may have ambushed Stites at a railroad crossing or a stoplight on her way to work the morning of the murder.
Echo, Texas (Orange County) is a populated place which was founded in 1880. The Louisiana Western Extension Railroad Company was given the task of completing the last section of the Texas and New Orleans Railroad crossing the Sabine River, linking Houston with New Orleans. The swampland directly east of Orange was considered unsuitable for the railway construction, so the company pushed the line to the north and east and established a quarantine station. The site was given the name Echo, because the sounds of the railway reverberated in the nearby river swamp.
Today, several remains of the former track are still in place. In Bellingham, the Bellingham Cold Storage's waterfront based facilities' tracks are still in place with the foot of the first lead being used to store an old caboose. Beyond Mt. Baker Products, the railroad crossing at Roeder Avenue is still intact with the rails going through the road and a crossbuck still standing guard. Most of the old Bellingham International is still in place up to just past the Northwest Avenue overpass including the washout that supposedly caused the BNSF to abandon the track.
The TV movie was not long enough for theatrical release, so Universal had Spielberg spend two days filming several new scenes, turning Duel into a 90-minute film. The new scenes were set at the railroad crossing and the school bus, as well as the scene of Mann talking to his wife on the telephone. A longer opening sequence was added with the car backing out of a garage and driving through the city. Expletives were also added, to make the film sound less like a television production.
Following the Steamship Company, Aspinwall then promoted a railway in Panama. The project, which began in May 1850 and was later known as the Panama Canal Railway, was the first transcontinental railroad in the Americas and was built to provide a shorter and more secure path between the United States' East and West Coasts. When completed in 1855, the line was designated as an "inter-oceanic""A Great Enterprise" The Portland (Maine) Transcript [Newspaper], February 17, 1855. railroad crossing as it connected ports on the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
School janitor Mario (Massimo Troisi) and teacher Saverio (Roberto Benigni) are in a car at a railroad crossing, waiting for the train to pass. The scenery is the Tuscan countryside, in 1984. Saverio complains of his sister Gabriellina's being unwell since her boyfriend left her three years ago and asks Mario to marry her, much to Mario's frustration. Since the keeper tells them that several more trains are coming through before they can pass, the two decide to drive on a dirt road through the fields hoping to find another way to cross the tracks.
Melissa Bean (D-8th) and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) released a statement that Barrington will receive a $2.8 million grant to fund the planning, design and engineering of a grade separation at the U.S. Route 14 and CN railroad crossing. Construction of any grade separation at that intersection is estimated to cost approximately $69 million; the source(s) of any such funding are currently unknown, and there are currently no plans to design or construct grade separations at any of the other seven Barrington area CN railroad crossings.
This site was on the main and most travelled route between the Town of Smithtown and Islip. This station was closed as it was replaced by the Central Islip depot that was built further east and opened on November 4, 1873 as a flag stop. Rail service in the vicinity didn't die out completely in that area however. A team track and a freight spur were located on the northeast and southwest corners of the railroad crossing until 1959, the southwest spur having been used by the Long Island Lighting Company.
Cecil County extended the macadam road to the Post Road by 1919. The highway from the Aikin railroad crossing to Port Deposit was paved as a concrete road in two sections: from the railroad to near Port Deposit by 1921 and through Port Deposit by 1923. MD 268 was paved as a concrete road from Port Deposit to US 1 at Conowingo Dam between 1930 and 1933; the construction work included repurposing a railroad bridge across Octoraro Creek as a highway bridge. MD 268's bridge across the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad was constructed between 1931 and 1934.
A witness told a 9-1-1 operator that she did not hear a train horn, but that the railroad crossing lights were working at the site of the accident. Shortly after the accident North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) reported that U.S. 301, N.C. 903 and N.C. 125 were closed in all directions for emergency response, clean-up and investigation purposes. 170 of the remaining uninjured passengers were transported by bus to Richmond, Virginia to be placed on another train. The day after the derailment, authorities stated that no charges will be filed against Black in relation to this accident.
SR 128 turns north onto two-lane Mayflower Drive, which heads east through several industrial parks. North of Odd Fellows Road, the state highway veers east and then north again. For its at-grade intersection with Norfolk Southern Railway's Durham District rail line, SR 128 makes a sharp curve east, passes through a hairpin turn back west, in the middle of which the highway intersects the railroad, and curves north again. North of that railroad crossing, the state highway passes through a residential area and reaches its northern terminus at Campbell Avenue, which features US 460 Business and US 501 Business.
The Silver Hill neighborhood is located in northern Weston, south of North Street (Massachusetts Route 117) and the Silver Hill stop of the MBTA's Fitchburg Line commuter rail. The district extends along Merriam Street, which crosses the railroad line on an old wooden bridge, south to Westland Road. Just south of the railroad crossing, Silver Hill Road branches west, then curves south to flank the eponymous hill, reaching its end at Westland Road. The neighborhood is extended further west on Westland Road, an area which is excluded from the historic district due to a loss of historical integrity in many of its houses.
In July 1861, the First Battle of Manassas—also known as the First Battle of Bull Run—was fought nearby, the first major land battle of the American Civil War. Manassas commemorated the 150th anniversary of the First Battle of Manassas on July 21–24, 2011. Fencing at Manassas Battlefield The Second Battle of Manassas (or the Second Battle of Bull Run) was fought near Manassas on August 28–30, 1862. At that time, Manassas Junction was little more than a railroad crossing, but a strategic one, with rails leading to Richmond, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and the Shenandoah Valley.
The final segment of NC 197 that follows the Toe River does so in the reverse direction as the previous two times this occurred. This segment comes after a railroad crossing and a new concrete arch bridge that carries the highway across the Toe River into Yancey County. After leaving the river area, NC 197 continues through mountains and grassy knolls until it arrives at U.S. Route 19E (US 19E) just east of Burnsville. Following a short overlap with US 19E, NC 197 leaves US 19E in Burnsville as Pensacola Road and goes through the Cane River valley to Pensacola.
As the road is about to leave Sulphur Springs, a concrete median begins before US 41 crosses another at- grade railroad crossing along the south side of SR 580(Busch Boulevard). The rest of the way, it becomes the main north-south road through North Tampa, other than I-275. West of the University of South Florida, US 41 intersects such major streets as State Road 582(Fowler Avenue) and then several block north of there crosses SR 579/CR 582A(Fletcher Avenue). Further north, SR-CR 678 is the last chance for motorists to access I-275.
The route officially enters the Hazlehurst City Limits between Currie Street and a railroad crossing for a former Southern Railway line (now the Norfolk Southern Railway's Brunswick District). Larry Contos Boulevard ends at US 341/SR 27 (a divided four-lane highway Designated the Golden Isles Parkway), and US 23/SR 19 turns northwest along this route. The first notable site along this segment is the combined Hazlehurst Fire Department and the Hazlehurst — Jeff Davis County Chamber of Commerce building on the northeast corner of Oak Street. Two block later, it crosses another railroad line just east of Walnut Street.
The main street was Villard Avenue, but the village had the economic advantages of a Milwaukee Road railroad crossing near 35th and Hampton, supplemented by a streetcar line which Payne (local manager of The Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Company) had run across two miles of vacant fields to the new community. The population was heavily German Americans,Gurda, John. "North Milwaukee No More: Former Industrial Suburb Blends into North Side" in, Cream City Chronicles, Stories of Milwaukee's Past Volume 4 Madison: Wisconsin Historical Society, 2007; pp. 167-169. including a large population of Volga Deutsche in the neighborhood called "Red Town".
SR 2 and US 17 Business meet SR 3 (Blue and Gray Parkway) at a partial cloverleaf interchange. At Charles Street, Dixon Street veers east, then the two highways turn north onto a one-way pair, Caroline Street northbound and Princess Anne Street southbound. The two streets pass under CSX's RF&P; Subdivision at the southern end of downtown adjacent to the Fredericksburg station, which serves Amtrak and Virginia Railway Express's Fredericksburg Line. Immediately north of the railroad crossing SR 2 and US 17 Business meet US 1 Business (Lafayette Boulevard), which joins the two highways through downtown Fredericksburg.
Spanish: "TICLIO - TOURISM PLACE / 4818 m AMSL / World's highest railroad crossing" Ticlio (or Anticona) is a mountain pass and the highest point of the central road of Peru (km 120), in the Andes mountains, reaching a height of . It used to be a railway crossing loop on the Ferrocarril Central Andino (FCCA) in Peru whose main claim to fame was being the highest railway junction in the world. The railway now crosses the pass through a nearby tunnel at a lower elevation (4783 m) which enters a different valley than the highway on the eastern side of the pass.
In the 1840s, plans for the Louisa Railroad (renamed the Virginia Central Railroad in 1850) originally anticipated crossing the Blue Ridge at Swift Run Gap to reach Harrisonburg, but projected construction costs after surveying were prohibitive.Railroads of the Shenandoah This was primarily due to the steepness of the terrain on the eastern slope. Addressing the dilemma, Claudius Crozet, the legendary Chief Engineer of the Virginia Board of Public Works, determined that a system of tunnels at Rockfish Gap, about to the south, would be more feasible. Despite later technological advances, no railroad crossing was ever attempted at Swift Run Gap.

After leaving the Valparaiso area, US 30 passes through rural farmland, with an intersection at US 421 northeast of Wanatah and an at-grade railroad crossing with the Chesapeake and Indiana Railroad. East of the railroad tracks is an intersection with SR 39 and a bridge across the Kankakee River. Then the route briefly swings slightly to the north of the old Lincoln Highway alignment to accommodate an interchange at US 35\. US 30 runs along the north side of Plymouth, passing through an interchange with the northern terminus of SR 17 and near the Plymouth Municipal Airport.
The Lewis and Clark Marathon course is typical of running venues in the Bozeman area, and reflects the scenery and accompanying challenges. It contains a mixture of paved and gravel road, as well as single-track trail; as such, it may be a more " technical " course than many who've only run road marathons are used to. With the hills, this is not a fast course, despite the overall loss of elevation, so don't count on a PR (or a Boston-qualifying time) on this course! In addition, there is a railroad crossing at about the 15 mile mark.
By 1969, with the assistance of federal funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission procured by New York's U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, the route provided nonstop access between Harriman and Binghamton, and by extension New York City to Binghamton. It connected the New York State Thruway (I-87) to I-81. Despite flaws in the highway's design -- it included a grade-level railroad crossing near Fair Oaks (since removed) and two stretches with intersections and driveway access -- the Quickway succeeded in easing travel through southern New York, cutting the driving time in half and the accident rate by 70 percent.
