She first became involved with track and field at age six, competing with her two sisters - Danielle and Breanne. By the time she entered high school, Borman had tried nearly every track and field event. At Festus High School, she competed in shot put, discus, long jump, 100 m hurdles, triple jump and high jump.

The Bailey–Johnson 150-metre race was a track and field event that occurred in Toronto, Ontario on Sunday, 1 June 1997. In an effort to settle the dispute regarding who was the world's fastest man, a race not sanctioned by IAAF was held at SkyDome between 1996 Olympic 100 metre champion Donovan Bailey from Canada, and 1996 Olympic 200 metre and 400 metre champion Michael Johnson, from the United States.
The BMW Ladies Championship is a women's professional golf tournament in Busan, South Korea, co-sanctioned by the LPGA of Korea Tour and the LPGA Tour. It debuted in 2019. It replaced the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship as the LPGA Tour's Korean stop on its Asian swing. It is a 72-hole event with a limited field of 84 players, approximately half of a full-field event.

Dharam Singh Uppal (born 21 July 1959) is a former Indian international track and field athlete and presently a Superintendent of Police in Punjab. He was in the field event of men's 800 m and 1500 m race and won several medals for the country as well as state. He represented India in Asian games and SAF games. Due to a major accident, he could not carry on with his sports and joined Punjab Police.
The previous UK record of 1.95m had first been set by Diana Davies (then Elliott) in 1982. It was then equalled in 2001 by Susan Moncrieff and again in 2007 by Olympic Heptathlon Champion Jessica Ennis, before Pooley finally surpassed it. The record was one of the longest standing UK outdoor field event records, with only the women's discus record and the men 800m record which have both stood since 1981, being older.

Morton Armour Kaer (September 7, 1903 – January 11, 1992), nicknamed "Devil May," was a world-famous athlete, as a track star and All-American collegiate and professional American football player. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska and died in Mount Shasta, California. At the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, he placed fifth in the Olympic pentathlon competition. The pentathlon, a track and field event comprising five events: the 200 metres, 1500 metres, discus, javelin, and long jump.

Veidekkelekene is an annual track and field tournament held at Stampesletta. In 2010 it had 1,150 participants and is organized by Lillehammer IF, Gausdal FIK and Moelven IL. The tournament is the second-largest track and field event in Norway, after Tyrvinglekene.

International University Sports Federation - Gwangju 2015 - Men's Triple Jump Final, Dmitrii Sorokin (RUS 17.29) wins gold. The triple jump, sometimes referred to as the hop, step and jump or the hop, skip and jump, is a track and field event, similar to the long jump. As a group, the two events are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". The competitor runs down the track and performs a hop, a bound and then a jump into the sand pit.
She remains the only British athlete to have won a European gold medal in both a track and a field event. In the 1954 Commonwealth Games in Vancouver, Canada, Desforges won a bronze medal in both the long jump and 80 m hurdles. Desforges was an eight-time AAA Championships winner, having won the 80 m hurdles four time (1949, 1952, 1953 and 1954), the long jump twice (1953 and 1954), and the pentathlon twice (1953 and 1954).

Ballintine was responsible for organizing the first collegiate track and field event for women (1895) and also established field hockey not only at Vassar but made it an acceptable sport for women at several institutions in the Northeast.

Columbia Coliseum, also known as Columbia Gymnasium, was a gymnasium on the campus of Columbia University (now the University of Portland) in Portland, Oregon. It was designed in 1902 by Joseph Jacobberger to house sports that were traditionally played outdoors, like baseball and football. Constructed the following year it was the largest gymnasium in Oregon, and possibly the Pacific Northwest. Starting in 1905, Columbia Coliseum became the site of an annual statewide track and field event hosted by the university.

