Chamber ensembles made up of players from the orchestra also play music for Bloomington events and organizations.
To obtain a "Licenciatura" or "Título Profesional" the student is required to write a thesis (usually that developed during their bachelor course), and pass their viva voce. Alternatively, it is possible to complete a written exam and then an oral examination in front of a group of professors (who are registered in the professional college/body of that specific profession). With this last option, it is usually required to have at least one year of professional experience in the relevant field of studies. Therefore, for some professions which used to be called "carreras largas" or long careers (e.g.
One of the greatest assets of the Hall is the Multi-purpose Conference Hall, which was originally constructed as an exclusive prayer room for the residents and for their gathering. The room now serves the entire college community as a classroom for overseas students, a viva-voce exam centre, an alternative chapel and a venue for various celebrations. The Hall Magazine, Saisei (Japanese for ‘A New Beginning’), was introduced during the third year of the Hall by the then Literary and Debating Secretary, Ms Nikhila Sudharma Ajeer. The Hall Library was inaugurated by Pastor Charles during the third year of the Hall.
The BYU Women's Chorus is made up of about 160 singers and performs a large number of concerts throughout the year. Formerly conducted by a number of different faculty and graduate students, since 2004 the choir has been directed by Jean Simons Applonie, who also founded and conducted the Utah-based women's choir Viva Voce. When Applonie became the director of the Women's Choirs in 2004 she became the first faculty member to serve as its director. In 2008, the choir released its first solo recording "Wondrous Love" and has appeared on several albums featuring the combined choirs.
Eleanor Jourdain Eleanor Frances Jourdain (16 November 1863 – 6 April 1924) was an English academic and author, and Principal of St Hugh's College, Oxford, 1915 to 1924. In 1886, she became the first woman to sit at Oxford for a viva voce examination in modern history. Raised as a High Anglican, she also had interests in mysticism. She rose to fame following a claim that she and a fellow teacher, Charlotte Anne Moberly, had slipped back in time to the period of the French Revolution while on a trip to Versailles, known as the Moberly–Jourdain incident.
Magle premiered the work, his Rhapsody for organ Viva Voce, at two gala concerts on 12–14 May 2009 in Aarhus Cathedral and Vangede church, in collaboration with Dame Gillian Weir. The Frobenius-organ in Jørlunde church In October that same year, a new pipe organ was inaugurated in Jørlunde church. Magle created its specifications and tonal design, after the old organ had perished in a fire five years earlier while in storage; he gave the instrument's inauguration concert on 8 November. In 2010 he released a double album of free improvisations on the Jørlunde-organ, Like a Flame.
In Malaysia, the MPhil degree is commonly offered in a number of older and more- established universities in Malaysia, including the University of Malaya, Multimedia University (MMU), Wawasan Open University, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC), Monash University Sunway Campus (MUSC) and Curtin Malaysia Campus. In most cases, the MPhil is largely a research degree, with only a minor taught component. On a case-by-case basis, candidates must pass a viva voce examination before the degree is awarded. For UNMC and MUSC, the Faculty of Engineering offers a standalone MPhil degree which will lead to the PhD.
Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (RONR) states that a voice vote (viva voce) is the usual method of voting on any motion that does not require more than a majority vote for its adoption. It is considered the simplest and quickest of voting methods used by deliberative assemblies. The chair of the assembly will put the question to the assembly, asking first for those in favor of the motion to indicate so verbally ("aye" or "yes"), and then ask those opposed to the motion to indicate so verbally ("no"). The chair will then estimate which side had more members.
The revision was published by Pope Benedict XII on 28 November 1336. This was not the Cardinal's first experience with Franciscan statutes and discipline. He was present on 1 August 1331 along with seven other cardinals (one of whom was Jacques Fournier, the future Benedict XII), when Pope John XXII issued a viva voce precept to two of the ministers of the Franciscan Order that they should observe the Rule of St. Francis, as well as the Constitutions of Nicholas III and Clement V, on the use of money. Fr. Guiral Ot, Minister General of the Franciscans was present and acted as witness.
