A new school had been built in nearby Margam in 1973, while the Beulah Chapel was dismantled and rebuilt in the nearby Tollgate Park.
Batesford was originally the site of a ford over the Moorabool River. The first bridge at Batesford was built by the Corio and Bannockburn shire councils in 1846. Provided with a tollgate, the wooden bridge was located upstream from the ford, and collapsed in 1847. It was again rebuilt in wood in 1848, and was damaged by flood in 1852 and later repaired.
The first school district in Aurora was created at the request of William Smith by the Arapahoe County School Superintendent around 1885. It was known as Arapahoe County District #28 by 1907, and later Aurora School District. The Choctaw Nation had awarded Geary the privilege of building a bridge and tollgate at the Little Boggy crossing on the Fort Smith-Boggy Depot Road in 1858, which later became the route of the Butterfield Overland Mail stage. Geary's Station is listed by the Oklahoma Historical Society as an Oklahoma Historic Site. The actual site has been inundated by the Atoka Reservoir.
In that year they became the first public school since the 2004 Tollgate High School hockey team to beat Mount St. Charles Academy. Coventry High School Basketball program has a storied history starting in the 1950s with the likes of Ted Szymcowic and Dick "Bevo" Gaudett leading the team. Ted Syzmcowicz coached the team to a championship in the 79-80 season.
Most of the farmland and open spaces present in the mid-20th century have been developed. The exceptions include the Tollgate Farm located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Twelve Mile and Meadowbrook Roads. This farmstead is owned by the Americana Foundation and is currently leased and operated by Michigan State University as an agricultural extension. Lakeshore Park is another prominent natural area.
The borough has a road network of more than . Worthing's remoteness from London and the major roads and coach routes of Sussex was alleviated in 1803, when a turnpike was opened between the seafront and West Grinstead via Findon. A tollgate stood near the present Teville Gate shopping centre between 1804 and 1845. Other tollgates in Goring, Heene and East Worthing served later turnpikes in those areas.
MD 924 was assigned to the old alignment of MD 24 between Edgewood and the Bel Air Bypass when MD 24 was moved to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway in 1987. In autumn 2008, the Maryland Transportation Authority began a project to build a diamond interchange at MD 24's junction with MD 924 and Tollgate Road just north of I-95. The interchange opened in 2011.
The development received a BREEAM rating of "excellent", in part for recycling 90% of the waste generated during demolition on the site. The project was part of a greater redevelopment of Bristol city centre. In 2009, the council was ordered to pay £4.5 million to Ridgeland Properties Ltd, former owners of Tollgate House, after the compulsory purchase price was determined to be too low.
121, s. 1. Exit 8A originally had an exit ramp from the tollgate to Route 32 west. However, this was changed due to heavy congestion at the ramp. The turnpike ramp to Route 32 westbound was closed off but leaving most of the old pavement in place, creating a stub ramp. In its place, a new, two-lane ramp to County Route 535 was built.

The R36 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects the N1 (between Louis Trichardt and Polokwane) with Ermelo, via Tzaneen and Lydenburg. It is co-signed with the N4 for 8 kilometres between Machadodorp and Patattanek, with a tollgate on this section. It used to extend further south past Ermelo to Amersfoort, but this is now designated as part of the N11.

Grid reference The history of the hamlet of Efailwen is associated with the Rebecca Riots. On 13 May 1839, the tollgate at Efailwen was the first to be attacked in what would later become known as the Rebecca Riots, an uprising by poor farmers to abolish what they believed was unfair taxation. Efailwen has a school (Ysgol Beca) serving surrounding settlements, a roadside eatery and a number of domestic dwellings.
One version is that it was named after the 6th tollgate on the Grand River toll road (No. VI). However, the township was named in 1832 and the toll road wasn't constructed until the 1850s. A similar claim is made about the township being stop number 6 on the railroad. However, the railroad was not constructed through the township until 1870 - 1871, almost 40 years after it was named.

The metre gauge Solingen city tramway began operations on December 30, 1896 by the Union-Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft (UEG) from Berlin. The first route began by Stöckerberg near the tollgate, and down cologne street to the Südbahnhof, service began on June 7, 1897. Another line followed the same day, beginning at Neumarkt near the Kaiserstraße, next to Schützenstraße and down Burger Straße to Krahenhöhe it was 2.4 kilometers in length.

Skansbron in September 2011. Skansbron (Swedish: "The Fortlet Bridge") is a bascule bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching over the canal Hammarbykanalen, it connects the major island Södermalm to the southern mainland district Södra Hammarbyhamnen. Before the lake Hammarbysjön was transformed into a canal in the 1920s, Skanstull, the southern tollgate of the city, was surrounded by fortifications, including a moat over which a simple wooden bridge led into the city.

There are several farms located in and around the village, notably Osbaston House Farm, a goat farm which dates back to 1908 situated on the edge of the National Forest. A dental practice and a corner shop are located in the area around the former Osbaston Tollgate in which borders the neighbouring village of Barlestone. There is also a public house, The Gate Inn, situated in Osbaston Hollow.
On 6 April 1837, the 3rd Marquess of Waterford and his hunting party went on a "spree" through the streets of Melton, causing much damage. This event was recorded in the London Examiner. Henry Alken's pictures A Spree at Melton Mowbray and Larking at the Grantham Tollgate are said to illustrate the event. They appeared also in a play called The Meltonians at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in 1838.
After losing the title Champion of England in 1857 to Tom Sayers he became landlord of the Bricklayer's Arms, Walsall Road, Wolverhampton. According to some of his obituaries, he became a jobbing contractor, occasionally displaying his former skills in gloved encounters only. He died at his home, Old Tollgate House, Bilston of alcoholism and pulmonary congestion on 24 December 1880 and was buried at St John's Church, Dudley.
There are a number of ancient burial mounds in the general vicinity and a previous site of a windmill. An old private tollgate still stands and is now used as a holiday cottage. Croesgoch lies on one of the pilgrimage routes to St David's cathedral. St John's Church, Hedge EndSt John's Rooms, Hedge End The development of two new roads to serve the toll bridges at Northam and Woolston brought travellers closer to Hedge End. Northam road was opened in 1799, with a tollgate at Hedge End. In 1839, another new road was built to provide access to the Floating Bridge at Woolston. This new road cut through the centre of Botley Common, opening the way for further development.

History of the City of Madras In the early days, it was known as a suburb after the tollgate (near Pachaiyappa's College). Now, it is a central part of Chennai which links the residential Anna Nagar to the central business district of Chennai. The locale has always been referred to as a neighborhood of New Windsor. In the 19th century, it became known as Vail's Gate, after John D. Vail, a former postmaster and keeper of the Blooming Grove Turnpike tollgate. For the same reason, it was also earlier called Tooker's Gate. Vail served as the first postmaster of the New Windsor post office, established on April 10, 1850, being named the Mortonville Post Office.
The new bridge, which became the only crossing between Cumberland and Washington, D.C. to survive the flood of March 1936, charged tolls from a tollgate at the West Virginia end of the bridge. By the start of the 20th century nailing had moved to central Birmingham factories, ceasing to be a cottage industry. Also nearby were a number of grain mills on the banks of the River Rea, where locally grown corn and wheat was ground. Northfield was on the main road between Birmingham and Worcester. In 1762 this route was turnpiked and the Northfield tollgate was on the site of the modern-day corner of Rochester Road.

The N3 then continues north & bypasses Heidelberg before heading towards Johannesburg. On approaching Johannesburg, the N3 passes the townships of Katlehong and Vosloorus before bypassing Alberton. The Stamford Hill and Green Lanes Turnpike Trust erected a toll gate on Green Lanes by Duckett's Common, near Turnpike Lane in 1765. For the next 27 years this was the only tollgate on Green Lanes, at which time the Manor House toll gate was set up, along with others outside of the Harringay area. The turnpike system on Green Lanes was abandoned in 1872. Photographs of both the "Manor House" and "Duckett's Common" turnpikes still exist today.

