In the movie Det gamle guld (The old gold), Malberg and Poul Reichhardt combined to sing popular Danish songs like "Jeg har min hest, jeg har min lasso" (I have my horse, I have my lasso) and "Du er min øjesten" (You are the apple of my eye). In 1925 Peter married the actress Ellen Nimb-Olsen who was 16 years younger. Malberg was awarded the French Academy's Mark of Honor and the Portuguese Red Cross' Cross of Honor.
Hest Bank station itself was of rugged stone construction, a two-storey station house with a booking hall below on the up (southbound) platform. It was next to a level crossing over a minor road linking the A589 with houses, a water treatment works and a caravan park further along the foreshore. A small cottage for the crossing keeper was provided on the down (coastal-facing) side along with a footbridge to connect the platforms. The down side also had two sidings, one providing a bay platform.
Mae describes the EP as being "...completely how [she] heard it in [her] head" and wrote the songs "...with other instruments in mind," parting from the stripped back style of her debut album. Mae shared "Diamond" on soundcloud for International Women's Day on March 8, 2016. It was featured on WXPN that day and has been in rotation since. Mae toured in support of Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Bobby Long, Ari Hest, and Jay Brannan in 2016 and has emerged at the forefront of the Philadelphia music scene.

Grange-over-Sands railway station, which serves the town, was opened by the Ulverston and Lancaster Railway on 1 September 1857 and is now served by the Furness Line, giving connections to and to the west, and , , Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport to the east. The main road access is the A590, which runs between the M6 and Barrow- in-Furness. Before the building of the railway, the main way of reaching Grange was the road across the Sands of Morecambe Bay from Hest Bank.Article with references in old books www.grangeoversandshistory.weebly.
He later started auctioning plants, trees and shrubs from the back of his truck in empty lots around British Columbia and Alberta in the early 1950s. He opened the first Art Knapp's Garden Spot on Kingsway in Vancouver and later sold the first franchise of the store to Bill Vander Zalm in 1953. The business continued to expand as more franchises were sold to others, including Frank Van Hest, who owned and operated the location in Richmond, British Columbia from the early 1970s. Today there are 15 Art Knapp Stores located throughout British Columbia.
Morecambe railway station platform in 2009 In May 1987, services from Leeds were diverted to run via Lancaster (with a reversal) rather than directly via Hest Bank, and the Heysham branch was reopened to passengers in connection with the daily sailing to the Isle of Man. Promenade was replaced by a smaller station closer to the town centre in May 1994 and the Heysham line singled under the control of the signal box at Bare Lane. Following signalling renewal work in late 2012, the entire line is now supervised from the PSB at Preston.
Larsen frequently voiced his opposition to established society and instead advocated the right to be different from the mainstream. The album and movie Midt om natten revolves around this subject – in fact you can compare the movie action to the real Danish BZ movement BZ, Sorte Hest and also Freetown Christiania, located in Copenhagen. The same opposition is also shown by the album 231045-0637 – the title is Kim Larsen's personal identification number which is strictly personal. Larsen was against the big database of every citizen, implied by this title.
Her song "Simple Love" was recorded by Alison Krauss on the album A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection (Rounder, 2007) and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Siskind's songs have been recorded by Jeff Austin, Brendan Benson, Madi Diaz, Gabe Dixon, Ari Hest, Wynonna Judd, Claire Lynch, Della Mae, Angaleena Presley, Maia Sharp, Randy Travis, Curtis Wright, and the Infamous Stringdusters. On April 17, 2020, Siskind will release their album Modern Appalachia.
From the late 1920s, Schou received various commissions for work, though at times she faced discrimination from officials who felt that as a woman she was not up for monumental works, or because of her societal status felt she did not need the work. She exhibited at the Salon in Paris from 1929 to 1934. She also participated annually in the Spring Exhibition through the 1950s. Though most known for her equine statues, Schou was equally interested in and produced statues of people. Many of these portraits, of subjects such as artist Agnes Lunn (1933), ballet master Hans Beck (da) (1937), and actor Holger Gabrielsen (1939), are in bronze or marble and are in either bust or relief. Some of her noted pieces include: Hest overfaldes af Slange (Horse Attacked by Snake, 1935) in Randers; Styrtende Amazone (Stirring Amazone, (1938) in the collection of the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo; Morgengry (1939) for the people's park at Lyngby Lake; Hest med føl (Horse with foal, 1940) installed and later moved in 1980 to Øregård Park (da) in Hellerup; a bust of her husband Holger Høiriis Schou (1941); and Moder med Barn (Mother with Child, 1943) at the park of Bellevue Beach.