He established the Council Bluffs Bugle in 1852; the Bugle was vocal in supporting the establishment of Omaha as the capital of Nebraska Territory. Johnson opened the first store Omaha and sent the first train of goods to the Cherry Creek mines in Denver, Colorado. In 1854, he published the Omaha Arrow, the first newspaper published in Nebraska, and the same year accompanied the first party of explorers for a railroad crossing on the Missouri River and Loupe Fork of the Platte River. Johnson wrote the first article published favoring the North Platte route for the Pacific Railroad.
The Roman Catholic church is at 504 3rd Avenue, the opposite end of that thoroughfare from the railroad crossing. The first, wooden, church on this site was actually erected in 1886 at Durupt (now a ghost town), five miles south. The dedication to St Boniface, the Apostle to the Germans, indicates the German origins of the first worshipers. When they realised that Wimbledon was going to be more important, they jacked the church up, put it on rollers and used horse power to drag it to its new site just north of the town plat in 1895.
There were three tollgates along the turnpike, one at around from Trenton, one at Ridge Road and one at the current railroad crossing for US 1\. Toll collectors on the turnpike would often have a hard time counting the number of horses at a tollgate because of kicked up smoke and dust. During the War of 1812, the turnpike gained record usage, moving goods between Philadelphia and New York. A third supplement was added to the charter in January 1814, where the turnpike corporation would have to upgrade the road in eighteen months or face removal of tolls.
For over eighty years, the line operated between Sunbury and Lewistown, serving as a relief line for both the Pennsylvania Main Line and Bald Eagle Valley Railroad through Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The line was noteworthy as a proving ground for new railroad technology in the United States, such as the "X"-shaped railroad crossing signs in 1917 (now nearly ubiquitous in the United States) and Pulse Code Cab Signaling technology in 1925. It is now a fallen flag railway, the name "Sunbury and Lewistown" having been phased out in 1901 when the line became part of the Pennsylvania Railroad's Sunbury Division.
As the road runs along the north side of some agricultural land, it eventually meets with a railroad crossing, and then passes a saw mill before encountering US 41 (SR 45) at a section of Pasco County which is known as Gowers Corner. Plans to widen SR 52 in the vicinity of US 41 include the realignment of both roads. East of US 41 is a community known as the Pilot Country Estates Airport, where residents have their own private airplanes.Pilot Country Estates Airport Beyond that, most of the features surrounding SR 52 consist of fledgling farmland and minor lakes.
View west along MD 77 west of MD 76 in Rocky Ridge The first section of what was to become MD 77 was paved in concrete from the railroad crossing at Graceham east to Old Frederick Road near Loys Station by 1923. This section of improved road was extended east with concrete to Rocky Ridge starting in 1924 and completed by 1927. MD 77 was also extended west to the eastern edge of Thurmont as a macadam road by 1927. The concrete highway was extended east from Rocky Ridge in 1928 and to the Monocacy River in 1930.
Signage for the route along Interstate 95 State Road 922 begins at the intersection between 125th Street and US 441/SR 7, with SR 922 heading east, intersecting with I-95 just one block east of the western terminus. East of I-95, SR 922 continues through mostly residential areas of North Miami, becoming commercial as it reaches the intersection with SR 909/SR 915. East of the intersection, SR 922 continues as a commercial thoroughfare until a railroad crossing jags SR 922 slightly south to become 123rd Street. It then meets with US 1/SR 5, and runs towards Biscayne Bay.
Researchers define environmental sounds as those that are either animate, inanimate, artificial or natural; sounds produced by real events as opposed to machine-generated sounds; sounds that are more complex than laboratory-produced sounds and those that are dynamic and convey a sense of activity. Examples include the ring of a doorbell, coughing, rain, a car engine, a railroad crossing signal, and so on. Such environmental sounds are important sources of information and provide us with knowledge of our surroundings. Research has found that recall for environmental sounds can be dependent upon the storage and retrieval of verbalizable interpretations.
They stopped at a railroad crossing on the return trip where, by all accounts, the brothers were assassinated. An investigation by General Tran Van Don later determined that Nghĩa had shot the brothers at point-blank range with a semi-automatic firearm and that Nhung sprayed them with bullets before repeatedly stabbing their bodies with a knife.Karnow, p. 326. Nghĩa gave his account of the assassinations to military headquarters: “As we rode back to the Joint General Staff headquarters, Diệm sat silently, but Nhu and the captain [Nhung] began to insult each other. I don’t know who started it.
España Boulevard near University of Santo Tomas The Welcome Rotonda, also called the Mabuhay Rotonda España is an east-west artery of Manila. It connects Lerma and Nicanor Reyes (formerly Morayta) streets of Sampaloc district at the west end to the Mabuhay (or Welcome) Rotonda, Quezon City at the east end. The entire street is straddled by a center island, which is only broken at major intersections and at the railroad crossing. Vehicles are allowed to make a left-turn only on two intersections: southward to Lacson Avenue and at the western terminus going to Nicanor Reyes Street.
In particular, sequences were filmed on the Sierra Highway, Agua Dulce Canyon Road, Soledad Canyon Road, and Angeles Forest Highway. Many of the landmarks from Duel still exist today, including the tunnel, the railroad crossing, and Chuck's Café, where Mann stops for a break. The building is still on Sierra Highway and has housed a French restaurant called Le Chene since 1980. The "Snakerama" gas station (now the Peppertree market) seen in the film also appears in Spielberg's comedy film 1941 (1979) as a tribute to Duel, with actress Lucille Benson again appearing as the proprietor.
The Clinton Railroad Bridge, also called the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Bridge or more simply the Clinton Bridge, is a bridge that carries double tracked rail lines across the Mississippi River between Clinton, Iowa, and Fulton (Albany), Illinois. The bridge is a truss bridge with a swing span crossing the main river channel and is adjacent to the Gateway Bridge. The original bridge was constructed in 1858, and the first train crossed the bridge on January 19, 1860. The bridge was the second railroad crossing over the Mississippi River, and the first over the Upper Mississippi.
In Iowa, UP operates the line from Mallard to Grand Junction, from Northwood through Mason City to Rockwell, and Grinnell to Oskaloosa. The now-abandoned route owned by Iowa Pacific Railroad from Steamboat Rock to Marshalltown, Iowa, was scrapped and removed in 2015. Canadian National (owner of the former Illinois Central) operated a short spur from Ackley, Iowa northwards to Geneva, Iowa into the early 2000s. While the CN connection to the former M&StL; mainline in Ackley still exists to interchange with the Iowa River Railroad, the at-grade railroad crossing over the CN has been removed, cutting off access to the line northward to Geneva.
PA 321 northbound between Wilcox and Kane In October 1965, the section of PA 321 between Wilcox and north of Kane was unfunded. In March 1966, it was announced by the Pennsylvania Department of Highways that construction would begin later in the year on the section of PA 321 between the Elk County border and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad crossing between Kane and East Kane at a cost of $1.2 million. At this time, a decision was still needed for how the route would cross the railroad tracks into Kane, with surveys to be conducted. Also, there were no plans for PA 321 to bypass Kane.
The Allegheny Front is one of the windiest spots east of the Mississippi, leading to the recent establishment of wind farming there. This profile of the Allegheny Portage Railroad crossing the Allegheny Front gives valuable perspective at how the escarpment of the front and steepness of the gaps of the Allegheny created the final barrier range preventing easy settlement of the colonial and post-revolutionary-war west (today's Mid-west). It also illustrates the upland nature of the western side of the Front, the Allegheny Plateau but less clearly demonstrates the general barrier range nature of the other ridgelines of the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians.
The first section of Brandywine Road to be improved was from the Pope's Creek Branch railroad crossing east to North Keys Road, which was built by Prince George's County with state aid as a gravel road in 1911. By 1921, a segment of gravel road connected the Brandywine section with the Southern Maryland Road in the hamlet of T.B. at what is today the intersection of Brandywine Road and Old Brandywine Road east of MD 5. Construction on the remainder of MD 381 began in 1929 with the construction of three sections of gravel road between Brandywine to Aquasco. All three segments were completed by the end of 1930.
Ralph Lauren car collection Porsche 550 RS with amber European spec blinkers Backside of a running 1957 Porsche 550A Inspired by the Porsche 356 which was created by Ferry Porsche, as well as spyder prototypes built and raced by Walter Glöckler starting in 1951, the factory decided to build a car designed for use in auto racing. The Porsche 550 Spyder was introduced at the 1953 Paris Auto Show. The 550 was very low to the ground, in order to be efficient for racing. In fact, former German Formula One racer Hans Herrmann drove it under closed railroad crossing gates during the 1954 Mille Miglia.
A short distance later, the road crosses NJ Transit's Atlantic City Line near the Egg Harbor City station and enters Egg Harbor City, turning into Philadelphia Avenue. A block after the railroad crossing, Route 50 ends at an intersection with US 30 and CR 563 (White Horse Pike), with CR 563 continuing north on Philadelphia Avenue at this point. Route 50 is an important route linking the Atlantic City Expressway with the Jersey Shore resorts in Cape May County, serving as an alternate to more congested routes. It also serves as evacuation route from Cape May County to inland areas in the event of a hurricane.
Opponents of the annexation called it a "bad deal for all" on a website created to oppose the proposal. The site claimed that annexing Pacheco would be too costly for Martineza city already suffering a deficit, and that property taxes would go up for residents and businesses. The Contra Costa Times reported that annexation of an area along Interstate 680 from Highway 4 north to the Burlington-Northern Santa Fe railroad crossing was approved by the Contra Costa County Local Area Formation Commission earlier that year. LAFCO's Executive Officer Lou Ann Texeira said that commissioners would have to take action to terminate the annexation at the September 12 meeting.
Most of NY 31 is owned by the state of New York and maintained by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT); however, some sections of the route—mostly within cities—are locally owned and maintained. In the cities of Niagara Falls and Rochester, NY 31 is completely city-owned. Another city-maintained section exists in the city of Lockport from Washburn Street (five blocks east of NY 78) to the eastern city line. Two villages—Medina and Newark—also maintain parts of NY 31\. In Medina, the locally owned section begins at the Falls Road Railroad crossing in the village center and ends at Center Street (NY 31E).
