John Butler is the first full-length album by the John Butler Trio, released 27 December 1998. It was recorded at Studio Couch, Fremantle and engineered by George Nikoloudis and Shaun O'Callaghan, mixed by Shaun O'Callaghan and George Nikoloudis and mastered by Shaun O'Callaghan and Richard Mahony at Studio Couch and Toad Hall. All music and lyrics were written, arranged and produced by John Butler, except for the words of the chorus in "Colours" which were from Sly and the Family Stone. With Jason McGann on drums and Gavin Shoesmith on bass, the first version of the group recorded the album in December 1998 which was launched at Mojos Bar in North Fremantle.

The album was recorded in January and February 2004 and was co- produced by the band together with engineer Matt Lovell (Silverchair, Something for Kate, The Mess Hall), in a converted Masonic Lodge (Kingdom Studios) located in the inner Perth suburb of Maylands. The EP was recorded by MacRae and Weston and then mixed and mastered by Shaun O' Callaghan at Studio Couch. Initially the EP was only available at live performances of the band. In October 2010 they released their debut album, Reactions. The album was recorded and engineered by Dave Parkin (Sugar Army, Snowman, Jebediah) and mastered in New York by Steve Fallone (TV on the Radio, Sonic Youth).

When the Dust Settles is the third full-length album from Australian hip hop group, Downsyde and was released in December 2004 through Obese Records. It was produced by band members Optamus, Dazastah, Cheeky and Armee. All tracks were recorded and mixed at various members' homes except for flutes on "Bring It All Black" and "Arabian Knights", which were recorded at Studio Couch in Fremantle, Western Australia. At the J Award of 2005, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year.

Also in 2007 they provided a cover version of "Shipping Steel", which featured Dave Larkin (of Dallas Crane), for the Cold Chisel tribute album, Standing on the Outside. In July 2008 the Flairz released its first full-length studio album, Black Fox, which was produced by Dom Mariani. It had been recorded over the previous two years with Shaun O’Callaghan at Studio Couch and John Villani at Northbridge Studios. A limited edition version included a bonus six-track disc, The Early Years 2003-2006.

In early 2005, the band returned to Bergerk! Studios with Allen Smith to record their first studio album. The group performed at the West Australian Music Industry Awards Festival and RTRFM's In the Pines, as well as being the only main stage support act on the Perth leg of Taste of Chaos, where they performed to a sold-out Robinson Pavilion with the Used, Killswitch Engage, Funeral for a Friend, Story of the Year and Rise Against. After six months in the recording studio, with the album mastered by Shaun O'Callaghan at Studio Couch, The Good Fight for Harmony was released on 14 December 2005.
