The Silver Salver is a greyhound racing competition held annually at Central Park Stadium in Sittingbourne, Kent. It was inaugurated as the Thames Silver Salver in 1933 at Southend Stadium but was discontinued following the closure of the stadium in 1985. However it was resurrected in 1988 by Canterbury. Once again the competition came to an end when Canterbury closed in 1999.

In 1487 he wrote a letter of introduction to Pope Innocent VIII for his half brother Wilhelm who was being sent to the Vatican as emissary of Archbishop Hermann IV of Cologne.

The four reserves on the boss of the dish each contain a classical god, together with elements. The reserves around the rim show Minerva presiding over the seven liberal arts: astronomy, geometry, arithmetic, music, rhetoric, dialectic and grammar, each with relevant attribute. Brian Jones, along with Bertrand Piccard, co-piloted the first successful uninterrupted circumnavigation of the world on board the balloon Breitling Orbiter 3. They set off on 1 March 1999 from Château d'Oex in Switzerland and landed in Egypt after a 45,755 kilometre flight lasting 19 days, 21 hours and 47 minutes. At the conclusion of World War II, a silver salver was presented to the Australian Corps of Signals by Princess Mary as a memento of the co-operation between the Royal Corps of Signals and the Australian Corps of Signals throughout the Second World War. On 10 November 1948, His Majesty King George VI conferred the title "Royal" on the Australian Corps of Signals. The day is recognised a "Corps Day", and commemorative functions are held on, or as near as possible to, 10 November each year. Approval was given by Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, the Signals Corps' Colonel-in-Chief, on 10 September 1980 for the Corps to carry a banner bearing her Cipher.

J. B. Holmes swept the competition by winning the Old Mutual Long Drive Challenge, the Cadillac Closet to the Pin and the Payne Stewart Salver Award for low medalist with a score of -4 (68). In 2009, Isleworth took a 6 to 4 point lead into the second day singles matches, but Lake Nona rallied and won 11 points outright and halved four matches. Isleworth scored seven points in singles play. This left Lake Nona with 17 points and Isleworth 13. The Old Mutual Long Drive Challenge was won by Retief Goosen, who hit a 325-yard drive on Hole #9, and by Tiger Woods, who hit a 320-yard drive on Hole #15.

Maguire contributed 1 point of the GB & Ireland total. On 5 July Maguire was selected for the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars Team for the third year in a row. On 10 July Maguire was awarded the 2017 Edith Cummings Munson Golf Award by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). She is only the second golfer in history to win both the Edith Cummings Munson Golf Award and the WGCA Player of the Year in the same season. On 6 August at the Kingsbarns Golf Links, Scotland, Maguire made the cut and was runner-up for the Smyth Salver awarded to the leading amateur at the Ricoh Women's British Open, one of the major professional championships, after rounds of 69, 71, 70, 75.

Just two months after the Derby defeat he won the Laurels at Wimbledon over 500 yards. In the heats he broke the track record recording 28.03 and then bettered it in the semi finals when posting 27.99, becoming the first greyhound to break 28 seconds over 500 yards at Wimbledon. After the Laurels he competed in the Silver Salver at Southend Stadium; he won both heat and semi final but on 19 September lost the final to Red Wind, who break the track record in the process. After a rest he reappeared on 10 December at White City over 550 yards and broke the track record recording 30.30 and then on Boxing Day he went even faster by setting a new record of 30.27.

Along with a television documentary on the history of Indian cricket broadcast on Doordarshan, India's Test cricket captains were honoured during the 2nd final at the Eden Gardens in Calcutta (now Kolkata) – from the then 86-year-old Lala Amarnath to the then-captain, 24-year-old Sachin Tendulkar. All the captains took a lap around the Eden Gardens in a jeep, receiving a standing ovation from the 75,000-strong assembled crowd. Each man received a silver salver, while Vijay Hazare received the C. K. Nayadu Trophy. The captains honoured included Polly Umrigar, Datta Gaekwad, Pankaj Roy, Gulabrai Ramchand, Nari Contractor, Chandu Borde, Ajit Wadekar, Bishen Singh Bedi, Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastri, Krishnamachari Srikkanth and Mohammad Azharuddin.

