The Tulauta Village Site is a prehistoric village site (local archaeological designation AS-21-1) in far eastern Tutuila, the largest island of American Samoa. The site includes 10-13 house sites, a number of grave site, and other features, including stone enclosures interpreted as pig sties, fire pits, and walls. An upright basalt slab was found, which may have been of local religious significance. Early archaeological testing took place here in the 1970s, with more extensive examinations in the 1980s and 1990s.

Lomse's name was of Old Prussian origin and referred to marshland. Only the western end of the island was heavily developed, with the remainder consisting mostly of meadows. The land was granted to Altstadt in 1286 and was initially used as a lumberyard and then as a warehouse quarter. Kneiphof feared that Altstadt's control of Lomse would lead to a trade war; in 1434 Grand Master Paul von Rusdorf negotiated a compromise in which only sties and barns would be built at a prescribed distance from the river.

An interesting note to the agricultural heritage of the community is that there was resistance from the village residents in the late l9th century to the removal of pig-sties from private homes and it is on record that there were eight farms in the village which were required to be registered as dairies.
