Stream Gaging Station, Carnation, during the March 13, 2007 flood The Snoqualmie River is prone to flooding and typically sees multiple flood events annually that inundate local farmland and close low-lying roads. During record level floods, all road access to the towns of Carnation and Duvall becomes closed off. The last three times this happened were during the floods of 2009, 2006, and 1990. The river level of the Snoqualmie River is monitored by six USGS streamgages, one on each fork, one just above the falls, one below Carnation, and one near Duvall.

Harnish Creek () is a meltwater stream, long, that flows north from the unnamed glacier east of Crescent Glacier into the east part of Lake Fryxell, Taylor Valley, in Victoria Land, Antarctica. The name was suggested by hydrologist Diane McKnight, leader of a United States Geological Survey (USGS) team that made extensive studies of the hydrology and geochemistry of streams and ponds in the Lake Fryxell basin, 1987–94. The creek is named after USGS hydrologist Richard A. Harnish, a member of the field team in the 1988–89 and 1990–91 seasons; during the latter season he assisted in establishing stream gaging stations on streams flowing into Lake Fryxell.

Huey Creek () is a glacial meltwater stream, long, flowing south from an ice field west of Mount Falconer to the north- central shore of Lake Fryxell, in Taylor Valley, Victoria Land, Antarctica. The name was suggested by hydrologist Diane McKnight, leader of a United States Geological Survey (USGS) team that made extensive hydrological studies in the Lake Fryxell basin, 1987–94. The name acknowledges support received by the USGS field team in Taylor Valley from U.S. Navy Squadron VXE-6 and its twin engine UH-1N "Huey" helicopters.

The seventh burn of the SPS system took place on the eighth day, March 10; its purpose was again to aid RCS deorbit capability, as well as extending Gumdrop orbital lifetime. It shifted the apogee of the orbit to the Southern Hemisphere, allowing for a longer free-fall time to entry when Apollo9 returned to Earth. The burn was extended to allow for testing of the propellent gaging system, which had been behaving anomalously during earlier SPS burns. Once it was accomplished, Apollo9's RCS thrusters could have returned it to Earth and still allowed it to land in the primary recovery zone had the SPS engine failed.

The construction of this was delayed by the Market Crash of 1929. With negotiations remaining stagnant, Texas sued New Mexico over the issue in 1935, prompting the intervention of the president who set up the Rio Grande Joint Investigation the findings of which helped lead to the final agreement. The 1938 Rio Grande Compact provided for the creation of a compact commission, the creation of gaging stations along the river to ensure flow amounts by Colorado to New Mexico at the state line and by New Mexico to Elephant Butte Reservoir, the water once there would fall under the regulation of the Rio Grande Project which would guarantee provision to Texas and Mexico. A system of debits and credits was created to account for variations in the water provided.
