Reptiles, amphibians and mammals are also present, sometimes in quite large numbers. Mammals include, dingoes, wallabies, possums, foxes, feral cattle and wild pigs. Wild pigs sometimes reach such large numbers that they have to be culled. Reptiles are represented by numerous species of snakes, with the brown snake, death adder and the taipan being the three most dangerous.

The head of the coastal taipan is long and narrow like that of the African black mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis), but without the "coffin" shape. The two species are strongly convergent in several aspects of morphology, ecology and behaviour. O. scutellatus has an angular brow and is lighter-coloured on the face. The body is slender and colouration can vary.
Its two major waterslides are the Boomerango and the Taipan. The park also features a lazy river ride, giant water playground, wave simulator, fun-for-all roller coaster, tree swing, train ride, dodgem cars, and a berry twirl ride for young children. Newbigging was involved in the struggle against the Keswick family when he and his supporters opposed Henry Keswick to become the next taipan in 1972. The Keswicks prevailed after winning the support of institutional shareholders in London. Henry was named senior managing director, while his uncle John resumed the chairmanship to ensure that the Keswicks did not lose control of the company.
Newbigging was criticised for being too conservative and placing too much emphasis on local and regional operations. Keswick family also saw it as a chance to remove Newbigging from office. Newbigging finally stepped down as senior managing director in June 1983, but retained the titular position of chairman. He was replaced as taipan by 40-year-old Simon Keswick, brother of Henry Keswick.
Sir John Henry Keswick, KCMG (1906–1982) was an influential Scottish businessman in China and Hong Kong. He was the taipan of the Jardine, Matheson & Co., the leading British trading firm in the Far East, and had established friendship with many Chinese politicians. He was also a representative of the Special Operations Executive, a British intelligence service during the Second World War.
In May 2010, a second specimen of Oxyuranus temporalis was found in the Great Victoria Desert of Western Australia. The adult female taipan measuring in total length was captured by the Spinifex people from the Tjuntjuntjara Aboriginal community during a biological study at Ilkurlka, 165 kilometres west of the South Australian border, 425 kilometres south of the location of the initial discovery.
He returned to Hong Kong to become a partner of the firm in 1862. He became managing partner (Taipan) from 1874 to 1886. He left Hong Kong in 1886 to work with Matheson & Co. in London as a senior director responsible only to Sir Robert Jardine (1825–1905), a son of David Jardine, William Jardine's older brother and the head of Mathesons in London.
Slater was an experienced snake collector and snake milker. In his Papua New Guinea years he supplied the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories with their first samples of Papuan Taipan venom. He also provided all the Papuan black snake venom CSL used to develop and produce an antivenom for the species. This antivenom turned out to be effective for bites of the king brown snake as well.
MTR then subsequently became a target of vandalism after it was accused of kowtowing to Beijing's pressure. On 2 September 2019, People's Daily denounced the Facebook posts of Garic Kwok, the director of Hong Kong mooncake brand Taipan Bread and Cake, for supporting the protests. The next day, products from the brand were removed from both e-commerce sites and stores in mainland China.
A persistent and flamboyant character, he was appointed Taipan of Jardines, replacing Sir John Keswick. During his tenure, he oversaw the incredible growth of the company in Hong Kong and throughout Asia after the devastating war years and continued trade with China. He also served as a director of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation from 1955 to 1959, Vice Chairman from 1960 to 1961.

Retrieved November 15, 2013. Almost all positively identified inland taipan bite victims have been herpetologists handling the snakes for study or snake handlers, such as people who catch snakes to extract their venom, or keepers in wildlife parks. All were treated successfully with antivenom. No recorded incidents have been fatal since the advent of the monovalent (specific) antivenom therapy, though it can take weeks to recover from such a severe bite.
The treatment of choice is an antivenom produced by CSL Ltd in 1956 in Australia on the basis of immunised horse plasma. After being bitten the majority of patients will develop systemic envenoming of which clinical evidence is usually present within two hours. This effect can be delayed by applying first aid measures, like immobilization. Additional to neurotoxins taipan venom contains anticoagulants whose effect is also inhibited by the antivenom.
Considered the world's second-most venomous land snake after the inland taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus), based on its value (subcutaneous) in mice, it is responsible for about 60% of snake-bite deaths in Australia. Its venom's main effects are on the circulatory system—coagulopathy, haemorrhage (bleeding), cardiovascular collapse, and cardiac arrest. One of the main components of the venom is the prothrombinase complex pseutarin-C, which breaks down prothrombin.
Vela Supercluster is estimated to contribute at least 50 km/s (180 000 km/hr) of this bulk movement. The paper reporting the discovery describes the supercluster as "Terra Incognita (Latin "unknown land"), an unknown great continent in the nearby Universe whose outline we are only beginning to discern." More comprehensive surveys in the future (i.e. the Taipan Galaxy Survey) are expected to provide additional data about the supercluster.

Chief Singer stood as a stallion at the Side Hill stud at Newmarket and was later exported to stand at the Hauptgestut Graditz in Germany where he died in 2000. The best of his offspring were the Listed flat race winner Alidiva and the successful National Hunt performer Chief's Song. Alidiva, however, proved to be an exceptional broodmare, producing the Group One winners Sleepytime, Taipan (Preis von Europa, Premio Roma) and Ali- Royal (Sussex Stakes).
