One tunnel went to a massive repair facility '#7' and garage for servicing underground equipment. He helped the Jumbos to their first ever DIII National Championship in 2014, a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2015 and a second National Championship in 2016.

The Gibson L series is a series of small-body guitars produced and sold by Gibson Guitar Corporation in the early 20th century. The first guitars of this series, Gibson L-0 and Gibson L-1, were introduced first as arch-tops (1902), and later as flat tops in 1926. The L series was later gradually replaced by the LG series in the 1940s. These guitars have a relatively smaller body than the Dreadnoughts and Jumbos that appeared later in history.

Two "Jumbos" had been double-heading the train and the enquiry found that the only experience either driver had on the line had always involved stopping at Preston. To reassure the public, agreement was reached to slow the runs from London to Edinburgh and Glasgow to take a minimum time of eight hours. This agreement, which gave much the same journey time as in 1889, lasted into the early 1930s removing any impetus towards improving express train performance or scheduling.

Bailey was instrumental in acquiring Jumbo, advertised as the world's largest elephant, for the show. After Jumbo died, Barnum donated his taxidermied remains to Tufts University on whose Board of Trustees Barnum served as one of Tufts' first trustees. The Barnum Museum of Natural History opened in 1884 on the Tufts campus and Jumbo was a prominent part of the display. To this day the Tufts athletic mascot is Jumbo and its athletic teams are referred to as the "Jumbos".

The next game against the Dartmouth Club saw a return to 20-minute halves, but the match progressed similarly with the opponents building a multi-goal lead that Harvard was just able to overcome and claim victory. Three nights later Harvard downed the official team from Dartmouth and were beginning to get used to the style of play necessitated by the size of the Pavilion. By the time Harvard played Tufts they had rounded into form and dominated the Jumbos 8–0 while using their alternates for most the game.

Tufts Tennis Courts Men's Squash maintains a top 20 Division I national ranking. The 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament was a single- elimination tournament that involved 64 teams playing to determine the winner of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. It began on March 6, 2015, and concluded with the championship game on March 21, 2015, at the Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Thomas More Saints defeated the George Fox Bruins in the championship game, 83–63, to win their first national championship. The two remaining final four teams were the Montclair State Red Hawks and the Tufts Jumbos.

On November 12, 2017, Emirates Airline "renewed its aircraft buying spree" and agreed to buy a number of Boeing's 787 Dreamliners for $15.1 billion. With the first deliveries planned for 2022, the deal included 40 of the new 787-10, the largest available Dreamliner. The Wall Street Journal described the deal as a "painful loss" for Airbus, which until 2014, Emirates had a firm order for 70 of its A350 model. The order for the 787 had been announced during the Dubai Airshow, and Airbus executives were reportedly seated in the front row, expecting a deal for more A380 super-jumbos.

"The elephants are absolutely free to roam without human interference, and will be free of tussles with other wild elephants", Manilal Valliyate, PETA India's Director of Veterinary Affairs was quoted saying in an interview to The Hindu. According to a report published in Times of India, US elephant expert Margaret Whittaker came up with the innovative idea after visiting BBP last year. She gave the local mahouts training on 'protected contact' with the jumbos. This leads to safe interaction between human beings and elephants by keeping them separated while at the same time using positive techniques to manage the animals.

Adventure Point is the central area of the park, it features a selection of shops, restaurants, smaller outlets including hotdog and doughnut units and guest services, as well as the Chessington Adventure Tree carousel, which was added in 2017 The area has mostly Tudor and early Georgian architecture, featuring details such as hanging baskets and boxed plants. Rides include Tiny Truckers and Elmer’s Flying Jumbos'. In the centre of Adventure Point is a large compass feature in the ground. The compass points guests in the direction of all the resort locations, it includes: theme park lands, some zoo areas, the Sea Life centre and the hotels.

Barnum enjoyed what he publicly dubbed "profitable philanthropy". "If by improving and beautifying our city Bridgeport, Connecticut, and adding to the pleasure and prosperity of my neighbors, I can do so at a profit, the incentive to 'good works' will be twice as strong as if it were otherwise." He was appointed to the Board of Trustees to Tufts University prior to its founding, and he made several significant contributions to the fledgling institution, including a gift of $50,000 () in 1883 to establish a museum (later known as Barnum Museum of Natural History) and hall for the Department of Natural History. Tufts made Jumbo the elephant the school's mascot, and Tufts students are known as "Jumbos".

American forces rarely fielded heavy tanks, as they still held on to the infantry-support doctrine like the British; in addition, the Americans recognized the logistical and mobility issues that came with possessing a heavy tank force and did not want to compromise its 3,000 mile supply line to Europe. As a result, the US instead preferred to use tank destroyers for anti-tank combat, and prior to 1944 there were few indications that the M4 Sherman was outclassed in terms of armor and weapons by German heavy tanks. Near the end of World War II, the M26 Pershing was sent to Europe in limited numbers, being the closest the Americans had to a heavy tank other than the up-armored M4 Sherman Jumbos.

The US Navy's mastery of underway replenishment and its ability to refuel the fleet at sea without returning to port was a major factor in its successful operations against the Japanese during the Second World War. As the largest and fastest of the Navy's oilers, the Cimarrons were the principal class employed in direct support of the task forces. Many of the Cimarron class continued to sustain this function through the Korean and Vietnam wars as well, with the "jumbos" serving right up to the Persian Gulf War. US Navy captains who had flight status ("wings") were eligible to command aircraft carriers, but it was a prerequisite that the officer in question first have a "deep-draft" command; accordingly the Navy assigned these officers to oilers which had a similar draft.

Civetti joined the Tufts football program in 2008 as offensive coordinator and tight ends coach. In 2009 – after the conclusion of Tufts' season – Civetti returned to NC State to serve as the temporary offensive coordinator following Dana Bible's diagnosis of leukemia. During Civetti's sole game at the helm of the offense, NC State beat its biggest rival, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, 28–27. Three members of the 2009 Wolfpack team went on to play in the NFL: tight end T. J. Graham, offensive lineman Ted Larsen, and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson. Civetti was promoted to interim Tufts head coach in January 2011, replacing longtime head coach Bill Samko. On October 28, 2011, Civetti shed the interim label. The Jumbos went 0–8 in each of his first three seasons as head coach. On September 20, 2014, in its season opener, Tufts beat the Hamilton Continentals, 24–17, to break its 31-game losing stream (dating back to September 2010) and record Civetti's first win as head coach.
