Near the outlet from Lake Taminah lies Shoshoko Falls, which later flows into Taggart Creek.

Skaði declared that henceforth the snowdrift should be called "Breði's drift," and ever since then people have referred to large snow drifts by that name. The fact that Sigi murdered Breði was evident, and so Sigi was considered an outlaw. Led by Odin, Sigi leaves the land, and Skaði is not mentioned again in the saga. Scholar Jesse Byock notes that the goddess Skaði is also associated with winter and hunting, and that the episode in Völsunga saga involving the male Skaði, Sigi, and Breði has been theorized as stemming from an otherwise lost myth.

He also refuses to clean his barn; so as the legal owner, Gummi must step in and clean it – which he does while Kiddi is in hospital. Upon his return, sobered-up Kiddi accidentally discovers Gummi's hidden sheep and wants to help save them, but Gummi refuses all association. When a member of the cleanup team also discovers the sheep, the two brothers are forced to collaborate and attempt to drive them into the highlands in a blizzard. Their quad bike bogs down in a snowdrift, and the brothers become separated.

Wendy runs through the hotel looking for Danny, encountering ghosts, a cascade of blood Danny envisioned in Boulder, and Hallorann's corpse. In the hedge maze, Danny lays a false trail to mislead Jack and hides behind a snowdrift while Jack follows the false trail. Danny escapes from the maze and reunites with Wendy; they leave in Hallorann's snowcat, while Jack, now hopelessly lost in the maze, freezes to death.

Sandoz was born near Hay Springs, Nebraska, the eldest of six children born to Swiss immigrants, Jules and Mary Elizabeth (Fehr) Sandoz. In each of these he endeavoured to embody a playfulness which was occasionally less sculpturesque than literary. Daisy Lake is a lake in the Arctic Ocean and Great Slave Lake drainage basins in South Slave Region, Northwest Territories, Canada. The lake is about long and wide, lies at an elevation of , and is located about southeast of the settlement of Fort Reliance on McLeod Bay, the large easternmost bay of Great Slave Lake. It is also just southeast of the McDonald Fault. The primary inflow is an unnamed creek at the northeast, and the primary outflow is an unnamed creek at the southeast that empties into Dion Lake, whose waters in turn flow via Robert Lake and the Snowdrift River to Great Slave Lake at the community of Lutselk'e.

The Alfa Romeo crashes off the road and into a snowdrift and Rene is not hurt; however, the horse box is flipped over and the girl and horse badly injured. Theo is dazed, but René, rather than helping, takes a photo of him, and as he walks off, Theo is stricken by a strange snake-like scar on the back of René's head. The practice of schedule chicken often results in contagious schedules slips due to the inter team dependencies and is difficult to identify and resolve, as it is in the best interest of each team not to be the first bearer of bad news. The psychological drivers underlining the "Schedule Chicken" behavior are related to the Hawk-Dove or Snowdrift model of conflict used by players in game theory. The term derives from the game of chicken played between drivers, as depicted in the movie Rebel Without a Cause, in which two drivers race their hot-rods towards a cliff edge. The first driver to jump out of the car is labeled a "chicken," while the one closest to the edge wins bragging rights.

For his next serial, Hergé planned to put together a story that caricatured the actions of Nazi Germany, developing the plot for King Ottokar's Sceptre. However, he temporarily set aside that project when he began to experience dreams of white and a car stuck in the snow, having ideas of sending Tintin to the north, considering Greenland or the Klondike as potential locations. The result was The Black Island, although Hergé only sent Tintin as far north as Scotland, and he instead used the idea of the car stuck in a snowdrift on a greetings card that he designed. The Telegraph reviewer Mark Monahan gave the episode 4/5 stars and noted that the drama was "thrilling stuff: escapist entertainment with a very real-world sting in its tail". He equated the episode with the stronger of the previous Black Mirror episodes, stating that "it exaggerated present-day technology and obsessions to subtle but infernal effect, a nightmare-before-Christmas reminder that to revere our digital gizmos is to become their pathetic slave". Ellen E Jones of The Independent also praised the episode, summarising that the episode was "great on our technology culture, but also just great; well cast, expertly structured and genuinely unsettling". She also compared it favourably to other Christmas television episodes, concluding that: "at a time of year when schmaltz usually covers the TV schedules like a snowdrift, this sidelong look at the state of humanity is all the more welcome".

Roe, the more knowledgeable one, informs his friend what it is. Pea spots the picture of a woman in the paper and a snowdrift and asks Roe what these things are. After defining what snow is, Roe then points to a snowman in the paper for the benefit of Pea. Pea is confused about what word to use for the snowman, at first describing it as “awkward,” and then, after Roe differs, saying he meant to say “strikingly wonderful” and “very well-made.” Pea is additionally confused about how the snowman is not a real man. Roe corrects him, saying that “he is an imitation of a man.” This ultimately leads Pea to question his own identity and what he is made of, as well as what Roe and the woman in the paper are made of. Pea decides he wants to meet the woman in the paper.

Many of the unit's films celebrated the running of Britain's nationalised railway network; early titles such as Train Time,Train Time (1952) British Transport Films by Railroad Classics on YouTube Elizabethan Express and Snowdrift at Bleath Gill aimed to document and celebrate the achievements and hard work of railway staff and their machinery.BFI Screenonline Others documented a particular aspect of running a railway, for example running a station as seen in This is York and later Terminus. Somewhat paradoxically, many of the unit's films celebrated a quiet, unchanging image of rural Britain – with travelogues such as The Heart of England (1954), The Lake District (also 1954), Three Is Company (1959), Down to Sussex (1964) and Midland Country (as late as 1974) – while simultaneously invoking the "white heat of technology" in its other work, such as its Report on Modernisation series instigated in 1959 (renamed Rail Report in 1965). The unit won many awards over the years, including in 1965 an Academy Award nomination for Snow Short Film Winners: 1966 Oscars-YouTube and in 1966 its first and only win for the film Wild Wings Short Film Winners: 1967 Oscars-YouTube (the latter which had little to do with transport and concentrated on WWT Slimbridge in Gloucestershire, founded by Peter Scott (who also narrated).
