The first Street Child World Cup was held in Durban, South Africa, in March 2010 The event brought together teams of street children and former street children from Brazil, South Africa, Nicaragua, Ukraine, India, the Philippines and Tanzania. The participants were between 14 and 16 years old at the time of the event and all had experience of living full-time on the streets without family. Each squad of 9 players included 3 girls. A representative team of young people from Manchester, UK, also took part in the tournament.

On March 27, 2014, a 10-day tournament and conference will kick off in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. David Beckham: “I look forward to Brazil in 2014 when street children from around the world will play football and represent the millions of children who still live or work on our streets.“ At least 16 countries will take part represented by street child organisations committed to the rights of street children. This list so far includes Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, USA, Ukraine, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Burundi, South Africa, Sierre Leone, Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt and Mauritius.

Dian HP playing an art song based on a poem by Sitok Srengenge On 14 February 2011, Dian produced Delapan Komposisi Cinta (Eight Compositions of Love), a concert for Ubiet Raseuki. The concert, with lyrics taken directly from the work of Sitok Srengenge and Nirwan Dewanto, received a second performance in June. In between the concerts, she wrote a rock musical based on the 1977 film Ali Topan Anak Jalanan (Ali Topan the Street Child). The musical featured original compositions by herself (her first rock compositions) and previously produced work by Guruh Soekarnoputra and Chrisye.

In 2014, she again collaborated with S.P.Y on the tracks "Dusty Fingers" and "Back To Basics" for the album Back To Basics Chapter One and then later on "Lost Orbit" and "Frozen" for the album Back To Basics Chapter Two. These children are then reunited with their families who receive financial as well as managerial support from the charity so that they can set up small businesses and receive a steady income in order to be able to enrol, and keep, their child in school. The main character of the series is Hijitus, a street child who lives in the sewers of the city of Trulalá.

Khalida Popal (born in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1987) is an Afghan football player and director. Popal is the founder and director of Girl Power Organization, the Program and Event Director of the Afghanistan Women's National Football Team, Ambassador to Street Child World Cup, and the Event Manager & Mentor/ Refugee Consultant in COLUMN. She is also the former leader of the Afghanistan women's Football Committee, former Finance Officer of the Afghanistan Football Federation, former captain of the Afghanistan Women's National Football Team, and former football coach of the under-17 and under-15 women's football teams in Afghanistan.

Kathleen 'Kathy' Mallory is a fictional character featured in eleven mystery novels by author Carol O'Connell. Chrisye and Erwin Gutawa, a conductor who had coordinated Chrisye's first solo concert in 1994, began working on what was to become AkustiChrisye in 1995. Realising that Western artists such as Frank Sinatra had found success in rearranging their older songs, the two decided to do the same with Chrisye's older work. They chose the songs "Kala Sang Surya Tenggelam" ("When the Sun Set"), "Anak Jalanan" ("Street Child"), and "Smaradhana" ("Passion") from the 1978 album Sabda Alam, as well as "Gita Cinta – Puspa Indah" ("Love Song – Beautiful Flower"), a remix of two songs from the 1980 album Puspa Indah. A street child in Bangladesh No recent statistics of street children in Bangladesh is available. UNICEF puts the number above 670,000 referring to a study conducted by Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies, "Estimation of the Size of Street Children and their Projection for Major Urban Areas of Bangladesh, 2005". About 36% of these children are in the capital city Dhaka according to the same study. Though Bangladesh improved the Human Capital Index over the decades, (HDI is 0.558 according to 2014 HDR of UNDP and Bangladesh at 142 among 187 countries and territories), these children still represent the absolute lowest level in the social hierarchy.

Homeless youth are often called street kids or street child; the definition of street children is contested, but many practitioners and policymakers use UNICEF's concept of boys and girls, aged under 18 years, for whom "the street" (including unoccupied dwellings and wasteland) has become home and/or their source of livelihood, and who are inadequately protected or supervised. Some street children, notably in more developed nations, are part of a subcategory called thrown-away children, consisting of children who have been forced to leave home.

In 2017, Sarah was joined by her daughter Eugenie to mark the second anniversary of the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. From research, however, different categories of children on the streets have been distinguished, while still recognizing that children's complex experiences are difficult to define. Mark W. Lusk, a prominent researcher of street children, developed four categories of children on the street from his research: children who work on the street but return to their families at night, children who work on the street but whose family ties are dwindling, children who live and work with their families on the street, and children who work and live on their own on the street.