From the south, LA 611-3 begins at an intersection with LA 611-1 (River Road) in Jefferson and, after passing the Jefferson Parish Streets Department facility, terminates at an intersection with U.S. 90 (Jefferson Highway). The route is known locally as Shrewsbury Road and is an undivided, two-lane highway for its entire length. LA 611-3 originally continued along Shrewsbury Road past U.S. 90 and across the railroad tracks to U.S. 61 (Airline Highway, now Airline Drive). The route was severed in June 1957 when the railroad crossing on Shrewsbury Road was closed following completion of the parallel Causeway Boulevard (LA 3046) overpass.
This site has been designated as a Georgia State Historical Landmark. Georgia State Highway 372 passes near it, which is by Ball Ground's downtown railroad crossing. A 1953 highway marker states: > BATTLE OF TALIWA > > Two and one-half miles to the east, near the confluence of Long-Swamp Creek > and the Etowah River, is the traditional site of Taliwa, scene of the > fiercest and most decisive battle in the long war of the 1740s and 50s > between the Cherokee and Creek Indians. > > There, about 1755, the great Cherokee war chief, Oconostota, led 500 of his > warriors to victory over a larger band of Creeks.
Maricopa Road was widened from a two-lane to a four-lane expressway in the early 1990s, and was also realigned to use Queen Creek Road to meet I-10. In 1997, the route was officially established as a state highway with its current routing. In Maricopa, north of the road's intersection with Alterra Parkway/Desert Cedars Drive, the road previously ran alongside Maricopa High School to the west, having a level crossing of the Union Pacific Railroad, and then having an at-grade intersection with Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. This railroad crossing caused traffic to stop for passing trains more than sixty times per day.
West San Jose School was built in 1936–7 by the now-defunct Bernalillo County school district. The existing school in the area, South Second Street, was a converted church with only three classrooms and was in a bad location adjacent to the railyard. Due to the inadequacy of this facility, many of the neighborhood students had been forced to attend the similarly crowded Barelas School, or the East San Jose School (the latter requiring a dangerous railroad crossing). The county superintendent, Margaret Easterday, wanted to replace the Barelas and South Second Street schools with a large new facility, but had only $2,500 available for the project.
The department has also adopted its own system for computerized tracking of crime information known as NASSTAT, now called Strat-Com. A Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor model NCPD marked patrol vehicle parked at Booth F in Wantagh. Patrol boat in Port Washington Traffic safety is a major department priority, given Nassau's relative lack of public transportation and its perpetually clogged roads and highways. A unique feature of the department is its Children's Safety Town, an actual village built to 1/3 scale that includes paved streets, two intersections equipped with traffic signals, an overpass, two tunnels, a simulated railroad crossing and 21 buildings.
SR 806 was previously part of State Route 18A SR 806 was originally part of former State Route 18A. That route, established by 1950, followed the present-day highway up to the railroad station at North Battle Mountain, then turned northwest paralleling the Western Pacific (now Union Pacific) railroad line and crossing into Humboldt County to end at a junction with State Route 18 just south of Getchell Mine. The route was about long, with most of that distance being unimproved surface. Most of the highway remained unimproved for several years, but the southernmost miles between Battle Mountain and the northern railroad crossing had been paved by 1963.
The complaint alleged that the defendants "had knowledge, actual or constructive, that the scene filmed on February 20 was to take place on active railroad tracks, without permission from CSX" and that they "knew of the danger presented by filming under those circumstances." In reply, CSX stated that it had repeatedly denied the producers permission to use its property and railroad trestle. It also revealed that its employees on two previous CSX trains saw the film crew congregating near CSX's property where there is also a railroad crossing. The Joneses' attorneys contended that given these warning signs CSX should have slowed the train and sent an investigator to the site.
The peak annual discharge has a 0.2 percent chance of reaching 460 cubic feet per second. The peak annual discharge of Sterry Creek at a ponding area upstream of the Delaware and Hudson Railroad crossing has a 10 percent chance of reaching 560 cubic feet per second and a 2 percent chance of reaching 560 cubic feet per second. It has a 1 percent chance of reaching 1490 cubic feet per second and a 0.2 percent chance of reaching 2640 cubic feet per second. Approximately upstream of Lane Street, the peak annual discharge has a 10 percent chance of reaching 410 cubic feet per second.
Prior to serving as State Representative, Angerer was the Communications Director for the Dundee Community Schools, where she successfully worked with a coalition of parents, teachers, and administrators to pass a millage expanding the size of Dundee High School. As a legislator, Representative Angerer was noted to author legislation brought to her by residents of her district. Two such examples include her legislation to fix problems with railroad crossing inspections and to expand the Michigan Promise Grant program. She also authored legislation creating a statewide Patient Safety Organization to which all state hospitals must report adverse effects for the purpose of learning from mistakes and improving patient safety.
View east at the west end of SR 145 at SR 10 in Chesterfield SR 145 begins at an intersection with SR 10 (Iron Bridge Road) in Chesterfield. The state highway heads east as two-lane Centralia Road toward the hamlet of Centralia, where the highway has a grade crossing of CSX's North End Subdivision. Just east of the railroad crossing, SR 145 meets the northern end of SR 144 (Chester Road). SR 145 turns north onto Chester Road, which is a four-lane divided highway from just south of the SR 144-SR 145 intersection to north of the state highway's diamond interchange with the SR 288 freeway.
Historically until 2003/2004, the village railroad crossing was unique only like one other location in the United States in that four different sets of railroad tracks ran through the village and crossed at one point. The double tracked CSX (former NYC, PC, Conrail) line is still frequently used, while the remains of the D&H; line west of the village is leased to SMS Rail lines, which services the Northeast Industrial Park under contract with Canadian Pacific. The West Shore line remained unused. In 2003 and 2004 the D&H; line east of the village was torn up, leaving the village crossing a part of history.
The type of crossing where the crash occurred is known as an interconnected crossing because of the need to link the railroad signals to the road signals to ensure safe passage. On this particular route, bus drivers on Algonquin Road had been known to cross the tracks to stop at the line at Northwest Highway, leaving them vulnerable to passing trains if they happened to still be stopped when the gates lowered. In addition, vehicle sensors were only present on the north side of the railroad tracks. Buses, trucks and other large vehicles were forced to pull through the railroad crossing in order to activate the signals at the intersection.
Upon reaching a partial interchange with access to and from the westbound direction of the Atlantic City Expressway, CR 575 becomes two lanes again and enters woodland. The road crosses CR 563 near the Atlantic City International Airport before coming into Galloway Township. Here, the route enters wooded residential areas within the community of Pomona, intersecting CR 686 and CR 605 before crossing NJ Transit’s Atlantic City Line. The route becomes Mays Landing-Port Republic Road at the railroad crossing and continues to an intersection with US 30 (White Horse Pike). After US 30, CR 575 crosses CR 633 before leaving Pomona and meeting CR 561.
It faded in importance as new and more direct routes into the city were constructed, namely the extensions of Jefferson Highway (1928) and Airline Highway (1940) into South Claiborne Avenue and Tulane Avenue, respectively. The final blow came in June 1957 when the railroad crossing on Shrewsbury Road was closed following completion of the nearby Causeway Boulevard overpass, leaving the once prominent road discontinuous. In 1915, Shrewsbury was connected to New Orleans by two streetcar lines. The first was the Orleans-Kenner interurban line (popularly known as the O-K Line), which provided service between Kenner and downtown New Orleans along the Jefferson Highway/Claiborne Avenue corridor.
A four-lane divided highway with interchanges at US 40 and MD 150 and an underpass of what was then the Pennsylvania Railroad was included in a list of access roads prepared by the Maryland State Roads Commission for the United States Department of War in 1940. MD 700 was constructed in 1941 before federal funding specifically for defense access roads was authorized by the Defense Highway Act of 1941. The state highway, which has only seen minor improvements since 1941, was designated MD 700 by 1946. MD 493 was removed from the state highway system by 1946 and the at-grade railroad crossing was gone by 1949.

MD 117's underpass of CSX's Metropolitan Subdivision rail line viewed from the highway's junction with MD 121 at Boyds MD 117 was widened from from Old Germantown to Little Seneca Creek in 1948. The gap between Old Germantown and Clopper was filled with a modern highway, including the modern bridge across Great Seneca Creek, and was brought into the state highway system in 1951 and 1952. MD 117 became a single highway when the county highway between Boyds and Old Germantown was brought into the state highway system in 1956. However, in 1959, MD 117's eastern terminus was rolled back to the railroad crossing at Boyds.
Sundered by the county boundaries running down the center of the river, West Brownsville economically was integrated with cross-river Brownsville by a ferry dating back into the early 1800s when Brownsville became a riverboat building and outfitting center. With construction of boats on nearby large tributaries, the shallow banks of West Brownsville were a favorite location to tie up and outfit a new built water craft to outfit it and load cargoes. The modern-day Main Street is notable for featuring on-street running by freight trains down the center of the street. Considered one railroad crossing, it is one of the longest crossings in the United States.
Lafayette Village is a historic district extending along Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. It encompasses a linear rural and industrial village, running from the Wickford Junction railroad crossing in the west to Angel Avenue in the east, and includes a number of residential properties on adjacent side streets. The centerpiece of the district is the Rodman Manufacturing Company complex, which operated here for a century beginning in the 1840s. The Robert Rodman Mansion, a Second Empire house with an elaborate porch, stands at 731 Ten Rod Road, and the Walter Rodman House, built in the 1870s, is even more elaborately decorated.
The state highway temporarily expands to a four-lane undivided highway between the railroad crossing and its intersection with English Muffin Way, which is the site of a Bimbo Bakeries USA factory. At the north end of the industrial area, MD 85 crosses Ballenger Creek and passes the George Markell Farmstead and the historic home Arcadia. The state highway expands to a four-lane undivided highway as it passes through a commercial area north of Executive Way. MD 85 intersects Crestwood Boulevard, which heads west into the suburb of Ballenger Creek, before the highway meets I-270 (Eisenhower Memorial Highway) at a partial cloverleaf interchange at a rakish angle.
The Oak Home, Leonidas Polk's midtown Corinth headquarters. The city of Corinth grew as a railroad town in the 1850s around the railroad crossing point of the Memphis and Charleston Railroad (opened 1857) and the Mobile and Ohio Railroad (opened 1861). This railroad junction, whose planning began in the mid-1850s, made Corinth a key economic junction point in the southern United States, and made it of critical military importance when the American Civil War broke out. Following the bloody Union victory at Shiloh in early April 1862, Confederate forces withdrew to Corinth, which they heavily fortified with earthworks and other defenses, in order to protect the critical railroad lines.
