After publishing Love at Second Sight, Leverson stopped writing fiction. She worked on ever smaller projects, such as writing the preface to Whom You Should Marry, a book about astrology.

Seeing the future This may be linked to the belief, recorded elsewhere, that looking through a holed stone gives a person 'second sight', and some later Christian pilgrim sites retain the holed stones which exist in the area so that pilgrims may get a 'glimpse of heaven.' Connected with this was the belief by that looking through a piece of grass made into a circle one was given second sight into the land of the supernatural, making fairies visible, etc.Second sight Passing through the stone may be symbolic of 'rebirth', however it seems that the idea of transferring the disease or condition to the stone was uppermost in the thoughts of the practitioners. He is perhaps most famous for his 1993 memoir Second Sight, which recounts his experience of becoming totally blind at age 50 and then partially recovering his sight 15 years later with the benefit of a high-risk operation. During the 1670s, in the western islands of Scotland, Janet began publicly "demonstrating" said sight by seeking out "images", objects allegedly made by witches. The phenomenon of second sight was often considered witchcraft itself. By the time she moved to Glasgow, traveling alone at the age of eleven, she was mobbed by people wanting to discover if witchcraft was the cause of their ill luck, given word already reached the city before her arrival. After she had told several members of the crowd where they could the images, the crowd stirred itself into such a frenzy that the magistrates quickly put her under protective custody.

Projects like Second Sight, Timescape and The Perennial Eye, assembled under the main title Eye on Time, document the change of the world's surface during time.

Second Sight was being produced around the time of the 1988 Writers Guild of America strike, which led to problems with both the script and the cast. Filming was completed in Boston, Massachusetts. Bronson Pinchot spent about three months meeting with psychics to research for the part, largely with one who was retained by writer Patricia Resnick as a technical advisor for the film. Pinchot said he found that most of them were very straightforward, intelligent and normal people, unlike the quirky and weird character he planned to play; Pinchot said the research was nevertheless helpful in determining how to play the part differently than actual psychics.

It is used as a visual prosthesis to improve the vision of people with severe cases of retinitis pigmentosa. The Argus II version of the system was approved for marketing in the European Union in March 2011, and it received approval in the US in February 2013 under a humanitarian device exemption. The Argus II system costs about US$150,000, excluding the cost of the implantation surgery and training to learn to use the device.

The International Biennale of Contemporary Art 2005: A Second Sight (IBCA 2005) was a contemporary art exhibition from June 14 to September 11, 2005, held in the National Gallery, Prague, in the Czech Republic. The Biennale was held under the auspices of Václav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic, and Pavel Bém, Lord Mayor of the capital city, Prague. IBCA 2005 focused on the transitional phenomena of post-modern culture in response to new creative ideas of artists resulting from changes in contemporary civilization. The International Biennale showcased trends in photography, VideoArt and new communication media. There was also a presentation of “traditional” media, particularly painting.

In 1983, after the publication of Joy Hester, Burke left Australia for Tuscany where she had a residency at Paretaio, the house of Australian artist Arthur Boyd which is situated near Palaia, halfway between Pisa and Florence. Judith Blackall, now gallery curator and manager, National Art School Sydney, had established the Boyd home as a studio and residency for artists, administered by the Australia Council for the Arts. Artists resident around the same time as Burke included Janet Laurence, Elizabeth Gower, John Neeson and Domenico de Clario. There Burke completed her first novel, Speaking, and began her next novel, Second Sight, which won the 1987 Victorian Premier's Literary Award for fiction.

The review discovered problems in 2011 and 2012, when Post Office Ltd discovered defects which had caused a shortfall of up to £9,000 at 76 Post Office branches. Fira Basuki (born June 7, 1972) is an Indonesian novelist. Arguably her most famous work is her trilogy debut consisting of Jendela-Jendela (The Windows), Pintu (The Door) and Atap (The Roof). The trilogy concerning the journeys of Javanese brother and sister Bowo and June; from graduating high school, studying abroad in the US, their meta-physical experiences (especially Bowo's "second sight" and aura-reading capabilities), relationships with people of different nationalities (especially June's Tibetan husband), and their return home to Indonesia. Her novel, Brownies, was adapted to a movie which was nominated for Best Picture at the 2005 Indonesian Film Festival, eventually losing out to Gie (though Brownies did earn a Best Director Citra award for Hanung Bramantyo).

