Museo da Natureza, Serra da Capivara Guidon has set up a cultural center, the American Man Museum, the Nature's Museum, and numerous community support centers in local communities. These offer civil services, education, medical aid, and training in ecology, prehistory, and the restoration of archaeological artifacts. Guidon has also made attempts at improving the educational opportunities in Brazil by leading petitions to build schools. She successfully established five new schools in local communities with a teaching faculty from the University of São Paulo, but they have slowly declined in activity due to the lack of governmental structure.

Ironclad (1973) Ironclad is a miniatures wargame written by Tom Wham and Don Lowry and published by Guidon Games in 1973. The rules simulate American Civil War naval combat such as the 1862 battle between the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia.

On 19 May, while the Việt Minh were celebrating Ho Chi Minh's birthday, Sergeant Beres, a Hungarian legionnaire serving with 1st Foreign Parachute Battalion (1er B.E.P), crawled into a Việt Minh command post and rescued the flag. A string called a guidon is tied around the playing string below the bridge and runs up to the pegbox where it is wrapped around a peg. The guidon adjusts the balance of the bridge by pulling the playing string. The measurements of the tromba marina varied considerably, as did the shape of the body and the number of strings. Guidon of the 125th New York Volunteers carried at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Flags like this silk swallowtail standard were used as markers on the battlefield to assist with maneuvers. The flag displays 34 gold-painted stars in the canton. It matches the stars and stripes pattern described in General Order No. 4, Headquarters of the U.S. Army, dated 18 January 1862.

The North Dakota National Guard was organized, comprising six infantry companies, two cavalry troops, and one artillery battery. Eight infantry companies of the First North Dakota Regiment were mobilized for the Spanish–American War and the Philippine–American War in 1898. The Regiment earns thirty-nine silver battle rings for its guidon and ten members of the First North Dakota Infantry Volunteers are awarded the Medal of Honor.

Erasmus Hospital (, ) is a hospital in the Anderlecht municipality of Brussels, Belgium. It is a teaching hospital associated with the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), and was opened in 1977. It has 858 beds and 3000 staff, treating 26,000 inpatients and 260,000 outpatients each year. The hospital is named after Renaissance humanist and theologian Desiderius Erasmus, who lived in Anderlecht near the Saints-Pierre-et-Guidon church in the 16th century.

Bravo Company guidon Company B (Intelligence and Surveillance) was divided into two very distinctive platoons. The ground surveillance radar platoon had three squads of scouts to carry, install, and utilise ground surveillance radars to observe enemy vehicle traffic. These three squads would provide GSR support to the division's three manoeuvre brigades. The other platoon, known as the operations support element, was composed of two counterintelligence teams and two interrogation teams.

In 1928 the CMR Polo Club was formed. On Armistice Day 1931, the old regimental guidon was laid up for safe keeping at St. Paul's Church, Kandy where the second was laid up for safe keeping after the regiment was disbanded. With the demise of cavalry warfare the regiment was disbanded in 1938. At its disbandment most of its personal were transferred to the Ceylon Planters Rifle Corps.

Chainmail is a medieval miniature wargame created by Gary Gygax and Jeff Perren. Gygax developed the core medieval system of the game by expanding on rules authored by his fellow Lake Geneva Tactical Studies Association (LGTSA) member Perren, a hobby-shop owner with whom he had become friendly. Guidon Games released the first edition of Chainmail in 1971 as its first miniature wargame and one of its three debut products.

The battle honours of the unit which have been approved for emblazonment appear on either side of the central emblem in small gold scrolls, their chronology being from left to right, beginning at the top with the exception of the battle honours "New Zealand" and "South Africa 1899–1902", which appear beneath the unit motto. The QAMR Guidon is carried by the Squadron Sergeant Major (SSM), with an escort of two Senior Non Commissioned Officers (SNCO).

It was consecrated on February 27, 1842, and is still an active Anglican church. The church construction was begun by Lieutenant-Colonel W.E. O'Brien, who also was the progenitor of Shanty Bay, the village the church is in. "Based on lessons learned from combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Army leaders saw a need for a very special unit", Colonel Joe Cox said. Cox is commander of the 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, the host for the ceremony and the squadron's parent organization.

Every fall, the Lowell Drill Platoon, Color Guard, Best Guidon Bearer, and Brigade Best Squad compete in the Annual Fall Liberty Bell Competition. In addition, every spring, Lowell's Exhibition Drill Teams and Drum Corps participate in the Spring 91st Infantry Memorial Drill Competition. The Lowell Raider Challenge Team also competes in the San Francisco JROTC Brigade Raider Challenge, which consists of a physical fitness test, first aid obstacle course, land navigation, and a three kilometer run.
After playing in the Blackmoor game Arneson refereed, Gygax almost immediately began a similar campaign of his own which he called Greyhawk and asked Arneson for a draft of his playing rules. The two then collaborated by phone and mail, and playtesting carried out by their various groups and other contacts. Gygax and Arneson wanted to have the game published, but Guidon Games and Avalon Hill rejected it. Arneson could not afford to invest in the venture.
Charlie Company cased its guidon on 1 October 1990. Delta Company inactivated on 14 February 1991, when it reorganized to form the nucleus of the 102nd Engineer Company, 199th Infantry Brigade (Motorized). Soldiers and equipment from across the battalion were used to fill the new company. The 73rd Engineer Company(ARB), after its three-month combat tour in Operation Desert Storm, returned to I Corps control and was attached to 864th Engineer Battalion until its inactivation in 1994.
The sunburst flag's design is inspired by the Fianna of Irish mythology. Described as brave warriors who performed a large number of impressive feats, the Fianna referred to themselves as either Gal Gréine or Scal Ghréine, which both mean sunburst. The earliest confirmed use of the sunburst flag is found in the 18th century as the guidon of the County Sligo Light Horse. The motto was as Post nubila Phoebus ("After the clouds Sun") symbolizing a new day.