PA 54 a few miles southeast of Elysburg Upon crossing the Susquehanna River, PA 54 enters the borough of Riverside in Northumberland County and becomes Mill Street, crossing Norfolk Southern's Sunbury Line. Immediately after the railroad crossing, the route turns southeast onto Elysburg Road and runs between residential areas to the southwest and the Sunbury Line and the Susquehanna River to the northeast. The road leaves Riverside for Rush Township and heads through wooded areas alongside the railroad tracks and the river. The Sunbury Line and Susquehanna River curve east away from the road and the route continues southeast through farmland with some woods and development.

Langworth is located on part of the 8 square league Rancho Thompson granted by Mexican Governor Pío Pico to Alpheus Basil Thompson in 1846. Originally the site that became Langworth was the location of Islips Ferry, westernmost crossing of the Stanislaus River, on the route of the Stockton - Los Angeles Road. Founded in 1860 by Henry Langworthy, Langworth was a thriving town with its own post office from 1864 to 1871. The coming of the railroad crossing up river and the resulting establishment of Oakdale on the rail line, contributed to the town's decline, its post office closed and was moved to Oakdale in 1871.
The Douglaston station, looking west from the Douglaston Parkway overpass Douglaston–Little Neck is served by two stations on the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch. The Douglaston station is located at 235th Street and 41st Avenue, while the Little Neck station is located at Little Neck Parkway and 39th Road. The latter is located next to a busy railroad crossing with Little Neck Parkway, which is regarded as one of the most dangerous in New York City due to its high volume of traffic. Though there are no New York City Subway stations near Douglaston–Little Neck, the neighborhood is served by MTA Regional Bus Operations' local buses, which connect to the subway.
The highway meets the eastern end of Old Landover Road, which leads to the Landover station on the Washington Metro's Orange Line, before crossing over the Orange Line and Amtrak's Northeast Corridor. Immediately to the west of the railroad crossing is MD 202's junction with US 50 (John Hanson Highway), which is a combination of the partial cloverleaf and trumpet interchanges. The highway continues along the northern edge of the town of Cheverly and has a four-ramp partial cloverleaf interchange with the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, which is unsigned MD 295. West of the parkway, MD 202 enters the town of Bladensburg and reaches its northern terminus at MD 450 (Annapolis Road).
After passing Lezama the Autovía becomes a road again. At the south of Salado River, the route passes near to Estancia Villa La Raquel, a huge land with a castle built by the Guerrero family in Castelli Partido during the 19th century. This property is currently used for tourism "Un castillo inconfundible en los pagos de Castelli", La Nación Autovía 2 also passes near to the city of Dolores, next to Autódromo Ciudad de Dolores. At the south of General Guido, in the km 251, there is a railroad crossing with the General Roca branch-line to General Madariaga, although the service has been inactive since 2015, due to flooding of the Salado River.
The Whealton Memorial Causeway between the mainland and Chincoteague A causeway linking Chincoteague Island to the mainland was proposed by John B. Whealton, who formed the Chincoteague Toll Road and Bridge Company in 1919. On November 15, 1922, the causeway to Chincoteague Island was completed. Tolls were collected on the causeway until 1930. The road between US 13 in Oak Hall and Chincoteague Island became a part of the state highway system as SR 520 in August 1928. The route was extended onto Chincoteague Island in June 1930. In December of that year, SR 520 was extended south on US 13 and west along CR 107 to a railroad crossing west of Oak Hall.
Industrial buildings include the Randolph Coal and Ice Company building, and a large grain mill. Depot Square is lined with brick commercial buildings built in the 1870s and 1880s, that are fine examples of Second Empire and Late Victorian architecture. with The historic district is organized around the three sets of railroad tracks that run roughly east–west, roads that parallel them on either side (forming Depot Square), and stretches of Main Street (Vermont Route 12) and Pleasant Street that extend north from railroad crossing to their point of junction. The train depot is located at Salisbury and Main Streets, and commercial buildings line Main and Salisbury Streets, and Merchants Row in this area.
At the McMinn County Courthouse the routes turn onto a second one way pair specifically northbound along Jackson Street and southbound along White Street. The one way pair ends as the routes merge into Jackson Street at the Tennessee Wesleyan University between College Street and Coach Farmer Drive. On the verge of departing downtown, the road has one major intersection with Tennessee State Route 30 (Decatur Pike westbound and Green Street eastbound), then runs along the hills of the suburbanized landscape of the outskirts of the city. At an abandoned factory near a railroad line, Jackson Street ends as it makes a sharp turn west onto Redfern Drive, then crosses a railroad crossing before finally terminating at US 11.
Mcity contains five miles of roads and includes a mock town square, tunnel, highway exit ramps, a railroad crossing, gravel roadway, traffic circle, roundabout, and other obstacles. Faculty and engineering students will utilize Mcity to work on projects and to collaborate with automakers and suppliers who will test vehicle technology at the course. In 2019 professors Elliot Soloway and Cathie Norris founded the University of Michigan Center for Digital Curricula under the auspices of the University of Michigan College of Engineering for the purposes of building fully digital open curricula. This curricula is primarily designed to be delivered using the Collabrify Roadmaps software platform developed by the Norris and Soloway in the mid 2010s.
Mcity is the world's first controlled environment specifically designed to test the potential of connected and automated vehicle technologies that are expected to lead the way to mass-market driver-less cars. Students and faculty in the University of Michigan College of Engineering utilize Mcity to work on projects and to collaborate with automakers and suppliers who will test vehicle technology at the course. The site includes 4.25 lane miles of roadway that include several familiar features of urban driving, including signalized intersections, a railroad crossing, a roundabout, a traffic circle, brick and gravel roads, and parking spaces. Building facades can be moved and fake pedestrians can be altered for different kinds of tests.
Retail businesses generally line the two aforementioned county roads in the area but some single-family houses are clustered around the site of the Camden & Amboy railroad crossing of Prospect Plains Road. The location is the site of the Monroe Oak, a white oak tree present at the time of the township's establishment in 1838. Following the attempted development at the site of the tree to a gas station, the tree has been preserved and became the official symbol of Monroe Township. Prospect Plains was also the site of a railroad station on the Camden & Amboy Railroad, a one-room school house, and was the long-time home of the township's municipal office.
Two county highway gaps in the state highway from Van Bibber to Bel Air were resurfaced with macadam and brought into the state system in 1933. The two remaining portions of the MD 24 corridor to be built were completed through Edgewood and north of Bel Air in the 1930s. In 1930, Edgewood Road was built as a concrete road from US 40 just west of Van Bibber south to its entrance to Aberdeen Proving Ground at its Pennsylvania Railroad crossing (now Amtrak). Edgewood Road, which was originally designated MD 408, was constructed with a width of but was proposed for widening to as early as 1934 since it was the main entrance to the Edgewood Arsenal.
Edgewood Road was built as a concrete road from US 40 (now MD 7) in the community of Van Bibber south to its entrance to Aberdeen Proving Ground at its Pennsylvania Railroad crossing (now Amtrak) in 1930. The state highway, which was originally designated MD 408, was constructed with a width of but was proposed for widening to as early as 1934 since it was the main entrance to the Edgewood Arsenal. MD 408 received an underpass of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (now CSX) and approaches to the grade separation in 1939. MD 24 assumed all of MD 408 when MD 24 was extended south from MD 7 to Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1952.
Plans fell apart soon after, and in 1903, when the charter term ended, the old turnpike was turned over to the locals. Route 91 northbound at milepost 1.5 in New Brunswick The New Jersey State Highway Department used the alignment of the Lincoln Highway to designate State Highway Route 26 during the 1927 state highway renumbering from Trenton to New Brunswick. The route continued into New Brunswick, where it would end at Mill Run. As Route 26 left the path of the Trenton and New Brunswick Turnpike to cross the railroad, State Highway Route 26A was designated in 1941 legislature to continue on the former turnpike to a former railroad crossing in North Brunswick Township.
A shortlist of four sites for the 450-stall parking garage was drafted by Sound Transit and the city government in March 2017, including a proposal for Kaibara Park that was withdrawn after it was discovered that the property was owned by BNSF Railway and leased to the city. The remaining three sites were located to the north of the station along James Street at its railroad crossing. A site on the south side of James Street and east of Railroad Avenue was chosen by Sound Transit in November 2017 as the preferred site for the garage, following a recommendation from the city government. The parking garage is scheduled to begin construction in 2021 and open in 2023.
A railroad crossing next to the Putnam Division's Van Cortlandt Station was replaced with an underground pedestrian passageway in 1904 to allow safe pedestrian travel in the park. By 1942, the railroad was already seeing signs of decreased ridership: there were 600 daily riders on the Yonkers branch, down from 2,000 daily riders sixteen years prior. The Interstate Commerce Commission gave New York Central Railroad permission to abandon the branch on November 12, 1942. Subsequently, riders filed a lawsuit to keep the line open, and the federal lawsuit was heard by the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, who ruled in favor of the railroad on June 21, 1943.
Grayland station is a Metra commuter railroad station in the Old Irving Park neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois, along the Milwaukee District/North Line. It is located at 3729 North Kilbourn Avenue, is away from Union Station, the southern terminus of the line, and serves commuters between Union Station and Fox Lake, Illinois. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Grayland is in zone B. The station is an open platform shelter near the Union Pacific Railroad crossing/remote-Tower A-5. Parking is available on Kilbourn Avenue along the west side of the tracks south of Milwaukee Avenue, and on-street parking is also available on Kilbourn Avenue along the east side of the tracks north of Milwaukee Avenue.
I-195 (SR 112) eastbound towards Miami Beach SR 112 begins at the main entrance of Miami International Airport, at the intersection of NW 21st Street and State Road 953 (Le Jeune Road), and heads north. From here until the interchange with I-95, the road is known as the Airport Expressway and is maintained by the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX). For its first mile or so, the road runs parallel to SR 953 and an airport runway, with its lanes featuring a divided left-hand driving direction. About north of the southern terminus, SR 112 features an at-grade railroad crossing, near the eastern end of one of the airport's runways.
At that same time, Johnny Tran and his cousin Lance perform a drive-by shooting over an earlier dispute, prompting Brian and Dom to pursue them in separate cars. Dom disables Lance in his Dodge Charger while Brian kills Tran by shooting him in the side, causing him to fall off of his dirt bike at high speed. Dom then challenges Brian to a quarter-mile drag race on a stretch of road that has a railroad crossing as the finish line. The two finish in a tie, narrowly beating an oncoming train, but Dom immediately collides with a semi truck advancing from a side street, causing his vehicle to flip multiple times.
