The leader was the farmer Pier Gerlofs Donia, whose farm had been burned down and whose kinfolk had been killed by a marauding Landsknecht regiment.

Additionally, effective adaptation strategies, such as absorption in work and creation of pseudofamilies, have led to successful coping in refugees. Many refugee populations, particularly Southeast Asian, undergo a secondary migration to larger communities of kinfolk from their countries of origin, which serve as social support networks for refugees. Research has shown that family reunification, formation of new social groups, community groups, and social services and professional support have contributed to successful resettlement of refugees. Refugees can be stigmatized if they encounter mental health deficiencies prior to and during their resettlement into a new society.

Abraham sent his steward back there to find a wife among his kinfolk for his son, Isaac.

The Copper Crown introduces us to the technologically advanced, interstellar kingdom of Keltia, founded in Earth year 452 by Celts from Earth. As the book opens, in Earth year 3512, Aeron Aoibhell is Ard-rian (High Queen) of Keltia, and finds herself in a particularly unenviable position. Earth has finally discovered its faraway and long-sundered kinfolk, but any possible alliance/treaty with the Terran Federacy could result in war with Keltia’s fiercest rivals, the Phalanx and the Cabiri Empire. Facing these ethical dilemmas proves challenging for the queen and her realm.

Redneck Zombies was one of the first films shot entirely on videotape and then released to the home-video market (making it a straight-to-video film). The film was once used as an answer in a 1980s edition of Trivial Pursuit, the question being "What film has the tagline 'They're Tobacco Chewin', Gut Chompin', Cannibal Kinfolk from Hell!'". Director Pericles Lewnes went on to work as a special effects supervisor on several other Troma productions, including The Toxic Avenger Part II, The Toxic Avenger Part III, and Troma's War, as well as Shatter Dead.

More evidence of Wilbert's heritage, namely a photograph and concertina, are found in his dressing room, and prove that he is the long-lost grandson of "Squeeze Box" McCoy, leader of the McCoy clan. Granny McCoy (Ida Moore) has been looking for Wilbert, as she will reveal where Squeeze Box hid his gold to "kinfolk" only. Al, Dorothy and Wilbert head to Kentucky, and Granny recounts the story of the McCoy-Winfield feud that began over 60 years ago. The McCoys choose Wilbert to represent them against Devil Dan Winfield (Glenn Strange) in a turkey shoot.

Many of the founders of the AKS were veterans of the Karelian wars and thus had knowledge of the plight of the Karelian-speaking population in Soviet Karelia. The Karelians were considered to be a part of the Finnish heimo (folk) and their fate was of utmost importance for the AKS. The Academic Karelia Society's program was centered around their main demand: the acquisition of East Karelia from Soviet Russia and the liberation of the Karelian kinfolk. The work towards this goal was mainly done by propagandist efforts to keep the matter in the public eye.

Kinfolk writes that the disco theme appeals to alternative and individual crowds, to which Kaytranada feels a sense of belonging, whilst the R&B; and House elements of his music incorporate a much broader crowd. This achieves an overall sense of giving comfort to outsiders of a community through music, as interpreted by NPR. The blend between R&B; and Afrobeat production on the album develops tracks into music that isn’t just heard but is also felt as NPR states. NPR also writes that listening to the album becomes a physical experience of feeling the thumping beat and hearing the melodic accompaniment.

New Bridge was settled by the Bergen Dutch, an agricultural community whose language and culture blended contributions from Dutch, Angolan African, German, English, French, Scotch and Scandinavian settlers. At a place known originally as Aschatking (where the river narrows), about ten miles above the head of Newark Bay, a Swedish land-clearer named Cornelius Mattyse acquired 420 acres at the juncture of Tantaqua's Creek (Cole's Brook) and the Hackensack River, in 1682. This was called Tantaqua's Plain, where a Hackensack sachem of that name resided with his kinfolk. David Ackerman, residing in the village of Hackensack, purchased the land from Matheus Corneliuson, son of Cornelius Matheus of Hackinsack River, in 1695.

