Although raunch culture is focused on the sex appeal of women, it is solely image-based: "It's about inauthenticity and the idea that women should be constantly exploding in little bursts of exhibitionism. It's an idea that female sexuality should be about performance and not about pleasure." Levy argues that in a raunch culture, many women engage in performances of sexuality that are not actual expressions of their sexuality but are designed for the pleasure of the male observer(s) – or appear as though they are trying to be pleasurable sex objects.

Walk on Jindal's Splinters is a live album by Jello Biafra and The Raunch and Soul All-Stars, a group of Southern musicians assembled especially for the occasion by Dash Rip Rock's Bill Davis and Cowboy Mouth's Fred LeBlanc. The album title is a play on the Dr. John song "I Walk on Gilded Splinters" meant to insult now-former Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal.

In 2010, the Houston Press deemed DRR one of the "Top 10 Louisiana Bands of All Time." Bill Davis was also featured in the documentary, Outside Industry: The Story of SXSW. In 2010, Dash Rip Rock's song "Johnny Ace" was featured in the video game Rock Band. In 2011, Bill Davis also joined Jello Biafra to form Jello Biafra and the New Orleans Raunch & Soul All-Stars.

Raunch aesthetics is a term in feminist theory which describes the ways in which women in hip hop express their sexuality through the performance of lyrics, choreography, and staging. These aesthetics are performed by artists such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, and Miley Cyrus with the intention to embrace and take control over their own bodies and sexual identities through verbal and physical expression.

Over the years, hundreds of sexualized media depictions have flooded public areas of cities all over the world. At one point in time in the past, the sexualized functions in urban society were contained and kept hidden from public space. These sexualized functions have now moved into plain view of society. The presence of raunch aesthetics has seeped into normal, unsexualized places such as family restaurants.

Allmusic writer Andy Kellman gave it three-and-a-half out of five stars and called it "a simple, concept-free, creatively unambitious R&B; album". Mikael Wood of Spin complimented the album's "fresh raunch", noting "'Bangin' the Headboard' and 'Pregnant' (as in 'You make me wanna get you…') are bawdy even by Kelly's considerable standards".Wood, Mikael (January 2010). The group have issued six albums: Sacred Cowboys (1984), We Love You ... Australian musicologist, Ian McFarlane, described them as "one of the most confrontational live outfits" with their music as "mixed post-punk moodiness and country raunch over a mutant swamp-blues backbeat".

These types of venues support sexual oppression and embrace negative stereotypes of women. Because of the public display of explicit behavior, the practice becomes dirty, inappropriate, and ultimately looked down upon. This is believed to has an effect on women and is the driving force towards their oppression, objectification and inequality. The stigmatization of raunch aesthetics has been linked to this and devalues women's genuine experiences and practices.

Noisey calls the album "catchy garage jams with a pop edge." The title-track is described by The Aquarian Weekly, as "the sound of a thousand hornets[,] tearing through dangerous curves of unabridged and psychedelic dervish raunch." Beyoncé Knowles is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She performs raunch aesthetics through her explicit lyrics and her seductive dancing. In her song "Partition" from her self-titled album Beyoncé, which came out December 2013, she sings: The song suggests the sexual act of fellatio while being driven in a limousine to a club party. Visually, in the music video, Beyoncé performs raunchiness by dancing seductively in diamond-studded leotards and heels.

"I'm Good at Being Bad" is an R&B; song containing a rap verse. The song's original title was "Bitch Like Me" (a phrase also in the lyrics), which was described to "crank up the raunch level". The lyrics refer graphically to "Ten-inch or bigger / A lick-it-from-the-back-type nigga." It was recorded at Flyme Tyme Studios in Edina, Minnesota, with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in 1998.

Proclaiming that chains and whips excite her, is a major slap in the face to white patriarchal standards of being a proper woman. Also shattering the oversexualizing of Caribbean women's bodies over-present in the media, by being the one to sexualize herself. She does this while affirming her role in raunch culture; the hypersexualizing of a culture through music videos, advertising, the clothing industry and celebrity. Esquire Magazine declared Rihanna "the sexiest woman alive" in 2011.

Critics had a positive response to "A Toast to Me". A writer from Maxim said that Ford "proved she's still a hellcat" with the song, and an AskMen commentator wrote that the singer "decided to hit hard again". Gil Kaufman praised the single as a combination of "Christina Aguilera's dance- influenced raunch with Pink's confessional pop". Despite commending "A Toast to Men" as catchy, Chuck Taylor criticized its intention to shock the listener as too overt, and called it a "cheap thrill".

Film Threat stated that Young People Fucking "shoots Judd Apatow-styled raunch into previously uncharted stratospheres of frank sexual humor" but that the cast were too attractive to be believable. Felix Vasquez of Cinema- crazed.com hated the "pseudo mumblecore" whining of beautiful people but appreciated the turnarounds in the second half and its message about love's fragility. Stephen Garrett of Time Out rated it 2 out of 5, saying it is full of "jarring skips" that reduced the film into uninvolved sketches.