Most of her time is consumed by her passion for dragons and her studies thereof. She is unsure of the attention she is getting from a handsome local Trader, Hest Finbok. When finally confronting him, he admits that he is not in love with her, but is wishing for a marriage of convenience for both of them. If she can provide him with an heir, he will fund her fancies, including her research of dragons, including a trip to study the hatchling dragons since he had caused her to miss a trip she had already planned to watch them hatch.
After the shame of this event, she accuses him of being unfaithful to her, in the hopes of ending their marriage contract, and provides proof in certain things she has noted, such as his luxurious perfumes and a second house that he rents. Hest is furious and demands that Sedric, his secretary and constant companion, confirm his fidelity. Sedric confirms, though it is later revealed to be a lie, as Sedric is, in fact, Hest's lover. Four years have passed since the hatching and Sintara is sad and tormented by the dragon memories that she is filled with.
Heath Charnock has been variously recorded as Charnock in 1271; Cernok, Heath Charnock, Hest Chernnoke, Est Chernoke in 1278, Chernocke Gogard in 1284, Hechernok, Heghchernok, Hethevchernoc, Hethchernok, Gogardeschernok and Hethchernock in 1292. In the Middle Ages Heath Charnock was part of the Penwortham fee held by Randle de Marsey and then by the Ferrers. By 1288 there were two subordinate manors, one held by Thomas Banastre and one by William Gogard. The Banastre manor was acquired by John de Harrington and then the first Lord Mounteagle whose family held it until 1574 when it was sold to Thomas Walmsley and Robert Charnock.
David Anthony Eden, Sr., and David Anthony Eden, Jr., a father- and-son from England, had unlawfully hired a group of Chinese workers to pick cockles; they were to be paid £5 per 25 kg of cockles, (9p per lb), far less than the typical local rate at the time. The Chinese had been trafficked via containers into Liverpool, and were hired out through local criminal agents of international Chinese Triads. The cockles to be collected are best found at low tide on sand flats at Warton Sands, near Hest Bank. The Chinese workers were unfamiliar with local geography, language, and custom.

Hest One is a Paris-born graffiti artist who has also lived in Montreal, Jakarta, Indonesia and Saint-Louis, Réunion. Having made his name in the underground of Paris's 1980s and 1990s graffiti scene, he moved to Montreal at the turn of the century and, as part of NME crew in Montreal, he has left his mark as one of the most respected graff artists in the city. As an original member of Nomadic Massive, his art has blessed the covers of every Nomadic Massive albums and logos as well as some of their early show flyers.
He had his debut at the Charlottenborg exhibition in 1875 with Et Bondehus (A Farm House) and painted street life pictures in the years from 1876-1878. In 1879, he painted 3 Piger (Three girls) which along with two other pictures was bought by Kunstforeningen. He preferred painting rural scenes and soon discovered his increasing interest in depicting animals. He also became a capable landscape painter, having a particular skill for representing men and animals and the space surrounding them as can be seen in En ung Pige, som giver en Hest Brød (A Young Girl Giving a Horse Bread), a work dating from 1880.
The cascaded arc source, developed at the Eindhoven University of Technology, G.M.W. Kroesen, D.C. Schram, and J.C.M. de Haas, Plasma Chemistry and Plasma Processing, 10(4):531–551, 1990. M.C.M. van de Sanden, G.J.H. Brussaard, W.M.M. Kessels, A. de Graaf, M.F.A.M. van Hest, K.G.Y. Letourneur and D.C. Schram is shown in the figure below. Compared to plasma sources in other linear plasma generators, this source can produce high- density argon and hydrogen plasmas (respectively 1021 – 1024 and 1019 – 1022 m−3) at a relatively low electron temperature (~1 eV). Due to the high collision frequency of the particles in the source, the plasma is in thermal equilibrium and reasonably homogeneous.
This tendency continued after World War I and the 1923 Grouping, when both lines into the resort came under the ownership of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway. Under LMS control, the station was officially named "Morecambe Promenade" from 2 June 1924 and also began to handle some services travelling to the town over the ex-LNWR branch line from Hest Bank once again, notably the daily Northern Irish boat train from London Euston to Heysham (inaugurated in 1928Binns, D (1982) The 'Little' North Western Railway, Wyvern Publishing, Skipton. , p.41) and various long-distance summer excursions from stations such as Manchester Victoria, , and .