W. Suji IC Yongin–Seoul Expressway (, part of Expressway 171) is an expressway in South Korea, connecting Yongin, Gyeonggi and Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Informally known as the Gyeongsu Expressway(), it is the only expressway in South Korea not directly connected to another expressway. Although it shares the same designation number, it is not directly connected to Osan-Hwaseong Expressway either. Plans have been made to connect the Busan side of Gyeongbu Expressway and Yongin-side Geumto Tollgate.
The trail passes through the Devil's Tollgate formation below Taum Sauk Mountain. The general route of the Ozark Trail is determined by the Ozark Trail Council, which was formed by seven governmental agencies including the National Forest Service, the Missouri State Parks Department, the Missouri Conservation Commission, et al., plus several environmental groups and a private landowner with significant holdings. The land manager for each parcel held by these constituents is responsible for the trail within its holdings.
North of Woodstock, Highway 59 proceeds due north through the communities of Perry Lane, Tollgate, Willow Lake, Huntingford, Strathallan and Hickson before eventually curving northeast near the Oxford–Perth boundary to pass through the town of Tavistock, turning north. Approximately north of Tavistock, the route ends in the town of Shakespeare at an intersection with the concurrent routes of Highway 7 and Highway 8\. North of this intersection, the roadway continues as Perth County Road 107.
Three of the 100 listed buildings and structures in the borough of Crawley are in Northgate. Boscobel House is at the south end of London Road close to where it becomes Crawley High Street, very close to the former Northgate tollgate. The building, which is now an office, was built as a two- storey timber-framed cottage in the late 17th century and was given a brick and tile façade a century later. The roof is also tiled.

Honor Blackman, best known for her appearances in the James Bond film Goldfinger, was born in Plaistow, as were actors Jimmy Akingbola, Ron Pember and Roberta Taylor and comedian, actress and playwright Andi Osho. Aaron Hill, writer and dramatist, lived at Hyde House during his retirement and until his death in 1750. William Holl the Younger, noted portrait and figure engraver, was born in Plaistow in 1807.
Thompson's Station has historically been a residential community, but growth in recent years has made the area more attractive to larger businesses. The Mars Regional Innovation Center was built off Columbia Pk and State Route 840 in late 2014. Several properties have been purchased as local event centers (Graystone Quarry/Homestead Manor) with plans for Graystone Quarry to build a 5,000+ seat amphitheater. Spurring the growth are 3 large residential subdivisions: Bridgemore Village, Fields of Canterbury and Tollgate Village.

It connects satellite cities around Seoul, Ilsan, Namyangju, Hanam, Pyeongchon, Jungdong, Bundang, Pangyo, Sanbon and Gimpo. The expressway runs 127.6 km. Seoul Ring Expressway is currently under construction to widen the expressway between Anhyeon Junction to Seongnam which is expected to be finished in 2016.
Bounds Green is an area in the north of London, in the London Borough of Haringey. Parts of Bounds Green are also known as New Southgate, but most of New Southgate lies in the London Borough of Enfield to the north west. It forms the north-western part of Wood Green. Bounds Green was originally formed as a popular overnight stop-over for travellers, located on the then outskirts of London, just short of the tollgate at Turnpike Lane.
In 1904, knowing that he was terminally ill, Cowan conceived another media hoax connected to the Viking hoax of his youth. He contracted a local carpenter, John Walthour, to build him a model of a fire ship, the funeral vessel of Vikings chiefs. He then gave instructions to be buried beneath a tree at the summit Tollgate Hill, from which he would sail symbolically "over the Sea of Appalachia . . . ." Cowan died in Greensburg and was buried in St. Clair Cemetery.
Among the dead Federals was the civilian toll keeper who perished near his tollgate. Raiders killed a Lutheran minister, Reverend Peter Glenn, on his farm, from the battlefield, and stole horses from several other farmers. General Morgan led his division into Corydon, where he paroled his demoralized prisoners and ransomed the town for cash and supplies. Morgan's soldiers then traveled east and reached Vienna on July 10, where they burned a railroad bridge and depot, and tapped a telegraph line.
Before the building of Cabot Circus the site contained post war shopping units and part of the A4044 Bristol inner ring road. Tollgate House and its car park were also demolished, for the re-aligned part of the ring road and the Cabot Circus car park. Many old streets were wiped off the map, although these had long been devoid of their houses. Opening day, The original chosen name 'Merchants Quarter' came under criticism due to its associations to the slave trade.
SR 276 begins at an intersection with West Main Street and 5th Street in downtown Williamsburg. In this area, SR 133 is routed along West Main Street; Fifth Street west of here and Main Street east of here formerly carried SR 32 before it was rerouted onto the Corridor D expressway in the 1970s. SR 133 and SR 276 travel concurrently heading northwest through Williamsburg. After , SR 133 turns north onto Tollgate Road leaving SR 276 to continue northwest into Williamsburg Township.
The Five Rivers Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool, which was opened in 2002, is located just outside the ring road. Salisbury Racecourse is a flat racing course to the south-west of the city. Five Rivers Indoor Bowls Club and Salisbury Snooker Club share a building on Tollgate Road, behind the College. Old Sarum Airfield, north of the city centre, is home to a variety of aviation-based businesses, including flying schools and the APT Charitable Trust for disabled flyers.
A tollgate stood in the village for many years. The turnpike cottage was demolished in the 1930s but is still seen as emblematic of the village, so much so that it is the basis of the recent village sign placed on the green. Sue Short has written a book about the history of the village titled Pratts Bottom: A Journey Through Life. Pratt's Bottom was declared to be the 'sister city' of Wellington, New Zealand in 2009 by then-Mayor, Kerry Prendergast.

Woodville is a suburban village and civil parish that crosses two districts - South Derbyshire district of Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire district of Leicestershire, England, east of Swadlincote, of which it is now effectively a suburb. At the 2011 Census, the parish had a population of 5,161, an increase from 3,420 at the 2001 Census. The centre of the village, known as the Tollgate, is a busy traffic island on the A511. Woodville forms part of the border with Leicestershire.