Maryland Route 268 was the designation for the Port Deposit Road, which ran from US 40 (now MD 7) in Perryville north to US 1 at Conowingo in western Cecil County. The first stretch of the highway to be improved was in Perryville, where Cecil County constructed with state aid a macadam road from the Aikin station on the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad south toward the Post Road by 1910. Cecil County extended the macadam road to the Post Road by 1919. The highway from the Aikin railroad crossing to Port Deposit was paved as a concrete road in two sections: from the railroad to near Port Deposit by 1921 and through Port Deposit by 1923.
NY 146A north in Ballston A two-lane highway, NY 146A heads northward as Vischer Ferry Road from a four-way intersection with NY 146 at Vischer Ferry Road (County Route 90 or CR 90), which continues southward from that intersection to Crescent Road (CR 92) in Vischer Ferry. After passing over a railway, NY 146A turns westward and becomes Ballson Lake Road, passing by the Van Patten Golf Course and a link to Ushers. After crossing Ashdown Road, NY 146A turns northward, descending into the hamlet of Ballston Lake, where it has a railroad crossing. After passing the eastern terminus of CR 339, it becomes Midline Road, heading northward to its eventual terminus at NY 50.
The overlap ends at East Alma Street and CR A10 makes a right turn. It is here that the road runs parallel along the east side of a former Southern Pacific Railroad line, now part of Union Pacific Railroad, although it briefly moves away from the tracks between East Ivy Street and north of East Hinckley Street with the north end of Chestnut Street in between. Shortly after returning to the side of the tracks it encounters a railroad crossing of a spur leading to the south side of the mountain almost to . Shortly after passing by some industrial zoning, the remnant of an even older section of US 99 can be found at Ski Village Drive.
Unlike the DeLorean, the external components of the Time Train were symmetrical on both sides of the vehicle, possibly representing a more sophisticated grasp of the time travel technology on Doc's part, despite being constructed from more primitive materials. Interestingly, before the Time Train appeared in 1985, it triggered the bells and gates on the nearby railroad crossing as if another train was coming. This could mean that the Time Train is so powerful that it enables a connection with its destination time even before arriving to that point of time. Following its completion and its first time travel test, Doc and his family traveled to 2015 and beyond to give it a hover conversion, allowing it to fly just like the DeLorean.
From there, the route is a partially divided road until just short of a railroad crossing and eventually crossing the Pajaro River into Santa Clara County. The route then heads northwest, and at the intersection with Bloomfield Avenue, the route then curves west before its northern terminus at U.S. Route 101 south of Gilroy. SR 25 is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System, and a small portion near Hollister is part of the National Highway System, a network of highways that are considered essential to the country's economy, defense, and mobility by the Federal Highway Administration. SR 25 is eligible to be included in the State Scenic Highway System, but it is not officially designated as a scenic highway by the California Department of Transportation.
Two old sections of Cobb Road used to exist. One is to the right north of County Road 484 (West Fort Dade Avenue), and the other is a mining road that runs from the intersection with Yontz Road to an isolated section of County Road 476 (Lake Lindsey Road) in Stafford. Crossing the railroad tracks a second time after the intersection with Yontz Road (Former County Road 485B), the road winds through a rural field between a mining area and a hilly region before finally reuniting with US 98 south of the Willow Prairie Lake area. Truck Weigh Stations exist just west of the northern terminus of Truck US 98 on the right of way of a former railroad crossing.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s the Richmond Parkway was built along Richmond's western industrial and northwestern parkland, connecting Interstates 80 and 580. In the early 1900s, the Santa Fe railroad established a major railyard next to Point Richmond. It constructed a tunnel through the Potrero San Pablo ridge to run track from the yard to a ferry landing from which freight cars could be transshipped to San Francisco. Where this track crosses the main street in Point Richmond, there remain two of the last operational wigwag grade crossing signals in the United States, and the only surviving examples of the "upside- down" type. The wigwag is a type of railroad crossing signal that was phased out in the 1970s and '80s across the country.
In the 2000 census, the CDP included an area bounded on the east by the Tittabawassee River, north to State Street, west to N. Miller Road, south to Geddes Road, west to N. Thomas Road, south to M-46/Gratiot Road, east to Swan Creek, south to the railroad crossing on Schomaker Road, east along the rail tracks to Stroebel Road, northwest to Ronald Drive and east to the Tittabawassee River. Most of the CDP is within Thomas Township with a small portion extending into northwest James Township.Shields CDP, Michigan Reference Map , U.S. Census Bureau, 2000 census A post office operated in Shields from August 15, 1894 until Dec 15, 1902. The Shields brothers William and Arthur were born in 1811 and 1817 respectively in Ireland.
The cars were put on public display in Tacoma and Seattle over the following months to promote light rail projects. As light rail construction prepared to reach Commerce Street, Qwest filed a lawsuit against Sound Transit to receive compensation for relocating its telecommunications lines away from the tracks; a U.S. District Court judge ruled in favor of Sound Transit, due to the use of public right of way by Qwest for their telecommunications lines. Another dispute, with BNSF Railway over a railroad crossing on Pacific Avenue that would intersect the light rail tracks, was settled in January 2003 with an agreement to suspend freight operations through the intersection. Commerce Street was re-opened for use by buses in February 2003 as light rail construction neared completion.
The Ririe B Pegram Truss Railroad Bridge is a Pegram truss railroad bridge which crosses the flood channel of the Snake River north of Ririe, Idaho. The single-span bridge, which carries a single track of the East Belt Branch, is long and wide. The bridge was originally constructed for a Union Pacific Railroad crossing in Nyssa, Oregon in 1894 and was relocated to its current site in 1914, where it carried Oregon Short Line Railroad tracks. The bridge's Pegram truss design was the work of George H. Pegram, the chief engineer for Union Pacific; as Pegram held a patent on the design, all surviving Pegram truss bridges were commissioned during Pegram's tenure with the Union Pacific and Missouri Pacific railroads.
In Baldwin US 301 crosses railroad tracks that serve the suspended Amtrak Sunset Limited before making a right turn at a concurrency with US 90 for several blocks. This concurrency may become history if the Florida Department of Transportation decides to build the proposed Baldwin Bypass around the western edge of town.US 301 Expansion; Baldwin Bypass (FDOT, Region #2) Immediately after another railroad crossing, both US 90 and 301 narrow down to two lanes at the east end of this concurrency. US 301 remains a two- lane rural highway until it reaches Callahan where it crosses over a railroad bridge and gets the name West First Avenue, although this segment is planned to be widened to four lanes by FDOT.
The ticket barriers, October 2008 The station consists of a ground- level island platform serving two tracks. Previously there was only one ticket gate, at the south exit, and the platform and station building were connected by an underground passageway. In order to make it accessible, and to prevent traffic accidents at the railroad crossing outside the station, it was decided that it would be rebuilt as an over-track station with a north exit, elevators and escalators. It was also decided to add a free passageway over the tracks as well as elevators and an escalator on the north end, and construction began in October 2007, with the new station building opening on 16 December of the same year.
The highway was surfaced with macadam along an existing road from Seven Locks Road to what is today Huntington Parkway, then along new alignment south and east to the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Bradley Lane. The portion of Bradley Lane from MD 193 (now MD 185) to MD 186 was included in the state highway system as of 1939, but it is not clear when it was removed. State maps no longer show Bradley Lane east of MD 193 by 1946, but it is labelled a state highway on federal maps in the 1960s. MD 191 was expanded to a divided highway from U.S. Route 240 (now MD 355) west to the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad railroad crossing (now the Capital Crescent Trail) by 1945.
US 23/341 and northbound US 221 run for one block until the routes curve to the north at East Coffee (GA Connecting Route 19) and West Jamar Streets, and northbound US 221 finally re-joins the southbound road once again at North Tallahassee Street, while northbound US 23/341 continues towards Eastman, Perry, Barnesville, Macon, Atlanta and Dillard. Heading into more rural surroundings, US 221/SR 135 passes by Jeff Davis Country Club, and later becomes the Uvalda Highway, passing by Tallahassee off to the northwest. Curving towards the east-northeast, the road passes through the territory of the Beasley Forest Products lumber yard, which contains a railroad line that ends on the southeast side of the road at an abandoned railroad crossing.
Terminus Gonzenheim After the railroad crossing Homburger Landstraße immediately after the station Bonames Mitte lies on the right hand side the Friedrich-Fauldrath-Anlage, which is a relic of the former tram turning loop. Then the route follows for a short stretch of Steinernen Straße, a historic main street from Mainz into the Wetterau, and then turns towards Nieder- Eschbach, the last district before the city limits. Nieder-Eschbach has a turning facility and since its conversion to automatic operation has been the terminus for a number of trains, as only one in two trains runs to Gonzenheim in the slower traffic times. Between Nieder-Eschbach and Ober-Eschbach, the route crosses the A5, which follows here approximately the city boundary between Frankfurt and Bad Homburg.
West of the city limits, one last state route can be found in the county, specifically, the Georgia State Route 122 Connector. All other intersections along US 129/SRs 11/37 are local streets or county roads. Just after the routes cross the Lanier-Berrien County Line, they intersect Johnson Street Extension, and Myers Road, then runs through the forestland surrounding Beaverdam Creek before eventually entering Ray City, where it becomes Main Street, curves almost straight west, and serves as the southwestern terminus of Georgia State Route 64. After a railroad crossing, the concurrency with Georgia State Route 37 ends as US 129/SR 11 starts curving to the north and is joined by another concurrency, this time with Georgia State Route 125.
It can be configured into different layouts and is also multi-directional. The trails have varying terrain and provide moderate-to-extreme elevation conditions. Natural features such as water, rock, and bridge crossings have been incorporated into the trail system. Obstacle Course: Consisting of unique obstacles for off-road vehicles and ATVs, the obstacle course is a natural trail consisting of a loop with nine features. These features are a railroad crossing, a concrete course with potholes, a 45-degree off-camber trail, a 15-degree concrete slope with three sets of rollers, a switchback, a 150-foot “rock crawl,” an articulation, a water crossing with adjustable water level, and 20 feet of concrete stairs that are 10 feet wide.
The NTSB and FRA now mandate that air and parking brakes be applied to all engines or trains laying idle, regardless of the length of time that they will be laid up. The report also suggested that the pavement along each of the crossings be repaved to allow both trains and street traffic to move over the crossings more gently. In addition, they recommended that more advanced railroad crossing signs, and eventually crossing gates, be installed along the branch to protect motorists. The MTA made major changes to the Bushwick Branch, replacing wooden crossbucks with flashing lights on overhead gantries at the Metropolitan Avenue crossing, and only the crossbucks on a large pole seen at all other crossings on the branch.
