It didn't take long for Ruggiero to get his solo career started during breaks from The Slackers. A multi-instrumentalist and pioneering producer, the New York-based singer-songwriter continues to astound audiences with his trademark vocal chops, command of keys and edgy brand of bluesy rock n roll as a one-man band. When on the road by himself, Ruggiero primarily plays guitar, harmonica and percussion. Ruggiero has released several acoustic solo albums in the U.S., including Understanding New Jersey & Living in Sin, Alive at the Ladybug House, On the Rag Time, Something in My Blindspot and THIS Two songs on the latter ("Lonely Nites" and "Innocent Girl") were re- recorded in July 2007 for the album Something in My Blindspot.

Media response to Tribute to the Music of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys was overwhelmingly positive. Writing about the album for The Tennessean, country journalist Robert K. Oermann suggested that the band had "prove[d] that the diversity, flexibility and breadth of Bob's western-swing sound can still astound young listeners," praising the added "star-power" of the featured artists. Similarly, Indianapolis Star columnist John Hawn wrote that "bandleader Ray Benson has outdone himself here by recruiting a diverse group of 18 musicians ... All perform within the framework of Bob Wills-style fiddlin' and yodelin', yet all inject their personalities". Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho shows the daily lives of the filmmakers, who believed they were making a modestly budgeted, black-and-white shocker, representing a radical departure from the elegant, suspenseful films that had made director Hitchcock's reputation, including Rope, Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, The Man Who Knew Too Much, and North by Northwest. The project, which Hitchcock tackled in part to compete with financially successful, low- budget, youth-oriented horror movies, went on to astound many by becoming a cultural watershed, an international box-office success, a film classic, and a forerunner of the violent, disorienting films and real-events of the turbulent 1960s and '70s.