It had short overlaps with Route 117 and Route 5, both of which have been eliminated with interchanges. For a brief time during the construction of the Route 10 freeway, Route 2 left Reservoir Avenue in Cranston and turned north onto the current Route 10 freeway, ending at the Olneyville exit.
The name Amber Gate was originally applied to the tollgate for the Nottingham turnpike, but adopted by the North Midland Railway for Ambergate railway station which is located on the Derby-Matlock Derwent Valley Line. The turnpike to Matlock was opened in 1818. Until then the main road from Belper northwards had been through Wirksworth and such traffic as there was, would have been mainly cotton from Arkwright's Mill at Cromford. However, the Cromford Canal, opened in 1794, also passes the village.
In March 1812, Lot 30 in York Township, a parcel of land, was granted to James Brock, a cousin of Sir Isaac Brock along with other parcels of land. This lot was a strip of land that stretched from Lot Street, today's Queen Street, north to Bloor Street, west of Dufferin Avenue. 'Appii Forum', three taverns on Dundas Street at the tollgate in 1893. After Brock died, his widow Lucy Brock inherited his estate and she began selling the lands that Brock owned.
The site () is off Tollgate Hill in the south of Broadfield. The council-owned land had been used as a Girl Guides campsite, which will be relocated to Tilgate Park. A planning application was lodged in August 2015. At the time the New Town was designated, cremation was becoming more popular, and an site was set aside for a crematorium in the middle of Forge Wood (), between the Balcombe Road and the London–Brighton main railway line in the Pound Hill area.
The Captain William Bull Tavern is located in northeastern Litchfield, on the north side of Torrington Road (United States Route 202) between Tollgate Road and Wilson Road. It is a three-story wood frame structure, with a gambrel roof, central chimney, and clapboarded exterior. The main facade is five bays wide, with a center entrance topped by a five-light transom window and cornice. A second entrance, dating to the period of the building's move in the 1920s, is located on the west side.
The cloverleaf is also connected to Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City through Segment 8.1 of NLEx, which also links Manila to NLEx. km 28 NLEx Interchange is also known as Malinta Exit due to its proximity to barangay Malinta, as well as Tollgate to residents. NLEX Segment 9 is a four lane, 2.42 kilometer expressway that runs from the SMART Connect Interchange to MacArthur Highway in Karuhatan. This segment opened to traffic on March 18, 2015, and a part of C-5 Road North Extension.
As it runs through the whole Pianura Padana, which is a densely populated and highly industrialized area, A4 is one of the most trafficked motorways of Italy. A4 is a dual-carriageway, six-lane motorway for most of its length. The stretch between Milano Est tollgate and Bergamo has been an eight-lane motorway since 30 September 2007. The stretch from Venice to Trieste is instead still a four- lane motorway, but it is planned to upgrade this stretch over motorway to six lanes.
Deokcheon IC, Busan North Busan Tollgate, 2009 Chirwon JCT, 2013 Sanin JCT, 2012 The Namhae Expressway(Korean: 남해고속도로, Namhae Gosok Doro) is a freeway in South Korea, connecting Yeongam to Suncheon, Gwangyang, Jinju, Changwon and Busan. It was opened in 1973 with Honam Expressway's Jeonju - Suncheon section, through W.Suncheon IC is connected to the Honam Expressway. At the time this was an opening round two-lane road. However, through the expansion progressed from 1977 to 1996 was expanded to four lanes round the entire section.
Alternatively, the name was chosen in honour of John Bateman, 2nd Viscount Bateman, a former Lord Commissioner of the Admiralty in the 1750s. In 1906, little penguins inhabited the Tollgate Islands, and Snapper Island was said to be a burial place used by indigenous people. In 2002, the offshore islands of Bateman's Bay were known to support large breeding populations of little penguin, wedge-tailed shearwater, short- tailed shearwater and white-faced storm-petrel and small populations of sooty oystercatcher, sooty shearwater and eastern reef egret.
In 1819, commissioners were appointed to lay out a turnpike between Washington and Wellsburg, West Virginia (then a part of Virginia) along the present-day alignment of PA 844. What is now PA 844 between West Middletown and Washington was established as the Washington and West Middletown Turnpike on April 27, 1852. The turnpike ran between the National Road in Washington and New Middletown and contained one tollgate. On April 14, 1863, an act was passed to macadamize a portion of the Washington and West Middletown Turnpike.
The highways pass through Cedarville, the site of the Virginia Inland Port, and through Nineveh, the site of the historic estate Erin. North of Nineveh, the routes follow the Warren–Frederick county line and briefly enter Clarke County, where the road is named Stonewall Jackson Highway. US 522 and US 340 diverge at a four-legged intersection at Double Tollgate. US 340 heads east along Lord Fairfax Highway; the west leg of the junction is SR 277 (Fairfax Pike), which heads toward Stephens City.
In 1582 Mill Fields Lane ran from Clapton to Jeremy's Ferry in the Leyton Marshes. In December 2005, the council announced that Tollgate House would be demolished as part of a £500 million revamp of the Broadmead retail area. It was replaced by the car-park for the Cabot Circus retail development. The building could not be demolished by explosives owing to nearby properties, so was dismantled floor by floor. The work took several months to complete and was finished by May 2006, at a total cost of £3.5 million (the same amount to construct it in the first place).

In 1967, Manie Kuhn and Tommy Malone were involved in the closest finish in the history of the race. Malone appeared to be on his way to a comfortable win and was handed the traditional message from the Mayor of Pietermaritzburg to the Mayor of Durban at Tollgate with a lead of two minutes over Kuhn.
This historic community, registered as a California Historical Landmark, was founded by Charles C. Martin, who came around Cape Horn in 1847, and his wife, Hannah Carver Martin, who crossed the Isthmus of Panama. Charles Martin first homesteaded the area in 1851 and operated a tollgate and station for stagecoaches crossing the mountains. Later he developed a lumber mill, winery, store, and the Glenwood Resort Hotel. It was known as Martinville from its foundation in 1851 until the establishment of the post office on August 23, 1880.

