Until that point, Bure had only played ball hockey on the streets.Banks 1999, pp. 7-11. After Bure failed to impress in his first tryout, his father told him that if he did not show significant improvement within two months, he would withdraw him from the hockey school.

Aitken House always has a good showing at each sporting event, and often is number one among the other UNB residences. Aitken House competes in many of UNB's intramural athletics. Every year the house is found at such sporting events as: Outdoor & Indoor Soccer, Softball & Co-Rec Softball, Flag football, Volleyball & Co-Rec Volleyball, Basketball, Water Polo, Ball Hockey & Ice Hockey, Co-Rec Ultimate Frisbee, and Broom Ball.

Growing up on Alderwood in Abasand in the 1990s, the Family Garage door was dented from numerous puck strikes during the winter from his Two Brothers and himself, relentless in the Pursuit of Greatness. Summers were spent playing ball hockey from garage to garage down the narrow street from 108 Alderwood. He owned the 'net'. Undrafted, Murphy played collegiate hockey with Michigan Tech of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

During January 2009, Cheverie was named to the team that competed at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter Universiade in Harbin, China. She would be part of the Canadian squad that would claim the gold medal in the women's ice hockey event. Cheverie also competed with the Italy women's national ball hockey team in international play. Participating at the 2015 world championship, she would lead the tournament in penalty minutes while compiling three points.

An offensive defenceman, Heaney appeared in 125 games with the Canadian National Team, scored 27 goals and recorded 66 assists. In World Championship play, she holds Canadian records for most games (35), goals (8), assists (28) and points (36) for a defenceman. A pioneer of modern women's hockey, Heaney has been recognized by numerous institutions. She has been inducted into the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association and Canadian Ball Hockey Halls of Fame.

Alicia Blomberg is a former ice hockey player. Having played at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport level with the Ottawa Gee Gees women's ice hockey program, she was also a member of the Canada women's national ball hockey team that won a gold medal at the 2013 and 2015 ISBHF World Championships. From 2012-15, Blomberg has also competed in the women's division at Red Bull Crashed Ice, capturing a bronze medal in 2014.

As a member of the Canada women's national ball hockey team, Urban played in seven games. The Canadian team went on to capture the gold medal, posting an undefeated mark. Urban’s first appearance for Canada in the tournament was a 10-0 win against Italy on June 22. A 9–1 win against Switzerland on June 24 saw Urban and Chelsea Purcell both gain the assist on a goal scored by April Drake.

One of the Hastings welcome signs. The municipality of Trent Hills is currently attempting to revitalize the economy with the help of an updated Trent Hills Economic Strategic Plan. A major undertaking was the construction of a new recreational facility for Hastings, a field house opened on July 3, 2015 by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield. The facility features a walking track, soccer field, golf driving range and courts for basketball, ball hockey, and racquet sports.

Dorset Collegiate (officially called Dorset Collegiate High School) is a school in Pilley's Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The principal is Mark Warren and the vice principal is Chris Roberts. The school is in Division B of the 3A Provincial Slo-Pitch Tournament and Division A of the 3A Boys Volleyball Provincials. The school also participates in the annual Under 14/16/19 Atlantic Team Qualifier badminton tournament and the 3A Ball Hockey Tournament.

The Seabird Island First Nations Festival was first established in May 1969 by Grand Chief Archie Charles and his wife Mary Charles. Today, the Seabird Island First Nations Festival is a celebration of First Nations diversity, culture, growth and First Nations sport talent. Each year the Seabird Island First Nations Festival hosts 9,000 visitors, entertainers, players, War Canoe-pullers, volunteers and sponsors. The tournaments include: Ball Hockey, Soccer, War Canoe racing and Slahal.

The International Street and Ball Hockey Federation holds several international tournaments with most being broken down by age groups and gender. These tournaments are typically bi-annual, such as the Men's and Women's 20 and over, the Men's and Women's Under 20, the Men's and Women's Under 18 and the Men's and Women's Under 16. There are also a Men's Masters Tournament for players aged 40 and over and a Women's Masters Tournament for players aged 35 and over.

Kulagin was born in Barnaul in the Siberia district of the Soviet Union. In 1930, along with his family, Kulagin moved to Moscow, where his father was stationed in the military. In 1936, Kulagin was enrolled in hockey lessons, joining the hockey (bandy) division of the Moscow Dynamo sports society. Kulagin continued to play ball hockey until the 1940s, when the Soviet Union Central Committee ordered the conversion of organized play into ice hockey, then considered "Canadian hockey".