Based on the definition by the Inter-NGO Programme on Street Children and Street Youth, 1983, a street child refers to "any boy or girl…for whom the street in the widest sense of the word…has become his or her habitual abode and/or source of livelihood, and who is inadequately protected, supervised, or directed by responsible adults". One recent U.S. State Department study reported an estimated 20,000 children on the streets of Thailand's major urban centres. These children are not restricted to only the Thai nationals; a significant portion of them are Khmer, Burmese, Laos and Vietnamese.

Article 25’s projects range from one-off building projects for community-based organisations to large master planning projects for international organisations, including technical consultancy services for NGOs who have little access to vital design expertise. It has consulted with government organisations, NGOs and relief organisations on reconstruction projects including latrine blocks and schools in Haiti, earthquake resistant homes in Pakistan, and a new media centre in Port Harcourt. Some of the completed projects include an award-winning earthquake resistant housing programme in Northern Pakistan with Muslim Aid which received the 2009 Asia-Pacific Urban Land Award, and an award-nominated school for street children in Goa, India, with El Shaddai Street Child Rescue. The charity has tended to over 50 projects in 20 countries across five continents.

Prior to 1997, the "Official Vocabulary" of post-independence India did not contain the term "street child", and street children were only helped because they were grouped with other children that worked on the streets. For instance, the Coordination Committee for Vulnerable Children worked to give identity cards to children working on the streets in order to help protect them from police violence. In the early 1990s, facing pressure from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the Indian government created the "Scheme for Assistance to Street Children," which launched in February 1993. Though many NGOs had meetings with the government to give feedback about the scheme and suggestions to improve it, none of these recommendations were included in the final draft, making it very difficult for NGOs to participate in it.

The Streetkids United 3 - The Road to Moscow is selected for the Category Best Cinematography of the Kalakari Film Festival in India. Prajesh Sen worked as a Co. Director in R. Madhavan's movie Rocketry: The Nambi Effect which is based on the prominent scientist Nambi Narayanan’s life, in which R. Madhavan himself plays the title role.

Elán DeFan (born 1 March 1983) is a Mexican recording artist, known for being one of the first Latin American female songwriters to begin her career with an English language album written completely on her own and the first independent artist from Latin America to have sold more than 1.7 million copies of her music with her band which is also named ELAN, made up of Elán, lead vocalist and keyboard player, Jan Carlo DeFan, lead guitarist, co-producer and Elán's brother and younger cousin and drummer Michel "Cheech" Bitar DeFan and Mauricio "The Duck" Lopez. Elán reveals an assortment of music that has been influenced by many artists like Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, John Lennon, Melissa Etheridge, and a few other notable influences. Elán had a notable success with albums like Street Child and London Express. she has released six albums - five in English and one in Spanish.

One of the numerous alternate screenplays for Freddy vs Jason written by later Hellboy movie co-writer Peter Briggs in 1995 would have seen Alice teaming up with Friday the 13th protagonists Steven Freeman and Jessica Kimble from Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday in 1999, leading to their respective children Jacob and Stephanie being kidnapped by Jason Voorhees, whose mind Alice enters to discover that he was an Elm Street child and that his mother Pamela was one of the vigilante parents who burned the human Fred Krueger to death. She would also have dropped a hydraulically raised Pontiac car over the pursuing Jason in a garage. Freddy would have chased Alice and Jessica Kimble through Hell, only to be distracted by Thanos, Lord of the Underworld, allowing Alice and Jessica to escape with Jacob and Stephanie and survive. Briggs called Alice "obviously an extremely useful character on multiple levels" to his storytelling.

Kristen mentions having, or having had, a brother in the script and Freddy ends up killing her mother in a scene reminiscent of the pool party scene in Freddy's Revenge. Furthermore, Kristen would be the last surviving patient and Elm Street child, as both Joey and Kincaid would have perished by the end of the story, and the model of the 1428 Elm Street house that Kristen made in the film's opening would have been made by Joey instead, with the same outcome in regards to the end scene of the film. Both the original draft and the script for the theatrical film had an omitted end scene where Kristen and Dr. Neil Gordon talks about Nancy, implying that she now visits and protects them in their dreams, opposite of what Freddy had done and thus hinting that she is now undead in the dream world like him. Gavroche, in Victor Hugo's Les Misérables, Fagin's crew of child pickpockets in Oliver Twist, a similar group of child thieves in Funke's The Thief Lord, and Sherlock Holmes' "Baker Street Irregulars" are other notable examples of the presence of street children in popular works of literature.