A coastal taipan Oxyuranus scutellatus is the world's third-most venomous terrestrial snake. The SC value of this species is 0.106 mg/kg, according to Australian Venom and Toxin database, and 0.12 mg/kg, according to Engelmann and Obst (1981). The average venom yield per bite is 120 mg, with a maximum record of 400 mg. Its venom contains primarily taicatoxin, a highly potent neurotoxin affecting the nervous system and the blood's ability to clot.
Alidiva became a very successful broodmare, producing the Group One winners Taipan (Preis von Europa, Premio Roma) and Ali-Royal's full-sister Sleepytime. As a descendant of the broodmare Bourtai, Alidiva came from the same branch of Thoroughbred family 9-f which produced Big Spruce and Coastal. During his racing career, Ali-Royal carried the colours of Wacker's Greenbay Stables and was trained by Henry Cecil at the Warren Place Stable in Newmarket, Suffolk.
The diets of hatchlings and juveniles often consist mostly of insects and small lizards, but generally varies more with age. Adult monitors will prey on mice, small birds, large insects, small lizard species, snakes, and carrion. They are seemingly immune to snake venom and will kill and eat even the most venomous species such as the Inland taipan. The sand goanna does consume smaller species of monitors: Ackies, rock monitors and other dwarf species are often found and eaten.
The common name, taipan, was coined by anthropologist Donald Thomson after the word used by the Wik-Mungkan Aboriginal people of central Cape York Peninsula, Queensland, Australia.Sutton, Peter (1995). Wik Ngathan Dictionary. The genus name is from Greek oxys (sharp, needle-like) and ouranos (an arch, specifically the arch of the heavens), and refers to the needle-like anterior process on the arch of the palate, which Kinghorn noted separated the genus from all other elapids.
An Australian Army NHI MRH-90 Tiger helicopter The MRH 90 Taipan (Multi Role Helicopter 90, an Australian variant of the NHI NH90). The aircraft are designed for use in a troop-lift role. The first test flight of an MRH-90 was conducted at Eurocopter's flight test centre in Marignane, France on 28 March 2007. The first 13 of the total of 46 helicopters were delivered when the remaining aircraft were suspended until issues had been resolved.
The coastal taipan is primarily diurnal, being mostly active in the early to mid-morning period, although it may become nocturnal in hot weather conditions. When hunting, it appears to actively scan for prey using its well-developed eyesight, and is often seen traveling with its head raised slightly above ground level. Once prey is detected, the snake "freezes" before hurling itself forward and issuing several quick bites. The prey is released and allowed to stagger away.

The inland taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus) is considered the most venomous snake in the world with a murine value of 0.025 mg/kg SC. Ernst and Zug et al. 1996 list a value of 0.01 mg/kg SC, which makes it the most venomous snake in the world in their study too. They have an average venom yield of 44 mg. Bites from this species have a mortality rate of 80% if left untreated, although it is very rare for this species to bite.
After the war, Wen and his elder brother came back to Hong Kong to live with their grandmother who was the chief cook of an English taipan family. Prior to becoming "Taipan", Weatherall was chief executive officer of Hongkong Land.
When the mouth is closed, the fangs fit into grooved slots in the buccal floor and usually below the front edge of the eye and are angled backwards; some elapids (Acanthophis, taipan, mamba, and king cobra) have long fangs on quite mobile maxillae and can make fast strikes. A few species are capable of spraying their venom from forward-facing holes in their fangs for defense, as exemplified by spitting cobras. Venom may cause intense pain, if not blindness, upon contact with eyes.
The venom of the Papuan black snake is the most potent of all members of the black snake genus Pseudechis. Unlike those of other black snakes, the venom is predominantly neurotoxic in its effects, with muscle weakness and paralysis ensuing within 2 to 21 hours of being bitten. This can be life-threatening and intubation may be required. It is slightly more toxic than the equatorial spitting cobra (Naja sumatrana) and three times less toxic than that of the taipan (Oxyuranus scutellatus).
Some local people in New Guinea believe it and the taipan to be opposite sexes of the same species. The Kiwai people believe the snake to be an agent of a magic-man known as Ove- devenor who sends it to kill enemies. People bitten will often seek out another magic-man instead of going to a hospital, thus dangerously delaying treatment. The first to extract Papuan black snake venom for scientific purposes was Australian herpetologist Ken Slater in the mid-1950s.
Brown-coloured (winter) Olive-coloured (summer) The inland taipan is dark tan, ranging from a rich, dark hue to a brownish light-green, depending on season. Its back, sides and tail may be different shades of brown and grey, with many scales having a wide blackish edge. These dark-marked scales occur in diagonal rows so that the marks align to form broken chevrons of variable length that are inclined backward and downward. The lowermost lateral scales often have an anterior yellow edge.