Until 2013, it was a 54-hole event with a limited field of 78 players, approximately half of a full-field event. There was no cut; all players played all three rounds. However, the LPGA Tour imposed a points cut to the top 40 players (and ties) for purposes of championship points towards the CME Globe.
The United States was the first country to win gold, silver, and bronze in the women's 100 hurdles in one Olympics in 2016; this was also the first time American women achieved such a sweep in any Olympic track and field event. Men traversing the water jump in a steeplechase competition Outside of the hurdles events, the steeplechase race is the other track and field event with obstacles. Just as the hurdling events, the steeplechase finds its origin in student competition in Oxford, England. However, this event was born as a human variation on the original steeplechase competition found in horse racing. A steeplechase event was held on a track for the 1879 English championships and the 1900 Summer Olympics featured men's 2500 m and 4000 m steeplechase races.

In 1972 Fuchs was the strong favorite heading in the Olympics. Kate Schmidt took the early lead on the first throw, but this was soon passed by the favorite on the second throw.
The Drake Relays (officially the Drake Relays presented by Xtream powered by Mediacom) is an outdoor track and field event held in Des Moines, Iowa, in Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University. Billed as America's Athletic Classic, it is regarded as one of the top track and field events in the United States. In 2020, the Drake Relays was named a Silver Level event on the World Athletics Continental Tour, one of only two competitions in the United States to earn Silver Level status.
In sports under the athletics banner, certain competitions require an athlete to meet a qualifying standard, meaning a mark as good or better than this set mark, in order to be eligible to compete. Naturally, an elite level competition does not want to embarrass its reputation nor the competitor in an event beyond their competition level. With a limited number of lanes on the track (or field event facilities) they must limit the number of competitors participating in a given amount of time at a meet.
Yego was the first Kenyan athlete to win a Commonwealth title in a field event. He won a second gold later that summer at the African Championships, throwing a season best 84.72 m and defeating world leader Ihab Abdelrahman El-Sayed of Egypt. The high jump is a track and field event in which competitors must jump unaided over a horizontal bar placed at measured heights without dislodging it. In its modern most practiced format, a bar is placed between two standards with a crash mat for landing. In the modern era, athletes run towards the bar and use the Fosbury Flop method of jumping, leaping head first with their back to the bar. Since ancient times, competitors have introduced increasingly effective techniques to arrive at the current form.
From 2009 to present, the earnings are not counted towards the Asian Tour Order of Merit. Another limited-field event in Malaysia, the CIMB Classic, was launched in 2010 with a $6 million purse. The first Asian Tour event to be co- sanctioned by the US-based PGA Tour began as an unofficial event on that tour, but it started to offer official money and FedEx Cup points in 2013. In 2016, the tour's richest sole-sanctioned event was the Venetian Macao Open, with a prize fund of $1.1 million.