Thulani Davis was born to two African-American educators from Virginia, Willie ("Billie") Louise (née Barbour) Davis and Collis Huntington Davis, Sr. The Davises are prominent in Virginia and the subject of her 2006 book, My Confederate Kinfolk. Predators, Prey and Other Kinfolk by Dorothy Allred Solomon After Joel's death, Verlan was tapped for leadership of the Church of the Firstborn, so Ervil added Irene's family to his hit list. To escape the death threats, Irene and her children were forced to move to Nicaragua, where they lived in huts without electricity or indoor plumbing, battled ticks and jungle insects, and were infected by intestinal worms. The living conditions in Nicaragua nearly broke Irene, but she finally left Verlan in 1978 when, despite the family's abject poverty, he married a 10th wife, Priscilla. After seeking spiritual advice outside of the polygamist community, she was convinced to return to Verlan in 1980.

Individual songs don't thematically blend, but transition musically - in one instance, adjoining tracks "What You Need" and "Vex Oh" give almost opposing views on love. Crack Magazine and NPR identify connections between Kaytranada’s use of backbeats and synthesizers, and the evolution of R&B; and post-Disco club music from the 1980s, especially in early underground DJs. Kaytranada revealed the album was influenced by the events in his life after the release of 99.9%; including opening up about his sexuality, coming to terms with his newfound fame, and dealing with anxiety, stress, and depression as a result. “Bubba” focuses on themes of loneliness and being an outcast, which Kinfolk states to be what appeals most to his audience.

She appeared only once in a film by Nikita Mikhalkov, who structured his village comedy-drama Kinfolk (1981) entirely around the personality of the actress, who had by that time established herself as an epitome of the Russian peasant woman. The role of Klavdia Vavilova, a robust and boisterous Red Army Commissar who has accidentally become pregnant in Aleksandr Askoldov's Commissar (1967) is Mordyukova's most memorable work.

In his love for a young lady of the Traversari family, Nastagio degli Onesti squanders his wealth without being loved in return. He is entreated by his friends to leave the city, and goes away to Chiassi, where he sees a female ghost cursed to be hunted down and killed by a horseman and devoured by a pack of hounds every week. He finds out that the cursed horseman was in a similar situation to his own, and committed suicide while the woman died afterwards unrepentant for her role in his death. Nastagio then invites his kinfolk and the lady he loves to a banquet at this same place, so the ghost woman is torn to pieces before the eyes of his beloved, who, fearing a similar fate, accepts Nastagio as her husband.

Elorie Ardais, in The Bloody Sun, Chapter 7, says, "Everyone alive has some small degree of laran." Damon Ridenow, in The Spell Sword, Chapter 6, reflects on the odd fact that Andrew Carr, a Terran, has laran, and can telepathically be in touch with Callista when he and Callista's twin sister cannot: > In the telepath caste, it was often the accident of possessing laran, the > specific telepath Gift, which determined how close a relationship would > come. Caste, family, social position, all these became irrelevant compared > to that one compelling fact; one had, or one did not, that inborn power, and > in consequence one was stranger or kinfolk. By that criterion alone, the > most important one on Darkover, Andrew Carr was one of them, and the fact > that he was an Earthman was a small random fact without any real importance.

The rootless Arikara lived near their southern "kinfolk," the Skidi Pawnee, for some years. Smallpox had struck the Upper Missouri tribes the year before (and would again in 1856).

Despite continued complaints of ill health, he was slated in 1811 to take command at Fort St. Joseph, a border garrison and frontier fur-trading post located on St. Joseph Island in northern Lake Huron. Captain Roberts promptly reported to his superiors that his new 46-man command was struggling with alcoholism or as he called it, "unconquerable drunkenness." Fort St. Joseph proved to be ill-supplied by the British army and dependent for its sustenance on private and semi-private fur traders who, with licenses from British Canadian authorities, maintained ties with friendly First Nations people and worked with their Native kinfolk to sustain the upper Great Lakes economy. In November 1811 Captain Roberts even had to beg the post's resident fur trader, John Askin Jr., for point blankets in order to sew winter clothing for his garrison.