When Newbigging took over Henry Keswick as the Jardine taipan in 1975, the company was undergoing a rapid decline in power and wealth. Between 1975 and 1979, Jardine Matheson's profits grew at an annual rate of only 10 percent (a poor record for Hong Kong). Newbigging responded by disposing of underperforming Jardine subsidiaries outside Hong Kong. He redoubled efforts to increase trade with China (which had only invited the company back into China in 1979) and resumed investments in Hong Kong-based enterprises.
He was the co-founder of the Hong Kong Country Club with his Legislative Council colleagues, estate developer Richard Charles Lee and Jardine taipan Hugh Barton and was its first chairman. Born and raised in Shanghai, he spoke fluent Shanghainese but was not good at Cantonese. To excel in the speech, he started learning Cantonese with his secretary and granddaughter. On 28 June 1981, Wong died of a sudden heart attack when he was watching TV at home, aged 70.

The story of Budden and his sacrifice spurred efforts to capture other snakes and produce more antivenoms, including Brown snake in 1956, death adder in 1958, Papuan black snake in 1961: Sea snake in 1962, and polyvalent snake antivenom in 1962. In a 2014 article published in the Journal of Proteomics, University of Queensland venomologist Bryan Fry reported finding specimens of the venom harvested from the taipan that killed Budden. His study found that the venom had retained its toxicity after almost sixty years in dry storage.
The Trion Nemesis RR has been featured in Asphalt 8, CSR Racing and Asphalt 9. In GTA Online, the fictitious Cheval Taipan has design cues based on both the Hennessey Venom F5 and Trion Nemesis. In addition, in the same game, the fictional Itali GTB takes design cues from the Trion Nemesis and the McLaren 570S. The Nemesis RR was unveiled at the Silicon Valley Auto Show in January 2016, and for a brief time, was featured on the front page of the show's website.
The coastal taipan can be found in a variety of different habitats. It can be found in warm, wetter temperate to tropical coastal regions, in monsoon forests, wet and dry sclerophyll forests and woodlands, and in natural and artificial grassy areas, including grazing paddocks and disused rubbish tips. In Queensland, it has adapted well to sugarcane fields, where it thrives on the rodent population in the fields. In Far North Queensland in the Cape York Peninsula, it is usually found in open woodland areas.
Gibbs wants the team to keep looking while he joins Agent Todd aboard Air Force One. Later, another senior officer revealed to be Marine Major Timothy Kerry, is found dead in his car in Georgetown with similar symptoms to those of Commander Trapp. NCIS Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto is able to find DMSO and snake venom from an Australian Taipan on both Commander Trapp and Major Kerry's uniforms, which could explain why they died. DiNozzo investigates both of them, finding out that Trapp and Kerry used the same dry cleaner.
Specific antivenom raised against Australian taipan venom was effective in stopping spontaneous systemic bleeding and restoring blood coagulability but, in most cases, it neither reversed nor prevented the evolution of paralysis even when given within a few hours of the bite. However, early antivenom treatment was associated statistically with decreased incidence and severity of neurotoxic signs. The low case fatality rate of 4.3% is attributable mainly to the use of mechanical ventilation, a technique rarely available in Papua New Guinea. Earlier use of increased doses of antivenoms of improved specificity might prove more effective.
Buckley was immersed in music and, when not working on his own material or with his band, he contributed numerous times to projects with his friends and musical peers. John Zorn regularly held collaborations at the Knitting Factory, and Buckley performed vocals on the tracks "Taipan" and "D.Popylepis" that appeared on 1992 album John Zorn's Cobra: Live at the Knitting Factory. Buckley contributed vocals on "Jolly Street" from The Jazz Passengers' 1994 album In Love, and he played six string bass and drums on tracks from his ex-girlfriend Rebecca Moore's album Admiral Charcoal's Song.

Aerial reconnaissance showed that pirates were indeed on board the merchant ship, and showed their two skiffs in tow behind it. As Tromp approached, its sailors spotted a pirate mother ship heading towards Taipan, probably to bring in reinforcements. After a radio warning received no response, Tromp fired several warning shots at the mother ship, which then turned around and fled the scene. All attempts at negotiation failed, and when it became clear that the pirates intended on resisting, it was decided to free the ship by force.
On 20 November 2009, the Squadron handed the King Air over to the RAAF. The Kiowa had been retired on 26 October 2009 from the 1st Aviation Regiment.
A postsynaptic neurotoxin isolated has been given the name of papuantoxin-1, and can be treated with CSL black snake antivenom (used for the king brown snake (Pseudechis australis)). Although widely feared in Papua New Guinea's Central Province, it is responsible for only a small minority of snakebites, eclipsed by the more dangerous taipan. Identifying snakes after snakebite can be difficult as victims are often bitten while walking through long kunai grass and hence the snake is not seen clearly. The Mekeo people know it as auguma, "to bite again", from its habit of repeatedly biting.
He didn't even know the chords - he just played it on the bass and I picked it up from there." Walker said, "Between learning the song and having the finished record might have been a couple of hours work." Walker later said, "It's numbing to play "My Baby" for the 654th time. Not because it's worse than the others, but because there's only one way of playing it that works, whereas a song like "Taipan" you can do just about anything you like and it won't full apart.
