But the movie undergoes a series of contortions -- including a few close-to-silly ones -- especially during its later stages as it teases out the mystery and putties in details regarding Megan's life.

The new Power Rangers movie is nice and all, but we know that we kind of pine for the glory days of waking up on Saturday, sneaking sugar cereal until your body was fully vibrating, and then tuning in to watch the Rangers absolutely demolish some Putties.

That said, the last 20 minutes of this movie, with the Power Rangers firing laser beams from their Zords as they zip around Angel Grove and throttle Putties (Rita's henchmen) while the Zords sink their teeth into monsters turned me back into a 11-year-old.

Lord Zedd attacks the Command Center with an army of Putties and Zack arrives to defend it and Zordon. During his attempt to teleport them out, the teleportation relay is destroyed by a fake Alpha 5 with a bomb implanted in him. This causes the teleportation to malfunction and send Zack, Lord Zedd and the Putties to cross dimensions, where a "Dark" and familiar figure witnesses their arrival. The Power Rangers teleport to the same coordinates Zack went to and end up stranded in the DC Universe, a world where superpowered heroes are an everyday thing and villains are almost as powerful as the monsters that Rita and Zedd create.

Like their TV counterparts, the Tengus are shown to have the power of speech.

In the Season 2 episode "Green No More, Part 1", Zack's cousin Curtis was introduced, who would have a small recurring role throughout the middle of the season. Curtis was very similar to Zack due to their similar interests in dance and music, as well as their smooth-talking speech pattern. He also formed a friendship with Trini's crush Richie. The two once even managed to fight off a group of Putties while they were skating.

During the final battle of the 2017 Power Rangers film, the Red Ranger, while piloting his T-Rex Zord, accidentally steps on a yellow Camaro of a similar model as the live-action Bumblebee. He throws the car at an army of Putties and shouts, "Sorry, Bumblebee!" as the car makes impact.

The sequel Putty Squad was initially only released for Super NES and only in PAL territories. It features Putty fighting alongside nemesis Dweezil the cat against other mischievous enemies to rescue other red putties. It also features a two-player mode, with the second player taking control of a red putty. The Putties are typically used as a diversion for Goldar's masters to further their plans, and Goldar would often engage in speculation as to the likelihood of said plan's success. Goldar is portrayed as a formidable enemy in the show's pilot episode, and often depicted in the show's early seasons as capable of holding his own against the entire Power Ranger team and defeat them single-handedly unlike many of their opponents. In later seasons of the series, Goldar's characterization became less threatening and more comical in nature.

Putty Squad is a platform game in which the player controls an amorphous blue blob, tasked with rescuing imprisoned putties. The player's putty can stretch in a variety of ways: sideways to cover ground faster, squash flat to absorb pick-up items, stretch upwards to climb, morph a fist to attack, or inflate to float upwards. Putty can collect stars that increase his attack power: at first increasing the potency of his punch, but later allowing him to blow darts, electrocute enemies or throw bombs. This star power is reduced every time Putty is hit by an enemy.

Putty has been used extensively in glazing for fixing and sealing panes of glass into wooden frames (or sashes), although its use is decreasing with the prevalence of PVC and metal window frames which use synthetic sealants such as silicone. Glazing putty is traditionally made by mixing a base of whiting (finely ground chalk) with linseed oil in various proportions. There are a number of synthetic alternatives such as polybutene based putties, where the polybutene is a low molecular weight oligomer replacing the linseed oil. Goldar is depicted as a bipedal Manticore-like alien from Titan, who wields a sword, and wears a gold- plated suit of "Titanian Armor", with a matching helmet which looks like a mix of ancient Greek and Egyptian visual design. He had red eyes, a long mane, a lion-like snout, a scorpion-like tail, and speaks in a gravelly voice. He originally served Lord Zedd long ago, and was later assigned to serve Rita prior to their imprisonment on the Moon. He is usually depicted as the obsequious commander of Rita and Zedd's minions, the Putty Patrol (or Putties), to frighten and distract the Power Rangers.

He also has all of Tommy's tactics and training along with his former Green Ranger powers, allowing him to be able to anticipate most of his doppelgänger's actions. Under the Wizard of Deception's powers, the Dragonzord's strength level is on par with the White Ranger's Tigerzord, but only because the White Ranger's power was temporarily weakened by the Wizard. In a battle with some Putties, Tommy was knocked unconscious, and the Wizard cut a lock from his hair and turned him into an evil clone, imbued with the restored Green Ranger powers. The clone tricked the other Rangers into meeting him in an isolated spot, where the Wizard of Deception sent them back to colonial Angel Grove.