The plurals match West Frisian (skip-skippen), as do the diminutives (popke, autootsje, rinkje), except those in Stavers (poppy, autootsy, rinkje), where Hollands rules are followed. The verbs are missing two West Frisian weak classes, but do use West Frisian rules for forming past participles: they never get the affix ge- (ik hew maakt; hest dou dat sien?). Stadsfrisian kept the West Frisian pronouns do, jo and jimme (informal you, formal you, plural you), although do and jo are almost always written as dou and jou. These words can in fact be used as criteria for deciding whether a Hollandic-West Frisian mixed dialect can still be considered Stadsfries.
The training courses focus on life saving surgical procedures that are crucial in austere environments, with doctors given the opportunity to practice on real bodies, supported by other resources, including videos and anatomical models. The courses are run with the Royal College of Surgeons for five days every six months and are fully funded by the foundation through a scholarship scheme for surgeons working in hostile conditions. These courses are also delivered on the front line, where doctors are unable to leave their posts, and have already been held in Yemen, Libya and Iraq, among others. The front line Hostile Environment Surgical Training courses (HEST) last for four days.
This layout dates from the closure of the former terminus at and its associated signal box in February 1994, with Bare Lane signal box taking over control of all signalling on the line thereafter (other than that controlling the junctions with the main line at Hest Bank). As mentioned above however, it was closed in December 2012. The structure remained intact for another year and had been used for several months by Northern staff as a manned help point for travellers due to the absence of digital passenger information screens at the station. It was eventually demolished in January 2014 after the PIS screens were installed and finally brought into use.
He was a Trustee of Bradford Royal Infirmary (he gave £5,000 to its building fund), of the Bradford Tradesmen’s Home (a complex of almshouses in Manningham), and of other local benevolent institutions.Yorkshire Post, 26 March 1932; Bradford Daily Telegraph, 10 November 1909. He subscribed the funds enabling the Cinderella Club to provide day-excursions for poor widows and entertainments for large numbers of disadvantaged children and, together with his wife, took a particular interest in the children’s holiday home established by the Club at Hest Bank, Morecambe, which he opened in 1905.Bradford Weekly Telegraph, 2 March 1901; Bradford Daily Telegraph, 22 October 1904, 31 July 1905.
The Neck as a brook horse by Theodor Kittelsen, a depiction of the Neck as a white horse Gutt på hvit hest (Boy on white horse) by the same Kittelsen The Rhinemaidens by Arthur Rackham In Faroese, the word nykur refers specifically to a supernatural horse, described in one Faroese text thus: The equivalent term in Continential Scandinavian languages is bäckahäst or bækhest ('brook horse'). It has a close parallel in the Scottish kelpie, and the Welsh Ceffyl Dŵr. The bäckahäst was often described as a majestic white horse that would appear near rivers, particularly during foggy weather. Anyone who climbed onto its back would not be able to get off again.
Jewitt married Edith Maria Pike in Lancaster Priory in 1878. Their children included Austin Jewitt, who worked for Shrigley and Hunt on design projects from 1900 to 1902; Edward's nephew, the sculptor Clement William Jewitt, also executed one commission for the firm. Edward Jewitt at first lived in Lancaster, before moving first to Morecambe and then to the coastal village of Hest Bank, five miles north of Lancaster, from where he used to walk to work every day, much to the annoyance of his employer who would have preferred him to spend more of the day at his desk. He was still working for the firm at the time of his death, in 1929.
LINES OCCASIONED BY THE DEATH OF THE LATE JOHN STEPHENS, ESQ. :The master-mind that so long shed :A lustre on our varied page :Has from the mental warfare fled, :And closed his earthly pilgrimage. :But his was no inglorious flight – :It was the behest of his Lord, [pronounced BE-hest] :He battled to the last for right, :And now enjoys his great reward. :Fresh tears may from affliction's eye :Grateful, upon his grave, descend; :And virtue o'er his tomb may sigh, :Who was, through life, their firmest friend :For none like him could plead so well :The miseries of the distressed: :And none like him e'er sought to tell :Abroad the wrongs of the oppressed.
The Royal Life Guards () is a mechanized infantry regiment of the Danish Army, founded in 1658 by King Frederik III. The primary task is to provide a number of soldiers from the Guard Company to serve as a guard/ceremonial unit to the Danish monarchy, while training the Royal Guards for various functions in the mobilisation force. Until its disbandment, the Royal Horse Guards (Livgarden til Hest), served the role as the mounted guard/ceremonial unit, afterwards the role was taken over by Guard Hussar Regiment Mounted Squadron. During the time period 1684-1867, the Royal Life Guards were called The Royal Foot Guard (Den Kongelige Livgarde til Fods), in order to distinguish between the regiment and the Royal Horse Guards.
