Wimble was born 28 November 1846 at Clerkenwell, London, the thirteenth child (and one of two sons) of Benjamin Wimble and his wife Elizabeth. Benjamin Wimble had pioneered coloured printing ink in England, creating the first supply of red ink to Cambridge University Press. At 21, Wimble travelled to Austria. Suffering poor health, his doctor then suggested a sea voyage and his father paid for him to travel to Australia. He arrived in Melbourne in July 1867.

In 1924 he published an autobiography, Climbing the Ladder. Wimble was an active Freemason and a member of the United Grand Lodge of New South Wales. Wimble died on 3 January 1936 in Artarmon, Sydney.

Wimble wrote to his father suggesting a new market for printers inks in Australia and his father replied by sending fresh supplies and his recipes as well as an ink mill, steam engine and other equipment. Wimble produced his first ink on 4 May 1868 and in doing do claimed that the Melbourne Star newspaper was the first to have been published in Australia with locally manufactured ink. The following year he gained contracts in other states by supplying ink for the printing of South Australian postage stamps.

Clarence Skelton Wimble (22 April 1861 – 28 January 1930) was a South African cricketer who played one Test match in 1892. A right-handed batsman and superior field, Wimble's first-class cricket career comprised just two matches in eleven months. His debut came in a Currie Cup match in 1891 when Kimberley came to the Old Wanderers ground at Johannesburg and defeated Transvaal. In a timeless match lasting seven days, Wimble top-scored for Transvaal in the first innings with 62 and followed with 46 in the second innings. This performance contributed to his selection for South Africa’s sole Test against England in 1891-92, played at Newlands in Cape Town.

The site is of an undetermined age, and appears to have been a part of the Romano-British landscape. In Roman times, Wimble Toot was situated at a crossroads. An alternative interpretation is that the monument is a possible motte built between 1067 and 1069.Prior, p.71.

Hoag won the 1960 and 1963 Langhorne races with another team that wasn't his regular ride. These were with car owner Dave McCredy, as a teammate to Bill Wimble, two-time NASCAR national Sportsman champion.

Some time in the first half of 1827, Parmelia was sold to Joseph Somes, who was also a director of the EIC. For the next year, she operated under charter to the British East India Company, carrying goods and passengers between London and Bengal. Captain John Wimble sailed from the Downs on 19 June 1827, bound for Bengal and Madras. Parmelia arrived at Calcutta on 3 December.

Maidstone Roller Hockey Club had its first practice session at the YMCA, Maidstone on Christmas Eve 1972. Before this time some general skaters from the 'Y' were taken by Dave Brewer to Rochester Casino where they saw Roller Hockey for the first time. Rochester United had a very strong team at that time including Peter Wimble who later gave his name to the Veterans' Cup. Maidstone joined the long-established Kent League and newly formed National League in 1973/74.

Hiretsukan (from the meaning "vicious man" or "despicable person") was an American, New York-based band, that formed in 1998 just outside Washington, D.C., United States. In the following years, they recorded their "Brown Bag" demo, and went out on a few small tours. After a few volatile years which saw several collective moves and incarnations, the group solidified its line-up and relocated to New York City. The current line-up includes Michelle Proffit (vocals), Dave Sanders (guitar, backing vocals), Derek Wimble (bass), and Justin Williams (drums).

On 13 March 1872 he married Harriett Gascoigne, a widow with two children. They had three more children but were later divorced. There were to be three children of the marriage, which ended in divorce. Between 1876 and 1878 he traveled to the United States of America and Britain in an effort to secure new printing contracts and when he returned to Australia he moved his company to Sydney. By 1883, Wimble had had enough of the printing business and moved to Queensland hoping to become a "sugar baron".

Castlemaine has many cricket teams in the town itself and the surrounding area. It is also renowned for its mountain bike trails, with a reputedly world-class, newly-developed multi trail walking and cycling facility on the slopes of Mount Alexander at nearly Harcourt. Two golf courses are available; at the Castlemaine Golf Club in the bordering Muckleford region on Newstead Road, and at the course of the Mount Alexander Golf Club on Wimble Street. Castlemaine is also the self-proclaimed Hot Rod centre of Australia with many small businesses catering to this popular form of motor sport at a national level.

The cutting action of the gimlet is slightly different from an auger, however, as the end of the screw, and so the initial hole it makes, is smaller; the cutting edges pare away the wood which is moved out by the spiral sides, falling out through the entry hole. This also pulls the gimlet farther into the hole as it is turned; unlike a bradawl, pressure is not required once the tip has been drawn in. The name "gimlet" comes from the Old French guinbelet, guimbelet, later guibelet, probably a diminutive of the Anglo- French "wimble", a variation of "guimble", from the Middle Low German wiemel, cf. the Scandinavian wammie, to bore or twist.

The radio station in its bid for a full-time permanent licence has proven its ability to successfully operate a long-term community broadcasting service, and has had in this time relocated twice from the former Wimble Street ("Bomb Site") studios to Emily STreet and finally to the King's Park complex. The radio station's outlook has widened, with original intent to simply cover Seymour and Puckapunyal, the radio station has now the established long-term goal to reach the Northern Mitchell Shire and the Strathbogie Shire. This includes the townships of Seymour, Avenel, Nagambie, Broadford, Pyalong, Tallarook, and Euroa. With the long anticipated new transmission facility and increased transmission power granted to the radio station, these areas will be expected to receive excellent coverage and signal strength.