Racewalking is an Olympic athletics (track and field) event with distances of 20 kilometres for both men and women and 50 kilometres for men only. Racewalking first appeared in the modern Olympics in 1904 as a half-mile walk in the 'all-rounder,' the precursor to the 10-event decathlon. In 1908, stand-alone 1,500m and 3,000m racewalks were added, and—excluding 1924—there has been at least one racewalk (for men) in every Olympics since. The women's racewalk became an Olympic event only in 1992, following years of active lobbying by female internationals.
Women's Long Jump Final – 28th Summer Universiade 2015 The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a take off point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". This event has a history in the Ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympic event for men since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948.
The 2019 IAAF Combined Events Challenge was the 22nd edition of the global series of combined track and field event meetings organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). It featured decathlon for men and heptathlon for women. A total of eleven meetings were in the 2019 series, starting at the Multistars meet on 27 April and finishing at the 2019 World Athletics Championships on 4 October. Athletes scored points based on their performances at meetings in the series, with the overall winners being the athletes with the highest aggregate score over three meetings.
The Olympic marathon was run on 10 April (or 29 March by the Julian calendar then in use in Greece). The Greek public had been very enthusiastic about the Games, but were disappointed in the fact that no track and field event had yet been won by a Greek competitor. The victory in the discus throw, a classical Greek event, by the American Robert Garrett had been particularly painful. Because of its close connection with Greek history, the public yearned for the marathon to be won by one of their countrymen.
Tom Poor was the first to win the high jump event in Kansas Relays, with a jump of six feet and a quarter inch. He later went on to place fourth in the 1924 Olympics. Ed Weir set a world record for the 120 meter high hurdles at the Kansas Relays in 1926. With world-class athletes competing in the relays, the first decade of the relays paved the way for the Kansas Relays to be a major event in the track and field event in the Mid-West.
The European Athletics Indoor Cup was a biennial (formerly annual) athletics sporting event that first took place in 2003 in Leipzig, Germany, where it was also organized the following year. The 3rd edition was held in 2006, in order to be held every two years to alternate with the European Indoor Championships in Athletics, but had its final edition in 2008. The event was organized by the European Athletic Association (EAA). The purpose of the competition was to provide an international team competition at an indoor track and field event.
Following the Montreal 1976 Summer Olympics and in honor of the United States Bicentennial, Franklin Field hosted The Bicentennial Meet of Champions track and field event on August 4, 1976. Montreal Olympians at the meet included Hasely Crawford, Don Quarrie, Michael Shine and Edwin Moses. The meet was also a chance for top runners including Houston McTear who had not been able to compete in Montreal to race against medal winners. 13,722 attended the event and saw Dwight Stones set a record for the high-jump and John Walker win the mile.
Additionally, Eddie Bauer and Cosco, Inc., joined to build upon Eddie Bauer's "Baby by Eddie Bauer" collection of Eddie Bauer Home merchandise for infants. In 1999, Safeco Field, the new home of the Seattle Mariners, signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with Eddie Bauer, establishing Eddie Bauer as the official apparel sponsor of Safeco Field event staff through the 2000 season. Also in 1999, Eddie Bauer presented American Forests with a check for $2.5 million, representing the 2.5 million trees planted nationally through Eddie Bauer's "Add a Dollar, Plant a Tree" retail program.
The discus throw (), also known as disc throw, is a track and field event in which an athlete throws a heavy disc—called a discus—in an attempt to mark a farther distance than their competitors. It is an ancient sport, as demonstrated by the fifth-century-BC Myron statue Discobolus. Although not part of the modern pentathlon, it was one of the events of the ancient Greek pentathlon, which can be dated back to at least to 708 BC, and it is part of the modern decathlon.