In some jurisdictions it is the custom at the end of the Anaphora for the altar server to hand the bowl of antidoron to the priest who will make the Sign of the Cross with it over the chalice and diskos during the hymn, It is Truly Meet. Since the Eucharist is essentially a meal, in the Russian Orthodox tradition some of the antidoron is placed on a tray together with ordinary wine and is consumed by the communicants immediately after they receive Holy Communion. At the conclusion of the liturgy, the antidoron is distributed to the faithful as they come up to kiss the blessing cross.

On 1 March 1999, Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones launched in the balloon Breitling Orbiter 3, a bright red, carbon-composite, egg-shaped craft measuring sixteen feet long and seven feet in diameter, from Château d'Oex in Switzerland on the first successful non-stop balloon circumnavigation of the globe—- the first circumnavigation not requiring any fuel for forward motion. Piccard and Jones, in cooperation with a team of meteorologists on the ground, maneuvered into a series of jet streams that carried them 25,361 miles to land in Egypt after a flight lasting 19 days, 21 hours, and 47 minutes. In recognition of this accomplishment, he received awards including the Harmon Trophy, the FAI Gold Air Medal and the Charles Green Salver.

The first tournament was played at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lytham St Annes in Lancashire, England and was won by Lady Margaret Scott, who also won the following two years; her feat of three straight titles remains the record, matched by Cecil Leitch and Enid Wilson. In 1927, Simone de la Chaume of France, who had won the 1924 British Girls Amateur Golf Championship, became the first golfer from outside the British Isles to win the Ladies Championship. The first competitor from the United States to win the title was Babe Zaharias in 1947. The "Pam Barton Memorial Salver" is awarded to the winner to be held for one year, as the actual Championship Cup is held by the Ladies' Golf Union.

Burton's commissions include a silver table fountain for the Fishmongers' Company, an 18 carat gold and sapphire chain for the Butchers' Company, an offertory salver for Lichfield Cathedral and a centerpiece commissioned by Sir Roy Strong to launch the permanently exhibited modern plate collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Other works include a set of silver wall sconces for a London financial institution and the Pataudi Trophy, a prize commissioned by the MCC to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's Test debut, presented when the Indian cricket team toured England in 2007. The MCC loaned the trophy to be exhibited in November and December 2012 at Burton's Bentley & Skinner Exhibition. Burton's work features in private and public collections including, 10 Downing Street, York Minster, Longleat, St Paul's Cathedral and the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.

The tradition of Agatha Buns, Agatha bread, or so-called St Agatha's Breasts or Minne di Sant'Agata (Italian/Sicilian for Breasts of St. Agatha) or Minni di Virgini (Italian/Sicilian for Breasts of (a) virgin), served or blessed on her feast day, is found in many countries. Some sterling silver salvers produced in the 1730s A salver is a flat heavy tray of silver, other metal or glass used for carrying or serving glasses, cups, and dishes at a table, or for the presenting of a letter or card by a servant. In a royal or noble household the fear of poisoning led to the custom of tasting the food or beverage before it was served to the master and his guests; this was known as the assay of meat and drink, and in Spanish was called salva. The verb salvar means to preserve from risk, from the Latin salvare, to save. The term salva was also applied to the dish or tray on which the food or drink was presented after the tasting process.

Born in Eskilstuna, Sweden, Nordqvist was a successful amateur golfer in both Europe and the United States. She was Swedish Junior Player of the Year (2004, 2005), Swedish Amateur of the Year (2005), Girls Amateur Champion (2005), bronze medallist at the European Ladies Amateur Championship (2005), runner-up at the British Ladies Amateur in 2006 and 2007, and finally winner of the championship in her third successive final in 2008. She made the cut at the Ricoh Women's British Open in both 2007 and 2008 and earned the Smyth Salver for low amateur honours in 2008. She was part of the winning Swedish team at the 2008 European Ladies' Team Championship and was a member of the victorious Swedish team at the 2008 World Amateur Team Championships for the Espirito Santo Trophy, finishing individual runner-up to teammate Caroline Hedwall.

This is proof of the belief that the people who erected the Pagoda in ancient times were the Mons. When this cone or stone layer was removed there was found inside another stone layer of similar shape but with a brilliant gold coating and this was more representative of a pagoda in shape while its exquisite workmanship and brilliance inspired feelings of deep religious fervor in the crowd present. Some mud had penetrated even here and the sides of the base were covered with this and when it was washed and sifted precious stones and gold and jewellery were discovered round the base. This second stone casket was then removed and inside was found a small pagoda of pure gold standing on a silver salver or base and beside this golden pagoda was a carved stone image 4½ ins.