Students are encouraged to get involved in the many clubs and teams available at Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School. Extra-curricular activities include athletics such as archery, basketball, cricket, rugby, ball hockey, cross country, volleyball, soccer, football, badminton, track and field, table tennis, as well as clubs including, Student Activity Council (SAC), DECA, HOSA, Model UN, Human Impact, Ecology Club, Yearbook Committee, Zonta Club, The Voice (school newspaper), Robotics (FRC), as well as a Concert Band.

The Nicola Valley Memorial Arena is a 1,000-seat multi-purpose year-round arena in Merritt, British Columbia, Canada. It is home to the Merritt Centennials ice hockey team, the Merritt Minor Hockey Association, recreational hockey, old-timers hockey, commercial hockey, and First Nations hockey programs. Off-season activities include seasonal hockey schools, First Nations pow wows, home shows, bingos, ball hockey, roller skating, volleyball, and circuses. The Arena is located on Mamette Avenue in downtown Merritt.

Behind the Community Centre is a large double dog park and an outdoor rink/ball hockey rink. In summer 2017 a huge playground (for ages 5 to 13) and a skate park will be added. The majority of the community's fishing fleet is berthed at the South River Harbour facility which is operated by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Other wharves include the Murray Harbour wharf, Machon Point wharf, and Beach Point wharf, as well as the Bowridge Landing Marina.

There are numerous extra curricular activities at Marc Garneau. Some of the clubs include chapters of DECA, MGCI EcoTeam, MGCI Muslim Student Association, Student Council, The Reckoner of MGCI, and the Key Club. The school has had several first and second-place finishes in the International DECA Competition. Garneau provides students with a wide variety of sports teams including: Football, Rugby, Basketball, Soccer, Volley Ball, Baseball, Field Hockey, Ultimate Frisbee, Cricket, Tennis, and an annual ball hockey tournament.

Kweit signed abroad on July 19, 2014, as a free agent in agreeing to a one-year contract with second division German club, ESV Kaufbeuren of the DEL2. After a season in Germany, Kwiet returned to North America agreeing to a second stint with the Greenville Road Warriors (later renamed the Swamp Rabbits) of the ECHL on August 14, 2015. In 2018, Kwiet competed in the National Ball Hockey Championships Division B with Windsor’s Rosati Construction team.

He helped Canada beat the Czech Republic 6–1 in the final. Tying for the lead in tournament scoring with five goals and 10 points, Burrows was named the Most Valuable Forward. Two years later, in 2005, he won his second World Championship in as many appearances with Canada in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He capped the season off by being named the 2005 International Player of the Year by the International Street and Ball Hockey Federation (ISBHF).

Smiths Falls is also home to the Settlers organization which is a member of the Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League (CPJHL), which operates throughout Ontario and Western Quebec. There are many opportunities for minor and adult league sports including baseball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, ball hockey and hockey (for men and women). Lower Reach, located next to Rideau River, is home to baseball diamonds, soccer fields, play structures and a splash pad. The Rideau Trail passes through Smiths Falls.

In Armenian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Mongol and Uzbek, bandy is known as "ball hockey" (գնդակով հոկեյ, допты хоккей, топтуу хоккей, бөмбөгтэй хоккей and koptokli xokkey respectively). In Finnish the two sports are distinguished as "ice ball" (jääpallo) and "ice puck" (jääkiekko), as well as in Hungarian (jéglabda; jégkorong), although in Hungarian it is more often called "bandy" nowadays. In Estonian bandy is also called "ice ball" (jääpall). In Mandarin Chinese it is "bandy ball" (班迪球).

Students are divided between Junior (Grades 3-8) & Senior Schools (Grades 9-12) during their careers and complete the Provincial requirements for Secondary School graduation, as well as being able to enroll in Advanced Placement programmes. Despite a medium-sized and urban campus, Athletics at the College have always played a vital part in student life. Teams include Rugby, Hockey, Tennis, Ball-Hockey, Soccer, Softball, Skiing, Volleyball, Cross-Country, Golf, Basketball, Snowboarding, Ultimate, Bicycling as well as Racquets. Judo is also popular.

