It is referred to by many names worldwide, including Ball Hockey, Inline hockey, Roller hockey, Longstick hockey, Deck hockey, Road hockey, Street hockey and Skater hockey depending on which region of the world in which it is played. Like ice hockey, inline hockey is considered a contact sport, however body checking is prohibited. It is similar to ice hockey in that teamwork, skill and aggressiveness are needed.

He and his friends played street hockey and roller hockey as a boy since there were no ice hockey rinks in Brooklyn. They used improvised equipment for games, including a roll of tape for a puck, goal posts constructed from wood and fishing net, and goalie pads made from couch cushions and inner tubes.

The Orange County Campus is centrally located in Orange, CA. It moved to its current location in July 2015 and presently serves 134 students (preschool to 8th grade). It is on the grounds of Covenant Christian School, well-situated close to the 22, 55, 91, 57 and 5 freeways in a mixed- use neighborhood. The school has ten classrooms, a media lab, library, two playgrounds, and an administration office. Larry Kenneth Robert Walker, Jr., was born on December 1, 1966, in Maple Ridge, a suburb of Greater Vancouver in British Columbia, to Larry, Sr., and Mary Walker, both of Scottish descent. Larry, Jr., was the youngest of four boys, Barry, Carey and Gary. The five men often played together in a fastpitch softball league, frequently all in the same starting lineup. Walker grew up passing much of his free time playing street hockey, especially as part of a group of boys in the backyard and driveway of another boy named Rick Herbert.

The number of players was often large. To this day, shinney (derived from "shinty") is a popular Canadian term for an informal type of hockey, either ice or street hockey. Thomas Chandler Haliburton, in The Attache: Second Series (published in 1844) imagined a dialogue, between two of the novel's characters, which mentions playing "hurly on the long pond on the ice". This has been interpreted by some historians from Windsor, Nova Scotia as reminiscent of the days when the author was a student at King's College School in that town in 1810 and earlier.

Langway was born while his father, an American serviceman, was stationed in Taiwan, and is the only NHL player to have been born there. He grew up in Randolph, Massachusetts, and did not begin playing hockey until age 13 in 1970, aside from pick-up street hockey games with the neighborhood boys. He then led Randolph High School (Massachusetts) to three straight state tournament appearances in 1973, 1974 and 1975. He was also a standout quarterback for the Blue Devils and was one of the top football recruits in the nation.

Coughlin Field Worcester State University Athletics is a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC). The Worcester State University athletic department currently sponsors men's intercollegiate baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, ice hockey, indoor and outdoor track and field, and soccer, and women's intercollegiate basketball, cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, indoor and outdoor track and field, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. Intramural sports offered at WSU include coed soccer, coed flag football, street hockey, dodgeball, wiffle ball, floor hockey, stickball, indoor soccer, ultimate, and softball.

Georges, the youngest of eight children, was born on , 1887, in Chicoutimi, Quebec, to Jacques Vézina, a local baker and an immigrant from St. Nicolas de La Rochelle in France, and his wife Clara. Georges attended school at the Petit Séminaire de Chicoutimi until the age of fourteen, when he left the school to help at his father's bakery. He played hockey from a young age, participating in informal street hockey matches with others his own age. Vézina partook in these matches in his shoes, and used skates for the first time at age 16 when he joined the local team in Chicoutimi.

A street hockey ball is used and matches are played until one team scores five points or time has expired, without playing chukkars. During tournament play, a time limit, such as 10 minutes, may be used to maximise the number of tournament rounds possible during the day. There are three core rules of play: In the case of a 'foot down' or 'dab' (touching the ground with one's foot) the player must "tap out" by riding to mid-court and hitting a designated area with their mallet. There is usually a tap-out located on either side of the court.

Max Bentley was known for his speed, passing and puck handling skills. He learned his trade with his brothers as they constantly played street hockey in the summers and on the ice in the winters. Bentley's father flooded a sheet of ice that was the length of a regulation NHL hockey rink but much narrower, forcing the boys to develop the ability to maintain control of the puck while making fast, hard turns to reach the net. He was nicknamed the "Dipsy Doodle Dandy from Delisle" in reference to his ability to skate around opponents who often found that the only way to stop him was via rough play.

Chasing Amy includes a scene in which Joey Lauren Adams and Ben Affleck attending a high school ice hockey game.