King George V presents a guidon to the Shropshire Yeomanry (1911). The Shropshire Yeomanry dates its origins to the French Revolutionary Wars, when volunteer cavalry units were raised throughout the country. These small units, which included the Wellington Troop formed in Shropshire in 1795, amalgamated into three larger units, the Shrewsbury Yeomanry Cavalry, the South Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry and the North Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry in 1815. These larger units consolidated into a single unit in 1872.

Following the Battle of the Little Big Horn, Lakota leaders split up, each doing what they thought best for their people. Most were heading back to the reservations. On September 9, 1876, Chief American Horse's camp of 37 lodges, about 260 people, of whom 30 to 40 were warriors, was attacked and destroyed by General George Crook at the Battle of Slim Buttes.
As described in Chapter 6 of Army Regulation 840-10, guidons are swallow-tailed marker flags in branch-of-service colors, measuring at the hoist by at the fly, with the swallow-tail end forked . Both Perrin and Gygax "swiped" Coggin's artwork to illustrate their preliminary articles about Chainmail that appeared in Panzerfaust and The Domesday Book. When Don Lowry of Guidon Games agreed to publish Chainmail, Lowry swiped the same Coggins illustration for the cover. For the fantasy supplement, the illustration of a mounted knight charging towards a dragon, was drawn by Don Lowry, based heavily on an illustration by Pauline Baynes for J. R. R. Tolkien's Farmer Giles of Ham (1949).
The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps battalion at Galileo is an Honor Unit with Distinction, the highest designation a unit may have. Its afterschool teams are very competitive, often highly placed in the annual fall and spring competitions. Fall teams consist of the Guidon, Squad Drill, Color Guard and Drill Platoon while Spring teams include Drum Corps, Silent Drill Team and Exhibition Drill Team. Other competitions occur during the last week of school at Camp Parks.

Corona graduated with gold medal honors from the Ateneo de Manila grade school in 1962 and high school in 1966. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, also from Ateneo de Manila, in 1970, where he was the editor-in-chief of The GUIDON, the university student newspaper. He finished his Bachelor of Laws at the Ateneo Law School in 1974. He placed 25th out of 1,965 candidates in the bar examination with a grade of 84.6%.
At the same time, a new type of standard, the heraldic standard, was introduced. Presently, the military units, commands, forces and establishments have both a national standard and an heraldic standard. While the design of the national standards reflects the National Flag, the designs of the heraldic standards reflect the individual heraldic symbology of each of the units. In the Portuguese military parlance, a guidon (guião) is a small square flag of a battalion sized unit.
The present guidon design - similar in all branches of the Military - consists in the quadrature of the coat of arms of the corresponding unit or of its parent unit, framed by a bordure. The colors of the bordure can be used to identify a sub-unit inside its parent unit. Besides heraldic standards and guidons, the Portuguese military units also use heraldic pennants (flâmulas). These are small swallow-tailed or triangular flags used to identify company sized units.
Following OIF 04–06, the regiment relocated from Fort Carson, Colorado to Fort Hood, Texas. The regiment officially completed its move in July 2006. On 29 June 2006, COL H.R. McMaster completed his command and officially gave the guidon to COL Michael Bills. The 3rd ACR began training for another tour in OIF right away, fielding new weapons systems (including new M1A2 Abrams tanks and M3A3 Bradley fighting vehicles) and re-build the organization following the move from Fort Carson.
The blue and silver-white of the guidon represent the Air Force's colors---blue for the sky and silver-white for clouds and striking power in the medium of the air. The eagle represents the American eagle while the words "USAF Honor Guard" are self-explanatory. The emblem of the Colors element, created in 2000, incorporates the spade-shaped finial (commonly called the warhead) as well as other symbols associated with the Colors element. Their motto is "Leading the Charge".
The 56th Coast Artillery Brigade was constituted on the Inactive list, 14 September 1942. It was activated at Camp Stewart, Georgia on 10 April 1943 and was redesignated the 56th Antiaircraft Artillery Brigade on 28 May 1943. During World War II, Headquarters Battery (HHB) saw action in Belgium and received two Belgian Fourrageres for action at Antwerp and was cited for the defense of Antwerp Harbor. HHB is entitled to permanently display the Belgian Fourragere from the spearhead of its guidon.
A few years later, Niède was finally able to visit the rock shelters at Piauí and started her research in the area in 1973. In 1978, Niède Guidon convinced the French government to establish an archeological mission to study prehistory at Piauí. National and international researchers and local field assistants composed this scientific mission, which was led by Niède until her retirement. She then invited Eric Boëda, a researcher at the CNRS and professor at the Université Paris, to lead the scientific mission.