He also appeared in three National Lacrosse League All-Star Games, two with the Rock, and one with the Wings. In 2003, Clark played for Team Canada as they won the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. In 2011, he became goaltending coach for Team Canada. Glenn played for the Eastenders ball hockey team out of Toronto, Ontario from 2013-2016 Off the floor, Clark was a former physical education teacher at Bayview Secondary School in Richmond Hill, Ontario before his retirement in 2019.

Field House In 2002, Crescent opened the "Field House", a 30,000-square-foot space (the size of three average gymnasiums) is used for tennis, basketball, indoor track and ball hockey. This replaced the three outdoor tennis courts that had been situated there before. Centre for Creative Learning In 2004, the Centre for Creative Learning opened, featuring a professionally equipped, 350-seat theatre, meeting rooms and a reception area. Innes Field In 2008, an artificial turf surface, called Innes Field, opened.

In February 2012 members of the Squad competed in the Fantastic Fours Dek Tournament in Gateshead Leisure Centre earning themselves a fleeting appearance on BSkyB. For the 2012-2013 season the Squad finished fourth in the UKBH Northern Conference and once again competed in the NEDekStars 'Fantastic Fours' Competition against 15 other teams In May 2013 the squad competed in the Ball Hockey UK National Championships and finished in second place to the South Notts Outlaws in the Tier III Final.

He avidly participated in many sports including volleyball, soccer, cross country running, high-jumping and ball hockey (as goaltender) – earning high school letters while maintaining academic honors. Jayner graduated in 2000 from Riverview High School.Riverview High School Alumni Accepted by both McGill and Concordia Universities, he promptly moved to Montreal and took an apartment off-campus (with Quebec skater Olivier Jean) to be near the National Training Center in the Maurice Richard Arena. They were coached by Dany Lemay and Yves Hamelin.

In addition, the school is attached to the Malton Community Pool (Operated by the City of Mississauga, formerly Westwood Pool) which provides many services to local residents. But in 2010 the pool was closed due to the construction of the new one across the street at the community centre. Lincoln also is home to an excellent ball hockey team which won the annual Blizzard Cup in 2012. The team is in its second year and was a finalist in OBHA in 2012.

Pine Point Park is a park in Toronto, Ontario, located on the east end junction of Allenby Avenue and Hadrian Drive, near the intersection of Highway 401 and Islington Avenue. The park itself is bordered by Albion Road to the west, Highway 401 to the south, and Humber River to the east. Pine Point Park was home to the Rexdale Streethawks ball hockey team. The team practiced regularly in the park in an old lacrosse practice facility known locally as "The Box".

As a member of the Canada women's national ball hockey team, Blomberg has captured two world championship gold medals in her career. Her first appearance for Canada was at the 2013 ISBHF World Championships in St. John's, Newfoundland. Returning to the Canadian team in 2015, she contributed towards Canada going undefeated in the tournament, claiming the gold medal for the second consecutive time. In the gold medal game against the Czech Republic, Blomberg logged a goal and a pair of assists in the 5-1 final.

The Athletics Department at Guildford Park provides students with opportunities to represent the school in multiple sport activities. Guildford Park participates in the following extra- curricular sports: Soccer, Freestyle Wrestling, Volleyball, Rugby, Basketball, Badminton, Ultimate Frisbee, Ball Hockey, and Ice Hockey. The Guildford Park wrestling team has won provincial high-school championships in 2004, 2008, and 2009 and has consistently finished the top ten every year. The Guildford Park ice hockey team won the division championship for Surrey High School Hockey League in 2014.

Rink Hockey Rink hockey is a variation of roller hockey. Rink hockey is the overarching name for a rollersport that has existed long before inline skates were "re-invented" in the '70s (They were actually invented before quads, in the 1760s). Rink hockey has been played on quad skates, in sixty countries worldwide and so has many names worldwide. Sometimes the sport is called quad hockey, international style ball hockey, roller hockey and hardball hockey, depending on which region of the world it is played.

The Ball Hockey World Championship is a biannual ball (street) hockey competition for women's and men's national teams. The first women's world championships were played in 2005, located in Pittsburgh, PA. The first championship was played in 1996 in Bratislava. Since the beginning of the best teams in Canada, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The first team to win a medal in addition to Canada, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the team of Italy in 2005 when he won the bronze medal match against Portugal.

