Five regiments, led by Justin McCarthy, Viscount Mountcashel formed the nucleus of Mountcashel's French Irish Brigade. A year later, after the Irish Jacobites under Patrick Sarsfield agreed to favorable peace terms and capitulated at the Treaty of Limerick in 1691, the fully armed and equipped Irish Army withdrew to France. There were a few lands in southern Oregon already owned by feminist lesbians, and some where women lived together collectively but did not own the land. Elsie Zimmern helped found the Nursery Training School at Golders Green, and was its Honorary Secretary and Warden from 1911 to 1923. She became active in the National Council of Women, acting as Organizing Secretary of the NCW's Maternity and Child Welfare Committee from 1917 to 1928. From 1925 to 1930 she was the General Secretary of the International Council of Women, resigning when the ICW headquarters moved from London, as she could not leave her ill mother. Lady Aberdeen introduced Zimmern to Madge Robertson Watt in 1928, and together they founded a new organization, the Associated Countrywomen of the World.

At her next JGP event, 2019 JGP Poland, she finished second overall behind American skater Alysa Liu and qualified the final spot to the 2019–20 Junior Grand Prix Final. At the Junior Grand Prix Final, Vasilieva set a new personal best in the short program, but ultimately finished 6th overall. Ongoing joint problems prevented her from competing at both the junior and senior national championships, as well as the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics.

Attacks on slavery in the United States were considered "wanton and intolerable provocation". In 1845 John Blake Dillon reported to Thomas Davis "everybody was indignant at O’Connell meddling in the business": "Such talk" was "supremely disgusting to the Americans, and to every man of honour and spirit". In the United States Bishop John Hughes of New York urged Irish Americans not to sign O'Connell's abolitionist petition ("An Address of the People of Ireland to their Countrymen and Countrywomen in America") lest they further inflame anti-Irish nativist sentiment. O'Connell was entirely undaunted: crowds gathered to hear him on Repeal were regularly treated to excursions on the evils of human traffic and bondage.

At the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth, Western Australia, Kilborn became one of the stars of the Games, upsetting world-record holder Betty Moore in the 80 m hurdles race before winning the long jump contest ahead of two countrywomen Helen Frith (silver) and Janet Knee (bronze). Two years later, at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, she won the bronze medal behind Karin Balzer (gold) and Teresa Ciepły (silver) after having equalled the Olympic record in the semi-final. Soon after the Games, on 5 October 1964, she equalled the World Record for 80 m Hurdles, running 10.5 in Tokyo. On 6 February 1965 in Melbourne, she bettered her record with a 10.4 time.

Beyond the difficulties of her travels to many continents and countries, some of her expeditions involved the kind of extra difficulty that would come to be characterised in later times as "adventure travel". For example, she went camping in 1898 in the Yosemite Valley in America to regain her strength for more travel; she rode horseback through the Australian bush to the Jenolan Caves before going underground to explore them; and she defied convention by going down a coal-mine. Her reports and involvement were also unusual because of her strong declared interest in the position of women everywhere. She pointed out that only a short time previously, some of her own countrywomen had had to be released from slavery and 'elevated to the dignity of womanhood'.

These defeats suggest that she quickly runs out of steam after giving it all in the first set, thereby allowing her opponent to regroup and eventually pocket the contest. The same week, she defeated Sun Tiantian to qualify for a $50k evment at Modena, and in the main draw ousted Yulia Beygelzimer and Adriana Serra Zanetti en route to a quarterfinal loss. In September, she qualified for another WTA event, the Japan Open, and defeated Ashley Harkleroad in round two before losing, on this occasion, to Zheng Jie in the quarterfinals. In December, she reached the semifinal of a $50k tournament for the second time in the year, beating Tzipora Obziler in the quarterfinal at Changsha before losing to another of her prominent countrywomen, Peng Shuai.

She was actively involved in the national women's associations of the day, including Maendeleo ya Wanawake and the National Council of Women of Kenya, and utilized her contacts with international movements such as Countrywomen of the World, International Council of Women, Women Presbyterians of Canada, and the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA). These organizations united women of different races and religious inclinations to combine their efforts to advance the cause of girls and women. In 1964, she became the President of the National Council of Women of Kenya and began to travel widely, addressing conferences and seminars throughout the world on women's roles in nation-building. She attended Women's International Conferences in Vienna in 1962, Washington in 1963, Israel in 1964 and London in 1965.