Keenan entered the Army as a Nurse Corps Officer commissioned through ROTC at Henderson State University. She completed a variety of assignments such as nursing at domestic and overseas facilities of the United States Army, and eventually rising to the post of Commander, Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado.
Cpl Hornburg was posthumously awarded the "Mention in Dispatches" for his exemplary performance in combat. As a result of the unit's contribution to the War in Afghanistan, The King's Own were awarded the battle honour in 2014, which the regiment now proudly displays on their guidon. In 2017, the regiment added a detachment into the High River, Alberta area, which currently parades at the High River Regional Airport. The regiment's aim is to eventually grow this detachment into squadron-sized unit.
On 28 April 2008, a Lance Guard consisting of members of 4/19 PWLH and 12/16 HRL was involved in the dedication of the Park of the Australian Soldier in Beersheba, Israel. The park includes a bronze statue of a lighthorseman involved in the Charge of Beersheba on 31 October 1917. This event was the first time the Regiment's Guidon has travelled overseas. The regiment has been granted the Freedom of Entry to five cities: Melbourne, Kyneton, Beechworth, Traralgon and Sale.
Givens officially took command and became the 17th Commander of AFOSI during a change of command ceremony held at Quantico, VA, on May 7, 2014. Givens received the AFOSI guidon from Lieutenant General Stephen P. Mueller, Inspector General of the Air Force, which officially denoted the departure of Brigadier General Kevin J. Jacobsen as outgoing AFOSI Commander. Addressing AFOSI personnel for the first time as their commander, Givens thanked LTG Mueller for entrusting him. "I consider this a distinct honor," he remarked.

Whilst in college, Max joined The GUIDON, the school's official student publication, and served as its managing editor. He served as part of the College Editors Guild, which he would become vice- president of in 1949–50, attending conferences at Iloilo, Cebu, and Zamboanga. Before graduating in March 1951, Max joined the Sentinel, the weekly newspaper published by the Archdiocese of Manila as associate editor. Max was also an active member of the Ateneo's Chesterton Evidence Guild as a champion debator and orator.
It is entrusted to the unit guide for parades and ceremonies, and displayed in or near the commander's office when he or she is present. Guidons are also used in recruit training to identify individual platoons. First and second phase platoons have a gold background with their four-digit platoon number in scarlet, while third phase platoons have a scarlet background with gold lettering and trim. The guidon is used as an aid to instilling unit identity and pride, representing the platoon.
Any unit citation, war service or campaign streamer may be attached to guidons. Guidon-bearing elements of US Army Regimental System units are entitled to display all streamers awarded to the regiment, with those earned by its own higher echelon (battalion or squadron) denoted by the addition of the Earned Honor Device, an embroidered laurel wreath, at the fly. The last unit to fly a guidon with a 31st Cavalry designation was Troop E, 31st Cavalry, a rapid deployment unit of the Alabama Army National Guard in Sylacauga, Alabama from 1973 to 2005. Troop E was formed in 1973 without an official history. It was created as a new unit to be the reconnaissance for the recently formed 31st Armored Brigade. When E-Troop of the 31st Cavalry was created, no one bothered to document the correct history of the unit.
Gary Gygax met Don Lowry at Gen Con III (1970), and Gygax later signed with Lowry when he founded Guidon Games to produce a series of rules called "Wargaming with Miniatures". The first game published was a further expansion of the medieval rules, published as Chainmail. Along with the previous medieval rules, Chainmail included a 14-page "fantasy supplement" including figures such as heroes, superheroes, and wizards. The fantasy supplement also included mythical creatures such as elves, orcs, and dragons.

Jeannine Guindon completed Bachelor of Arts degree and a diploma in pedagogy from the University of Ottawa in 1939, then taught in Cornwall and Mountain, Ontario. She received a master of arts degree in psychology from the Université de Montréal in 1945. Guidon helped found the Montreal Counselling and Rehabilitation Centre and was its director from 1947 to 1977. She also founded the Quebec Psycho-Education Centre which she directed from 1953 to 1969 while teaching psychology at the Université de Montréal.
After obtaining her doctorate in psychology in 1969 from the Université de Montréal, Jeannine Guidon and presided over the creation of the university's School of Psychoeducation in 1971. She was its director from 1972 to 1976. Guindon, Gendreau, and Euchariste Paulhus were the three main founders of psychoeducation, a discipline serving young people in difficulty. Guindon particularly chose to train caregivers for people who have intellectual disabilities or disabilities, children with emotional problems, delinquent persons, or those who were socially maladjusted.

In 1968, a decade after reverting to armour as the 28th Armoured Regiment, Royal Canadian Armoured Corps, a guidon was approved but never produced. Two years later, The Grey and Simcoe Foresters reverted to infantry, Royal Canadian Infantry Corps. On 3 September 1983, the colours were trooped in the presence of His Excellency The Right Honourable Edward Schreyer, Governor General of Canada. In 1986, the colours were paraded with the guard of honour for Anne, Princess Royal, during her official opening of Queen's Quay, Toronto, Ontario.

