The Mohs scale of mineral hardness is a non-linear scale of common minerals' resistances to scratching. Diamond is at the top of this scale (hardness 10), as it is one of the hardest naturally occurring materials known. (Some artificial substances, such as aggregated diamond nanorods, are harder.) The Upper Drukpa () was founded Tsangpa Gyare's disciple Götsangpa Gönpo Dorjé (, 1189-1258), a highly realized yogi who had many disciples. His main disciples were Orgyenpa Rinchenpel (, 1230—1309), Yanggönpa (), Chilkarpa () and Neringpa. Orgyenpa, who was also a disciple of Karma Pakshi, 2nd Karmapa Lama, became a great siddha who traveled to Bodhgaya, Jalandhar, Oddiyana and China. In Oddiyana he received teachings related to the Six Branch Yoga of the Kalachakra system known as the "Approach and Attainment of the Three Adamantine States" () and, after returning to Tibet, founded the Orgyen Nyendrup tradition and wrote many works including a famous guide to the land of Oddiyana.

The idea for the Museum of Modern Art was developed in 1929 primarily by Abby Aldrich Rockefeller (wife of John D. Rockefeller, Jr.) and two of her friends, Lillie P. Bliss and Mary Quinn Sullivan. Ven. Taixu on his study of the Brahmajala Sutra and the Mahayana Yoga of the Adamantine Sea Mañjuśrī Thousand Arms Thousand Bowls Great King of Tantra noted many similarities between the two and therefore the Brahmajala Sutra must have been translated from Sanskrit. Qu Dacheng states that the Brahmajala Sutra whilst not translated by Kumārajīva is unlikely to be apocryphal. Of special interest, Qu notes some of the Brahmajala Sutra's Ten Bodhisattva Bhūmi matches the Mahāvastu, an early Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit Mahayana text never translated into Chinese.

The high refractive index gives an adamantine luster and strong refraction that leads to a diamond-like appearance. The near-colorless diamond substitute is sold as "Titania", which is the old-fashioned chemical name for this oxide. Due to the scarcity of natural gem- quality scheelite, synthetic scheelite is much more likely to simulate it than diamond. A similar case is the orthorhombic carbonate cerussite, which is so fragile (very brittle with four directions of good cleavage) and soft (hardness 3.5) that it is never seen set in jewelry, and only occasionally seen in gem collections because it is so difficult to cut. Cerussite gems have an adamantine luster, high RI (1.804–2.078), and high dispersion (0.051), making them attractive and valued collector's pieces. In 1991, historical changes occurred in the political and economic situation in all the former USSR countries, including Latvia. These changes affected also the operation of Olaine Chemical-Pharmaceutical Plant; therefore, a decision was made to develop the strongest lines of synthesis (adamantine, quinuclidinone, and other derivatives) for selling products to Western countries. State enterprise Olaine Chemical-Pharmaceutical Plant was privatized in 1997. As a result of the privatization, the enterprise was reorganized into the joint stock company Olainfarm, and its shares were listed on the secondary list of Riga Stock Exchange. In 2001, after successful audits conducted by such well-known companies as Cilag (Switzerland), Johnson & Johnson (USA) and Sanofi (France), the Company entered the global market as its actual participant in production of active chemical ingredients.

Cervandonite- (Ce) has a monoclinic cell with Z=6. The monoclinic structure was refined as a trigonal subcell using 411 reflections with I > 2σ (I), R1=0.320, wR2=0.0887. The R- centered cell can be transformed with, a 6.508 (1), c 18.520 (3) Ǻ, V 679.4(2) Ǻ3, and Z=3. The structure has a space group of R3m, the solution of the cervandonite structure instantly revealed the presence of one eight-coordinated structure, REE-containing M(1) lying on the threefold axis and M(2) which includes Fe, Ti, or Al. The color of the mineral is a black, with transmitted light it will reflect a yellowish, reddish brown to black color. The mineral is brittle, porous, rosettelike aggregate, with adamantine luster, poorest at {001} cleavage, conchoidal fracture with a brownish-black streak,Jambour, J., and Grew, E. The main character originally went through a number of possible names: "Cornelius Chance", "Rupert De'Ath", "Dick Daring", "Dexter Noble", "Aurelian Winton", "Magnus Hawke" and even "Darius Crud" before Sydney Newman settled on Adam Adamant, named after the generic mineral term adamantine, which, since medieval times, has commonly referred to diamond. In the opening episode, "A Vintage Year for Scoundrels", Adam Llewellyn De Vere Adamant—to give him his full name—is a swashbuckling Victorian gentleman adventurer who, in 1902, goes to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend Louise, but is lured into a trap whereupon he is captured and condemned to be frozen forever in a block of ice by his nemesis, the Face, whose identity is concealed behind a leather mask and who speaks in a sinister whispering voice. The Face grants his helpless prisoner one last request, and Adam asks to see Louise; but in his last moments of life before being frozen, Adam learns to his horror that Louise had faked her kidnapping and had been working for the Face all along. Adam is found in 1966, when a building is being knocked down, and he is revived.