David Fleay's achievements at the sanctuary were numerous. In 1955, he achieved the first known captive breeding of the mulgara, followed in 1958 by the breeding of the planigale (a midget marsupial). In 1958 he successfully delivered a further three platypuses to New York's Bronx Zoo and later that year was able to construct a new and improved platypussary at the West Burleigh sanctuary with a small grant awarded to him by the New York Zoological Society. In 1959, he achieved the first captive breeding of the taipan.
Runner's Gambit: When attacked by ships an effective escape strategy is to do nothing and wait until the crew asks, "Taipan, what shall we do??" and then immediately pressing 'R' for run. This strategy which usually results in a quick escape may only work on the Apple II version. Throughout the game, the player is sometimes offered the opportunity to purchase ship upgrades. When this happens, the player can trade their old ship for a larger one with fifty extra units of cargo space by paying some money.

Maggie's father was taipan of Jardine Matheson, the influential Scottish–Chinese trading company. The family spent time in Hong Kong and Shanghai as well as the UK. Keswick was educated in England and read English at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. After working in fashion, she studied at the Architectural Association in London and in 1978 she published The Chinese Garden: History, Art and Architecture.
It's also interesting to note that he also served as the Chairman of the bank from 1962 to 1963, holding the chairmanship title of both the bank and Jardines. As taipan of Jardines, he oversaw the opening of the company headquarters in 1956 along Connaught Road, a 16-story building which was already replaced in 1972. He is best remembered for the historic and landmark event of leading Jardines to its initial public offering. Initially distributing the shares at $2.78, within a week it shot up to $5.22, having been oversubscribed 56 times.
Before the introduction of specific antivenom by the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories in 1956, nearly all bites were fatal. In his book Venom, which explores the development of a taipan antivenom in Australia in the 1940s and 1950s, author Brendan James Murray argues that only one person is known to have survived an Oxyuranus bite without antivenom: George Rosendale, a Guugu Yimithirr aboriginal bitten at Hope Vale in 1949. Murray writes that Rosendale's condition was so severe that nurses later showed him extracted samples of his own blood that were completely black in colour.

The company was merged with Paramount Publishing Group in 1991 (a public listed company) to become the largest publishing and printing house in the region. In 1991, Capital Communications Corporation was acquired by Paramount Publishing Group, with Cheng becoming CEO, a position he held until 1994. His entrepreneurship earned him the nickname "Taipan". Cheng was appointed as consultant for a wide spectrum of key institutions in Hong Kong, including the Land Development Council, Mass Transit Railway Corporation, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Trade Development Council, PCCW, Futures and Security Commission and Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
He married Ida Wynifred Johnston (born c.1880) in 1900 and had three children: # David Johnston (1902 Yokohama – 1976); married Nony or Nonie Barbara Pease, and had children, including Amelia Sophia or Sophy Keswick whose children include: Percy Weatherall (b. 1957), Mrs Catherine Soames and Isobel, Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne and another son. # Sir William Johnston "Tony" Keswick (1903 Yokohama – 16 February 1990, London), a Taipan of Jardine Matheson 1934–1941; married Mary Etheldreda Lindley, and had 3 sons: Henry Keswick (knighted 2009 Birthday Honours), Sir Chips Keswick, and Simon Keswick.
The eastern brown snake (Pseudonaja textilis) is the most toxic member of the genus and is considered by some to be the second-most toxic land snake in the world, after the inland taipan (which is also found in Australia). The western brown snake is the 10th-most venomous snake in the world. Brown snakes can easily harm pet animals and livestock. The venom fangs of snakes of the genus Pseudonaja are very short, and the average yield of venom per bite is relatively low — for P. textilis, P. nuchalis, and P. affinis, about 4.0 to 6.5 mg dry weight of venom.
The onset of symptoms is often rapid, and a bite from this species is a life-threatening medical emergency. Prior to the introduction of specific antivenom by the Commonwealth Serum Laboratories in 1956, a coastal taipan bite was nearly always fatal. In case of severe envenomation, death can occur as early as 30 minutes after being bitten, but average death time after a bite is around 3–6 hours and it is variable, depending on various factors such as the nature of the bite and the health state of the victim. Envenomation rate is very high, over 80% of bites inject venom.
In the summer of 2016, “Ukroboronprоm” presented multipurpose unmanned aircraft complex “Gorlytsa” and tactical unmanned multipurpose vehicle “Phantom”. On September 28, 2016, at the international exhibition of armaments “ADEX-2016” in Azerbaijan, the State Concern introduced a new combat module “Taipan” which specifications meet the highest Western standards. In 2016, “Ukroboronprom” also developed and presented a digital fire control system “Myslyvets”, combat modules “Duplet” and “Kastet”, 60 mm mortar KBA.118, and transport aircraft An-132. At the beginning of 2017, “Ukroboronprom” agreed with the American company “Aeroscraft” on co-production of automatic M16 rifle (model WAC47) that meets NATO standards.
Within USJ, the LRT line continues from SS18 to USJ 7 (Da Men and Summit), USJ Taipan, Wawasan (USJ 15), USJ 21 (One City and Main Place), and ends at the main interchange station hub in Putra Heights, which connects with another LRT line, the Sri Petaling Line to Puchong, Bukit Jalil and Sri Petaling. On the other hand, public bus transportation is provided by two companies, RapidKL and Metrobus. These buses provide access around the town and also to Kuala Lumpur. Alternatively, there is a BRT line connecting the Setia Jaya Komuter station through Bandar Sunway to the USJ7 LRT Station.