According to The Newgate Calendar: Although the practice of gibbeting had been abandoned by 1834 in Britain, during the British Raj of India in 1843, Charles James Napier threatened to have such structures built in parallel to any attempt to practice Sati, the ritualized burning of widows, to execute the perpetrators.
The second tollgate was permanently located near today's Bashford Manor Lane and Bardstown. While the landowners were families of English descent, many of the first residents during the agricultural days were Germans, which gave the area the nickname New Hamburg. Large-scale residential development didn't begin in the area until a streetcar line extended to the area near the present-day intersection of Bardstown and Baxter in the 1890s. Nearby Cave Hill Cemetery (which doubled as park) and Cherokee Park provided recreation for the new residents.
The fish was caught on a Topgun lure called "Awesome" in blue and pink. Previous Australian records have been held by a fish also captured from the port of Batemans Bay during the Tollgate Island Classic, a capture which helped to put Batemans Bay on the map for big blue marlin, and a fish of around captured in Bermagui by angler Wayne Cummings. A large marlin washed up on a beach in Western Australia weighing in June 2013. Larger blue marlin appear to be captured in years when the water temperate is warmer than usual.
Green Lanes had been established long before Domesday. In 1710 an Act of Parliament authorised the introduction of a turnpike on the road at Hornsey, although tolls were not levied until 1739. The Stamford Hill and Green Lanes Turnpike Trust finally erected a toll gate on Green Lanes by Duckett's Common, near Turnpike Lane in 1765. For the next 27 years this was the only tollgate on Green Lanes, at which time the Manor House toll gate was set up, along with others outside of the Harringay area.
Paying the toll at the College Road, SE21 tollgate, which dates back to 1789. The area west and north of Sydenham Hill road and Dulwich Wood is widely known as Dulwich, mostly corresponding to the postal code area (SE21), with the east side of the woods being known simply as Sydenham, or Upper Sydenham, corresponding to the SE26 postal area. Sydenham Hill road and the ridge line marks the southern and eastern boundary of the Dulwich Estate. The area is almost 100% residential and have many large homes dating from the 1800s.
The Allstadt House and Ordinary was built about 1790 on land owned by the Lee family near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, including Phillip Ludwell Lee, Richard Bland Lee and Henry Lee III. The house at the crossroads was sold to the Jacob Allstadt family of Berks County, Pennsylvania in 1811. Allstadt operated an ordinary, or tavern in the house, and a tollgate on the Harpers Ferry-Charles Town Turnpike, while he resided farther down the road in a stone house. The house was enlarged by the Allstadts c. 1830.
In Leandra, the N17 reaches an intersection with the R50 road, which is the end of section 2. On the eastern side of the junction, there is a tollgate. (Tollgates are also found on the off-ramps coming from and going towards the west) The N17 used to form a Z-shape in Leandra, being concurrent with the R50 from this junction north- westwards for 3 kilometers up to the junction with the R29, where the N17 would continue eastwards. But Today, the N17 is a continuous highway from its primary junction with the R50.
Fogarty was charged with break and enter, and possession of a controlled substance. According to the police report, Fogarty broke open the kitchen doors at the Tollgate Technological Skills Centre and was found standing naked in the kitchen with cooking oil spilled on the floor around him. He was granted a conditional discharge, placed on probation for one year, and was ordered to donate $500 to a local addiction service after he pleaded guilty to one count of mischief. After retiring in 2001, Fogarty remained clean and sober for more than a year.
The railroad would soon face its own competition in the form of horsecar lines. The West Roxbury Railroad opened from South Street at McBride Street in Jamaica Plain ( north of Forest Hills station) to Roxbury Crossing in 1857. It was immediately acquired by the Metropolitan Railroad and connected to its existing trackage, providing service from Jamaica Plain to downtown Boston. After the former Turnpike (soon renamed Washington Street) became a free public road in 1857, a horsecar line was constructed on it between Tollgate and existing tracks at Dudley Square.
Ashburton was a ward in the London Borough of Croydon, in London in the United Kingdom. The ward covered the Ashburton area, as well as covering the main retail area of Addiscombe, the Stroud Green, Tollgate and Longheath Garden estates, and large parts of northern Shirley. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 14,721. The ward formed part of the Croydon Central constituency, which is one of the most marginal in the country, 165 votes separating the Conservatives and Labour at the 2015 General Election.
At about 10 pm on 15 June, Da Costa and two friends were stopped in their car on Tollgate Road in Beckton, London 10.05pm on 15 June 2017. At some point before or during being stopped by police officers in his Mercedes hire vehicle, Da Costa attempted to swallow a number of bags which were later found to contain crack cocaine and heroin. The officers restrained Da Costa using pressure point tactics and 'distraction blows'. Da Costa handcuffed with his arms behind his back and one officer used CS spray.
View of the tollgate in Slingerlands, this was demolished in 1908. The history of Slingerlands begins in 1850 when the Albany, Rensselaerville, and Schoharie Plank Road Company was established by the state to construct a plank road from Albany, through Slingerlands, to Gallupville in Schoharie County. In 1854, the state authorized the company to abandon or sell portions and to turn other sections (including that part in Slingerlands) into a turnpike and charge tolls. The post office was originally called Normanskill and was built in 1852 with William H. Slingerland as the first post master.
Before World War II, Crawley was a slowly growing market town based around a north–south High Street. Beyond the buildings fronting the road, ancient fields and allotments survived. Towards the north end of the street, a footpath ran southeastwards between buildings and through the fields. In the 1930s this footpath was upgraded into a long cul-de-sac called Northgate Road, taking its name from the nearby northern tollgate on the High Street—part of the main London–Brighton road which was turnpiked in the 18th century.
The 95.1 frequency was home to the first FM radio station in Huntsville as "WHBS-FM", which began broadcasting December 21, 1947. It was mainly a simulcast of WHBS (1490 AM) which was owned by The Huntsville Times. WHBS-AM moved to 1550 AM and increased power to 5,000 day/500 night watts in 1952 (they were 1,000 day/250 night on 1490 AM) The FM station broadcast from a transmitter near Bankhead Parkway/Tollgate Road until around 1957 with 10,000 watts. The station had about a 150-mile coverage area with a good antenna.
New Cross is an area of south east London, England, south-east of Charing Cross in the London Borough of Lewisham and the SE14 postcode district. New Cross is near St Johns, Telegraph Hill, Nunhead, Peckham, Brockley, Deptford and Greenwich, and home to Goldsmiths, University of London, Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College and Addey and Stanhope School. New Cross Gate, on the west of New Cross, is named after the New Cross tollgate, established in 1718 by the New Cross Turnpike Trust. It is the location of New Cross station and New Cross Gate station.
The four-lane divided highway was completed in 1987. MD 24 was also expanded to a divided highway through the I-95 interchange, which was transformed into its modern partial cloverleaf. The original alignment of MD 24 between I-95 and Bel Air was planned to become another section of MD 755 in 1986 but was designated MD 924 in 1987. In December 2008, the Maryland Transportation Authority began a project to replace MD 24's intersection with MD 924 and Tollgate Road just north of the MD 24 - I-95 interchange.
It passes underneath of the Maryland Route 24 (MD 24) highway, the U.S. Route 1 (US 1) bypass, and crosses Tollgate Road, where it meets the Fallston Trail. Spurs off of it connect to the Harford Mall and Liriodendron mansion, and branches out to a dog park at the end. It serves as a shortcut across town, rather than walking along highways, and contains several bridges across branches of the creek while cutting through the forested Heavenly Waters Park. Bathrooms and parking are available at each end of the trail.
The building was completed in 1975 and was the second tallest building in the city at the time of completion, with a height of . It cost about £3.5 million to build and contained some of the most modern features in British civil architecture, including full air-conditioning. By the 21st century, it was regarded by some as outdated and unfashionable; the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA)'s president, George Ferguson, called Tollgate House one of the ugliest buildings in Britain. In 2003, the site was compulsory purchased for redevelopment by Bristol City Council.
Tollgate Ranger Station, 1935 The Umatilla National Forest takes its name from the Umatilla Indian word meaning "water rippling over sand." Explorers Lewis and Clark passed through the area in 1805 on the Columbia River, and Marcus and Narcissa Whitman passed through in 1836 to establish a mission at Wailatpu near Walla Walla, Washington. Thousands of emigrants later followed the Oregon Trail west, and many remained in the Blue Mountain region. Discovery of gold in Oregon in 1851 led to the settlement of the North Fork John Day River area.
Moses Coates, a prosperous farmer and the namesake of Coatesville, bought the cabin from Fleming's son in 1787. With the economy rising in the years after the United States gained independence, Moses Coates' son-in-law, Jesse Kersey, came up with a plan to develop the area by selling frontage on the recently completed Lancaster Turnpike which crossed through their land. The Lancaster Turnpike was the first toll road in the U.S., authorized in 1792 and completed in 1795. A tollgate was located within the present-day Coatesville city limits.
County Route 13 between Morris and New Berlin is referred to as "the turnpike" by locals, originally constructed in 1832, it was the last section to operate a tollgate due to being the most expensive to build. Ebenezer Chapel, near the southwest border, was coincidentally named after a nearby resident, and was a small settlement originally known as "Hayti" at one time. In 1956, a nearby house made statewide news when a moonshine still was busted up. The Beardslee Farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
If Wyoming remains a territory, Henry Ballard can continue to buy more land and eventually evict its residents; however if Wyoming becomes a state then his rights to the land will be restricted. After further conflict with Ballard, Redding attempts to take his horses to a horse market in Casper. However he encounters Ballard, who has built a tollgate that blocks the road to Casper, charging a fee for passage. Redding realizes going around would take too long to get the horses to market on time, with the market closed before he could arrive.
The first was the Driscoll Expressway which was to start from the Garden State Parkway at exit 80 in Toms River and end north of exit 8A along the turnpike in South Brunswick. This was cancelled in the 1980s. The other proposed road was a west–east spur, Route 92. While the majority of the spur was to be in South Brunswick, it was to begin at US 1, just north of the intersection with Ridge Road in South Brunswick and terminate at the tollgate for Exit 8A.
In the 16th century, as Catholicism gave way to Protestantism as the official religion of Finland, the convent was closed, and the town plunged into a depression. This lasted until the mid-18th century, when the town got a tollgate and a customs chamber. In the two centuries of economic stagnation before that the town had become famous for its knitted stockings, a craft carried on from the times of the convent. The year 1863 saw the founding of the spa at Cape Kalevanniemi, which raised the town's status as a holiday venue.
The route starts in the Durban Central Business District. For the first few kilometres of its length, it runs parallel to the N3 on both sides as King Ndinuzulu Road North and King Ndinuzulu Road South (former Berea Road). Onward traffic can take the flyover, while those going to Samayapuram for Darshan can take the Service Lane which leads to the Temple. For festival days, during the Chithirai Chariot Festivals, there are 24 hours bus services to nearby places like, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Thuraiyur, Thanjavur and other nearby Small Towns. Further, there are continuous Town Bus Services provided which mainly connect to Tollgate (Salem-Trichy main road junction), Chatram Bus Stand and Central Bus Stand.
Tollgate Cemetery Before the trains were built in the 1830s, the area that is now Forest Hills Station was known as (the) Toll Gate. The Norfolk and Bristol Turnpike was created in 1803, providing a main route between Boston and Providence, Rhode Island. The Hartford and Dedham Turnpike was chartered the following year, serving as a main road through to Hartford, Connecticut.Dedham Historical Society At the facility that stood at what is now the MBTA station, carts and wagons from Roxbury and environs were weighed and charged a toll before being allowed onto the privately owned turnpike.
Here, the National Road follows US 40 Alternate, heading through the Savage River State Forest and reaching Grantsville, where the Casselman Bridge is located. The road passes through Frostburg, where the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad is located, and La Vale, where the La Vale Tollgate House is located. The byway comes to Cumberland, which has many historic transportation sites. From Cumberland, the Historic National Road Scenic Byway follows Henderson Avenue and Baltimore Street to I-68, continuing east on I-68 before splitting onto MD 144 and passing through Rocky Gap State Park and Green Ridge State Forest.
The Cabot Circus shopping centre, opened in 2008. The Broadmead shopping centre was redeveloped in the early years of the century, involving the demolition of one the city's tallest mid-century towers, Tollgate House, in the construction of Cabot Circus. The former Bristol and West Tower was reworked into a glass skyscraper with glass panels in place of its concrete outer cladding. In 2005, the city council undertook extensive consultations about the future of tall buildings in Bristol, and identified support for new tall buildings so long as they are well designed, sustainable, distinctive and 'fit' into the existing urban landscape.
The old wooden structure was taken down in 1817, and construction on the new bridge began on 4 January 1819. The keystone was laid by J. E. Scholes, boroughreeve of Salford, on 17 June 1820, and the bridge was opened on 1 August. The bridge's tollgate was removed on 10 March 1848. At a meeting of the committee for the removal of the bridge tolls, the bridge's creditors agreed to give up any interest in the structure; the remaining surplus of funds was used to purchase a "token of respect" for the committee's chairman, Thomas Chadwick.

