Adjacent to the Rockway golf course, the gardens occupy a long narrow strip of land alongside King Street as it rushes down to meet the Conestoga Parkway and become Highway 8. Some guidebooks however consider the intermediate Bell Crags (summit unnamed on Ordnance Survey maps) to be a separate fell. A second subsidiary ridge travels north north west from the summit to Great Crag, passing over the twin tops of Coldbarrow Fell. Between these two northern ridges is Blea Tarn. A large pool of about depth,Don Blair: Exploring Lakeland Tarns: Lakeland Manor Press (2003): Blea Tarn provides the main feed for the more famous beauty spot of Watendlath Tarn.

Napoleon Bramble has written a popular guide book to Baluchistan - where every woman wears a beauty spot – and it is selling well. The only problem is that the guide book is a fraud; Bramble has never visited Baluchistan and the book was actually written by a dead friend. The Eastbourne Downland provides a spectacular backdrop to the town. The Imperial Japanese Navy dispatched the to Hong Kong to investigate Moth, and on 1 July 1942, she was refloated and renamed . Suma is a Japanese beauty spot appearing in The Tale of Genji. On 29 July 1943 she fired on US aircraft during an air raid on Hong Kong. Suma was attacked by three 14th Air Force B-25s on 29 December 1943, and by two B-25s the next day receiving some damage, while claiming to kill one B-25.

Shortly after firing at two cyclists, Bird crashed his taxi into several vehicles and a stone wall, damaging a tyre. Briefly continuing onward, he abandoned his car at a beauty spot near Boot, called Doctor Bridge, when the damaged tyre deflated. A nearby family of four, who were unaware of the shootings, offered assistance to Bird, but were quickly turned down and advised to leave. He removed the rifle from his taxi and walked over a bridge leading into Oak How Woods.

Genval- les-Bains is a local beauty spot, a 100-year-old lake with a fountain, and framed by trees, houses and restaurants. Rixensart is home to the beautiful private-owned Château de Rixensart. Rixensart is served by two railway stations (at Rixensart and at Genval), connecting it with Brussels to the north and Louvain-la-Neuve to the south. The new arrival of the Brussels RER, will improve both train stations and upgrade the number of trains going from Brussels to Namur to 4 per hour.

Reggie was the victim of repeated kidnapping attempts by UCL and other London colleges following the Second World War. On one occasion he was transported to Inverness and on another was ignominiously dumped at the Surrey beauty spot of the Devil's Punchbowl. The most notable episode involved his painful emasculation by UCL students armed with a tin opener. Thankfully, he was restored to full working order by a team of engineers and medics and filled with concrete to prevent further kidnap attempts by the Bloomsbury students.

On the reverse is a painting known as Masked Woman with a White Mouse. The subject, a woman in a black face mask, is similarly wearing a dark dress, and made up with white skin with red lips and a black beauty spot, and black hair. Incongruously, a white mouse is passing on a flat surface before her, as if along the edge of a balcony, but she pays it no attention. The painting occupies the slightly smaller space within the stretcher, which frames the composition.

Bryant's Heath A footpath beside the church leads to Bryant’s Heath, a popular local beauty spot and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is unusual in that it encompasses within a relatively small area a mix of dry heath, wet heath, and fen communities. The different soil types have led to a wide range of plants, including several that are now uncommon in East Anglia. The path passes through attractive scenery, and indeed tourism was one of the reasons for the original construction of the line. Popular locations along the route include Thor's Cave, the mill at Wetton Hill and Beeston Tor. A little to the east lies Dovedale, a better-known beauty spot. The Manifold Way does not pass through any significant centres of population; indeed it was once described by a railway worker as a line that started in the middle of nowhere, and ended up in the same place.

Hann Bay sits just north of the industrial area of the Port of Dakar. Once a small fishing village, Hann beach became a local beauty spot near the centre of Dakar. The trees are enamelled in red (coral) orange and yellow. Cliff produced a colourway variation on this by simply changing the trees to shades of blue and pink, and this was then called Rudyard after a local Staffordshire beauty spot. Clarice Cliff's fame and success in the 1930s are hard to fully appreciate now, but at that time there was no such thing as 'career women'.

From its noble battlements, the Wrekin can be seen. The famous moss-carpeted Yew Alley (subject to the devious gravelling schemes of Angus McAllister) leads to a small wood with a rough gamekeeper's cottage, which Psmith made use of, not to write poetry as he at first claimed, but to stash stolen jewellery. Another gamekeeper's cottage, in the West Wood, makes a pleasant home for the Empress of Blandings for a spell. The rose garden is another famous beauty spot, ideal for courting lovers.