6dF uses a robot to position up to 150 optical fibres on a metal plate mounted at the focal plane of the UKST, which then carry light from the targets to a spectrograph which sits on the floor of the dome. The 6dF Galaxy Survey (6dFGS), a redshift survey of 120,000 infrared-selected galaxies was completed in 2005, and from 2003–2013 the UKST then carried out the RAdial Velocity Experiment (RAVE) to measure the radial velocities and metallicities of around to 0.5 million stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. Two new spectroscopic surveys called TAIPAN and Funnelweb are planned post-2015.
Lardil (also known as Gununa, Ladil) is an Australian Aboriginal language spoken on Mornington Island and the Northern Wellesley Islands, within the local government boundaries of the Mornington Shire. Kuku-Thaypan (also known as Gugu Dhayban, Kuku Taipan, Thaypan) is an Australian Aboriginal language spoken in Hann River, Laura and Musgrave River and on Mornington Island, within the local government boundaries of the Cook Shire. Macassan trepangers once travelled thousands of kilometres from Sulawesi to Mornington Island and other Australian mainland destinations in search of sea cucumbers. The eastern cape of the island was named Cape Van Diemen after Anthony van Diemen.
In September 2012, in the small city of Kurri Kurri, New South Wales, north of Sydney, more than 1000 kilometres away from the snake's natural environment, a teenage boy was bitten on the finger by an inland taipan. The teenager's rapid self- application of a compression bandage above the woundBreakfast News Program (September 27, 2012 A teenage boy has survived being bitten by the world's most venomous snake.. In December 2013, reptile handler Scott Grant (age 40+), who was conducting a demonstration in front of 300 people at the annual building union's picnic in Portland, Victoria, had just finished showing the crowd an inland taipan and was trying to put it into a bag when it struck him. He got into his utility and tied a bandage around his arm. A few minutes later, however, he was lying on the ground and convulsing. He was flown in a serious condition to Essendon Airport and driven to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where his condition was stabilised and over time he recovered.
On 19 December 2002, the Prime Minister announced the creation of the Special Operations Command and that the government would accelerate the purchase of the MRH-90 Taipan helicopters to enable a squadron of helicopters to be based in Sydney as a potent addition to the Tactical Assault Group East. On 28 November 2004, 'A' Squadron of the 5th Aviation Regiment based at RAAF Base Townsville swapped designations with the 171st Operational Support Squadron. The Squadron was equipped with the Sikorsky S-70A Black Hawk with the role of providing support to the Special Operations Command.
He was the taipan of the Jardines from 1952 to 1956 in Hong Kong and was appointed to the Executive Council. For his contributions, he was invested as a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in 1950. He was also the president of the Sino-British Trade Council from 1961 to 1973 and was at one time president of the China Association and vice-president of the Great Britain- China Centre. In 1973, he was awarded the Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG) for his contributions to China trade.
Wildlife adapted to these harsh conditions includes few large birds or mammals. However, the desert does sustain many types of lizard including the vulnerable great desert skink (Egernia kintorei), the Central Ranges taipan (discovered in 2007), and a number of small marsupials including the endangered sandhill dunnart (Sminthopsis psammophila) and the crest-tailed mulgara (Dasycercus cristicauda). One way to survive here is to burrow into the sands, as a number of the desert's animals, including the southern marsupial mole (Notoryctes typhlops), and the water-holding frog do. Birds include the chestnut-breasted whiteface (Aphelocephala pectoralis) found on the eastern edge of the desert and the malleefowl of Mamungari Conservation Park.
At that time, he co-founded the Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company with David F. Landale, taipan of the Jardine Matheson and founder of the Hong Kong Airways in 1950. In 1948 and 1950, he was the chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. After the resignation of R. D. Gillespie, he was elected by the chamber to be the representative on the Legislative Council of Hong Kong on 6 May, until he stepped down in August and was replaced by P. S. Cassidy. He was also deputy chairman of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in 1940-41 and director of the bank.
She also had a smaller rig (similar to a Flying Dutchman), a big genoa and bending spars and was referred to by Miller as a supercharged FD. Taipan had, however, far too much decking for the time and Miller was forced to do a major reconstruction job prior to the start of the regatta, reducing her deck by around fifty per cent, which made her very vulnerable in choppy conditions. Bernie Skinner's Surprise won the title back for the kiwis with five good placings while the Australians couldn't match this consistency and suffered the consequences. Unfortunately for the New Zealanders, Skinner's victory was their only one during the 1960s.
Meanwhile, the 1 ½-storey factories come with the built up of 2,640 sf. Facilities included within the residential area are parking lots for the residents to park their transportation, a mosque as a worship place for the community and shop lots for the locals to fill their daily needs. Cassidy first came to Hong Kong in 1913 and worked for the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation before he was invited into partnership of the John D. Hutchison & Co., an import and export company, with his brother-in-law T. E. Pearce in 1922. They set up a branch office in Canton in 1929 which ceased to operate in 1941. Cassidy became the taipan of the John D. Hutchison & Co. after Pearce was killed in the Battle of Hong Kong in 1941. He was member of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and was its chairman from 1948 to 1950 and again from 1951 to 1952.