In 1863, the Albany and Susquehanna Railroad was built through Slingerlands with a station established here as well. William H. Slingerland was the surveyor of the road, and since his route came in $600,000 less than a previous survey the company named the station here Slingerlands in his honor. In 1870, the post office also took the name Slingerlands. After having been in the rear of a grocery store for a hundred years it moved to the Tollgate Building in 1953, until the 1990s when a newer larger location was built near the Price Chopper Plaza.
The Durban Wireless Community was founded in December 2004 by a group of people interested in 802.11 a/b/g wireless technology in Durban, the third most populous city in South Africa. The first meeting in January 2005 had 4 attendees. The group now has about 200 people on the mailing list and about 15 live nodes on the network spanning from Bluff to Umbilo, Morningside, Town, Tollgate and Westville. Goals of the non-profit group, which is free to join and open to all, include educating the public about wireless technology, and learning more about the technology.
There were three tollgates along the turnpike, one at around from Trenton, one at Ridge Road and one at the current railroad crossing for US 1\. Toll collectors on the turnpike would often have a hard time counting the number of horses at a tollgate because of kicked up smoke and dust. During the War of 1812, the turnpike gained record usage, moving goods between Philadelphia and New York. A third supplement was added to the charter in January 1814, where the turnpike corporation would have to upgrade the road in eighteen months or face removal of tolls.
Beyond the church, High Street leads off to the south towards Stourport along the B4194, a road known locally as "the switchback" because of its many sharp curves. Unlike in many English towns, High Street is so called not because of its importance to commerce, but because of its geographical position 'high' above the river. On the other side of the church, Welch Gate (so called because it once contained a tollgate on the road towards Wales) climbs steeply up to the west. Dowles Road, a continuation of the B4194, leads northwest to Dowles and towards the Wyre Forest.
He wrote in his diary that the area was "entirely treeless except for a few scraggly fruit trees." Walt Whitman spent three months in the spring of 1840 as the schoolmaster of the Trimming Square school district, in the area where Franklin Square, Garden City South and West Hempstead intersect. In 1852, one Louis Schroerer built a hotel near a tollgate (by what is now Arden Boulevard) of the Hempstead-Jamaica Turnpike (toll road). The hotel attracted an increasing number of visitors and immigrants (the latter often German) from New York City to the formerly rural hamlet.
Woodville High Street (which is part of the A511 road) has a small shopping area incorporating a convenience store, a pharmacy and a fish and chip shop. Also located on the High Street side of the road are additional food outlets, including a Chinese takeaway, a further fish and chip shop, and Indian and Chinese restaurants. There is a village post office together with further shops and light industrial and commercial units. Woodville has a 24-hour petrol station, incorporating a convenience store, and a tyre and exhaust centre which is located on the Tollgate roundabout.
Arena tram stop is a light rail stop in the Woodside area of South Norwood in the London Borough of Croydon in the southern suburbs of London. The stop is located by the Croydon Sports Arena and serves the council estates of Longheath Gardens Estate and Tollgate Estate. The tram stop is located on a section of line which follows the trackbed of the former Woodside and South Croydon Railway, although there was no station at the location prior to the opening of Tramlink. The stop is at ground level on double track, with platforms on each side of the tracks.