In 1885, the area was surveyed and subdivided, as part of the St. Ives division. The creek valley remained unsettled, although the location of the tidal limit was noted and a surveyors' line subsequently became an informal track. It has been, and is, intensively quarried for galena, fluorspar, barytes and, more controversially, limestone. Since Longstone Edge is a noted beauty spot and is within the Peak District National Park there is strong local pressure for quarrying to stop altogether. Some of the quarrying is strictly controlled by the Peak District National Park Authority, which has been conducting a lengthy legal battle to try to stop other quarries that are operating outside the authority's guidelines. Further north is the White Cliff, where the exposed limestone contains fossilised corals.

The tidal limit of the river is at Bebside. The estuary widens from this point eastwards and with the addition of a beck that enters on the northern side (Sleek Burn), it covers an area of . Ecologists have suggested that a dam on the river at Humford Country Park in Bedlington could be removed to allow for fish migration. The local community have expressed a desire to keep the dam as it is a local beauty spot; they have suggested that a fish passage be built alongside instead.

The construction of the plant had a major impact on the local beauty spot Assaroe Falls. The salmon run at the Falls was described by Richard Twiss in 1775 as "a scene of such a singular nature, as is not to be found elsewhere, and is as unique to Ireland as bullfights are to Spain." This was lost when the dam was constructed. It also required the destruction of a late seventeenth-century bridge, a number of nearby country houses including Camlin Castle, Stonewold, Laputa and Cliff House and a number of other dwellings.

Haytor rocks and quarries are protected from development and disturbance as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The area is considered a natural beauty spot and is arguably Dartmoor's most famous landmark, visited by coach parties and walking groups. It is accessible by road and at a height of right on the eastern side of the moor, it provides views of the coastline, the Teign Estuary and the rolling countryside between, with the ridge of Haldon behind. In 2013, Simon Jenkins rated the view from Haytor as one of the top ten in England.

The station closed on 3 June 1950 when the line closed to passenger traffic. The station was named Forge Valley after a local beauty spot to avoid naming it after either of the Ayton villages that it was located near. This was normal practice when another station existed on the network that could be confusing to passengers, in this case Great Ayton, which is on the Middlesbrough to Whitby Line. The station is currently in more workaday use as a road and council highways depot for North Yorkshire County Council.

Craiglich is a hill in western Aberdeenshire, with a height of 476 metres (1562 feet). Its ease of access, Marilyn status and scenic views make it popular with hill walkers. The Queen's View, a local beauty spot at the western end of the hill, was Queen Victoria's favourite viewpoint en route to Balmoral. Situated directly opposite a small car park on the B9119 between Lumphanan and Tarland, it is one of the most accessible viewpoints in north east Scotland, commanding a spectacular panoramic view over the countryside towards Mount Keen, Lochnagar and the Cairngorms.

In pre-war times the Kilner Bank had been a local beauty spot. Industrial activity in the Huddersfield's Leeds Road area, particularly wartime munitions production, had left the Kilner Bank (and the playing fields) contaminated with high concentrations of soil copper. Only the importing of grass able to tolerate high copper concentrations, from Canada, enabled the school to have large sports fields adjacent. The contamination had destroyed most of the tree life on the Kilner Bank and the school participated in an extensive replanting program starting in the early 1970s.

Snighole is a local beauty spot situated in the valley of the River Ogden in the Lancashire village of Helmshore, near Haslingden in the Rossendale Valley. In the local dialect it is pronounced 'snig 'ole'. The Ravenshore viaduct by Snighole is locally known as 'Little Blackpool', and was particularly popular in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century as a bathing place when people had neither the time or resources to travel far for their leisure. In the later part of the twentieth century the river suffered from serious pollution from local industry, although this is now very much improved.

Ladislaus IV succeeded him as King of Hungary; during his minority, many groupings of barons — primarily the Csáks, Kőszegis, and Gutkeleds — fought against each other for supreme power. According to historian Jenő Szűcs, the elderly honored barons, who were made palatines and other chief officials, such Denis Péc, Ernye Ákos, Roland Rátót and Lawrence, son of Kemény were considered stable points and "beauty spot" in the fast- changing governments during the first five regnal years of Ladislaus. Nevertheless, Denis initially belonged to the Kőszegi–Gutkeled–Geregye baronial group, which was dominated by Transdanubian barons and families.