Democrat Charles A. Rapallo and Republican Charles Andrews were nominated for judges after a viva voce vote almost unanimously, thus endorsing the resolution of the Republican convention that "the Court of Appeals should be removed from politics."CLEVELAND WINS THE DAY;...A VERY QUIET CONVENTION in NYT on June 19, 1884 The Greenback-Labor state convention met on August 30 at Masonic Hall in New York City. While there, Kraepelin wrote a prize-winning essay, "The Influence of Acute Illness in the Causation of Mental Disorders". At Würzburg he completed his Rigorosum (roughly equivalent to an MBBS viva-voce examination) in March 1878, his Staatsexamen (licensing examination) in July 1878, and his Approbation (his license to practice medicine; roughly equivalent to an MBBS) on 9 August 1878. From August 1878 to 1882, he worked with Bernhard von Gudden at the University of Munich. Returning to the University of Leipzig in February 1882, he worked in Wilhelm Heinrich Erb's neurology clinic and in Wundt's psychopharmacology laboratory."Kraepelin, Emil (1856–1926)" by Margaret Alic, Gale Encyclopedia of Psychology, 2001.
Alexandria Gazette, 21, 24 March 1864 After debating whether abolition of slavery would best proceed gradually or at once, with compensation to loyal Union men or without, the Convention resolved to abolish slavery immediately without compensation on April 10, 1864. It abolished the viva voce voting and called for secret balloting for electing state officials. Immediately on its proclamation, the Constitution of 1864 was enforceable only in areas under Union control, but it would serve as Virginia's fundamental law until the Constitution of 1870 went into force.Virginia Convention of 1864, Encyclopedia Virginia A fifty-two-page journal of convention proceedings was published, but the debates were not formally recorded.
In Australia and New Zealand, training is supervised by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, while anaesthetists are represented by the Australian Society of Anaesthetists and the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists. The ANZCA-approved training course encompasses an initial two-year long Pre-vocational Medical Education and Training (PMET) and five years of supervised clinical training at approved training sites. Thus the total training following graduation from medical school is seven years long. Trainees must pass both the primary and final examinations which consist of both written (multiple choice questions and short-answer questions) and, if successful in the written exams, oral examinations (viva voce).

The bed-in performance has since been re-interpreted and re-used in protests by a number of artists since 1969, most notably Marijke van Warmerdam with her gallerist Kees van Gelder at the same Amsterdam Hilton in 1992 and the Centre of Attention in 2005 in Miami. A fictional bed-in protest was also featured in a 2006 Viva Voce music video. In 2010, Liverpool's centre for the contemporary arts, Blue-coat, staged a 62-day event, Bed-in at the Blue-coat, which used Lennon & Ono's event as a template for 62 daily performances by artists, activists, community groups and others to do "something for a better world." Ono gave her blessing and sent a video message.
Beveridge also made note of traditions of another battle fought near Grishipol, in which Iain Garbh and his followers defeated a force led by his step-father Gilleonan, chief of the MacNeils of Barra. Beveridge reasoned that this particular battle against the MacNeils probably took place around 1470-1480; and wondered if there could be some sort of confusion between this conflict with the MacNeils and that of the Norsemen. In 1903, without prior knowledge to Campbell's tradition, Beveridge published another version of the 'Norsemen tradition' quoted above; one in which he had obtained viva voce. According to Beveridge, the events within this version of the tradition were said to have taken place at the precise date of 1384.

Full Time Hobby came into life in 2004, set up by Nigel Adams and Wez. They had met at Mushroom Records / Infectious Records and decided to start a label when it was clear that Mushroom was going to be sell out to Warner Brothers. Inspired by labels like the original Jac Holzman era Elektra Records, Creation Records and Rough Trade Records they wanted to start a label that championed original and creative new music that they loved and did not see finding a home elsewhere. The first release as Full Time Hobby was the EP Alive With Pleasure by Portland, Oregon based duo Viva Voce who went on to release another two albums and a compilation for the label.