However, the Maryland General Assembly disagreed with the Maryland State Roads Commission and passed a bill in 1914 requiring the commission to finish the boulevard between Glen Burnie and South Baltimore. The Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard was constructed as a wide concrete road from Glen Burnie to Pumphrey and from the Patapsco River to the English Consul Estate in 1914 and 1915. The northernmost part of the boulevard was constructed as a wide street surfaced with asphalt, bricks, and granite blocks from Westport into the city, where the highway followed Russell Street, Bush Street, and Ridgely Street to the B&O; Railroad crossing southwest of the present location of M&T; Bank Stadium. The final section of the Baltimore- Annapolis Boulevard was completed in 1916 as a wide concrete road from Pumphrey to the Patapsco River.
Glen Arm is an unincorporated community in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. Glen Arm lies along what is now Glen Arm Road, which was once part of Old Harford Road, one of the early routes used for conveying agricultural products from parts of Harford and Baltimore Counties and southern Pennsylvania to the port of Baltimore. Glen Arm was also served until 1958 by the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad (the "Ma & Pa"). In 1921, at the railroad's crossing of Glen Arm Road, what generally is recognized as the nation's first train-actuated railroad crossing signal was installed by the railroad's Superintendent of Signals, Charles Adler, Jr. Adler later designed early traffic-actuated traffic lights for the City of Baltimore, and also invented the system of flashing warning lights used on aircraft.
After crossing the creek, the road intersects MD 308 (South Main Street). The road passes an industrial park before turning north into wooded areas and crossing the Maryland and Delaware Railroad's Seaford Line at-grade. After the railroad crossing, MD 313 and MD 318 intersect MD 307 (Williamsburg Road) at a roundabout located in the southwestern corner of Federalsburg. A short distance later, MD 318 splits from MD 313 by heading west on Preston Road while MD 315 continues east into Federalsburg on Bloomingdale Avenue. Past this intersection, MD 313 continues north on the Federalsburg Highway, leaving the Federalsburg area and heading into a mix of woodland and farmland. Shields for MD 16, MD 313, and MD 404 along a concurrency in AndersontownIn Andersontown, MD 313 intersects MD 16 and MD 404 (Shore Highway).
This concurrency may disappear if the Florida Department of Transportation decides to build the proposed Baldwin Bypass around the western edge of town.US 301 Expansion; Baldwin Bypass (FDOT, Region #2) Immediately after another railroad crossing with the CSX Callahan Subdivision, both US 90 and 301 narrow down to two lanes at the east end of this concurrency, and then US 90 re-enters Jacksonville. As it passes along the north side of Cecil Airport, the road intersects CR 119, where the name changes from Lake City Road back to Beaver Street. It then runs north of the current northern terminus of the First Coast Expressway (State Road 23), which is intended to be extended to US 90\. Next is the intersection of Chaffee Road, which is now CR 115C south of US 90\.
Shortly afterwards, it crosses the I-90 segment of the New York State Thruway just west of where I-490 leaves the Thruway. While NY 19 is signed for this exit along the Thruway, access to it comes via the first exit on I-490, which is accessed via connector roads as the two highways do not directly intersect. alt=A wide street with a double yellow line and buildings on either side, more on the left than the right. American flags are on the lampposts, and signs both on the road and next to it indicate the railroad crossing in the distance. North of the Thruway, NY 19 enters the village of Bergen, intersecting NY 33 south of the village and NY 262 in the community itself.
The station Staaken Kr. Nauen for domestic traffic within the GDR was moved west to the Feldstraße. There the passenger trains from direction Wustermark ended at a separate head track south of the protective wall to the transit tracks. Formerly located in the death strip railway crossing "Elephant Gate", 1991 At the new station Staaken Kr. Nauen was for the transition of the field road on the transit tracks probably the safest railroad crossing in the world: Because here the protective wall had to be interrupted, instead of barriers massive roller shutters secured the sealed transit corridor in train traffic through Staaken. On West Berlin side of the S-Bahn operation ended after Staaken after not even 30 years as a result of the Berlin S-Bahn strike in 1980.
Emergency vehicles of any kind (fire truck, ambulance, police car) are highly likely to be involved in hazardous situations, including relatively common incidents such as a road traffic collision. They are also required to gain access to incidents as quickly as possible, and in many countries, are given dispensation from obeying certain traffic laws; for instance, they may be able to treat a red traffic light or stop sign as a give way, or be permitted to break the speed limit. However, emergency vehicles usually are not able to treat a railroad crossing as a give way, because a train cannot be warned in time to stop before the crossing to let the vehicle through. Hence, one of the few things emergency vehicles must yield to are heavy freight and passenger trains.
The predecessor highway to MD 700 was MD 493, which was a state-maintained portion of Orems Road constructed around 1933. MD 493 began at a creek crossing due south of Martin Plaza Shopping Plaza, headed east along Orems Road and present-day Old Orems Road to an at-grade railroad crossing of the Pennsylvania Railroad, then continued east on present-day Baker Avenue to Eastern Avenue just west of the Baker Avenue right-in/right-out junction with MD 700. Prior to construction of MD 700, the only highway connection to the Glenn L. Martin Company aircraft manufacturing plant in Middle River, which was established in 1929, was MD 150. However, upcoming war conditions as a result of World War II required improved connections to military reservations and manufacturers critical to the war effort.
A child on a Big Wheel in 1973 (Rogers Park, Chicago) The Marx logo was the letters "MAR" in a circle with a large X through it, resembling a railroad crossing sign (Richardson & Richardson 1999, p. 66). As the X sometimes goes unseen, Marx toys were, and are still today, often misidentified as "Mar" toys. Reputedly, because of this name confusion, the Italian diecast toy company Martoys, after two years of production, changed its name to Bburago in 1976. Although the Marx name is now largely forgotten except by toy collectors, several of the products that the company developed remain strong icons in popular culture, including Rock'em Sock'em Robots, introduced in 1964, and its best-selling sporty Big Wheel tricycle, one of the most popular toys of the 1970s.
Senator Ralph Quattrociocchi Memorial Highway Quattrociocchi's accomplishments include securing state funding to extend New York State Route 531 to Ogden, New York, forming a senate task force on teen stress, and instituting "Operation Watch" to reduce the likelihood of mishaps at railroad crossing signals. In 1988, Quattrociocchi was swept up in Robert M. Morgenthau's investigation of Senate Minority Leader Manfred Ohrenstein and the alleged misuse of state monies to fund the 1986 campaigns of several state Senators. The presiding judge found that Quattrociocchi was aware that a full- time aide had been hired for the sole purpose of campaigning, but since the deed had taken place outside of New York County, the District Attorney had no jurisdiction. District Attorneys in Albany and Monroe counties subsequently declined to prosecute.
A group of railroad surveyors for the Northern Pacific Railway arrived in modern-day Darrington in 1870 while plotting the potential route for a railroad crossing the Cascades to Lake Chelan, but ultimately chose Stampede Pass to the south. The North Stillaguamish Valley was nicknamed "Starve Out" by early settlers, who arrived alone and underprepared for the area's conditions, leading to several difficult winters. Soldiers sent to the area by the valley settlers threatened to evict the Sauk-Suiattles were threatened with eviction; this did not occur as the settlers' claim that the SAuk- Suiattle had attacked them hostile people was determined to unfounded. The tribe later hired surveyors to record their claims to the eastern side of the Sauk River, lands that currently comprise their Indian reservation.
Amtrak station in Hammond, Louisiana, refurbished with a passenger platform along the original path of the New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern Part of the original route of the New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern, still operational in the Canadian National Railway line at this railroad crossing in Hammond, Louisiana. The New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern was a gaugeConfederate Railroads - New Orleans, Jackson & Great Northern railway originally commissioned by the State of Illinois, with both Stephen Douglas and Abraham Lincoln being among its supporters in the 1851 Illinois Legislature. It connected Canton, Mississippi, with New Orleans and was completed just prior to the American Civil War, in which it served strategic interests, especially for the Confederacy. The New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern was largely in ruins by the end of the War.
It crossed the Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg at a level railroad crossing, ran through a 106-meter tunnel underneath Avenue Rapp and Avenue Bosquet, crossed the Avenue de la Bourdonnais and ran then through a deep cut past the Eiffel Tower, made then a perpendicular turn left onto Avenue de Suffren and followed it to the final stop at the Galerie des Machines. In addition to the two termini, there were three stops at the Quai d'Orsay: the first at the Malar intersection, the second opposite the Palais des Produits Alimentaires, the third at the corner of Quai d'Orsay and Avenue de Suffren. The infrastructure and rolling stock were supplied by the Decauville company. The line was double-tracked with a distance of two meters between the opposing tracks.
Following the killings, Louisiana Governor John M. Parker sought help from the U.S. Department of Justice in suppressing Klan violence within the state.—Thomas R. Pegram, One Hundred Percent American: The Rebirth and Decline of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s (Lanham, MD: Ivan R. Dee, 2011), pp. 172-174. On October 5, 2014, a Union Pacific Railroad freight train lead by Norfolk Southern GE D9-44CW #9939 and Union Pacific GE AC400CW #6387, which was still wearing a patched out Southern Pacific Railroad paint scheme, struck a stuck semi truck at a railroad crossing. The truck driver and the crew of the freight train survived, but locomotive #9939 was damaged beyond repair and scrapped, while locomotive #6387 was repaired and repainted into the Union Pacific Armour Yellow scheme.

Abahachi (Michael Herbig), chief of the Apache, and his blood brother Ranger (Christian Tramitz) are an inseparable pair since Ranger saved Abahachi from a speeding train at an unguarded railroad crossing. When they aim to buy a pub with the monetary help of Shoshone chief Stinking Lizard ("Listiger Lurch" in the German original - "Cunning Amphibian") through supposed Wyoming real estate agent Santa Maria (Sky du Mont), the deal as well as the pub, which turns out to be just a prop-up facade, collapse. Santa Maria kills Stinking Lizard's son ("Falscher Hase " in the German original - "Fake Hare", a German colloquial expression for meatloaf), who was supposed to deliver the loan. Stinking Lizard believes Santa Maria's claims that Abahachi and Ranger killed the chief's son, and upon their return to the Shoshone tribe, the two find themselves unjustly charged with murder.