This seems to be a dividing line on the debate among archaeologists disputing Guidon's theory that the site's artifacts prove pre-Clovis human settlement in the Americas.
In 1981, the decision was made to amalgamate the two regiments to form the 3rd/4th Cavalry Regiment.Finlayson 2012, pp. 281 & 304. After this, the unit headquarters was established at Enoggera Barracks in Brisbane along with 'A' Squadron and the Technical Squadron, although 'B' Squadron, which had been transferred from the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, remained in Townsville. On 14 May 1986, while at Enoggera, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, presented the 3rd Cavalry Regiment's guidon to the 3rd/4th Cavalry Regiment.
It included the 2nd Light Armoured Fighting Vehicle Regiment (Queen Alexandra's Wellington West Coast Mounted Rifles). In 1947 the Royal New Zealand Armoured Corps (RNZAC) was formed. Following the Second World War the regiment underwent a series of name, role changes and amalgamations. The arms of Grant use two slogans (or mottoes): , which appears above the crest; and STANDFAST, which appears beneath on a scroll beneath the shield. After several years of Ateneo de Manila students asking for a school newspaper, The GUIDON was founded on June 22 by 1929 by Rev. Frank O'Hara, SJ, with Manuel C. Colayco as its first Editor-in- Chief. During the 1930s, the paper immersed itself in national issues with a Catholic slant, which included its protestation at the time of a proposed divorce bill. Reaching Horizons is a demo-tape by the Brazilian power metal band Angra released in 1993 through Limb Music. The original cassette contained six songs, with some re-recorded for their debut album Angels Cry. In 1997, the record-company re-released the album, adding three bonus tracks. The songs were recorded in July 1992 at the Guidon Studios, Sao Paulo, by sound engineer Ezequias Aureliano, except for the last two which were recorded in January 1993 at the Anonimatos Studios in Sao Paulo.

In May 1998, a training center was established at Watsonville, and named after Chief Warrant Officer Ero "Ben" Saccone, who was the First Sergeant of Company C, 194th Tank Battalion in 1941; within the training center was the 40th Tank Company's guidon, which dated back to June 1924 (and survived combat overseas, and being hidden by unit members while they were POW). In 1937, Fritz Leiber and his college friend Harry Otto Fischer created a wargame set within the world of Nehwon, which Fischer had helped to create. This game initially used the "Lahkmar" spelling, and was played on a large (five feet by two and a half feet) three-dimensional board made of layers of corrugated colored paper representing various terrains. Gary Gygax, Robert J. Kuntz, and Brad Stock redeveloped the game for publication by TSR in 1976. The game was originally to have been published by Guidon Games.
The term gamemaster and the role associated with it could be found in the postal gaming hobby. In typical play-by-mail games, players control armies or civilizations and mail their chosen actions to the GM. The GM then mails the updated game state to all players on a regular basis. Usage in a wargaming context includes Guidon Games 1973 ruleset, Ironclad. In a role-playing game context, it was first used by Dave Arneson while developing his game Blackmoor in 1971, although the first usage in print may have been Chivalry & Sorcery.

When his younger brother, Norris, died in 1691, he appealed to the King, through his uncle the Marquess of Carmarthen, to obtain Norris' commission as a guidon and major in the 2nd Troop of Horse Guards for himself. According to Jon Peterson, this was likely done with the understanding that this could lead to eventual publication by Guidon Games. In November 1972, Dave Arneson and Dave Megarry traveled to Lake Geneva to meet with Gary Gygax, to provide a demonstration of their games.
Philip Goettel (September 2, 1840 - January 30, 1920) was a Union Army soldier in the American Civil War who received the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor. Goettel was born in Syracuse, New York, where he entered service. He was awarded the Medal of Honor, for extraordinary heroism shown in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, when he captured a flag and battery guidon while serving as a Private with the Company B of the 149th New York Infantry on November 24, 1863. His Medal of Honor was issued on June 28, 1865.

At the 2010 Final 16 he beat Hesdy Gerges by a close decision, after sustaining a cut to his shin in the fight that required 4 stitches. On 28 May 2008, the U.S. Army activated Alpha Battery, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment (A-4),Unit numbering: e.g., "Battery D, 2nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment" would abbreviate as 'D-2' on its guidon 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Fort Bliss, Texas. Battery A-4 is part of the 32nd Army Air & Missile Defense Command. At the time, the battery had 24 THAAD interceptors, three THAAD launchers based on the M1120 HEMTT Load Handling System, a THAAD Fire Control and a THAAD radar. Full fielding began in 2009.

Anthony Ference and Sgt Major William Grigsby, the unit deployed under its own guidon, conducting Aviation Ground Combat Support, only for the second time in two decades. In February 2010, MWSS-274 deployed to Camp Leatherneck in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). The Marine's of MWSS 274 earned the Marine Corps Support Squadron of the year from several achievements that were made during this deployment. While deployed, the unit was put through an inspection for which they passed and set the standards and bar for other and follow on units.

The Standard of the Princess of Asturias is regulated by Royal Decree 284/2001 that modified the Title II of Spanish Royal Decree 1511/1977. The Standard of the Princess of Asturias consists of a light blue (the colour of the flag of Asturias) square flag with the coat of arms of the Princess of Asturias in the center.
General-grade officers and the Commandant of the Marine Corps are authorized a personal flag, which displays their rank insignia. A red background with white stars are used, while the Commandant also has a grey and gold Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. These flags are often used to mark a command headquarters in garrison, as well as a symbol for the general himself. Much like a guidon, they are displayed when the general is present, and stowed when not; visiting officers and officials often have their personal flags displayed as a courtesy.
As part of a revised policy of integrating non-infantry TF units into the RF (or re-integrating in the case of WMR), in July 2012 the Squadron left the Haurakis and returned to QAMR as the regiment's reserve squadron. WMR's role was now defined as being to provide a reserve cavalry capability to the NZ Army, focusing on a mounted reconnaissance and surveillance skill set. With the re-integration of WMR into QAMR, a formal proposal for the presentation of a Guidon to the Squadron was withdrawn.