An Australian Army MRH90 in 2011 In 2005, Australia ordered 12 aircraft to replace their aging fleet of Army UH-1 Iroquois helicopters. In June 2006, the Australian Defence Force announced plans to replace its UH-60 Black Hawk and Westland Sea King helicopters; a further 34 NH90s were ordered, for an ordered total of 46; four being manufactured in Europe, and 42 being manufactured locally by Australian Aerospace (an Airbus Helicopters subsidiary) in Brisbane. The type is designated MRH-90 Taipan, 'MRH' stands for Multi Role Helicopter. Six examples are operated by 808 Squadron of the Royal Australian Navy, which was reformed in 2011 and recommissioned in 2013.
Axatak, who adopted a leather and hair look similar to the early LA glam metal scene and Taipan also released albums or EPs but all of these were generally passed over by the mainstream Australian music scene. Almost Human was an Adelaide band that formed in the late 1970s playing covers before introducing original material. As one of that city's most prominent heavy bands they supported touring groups like Whitesnake, Sweet, Slade and others and eventually released a self-financed single. Guitarist Chris Tennant went on to achieve some success with The Superjesus during the 1990s and other members went on to play in bands like Heaven and BB Steal.

Sir Keswick was born in 1906 to the third generation of Keswick family in the Jardine, Matheson & Co.. His father, Henry Keswick, son of William Keswick, was a Jardines taipan and a Conservative Member of Parliament. Sir John followed his father and grandfather into Jardines in 1929 at the age of 23. He worked in Shanghai from 1931 until the outbreak of the Second World War in Europe in 1939. He then went to Chungking, the wartime capital of China and worked for the Minister of Economic Warfare in the wartime government, attached to the British Embassy as a Special Operations Executive (SOE) Oriental Mission's representative.
He rejoined the battalion during the First World War in which he commanded until its disbandment. He was also a member of the Royal Company of Archers, a ceremonial unit that serves as the sovereign's bodyguard in Scotland. He joined the family business and spent two years in the New York office of Jardines before he arrived in Hong Kong in 1895, the year before his Uncle James Johnstone Keswick left and became the taipan of the Jardine. During his time in the Far East, he went to Shanghai and became the chairman of the Shanghai Municipal Council from 24 August 1906 and served until May 1907.

Although only six boats contested the 1960 contest at Auckland the regatta was anything but uninteresting. As one leading New Zealand yachting journal said: "The 18s are still the glamour boats with the general public. Even the weekday races saw the waterfront road and headlands thick with spectators and the starting wharf completely packed". There were great dramas even before the racing began when Bob Miller (later famously known as Ben Lexcen) arrived with his radically designed Taipan, which was the biggest break in tradition since the skimmer. She was a three-man boat, hard chine, plywood construction, reverse sheer, half-decked, heavily flared topsides and narrow (4 ft 3in) beam on the chine.
Significant victories and setbacks marked Longinidis' career thereafter. He won the TAIPAN 1 tournament of 1994 by defeating three opponents in a single night, but lost his WKA, ISKA, and WAKO PRO World Super Heavyweight titles in a single match to Jeff Roufus in 1995. He qualified twice for the K-1 World Grand Prix, but was knocked out by Mike Bernardo in the 1995 quarterfinals and was unable to compete in the 1996 tournament due to injury. In June 1996, Longinidis won the innaugural WMTC World Super Heavyweight Muay Thai Championship in Pattaya was personally presented the title by King Rama IX. He lost the championship in September of the same year to Andy Hug.
NIRVANAnet was a dial-up BBS network, started in 1989 in the San Francisco Bay Area, by Joe Russack (also known as Dr. Strangelove, the sysop of Just Say Yes, an early two node BBS), and Jeff Hunter (also known as Taipan Enigma, sysop of & the Temple of the Screaming Electron), when they linked their existing systems using FidoNet protocol. Later, they were joined by Ratsnatcher (sysop of the east bay based Rat Head Systems). NIRVANAnet was unique among BBS networks at the time because member BBS systems agreed to allow anyone to connect, and access everything on the systems, instantly and anonymously. They also traded thousands of text files between the systems covering every subject imaginable.
Dance Design's third campaign began in the Listed Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh on 3 May when she was ridden for the first and only time by Pat Shanahan. Carrying top weight of 130 pounds she started odds-on favourite and on by a short head from Raiyoun with a gap of ten lengths back to Tout A Coup in third. Three weeks later, over the same course and distance the filly faced stronger opposition in the Group 2 Tattersalls Gold Cup but her task was made considerably easier when the favourite Dr Massini refused to race. She won by three lengths from the Irish St Leger winner Oscar Schindler with Taipan three lengths further back in third.
