Hallo Bay is a sandy bay located beneath the peaks of the Aleutian Range within Katmai National Park. The bay is famous for its bear viewing, since large numbers of grizzly bears are attracted to feast on the rich sedges along the tidal flats of the bay. Sometimes they are also observed digging up clams in the mud, and fishing for salmon in July. The food in the bay is so abundant that at times as many as five to six large bears can be seen at one time feeding on sedges, salmon or clams.

Performing in Turku, Finland in 1997 The Pet Shop Boys remix of the David Bowie song "Hallo Spaceboy" (co-written by Brian Eno), from the album Outside, featured Tennant on backing vocals and was released in the UK on 19 February 1996. The Pet Shop Boys then joined Bowie during his performance of the song at the 1996 BRIT Awards ceremony, as well as an appearance on the Top of the Pops television program. In April, Pet Shop Boys released a new single, "Before", leading up to their forthcoming album; the single reached number 7 in the UK Singles Chart. That same month, Tina Turner also released her Wildest Dreams album, which featured the Pet Shop Boys-produced track "Confidential".

Hallo Spencer is a German children's television series, created by Winfried Debertin and produced by Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) from 1979 until 2001. In these 22 years, 275 episodes were filmed, including a number of 'specials' featuring the characters taking part in traditional fairy tale and nursery rhyme themed stories. It is a puppet based show, featuring characters created and operated in the same fashion as Jim Henson's Muppets and Sesame Street, and, in fact, some of the show's staff were former employees of Sesamstraße, the German version of Sesame Street. To this day, the series is popular and well loved in its home country to the extent that the theme park Heide Park featured a themed area devoted to the show until it was removed in 2017.

In 1976, she founded the rhythm, blues, rock, and soul band Zdenka Express, with whom she performed the song "Hallo, Mr. Elton John" which is on the concert compilation of the BOOM festival '76.

In the company of Welsh jockey Hywel Davies he had developed a reputation as a stubborn horse and had pulled himself up in his last race. His owner, Anne, Duchess of Westminster, instantly decided to scratch her horse from the race, having never really wanted to run him in the first place, and when her decision was supported by trainer, Captain Tim Forster it took all of Davies' persuasive powers to convince them to give the horse his chance. The jockey was convinced that Aintree would suit the horse whose jumping and stamina were unquestioned. The runners were sent off at the first time of asking but a huge groan came from the stands when it was seen that Hallo Dandy was among four horses to fall at the first fence.

The salmon arrive early at Brooks Falls compared to other streams, and between 43 and 70 individual bears have been documented at the falls in July and an equal number of bears are seen in the lower river in September. The coastal areas such as Hallo Bay, Kukak Bay, Kuliak Bay, Kaflia Bay, Geographic Harbor and Chiniak Bay also host very high population densities of bears year-round, due to the availability of clams and edible coastal sedge as well as salmon and other fish. Other hotspots include Swikshak Lagoon, American Creek, and in the preserve, Moraine Creek and Funnel Creek. Grizzly bear fishing for salmon at Brooks Falls, Alaska The vast majority of Katmai visitors come to Brooks Camp, one of the only developed areas of the park, and few venture further than the bear viewing platforms and the adjacent Brooks Camp area.

The film was a relatively straightforward presentation of the performance in Dublin Ireland, with footage of all the musicians in Bowie's band as well as the lighting/staging effects used, such as the large platforms onstage, the hanging head tree branches, and the artistic footage played on the background video screens. Several different angles were used of Bowie onstage including cameras placed behind Bowie as well as cameras from the audience, and footage was also included of backstage preparations for the performance during the opening, intermission, and ending credits. Artistic effects were often used as well, amongst them color distortions (most notably during "Ashes to Ashes") the altering of footage speed (in the opening before "Rebel Rebel"), and rhythmic repetition of footage (the thrashing in "Hallo Spaceboy"). Many were simply embellishing, although some blurred the staging and caused the music to become desynchronised with the musicians.

