Lovetone was a manufacturer of analog effect pedals in England in the 1990s and 2000s. The effects were created by Vlad Naslas and Daniel Coggins, and their pedals were noted for their tongue-in-cheek names like the "Big Cheese" and the "Ring Stinger". Most Lovetone effects replicate a popular vintage analog effect in part, but usually implement the effect in ways not previously seen in smaller so-called "stompbox" effects units. Many Lovetone units are noted for the ability to control multiple parameters of the effect through the use of low frequency oscillators (LFOs), expression pedals, or control voltage (CV)—features more commonly found in analog synthesizers and synthesizer modules.

In these early years the band produced three demos Never Unknown, Bring It On, and Should Have Guessed. The band honed their sound as they introduced a brass section into the proceedings and in 2001 recorded their demo Misuse Of Control. The band’s evolution took them into the altogether harder territory of ska-core pioneered by underground legends like CapDown & Link 80. The band went straight out on the road with Asian Man Records' MU330 on a mammoth UK trek. It wasn’t long after that the band came to the attention of the Big Cheese Magazine offshoot Deck Cheese Records & they joined to their roster in the summer of 2002.

Harry Wicks described Fitzgerald in his book Keeping My Head: > …fearless in debate, he was so confident in his own party case that he would > take on anyone, be they small fry or big cheese. Kerrang! magazine, on the other hand, while still giving the album 3/5 stars, thought that Selfhood was "a slow burn affairs, rather than a petrol bomb through the window, but there's still fire here." Moreover, with this latest album Sharks had moved "squarely into indie-rock territory - more The Smiths than Strummer's gang [The Clash]".

Reviewers praised the album for its combination of Sykes' cathartic and introspective lyrics, and its string section. Big Cheese noted the variety on the album and said it crossed " ... the youthful energy and passion of 2006's Count Your Blessings, the rawness and anthemic nature of 2008's Suicide Season and with more experimentation and savageness than ever before, this is the sound of Bring Me the Horizon going for the throat". The British publication Rock Sound gave the album significant critical acclaim.
In 1997, the stereo "Wobulator" was introduced after an abortive first attempt in 1996 that was never manufactured as it alarmed Coggins who had been testing it using headphones: the released version was deemed to sound 'easier on the brain'. In 1998, the "Ring Stinger" (Ring Modulator/Octave Fuzz) was designed and released in early 1999 along with the Cheese Source (a combination of the Big Cheese and Brown Source) and an updated Mk 2 version of the Doppelganger, which added a few extra features to the earlier design. Power supply connectors were changed around this time from the old-fashioned mini-jack to the more commonplace DC dual concentric barrel variety. Production was generally inconsistent, so after a given pedal's initial run, it might become unavailable for a period of time.

In the prologue, entitled The Past, we are introduced to the three sisters-oldest to youngest: Jojo, a professor who is utterly captivated by her over-seas lover Brecht; Jayne, the systematic big cheese over at Bay Street and the closeted lesbian; and finally Jelly, the self-supporting artist who has a great love for peanut-butter(hence her name being Jelly). We are also introduced to the Torture Dress and the pearls (which are fake). Both of these objects were former possessions of their mother(who was not really their mother at all). Normally played with when the girls played dress up or tea party, she accidentally spilled tea on them when they were little and they have since banned her from ever having a tea party again.
The sale of Lovetone pedals began in 1995. The company ethos, design goals and work was initially shared between the two co-founders, but with Coggins almost solely responsible for the circuit designs and electronics manufacture and with Naslas doing the casework, graphics and sales. The four earliest designs were the "Meatball" (Envelope Filter, May 1995), "Doppelganger" (Phaser/Vibrato, September 1995), "Big Cheese" (Fuzz/Distortion, Summer 1995) and "Brown Source" (Overdrive, Summer 1995); the latter two units were made in a smaller- format housing until later reissued together in 1999 as the two-in-one "Cheese Source" (the world's first stereo-wireable fuzz box?) in the larger-format Lovetone enclosure. A simple black plasticised aluminium sheet pedalboard with cables, power supply and a "Cripple Creek Case Co." bespoke flight case were sometimes issued as extras to this "classic" four-pedal "rig".

The front label of the planned Ratatouille wine to have been promoted by Disney, Pixar, and Costco, and subsequently pulled for its use of a cartoon character Disney and Pixar were working to bring a French-produced Ratatouille-branded wine to Costco stores in August 2007, but abandoned plans because of complaints from the California Wine Institute, citing standards in labelling that restrict the use of cartoon characters to avoid attracting under-age drinkers. In the United Kingdom, in place of releasing a theatrical trailer, a commercial featuring Remy and Emile was released in cinemas before its release to discourage obtaining unlicensed copies of films.
