While there is not one town in Eastern NC that can claim to be the indisputable "capital" of Eastern North Carolina barbecue, the medium-sized cities of Greenville and Goldsboro and their surrounding communities boast the highest concentrations of highly ranked establishments. The annual Newport Pig Pickin' (the largest whole pig cooking contest in North Carolina) is held featuring primarily eastern-style barbecue.

Douglas became aligned with the "whole hog" Democrats, who strongly supported President Jackson. In 1834, with the support of the Democratic state legislator who represented Jacksonville, Douglas was elected as the State's Attorney for the First District, which encompassed eight counties in western Illinois.Morris (2008), p. 15 Douglas quickly became uninterested in practicing law, choosing instead to focus on politics. He helped arrange the first-ever state Democratic convention in late 1835, and the convention pledged to support Jackson's chosen successor, Martin Van Buren, in the 1836 presidential election. In 1836, he won election to the Illinois House of Representatives, defeating Whig Party candidate John J. Hardin.

Pork Shoulder Event Judging The competition has three official meat categories: rib, shoulder and whole hog. There is also the Patio Porkers division, which encourages up to 40 amateur teams (who have not previously won the Patio Porker division in the WCBCC) to enter. Only wood and charcoal cooking is allowed at the event, no gas or any other sort of heat system is allowed to be used. Beyond those main categories, teams also compete in several other ancillary contests over the four-day event, including: Best Sauce (Tomato/Mustard/Vinegar), Frank's Red Hot Hot Wings, Kingsford Tour of Champions and Anything But (Exotic/Beef/Seafood/Poultry).

The flavor of the ti leaf is what differentiates kālua pig from other methods of cooking a whole hog slowly using a hardwood fire. Kālua pig is a main tourist attraction at many lūʻau, though it is sometimes made using a gas or electric stove with artificial mesquite or kiawe liquid smoke. Other tourist businesses use substitutes instead of vegetation or use an imu pao, an above ground variation of the imu. The term "kālua pork" has been used by Hawaiian cook Sam Choy to describe pork shoulder butt which is rubbed with sea salt, wrapped in ti leaves, and slowly cooked in an oven using liquid mesquite smoke rather than an imu.

During the 1990s, Goldsmith worked in the fashion industry and, after 2000, engaged in environmental activism undertaking a variety of green initiatives starting with an organic food business that she ran in London until 2002. In 2007, she edited a guide to eco-friendly living, A Slice of Organic Life: Get Closer to the Soil Without Going the Whole Hog, which she followed a year later by publishing a how-to guide for celebrating Christmas in an environmentally friendly way, called A Greener Christmas. In June 2013, she launched a "concept jewelry" label Loquet London with her friend and model Laura Bailey.

Birt is an active cross-bencher in the House of Lords, speaking out in 2011 and 2012 in favour of government's proposed Health and Social Care Bill. Birt's special interests include the Media/ Broadcasting/ Communications Industry, Climate Change/ Environment, Criminal Justice and Education In 2013 Birt voiced his opinion to the House of Lords about his views on the Gay Marriage bill stating ‘this bill goes the whole hog and rightly allows gay couples, if they wish, to make the powerful statements of love and commitment that marriage proclaims. If gay couples want that option, they should have it.’ In 2014 Birt showed his support for the assisted dying legislation, in the House of Lords debate, in which participants were evenly split.

Two bills that would have introduced Lexington Style as the de facto barbecue type of the state met controversy and failure in the State House of Representatives and State Senate in 2006, North Carolina House Bill 21NC House Bill 21 and North Carolina Senate Bill 47.NC Senate Bill 47 Eastern style uses all of the meat from the pig (whole hog), or as it is more informally explained, it uses, '"every part of the hog except the squeal".

Her illusions are shattered however after Cousin Barnaby starts complaining about young love birds, and having realised that her plans are not working out as expected Olive spins a web of lies, splitting the young couple up and inflicting misery and pain on both of them.

Barbecue meats and sausage at a restaurant in Texas Texas barbecue was influenced by the cooking technique barbacoa, a method of slow cooking meat that has been wrapped in leaves in a covered pit. In the 19th century, cowboys developed techniques to cook the tough beef from range cattle over coals and colonial style open pit barbecue was brought to the state when blacks arrived from the southeast, but later developed into closed pit Western-style barbecue which uses indirect heat instead of coals and imparts a smokier flavor. Near the end of the century immigrants from Germany and eastern Europe introduced their own distinctive culinary traditions, including sausage making, marked by bold and sometimes piquant spicing and coarser texture, which became part of Texan barbecue culture and smoked sausage remains a popular dish at Western- style barbecues.The Oxford Companion to American Food Early American traditional whole hog barbecues and later rib barbecues were prepared with pork, and Texas is among a handful of states that develop an early preference for beef barbecue, though goat is used as well.

8-Ball TV Guide cover featuring Dawn Riddle of MTV12. 8-Ball launched its online public access television station on January 20, 2017, playing Aldo Tambellini’s piece “Inauguration ’81” while Donald Trump was getting sworn in as president. 8-Ball described the station as a “free platform for, of, and by the people” with “no censorship, no prejudice, no hierarchy, no advertisements, no limits.” 8-Ball TV’s content includes original series, submitted videos, and footage of interviews and protests. The station has aired Angela Davis’ 1972 interview from California State Prison, footage of protests in New York and Standing Rock, a video countdown show called MTV 12, interviews with East Village residents, short films by Look At My Black Beauty (LAMBB), Hello Kitty’s Alice in Wonderland, “cam-girl pseudo- porn and a video that shows how to skin a whole hog.” According to amNY, “the only thing 8-Ball [TV] won’t allow is branded or commercial content.” TANK Magazine likened the station’s programming to the 1970s downtown New York television show TV Party, “known for its decadent raucousness as much as its dissident outlook.” 8-Ball TV has exhibited in Milan, São Paulo, and Tokyo.