On January 5, 1973, Marcos, who had seized legislative power as part of his declaration of martial law, issued Presidential Decree No. 86-A, an addendum to the Revised Barrio Charter (Presidential Decree No. 86) which he had signed in late December to reconstitute Philippine barrios (villages) into a new structure called a "barangay". Presidential Decree No. 86-A cancelled the election plebiscite in which Philippine citizens would have voted whether or not to ratify the new Constitution. Instead, the 1973 Constitution would be ratified using "Citizen's Assemblies". The Constitution was supposedly presented for the people's ratification in the 1973 constitutional plebiscite, where the Citizen's Assemblies supposedly showed their assent through viva voce votation.

In 1524 Jean de Monluc served as an attaché to the French Embassy in Rome. In 1536, now a Protonotary Apostolic, he was again assigned to the Embassy being sent to Rome headed by Bishop Charles Hémard of Mâcon.Reynaud, p. 18. In 1537 Monluc was sent with a personal viva voce message from King Francis I to Pasha Khizir Khayr ad-Dîn (Barberousse), the Captain General of the Ottoman fleet, who was beginning a campaign against the coasts of Italy. In July 1537, the Pasha landed at Otranto and captured the city, as well as the Fortress of Castro and the city of Ugento in Apulia. Monluc set off on 6 August, and a meeting took place with the Pasha on 1 September.
Adrian Reynard (born 23 March 1951 in Welwyn, England) was the founder of Reynard Motorsport, which was a successful racing car manufacturer before it went bankrupt in 2002. As a student, Reynard was keenly interested in motorsport, particularly in the production of record-breaking motorcycles. He attended Oxford Polytechnic (now Oxford Brookes University) and then Cranfield University - in place of the strain gauge he had been expected to present as a final-year project he turned up for his viva voce examination in Mechanical Engineering with a brand new self-designed Formula Ford chassis (which he had to disguise as a Formula Three as he was sponsored by a rival car manufacturer) on a trailer. At Cranfield Reynard was a classmate of Pat Symonds.
The development of Roman law furthered the modern understanding of wills and serves as the foundation to the inheritance law of many European countries, greatly aided later by canon law. The early Roman will differed from the modern will in important respects. It was effectual during the lifetime of the person who made it; it was made in public viva voce; all knew of the legator's intentions, the testator declaring his will in the presence of seven witnesses; and it could not be changedthese they called nuncupative wills; but the danger of trusting the will of the deceased to the memory of the living soon abolished these; and all wills were ordered to be in writing. The objective, as in adoption, was to secure the perpetuation of the family.
She was the daughter of the Austrian jurist Benjamin Possanner, and lived in six different cities until the age of twenty due to him moving often for his work. In October 1880 he was appointed as Section Chief at the Imperial Treasury in Vienna, and the family, including Gabriele, was able to settle in Vienna. As a doctor, Possanner initially worked as a public medical officer in Bosnia- Herzegovina, where Muslim women refused to be seen by male doctors. She had been given a medical degree by the University of Zurich in 1894, but it was not until 1897 that she was able to take the viva voce examination a second time, this time in front of Viennese examiners, thus qualifying her to practice as a doctor in Austria.
But this should be no more astonishing than the inability to determine, in like circumstances, whether one is receiving a telephone message viva voce or only a prerecorded one. Even with unlimited exchanges, the mediation of a computer could be detected only by a user who was more skilled at detecting the programmed nature of the responses than the programmer - not the computer - was at hiding it. As an abacus and a slide rule are tools wherewith the user can perform complex mathematical operations more efficiently than without, though the instruments themselves cannot so much as add one plus one, a computer is a machine for thinking, not a machine that thinks. Evidently, those who fail to perceive the difference disregard the distinction between the activity of thinking and the contents of thought.
Ramsbottom J and Blackwell J concurred in the judgment of Murray AJP, who reiterated that, except in interlocutory matters, it is undesirable to attempt to settle disputes of fact solely on the probabilities disclosed in contradictory affidavits. Where no real dispute of fact exists, there is no reason for incurring the delay and expense involved in a trial action: Motion proceedings in such a case are generally recognised as permissible. Where a dispute of fact is shown to exist, however, the court has a discretion as to the future course of the proceedings. If the dispute of fact cannot properly be determined by viva voce evidence under Rule 9,The calling of evidence under this Rule rests with the court or judge, regardless of whether or not the parties request it.