In the 1950s the paper began international distribution and expanded its focus to include major global issues and more social issues. During this time it received numerous awards, with the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and the Associated Collegiate Press consistently recognized its excellence. In the 1960s, The GUIDON began discussing the possibility of co-education at the University and sought to lessen its domination by elite Filipinos. In the 1970s, the paper involved itself in national issues, with issues 38 and 39 being published as Ang Pandayan (English: The Foundry).
During this time, the paper's Editorial Board became increasing politically divided, leading to the publication of two versions of The GUIDON. Both versions of the paper were temporarily shut down by the martial law declaration of Ferdinand Marcos, eventually resuming publication as a single newspaper in 1973. The same year women were admitted to the University for the first time, with Chao Chuatico becoming the paper's first female editor-in-chief. After the assassination of Benigno Aquino Jr. in 1983, the paper increased its coverage of national issues.
In the 1990s The GUIDON editorial team began using modern computer technology to create its newspapers and began splitting them into two sections. During this time the paper renamed its Research Department to the "Inquiry Team" and created an outreach program called Pamaskong Handog. The newspaper also expanded to include the Operations, Human Resources, and Marketing positions and increased its involvement in University legislation, proposing amendments to the Campus Journalism Act of 1991. In 2003 the newspaper renamed its Operations position to Externals and created the Human Resources Training and Development Team.
The regiment comprises two squadrons: B Squadron (combat troops) and C&S; Squadron (command and support). On 15 May 1960, the regiment was presented its guidon by Princess Alexandra of Kent at a parade held on the Balmoral Showgrounds in Belfast. On 28 October 1962, a second memorial window was unveiled in Belfast City Hall to commemorate the fallen of the 2nd World War. This was placed beside the World War I window. It was unveiled by General Dawnay and dedicated by the Archdeacon of Raphoe, the Reverend Louis Crooks (Regimental Chaplain), who himself was a veteran of World War II with the 9th (Londonderry) HAA Regiment.
The battle flag of the Pee Dee Light Artillery was never surrendered. Instead, it was wrapped around the body of the battery guidon bearer, Private R.C. Nettles who returned to South Carolina. The battle flag remained in the hands of the members of the Pee Dee Light Artillery in the Darlington area until 1905, when it was turned over to the South Carolina Legislature by surviving veterans. The flag has recently been preserved and remains today in the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum in Columbia, South Carolina.
In the United States armed forces, guidons are much more prevalent, with units below battalion size being authorized to use them. In the US Army, these are swallow tailed flags that are 20 in × 27 in, and are in the color of the branch of the service the unit is from, with the branch's insignia the most prominent device. Also on the guidon is included the unit's identifying letter, and the number(s) of its parent unit. War service and campaign streamers are not attached to these guidons, but unit citation streamers can be.
The Guidon. October 2002. In 2003, the Ateneo partnered with Gawad Kalinga in its first formal, university-wide social action program. Also, in response to the typhoons and flooding that devastated most of the Philippine Island of Luzon in November 2004, the Ateneo launched Task Force Noah which has continued to contribute to disaster relief and rehabilitation efforts in areas that include Calatagan in Mindoro and Guinsaugon in Southern Leyte. Niede Guidon was born on the 12 March 1933 in Jaú, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. She moved to São Paulo, where she studied Natural History at the University of São Paulo and, later, worked for the Ipiranga Museum. In 1964, she was targeted by the Brazilian Military Dictatorship, which persecuted and tortured alleged communists' scholars and students. To evade this persecution, she moved to France, where she completed a Ph.D. in prehistory and became a researcher at the CNRS, the French national research center, and a professor at the School of Advanced Studies for the Social Sciences in Paris.
During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, the regiment, then under Lt Col Bipin Chandra Joshi and equipped with T-54 tanks, was part of 1 Independent Armoured Brigade supporting XI Corps in the Western theatre but did not see any action. It was located in the Chhamb corridor during Operation Trident and also participated in Operation Rakshak where the regiment was in a peace-keeping role. The President of India presented a guidon to the regiment in Jammu on 7 April 1991. The regiment has also produced a Chief of the Army Staff, Gen Bipin Chandra Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, ADC.
In 1730, Leclair married for the second time. His new wife was the engraver Louise Roussel, who prepared for printing all his works from Opus 2 onward. Named ordinaire de la musique by Louis XV in 1733, Leclair resigned in 1737 after a clash with Guidon over control of the musique du Roy. Leclair was then engaged by the Princess of Orange – a fine harpsichordist and former student of Handel – and from 1738 until 1743, served three months annually at her court in Leeuwarden, working in The Hague as a private for the remainder of the year.
The heraldic standard, also known as the pendón real, has been, as in other European monarchies, the personal flag of the Spanish monarchs and has been used in events of greater solemnity. It was formed by the elements of the monarch's shield without the exterior adornments and has not recovered since its disappearance in 1931. The royal standard is the personal banner of the monarch. The guidon, of military use, was formed from the reign of Philip II by the same elements of the standard but incorporating the Cross of Burgundy, a fringe and a cordoncillo.
Each company also has a guidon bearer (a freshman or sophomore), who marches in front with the company commander. The top ranks freshmen and sophomores may obtain are cadet corporal and cadet staff sergeant, respectively. The reason there are no cadet second lieutenants in the brigade is due to the fact that some JROTC units promote their juniors to officer rank, and it was decided long ago that no BC senior should be outranked by a junior from another school. Juniors hold all senior NCO ranks, ranging from cadet sergeant first class to cadet command sergeant major (CSM).
Domesday Book #13 (July 1972) The C&CS; published a newsletter called the Domesday Book. Its first issue is dated March 1, 1970; both the first and second issues are only a single page long. As of the third issue, membership stood at only nine persons; circulation of this newsletter would never exceed eighty copies. The fifth issue contained a set of rules called the LGTSA Medieval Miniatures rules which would be expanded and published by Guidon Games as Chainmail in 1971; this being one of the primary predecessors of the original Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game.
Following his return to the United States, he served as curate at St. Anne's Church in Manchester, New Hampshire, and at Immaculate Conception Church in Portsmouth. In 1898 he became chancellor of the Diocese of Manchester and secretary to Bishop Denis Mary Bradley. He was founder and editor of the diocesan newspaper The Guidon. On April 18, 1904, Delany was appointed the second Bishop of Manchester by Pope Pius X. A Standard requires a separate grant by the Lord Lyon and is only made under certain conditions. A Guidon – one-third shorter than a Standard and tapering to a round, unsplit end at the fly. These are assigned by Lord Lyon to individuals who have Supporters to their Arms, and to others who have a following – those in a position of leadership or some official position. A Pennon – a smaller, elongated flag 4 ft long with a pointed, rounded or swallow-tailed end, designed to be displayed on a lance, assigned by Lord Lyon King to an Armiger who applies for one.
The Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky- Korsakov wrote the Flight of the Bumblebee, c. 1900 The orchestral interlude Flight of the Bumblebee was composed (c. 1900) by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. It represents the turning of Prince Guidon into a bumblebee so he can fly away to visit his father, Tsar Saltan, in the opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan, although the music may reflect the flight of a bluebottle rather than a bumblebee. The music inspired Walt Disney to feature a bumblebee in his 1940 animated musical Fantasia and have it sound as if it were flying in all parts of the theater.