Between 1994 and 2002, M-5 was extended further northward along the right-of- way that had been reserved for I-275, but as a grade-level expressway with traffic lights at 13 Mile, 14 Mile, and Maple Roads, and a grade-level railroad crossing between Maple Road and M-5's northern terminus at Pontiac Trail. Local residents continue to resist further expansion, even as Commerce Township slowly succumbs to urban sprawl. In addition to the resistance against I-275, a planned extension from Northwestern Highway to I-275 was shelved in the 1970s as part of the same revolt. Although talks of reviving the Northwestern Extension continued for decades, development of the land along the proposed extension's right-of-way, including a strip mall right at Northwestern's current terminus, has effectively ended any chance of such a freeway being constructed.
At Kuranose High School in Tokyo, Japan, 17 year old Makoto Konno discovers a message written on a blackboard and ends up inadvertently falling upon a walnut-shaped object. On her way home, she is ejected into a railroad crossing when the brakes on her bicycle fail and is hit by an oncoming train, but finds herself transported back to the point in time when she was riding her bicycle right before the accident. After entering the Tokyo National Museum to meet with Kazuko Yoshiyama, she explains to Makoto after hearing her story that clearly, she now has the power to "time-leap", to literally leap through time. At first, Makoto uses her powers to avoid being late, getting perfect grades, and even relive a single karaoke session for several hours, but soon discovers her actions can adversely affect others.
It then reaches the partial interchange with the Snapper Creek Expressway (SR 878); indeed, southbound motorists along the Don Shula Expressway who wish to exit to Kendall Drive are directed onto the westernmost portion of SR 878. Once past the Snapper Creek Expressway, SR 874 features no interchanges for the remainder of its route. Just north of the bridge over Sunset Drive (SR 986), about north of SR 878, motorists in both directions are provided with a separated lane to take their vehicles to if caught in an accident. past the accident investigation sites, the Don Shula Expressway swings north over the railroad, crossing over Galloway Road (SR 973) in the process, and resumes its northeasterly orientation, now forming the boundary between the communities of Olympia Heights, to the road's north, and Glenvar Heights, to the south.
It crosses Lake Estelle on the Andrews Causeway before reaching the border between Orlando and Winter Park. In Seminole County, the redevelopment of the 17-92 Community Redevelopment Area is handled by the US 17-92 Community Redevelopment Agency, a component unit of the County government. In Sanford, Florida, US 17/US 92 shares a concurrency with westbound SR 46 beginning at Paola Road (CR 46A) and 25th Street. During this triple-concurrency, US 17/US 92/SR 46 intersects an at-grade railroad crossing with a freight line at the intersection of West 13th Street, also the western terminus of CR 415, and then a pair of railroad crossings at a junction of two other freight lines. The routes turn left at the intersection of First Street, and the wrong way concurrency between US 92 and SR 46 becomes more geographically accurate.
Within Soperton US 221/SR 56 gains the name Mount Vernon Road, but north of Fowler Street and South Third Street, it curves to the right to intersect and become South Second Street. Further in town, the routes have an intersection with SRs 15/29 (West and East Main Streets) just before a railroad crossing. SR 15 briefly joins US 221/SR 56 from East Main Street for two blocks before turning left onto West Louisiana Avenue, where that route joins another concurrency with SR 78. At Metter Road, US 221/SR 56 intersects SR 46, then the name changes from North Second Street to Swainsboro Highway. The routes curve to the east-northeast, and just as it leaves the city limits runs along the northern edge of Treutlen County Airport (SR 46 runs along the southern edge),Treutlen County Airport- 4J8 (AirNav.
From there it passes by a pair of agriculture-related factories. Though signs on I-94 direct motorists to MT 200S, the road does not encounter that route until Alder Avenue in West Glendive, north of a parallel railroad crossing. Dividing again at another bridge over Dry Creek, the route begins to curve to the east, the road starts to run along the north side of some parkland, which also borders a former section of the road named Crisafulli Drive just before approaching the southern terminus of MT 16 and immediately crosses a railroad line on the border of West Glenside and Glendive. The road narrows down from four lanes with a center left-turn lane to two lanes before crossing the bridge over the Yellowstone River and at the intersection of River Avenue and Douglas Street enters the Merrill Avenue Historic District.
Dating back to the original Tongva residents of the area, the Arroyo Seco canyon has always served as a major transportation corridor. Today it links downtown Los Angeles with Pasadena, the west San Gabriel Valley and the San Gabriel Mountains. 1886 view of the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Railroad crossing the Arroyo Seco near Garvanza - Highland Park Pasadena and Los Angeles Electric Railway and Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley Railroad train in the Arroyo Seco Santa Fe Arroyo Seco Railroad Bridge with a Gold line Tram crossing By 1886 the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley Railroad had been established from Downtown Los Angeles with a grand wooden trestle that cut a straight line crossing from the west side to the east. The wooden trestle was replaced with the Santa Fe Arroyo Seco Railroad Bridge.
North of the bypass, the routes travel along South Main Street which passes just to the west of Georgia Southern University and later cuts between the W. Jones Lane Memorial Park and Charles H. Henry Pines Nature preserve. Before this, a former section of US 25/US 301/SR 73 travels along the west side from Woodland Road cutting through the W. Jones Lane park and ending at the southwest corner of the intersection with Tillman Road. They curve to the north-northeast and cross over Little Lotts Creek, and later encounters a railroad crossing with two different railroad lines crossing each other at the intersection of Brannen Street immediately south of SR 67 (Fair Road) where another concurrency begins. Further downtown, US 25/US 301/SR 67/SR 73 travels through the edge of the South Main Street Residential Historic District.
View north along SR 134 entering York County from Hampton SR 134 begins at an intersection with US 60 and SR 143 (Settlers Landing Road) at the west end of downtown Hampton; Armistead Avenue heads south from the intersection as an unnumbered street. SR 134 heads north as four-lane divided Armistead Avenue, which intersects SR 351 (Pembroke Avenue) and the Phoebus Branch of CSX's Peninsula Subdivision before reaching I-64 (Hampton Roads Beltway). All connections between SR 134 and I-64 are accounted for through intersections with Rip Rap Road, which the highway intersects just north of the railroad crossing; La Salle Avenue, which the highway meets just north of the I-64 overpass; and direct ramps to the north of La Salle Avenue. North of La Salle Avenue, SR 134 crosses Newmarket Creek and intersects US 258 (Mercury Boulevard).
State Route 528 (4th Street) at a railroad crossing in Downtown Marysville, looking east towards State Avenue and Mount Pilchuck Marysville is located along the east side of Interstate 5 (I-5), which connects the city to Vancouver, British Columbia to the north and Seattle to the south. The freeway has four exits serving Marysville, located at 4th Street in Downtown, 88th Street NE near Quil Ceda Village, 116th Street NE near Kruse Junction, and 172nd Street NE near Smokey Point. Several state highways also run within Marysville city limits, including State Route 9, State Route 528 (4th Street and 64th Street), State Route 529 (State Avenue), and State Route 531 (172nd Street NE). The city's primary north–south arterial street, State Avenue, was formerly part of U.S. Route 99 and has been widened and improved in segments since 2000.
The situation of Buridan's ass was given a mathematical basis in a 1984 paper by American computer scientist Leslie Lamport, in which Lamport presents an argument that, given certain assumptions about continuity in a simple mathematical model of the Buridan's ass problem, there is always some starting condition under which the ass starves to death, no matter what strategy it takes. He further illustrates the paradox with the example of a driver stopped at a railroad crossing trying to decide whether he has time to cross before a train arrives. He proves that regardless of how "safe" the policy the driver adopts, because indecision can cause an indefinite delay in action a small percentage of drivers will be hit by the train. Lamport calls this result "Buridan’s principle": :A discrete decision based upon an input having a continuous range of values cannot be made within a bounded length of time.
On the opposite side, a North Ponce de Leon Avenue runs along the northern edge of Deepdene Park while US 23/US 29/US 78/SR 8 branches off to the northeast traveling along the south side of that park, awaiting the reunification of North Ponce de Leon Avenue with its parent street. US 278/SR 10 branches off to the southeast onto East Lake Road Northeast, and the first notable feature is the St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church, across from a triangle with US 23/US 29/US 78/SR 8, which also has a Jefferson Davis Highway marker. East Lake Road Northeast travels southeast as a two-lane road with a continuous center-left turn lane that is momentarily suspended by a divider at a railroad crossing as it enters East Lake, Georgia. The road curves south and has an intersection with a connecting road to West Howard Avenue.
The road divides once again at the intersection with Hercules Avenue (unmarked CR 425), and after this SR 590 shifts onto Northeast Coachman Road, while the rest of Drew Street continues east becoming an undivided highway as it heads toward Bright House Field. Along Northeast Coachman Road, SR 590 runs northeast as it intersects another major county road known as CR 501 (Belcher Road), which runs from Gulfport to Tarpon Springs. A less important but nevertheless unique intersection within some preserved land along Alligator Creek is with Old Coachman Road (unmarked CR 535), since it also includes a railroad crossing for the CSX Clearwater Subdivision, and the Ream Wilson Trail. Leaving the preserved land, the road is surrounded by residential development once again and then becomes a divided highway as it approaches a power-line right-of-way and later the U.S. Route 19 in Florida interchange.
The current cloverleaf interchange has been the source of many accidents due to the growth of the cities of Ozark, Nixa, and Branson to the south. Also, the railroad crossing, which crosses not only the freeway itself, but the ramp from east 60 to south 65, has also resulted in numerous accidents from vehicles stopping because of a train passing or because they are required to (buses or trucks carrying hazardous materials). The current highway, James River Freeway, curves and then travels down a steep grade to the interchange with US 65 then crosses James River before going up a steep grade and curve before heading east towards Rogersville, MO. Completed in October 2012, a large project replaced the two eastern loops with flyover ramps. The northbound US 65 bridge over US 60, as well as the westbound US 60 bridge over James River were replaced.
The portion of MD 316 between its southern terminus and what is now Belle Hill Road was originally part of MD 279, which continued along Belle Hill Road to its current course. Both the Newark Road and the Barksdale Road, which followed what is now MD 316 north from the Newark Road toward the village of Barksdale north of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O; Railroad, now CSX's Philadelphia Subdivision), were planned to be built by the state but were instead constructed by Cecil County with state aid. Work on both macadam roads was underway by 1911, and the Barksdale Road was completed to Elk Mills Road by 1915. The Barksdale Road was planned to be extended north through the village of Cowenton in 1917, but those plans were cancelled with the United States' entry into World War I. A disjoint segment of the Barksdale Road was built from the B&O; Railroad crossing through Barksdale in 1921 and 1922.