It is typically located in the section of the stadium holding the luxury box and can be either enclosed or open to the elements. In general, newspaper writers sit in this box and write about the on-field event as it unfolds. Television and radio announcers broadcast from the press box as well.
Memorial Stadium also hosted the Kansas Relays track and field event every year from 1923 through 2013, except in 1943, 1944 and 1945 due to World War II and 1998 and 1999 due to construction. The Relays annually see top area high school and intercollegiate competitors, and the open events often draw Olympic runners such as Maurice Greene and Marion Jones. The Kansas Relays is the location where world-record holder Justin Gatlin tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2006. Gatlin served a four-year suspension, but has since returned to track prominence.
At the beginning of the 1950s the club was brought back to life and in 1961 its new sport center was built. The club's football stadium, modern by pre-war standards, is now in ruin. Among Warszawianka's most famous sportspeople, one can single out: Aleksander Szenajch (athletics) - 1924 Olympics in Paris, Janusz Kusociński (athletics) - 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles (a track and field event is held annually in his honor), Janusz Kalbarczyk (speedskating) - 1936 Olympics Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Emil Ochra (fencing) - 1960 and 1964 Olympics; and Stanisław Baran, a football player.
Pole vaulting is a track and field event in which a person uses a long flexible pole (which today is usually made either of fiberglass or carbon fiber) as an aid to jump over a bar. Pole jumping competitions were known to the ancient Greeks, Cretans and Celts. It has been a full medal event at the Olympic Games since 1896 for men and since 2000 for women. It is typically classified as one of the four major jumping events in athletics, alongside the high jump, long jump and triple jump.
DeLaet played the 2012 season on a Major Medical Exemption with 26 starts to make $657,694 and match D. J. Trahan, the golfer who placed 125th on the 2011 money list. At the Sony Open in Hawaii, the first full-field event of the season, DeLaet led the first round in his first Tour event since June 2011. He finished fourth at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, his best finish of the season. DeLaet satisfied the terms of his exemption in July 2012 with eight starts to spare and kept his Tour card.
Saint Kitts and Nevis competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, from August 5 to 21, 2016. This was the nation's sixth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics. The St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee sent the nation's largest delegation to the Games since its debut in 1996, due to the participation of the men's 4 × 100 m relay squad. A total of seven athletes, six men and one woman, were selected to the Saint Kitts and Nevis team, competing only in the track and field event.
In addition, he tied for third in his first appearance in the PGA Championship. Nicklaus completed the year with over $60,000 () in prize money, made 26 of 26 cuts with 16 top-10 finishes, placed third on the PGA Tour money list, and was named Rookie of the Year. He also won the inaugural staging of the World Series of Golf, a select-field event for the year's major champions, and collected another $50,000 () in unofficial money for that win. In 1963, Nicklaus won two of the four majors—the Masters and the PGA Championship.
The 1997 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships was organised by USA Track & Field and held from June 20 to 24 at the IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The four-day competition served as the national championships in track and field for the United States and also the trials for the 1997 World Championships in Athletics in Athens, Greece. It was the third time that the stadium in Indianapolis had held the combined gender national track and field event. The USA Junior Championships were held in conjunction with the event.
As a senior in 1902, Snow excelled in the shot put. Seeking to focus on the shot put, Snow resigned the captaincy of the baseball team in February 1902. At the time, Snow told a reporter: > A captain ought to be on the field during all practice hours, and if I > filled the position I would not feel at liberty to leave the diamond to go > over and take coaching for a field event. Besides, I have college work that > keeps me busy until 5 o'clock three times a week.
The Volvo World Match Play Championship was an annual match play men's professional golf tournament which was staged from 1964 to 2014. The World Match Play Championship was a limited field event, originally contested by just eight players before being expanded to sixteen in 1977, and to 24 in 2011. In 2004 it became an official tournament on the European Tour for the first time, having previously been a designated "approved special event". The event was traditionally played in the autumn, usually in October, but moved to a May date in 2011.
However, much more than a pretty face Ethel Catherwood took home the world's first ever gold medal awarded to a female high jumper and holds the title as the only Canadian female athlete to have won an individual gold medal in an Olympic track and field event. Catherwood also held national titles in javelin throw, but this event became Olympic only in 1932, whereas she retired from competitions a year earlier. Upon her return from the 1928 Olympics, Catherwood was offered a movie contract, but declined the offer. She took a business course, married, and moved to California.

The next 9 hurdles are set at a distance of 8.5 metres from each other, and the home stretch from the last hurdle to the finish line is 10.5 metres long.