When Bath became popular as a spa town during the Georgian era, Lyncombe Vale was a famous beauty spot often visited by the well-to-do, and Jane Austen visited on one of her stays in the city. A mineral spring was discovered in Lyncombe Vale in 1737 by Mr Charles Milsom, a cooper (after whose son, Milsom Street in Bath was named). When attempting to fix a leaking fishpond he noticed a sulphurous odour, and saw water bubbling up from the ground. He then styled himself as a doctor and invited friends and neighbours to drink it.

The building of the reservoir was started in 1948 with final completion in 1953. The dam head height is listed as being and an old pit at Crathorne was re-opened in 1950 to supply clay to line the dam head. The treatment works were closed down in 2006 after the deterioration of the quality of the water from the moorland and the presence of Cryptosporidium; water is now supplied to Northallerton and Thirsk, and to Osmotherley village, from Thornton Steward Reservoir. The reservoir is surrounded by woodland and just upstream is the local beauty spot called Sheepwash.

View from the Old Light, 1952 The lighthouse also played an important role in the development of tourism on the North Coast (now Sunshine Coast). From as early as the 1880s holiday makers were travelling to Caloundra by boat or by rail to Landsborough then overland to Caloundra and staying in one of the early guesthouses or camping grounds. "Lighthouse Hill" became well known as a lookout and beauty spot, a place to which tourists and visiting dignitaries alike were taken to see the view, and take a photograph from Bulcock's observation platform (which still existed in the early 1900s).

Between 1903 and 1928 he would appear in over two dozen Broadway productions, including musical comedies, straight plays, and operettas, including several stints as Corcoran in HMS Pinafore. In 1907 he would appear in the play The Girl and the Bandit, the most notable fact of which is where he would meet his second wife, Viola Gillette; the two would marry on April 10, 1920. The two would appear in several plays together, including MacFarlane's first big success, 1909's The Beauty Spot. 1913 would see the beginning of his recording relationship with Victor Records, which would last until 1917.

Hindhead is a village in Surrey, England. It is the highest village in Surrey, with buildings at between 185 and 253 metres above sea level.Grid Reference Finder site giving specific elevation It is best known as the location of the Devil's Punch Bowl, a beauty spot and site of special scientific interest, and as the site of the Hindhead crossroads, a formerly notorious congestion spot, where the A3 between Portsmouth and London was crossed by the A287 between Hook and Haslemere. The A3 now passes under Hindhead in the Hindhead Tunnel and its route along the Punch Bowl has been removed and landscaped, but the crossroads still exists for local traffic.

Below the gorge, the valley broadens out into Lonsdale. Bridges over the Lune include the Devil's Bridge near Kirkby Lonsdale and the Lune Millennium Bridge in Lancaster. At Caton, about upstream from Lancaster, there is a cluster of three bridges (one stone road bridge and two disused iron rail bridges now used as foot/cyclepaths) at the Crook o' Lune. Here in a 180-degree right-hand bend the Lune turns back on itself; this is followed by a 90-degree left-hand bend forming the shape of a shepherd's crook and creating a beauty spot which was painted by J. M. W. Turner.

In August 1963 thieves ambushed the Glasgow to Euston mail train in Buckinghamshire and stole over £2m in used, untraceable banknotes in the largest-ever raid on a British train. It became known as The Great Train Robbery. At one stage during the hunt for the thieves, suspicion fell on Winterfold House above Cranleigh where a police raid took place searching for some of the train robbers, but nothing was found. Later in the same vicinity some of the proceeds were discovered: £100,900 in a bag in Redlands Wood, a beauty spot two miles from Dorking, and a further £30,435 in a caravan on Box Hill Surrey.

The village features regularly in the annual Cumbria in Bloom awards and also holds its own open garden festival – the Garden Safari – in late June. Blindcrake Village won the 1999 Environment Millennium Heritage Award (Green Apple Awards) for "The Top Beauty Spot in the British Isles" for the traditional village that retains tradition whilst looking towards the future. The Cotswold Olimpick Games, held annually, were revived in 1966. The Bowling Club, formed in 1987, has adopted certain features – their blazer badge is the silver castle (presented then as a prize in some events) while Robert Dover can be seen on the men's ties. After the liberation of Buda in 1696 Rákospalota became one of the most prosperous villages in the region. Market gardening and agriculture flourished, and two baroque churches were built: one for the Calvinist community (it was demolished at the beginning of the 20th century) and a little Catholic chapel in 1735 on the foundation of the ancient village church. In 1846 the first railway line of Hungary (Pest-Vác) reached Rákospalota, and the Forest of Palota became a popular beauty spot with restaurants and places of entertainment. Next to the station a new suburb grew with nice villas for the rich citizens of Pest.