The epistle is subtitled "Angående Ulla Winblads Lustresa til Första Torpet, utom Kattrumps Tullen" (Concerning Ulla Winblad's pleasure-trip to Första Torpet, outside Kattrump Tollgate). The Epistle is a pastorale, starting with a near-paraphrase of Nicolas Boileau- Despréaux's French guide to the construction of pastoral verse.
In 1941, the organisation's premises at The Cliff in Wallasey was commandeered for war purposes and the Guide Dogs moved to new premises in the south of England at Leamington Spa. In 1956 Guide Dogs began to recruit volunteers to become puppy walkers. A few years later a breeding programme was introduced and by 1970 these components of Guide Dogs’ work had grown so much they were given their own premises at Tollgate House, near Leamington Spa. The most influential figure in the development of Guide Dogs’ puppy walking and breeding programmes was the late Derek Freeman MBE.
Stops at Boylston Street and Tollgate (present day Forest Hills) were joined by a station at Green Street at the request of local residents. Green Street, laid out in 1836 to connect Centre Street and the Toll road, (Washington Street) became a hub of local artisans and builders. Soon after, Centre Street near Green Street became a retail main street, with grocers attracting local business providing products from the West Indies and common household goods. During the 1840s, as commuters from Boston settled in Jamaica Plain, the local market grew, with artisans and businesses - with proprietors living in the community - providing much of the needed products and services.
According to the South Korean Governmental decision made on December 2002,Governmental Decision, provided by the Ministry of Governmental Legislation its original name is Seoul-Yangyang Expressway, however, it will be expanded completely on 2014, because, though the construction of a phase from Chuncheon Junction to East Hongcheon Interchange finished (earlier than expected) on October 30, 2009, by public-funded KEC, its last phase, East Hongcheon to Yangyang has been started on May 2009. Gapyeong County Bus No. 8004, Gwangju Urban Bus No. 8002, and Namyangju Urban Bus No. 8012 use this highway. Yangyang IC Tollgate. It has the longest road tunnel in South Korea, .
1932 map of the Dulwich Estate The Dulwich Estate, previously the Estates Governors of Alleyn's College of God's Gift at Dulwich, is a registered charity in England, one of the successors to the historic charity Edward Alleyn's College of God's Gift that was founded in 1619. It owns the freehold of around in Dulwich, South London, including a number of private roads and a tollgate. The estate properties range from Regency and 19th century buildings to distinguished modernist 1960s buildings. A "Scheme of Management" was created in January 1974 under Section 19 ("Retention of management powers for general benefit of neighbourhood") of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967.
At this time it was co- educational (for both girls and boys), with separate playgrounds. In the early 1950s the school became the County Grammar School for Girls with eligible boys from Bury and its surrounding villages attending the King Edward VI Grammar School. In 1964 the County Grammar School for Girls moved from its Northgate Street site to brand new premises at the end of Tollgate Lane (now known as Beetons Way) in north west Bury St Edmunds. For many years the girls had walked to this new site to make use of the playing fields that the local education authority had acquired there.
The roadway which became Alt US 40 in Garrett and Allegany counties is, with some realignments, the route followed by the National Road through western Maryland. Various historic sites associated with the National Road can be found along Alt US 40, including a toll-gate house (La Vale Tollgate House) and mile-marker in LaVale. The toll-gate house in LaVale is the last remaining toll-gate house on the National Road in Maryland. Several historic bridges from the National Road, since bypassed by newer bridges, are still present along the route of Alt US 40, including the Casselman Bridge over the Casselman River in Grantsville and a bridge in Clarysville.
Plasma image from the MAST spherical tokamak machine at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy In 1941 the Fleet Air Arm opened Royal Naval Air Station, HMS Hornbill, between Culham railway station and Clifton Hampden village. Most of the airfield is in Clifton Hampden parish, but HMS Hornbill was also called RNAS Culham. A Royal Observer Corps Post was also constructed, in a field east of Tollgate Road, adjacent to a pre existent Pillbox, just up the hill from the rifle range, next to the river. The Admiralty closed the airfield in 1956 and transferred it to the UK Atomic Energy Authority in 1960.
The predecessor highway of MD 58 was the 19th century Hagerstown and Cross Roads Turnpike, which followed essentially the same alignment as modern MD 58 between the tollgate at Broadfording Road, now just east of I-81, and Cearfoss. What is now the county-maintained portion of Cearfoss Pike was originally the Mercersburg Road. About of that county highway from Cearfoss to Conococheague Creek was paved as a state-aid road in 1916 but was not taken into the state road system and was never part of MD 58. MD 58 was paved from Broadfording Road to Garden View Road in 1928 and extended to Cearfoss in 1930.
At Balmoral, The N4 leaves the City of Tshwane and enters Mpumalanga Province. It proceeds eastwards for 25 kilometres to enter eMalahleni. After the interchange with the R555 and R544 Routes south of the eMalahleni City Centre, the N4 continues eastwards, meeting the eastern end of the N12 National Route from Johannesburg (westbound only), to bypass Middelburg to the south (where a tollgate is located), with the R575 and the R35 Roads providing access to the city centre. South-east of Middelburg, the N4 meets the N11 National Route, which also provides access to Middelburg Central in the north and to Ermelo in the south.
The surviving precincts of Cox's Road have state technical significance for their ability to demonstrate simple, pre 1820s road building techniques. Improvement of the 1814 route throughout the 1820s also provide important evidence of later road building techniques and demonstrates the ongoing use of this key route to the interior, before it was superseded by the new Great Western Road laid out by Sir Thomas Mitchell in the 1830s. The Linden - Tollgate Drive/Railway Parade Precinct of Cox's Road is one of the more intact surviving sections of the 1814 road. It extends for over beside and overlapping with an unsurfaced access road along the top of the ridge.
View north from the south end of MD 924 at MD 24 near Emmorton MD 924 begins at a diamond interchange with MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway) just north of the MD 24's interchange with Interstate 95 (I-95) near Emmorton. The roadway continues west and then north on the opposite side of the interchange as county-maintained Tollgate Road. MD 924 heads northeast and then north as two- lane undivided Emmorton Road. The state highway gains a center turn lane as it passes between several residential subdivisions and a few shopping centers around its intersection with Singer Road and Abingdon Road at Norris Corner.
For most of its history, Crawley was a slowly growing market town whose focus was the north–south High Street, part of the main London to Brighton road. This was turnpiked in 1770, and at the northern and southern limits of the parish tollgates were erected—the North Gate and the South Gate. The section of road north of Crawley, called London Road, was widened in the early 1930s and bypassed a few years later to form the present A23. The tollgate was close to Boscobel House, a 17th-century timber-framed house which is now a listed building, and a long-established coaching inn called the Rising Sun.
Justices of the Peace were empowered by the 1862 Rural Highways Act to combine turnpike trusts into Highways Districts. This meant that by the late 1860s trusts were either not renewing their powers or were being terminated by General Acts of Parliament. For example, most turnpikes in Berkshire, including the Bath Road, were officially wound up by 1878 when legislation transferred responsibility for dis-enturnpiked roads to the new county councils. The tollgate on the Bath Road west of Reading was removed in 1864 as the outward pressure of urban development made rates a more acceptable way of financing the maintenance of what was now a suburban road.
MD 144 follows what was constructed as the Baltimore and Cumberland Turnpike through Hancock in the 19th century. This highway was reconstructed as one of the original state roads by the Maryland State Roads Commission. The highway was paved from Little Tonoloway Creek to the western edge of Hancock in 1913, and from there east through the town to east of Tonoloway Creek in 1915. The highway through Hancock followed the same alignment as modern MD 144 except for a circuitous alignment on both sides of Tonoloway Creek that followed what is now Old Route 40, Tollgate Ridge Road, and Ford Drive. The present bridge and alignment were constructed in 1940.
In the early hours of Thursday, 6 April 1837, Henry Beresford, 3rd Marquess of Waterford and his fox-hunting friends arrived in Melton Mowbray at the Thorpe End tollgate. They had been drinking heavily at Croxton races, and understandably the tollkeeper asked to be paid before he opened the gate for them. Sadly for him some repairs were underway, and ladders, brushes and pots of red paint were lying nearby; the Marquess and his cronies seized these and attacked the tollkeeper, painting him and a constable who intervened red. They then nailed up the door of the tollhouse and painted that red before moving into the town carrying the stolen equipment.
Bel Air Racetrack was a horse racing facility located one mile north of Baltimore Pike and east of Tollgate Road in Bel Air, Maryland. The 100-acre site was originally plotted in 1870 but was later improved and expanded in 1936 by new owner Ray Bryson to include a 3/4-mile race track, new starting gate, and larger grandstands.Bel Air Meet Opens Aug 15, The Sunday Star, July 29, 1951 The track flourished until the 1940s when the owners became embroiled in political efforts to close the track. After Bryson died in 1958, the state legislature eventually prevailed and the track closed in 1962.
Dedham Specials became permanent in June 1842, giving Dedham Center reliable direct train service to Boston and making it possible for the first time to commute by train for those living in the areas served by the northern portion of the Boston and Providence Railroad. This pattern of service persisted for the next eight years, until the West Roxbury Branch from Tollgate to Dedham via West Roxbury opened in June 1850. After this point, commuter service to Dedham ran via West Roxbury rather than Readville, although trains continued to run on the old Dedham Branch on non-commuter schedules. Commuter service to Dedham via Readville resumed in 1858, but was always lighter than commuter service via West Roxbury.
The route goes through Gravesend; crosses the A2 at Tollgate; goes southward through Sole Street and Luddesdown; climbs to the North Downs Way at Trottiscliffe/Vigo Village; descends the scarp slope of the North Downs; crosses the M20 and A20; goes through Platt and Mereworth Woods to Gover Hill, where the Medway valley comes into view; goes down to West Peckham, Barnes Street and thus to the Medway; takes the riverside path upstream for a full , through Tonbridge to Hayesden; heads due south, under the railway and under the Tonbridge bypass; climbs to the ridge at Bidborough through to Modest Corner, Southborough; and follows a mixture of paths and roads to the A264, at Stone Cross.
Teville Gate is a construction site and car park in Worthing in West Sussex, England. Covering about the site lies at the main entrance to the town centre of Worthing for both rail, via Worthing railway station, and road, via the A24 and A27. The site is bounded by Railway Approach to the north, the A24 Broadwater Road to the east, the A2031 Teville Road to the south and Grand Victorian Hotel to the west. The former Teville Gate shopping centre Teville Gate takes its name from the former tollgate that stood on the site for the Worthing to West Grinstead turnpike, close to the Teville Stream which flows through the area.
It is, however, a mile north along Saint-Laurent from Sherbrooke Street, which in the early 19th century marked the boundary between the urban area and open countryside. (Several decades later, the Mile End train station near Bernard Street was situated coincidentally one more mile north along Saint-Laurent from the original crossroads.) Mile End was also the first important crossroads north of the tollgate set up in 1841 at the city limits of 1792. From the crossroads to the city limits the distance was . The city limits were located 100 chains (1.25 miles or about 2 km) north of the fortification wall, and intersected Saint-Laurent just south of the current Duluth Avenue.