Rampside Gas Terminal Morecambe Bay at low tide from Hest Bank, looking towards Grange-over-Sands The bay has Britain's second- largest natural gas field, in the Triassic Sherwood Sandstone with a seal of Mercia Mudstone and a Carboniferous source. The South Morecambe Field, covering an area of , was discovered in 1974 and the first gas came ashore in 1985. The North Morecambe Field, found in 1976, to the north, is and started production in 1994. Both are operated by Centrica Energy. They are west of Blackpool in 30 metres of water; the top of the gas reservoir is at a depth of just , necessitating slant drilling for the first time in European waters. The combined gas reserves on discovery were estimated at 179 billion cubic metres (6.45 trillion cubic feet (tcf)).
The site remains notable as being the point at which the present-day West Coast Main Line (WCML) comes nearest to the west coast. Views of Morecambe Bay can be glimpsed from trains on this section of the line. Meanwhile, the "little" North Western Railway had been formed to link Skipton to Lancaster and with the Morecambe Harbour and Railway planned to make a junction with the L&CR; at Hest Bank. Regrettably this never materialised. Hoping to develop an export trade in coke and other minerals, the L&CR; applied on its own account to build the branch to Morecambe, receiving permission in 1859. At this point the line was leased by the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) and it was the latter that built the branch as a double track opening in 1864.

The Leeds trains were to be re-routed via Carnforth and Hest Bank, and the existing DMU local service to Lancaster via Bare Lane would see an increase in frequency to compensate. The following year BR proposed to build a new south-to-east curve at Torrisholme that would allow direct running from Bare Lane towards Heysham without the need for reversal at Promenade, which would have been closed, and Euston Road would have re-opened as the terminus for the branch services from Lancaster and Leeds. However, local opposition to the new curve (which required the demolition of property along its route) saw the scheme dropped and the original plans proceeded with. Passenger services on the ex-Midland line through Green Ayre were duly withdrawn on and from 3 January 1966, along with most local trains to and from Heysham (though the boat trains from Manchester and London continued) and the overhead wires switched off.
Released as Enoch Light and the Light Brigade, the arrangements used on the recordings were transcribed note-for-note from some of what were the hallmark recordings by many of the best bands of the swing era. The arranging reconstructions of these now "classic" arrangements were completely reconstructed by arrangers Dick Lieb, Dick Hyman, Tony Mottola and Jeff Hest. Many of the musicians employed for this series of "recreations" had been members of the original bands that made the original records decades earlier. This veritable "Who's Who" of "swing era" veteran musicians included saxophonists Phil Bodner, Walt Levinsky, (both also heavily featured on clarinet), Ray Beckenstein, Gerald Sanfino, Al Klink, Boomie Richman, Romeo Penque, and Sol Schlinger; trumpeters Mel Davis, Rusty Dedrick, Johnny Frosk, Bernie Glow, Joe Graves, Markie Markowicz, Bob McCoy, and Marvin Stamm; trombonists Wayne Andre, Paul Fralise, Urbie Green, Lou McGarity, Buddy Morrow, and Santo Russo; guitarist Tony Mottola, bassists Bob Haggart and George Duvivier, drummers Don Lamond, Bob Rosengarden and Ronnie Zito, pianists Dick Hyman and Derek Smith and vibraharpist Phil Kraus.
The route is a fusion of lines opened by the London and North Western Railway (LNWR), the "little" North Western Railway (NWR) and the Midland Railway, which built the branch to Heysham Harbour and Morecambe Promenade terminus after it took over the NWR in 1874. The first proposals for a branch from Morecambe to the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway (L&C;) at Hest Bank were put forward by the Morecambe Harbour and Railway Company (a constituent company of the NWR) in 1846 but these were soon dropped on cost grounds. The L&C; revived the scheme in 1858, with the intention of using the NWR's harbour facilities (suitably expanded) to export coke & iron ore from the North East, brought in via the South Durham & Lancashire Union Railway and the L&C; main line. The NWR opposed the plans as it would lose its monopoly on traffic into the town, but its shaky finances eventually led it to reach an agreement with the L&C; that would allow the latter to build its line but not require the associated harbour improvements to be carried out.