Colonel Fry passed the guidon to Lt Col Carl Cox, the first Commander of the 17th, signifying the passing of all legal and operational responsibilities. On 1 April 2013 the 17th Test Squadron was transferred to Air Combat Command under the 53d Wing, located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, which serves as the focal point for the Combat Air Forces in electronic warfare, armament and avionics, chemical defense, reconnaissance, and aircrew training devices.
In 1779, the East India Company started issuing standards to Indian cavalry regiments. In 1800, GGBG was presented with its first Standard by Marquess Wellesley at the conclusion of his Review of the Body Guard. In 1815, the Countess of Moira & Loudon presented a standard to the newly raised squadron. Two more Standards were presented to the newly raised squadrons of the Body Guards in 1844, when the strength of the regiment was highest. Standards were abolished in regiments of Indian Cavalry in 1864 & in 1931, a Guidon was presented to the Body Guards, which was last carried on escorts in 1936.
The original rules for Dungeons & Dragons were published by TSR in 1974, but were limited in scope: the character classes and monsters listed were small in number; and for combat rules, players needed to have a copy of Chainmail, a rulebook for miniatures wargames published by Guidon Games in 1971. Over the next two years, TSR bolstered the original rules with five supplemental books. Greyhawk was the first of these supplements, named after Gary Gygax's home campaign. The 2004 publication 30 Years of Adventure: A Celebration of Dungeons & Dragons suggested that details of Gygax's Greyhawk campaign were published in this booklet.
Separate batteries, troops, and companies of CARS regiments display only those honors they actually earned, not the regimental ones. Campaign participation credit for these guidon-bearing units are displayed by silver bands and decorations streamers. (See ARs 672-5-1, 840-10 and 870-5 for further details.) Personnel wear the distinctive insignia for their regiment and the shoulder sleeve insignia of their division or other tactical organization to which they were assigned. (See AR 670-5 for further details.) The Adjutant General controls the designations of elements to be activated and coordinates his selections with the Center of Military History.
Current guidons are made so that letters and numerals read correctly on both sides. In general, the following Army units are entitled to guidons: lettered companies, troops, and batteries of regiments and separate battalions; separate numbered TO&E; companies; and headquarters elements of groups, brigades, divisions, corps, commands, schools, and similar organizations. Lettered companies (troops and batteries in the cavalry and field artillery respectively) of battalions (squadrons in the cavalry) have guidons displaying the branch insignia, the company letter, and the battalion and regimental numbers. The popular public affection for Watchman I, along with the established tradition, interest and popular feeling of the people of Burton towards him resulted in Watchman II being presented to the Regiment in September 1960. Watchman II was a gift from the town of Burton upon Trent at a civic parade. Watchman II marched at the head of the battalion for the next six years. He was presented to Her Majesty The Queen on the occasion of the Presentation of New Colours to the 6th North Stafford's and 5th South Stafford's, and a Guidon to the Staffordshire Yeomanry at Molineaux in the early 1960s.
Lou Zocchi was one of the first editors for Avalon Hill's magazine, The General, and a regular contributor during its first 11 years of publication. He also playtested such early wargames as Bismark, Afrika Korps, Jutland, Stalingrad, and a number of titles Avalon Hill did not publish. Zocchi was the first U.S. distributor to sell nothing but adventure games. As a board wargame designer, his credits include Luftwaffe, The Battle of Britain, Alien Space, and Flying Tigers, as well as the 3-, 5-, 14-, 24-, and 100-sided die. Zocchi contributed to the series of books by Guidon Games that began in 1971 with Chainmail.
Regimental Guidon of the Otago Mounted Rifle Regiment in First Church of Otago, Dunedin, listing eleven battle honours The Otago Mounted Rifle Regiment was a New Zealand Mounted Regiment formed for service during the Great War. It was formed from units of the Territorial Force consisting of the 5th Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars), the 7th (Southland) Mounted Rifles and the 12th (Otago) Mounted Rifles. They saw service during the Battle of Gallipoli, with the New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade and was later withdrawn to Egypt. They later left the brigade and served in France with the New Zealand Division becoming the only New Zealand Mounted troops to serve in France.
In Germany, Spielmannszug, Tambourkorps and sometimes Trommlerkorps are the names given to the German corps of drums, whether it is a military formation or a civilian formation. The instrumentation of these are, commonly fifes and snare drums (just like the Bundeswehr corps of drums that are attached to the unit military bands), flutes and piccolos, Glockenspiels, Bass drums, cymbals and, on some corps, single and multiple tenor drums, and like their British counterparts, bugles (in several corps). Timpani, vibraphones and marimbas, as well as drum kits, are used in concerts. Sometimes even a Turkish crescent is used to symbolize the band, with a banner or guidon with the ensemble emblem.
As 'Carabiniers' from 1887 the regiment adopted a Dragoon style of uniform, with a blue tunic faced in blue, though the facings were later changed to white, resembling the uniform of the Carabiniers (6th Dragoon Guards) of the Regular Army. The white metal Dragoon helmet carried a white horsehair plume, the blue pantaloons or overalls carried a white stripe, and the shopulder-belt was white leather.Ryan. US Signal Corps guidon features wig-wag flags In the 1850s, U.S. Army Major Albert J. Myer, a surgeon by training, developed a system using left or right movements of a flag (or torch or lantern at night). Myer's system used a single flag, waved back and forth in a binary code conceptually similar to the Morse code of dots and dashes. This is sometimes called the wig-wag method of signaling, or "wig- wagging". More mobile than previous means of optical telegraphy, as it only required one flag, this code was used extensively by Signal Corps troops on both sides in the American Civil War.
Guidon of the 586th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron The 586th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron (ESFS) was a United States Air Force Security Forces Squadron that served in combat as an “In Lieu Of” request for forces agreement between the United States Air Force and the United States Army. The 586th was one of the most decorated Security Forces Squadrons during the Iraq War for its time, serving from 2 March 2005 to 22 December 2008. The 586th became the first combat Security Forces unit to lose a member during the Global War on Terror when A1C Elizabeth Jacobson was killed in action 28 September 2005 near Safwan, Iraq.
The Regiment should thenceforth have rallied around a cavalry guidon, but continued to serve under its old white regimental colours from infantry days, in the form of the flag it had received in 1924. During the years that followed the end of World War II, the Regiment took part in training exercises for a war in Europe against the Soviet Union. This was the start of the Cold War and relations between East and West were tense. It was against this background that, when Communist North Korea invaded South Korea, Canada agreed to send a contingent to serve as part of the UN Forces.
The heraldic flag types used in the GNR are the flag to be flown (bandeira de arvorar), the standard (estandarte), the guidon (guião), the pennant (flâmula) for sub-units, the pennant for vessels and the distinctive flag (galhardete). The flags, the standards, the guidons and the pennants for sub-units follow the model of the Army's respective flags, standards for independent bodies, standards for battalions and pennants. The GNR's own standard is larger, 1 m × 1 m. The pennants for vessels are triangular flags and include near the staff the heraldic symbol of the Coastal Control Unit, and near the fly the symbol of the vessel.
Hardtack (1971) Hardtack is a set of rules for American Civil War miniature wargaming by Lou Zocchi. It was published as a thirty-page pamphlet by Guidon Games in 1971, with an introduction by Gary Gygax and artwork by Don Lowry. Hardtack was the first set of American Civil War rules published in the United States and had an early following. Though it had been supplanted by Scott Bowden's Stars and Bars and John Hill's Johnny Reb 3 by the end of the decade and now is seldom played at wargaming conventions, Hardtack is considered groundbreaking, ushering in an era of Civil War miniature wargaming in the United States.

