In 1912 he finished thirteenth in the two handed javelin throw event and fourteenth in the javelin throw competition. He was born in Leksand and died in Stockholm.
He represented Iraq at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. In 2016, he won the gold medal in the men's javelin throw F41 event with a distance of 42.85m. In 2019 he qualified to represent Iraq at the 2020 Summer Paralympics after winning the bronze medal in the men's javelin throw F41 event at the 2019 World Championships held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At the 2015 World Championships held in Doha, Qatar, he won the silver medal in the men's javelin throw F41 event.
Juho Julius Saaristo (21 July 1891 – 12 October 1969) was a Finnish track and field athlete. He won two medals at the 1912 Olympics: a silver in conventional javelin throw and a gold in the two-handed javelin throw, a one- time Olympic event in which the total was a sum of best throws with the right hand and with the left hand. He finished fourth in the javelin throw at the 1920 Olympics. Saaristo held the Finnish national title in the javelin in 1910, 1911 and 1919.

Erik Berthild Ruben "Blomman" Blomqvist (4 November 1896 – 14 January 1967) was a Swedish track and field athlete who competed at the 1920 and 1924 Summer Olympics. Natalya Vassilievna Smirnitskaya (; née Dyatlova; 8 September 1927 – 2004) was a Soviet track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. She broke the women's javelin throw world record twice in 1949, becoming the first Soviet woman to do so and the first woman to throw beyond fifty metres for the event. Smirnitskaya was the gold medallist at the 1950 European Athletics Championships and also the 1949 World Festival of Youth and Students. Väinö Villiam Siikaniemi (27 March 1887 – 24 August 1932) was a Finnish athlete who competed at the 1912 Summer Olympics. He finished fifth in the conventional javelin throw and won the silver medal in the two-handed javelin throw, a one-time Olympic event in which the total was counted as a sum of best throws with the right hand and with the left hand. Siikaniemi retired from sports after the 1912 Games and became a math teacher, poet and translator. In 1923 he published his first poem and 1929 a collection of poetry.
Patsy Serafina Akeli (born December 7, 1978 in Motootua) is a Samoan javelin thrower. She is a two-time Olympian, a 2008 national javelin throw champion, and a member of QEII Track Club in Australia. She set both a national record and a personal best throw of 54.78 metres, by winning her event at the New Zealand Athletics Championships in Wellington, New Zealand. Akeli made her official debut for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she placed fortieth in the qualifying rounds of the women's javelin throw, at a distance of 45.93 metres.

Northrup's Big Ten record in the javelin throw stood until 1933 when Duane Purvis of Purdue recorded a distance of 208 feet, 5-1/4 inches. Amy was encouraged and motivated to participate at the 2005 Summer Deaflympics, which was held in Australia in her home country by her teacher when she was just 18 years old. But in 2004, she met in a terrible car accident which was a major setback with a bad knee laceration and a broken thumb. Despite the terrible accident, Amy competed at the 2005 Summer Deaflympics and went onto win a gold medal for javelin throw. Lajos Csejthey (; February 14, 1895 – August 3, 1977) was a Hungarian physician and athlete, who competed in the javelin throw and the discus throw. A six time national champion of the javelin throw event, he became the first Hungarian to break the 60 metres barrier in 1922, and the first sportsman from Vas County to participate at the Olympic Games in 1924. After the Olympics Csejthey moved to Vasvár and later to Csorna, concentrating on his civil life and work as a health officier and dentist. He died in 1977 and was buried in the Saint Anthony Cemetery in Csorna.

The competition in the javelin throw was extremely close; fellow Finn, Yrjo Nikkanen finished just five centimeters ahead of Toivonen to win the silver medal, and one meter ahead of both Finns was Germany's Gerhard Stöck, who won the gold medal at 71.84 meters. Both Toivonen and Nikkanen had been ahead of Gerhard Stöck through four rounds of throwing; then in round five, Stöck came through with his gold medal winning performance.

Eric Otto Valdemar Lemming (22 February 1880 – 5 June 1930) was a Swedish track and field athlete who competed at the 1900, 1906, 1908 and 1912 Olympics in a wide variety of events, which mostly involved throwing and jumping. He had his best results in the javelin throw, which he won at the 1906–1912 Games, and in which he set multiple world records between 1899 and 1912. His last record, measured at 62.32 m, was ratified by the International Association of Athletics Federations as the first official world record. Knut Andreas "Knatten" Lindberg (2 February 1882 – 6 April 1961) was a Swedish athlete who competed at the 1906 Intercalated Games and the 1908 and 1912 Summer Olympics. He had his best results in 1906, when he won a silver medal in javelin throw and finished fifth in ancient pentathlon and sixth in the 100 m race. He won another silver medal in 1912, with the Swedish 4 × 100 m relay team, but failed to reach the finals in all his other events in 1908 and 1912, which included sprint and javelin throw. Lindberg won 15 national athletics titles: nine over 100 m (1902, 1904–1909, 1911 and 1912); three over 200 m (1908–1909 and 1912) and three over 110 m hurdles (1907–1909).