Specializing in women's doubles, Tang earned a bronze medal at the 1995 IBF World Championships and a silver medal at the 1997 IBF World Championships with her regular partner, Qin Yiyuan. Tang and Qin were also bronze medalists at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, yet they were overshadowed by fellow countrywomen Ge Fei and Gu Jun, the dominant women's doubles team of the day, who took gold at the latter two events. Tang won women's doubles at the 1995 Canadian Open in an unusual partnership with South Korea's Gil Young-ah (as players on the Chinese national squad rarely partner with foreign players). Tang and Qin won women's doubles at the 1997 Thailand Open and played together on the Chinese team that reclaimed the Uber Cup (women's world team championship trophy) from Indonesia in 1998.

The Women's Institute mission and goals appealed to them, so the women of these countries joined together under the auspices of the Associated Countrywomen of the World and spread the movement around the world. Madge was a visionary who believed that women could, and should, show leadership and help other women realize their potential for good. She did not claim to be the sole founder of the Associated Country Women of the World nor a founder of the Women's Institutes. She was a good communicator and had a strong personality that tended to outshine other members at certain times. The work of the ACWW would never have progressed as it has without many important contributions to its foundation, such as those made by Mrs Godfrey Drage (Finance) and Miss Elsie Zimmern (Secretary) from 1927 on.

According to Chrétien, in 1842 they were producing four types of fabric: farmers' sheets and Cadiz sheets made from local wool were supplied to the cantons of Briouze and Putanges and the region around Domfront; sheets from wool and cotton striped in various colours, called Saint-Lô; and a coloured fabric on cotton thread, called African, which adorned the countrywomen of the cantons of Ecouché, Briouze, Carrouges, Mortrée, Argentan and Trun. Chrétien mentions a mechanical spinning-mill employing 40 men, 20 children and 5 spinsters, plus 3 tanneries and 2 tawers (leather-dressers). These products were offered for sale in Great Hall in the Market Place. Écouché market The people of Écouché are business-minded and their pugnacity, well known in the region, earned them some nicknames considered not very flattering.

She also impressed in qualifying for Doha, Qatar in February, with wins over Yan Zi and Tatiana Poutchek; but Maria Kirilenko, now ranked in the world top 30, once again proved the more capable player as they met in the first round of the main draw, defeating Li Ting in straight sets. Her ranking had slipped to 209 by the end of the month; but she has proven that she is capable of competing with players of top 100 calibre, and provided that she herself has the will to persist, tennis supporters can confidently expect to see plenty more fireworks from this talented 26-year-old doubles specialist in singles events before she calls time on her career. In 2007, Li stopped partnering with fellow countrywomen Sun Tiantian, to make room for a new Chinese doubles player, Sun Shengnan was paired with Sun Tiantian, according to the 2007 Australian Open website.

When the land was subdivided in 1950, one lot was sold to Peter William Fels, a relative of Brasch. With the season's excellent results propelling her rapidly upwards in the rankings, she gained direct entry into her first Grand Slam main draw at Wimbledon (though without match-wins to show for it), but narrowly missed the cut at the US Open, losing a close battle in the first round of qualifying to Russian Anastasia Rodionova. But the emerging Chinese star persisted in trying her hand at other WTA Tour events, and worked her way to considerable success at Cincinnati in August, defeating some high-class opponents in Stéphanie Foretz, Jill Craybas and Alina Jidkova to reach her first WTA Tour quarterfinal, before losing to top-20 player Vera Zvonareva. A second quarterfinal performance followed at Guangzhou in September, after she virtually blew French star Marion Bartoli off the court for the loss of just one game in round two, only to be ousted in turn herself by countrywoman Li Ting. The year ended on a further high note for Peng, as she won her second $50k title and eighth overall career ITF singles title in November (Shenzhen 2), with impressive victories over her countrywomen Sun Tiantian and Zheng Jie.

In 1904 she wrote describing the early days of her work at Lady Muir College telling how teaching was given in Hindustani, the one common language amongst students from 'widely different races and antecedents'. She was 'intensely interested to watch the development of these girls' whose commitment to intellectual pursuits were an 'encouragement for the future' and the students' 'fellow- countrywomen'.Girton College Review, May 1904 On her return to England she worked for the Student Christian Movement.