Canary was a side project of Luxury's guitarist, Jamey Bozeman, and bassist, Chris Foley, during their hiatus from touring and recording. Canary released a full-length album, A Sound of Summer Running, a split EP called Scissors and Blue volume 4. During that time the members of Canary, Luxury, Viva Voce, and Menomena formed The Cut and Paste Collective which released 15+ albums under its umbrella including a compilation CD. Canary also appeared on the Audiolab Records tribute to the Prayer Chain called Salutations, covering the song "Antarctica" in the fall of 2002. When Foley left Canary to attend St. Vladimir's Orthodox Seminary, Jordan Thomae (Locust Years) joined Jamey Bozeman (Luxury, The Barbie Stickers), Aaron Baber (Buzztown, John Doe Nation), and Doug Andrews (Fae Rae, Mantastic) to form They Sang As They Slew.
Kincaid, Introduction, p. cxxxvi, in Buck, History (1979) Before that, the work had suffered more serious damage, coming into the hands of Buck's great-nephew, George Buck, who used it as he did others of Buck's works: he produced manuscript copies that he dedicated to various patrons from whom he sought advancement, passing them off as his own. Gradually he altered the History, cutting it, making it look like something written in his own time, rather than earlier, by deleting names of Buck's learned contemporaries who had shared sources and viva voce information with him, and altering or deleting documentation of sources, with the details of which, also, his copyist was careless. Finally in 1646 he published a version of the History that was slightly over half the length of the original.
In 1991, he played the mentally disabled but handsome "Marco", who breaks up a romance between characters played by Bruno Ganz and teaming up, once again, with Ornella Muti in the third mysterious short story of La Domenica Specialmente. Muti and Prodan had become friends on the set of 'A Season of Giants', a U.S. mini-series in which he portrayed renaissance painter Raphael, and Muti his muse, Onoria. In 1995, he travelled to Argentina and with the Argentinian post-punk experimental group Las Pelotas supported The Rolling Stones in his first visit to this country in River Plate Stadium, and with Felix Valls at the console, recorded "Viva Voce", a record in which he impersonates all the instruments, using nothing but his voice. The disc received warm reviews and the musician Peter Gabriel called it his favourite record of the year.
One of the requirements for certain advanced degrees is often an oral examination (called a viva voce examination or just viva in the UK and certain other English-speaking countries). This examination normally occurs after the dissertation is finished but before it is submitted to the university, and may comprise a presentation (often public) by the student and questions posed by an examining committee or jury. In North America, an initial oral examination in the field of specialization may take place just before the student settles down to work on the dissertation. An additional oral exam may take place after the dissertation is completed and is known as a thesis defense or dissertation defense, which at some universities may be a mere formality and at others may result in the student being required to make significant revisions.

Notwithstanding many PhD by Publication programs require a viva voce, and the submission of a formal thesis. According to the University of Brighton, "while the traditional route to a PhD remains suitable for those at the start of their research careers, the PhD by publication offers distinct advantages for those who are well established in their research careers but who have not had the opportunity to complete a conventional PhD". The PhD by publication may involve either the demonstration of work previously published prior to application to the program, or the achievement of publications during the period of enrollment, or some combination of the two. In a 2018 study, it was found that recent doctorates awarded by publication in Australia involved the publication of an average of 4.5 journal articles, though some were awarded with as few as one article published, and others with as many as twelve.
On 25 June 1851, following a dispute among the teaching staff, the school was formally dissolved and the lecturers split into two rival institutions. The majority formed the Newcastle College of Medicine, and the others established themselves as the Newcastle upon Tyne College of Medicine and Practical Science. In July 1851 the majority college was recognised by the Society of Apothecaries and in October by the Royal College of Surgeons of England and in January 1852 was approved by the University of London to submit its students for London medical degree examinations. Later in 1852, the majority college was formally linked to the University of Durham, becoming the "Newcastle-upon-Tyne College of Medicine in connection with the University of Durham". The college awarded its first 'Licence in Medicine' (LicMed) under the auspices of the University of Durham in 1856, with external examiners from Oxford and London, becoming the first medical examining body on the United Kingdom to institute practical examinations alongside written and viva voce examinations.