At the top of the glen the river emerges from the Sulby Reservoir (the largest reservoir in the island). At the bottom of the glen, about 1 km south of the village of Sulby, the river emerges into the island's northern plain. The difficulty of passing the new line under the Esplanade, considered an important beauty spot in Ryde, led to the line being built with a low headroom (at 12 ft 3in); this was to limit the introduction of some traction designs in later years. IoWR trains began working to Ryde Esplanade station on 5 April 1880 and to Ryde Pier Head on 12 July 1880; the horse tramway was shortened to serve the length of the pier only. The new railway did not carry goods traffic. On Friday, 15 December 2006, Rebecca Lewis was sentenced to six years imprisonment for failing to prevent the murder of her 13-month-old son by her boyfriend in Wales. A number of people were charged with this offence in connection with the discovery of a headless and dismembered body (which later proved to be that of Michael Gilbert ) in the Blue Lagoon, Arlesey, Bedfordshire, an English beauty spot. On 23 April 2010 James Watt, his girlfriend Natasha Oldfield, and his brother's girlfriend Nichola Roberts were convicted of murder whilst James's brothers Richard Watt and Robert Watt and his mother Jennifer Smith-Dennis were convicted of the familial homicide of Michael Gilbert.

Road access to Dunethin Rock was improved during the 1950s in response to the rise of motor transport that occurred Australia-wide in this period. The place is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a particular class of cultural places. Dunethin Rock illustrates the principal characteristics of an early beauty spot primarily accessed by means of a river cruise from a seaside resort, including scenic amenity and opportunities for leisure and relaxation. Accommodating picnic tables and seats within a robust timber framed and clad structure, the picnic shed near the summit of the rock is a fine example of this shelter type designed in the 1950s and commonly found in picnic areas in south-east Queensland.

For the first few years of her career she mainly played in musical comedy and operetta, including The Beauty Spot in 1917 and Going Up in 1918. Among her successes during the 1920s were Phi-Phi (1922), Madame Pompadour (1923), The Dollar Princess, Blue Eyes (1928) and Lilac Time. Laye made her Broadway debut in 1929 in the American première of Noël Coward's Bitter Sweet and appeared in several early Hollywood film musicals.

She adored the area and was critical of the kind of development then taking place in Lilliput and Poole-Parkstone- Bournemouth which she thought soulless, and far from the 'garden city' it could be. Aside from an enclave behind Evening Hill, a local beauty spot with panoramic views over Poole Harbour, modern development started in the later 1920s as more of the older estates were sold for suburban projects. A number of distinctive art-deco homes were built, including the landmark Salterns Court building at the new shopping parade. Before its development as a residential and recreational area there had been industrial projects at Salterns, which had been the district's local name.

Privatisation in 1993 has seen the infrastructure fall under the remit of Railtrack to 2010 and Network Rail thereafter while Freight Operating Companies (FOC) organise banking for the relatively small proportion of heavy freights that now require it.

During Ladislaus' minority, many groupings of barons — primarily the Csáks, Kőszegis, and Gutkeleds — fought against each other for supreme power. According to historian Jenő Szűcs, the elderly honored barons, who were made palatines and other chief officials, such Denis Péc, Ernye Ákos and Roland Rátót were considered stable points and "beauty spot" in the fast-changing governments during the first five regnal years of Ladislaus. It is not possible to decide which baronial group Ernye belonged to. His influence increased further in November of that year when duke Béla of Macsó was assassinated and the barons partitioned the territory of the Duchy of Macsó among themselves. Ernye Ákos received the title of ban of Só and Ozora in 1273, replacing Henry I Kőszegi from the Héder clan.

When the story was adapted for television, it was heavily edited and was noted for not bearing much resemblance to the original book. For example, the murder victim was now known as Ellie Clayton; Ellie was last seen leaving her local theatre group, rather than her school; her body was found a popular beauty spot at Valley's Edge, rather that in the local cemetery; Ellie's father is an internet entrepreneur, rather than an industrialist; and the suspects are her father's business partner, her father, her on-off one-man crime spree boyfriend; and her theatre tutor; rather than a vicar, his wife, or an ex-girlfriend of the accused. The episode was also heavily reminiscent of DC Ken Blackstone's actions, rather than Jimmy Riddle.

By the turn of the century, Catherine Hill Bay's reputation as a "picturesque" beauty spot had been added to its underlying identity as a scene of industrial prosperity and occasional labour unrest. The township continued to grow and prosper through the first quarter of the 20th Century with expanding public services, a Court House, a School of Arts and a Brass Band. By 1908, miner's residences and mine-related services expanded to Middle Camp, a short distance up the bay, location of a pit-head and a large plant. In 1915, Catherine Hill Bay Public School, too, was shifted to Middle Camp, acknowledging this community as the new focus of Company development. In August, 1917, miners at Catherine Hill Bay struck in sympathy with striking Railway workers.