Brian competed with Team Canada at the inaugural IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championships. She would capture a silver medal at the 2008 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship. In the autumn of 2014, Brian was named as one of the goaltenders for the Canada women's national ball hockey team at the 2015 ISBHF World Street Hockey Championships in Zug, Switzerland. During Canada's 3–2 win against Team USA on June 26, Brian earned one of the assists on the game–winning goal scored by Elysia Desmier.

When Mr. D. asks for tickets to a game, MacKinnon tells him that all the games, including those in exhibition and the following season, are sold out. MacKinnon has also appeared as himself in Trailer Park Boys, season 11 episode 7 at Ricky's ball hockey camp. In 2019, he appeared in Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series season 1 episode 3, again portraying himself. He, along with fellow Nova Scotian and NHL player Sidney Crosby, have appeared in a series of Tim Hortons commercials produced for YouTube.

She excelled at hockey, baseball and synchronized swimming as a young child. Her mother wanted her to focus on swimming due to the lack of opportunities for girls in hockey in the 1970s. Her passion was for hockey, however, and she was constantly playing ball hockey with the neighbourhood boys from the time she was in kindergarten. James first played organized hockey in a Flemingdon Park boys house league at the age of eight, and then only after her mother threatened legal action as officials opposed her inclusion.

Hockey Algeria is the public name of the authority which governs both ice hockey, inline hockey and ball hockey in Algeria. Hockey Algeria was founded in 2008 by Karim Kerbouche, Harond Litim and Nassim Boulakdem and was later accepted into the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) on 26 September 2019. The goal was to unite hockey players of Algerian origin from around the world, and create an Algerian national team. Hockey Algeria is an associate member of the IIHF and therefore has no right to vote in the General Assembly.

Inline Hockey is played on inline skates Inline hockey is a variation of roller hockey very similar to ice hockey, from which it is derived. It is referred to by many names worldwide, including Ball Hockey, Inline hockey, Roller hockey, Longstick hockey, Deck hockey, Road hockey, Street hockey and Skater hockey depending on which region of the world in which it is played. Like ice hockey, inline hockey is considered a contact sport, however body checking is prohibited. It is similar to ice hockey in that teamwork, skill and aggressiveness are needed.

The first artificial ice rink in Pardubice was built there in 1947, later being rebuilt into an indoor ice hockey arena in 1960. In 2001, it was completely renovated to become one of the largest indoor arenas in the Czech Republic. It is currently home to the HC Pardubice ice hockey team, as well as the BK Pardubice basketball team. It hosted the IIHF Ice Hockey World Junior Championships in 2002 and 2008, the IIHF Inline Hockey World Championships in 2011 and 2014, and the men's and women's Ball Hockey World Championships in 2017.

For many years the Club ran a 'Stick Training' session in the University Sports Centre. The aim of the session was to enhance the stick handling and fitness skills of players without the expense of valuable ice time. In the 2011-12 season Joy Craighead developed these sessions further and created the Club's Dek Squad. Dek, or 'Street & Ball Hockey', uses much of the same equipment as ice hockey but is played in a normal sports centre gym, rather than an ice rink, so players run rather than skate.

Brock Intramurals are active all year, with sports such as Volleyball, Flag Football, Slow-pitch, Water Polo, Ball Hockey, Soccer, Soccer Baseball and Tennis; and include Tournaments in Coed Quidditch, Coed Wallyball, Coed Ultimate, Coed Football and Basketball. Facilities such as The Zone Fitness Center, track, gymnasia, studios, pool and whirlpool, shower rooms, sauna, squash and outdoor tennis courts are free for current students. Some Brock undergraduate students take up roles of bloggers to write about their activities at school, some of which are accessible through Brock's website.

Maple Leaf Student Union is responsible for organizing Christmas Party, holding Sports Week, sanitary examination, promoting events and serving as a bridge between students and school's administration department. Gavin produced the film together with his old high school friend John Trapman (who had played in some of those ball hockey games), and Bob Smeaton, double Grammy Award-winning director of The Beatles Anthology was brought on board. The music tracks were mixed at Toronto's MetalWorks Studios and produced by Eddie Kramer, Jimi Hendrix's producer, and engineer for Led Zeppelin, Woodstock, and Derek & The Dominos Live In Concert. The film was produced by London-based Apollo Films (a division of Apollo Media) together with PeachTree Films in Amsterdam.

