The positioning of the terrace on an abrupt sandstone plinth formed out the lowering of Cumberland Street almost accidentally raised the building and its wide bare north wall up as a local landmark although the building's north wall has been a local feature since the construction of the terrace. The terrace's former northern neighbour was a single-storey house.

Traditional model of construction of a wall of rammed earth on a foundation Making rammed earth involves compacting a damp mixture of sub soil that has suitable proportions of sand, gravel, clay, and stabilizer, if any into a formwork (an externally supported frame or mold). Historically, additives such as lime or animal blood were used to stabilize it. Soil mix is poured into the formwork to a depth of and then compacted to approximately 50% of its original volume. On its top sits the Castillo de San Juan de las Águilas castle, built in the 18th century on the site of a much older Carthaginian fortification. King Charles I ordered its refurbishment in 1530 to help protect the coast from Turkish and Algerian incursions. The castle in Shkodër (Skadar) and Bojana river The song describes the building of a fortress on the Bojana river at Skadar by the Mrnjavčević brothers (Vukašin, Uglješa and Gojko Mrnjavčević). Karneid Castle Plan 1250-75 View of the outer ward from the east 1250-75 :The Outer Ward :In the 2nd half of the 13th Century, a protective outer wall up to one metre thick is added on the only remaining unprotected side of the castle to the north, creating a narrow outer ward or Zwinger. At the same time a gatehouse is built between the curtain and outer wall in the north east corner and the original entrance is walled up. Access to the keep, bailey and hall is now through the far western side of the curtain wall, making access for an attacker more difficult and dangerous.

The construction consumed 20 million kilowatt hours, while of debris were extracted from the tunnel and the investment was estimated at around 300 million pesetas.