Don Lowry is a wargamer, businessman, illustrator, and game designer who is best known as the publisher of Chainmail and the editor of Panzerfaust Magazine. Lowry was active in the International Federation of Wargaming in the late 1960s and ran a mail order business called "Lowry's Hobbies" with his wife Julie. In 1970 he produced a supplement to the Avalon Hill game Battle of the Bulge called Operation Greif which was distributed via the IFW newsletter. In 1971 he started a publishing imprint called Guidon Games which produced rulebooks for miniature wargaming and board wargames, and he tapped Gary Gygax to serve as editor.

Fleet Marine Forces units have "FMF" emblazoned above the Marine Emblem, non infantry and artillery reserve units display "USMCR," while all infantry, artillery, and active units carry a "USMC". The regimental-level numeral will be displayed in the lower left corner, unless a higher or lower command numeral provides better identification (for example, a battalion HQ company would display the battalion's numeral instead of the regiment). The company level designation letter, abbreviated title, or number will be in the lower right corner. Charlie Company 1st Battalion 7th Marines "Suicide Charley" is one of the only units authorized a second guidon in the United States Marine Corps.
With the increased dispersion of troops required in the light cavalry role, their operational function had ceased by the 1830s and they were discontinued. The regiment's kettledrums, with the battle honours woven onto the drum banners (with the exception of 3rd The King's Own Hussars and its successors, where they are uncovered, with the battle honours engraved onto the kettledrums themselves) became the focal point of the regiment's loyalty. In 1952 King George VI reintroduced the guidons of the light cavalry for ceremonial purposes. Both the standard and the guidon are usually of crimson trimmed in gold and with the regiment's insignia in the centre.