However, he has moments of cleverness and displays practical expertise, as in growing marijuana (at which his skill is unsurpassed), fixing cars, siphoning gas, playing ball hockey, and cooking. He is also extremely adept at fast-talking, negotiating himself and his friends out of seemingly impossible situations with a mixture of quick thinking, confident acting and overwhelming subjects with nonsensical yet somehow credible arguments. Though characters such as Lahey or the police deride him as a loser and a criminal, he's devoted to his friends and family, especially to his daughter Trinity.

Upward Sports is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States. It is a Christian sports league designed for kids in grades K5–8 offering four sports programs: basketball, flag football, soccer and cheerleading; in Canada, it also offers ball hockey. Upwards Sports was founded in 1995 by Caz McCaslin to provide children with "skills for the sports arena and values for life." While training children with the athletic skills needed to participate at the next level, Upward Sports stresses biblical values—such as leadership, teamwork, integrity and respect—as much as winning.

Hitler refused and when he was threatened by Sherrill with an American boycott, promised purely German Olympic Games. Sherrill sent the information to the IOC president, Henri de Baillet-Latour, who did not insist on Jewish participation on the German teams. After the Nuremberg Racial Laws, only Half- Jews, with no more than two of the four grandparents being racially Jewish, were still permitted to represent Germany. With Theodor Lewald as President of the Organizing Committee for the Summer Games, Rudi Ball (hockey, Winter Games) and Helene Mayer (Fencing, Summer Games), three Half Jews calmed world public opinion.

Vaughan Road Academy had interscholastic and intramural teams for badminton, ball hockey, baseball, basketball, cricket, cross country running, flag football, hockey, soccer, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field and volleyball and knuckeballs. Vaughan Road competed in TDSSAA and Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) as the Vaughan Road Vipers, which was not to be confused with a similarly named junior hockey team in Vaughan, Ontario. In 2004, the Vipers came second in the OFSAA 'AA' Provincial Championships and won the OFSAA 'AA' Provincial Championships in 2012. Since the school's closure, Vaughan Road Vipers disbanded.

2015 saw Pitre address a We Day crowd in Ottawa, and attend the NHL Awards in Las Vegas, invited by the Ottawa Senators, his favourite hockey team. A later TSN documentary about him won a Canadian Screen Award.Andrew Duffy, In July 2018, the Ontario Ball Hockey Association (OBHA) held a tournament in his honour, with part of the entry fee donated to DEBRA Canada. Pitre received a stem cell transplant at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 8, 2016, using cells taken from the hip of his mother, Tina Boileau.

The DSBN Academy takes students in from anywhere in the Niagara Peninsula promising a future for students from whatever socio- economic class the opportunity to reach post-secondary education. As such, the Academy receives a diverse enrolment of students from every background. The DSBN Academy provides for its student an array of extracurricular programs and activities including: Seasonal sports, Reach for the Top Trivia Team, science club, art club, fitness, Student Innovators, homework club, fishing club, ball hockey, school band, Gay-Straight Alliance, Magic the Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, choir, and book club. At the Academy, extracurriculars are known as "Encores" and create a sense of school spirit, and personal exploration.

The Downsview Park Sports Centre is a 45,000-square-metre (485,000-square-feet) multi-purpose facility, formerly an aircraft hangar for the de Havilland Aircraft Company and later the Canadian Forces. Downsview Park's most regular attraction is The Hangar, an indoor recreational facility within the Downsview Park Sports Centre, which accommodates approximately 600,000 visitors per year to its soccer, ball hockey and beach volleyball facilities alone. Winter 2011 saw the welcome addition of a domed field, expanding winter field availability. During the summer of 2009, Toronto Roller Derby started playing their home games at Downsview, using a space in the Downsview Park Sports Centre's west end.

Morneau grew up in New Westminster, British Columbia, the historic "Royal City", adjacent to Vancouver, where he played hockey for the local minor team, the New Westminster Royals, and emerged as a star goaltender, playing for teams a year older than he was. He also played baseball in the New Westminster Minor Baseball Association and for the North Delta Blue Jays in the B.C. Premier Baseball League. Morneau attended Lord Tweedsmuir Elementary School in New Westminster, later transferring to Richard McBride Elementary School, where his mother was a teacher and coach and where he enrolled in a French immersion program. He played basketball and volleyball and ball hockey on the school teams.