Lack of proper facilities allowed the physical education department to include activities not found in other high schools, such as Dance Dance Revolution, bowling (at a nearby bowling alley), cross-country skiing, archery, and street hockey. A large, sunken area outside of the school (called "The Pit") functioned as an outdoor gymnasium, housing the aforementioned archery and cross-country skiing activities and eventually allowing for the school’s first pep rally in the fall of 2005. The NAH currently mandates goals be 3 ft x 6 ft and must be placed no closer than 6 ft from the backboard. Court size does vary, but for a court to be used in an official NAH event it must be no larger than 155 ft x 80 ft (47.25m x 25m) and no smaller than 120 ft x 60 ft (37m x 18m), and have 4 ft high solid boards.

The facilities consists of 37 classrooms including an elementary wing, a new makerspace, 4 laboratories, 2 computer rooms, 5 offices, 2 music rooms, 3 art rooms, 2 book rooms, and a library with over 30,000 volumes, books, and audio- visual materials. The 4 secondary science laboratories are designed to be used by both secondary and elementary students. All classrooms, computer laboratories and the media center have access to the Internet, with a wireless network all around campus. There is abundant space for sports and recreation as the School has a full-size artificial turf soccer field, covered basketball courts, and a street hockey area.

Szto was born and raised in North Delta, British Columbia and played roller hockey and street hockey as a child. When reflecting on her experience in sports, she said, "I’ve been very fortunate to have positive experiences, but what I’ve realized the more I study it is that I’m one of the lucky ones and that it’s by chance." She attended North Delta Secondary School and earned her Bachelor of Human Kinetics degree from the University of British Columbia. Upon recieivng her degree, Szto travelled to Ontario for her Master's degree from the University of Toronto before returning to BC to earn her Doctorate of Philosophy from Simon Fraser University.

The town is near the South Saskatchewan River, and the man-made Lake Diefenbaker created by the Gardiner Dam, one of the world's largest earth-filled dams. Bill Bentley believed that all six boys could have played in the National Hockey League (NHL), though responsibilities on the family farm resulted in the eldest four boys spending the majority of their careers playing senior hockey on the Canadian Prairies. When The Hockey Company was purchased by Reebok, the Koho name was momentarily dropped and replaced by Reebok, with the intent of eventually phasing out the Koho name from its main product line. The Hockey Company did so previously with the Heaton brand, and would eventually do the same with the CCM goalie brand. Koho was then delegated to a price-point street hockey goalie equipment set, featuring the graphic of the 570. However, on Reebok's first goalie equipment lines, including the RBK Premier and RBK Premier 2, a small tag with the Koho by Lefebvre logo remained, as the names Koho and Lefebvre still had (and continue to have) residual market value.

Implemented at the start of the 2012-13 school year, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation developed PensFIT, a program designed to introduce children to the sport of hockey and facilitate an increase in physical activity. In 2012, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation provided 260 elementary schools (public and private) in Allegheny County with free ball hockey equipment and lesson plans as part of their commitment to physical fitness. Forest Lake Camp is located on of land and has of shoreline of its private lake. The camp has 19 camper sleeping cabins with bunk beds as well as several cabins for staff housing and 3 woods cabins for overnight trips. The camp has 2 riding rings, 2 stables, one camp store, a nature center, two activity offices, one infirmary, one craft barn and one nature & science shop. Among its sports related facilities are: 2 softball fields, 2 soccer fields, 2 lacrosse fields, 2 basketball courts, 1 street hockey rink, 4 tennis courts (2 clay and 2 hard court), 2 volleyball courts (one beach volleyball), 2 climbing walls, 6 ping pong tables, 6 tetherball courts, 1 riflery range, 1 Skeet shooting range, 1 dance and yoga pavilion, and 2 archery ranges.

While other sports have a larger spectator base, association football, known in Canada as soccer in both English and French, has the most registered players of any team sport in Canada, and is the most played sport with all demographics, including ethnic origin, ages and genders. Bourdon played major junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he was known as a smooth skating, offensive defenceman. Big things were expected of Bourdon when he was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the third round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, but after his first professional season of play, Bourdon was labeled a disappointment for contributing only 19 points in 61 games with the Adirondack Phantoms during the 2009–10 AHL season. To date, completed segments in Hoboken and the new parks and renovated piers that abut them are at Hoboken Terminal, Pier A, the promenade and bike path from Newark to 5th Streets, Frank Sinatra Park, Castle Point Park, Sinatra Drive to 12th to 14th Streets, New York Waterway Pier, 14th Street Pier, and 14th Street north to southern side of Weehawken Cove.
