This was to protect perishable items, with specific mention of live animals, from loss in the mails. It was considered a separate service from special delivery. The United States Post Office Department introduced this service in 1925, and provided a deep green 25¢ Special Handling postage stamp for it. As rates changed, three additional U. S. Special Handling stamps (10¢, 15¢ and 20¢) appeared 1928.

Home Fire is the fourth album by Irish musician/songwriter Ron Kavana. Released in 1991 on the Special Delivery label of Topic Records(and the next year in America on Green Linnet), the album is really a joint project with Terry Woods, formerly of The Pogues. The album features two Kavana/Woods co- writes, including "Young Ned Of The Hill", previously recorded by The Pogues on the album Peace and Love. About half the tracks are performed by Kavana and Woods unaccompanied, the other half with other musicians.

A similar crash occurred at Lawrence Hill on 1 November 2000, when a Royal Mail train passed two red signals and ran into the back of a coal train at around 3:30am. Although he occasionally played softball as a teenager, his relationship with baseball began by an unusual approach—after he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942, Zapp joined a segregated military team while stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The story was first published in Donald Duck Four Color #203 (December 1948), with a cover by Barks, a 12-page Mickey Mouse and Goofy Christmas story ("Special Delivery") written, drawn, and lettered by Bill Wright, and three one-page Barks Christmas gag stories featuring Donald Duck: "Jumping to Conclusions", "The True Test", and "Ornaments on the Way".