In coastal areas of the park, such as Hallo Bay, Geographic Harbor, Swikshak Lagoon, American Creek, Big River, Kamishak River, Savonoski River, Moraine Creek, Funnel Creek, Battle Creek, Nantuk Creek, Kukak Bay, and Kaflia Bay bears can be seen fishing alongside wolves, eagles, and river otters. Coastal areas host the highest population densities year round because there is a larger variety of food sources available, but Brooks Camp hosts the highest population (100 bears). The McNeil River State Game Sanctuary and Refuge, on the McNeil River, is home to the greatest concentration of brown bears in the world. An estimated 144 individual bears have been identified at the falls in a single summer with as many as 74 at one time; 60 or more bears at the falls is a frequent sight, and it is not uncommon to see 100 bears at the falls throughout a single day.

Yapp first came to prominence in the mid-1990s on Martin Kelner's radio shows on BBC North and Jazz FM playing the character Dame Dora Dale. This led to the award-winning BBC 7 show Pleased to Meet You in 2006. Two new episodes were transmitted by BBC Radio 4 Extra over Christmas 2011. A semi-finalist in the 2000 Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award, Yapp performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008 (Bum Notes) and 2009 (Hallo, Music Lovers & Free at Four). He had a regular slot on BBC 6 Music's Shaun Keaveny breakfast show until July 2011. Yapp also created and performed The Chesney Bentings Mysteries for BBC Radio 2's Ken Bruce show as part of 2011's Comic Relief. From August 2011 until December 2012, Yapp presented his own Friday and Saturday morning shows on BBC Radio Leeds. Yapp is well known for his YouTube parody of a day in the life of BBC Radio 4 titled 'Radio Four in Four Minutes'.

Duck Sauce's debut EP Greatest Hits was released on July 15, 2010. In the summer of 2010, Duck Sauce released a track, "Barbra Streisand", named after the singer of the same name. The track heavily samples the 1979 song "Gotta Go Home" by Boney M., which itself is based upon "Hallo Bimmelbahn" by the German band Nighttrain. The famous hookline is written by Heinz Huth. "Barbra Streisand" was first played at Miami Winter Music Conference in 2010 and gained heavy DJ and radio support in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Norway, Austria, Poland, France, Finland, Romania, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The song peaked at #3 on the UK Singles Chart and reached #1 on the Australian ARIA Club Chart as of 12 September 2010. For the Billboard week ending December 18, 2010, the song reached the #1 position on the Dance/Club Play Songs chart.[ Dance/Club Play Songs]. Billboard. The trio has been very active on the international jazz scene. Numerous concerts at international festivals in places like Wilisau, Paris, Vienne, Rome, London, Portland, Montreal, in addition to tours in Europe, Canada, the United States, Japan, South Korea. Vallon has also composed much music like the music of the choregraphical piece Hallo by Martin Zimmermann. He was part of the creation of Gossenreiter, a documentary Film. In 2015 the «Bee-Flat» jazz and world music venue in Bern, gives him a Carte Blanche to present three new projects, Ocre, a psychedelic rock oriented quartet with trumpeter Matthieu Michel, bassist Flo Götte, and drummer Domi Chansorn, Coriolis, a minimal improvisation quartet with vocalist and electronica artist Joy Frempong and clarinetist Hans Koch, and Fauna, a composition for cellos, harps, saxophones and drums, inspired by the strangeness of the animal world. Vallon was awarded the Fridl-Wald Foundation Prize, the 1st Prize in the Competition Nescafé Let’s Jazz Together, and the 3rd Prize in the Montreux International Jazz Piano Solo Competition.

The 12/1 chance would also benefit from the most experienced rider in the field, John Burke, taking his tenth ride in the race, having previously won it in 1976 Reg Green 'A Race Apart', 1988 Grittar returned to try and regain the title he claimed in 1982, having prepared this year with a creditable third place in the Whitbred trial at Ascot. Although given 2 lbs less than when finishing fifth lest year, it was still 5 lbs more than when victorious. Having been partnered by two different riders in his previous attempts he would again have a new jockey in John Francome who had missed the ride the previous year through injury and was also a 12/1 chance. Hallo Dandy had been a freely available 33/1 chance for the race at the start of 1984, having been pulled up in the Hennessey Cognac Gold Cup but was the subject of huge gambles when the handicapper seemed to have completely underestimated him by raising him just 1 lb in the weights to run carrying ten stones 2 lbs.