The area around the roundabout, which is the modern equivalent of the toll booth, is still known as 'Tollgate'. The name Woodville first appeared in a leaflet issued when the foundation stone of the Church of England parish church of St Stephen was laid on 7 November 1845.A Brief History of Knowles [John Knowles & Co (Wooden Box) Ltd], no date, page 3 St Stephen's is a Norman revival building designed by Henry Isaac Stevens and completed in 1846.
Between Porthmadog Harbour station and Boston Lodge, the railway runs on the Cob, the dyke of the Traeth Mawr polder. The Cob was built between 1807 and 1811 by William Madocks and, in addition to its land reclamation function in conjunction with sluice gates at the Britannia bridge, it serves also as a roadway (which, since 1836, has been at a lower level on the landward side) and as a bridge across the Afon Glaslyn. Tolls were charged with a tollgate at Boston Lodge until 2003, when the rights were purchased by the National Assembly for Wales. The higher, original, section of the Cob carries, in addition to the railway, a public footpath throughout virtually its entire length.
The B&P;, like many early railroads, was primarily intended for intercity travel; the only intermediate stations north of Canton were at Dedham Plain (later called Readville) and Pierpont Village (later called Roxbury). Two additional stations in Jamaica Plain were added in 1842: Jamaica Plain at Green Street, and Tollgate (later Forest Hills) where the line crossed the Norfolk and Bristol Turnpike. Additional stations on the inner part of the line were soon added, including stops at Boylston Street in Jamaica Plain and Heath Street in Roxbury. The B&P; began regularly running Dedham Specials (which used the main line to Readville and the Dedham Branch to Dedham station) in June 1842, which made commuting from these intermediate stations possible.
Tollgate on The Dulwich Estate In 2016, the Estate came under increasing criticism from local businesses and residents over their management of properties in the area. In February 2016, several hundred people, including actor James Nesbitt and journalist Jay Rayner, both local residents, marched through Herne Hill to protest against the Estate's treatment of Just Williams, a local toyshop forced to close after Dulwich Estate increased their rent "by more than 70%". Similar campaigns have been mounted against the Estate's management of the Half Moon pub, left boarded up for three years following flooding in 2013 and poised to lose its live music space after refurbishment, and the Estate's plans to sell a local primary school's playing field to a property developer.

Lee Street Church in Horley is one of 11 churches in the South East region of Partnership UK, a charitable incorporated organisation which acts as a support network for independent and self-governing churches.
Batemans Bay is fed by the Clyde River and its tributaries, drawing its catchment from the eastern slopes of the Budawang Range and the Great Dividing Range from within the Budawang, Clyde River, Bimberamala, and Monga national parks. Cullendulla Creek also flows into Batemans Bay, between the townships of Surfside and Longbeach, west of Square Head. The total catchment area of the bay is approximately and the bay holds an estimated of water at an average depth of . The surface area of the bay comprises and generally stretches from the confluence of the Clyde River with the bay east of the town of Batemans Bay, near Snapper Island; to its mouth with the Tasman Sea at the Tollgate Islands, located between North Head and Circuit Beach.

The highways pass through Cedarville, the site of the Virginia Inland Port, and through Nineveh, the site of the historic estate Erin. North of Nineveh, the routes follow the Warren–Frederick county line and enter Clarke County, where the road is named Stonewall Jackson Highway. US 340 and US 522 diverge at a four-legged intersection at Double Tollgate, from which US 522 continues north toward Winchester; the west leg of the junction is SR 277 (Fairfax Pike), which heads toward Stephens City. US 340 heads east along two-lane Lord Fairfax Highway.
The Planning Inspectorate traces its roots back to the Housing, Town Planning Act 1909 and the birth of the planning system in the UK. John Burns (1858–1943), the first member of the working class to become a government Minister, was President of the Local Government Board and responsible for the 1909 Housing Act. He appointed Thomas Adams (1871–1940) as Town Planning Assistant – a precursor to the current role of Chief Planning Inspector. Subsequent Acts have included the Housing and Town Planning Act 1919, the Town Planning Act of 1925, the Town and Country Planning Acts of 1932, of 1947 and of 1990. Between 1977 and 2001 the inspectorate was based in Tollgate House, Bristol before moving to its current headquarters at Temple Quay House, Bristol.
In later times, an effigy was sometimes burned instead. The justice of the Ceffyl Pren was administered by a jury led by a foreman, with all of the men involved seeking anonymity through the use of blackened faces and female garb. This bizarre tradition led to the adoption of "female impersonation" as one of the key features of the Rebecca Riots which swept across South and West Wales in the period 1839-1844 in protest against tollgate charges and the corruption of the Turnpike Trusts. > Adulterers, harsh landlords, the fathers of bastard children who hid behind > the hated provisions of the 19th century Poor Law making the mother entirely > responsible for her own predicament, all faced the frightening, embarrassing > (and not infrequently painful) effects of these riotous affairs .
East of the Lake Fanny area, the business route enters a commercial area and expands to a five-lane road with center turn lane. The highway enters the town of Bel Air just west of its intersection with Tollgate Road. US 1 Business intersects MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway) surrounded by shopping centers, including the Harford Mall on the northwest corner. US 1 Business continues east as Baltimore Pike to downtown Bel Air. The business route intersects Bond Street, which carries southbound MD 924, and becomes one-way eastbound. At the next intersection with Main Street, the street continues as the eastbound lanes of MD 22 (Fulford Avenue) while US 1 Business turns north onto Main Street, where the business route runs concurrently with northbound MD 924.
The toll station at Log pri Brezovici Until July 1, 2008 all vehicles had to stop at tollgates and pay a toll. Since that date vignettes are required for all vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while heavier vehicles must still pay the toll at a tollgate. Tollgates are being rearranged so that two traffic lanes for lighter vehicles (with vignettes) are no longer divided by tollgates and vehicles can drive through at 60 kilometres per hour (37 miles per hour). Where tollgates are still standing as they were before July 1, 2008, the speed limit is 40 kilometres per hour (25 miles per hour). Since 2018, heavy vehicles need to pay toll with an electronic on-board unit attached on the windscreen and tollgates are not needed anymore.