In October of the same year, he became the Junior World Champion at the ISF junior World Championships held in Shanghai with a winning distance of 79.46. Shortly after his return from Shanghai, Pienaar threw an unofficial distance of 81.94 at a local high school track and field event. The distance was further than the official junior world record, but due to the event staff and measuring equipment not having been officially calibrated, Pienaar's junior world record could not be regarded as official by the IAAF.
The softball throw is a track and field event used as a substitute for more technical throwing events in competitions involving Youth, Paralympic, Special Olympics and Senior competitors. The general rules for the softball throw parallel those of the javelin throw when conducted in a formal environment, but the implement being thrown is a standard softball, which resembles the size of a standard shot but is considerably lighter. The event was one of the standardized test events as part of the President's Award on Physical Fitness. It is an official event for ages 9–12 in the Hershey Youth track and field program.
As world record holder in the long jump and high jump Blankers-Koen may have been able to win further medals but, at this time, female athletes were limited to three individual events. Duncan White won the first medal of any kind for Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) when he finished second in the 400 metre hurdles. Arthur Wint became the first Jamaican to win an Olympic gold medal, in the men's 400 metres; he also won silver in the men's 800 metres. Audrey Patterson became the first African- American woman to win a medal, winning bronze in a track and field event.
Tereapii Tapoki was the only female Cook Islander participating in a track and field event in Beijing, and was the only Cook Islander in her nation's delegation during those games. Born in Oiretumu, a settlement on the island of Mauke, Tapoki's debut at the Olympics was in the 2004 Athens games when she was 20 years old; she represented the Cook Islands in the same event during those games. Tapoki was placed in the first heat during the 15 August qualification round, which included 19 athletes. The athletes were given three opportunities to throw the discus.
The school fields girls' sports teams in basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball. In 2013, the Kennedy girls sprinters team finished first in both the 3rd Annual Tiger Invite at South Pasadena High School, and the 46th Annual Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High School, a track and field event that involved more than six hundred schools from over thirty states. Kennedy student Takkarist McKinley won first place at Arcadia in the boy's 200-meter dash. Also in 2013, the girls basketball team advanced to its first state basketball game at the NorCal Division III playoffs.
Martínez mainly competed in category F12 track and field events, and represents Madrid in Spanish national competitions. Martínez competed in the 2009 Spanish National Athletics Championship where she finished first in the women's visually impaired long jump. At the 2011 Basauri Meeting track and field event, she finished first in the long jump with a distance of 5.40 meters. The 2011 Spanish National Adaptive Athletics Championships were held in Valencia and she competed in them. She competed at the 2011 IPC World Athletics Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand where she finished fourth in the long jump and seventh in the 100 meters.
On February 27, 2011, he won the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun in a playoff over Spencer Levin with par on the first hole and regained his Tour card through 2013. It was the first time since 2000 that a golfer (Robert Allenby) finished 126th on the Tour and won the following season. Johnson won the first full-field event of 2012, the Sony Open in Hawaii, and extended his Tour privileges through 2014. He also moved into the Top 100 in the OWGR for the first time in his career, moving from 198 to 92.
Roanoke is an NCAA Division III school competing in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The college fields varsity teams (known as "Maroons"; the college's athletic colors are maroon and gray) in nine men's and ten women's sports. Roanoke is particularly noted for the strength of its men's lacrosse program and women's track and field. Roanoke teams have won two national championships: the 1972 NCAA Division II men's basketball championship and the 1978 Division II men's lacrosse championship. In 2001, Roanoke student Casey Smith won an individual national championship in the Division III women's 10,000m track and field event.
Men's steeplechaser Moses Kiptanui won three straight titles from 1991 to 1995 and Asbel Kiprop achieved the same feat in the 1500 metres from 2011 to 2015. Julius Yego is the country's only field event medallist, having won the men's javelin throw in 2015. Kenya's dominance in the steeplechase event is such that a Kenyan-born man has won every title since 1991. Former Kenyans have also had impacts for other nations at the championships, including 2007's double champion Bernard Lagat (United States), two-time steeplechase champion Saif Saaeed Shaheen (Qatar) and marathon winner Rose Chelimo (Bahrain).
Carr was ranked the 93rd best player in the nation and was listed as a 3-star recruit by the end of his senior season. He committed to the University of Colorado over offers from Arkansas, Arizona State, Iowa, Kentucky, Oregon, Texas A&M;, Texas Tech, TCU, and Wake Forest. Carr also played football alongside fellow NFL player Antoine Winfield Jr., who played safety for The Woodlands. He was also a four-year letterer in track, where he received state honors in the 100-meter dash, the 4x100 relay race, the 4x200 relay race, and the field event long jump.

The tournament is a limited-field event with no cut; in 2011, 60 players were in the tournament (57 professionals and 3 amateurs); a full-field LPGA tournament has about 144 players. Neer did not make the 1984 or 1988 Olympic teams, but continued to compete in the discus and made the 1992 Olympic team at age 33. She was the first U-M woman to qualify for the Olympics in a field event. Though she did not place at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona with a disappointing throw of 181.89 feet (55.44 meters), she was only the fourth American woman to throw the discus more than 200 feet. She broke the 200-foot mark at the 1985 Pacific Coast Championships with a throw of 201 feet, four inches (61.37 meters).