This is more than the total number of combined titles in men's, women's, and juniors' divisions held by the University of Santo Tomas, which has 42 (40 UAAP and 2 NCAA), San Beda College, which has 45 NCAA titles, Far Eastern University which has 41 titles (40 UAAP titles and 1 NCAA title), Colegio de San Juan de Letran with 29 NCAA titles, De La Salle University, which has 27 (11 in the NCAA and 16 in the UAAP), and Mapúa Institute of Technology with 29 NCAA titles.
The ceremony starts with all units presenting arms at the sound of a bugle call and performing a royal salute, with the playing of the guest anthem and the Marcha Real taking place. Once the regiment is orders arms, 3 senior officers from the guard (a senior commander, a bugler and a guidon bearer) approach the central grandstand to report to the guest and His Majesty the king on the readiness of the regiment for inspection. They then begin their inspection, reviewing the infantry as well as the mounted units. Once the review is complete, a large military parade in the forecourt of the palace is held with the massed bands playing military music as the units march past.

In 1961, the Ayrshire Yeomanry paraded at Culzean Castle and were presented with their First Guidon bearing the Honours which had been hard won. The Ayrshire Yeomanry continued as an independent Regiment until 1969 when, in common with most of the Yeomanry Regiments, it was reduced to a Cadre of just a few men. On 1 April 1971, this cadre gave rise to two new units; B Squadron of the 2nd Armoured Car Regiment, later renamed the Queen's Own Yeomanry, at the former Regimental Headquarters in Ayr and 251 Squadron of 154th (Lowland) Transport Regiment in Irvine with no affiliation to the Ayrshire Yeomanry lineage. In 1992, the Squadron was transferred to the newly formed Scottish Yeomanry.

This action resulted in the award of two more Medals of Honor, to 1SG Charles Taylor of Company D and Lieutenant George H. Morgan of Company K. The year 1883 would see the term company changed to troop in the mounted service and in 1885 the red and white guidon replaced the 1863 stars and stripes pattern adopted at the beginning of the Civil War. In 1885, the regiment was ordered back to Texas, where it remained until 1893. Between 1893–1897, the 3rd Cavalry traveled around the USA engaging in garrison, training, and ceremonial duties in the East and Widwest. In July 1897, the regimental Headquarters and four troops were stationed at Fort Ethan Allen, Vermont, and the rest returned to Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.

The passing of colors, standards, or ensigns from an outgoing commander to an incoming one ensures that the unit and its soldiers is never without official leadership, a continuation of trust, and also signifies an allegiance of soldiers to their unit's commander.
In 1969 Arneson was a history student at the University of Minnesota and working part-time as a security guard. He attended the second Gen Con gaming convention in August 1969 (at which time wargaming was still the primary focus) and it was at this event that he met Gary Gygax, who had founded the Castle & Crusade Society within the International Federation of Wargamers in the 1960s at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, not far from Arneson's home in Minnesota. Arneson and Gygax also shared an interest in sailing ship games and they co-authored the Don't Give Up the Ship naval battle rules, serialized from June 1971 and later published as a single volume in 1972 by Guidon Games with a revised edition by TSR, Inc. in 1975.
The regiment continues to contribute soldiers to the NATO mission in Afghanistan, usually attached to Lord Strathcona's Horse or the Royal Canadian Dragoons, operating the Leopard C2, Leopard 2A6 or Coyote Reconnaissance Vehicle. In 2004, the regiment retired its Iltis Jeeps, receiving the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon Light Utility Vehicle, Wheeled, in the C&R; (command and reconnaissance) version. Burgess Model H No. 26 at North Island California. 1915 1st Aero Squadron Standard – 1913. This is believed to be the original Standard (guidon) ordered for the US 1st Aero Squadron. The Chief Signal officer approved a table of organization for the unit on 7 January 1914, consisting of two companies of eight officers and 45 enlisted men each, and eight aircraft. At the time of its formation, 1st Company consisted of Burgess Model H tractors S.C. No. 9, 24, 25, and 26; while 2nd Company consisted of Curtiss aircraft S.C. No. 2 (a Curtiss Model D), 6 (Curtiss Model E), 22 (Curtiss Model G) and 23 (an aircraft assembled from spare parts for the Curtiss E). The initial composition of the squadron was short three pilots.