Guugu Yimithirr (also known as Koko Yindjir, Gugu Yimidhirr, Guguyimidjir) is an Australian Aboriginal language of Hope Vale and the Cooktown area. The language region includes the local government area of the Aboriginal Shire of Hope Vale and the Shire of Cook, particularly the localities of Cape Bedford, Battle Camp (in Laura) and sections of the Normanby River and Annan River. Kuku-Thaypan (also known as Gugu Dhayban, Kuku Taipan, Thaypan) is an Australian Aboriginal language spoken in Hann River, Laura and Musgrave River and on Mornington Island, within the local government boundaries of the Cook Shire. Some of the earliest pastoral leases on Cape York Peninsula were taken up in the Laura district.
Born in 1821, Perceval was a relative of Mary Jane Perceval, the wife of James Matheson, one of the founders of Hong Kong trading house Jardine, Matheson & Co. As a result, in 1850 he became a clerk in the firm and became a partner in 1853. By 1862 he had become Taipan of Jardine's and an unofficial member of the Legislative Council of the colony of Hong Kong from 1860 to 1864. He was also the first chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. Having amassed a large fortune in the Far East, Perceval returned to Ireland in 1860, and purchased the paternal estate of Temple House from R. H. Hall-Dare, esq.
In September 2019, Wu attracted attention when she criticised the pro-democracy Hong Kong protest. She drew praise from Beijing mouthpiece the People’s Daily shortly after competitor (in mooncake sales) Garic Kwok had been praised in Hong Kong but criticised by many in China for supporting the protests, harming sales there of his family's Taipan Bread & Cakes brand. Later the same month, as "supervisory consultant" of the staunchly pro-Beijing Hong Kong Federation of Women, Wu took her views to the United Nations Human Rights Council, igniting protests directed at her father's Maxim's restaurant chain. Wu also put pressure on the Chinese Foundation Secondary School, which she founded in 2000, to punish staff and students who supported the protests.
The Army is reorganising its aviation element, through the purchase of 22 ARH Tiger attack helicopters and 30 MRH 90 Taipan utility helicopters (30 helicopters out of a total purchase of 46, which will be divided between Army, Fleet Air Arm and a joined MRH 90 training base). Furthermore, 7 CH-47F Chinook heavy lift helicopters will be purchased to replace the Army's five remaining CH-47D Chinook helicopters. In addition, the Army will also acquire a number of UAVs (including a number of Boeing ScanEagles and 18 RQ-7 Shadow) which will equip the 20th Surveillance and Target Acquisition Regiment, at Enoggera Barracks, Queensland. Smaller UAVs being trialed include the AeroVironment Wasp III and Black Hornet Nano.
Bite victims may experience headache, nausea/vomiting, collapse, convulsions, paralysis, internal bleeding, myolysis (destruction of muscle tissue), and kidney damage. In cases of severe envenomation, death can occur as early as 30 minutes after being bitten, but the average is around 2.5 hours. The time between a bite and death depends on various factors such as the nature of the bite and the constitution of the victim. Untreated bites have a mortality rate of 100% as the coastal taipan always delivers a fatal dose of venom (an average bite delivers 10–12× the lethal dose of venom for a human adult male), and medical professionals recommend that victims seek immediate medical attention even for apparently minor bites.

In September 1972, after receiving an unclassified snake head sample from a grazier from one of the Channel Country stations west of Windorah of the far southwest Queensland, herpetologists Jeanette Covacevich (then working for the Queensland Museum) and Charles Tanner travelled to the site and found 13 living specimens, and rediscovered the lost snake Parademansia microlepidotus. In 1976 Jeanette Covacevich and John Wombey argued that Parademansia microlepidotus belongs to a distinct genus, and this was also the opinion of Harold Cogger. Covacevich, McDowell, Tanner & Mengden (1981) successfully argued, by comparing anatomical features, chromosomes and behaviour of the two species then known as Oxyuranus scutellatus (taipan) and Parademansia microlepidota, that they belonged in a single genus. Oxyuranus (1923), the more senior name, was adopted for the combined genus.
The Keswick family, in consortium with several London-based banks and financial institutions, bought out the controlling shares of the Buchanan-Jardine family in 1959, but subsequently sold most of the shares during the 1961 public offering, retaining only about 10% of the company. The company had its head office redomiciled to Bermuda in 1984 under the tenure of Simon Keswick. The present Chairman of Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd, Sir Henry Keswick, who is based in the UK, was the company's tai-pan from 1970 (aged 31) to 1975 and was the 6th Keswick to be tai-pan of the company. His brother Simon was the company's taipan from 1983 to 1988 and is the 7th Keswick to be tai-pan.
Conklin, now limping, is convinced there is government involvement but that they have lost control of the situation and the hired guns holding Marie are no longer in their control. Webb, who has transformed back into his hated persona of Jason Bourne, now has no choice but to go to Hong Kong and play out the scenario to get Marie back. In Hong Kong Bourne is led to a wealthy Tai-Pan who wants Webb to bring back the impostor Jason Bourne because the impostor killed his wife; the Taipan is actually a British intelligence officer named Lin Wenzu collaborating with the CIA to make Bourne find the impostor. Bourne agrees, saying that if his wife is not heard of the very moment he returns, he will kill his nabbed impostor without a second thought.