A New Jersey Turnpike tollgate for exit 8A in Monroe Township When traveling from the north, drivers who exit from the southbound Western Spur onto the ramp for dedicated access to the Meadowlands Sports Complex pay no toll, but the NJTA counts cars electronically and is paid a fee for each vehicle by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority. The non-tolled I-295, which parallels the turnpike for much of its southern length, is often used as an alternate route for shunpiking by locals and through travelers alike; before the expansion of the exit 1 toll plaza, this route was promoted through signage and radio announcements from the New Jersey State Police as a bypass of summer congestion at the plaza.
Pixham Mill when in use () 17th Century Pixham Mill Cottage No mention is made of Pixham in Domesday Book, but evidence of Roman occupation, including coins, tiles and pottery shards, was discovered on the site of the Friends Provident Sports Ground in 1980; the adjoining road is part of the original line of one of the (Roman) Stane Streets in England. The first reference to Pixham despite centuries of recorded Rolls at Westminster comes from a Manor Court Roll of 1417, as a farmed locality with mills but it never gained its own manor. Giles Green which is no longer visible, north of the Pixham End building by the A24 London Road had the Cock Inn and the Dorking Tollgate with a milestone. A gravel pit for a few years existed in the 20th century on the Friends Provident playing fields here.
US 11 in Stephens City Historic U.S. Route 11 traverses Stephens City proper, while Interstate 81 is located immediately east of the town line. Stephens City serves as the western terminus of State Route 277, which begins at U.S. Route 11 and ends only away in Double Tollgate, Clarke County, Virginia, at U.S. Routes 340 and 522. Plans are in place to move State Route 277 to near the Family Drive-In Theatre, south of its current western terminus with US Route 11, with the eastern terminus remaining at its current location. The planned construction will also move the I-81 interchange at Stephens City, where there are a number of service stations and fast food restaurants, south of the town limits to alleviate congestion on the current Route 277 bridge, which will remain after construction is completed.
Between the Boston terminal in Park Square and Forest Hills, the B&P; mainline was at grade except for Hogg's Bridge, which carried Centre Street over the railroad. As traffic increased both on local streets (including horsecars and streetcars) and on the railroad, the numerous grade crossings became increasingly dangerous. (The danger was present even in the earliest years of the railroad; in 1846, a man was killed by a train at the crossing at Tollgate station.) On June 21, 1890, the Massachusetts General Court passed An Act to Promote the Abolition of Grade Crossings, which allowed town officials or a railroad company to petition the state superior court to create an independent commission to determine whether a grade crossing could and should be eliminated. The costs of such eliminations were to be paid 65% by the railroad, not more than 10% by the town, and the remainder by the state.
PA 309 comes to a southbound exit and northbound entrance with Bethlehem Pike, at which point the Sellersville Bypass freeway ends. PA 309 northbound in the borough of Quakertown From this point, the route heads north-northwest through the community of Rich Hill and crosses into Richland Township, where it becomes four-lane undivided South West End Boulevard and passes through a mix of farm fields and woodland with some commercial development, soon gaining a center left-turn lane and crossing Morgan Creek. The road briefly becomes a divided highway at the Tollgate Road intersection before it continues past businesses as a five-lane road with a center left-turn lane, with another divided highway stretch at the entrance to a shopping center. PA 309 enters the borough of Quakertown upon crossing Beaver Run and runs past more businesses as a five-lane road containing a center turn lane.
In an issue of the Uncanny X-Men, U.N.I.T forces led by Sergeant Benton can be seen loading an unconscious Juggernaut into a lorry while Benton receives a message. In the internet Flash animation Scream of the Shalka, Major Kennet hands the Doctor a folder with a UNIT crest on it. For the new television series, BBC created a faux website for UNIT, complete with "easter eggs" that can be accessed by the reader with the passwords "bison" and "buffalo" (the latter mentioned on screen in "World War Three"). The 'public' part of the website advertises UNIT Conferences and publications relating to "extra-territorial threats", as well as press releases on the establishment of a central New York Liaison office; the press releases and publications also make reference to off-screen adventures, such as the Skaniska Incident and Jersey Tollgate Situation, with the most recent covering the events of "The Christmas Invasion" (2005) ("Alien Life Confirmed").
The first documented evidence of Dulwich is as a hamlet outside London in 967 AD, granted by King Edgar to one of his thanes Earl Aelfheah. The name of Dulwich has been spelt in various ways, Dilwihs, Dylways, Dullag, and may come from two old English words, Dill, a white flower, and wihs, meaning a damp meadow, giving a meaning of "the meadow where dill grows". Harold Godwinson owned the land at one point, and after 1066, King William I of England. In 1333, the population of Dulwich was recorded as 100. In 1538, Henry VIII sold the area to goldsmith Thomas Calton for £609. Calton's grandson Sir Francis Calton sold the Manor of Dulwich for £4,900 in 1605 to Elizabethan actor and entrepreneur Edward Alleyn. He vested his wealth in a charitable foundation, the College of God's Gift, established in 1619. The charity's modern successor, The Dulwich Estate, still owns in the area, including a number of private roads and a tollgate.
The mail coaches were thus well defended against highwaymen, and accounts of robberies often confuse them with private stage coaches, though robberies did occur. To prevent corruption and ensure good performance, the guards were paid handsomely and supplied with a generous pension. The mail was their sole charge, meaning that they had to deliver it on foot if a problem arose with the coach and, unlike the driver, they remained with the coach for the whole journey; occasionally guards froze to death from hypothermia in their exposed position outside the coach during the harsh winters (see River Thames frost fairs). The guard was supplied with a timepiece and a posthorn, the former to ensure the schedule was met, the latter to alert the post house to the imminent arrival of the coach and warn tollgate keepers to open the gate (mail coaches were exempt from stopping and paying tolls: a fine was payable if the coach was forced to stop).
Starting in May 1849, Norfolk County Railroad trains ran via the Dedham Branch, using it and the B&P; main line as its entry to Boston; this ended when the Boston and New York Central Railroad (the successor to the Norfolk County) opened its own route from Islington to Boston in January 1855, but resumed in August 1855 as the result of an injunction preventing the operation of the B&NYC;'s new Islington-Boston route, before ending again in March 1857. In June 1850, a new B&P; branch opened from Tollgate station to Dedham via West Roxbury, and all B&P; Boston-Dedham commuter service was shifted to this new route. Passenger service on the original Dedham Branch continued (although not scheduled for Boston commuting), but was switched to a combination of through trains and horse- drawn Readville-Dedham shuttles. Even after the resumption of Dedham commuter service via Readville in 1855, most Dedham trains still ran via West Roxbury instead of Readville, and some Readville-Dedham service still consisted of horse-drawn shuttles, which were only discontinued in 1875.

And take your laysure like a god on pension and don't be walking abroad"; Joyce 1939, p.24, line 16 The chapter ends with the image of the HCE character sailing into Dublin Bay to take a central role in the story. Fountain in Dublin representing Anna Livia Plurabelle, a character in Finnegans Wake I.2 opens with an account of "Harold or Humphrey" Chimpden receiving the nickname "Earwicker" from the Sailor King, who encounters him attempting to catch earwigs with an inverted flowerpot on a stick while manning a tollgate through which the King is passing. This name helps Chimpden, now known by his initials HCE, to rise to prominence in Dublin society as "Here Comes Everybody".
Plans are underway to find a route for construction in order for traffic to skip the town centre. North of Bethal town centre, the N17 meets the R35 and R38 routes and they become one road through the town centre. East of Bethal Hospital, the R38 becomes its own road south-west and in the southern suburbs, the R35 becomes its own road southwards. From the R35 split in Bethal, the N17 goes eastwards for fifty kilometres to the city of Ermelo, which marks the end of section 4 of the proclaimed N17 route. Before Ermelo, there is a tollgate. Plans are underway to find a route for construction in order for traffic to skip the town centre. In Ermelo Central, the N17 enters as Joubert Street and reaches an intersection with the N11 national route (Kerk Street), just one kilometre north of its intersection with the N2 national route terminus. The highway passes through a commercial strip around the intersection with MD 136 (Whiteford Road/Priestford Road) as US 1 passes to the south of Dublin.