Purcell was among the members of the Canadian national women's team that captured the gold medal on home soil at the 2013 ISBHF World Street Hockey Championships in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. Of note, she was one of four CWHL players named to the 2013 roster, including Mallory Johnston of the Brampton Thunder, and both Jenny Brine and Britni Smith of the Toronto Furies. Purcell has participated in four Canadian national ball hockey championships with the Alberta Rockies, capturing a bronze medal in 2014. In the autumn of 2014, Purcell was named as one of the forwards for the Canadian national women's team at the 2015 ISBHF World Street Hockey Championships in Zug, Switzerland.

The group had the idea to form the group while car pooling to ball hockey. While initially it was just going to be a faux hip-hop act, they started doing DJ sets around Montreal, eventually putting together a live show. After doing a few shows "freestyling" someone had videotaped one of these shows, with Apsobibi doing a chorus about Montreal's public bike system, BIXI Montréal. A producer at CJAD in Montreal came across this video and asked if the band could do a studio version that they could play on the air. After shooting a video for the track, it went viral hitting 7,000 plays in two days and 38,000 to date.

The Billy Gebbie Arena, occupies a portion of the Glengarry Sports Palace (which also includes a branch of the SD&G; County Library, a community hall, two baseball diamonds, and a soccer field), has been the home of the Alexandria Glens since 1976. The arena is also home for the Alexandria & District Minor Hockey Association, Glengarry Girls Hockey Association, and the Alexandria Ladies Ball Hockey League. It is located in Alexandria, Ontario, and has a capacity of 500+ for hockey games. When the ice is out (typically from April through August), the arena floor hosts a number of events, including the Alexandria & District Chamber of Commerce Trade Show and once every three years the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner/ceremony.

Italy made its world championship debut at the 2013 world championship, hosted in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, finishing with a 1–2–0 record. Diana Brown was the head coach for Italy's inaugural entry in the ball hockey worlds, with Michel Bodaly served as an assistant coach. Serving as team captain at the 2013 Worlds was Flora Fioccola (Pannunzio), who served as Team Italia's general manager at the 2015 Worlds. As a side note, Brown would serve as the head coach for Team Canada in a gold medal effort at the 2015 ISBHF Women's Worlds, also winning a Canadian national championship with the Toronto Shamrocks in the same calendar year. Italy's first game was played against USA on June 4, 2013, losing in a 3–2 final.

The campus is currently leased from the federal government under a $1, 50-year lease agreement with Royal Roads University which was announced in 2001. The Department of National Defence leases approximately 55 hectares of land for the campus to Royal Roads University, and has entered into a five-year Renewable Management Agreement with the University for the maintenance of the remaining 175 hectares of property owned by the Department of National Defence. The athletic facilities at Hatley Park included a swimming pool, five tennis courts, two squash courts, three soccer pitches, one rugby field, two ball diamonds, a quarter- mile track, a 6.1 km cross country course, jetty and boat house. Cadets played sports including rugby, soccer, baseball, golf, scuba diving, track and field, wrestling, ball hockey, broomball, and hockey.

Implemented at the start of the 2012-13 school year, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation developed PensFIT, a program designed to introduce children to the sport of hockey and facilitate an increase in physical activity. In 2012, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation provided 260 elementary schools (public and private) in Allegheny County with free ball hockey equipment and lesson plans as part of their commitment to physical fitness. In addition to providing the equipment, the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, and California University of Pennsylvania devised a street hockey curriculum that is not only suitable for physical education classrooms, but also can be used in community recreation center programs. The PensFIT program provides teacher training, instruction and supplemental materials, and the opportunity for continuing education sessions featuring Pittsburgh Penguins coaching staff and alumni.

Because the Festival Express tour turned out to be a complete financial disaster, the promoters injuncted the film footage and the film project was shelved soon afterwards, as the footage mysteriously disappeared. Some of the film's reels turned up in the garage of the original producer Willem Poolman, where they had been stored for decades and used at various times as goal posts for ball hockey games played by his son Gavin when he was a teenager. The plan to resurrect the film was started in 1999 by executive producer Garth Douglas and story consultant James Cullingham, who found many more reels in the Canadian National Film Archives vault, where it had been kept in pristine condition, unknown to the world. Garth got in touch with Gavin, who had grown up to become a film producer based in London, England.