Ralph "Papa" Thorson (Steve McQueen) is a modern-day bounty hunter based in Los Angeles who hunts down and captures criminals who have skipped on their bail to bring them back for a 20% of the reward to his bail bondsman employer. It is revealed in the opening text that Thorson has apprehended more than 5,000 criminals and bail jumpers and life is just getting complicated for him. In the opening scene, Thorson arrives in a small town in Illinois where despite being a terrible driver of cars (a running joke used throughout the film), he captures fugitive Tommy Price (LeVar Burton) for fleeing on his bail. Next, Thorson drives to Houston where he is to bring in a dangerous punk, named Billie Joe, whose kinfolk include Sheriff Strong, a corrupt redneck lawman who warns Thorson not to get involved.

Her farm is also the center of the Duck family's annual holiday gatherings, with said gatherings usually arranged by her, and these are always merry, warm and interesting occasions, greatly appreciated by her kinfolk. Grandma's vehicle of transportation outside the farm is an early 20th-century Detroit Electric automobile and for overall she lives a very old-fashioned way of life, mostly relying on older technologies, techniques and experiences she has learned over her many years, refusing to acquire any modern gadgetry or lifestyles. For example, as instead of watching her television set she got from Donald for Christmas, she watches pictures on her old stereoscope. In a few stories however she does watch the weather program on an old television set, but in most stories she relies on her knee or hip, caused by weather pain, to predict rain for the crops.

By his own admission, Ruckman's earlier family life was turbulent: "I have had two wives desert me after fifteen years of marriage....I have been in court custody cases where seven children's futures were held in the balance; in situations where Gospel articles were being torn out of typewriters, Biblical artwork torn off the easels, women trying to throw themselves out of cars at fifty m.p.h., mailing wedding rings back in the middle of revival services, cutting their wrists, threatening to leave if I did not give my church to their kinfolk; deacons threatening to burn down my house and beat me up; children in split custody between two domiciles two hundred miles apart, and knock-down, drag-out arguments in the home sometimes running as long as three days." Peter Ruckman, The Last Grenade (Pensacola: Bible Baptist Bookstore, 1990), 339. He had ten children.

Sarawak's border areas were exposed to influences from American missionaries in Kalimantan (then known as Dutch Borneo), and most of the Lun Bawang groups became Christian through interaction with their kinfolk, indigenous converts on the other side of the international boundary. The first missionaries to visit the Kelabit Highlands in the Sarawak interior arrived in 1939, but the internment of Europeans during World War II opened the door to indigenous leadership. When missionaries returned to the highlands in 1947 they found that the Murut church had survived and that most Kelabit people had accepted Christianity through the activities of indigenous converts, including a pastor from Timor, Guru Paul, also known as Nimang Tepun. The Register of Depopulated Localities in Palestine The Palestinian Nakba is unsurpassed in history.For a country to be occupied by a foreign minority, emptied almost entirely of its people, its physical and cultural landmarks obliterated, its destruction hailed as a miraculous act of God and a victory for freedom and civilised values, all done according to a premeditated plan, meticulously executed, financially and politically supported from abroad, and still maintained today, is no doubt unique. The Future of the Exiled Palestinians in the Settlement Agreements The subject of the Oslo accords and the future of the exiled Palestinians is discussed today with a deep sense of urgency among themselves as well as their kinfolk in Palestine. These discussions are, more often than not, accompanied by intense feelings of anxiety expressed in the recurrent terms of; bewilderment, loss, and misery. In its series of non-periodical publications, the Palestinian Return Centre/London has published a book titled “The Displaced Palestinians in Lebanon - the bitterness of refuge and tragedies of migration ” by the representative of the centre in Lebanon, Mr Ali Huwaidi.

He had already sold several of his short stories set in Yorkshire to the Black and White and The Pall Mall Magazine. In 1893 he published his first collection of short stories, Tales of the Yorkshire Wolds, sketched from scenes of life in the North West Riding in which he depicted memories from his youth and tales collected from his father and grandfather, both Yorkshiremen. In this early work Snowden described himself as a Yorkshireman "no longer privileged to dwell amongst his kinfolk" and referred to the book as "a tribute of affection." His novel Barbara West (1901) is a tale of journalism set in the provinces of England during the 1880s, while Hate of Evil (1907) is a strange tale of a young clergyman who, to atone for an indiscretion during his youth opts for a life of poverty in a small and remote northern parish.