Immediately after the assassination, Henry Kőszegi has made an alliance with Joachim Gutkeled and the Geregye brothers, forming one of the two main baronial groups, while the other one was dominated by the Csák and Monoszló clans. During the nominal regency of Queen Elizabeth the Cuman, both sides wished to take part in the exercise of power. The rivalry between the two parties characterized the following years. According to historian Bálint Hóman, twelve "changes of government" took place in the first five regnal years of Ladislaus IV. Temple of Clitumnus thumb The Clitunno, in Antiquity the Clitumnus, is a river in Umbria, Italy. The name is of uncertain origin, but it was also borne by the river god. The Clitunno rises at from a spring within a dozen metres of the ancient Via Flaminia near the town of Campello sul Clitunno between Spoleto and Trevi: the spring was celebrated as a great beauty spot by the Romans but also by Byron and Giosuè Carducci; in the 19th century it was planted with willows, and zealously monitored for pollution, it is open today as a paying tourist attraction. The Clitunno then flows, generally north, through the east Umbrian plain, past the Temple of Clitumnus and the towns of Pissignano, Cannaiola and Trevi, to join the Timia, a tributary of the Topino, near Bevagna.

Approximately five kilometres southeast of the township of Yandina, the beauty spot of Dunethin Rock stands on the south bank of the Maroochy River to the east edge of Lake Dunethin. North of the Yandina-Bli Bli Road at the termination of Dunethin Rock Road, the rocky outcrop provides opportunities for taking in sweeping panoramas from the Blackall Range to the coast. Features within these panoramas include the mountains of Ninderry Range, Mount Coolum and Cooroy Mountain, areas of lush vegetation, sugar cane fields and farmland and the winding course of the meandering Maroochy River. The flat area below the rocky outcrop runs along the river bank and beside the lake and accommodates a concrete boat ramp, small timber jetty and adjoining timber framed picnic shelter with concrete slab floor, concrete picnic tables, and a toilet block (these structures are not part of the heritage listing).

Over the next decade two cinemas were built at the lower end of the site, the Empire and Ritz cinemas, while the upper end was used as the Princes Gardens with a car park between it and the cinemas.Cole, pgs215-6 The Aldershot Gazette and Military News welcomed the new Princes Gardens which had turned land that had been “an almost desolate waste” into “a beauty spot” which would be “more restful to the eye than the old barren promontory” left after the removal of the Royal Engineers’ Yard.

By May 1273, Roland Rátót was replaced as Palatine and Ban by Lawrence, son of Kemény, an ally of the Kőszegi family, and Egyed Monoszló, respectively, however in the next month, he was again Palatine and held the dignity at least until October, when he was removed from office by the Kőszegis, alongside other members of the Csák baronial group. Roland gradually moved away from the Kőszegis' course line in the following months. Following the Battle of Föveny in September 1274, where Henry Kőszegi was killed, Roland defected to the supporters of the Csák kindred, and could manage to become Palatine for a fourth term.

Lawrence held the dignity of Palatine until around November 1272, when he was replaced by Roland Rátót. After Stephen's death, Lawrence belonged to the favourites of Queen Elizabeth, whose person was both neglected by the two parties. When she temporarily regained her lost influence over the royal council due to Ottokar's invasion in the spring of 1273, Lawrence was appointed Palatine for the third time sometime around May 1273. Beside that he was also ispán of Sopron (1272–1273), Baranya and Orbász counties (1273). When the Kőszegi family and their allies deprived Elizabeth and his courtiers from the power in June 1273, Lawrence lost his positions – he was again replaced by Roland Rátót – and never regained his influence again.

Ntumbachushi is notable not just for the main falls, however, but for a series of smaller falls and pools stretching for a distance of more than 2 km above the main falls, in a landscape described by many as among the most beautiful in central Africa, with unusual vegetation, rocky outcrops and views over the Luapula valley. The water of the Ngona is filtered by the wetlands (locally called dambos) out of which it drains and is exceptionally clear, affording safe river swimming considered by many visitors to be the best in Zambia. The falls are 22 km from Mbereshi on the tarred Kawambwa road and are reached via a 1 km spur which turns off at the bottom of the escarpment and approaches the bottom of the main falls. A steep path 20 m on the north side of the main falls leads up and over the rocky cliff and continues for 0.5 km to a place nicknamed 'the beauty spot' consisting of two pools below a falls of about 6 m high and 25 m wide in two sections.