The intense study reviewed the Forest Hills, Hyde Park, Franklin park and Roslindale sections of the city that were subject to flooding.

While travelling he meets two of his uncles, the first plays the role of Percival's Gornemant and educates him in arms and warns him not to ask the significance of what he sees. The second replaces Chrétien's Fisher King, but instead of showing Peredur the Holy Grail he reveals a salver containing a man's severed head. The young knight does not ask about this and proceeds to further adventure, including a stay with the Nine Witches of Gloucester and the encounter with the woman who was to be his true love, Angharad Golden-Hand. Peredur returns to Arthur's court, but soon embarks on another series of adventures that do not correspond to material in Percival (Gawain's exploits take up this section of the French work.) Eventually the hero learns the severed head at his uncle's court belonged to his cousin, who had been killed by the Nine Witches of Gloucester.

On the capitulation of Kars he was sent, with the other British officers, as a prisoner of war to Russia, where he remained until the proclamation of peace in 1856. For his services at Kars he received the thanks of parliament, was transferred to the royal army as an unattached lieutenant- colonel, and was made a companion of the Bath, aide-de-camp to Queen Victoria, and colonel in the army from 24 June 1856. He received a medal with clasp for Kars, the second class of the Medjidie, was appointed an officer of the Legion of Honour, and was given the rank of major-general in the Turkish army. On his arrival in England he was presented with a sword of honour and a silver salver by the inhabitants of Ramsgate, where his mother then resided, and where his family was well known.

On 31 July at the Woburn Golf and Country Club in England, Maguire won the Smyth Salver when she finished as the leading amateur at the Ricoh Women's British Open, one of the major championships. As an amateur, she forfeited her 25th place prize money of $25,500, after rounds of 71, 70, 68, 75. In the last 12 months, she has forfeited over $100,000 in prize money as a result of her amateur status, despite playing only a handful of professional tournaments. As a result of the points earned at the British Open, she regained her world number one amateur ranking on 3 August 2016. On 15 August 2016, Maguire was awarded the Mark H. McCormack Medal given annually to the number one ranked female amateur player in the world.

Originally named Cildetona (farm of the heirs or children), the name became modernised to Childerton and later Chillington Farm, before being recorded as High Ridge Farm in 1714 (around the time it was bought by the Town Clerk of Hastings), Salver Hill Farm in 1785 and Silver Hill Farm before 1815. Around this time, Hastings and the high- class neighbouring planned development of St Leonards-on-Sea had begun to develop rapidly as fashionable seaside resorts, helped by better transport connections and royal patronage. New turnpikes were built northwards to Sedlescombe in 1837 and Battle the following year to reduce the road distance from Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea to London; the roads met at Silver Hill Farm, and the area began to develop as a suburb, with a windmill, hotel (the Tivoli) and tearooms. By 1839, a combined pottery and brickworks building and cottages for its workers also existed. Despite this development, by 1853 Silver Hill Farm was still a working farm.

No fixed term of lying-in is recommended in Renaissance manuals on family life (unlike in some other cultures, see Postpartum confinement), but it appears from documentary records that the mother was rarely present at the baptism, in Italian cities usually held within a week of the birth at the local parish church, normally a few minutes' walk from any house. During this period the mother and child were visited in the bedroom by family and female friends, and presented with gifts.V&A; traditionally, a Chinese mother was not allowed to leave the house for a month, or receive visitors for 12 days. Triumph of Fame on the Medici–Tornabuoni desco da parto painted for the birth of Lorenzo de' Medici, 1449 A painted desco da parto (a birth tray or birth salver) was an important symbolic gift on the occasion of a successful birth in late medieval and Early Modern Florence and Siena. The surviving painted deschi represented in museum collections were commissioned by elite families, but inventories show that birth trays and other special birth objects like embroidered pillows were kept long after the successful birth in families of all classes: when Lorenzo de' Medici died, the inventory shows that the desco da parto given by his father to his mother, Lucrezia Tornabuoni, at her lying- in,The Medici–Tornabuoni desco da parte, painted by Giovanni di Ser Giovanni, called "Scheggia", the brother of Masaccio, with a Triumph of Fame, is conserved at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, acc. no. 1995.1995.7.