After passing by Hakone-Yumoto Station, the runners run past (or in earlier editions, run through) the Kanreidoumon Gallery to begin their climbs, and pass by various Hakone sights such as the Fujiya Hotel, Hakone Kowakien, a railroad crossing for the Hakone Tozan Line, and Hakone Keimei Gakuen before reaching the highest point of National Route 1 at 16.2 km. Finally, the runners run through the town of Moto-Hakone under the Torii of Hakone Shrine at 19 km, and reach the finish line at Lake Ashi. Colloquially called , leg 5 is considered to be one of the most grueling sections of the race that sees runners climb up to 874 m at the highest point of leg. While almost all competitors forego tank tops and opt to dress in long sleeved apparel to combat the low temperatures, leg 5 sometimes sees runners fall to conditions such as hypothermia and hypoglycemia due to its trying nature.
To the chairman, the strongest evidence for his theory was the way she had calmly left the ML350 to inspect its rear and remove the barrier that had gotten caught on it. "Someone in a good state of mind, as this driver apparently was, who is aware that they are in close proximity to a railroad crossing, and in imminent danger of being struck by a train going 60 mph, would not act this way", Sumwalt said. He noted that in another grade crossing accident in California shortly after the Vallhalla crash, a driver had turned his pickup truck onto the tracks inadvertently out of confusion created by a nearby intersection. Sumwalt reiterated the report's call for the makers of GPS navigation hardware and software to incorporate the FRA's database of grade crossings into their products so that drivers using them had additional awareness that they were crossing active tracks when they did so.
From there the route runs along the north side of the historic Columbia Arsenal, and several blocks after a railroad crossing it serves as the northern terminus of Tennessee State Route 243. Closer to downtown Columbia, the road becomes line with more historic sites along with some locally notable ones, such as the West Seventh Church of Christ and the Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home, then the NRHP-listed Robert Church House, and across from that the headquarters for WKRM-AM/WKOM-FM. This is followed by the St. Peter's Episcopal Church across from the local Knights of Columbus chapter, and then the James K. Polk Home and Sisters' House across from the Maury County Visitor's Center. Entering the Columbia Commercial Historic District, West Seventh Street approaches Maury County Courthouse Square, but one block before that street circles around the courthouse, US BUS 412, joins a northbound multiplex with US 31 (North Garden Street).

The state highway has a trumpet interchange with the access road for Ben Brenman Park just west of Holmes Run, a tributary of Cameron Run, then reduces to a four-lane undivided highway at Jordan Street. View east along SR 236 just east of I-395 in Alexandria SR 236 expands to a divided highway again at Quaker Lane and meets the northern end of Virginia State Route 241 (Telegraph Road) at a trumpet interchange; SR 241 provides access to I-95 and I-495 (Capital Beltway) and Eisenhower Avenue to the south. SR 236 passes south of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial and crosses over CSX's RF&P; Subdivision, which carries Amtrak and Virginia Railway Express service as well as freight service, and the Yellow and Blue lines of the Washington Metro. Callahan Drive, which intersects the state highway just west of the railroad crossing, provides access to Alexandria Union Station.
MD 170 was relocated at the railroad crossing when the highway's overpass of the Pennsylvania Railroad was completed in 1931. The old road, which is now Severn Station Road west of the tracks and Old Camp Meade Road to the east, became MD 483. With the outbreak of World War II, MD 170 was designated a road of strategic importance to connect Baltimore with Fort Meade; the highway was reconstructed as a wide asphalt-surfaced concrete road in 1942. By 1946, MD 170 and MD 554 had swapped numbers, with the latter now the route from Severn to Fort Meade. MD 554 was widened and resurfaced again in 1955 and 1956. The original segment of MD 174 was paved as a concrete road by 1921. This segment extended west from MD 3 in Glen Burnie southwest along Quarterfield Road to a spot just west of what became its partial cloverleaf interchange with the Glen Burnie Bypass (now I-97) in 1956. MD 174 was relocated for the construction of the interchange; part of the old road became MD 779.
Most of Spur 194 follows the original alignment of US 67 between Fort Stockton and Alpine along Old Alpine Road from 1932 until the current US 67 roadway was constructed to the west sometime after 1940 and before the creation of the spur. Spur 194 was designated on December 10, 1946 following a longer route that began at its present southern terminus at a former stockyard near a railroad crossing and extended further along the present US 385 terminating at what was then US 290 and now Business Interstate 10-G. In 1949, the stretch of the current US 385 south of US 290 was designated as Farm to Market Road 1214 (FM 1214) over a route that eventually was extended to Marathon. On October 24, 1956, FM 1214 was incorporated into a southern extension of State Highway 51 (SH 51) On August 28, 1958, SH 51 was cancelled and changed to US 385, and Spur 194 was truncated to avoid a dual designation over US 385 on December 10, 1959.
Besides sparse residences interrupted by occasional farmland, one notable site within the town is a local Bed & Breakfast that looks like a former school building.La Maison de Lucy Boutique Bed & Breakfast and Event Center Local cross streets formed in a grid join the road later on even as it crosses an at-grade railroad crossing with a railroad line once owned by the Atlanta and Saint Andrews Bay Railway. One block later the road encounters US 231, and turns north in a concurrency while Park Avenue turns into Park Road, which dead ends at a local cemetery, but not before providing a fork in the road that returns motorists back to the route. US 231/CR 276 becomes a divided highway at Little Valley Road. After curving away from the tracks across from Rowell Road, US 231 enters the community of Steele City, and CR 276 turns east onto Kynesville Road between a gas station and a local Baptist Church and accompanying cemetery, while US 231 heads north towards Cottondale, Campbellton, and through Alabama far north into northwestern Indiana.

For the communists, it was impossible to achieve numerical superiority after sending in two divisions following the withdraw of four divisions, and the Independent 1st Division of the communist 7th Column withdrawn earlier was forced to be back in action again. The highest point in the Siping (city) was a water tower, and the nationalists turned it into a formidable bunker manned by tough veterans of the Chinese Expeditionary Force in Burma and India during World War II, and these sharpshooters armed with light machine guns had successfully beaten back attacks by an entire enemy regiment for four times. After concentrating over a dozen machine guns suppressing the nationalist fire from the loopholes of the bunker to cover sappers setting up the explosives, the enemy finally neutralized the bunker in its fifth attempt. At the railroad crossing bridge, the defenders used an ingenious tactic by deploying beans: as three attacks by the communist 8th Regiment of the 1st Column were beaten back, the enemy launched their fourth attack personally led by the regimental political commissar Jin Ke (金可), and it appeared that the fourth attack might be successful.
In 2010, some remains of the tracks of the "Jurong Line" were dismantled by the KTM to replace the damaged rails in Bukit Timah railway station where a significant derailment accident occurred. The same year saw the Jurong station's destination signboard removed and lost and most of the remaining tracks were dismantled by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) between August to September 2011 after the Tanjong Pagar railway station closed on 1 July that year. Only the old bridges atop the Ulu Pandan River, above a road at Sunset Way, beside Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim, before and after the Shipyard Road railroad crossing and above a river at Tanjong Kling along with tunnel crossings through Clementi (between an estate at Sunset Way and Maju Camp), the Teban Flyover and a major roundabout under the Jurong Island Bridge still exist. Much of the land where the old railway line runs have either been taken over by new (mainly industrial) developments in the Jurong area or are simply left abandoned and awaiting future use, and many smaller bridges on which the line runs have also disappeared over the years since 2011.
The original route from the Central Valley to the Bay skirted the Delta by heading south out of Sacramento through Stockton and crossing the San Joaquin River at Mossdale, then climbed over the Altamont Pass and reached the east side of the San Francisco Bay through Niles Canyon. The Western Pacific was originally chartered to go to San Jose, but the Central Pacific decided to build along the East Bay instead, as going from San Jose up the Peninsula to San Francisco itself would have brought it into conflict with competing interests. The railroad entered Alameda and Oakland from the south, roughly paralleling what would later become U.S. Route 50 and later still Interstates 5, 205, and 580. A more direct route was obtained with the purchase of the California Pacific Railroad, crossing the Sacramento River and proceeding southwest through Davis to Benicia, where it crossed the Carquinez Strait by means of an enormous train ferry, then followed the shores of the San Pablo and San Francisco bays to Richmond and the Port of Oakland (paralleling U.S. Route 40 which ultimately became Interstate 80).
This line stretches along the western shore of Cayuga Lake from Cass Park to Taughannock Falls State Park and Trumansburg, New York, steadily rising from lake level to above sea level at the bridge across Taughannock Creek. South of Cass Park, the about of the planned route follows the Cayuga Flood Control Channel along Route 13a, and then crosses the flood control channel (via a yet to be built bridge) directly opposite Cecil Malone Drive at Cherry Street, providing access to the Cherry Street Industrial Park, the city's Southwest district, and eventually to the new housing development planned there. From there, it follows the DL&W; right of way built in 1849 as part of the Cayuga & Susquehanna railroad, crossing over the fish ladder and eventually goes underneath the Route 13 bridge near the Town/City of Ithaca line, and then proceeds parallel to its south side, terminating in Robert H. Treman State Park. This urban section of the trail is estimated to cost $5 million, mostly for the construction of three new bridges: the bridge connecting to Cecil Malone Drive, one near the fish ladder, and a third bridge crossing over the Cayuga Inlet near the trail branch connecting to Buttermilk Falls.
In Douglas City SRs 12/65 serves as the address for the Gadsden Correctional Facility, and then an at-grade crossing with the CSX Tallahassee Subdivision a line that carried the Amtrak Sunset Limited until it was truncated to New Orleans, Louisiana by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Right after this crossing SRs 12/65 has an intersection with U.S. Route 90, and joins that route in another concurrency. The Tallahassee Subdivision begins to move away from US 90/SRs 12/65, but almost comes back just before the intersection with CR 274 before entering Quincy where the concurrency becomes West Jefferson Street. Within the city the road encounters an at-grade railroad crossing with a spur of the Tallahassee Subdivision. This spur runs next to the beginning of the concurrency with SR 267 and CR 268 once again. The concurrency with SR 267 may have been in the process of being eliminated though, as a four-lane stub extends a block north of US 90. US 90/SRs 12/65/267/CR 268 enter the Quincy Historic District at Stewart Street. Four blocks later at Adams Street, SR 267 leave US 90 to the north, and CR 268 turns in the opposite direction.