Lush held the recording sessions for Scar at Blackwing Studios in south London in July 1989. The sessions were originally intended to only produce a three-song demo, with "Etheriel" as a potential A-side single release. The band instead recorded three full-form songs ("Baby Talk", "Thoughtforms" and "Scarlet"), and decided on the strength of the recordings to produce a further three songs ("Bitter", "Second Sight" and "Etheriel") to accommodate the release of a mini album. An extensive amount of vocal and guitar overdubs were recorded during Scars sessions, but neither Anderson nor Berenyi spent much time experimenting with their guitar sound as they did on subsequent releases such as Mad Love and Spooky; Anderson said "it was just either clean or distorted—that was it".

In August 2018, THQ Nordic announced that it had acquired the rights to Second Sight and the TimeSplitters franchise from Crytek. In September, THQ Nordic acquired the intellectual property to Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, including the cancelled project Copernicus, from 38 Studios, as well as Act of War and the Alone in the Dark franchise from Atari. Canby also suggested that second sight was not convincing on screen, since it appeared simply like flash-forward which is a standard story-telling device in films, and concluded that "Not only do you probably have better things to do, but so, I'm sure, do most of the people connected with the film." British critics were especially enthusiastic about Nicolas Roeg's direction. Molly grew up as the only daughter of a large Irish family on a farm in Crossmaglen, constantly having to assert herself against her brothers. She learned detailed, practical knowledge about magic and fairies from her "mad" paternal grandmother (who had second sight). For example, Molly knew her friend Marya would be able to ride a unicorn to escape an attack from Daniel because she was still a virgin (with her decision not to ride it herself implying that she was not); she also demonstrated knowledge of the danger of accepting gifts or eating Faerie food when she was trapped in the realm. This knowledge was not the only thing she inherited from her grandmother: Molly takes medication to prevent the auditory and visual hallucinations which run in her family.

The Beyond were then signed to EMI subsidiary Harvest (best known as Pink Floyd's label throughout the seventies and early eighties). This led to support slots with Soundgarden, Xentrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Acid Reign, Claytown Troupe and Living Colour. In 1991, Harvest released the album Crawl which included the singles One Step Too Far (which included covers of Mudhoney's Touch Me I'm Sick and The Doors' Break on Through (To the Other Side)), Empire and The Raging E.P.. Crawl was a diverse album with evident prog, thrash, jazz and alt influences. The following year, Crawl was released in the US on the Continuum label with a revised track listing ('Second Sight' was replaced by former UK b-sides 'Nail' and 'Everybody Wins'), followed subsequently by a European support slot to Canadian band Rush.

Film historians Richard Jewell and Vernon Harbin described The Falcon and the Co-eds as handicapped by a "twisting and turning narrative" that revealed a "sloppiness". In a recent review for the Time Out Film Guide, Tom Milne wrote, "Despite the off-putting title, an attractive little thriller in which the Falcon investigates murder in a girls' school, where an atmosphere of fear and loathing centres on a girl with second sight, while she herself is driven to suicidal despair by her predictions of murder. David Stubbs review of Gala in Melody Maker referred to the songs on Scar as "semi-ethereal, bittersweet confection" and "regular and reliable consignments". Selects review of Gala was particularly favourable of Scars material; Graham Linehan wrote that "'Thoughtforms' [and] 'Etheriel' [are songs] that nestle in the backbrain and kickstart whatever pleasure circuits you have left", adding that "'Baby Talk' and 'Second Sight' [are] songs that try to get from A to B as quickly and as loudly as possible without trembling to bits". Writing for Vox, Susan Corrigan referred to Scars songs as "chilly tunes with a warm centre" in a review of Gala, and said that with "Etheriel" and "Thoughtforms", "great things were hinted at … Lush already boasted songs that were worth remembering". As a result of Scars widespread critical acclaim, Lush were featured in year-end readers' polls in both Melody Maker and Sounds, tipped as the "Brightest Hope" for music in 1990 in the latter alongside Pixies, the Stone Roses and the Sundays.

