In November 1506 Margaret of Austria, Duchess of Savoy, became Governor of the Habsburg Netherlands and chose Adrian as her advisor. The Moravian nobility forced the establishment of the Professorate of Law through a decree of Emperor Leopold I despite the opposition of Jesuits, who were in charge of the University. Irmler was paid 150 gulden a year directly by the nobility and was obliged to teach only students immatriculated (enrolled) at the University. Beverly Deepe Keever has had a varied career that spanned the journalistic profession and professorate. Her career ranged from public opinion polling for an author-syndicated columnist in New York City, to war correspondent, to covering Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and then to teaching and researching journalism and communications for 29 years at the University of Hawai’i. As a professor emerita and 40-some years after departing Saigon, she wrote her memoirs of covering the Vietnam War for seven years—longer than any other American correspondent as of that time.

The International Society for the Study of Gregorian Chant (Associazione Internazionale Studi di Canto Gregoriano) carries on the legacy of Eugène Cardine, putting special emphasis on bridging the gap between Gregorian research and praxis. The Society has some 500 members in 30 countries worldwide. Other students of Cardine, who, like Fischer and Billecocg, held a professorate at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome or other church music institutes, include Marie-Noel Colette, Luigi Agustoni, Johannes Berchmans Göschl and Godehard Joppich. They were paid by the Moravian nobility, and since 1709 the Professors were appointed directly by the Emperors. While in the next decade the Jesuits accepted the Professorate within the University, the Nobility was seeking to enlarge the education opportunities. In 1725 the Moravian nobility forced the establishment of the Collegium Nobilium — the Academy of Nobility — by the decree of Emperor Charles VI in Olomouc. The lectures were provided by Professor of Law (since 1732 there were two of them, since 1735 three), who was teaching also at the University, Professor of Engineering (who taught both civil and military engineering and architecture, mathematics, geometry and cartography), lecturer of languages (initially French, since 1815 also Italian, since 1829 also Czech), and teachers of dance, gymnastics, swordsmanship and equitation.

Constantin Meissner (May 27, 1854-September 19, 1942) was a Romanian pedagogue and schoolteacher. Born in Iași in the Principality of Moldavia (present-day Romania), his family was of German origin.Ion Mamina, Monarhia constituțională în România, p. 402. Bucharest: Editura Enciclopedică, 2000. He studied at the private Institutul Academic, followed by two years (1870-1872) at Iași University. With the help of his professor Titu Maiorescu, he was sent to the universities of Vienna and Berlin in 1873 in order to complete his studies. After returning home, he taught German language and literature at an Iași school for the sons of soldiers between 1878 and 1891. Meanwhile, in the autumn of 1879, he won a competition for the pedagogy professorate at the local Vasile Lupu Normal School, remaining there until retiring in 1913.

Vasile Tarnavschi (December 16, 1859 - February 4, 1945) was an Imperial Austrian-born Romanian theologian. Born in Mihoveni, in Austrian-ruled Bukovina, he attended high school in Suceava from 1870 to 1878, followed by the theology faculty of Czernowitz University from 1878 to 1882. After earning his doctorate there in 1886, he undertook specialized studies in the Old Testament and Semitic languages at Vienna, Breslau and Berlin from 1898 to 1900. He served as a priest in Stroiești from 1887 to 1889, as a priest and religion teacher in Suceava from 1889 to 1896 and as a priest in Czernowitz (Cernăuți) from 1896 to 1898. After the death of Isidor Onciul in 1897 and resulting vacancy of the Old Testament and Hebrew language professorate in the Czernowitz theology faculty, Tarnavschi was hired as a teaching assistant for those subjects in 1900.
