Vomitory is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1989 by guitarist Urban Gustafsson and bassist Ronnie Olson. The band released a total of eight albums, all released on Metal Blade Records. After breaking up in 2013 and reuniting for a one-off show in 2017, Vomitory officially reformed in 2018.

Bassist, Michael Håkansson was also announced as being no longer a part of the band following his absence from the band's previous album 'The Lustrate Process'. The bass from that point has been taken care of by Lord K Philipson. A third member, drummer Thomas Ohlsson was replaced by ex-Vomitory/Torture Division drummer Tobias 'Tobben' Gustafsson. 2014 brought another set of changes to The Project Hate.

Guitarist Ulf Dalegren joined on guitar in 1991, after releasing a demo, the band had their debut single, "Moribund", released by Swiss label Witchhunt Records.

In support of it the band went on tour with Marduk and Vader, taking part in No Mercy Festival. its first American tour in autumn 2001 though had to be cancelled (due to the September 11 attacks) and was held later, in January 2002, without Marduk, Amon Amarth headlining. In April 2002 the band toured Europe with Vomitory and in August performed at Wacken Open Air before 12.000 metal fans.

In 2010, accompanying the release of The Great Awakening they toured with veteran Florida death metal act Resurrection, known as the Resurrected in Europe tour. As 2011 came, George Arguello would quit performing live guitarist duties, leading Solace of Requiem to hire Richard Gulczynski (PA). Gulczynski was known as the touring bass player for Decapitated and is also currently a guitarist for Single Bullet Theory. The band then embarked on a 24 date European tour named the No End to Suffering tour, opening for Vomitory and Prostitute Disfigurement.

A thrust stage at the Pasant Theatre A thrust stage is one that extends into the audience on three sides and is connected to the backstage area by its upstage end. A thrust has the benefit of greater intimacy between the audience and performers than a proscenium while retaining the utility of a backstage area. Entrances onto a thrust are most readily made from backstage, although some theatres provide for performers to enter through the audience using vomitory entrances. An arena, exposed on all sides to the audience, is without a backstage and relies entirely on entrances in the house or from under the stage.

Both the guitars and the bass are tuned down one whole-step (guitars are tuned to D), to achieve a heavier sound. The drumming is extremely fast, often making use of blast beats and double bass. During their time together, the band toured the UK and Europe extensively with acts such as Nile, Decapitated, Cryptopsy, Vomitory and Pungent Stench, visited the US to play at Maryland Deathfest in 2007, and appeared in an advert for The Sun newspaper, as well as on the soundtrack to two films, namely The Incredibly Strange People Show and Porn of the Dead, a zombie- themed hardcore pornography release. Ben Goreskin and Tim Carley renamed the band The Rotted in 2008 when their new material took on more of a Death metal/Punk vibe and continued to tour and record until splitting in 2014.

The Project Hate MCMXCIX was formed in 1999 by long-time friends Lord K Philipson (formerly of Leukemia, House of Usher, Lame, Toolshed, Torture Division, as well as doing session work as live bassist/guitarist for Candlemass, Vomitory, Dark Funeral and Grave over the years) and Jörgen Sandström (previously of Vicious Art, Krux, Entombed, Grave, Torture Division and live bassist/guitarist for Candlemass, Misery Loves Co, Kongh, to name a few). TPH recorded a three-song demo in the end of 1998, produced by famous producer Dan Swanö and featuring backing vocals by Entombed A.D. vocalist Lars Göran Petrov. The demo was sent out to four labels and in 1999 they signed with the Germany-based Massacre Records, making 1999 the official starting year as things took off from there. In 1998, the band recorded a Philipson-conceived project, Deadmarch: Initiation of Blasphemy, but the album initially never saw the light of day.

This one hit the stores in August and several months later Osmose Productions released this one worldwide. October 2002 Lost Soul took part in Thrash'em All Festival, playing in ten biggest Polish cities with Monstrosity, Vomitory, Trauma, Dissenter, Sceptic and Contempt. Soon after due to personal reasons Krzysztof Artur Zagórowicz left the band. Paweł Michałowski took over bass duties and with this addition to the line-up Lost Soul played Hell Festival together with KAT and Ancient Rites among others. 2003 is the year of another tour – this time with Hell-Born and Quo Vadis and appearance on famous Metalmania Festival together with Samael, Marduk, Vader, Saxon and Malevolent Creation. Piotr Ostrowski - former Lost Soul's guitar player during the concert, 11 September 2005. On 3 March 2003 Übermensch (Death of God) was released worldwide and Lost Soul embarked on Empire Invasion Tour with Dies Irae, Hate and Esqarial. After that tour Paweł Michałowski left the band and was replaced by old member returning to the band - Tomasz Fornalski.

Thomas Bergqvist replaced Sund on bass, and the band released their second demo in 1994. They were signed by Fadeless Records of the Netherlands, the label released their debut album, Raped in Their Own Blood. Vocalist Jussi Linna and bassist Erik Rundqvist replaced Olson and Bergqvist prior to the recording of the band's second album, Redemption, the first to be released in the United States when it was issued on the Pavement label.Huey, Steve "Redemption Review", Allmusic.