Prior to his professional life, Kevin Sloan was a track athlete and long jumper. At Topeka Hayden High School he established an All-Time state best (24’-6”) a record that stood for nearly 30 years. In his senior year, he won the long jump at the 1975 Golden West Invitational Track Meet in Sacramento, California (24’-8”) defeating Ken Carter of Brooklyn, New York (24’-5.”). The Golden West Invitational was considered to be the national high school track and field event at that time and has included the participation of athletes such as Terry Bradshaw, Bob Beamon and James Lofton.
Also in 2012 Lalonde Gordon competed in the XXX Summer Olympics where he won a bronze medal in the , being surpassed by Luguelin Santos of the Dominican Republic and Kirani James of Grenada. Keshorn Walcott (as stated above) came first in javelin and earned a gold medal, making him the second Trinidadian in the country's history to receive one. This also makes him the first Western athlete in 40 years to receive a gold medal in the javelin sport, and the first athlete from Trinidad and Tobago to win a gold medal in a field event in the Olympics. Sprinter Richard Thompson is also from Trinidad and Tobago.
The pole vault at the Summer Olympics is grouped among the four track and field jumping events held at the multi-sport event. The men's pole vault has been present on the Olympic athletics programme since the first Summer Olympics in 1896. The women's event is one of the latest additions to the programme, first being contested at the 2000 Summer Olympics – along with the addition of the hammer throw, this brought the women's field event programme to parity with the men's. The Olympic records for the event are for men, set by Thiago Braz da Silva in 2016, and for women, set by Yelena Isinbayeva in 2008.
Michelle Probert was the first woman from Wales to win an Olympic medal, running in the 4 × 400 m relay, while no female athlete from Wales has won an individual Olympic medal. Some of the more notable Welsh athletes include Lynn Davies, gold medalist in the long jump in the 1964 Summer Olympics. Nicknamed 'Lynn the Leap', Davies was also the flagbearer for the Great Britain team in the 1968 games and is the only Welsh athlete to have won gold in an individual Olympic track and field event. 110m hurdler Colin Jackson is a former world record holder and the winner of numerous Olympic, World and European medals.
Scoring in the non-final meets was extended from the top six to the top eight, with the winner receiving eight points and the runner-up seven, down to one point for an eighth-place finish. Instead of all 32 events appearing in six meets and the final, half of the events now appear in only four qualifying meets in addition to the final; the remaining events are still contested in six qualifying meets and the final. A controversial field event rule change from 2016, under which only the top four athletes after three rounds were allowed the full six attempts, was reverted for 2017.
Sondhi found an alternative; rather than organising a multi-sport event, for which he needed an approval of the IOA, he opted for a single event championship titled the Asian Athletic Championships—a track and field event. Sondhi, who was also the president of the Amateur Athletic Federation of India (AAFI) (now Athletics Federation of India), received the consent of federation in February 1948. Yadavindra, on the request of Sondhi, became the president of the organising committee for the Championship, and Sondhi took the position of chairman. In early July, formal invitations were sent to various Asian countries, backed by the letter from the AAFI.

