Closet Witch themselves are terrifyingly proficient at their deadly craft—there is real, palpable, horrifying rage to be found within the closely-packed notes and razor-sharp chords propelling this beast of a self-titled debut (which is a multi-pronged co-release from Noisey darlings Halo of Flies with SassBologna, Jems, Circus of the Macabre (UK), Don't Care (UK) and React With Protest (Germany).

Included among diverse works by both men are a few fine Picasso canvases and several quick glitters of Calder delight, especially two that hang from the ceiling: a dopey tin-can bird and "Medusa," a wire bust composed almost entirely of facial features and hair that casts, as it rotates, an infinite variety of razor-sharp, paper-flat, slowly mutating shadow drawings on the wall.

After the funding is pulled from their DNA-splicing research for a pharmaceutical company, they decide to continue conducting experiments in secret, which is how they end up creating a bald, chicken-legged, beady-eyed little monster that Elsa inexplicably becomes wildly attached to despite the fact that it's hideous, mauls her hand, and has a venomous, razor-sharp stinger coming out of its tail.

Either I drain them using the can lid (PRO TIP: stop the can opener just short of taking the lid clean off and then you can drain the can and lift the lid up to empty the can afterward, without ever having that lid come all the way off and endanger you with its terrifying, razor-sharp edges), or I just dump everything in, liquid and all.

Its undertow was the whole history of cruelty — the pillory, the scaffold, the red-hot poker and the burnings at the stake, all the vileness invented by humanity to curb and control the practitioners of the unspeakable sin — it was all tumbling on and Oscar was there in every word, razor sharp, slashing the world down to size, glittering in the lights and crashing against the walls of the theater.

And though this occasionally gets lost in the drive to perfume marketing — as it seemed to do at Jean Paul Gaultier, whose initial razor-sharp understated tailleurs quickly gave way to trompe l'oeil '80s denim (actually composed of hundreds of strips of ribbon), corset belts and muscle tees, and then an entire botanic garden's worth of daisy, poppy and sunflower prints — it is the operating principle of the couture.

While the show's razor-sharp scripts and urgent direction were undeniably part of its appeal, much of its success can be attributed to its stellar cast: Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, Sterling K. Brown as Christopher Darden, Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, and David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian — each of whom managed to add depth and humanity to characters who have arguably become caricatures in the years following the case.

If you're not thoroughly horrified by the concept of eating something that looks like an alien lamprey's face, there's Demagorgon Pie, which cheerily starts with a homemade pie crust and a filling of pumpkin and cherries and eventually takes on the demonic form of the Demagorgon himself (or herself?), complete with slivered almonds to signify the many rows of razor-sharp teeth with which the beast would love to slurp you down and spit out your mangled and bloodied carcass for some teenagers to find in the woods.

Silhouettes were salient and razor-sharp, each representing a caricature of New York men we're used to seeing — who, in some of the most problematic weather conditions, wouldn't sacrifice style if their life depended on it — only each ensemble carried with it a spine of Ford-level textures: the most pristine velvet blazers in wild prints, metallic and lamé tops and bottoms that command as much attention as it takes gaul to wear them, sunglasses that render the wearers too fabulous to be approached, and snakeskin boots that rival those of fuck-me pumps or any boot before it.