95 While The Mystery of the Sea does not explicitly refer to colonization and does not address fears of degeneration into savagery as do many novels in the Imperial Gothic realm, Stoker's novel addresses the occult within a cross- cultural context, and race is a pervasive theme. Stoker creates a multi- layered historical and political background by setting the events of the novel during the Spanish–American War but with a centuries-old basis in the sixteenth-century conflict between England and Spain. In this manner, the Spanish are presented as a looming threat to Anglo-American society, and the struggle of power and values characteristic of Imperial fiction manifests itself here on a domestic level, with fears of invasion reminiscent of Dracula. The occult plays a role in confronting this foreign threat to power and stability through Archibald's gift of Second Sight and the presence of an ongoing dialogue on fate in the midst of the political intrigue.

In Northern Lights it is noted that most servants have dog dæmons (although a maid was noted with a hen dæmon), and all witches' dæmons take the form of a bird of some kind. In La Belle Sauvage Malcolm and Alice meet a woman they think of as a fairy who has a flock of butterflies rather than a single dæmon. At the beginning of the trilogy, Lord Asriel claims that the act of settling triggers Dust to begin to be attracted to the person. A person's dæmon is usually of the opposite sex to its human; however, very occasionally, it may be the same sex as the person. Pullman has admitted that the reason for this is unknown even to himself, and has agreed that it may also indicate some other gift or quality, such as second sight, or that the person is homosexual, adding "There are plenty of things about my worlds I don’t know, and that’s one of them".

Smith was born in Cripplegate, London in 1864. His father Charles Smith was a ticket-writer and artist.Hall (1964), p. 92. He moved with his family to Brighton, where his mother ran a boarding house on Grand Parade, following the death of his father. It was in Brighton in the early 1880s that Smith first came to public attention touring the city's performance halls as a stage hypnotist. In 1882 he teamed up with Douglas Blackburn in an act at the Brighton Aquarium involving muscle reading, in which the blindfolded performer identifies objects selected by the audience, and second sight, in which the blindfolded performer finds objects hidden by his assistant somewhere in the theatre.Hall (1964), pp. 92-94. The Society for Psychical Research (SPR) accepted Smith's claims that the act was genuine and after becoming a member of the society he was appointed private secretary to the Honorary Secretary Edmund Gurney from 1883 to 1888.

Bowerman is also a professional photographer, and house committee chair and Trustee of Denville Hall the Actor's Retirement Home (and charity) as well as a former Trustee of The Actors' Charitable Trust.

Century Arms FN FAL rifle built from an L1A1 parts kit SLRs could be modified at unit level to take two additional sighting systems. The first was the "Hythe sight," formally known as the "Conversion Kit, 7.62mm Rifle Sight, Trilux, L5A1" (L5A2 and L5A3 variants with different foresight inserts also existed) and intended for use in close range and in poor lighting conditions. The sight incorporated two rear sight aperture leaves and a permanently glowing tritium foresight insert for improved night visibility, which had to be replaced after a period of time due to radioactive decay. Morton trained in London at the Central School of Speech and Drama from 1965–68 and is well known for his roles in several leading drama series, such as Taggart, Second Sight, Between the Lines, Minder, and Casualty; movies such as Croupier and London to Brighton; and single dramas The One That Got Away (1996), Looking After Jo Jo (1998), and The Man-Eating Wolves of Gysinge (2005). He is best known for playing the ghillie Golly Mackenzie in the BBC TV series Monarch of the Glen (2000–2005, appearing in all 64 episodes), and before that made regular appearances over the 1980s and 1990s as the evil Andy Semple in Scottish soap Take the High Road. Highlights of his stage career include a Scots rendition of Shakespeare's Macbeth and R.P. McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, both directed by Robert Carlyle, who was a founder member, with Morton, of the Raindog Theatre Company in the 1990s. Morton also worked regularly with theatre companies 7:84 and Borderline, and has appeared at the Traverse, the Lyceum, the Bush, the Royal Court, in repertory all over the UK, as well as regular appearances in pantomime, notably at Glasgow's King's Theatre.