The tournament was founded in 2000 as the Tampa Bay Classic, and was originally an alternate event in autumn and late summer. It was opposite the Presidents Cup in October 2000, and the same week as the WGC-American Express Championship in September 2002. It was scheduled for the same week as the WGC-American Express Championship in 2001 in mid-September, but the September 11 attacks (on Tuesday) forced the cancellations of both tournaments. From 2003 to 2006, the Tampa Bay event had a slot in the schedule to itself in late October (and early November in 2003) as the last full-field event before the Tour Championship.
The Athletics track at Stanley Park Blackpool The oval cinder track built in the 1960s was upgraded in 1987 to a synthetic track with floodlights. The arena houses an "eight-lane outdoor synthetic track, 6 lane indoor synthetic track, full range of field event facilities, UK Athletics-qualified coaches, covered stand with seating for over 300 spectators, Clubhouse and changing rooms with disabled provisions". The arena is regularly used by local schools on summer sports days. Blackpool F.C., the town's professional football club, had its home at the athletic grounds on the same site between 1897 and 1899, prior to moving to its current Bloomfield Road address.
In 1933, pari-mutuel betting was legalized in Oregon, and by May 23 of that year the Multnomah Kennel Club hosted its first greyhound race on the stadium's new track. The Kennel Club maintained its headquarters at the stadium until 1956, when the track was removed. The Portland Beavers minor league baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) had played some games at Multnomah Field during 1905 when their Vaughn Street Park was temporarily reconfigured to host a track and field event. They moved into Multnomah Stadium in 1956 after over a half century at Vaughn Street, a wooden ballpark which was soon demolished.
In 2014, freshman athlete Adam Lee joined the team and picked up a multitude of events spanning the sprints, jumps, throws, and hurdles. Throughout his career Lee amassed 10 school records, most notable of which being a 7.20m (23' 8") long jump and a 2.00m (6' 6¾") high jump. Lee achieved an OFSAA bronze medal in the long jump as a freshman and capped off his final high school season by becoming 2018's OFSAA champion in the senior division of the long jump. This win was the school's first OFSAA title in a field event since Chris Laubach's shot put title almost exactly 40 years prior in 1978.
An unofficial four- man event over 36 holes through 1975, it became a limited field event over 72 holes in 1976. During the third round of the PGA Championship in 1975, Jack Nicklaus pulled out a remarkable par on the 16th hole, considered to be the hardest hole on Firestone's courses. Trailing Bruce Crampton by four strokes after two rounds, Nicklaus gained eight shots on Saturday to lead by four after 54 holes and won his fourth PGA Championship. Tiger Woods also had a memorable moment on the South course when his "shot in the dark" on the 72nd hole at the WGC event in 2000 ensured victory by eleven strokes.
At the 3M Open in July 2020, he lead the field after the first round, was tied for the lead after the second and third rounds, and finished with a T-3. On August 2, 2020, Werenski won the PGA Tour's opposite field event, the Barracuda Championship on Tahoe Mountain Club's Old Greenwood Course in Truckee, California. He holed a flop shot from the fairway on the par-4 16th for a five-point eagle and birdied the last for a one-point victory over Troy Merritt. Werenski won the event three years after losing to Chris Stroud on the second hole of a playoff.

The sprint hurdles distance was 80 m outdoors until 1969 and thereafter 100 m; in indoor pentathlon the distance is 60 m.
This does excludes field event champions such as Tora Harris (2002 high jump) who had been Princeton's last NCAA Outdoor Track and Field champion. When combined with the men's squash team and epeeist Jonathan Yergler, it marked the first academic year that Princeton had three national champions since 2003. Harris had also been the last track and field Olympian, although no Princeton distance runner had qualified for the Olympics since class of 1906 Princetonian John Eisele earned a silver medal in the steeplechase and a bronze medal in the three-mile at the 1908 Summer Olympics. No Princeton runner had made the Olympics since Bill Stevenson went to the 1924 Summer Olympics.
Lafayette records indicate that the first athletic meeting between the two schools was a series of baseball games played in Easton and Bethlehem in October 1869. The first game was a 45–45 tie, and Lafayette won the second meeting 31–24. The first joint athletic track and field event held between the two institutions was on May 14, 1881 on the grounds of the Lehigh University Athletic Association. The meet consisted of fourteen events; Hundred Yards Dash, Half-Mile Run, Throwing the Hammer, Running High Jump, 440 Yards Dash, Mile Walk, Putting the Shot, Running Broad Jump, 220 Yards Dash, Mile Run, Pole Vaulting, 120 Yards Hurdle Race, Bicycle Race, Standing High Jump, and Tug of War.
Trecia Smith won the gold in the triple jump, the first ever by a Jamaican in a field event at the global level.Robinson, Jamaican Athletics, p. 45. Veronica Campbell in the women's 100 m, Michael Frater in the men's 100 m, Delloreen Ennis-London in the 100 m hurdles, and the women's 4x100 m (Daniele Browning, Sherone Simpson, Aleen Bailey, and Veronica Campbell) and 4x400 m (Shericka Williams, Novlene Williams, Ronetta Smith, and Fenton) teams, all won silver medals. Brigitte Foster-Hylton finished behind Ennis-London for bronze in the 100 m hurdles, and the men's 4x400 m team (Sanjay Ayre, Brandon Simpson, Lansford Spence, and Davian Clarke) also finished with bronze.