Despite the problems experienced by Miller at Auckland, there was little doubt about Taipans design, and the follow-up Venom proved this emphatically by dominating the 1961 contest on the Brisbane River. At the 1963 contest in Auckland, the 1958 champion Len Heffernan played an unusual role when he was responsible for the design and construction of Ken Beashel's winning skiff, Schemer. Heffernan had built two skiffs for the Australian season and elected to sail the Taipan-Venom type boat while handing over the more conventional four-man boat to Beashel. Beashel and his crew recorded three wins and a second placing over the five races; their record could have been even greater but for an unfortunate incident in race three when she was hit by a Royal New Zealand Air Force launch, which was carrying a TV cameraman.
In spite of this, metal music had a large underground following, with small independent retailers like Sydney's Utopia Import Records catering for the audience. Utopia was established in 1978 by record collector John Cotter who began trading metal and punk albums that were generally not given release in Australia and by the early 1980s was the country's best known retailer of heavy metal music. Inspired by the new wave of British heavy metal, a small raft of bands had begun to emerge that would form the foundations of the modern Australian heavy metal scene. Some of the better known groups from this time included Taipan, Saracen, Virgin Soldiers, Prowler (who would soon change their name to Taramis), Black Jack, Wolf, Nothing Sacred, Rosanas Raiders, Axatak, Almost Human, Egypt (later to become Venom, in Sydney), Tyrant and Bengal Tigers.
The muscular lightweight body of the Taipan allows it to hurl itself forwards or sideways and reach high off the ground, and such is the speed of the attack that a person may be bitten several times before realizing the snake is there. This snake is considered to be one of the most venomous in the world. Ernst and Zug et al. 1996 and the Australian venom and toxin database both list a value of 0.106 mg/kg for subcutaneous injection. Engelmann and Obst (1981) list value of 0.12 mg/kg SC, with an average venom yield of 120 mg per bite and a maximum record of 400 mg. To demonstrate just how deadly this species is, an estimate was made on the number of mice and adult human fatalities it is capable of causing in a single bite that yields the maximum dose of 400 mg.
Ross worked for Deacon and Co, eventually becoming taipan in 1948. He also held a number of directorate posts including chairman of the Hongkong Telephone Co, board member of China Light & Power Co, board member of the Union Insurance Society of Canton and board member of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank for twelve years. In the public sphere, he was a member of Hong Kong's Executive Council and Legislative Council, as well as chairman of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Standing Committee on Directorate Salaries. He also became associated with such bodies as the Export Credit Insurance Corporation, the Trade Development Council, the Textiles Advisory Board, the Trade and Industry Advisory Board, the Port Executive Committee, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the Hong Kong Tourist Association, the Tenancy Tribunal and the Board of Review of the Inland Revenue Department.
A Commando from 1st Commando Regiment jumping from a 171 Avn Sqn Black Hawk in 2013 The squadron is equipped with S-70A-9 Black Hawks and was planned to transition to the MRH 90 Taipan, an Australian variant of the NHI NH90, with the withdrawal of the Black Hawk from service by December 2013. However, the MRH 90 Program encountered significant problems, and in particular, the NH90 had not been operated in a dedicated special operations role, delaying the withdrawal. The Chief of Army extended the service of 20 Black Hawks to 2022 with 18 based at Holsworthy and two retained at the Oakey Army Aviation Centre in Queensland. The MRH 90 will be introduced into the 6th Aviation Regiment in 2019 under Plan Palisade which will require the development of a fast roping, rappelling and extraction system (FFRES), gun mount capable of firing the FN MAG58 machine gun and M134D minigun, and new cargo hook.
After the release of their first mixtape Fantasy : Episode 1 in 2004, Gringe and Orelsan embarked on solo careers before coming together again to record their debut studio album. Gringe released Fantasy Mixtape in 2009, while Orelsan's two studio albums Perdu d'avance and Le chant des sirènes were met with huge success. The former was nominated for a Prix Constantin, while the latter won him the Urban Music Album of the Year award at the 2012 Victoires de la Musique, with songs from the album and Orelsan himself garnering several more accolades and nominations in the process. The two rappers had done the songs "Entre bien et mal" from Perdu d'avance and "Ils sont cools" from Le chant des sirènes, as well as being featured on "C'est beau de rêver" by Taipan from his album Dans le circuit among others before collectively working on their new studio album and releasing tracks as Casseurs Flowters.
The MRH-90 was listed as a Project of Concern by the Australian Government on 28 November 2011 due to operational capability concerns. The first four were built in the main plant in France, the remainder built in Brisbane by Australian Aerospace. The MRH-90 was chosen ahead of the UH-60M Black Hawk. The MRH 90 Taipan is in service with the 5th and 6th Aviation Regiment. The Tiger ARH (Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter) was designed to provide significant reconnaissance and fire support in a combined arms team and is equipped with Hellfire missiles, 70 mm rockets and cannons. 22 Tigers will be delivered to the Army under the AIR 87 Project, built at the Australian Aerospace Brisbane facility. The Tiger ARH achieved Final Operational Capability on 14 April 2016 originally planned for June 2009 and is in service with the 1st Aviation Regiment. The S-70A-9 Black Hawk is operated by the 171st Aviation Squadron in the 6th Aviation Regiment.