Moreover they critiqued an over-investment in "a model of free will and choice" in the marketplace of identities and ideas. Regardless, the "girly" feminists attempted to be open to all different selves while maintaining a dialogue about the meaning of identity and femininity in the contemporary world. Third- wave feminists said that these viewpoints should not be limited by the label "girly" feminism or regarded as simply advocating "raunch culture". Rather, they sought to be inclusive of the many diverse roles women fulfill.

First edition (publ. Simon & Schuster) House of Holes: A Book of Raunch is a 2011 novel by American writer Nicholson Baker. It consists of a series of chapters that are more or less connected (some more, some less) which tell of the sexual and emotional experiences of a variety of characters in a kind of sexual fantasy land, the titular "House of Holes". The third "dirty novel" by Baker after Vox and The Fermata, it is praised by many reviewers for the inventiveness of its language.

Star Kitty's Revenge is the third studio album by American recording artist Joi, released on March 19, 2002, by Universal Records. The album received generally positive reviews from music critics upon its release. In The New Rolling Stone Album Guide (2004), Rolling Stone journalist Jon Caramanica writes that the album "reeked of the unique stank of Atlanta's Dungeon Family collective" and that "for all Kittys raunch, Joi still takes the opportunity to flex her impressive, Betty Davis-style vocals on more traditional material.".Caramanica et al.

Third-wave feminism was often associated, primarily by its critics, with the emergence of so-called "lipstick" or "girly" feminists and the rise of "raunch culture". Ariel Levy contends that Western women who exploit their sexuality by, for example, wearing revealing clothing and engaging in lewd behavior, engage in female self-objectification, meaning they objectify themselves. While some women see such behaviour as a form of empowerment, Levy contends that it has led to greater emphasis on a physical criterion or sexualization for women's perceived self-worth, which Levy calls "raunch culture".

A revised young adult version called Your Skirt's Too Short: Sex, Power, Choice was released in 2010. Fishing for Tigers, published in September 2012 by Picador Australia, is Maguire's fourth. Set in present-day Vietnam, it explores issues of exploitation in developing nations – cultural, racial, sexual and economic – placing Australian expats and tourists at the centre of the frame.

Steve Huey from AllMusic selected the song as one of the best tracks on Labelle's 1995 compilation Lady Marmalade: The Best of Patti and Labelle. Also during this time, the CT was known for The Picks, a weekly feature during the football season, usually on the back page. It included mugshots of staff members, along with their picks for upcoming NFL games and their records so far in the season. Below that was a narrative, normally written by the sports editor, that commented on the staff members' progress in The Picks and used double entendres and plain-old raunch to describe them and their personalities. The Picks drew the fire of university administration for years, and was eventually eliminated in the early 2000s.

Pornographication or pornification is the absorption by mainstream culture (i.e., music, television, movies) of styles or content of the sex industry and the sexualisation of Western culture, sometimes referred to as raunch culture. Pornographication, particularly the use of sexualised images of women, is said to demonstrate "how patriarchal power operates in the field of gender representation". In Women in Popular Culture, Marion Meyers argues that the portrayal of women in modern society is primarily influenced by "the mainstreaming of pornography and its resultant hypersexualization of women and girls, and the commodification of those images for a global market".

In late 1984 he and three NYU classmates formed the New York post-punk band Killdozer, who released one self-produced LP entitled There's No Mistaking Quality before changing their band name to Sharky's Machine in order to avoid confusion with Madison, Wisconsin's postpunk band Killdozer. Edison joined the Raunch Hands in early 1990 and accompanied them that year on a tour of Japan, later relocating with them to Madrid, Spain. In 1992, while living in Madrid, Edison joined Spanish hardcore punk band The Pleasure Fuckers, and played with them through 1995. In 2001 he formed the Edison Rocket Train, switching to vocals and guitar.

Rakolta was prompted to write to the sponsors of Married… with Children after her children watched the episode "Her Cups Runneth Over" on January 15, 1989, in which Al Bundy and his friend Steve purchase a bra for Al's wife, Peggy. That same episode had also showed Al ogling at a naked model in a department store, but with her back facing the camera. Several sponsors decided to cancel their commercials in response. Fox responded to the boycott by moving the show's time slot from 8:30 to 9:00 pm and toning down the level of "raunch" in the series, reducing the amount of sexual content and implied nudity.

Levy followed the camera crew from the Girls Gone Wild video series, and argues that contemporary America's sexualized culture not only objectifies women, it encourages women to objectify themselves. In today's culture, Levy writes, the idea of a woman participating in a wet T-shirt contest or being comfortable watching explicit pornography has become a symbol of feminist strength. Jordan Peterson has asked why women need to wear make-up or high-heels in the workplace, that a double standard exists for sexual harassment and females who self-objectify themselves in society.

Like the band's other releases, this was not a commercial success, but both sides are now seen as "a testament to his credentials as a pioneer of prog.... combining neo-classical flourishes with jazz licks and R&B; raunch...". Shinn was particularly influential on Keith Emerson, who adopted some of Shinn's onstage performance techniques such as jamming a screwdriver into the keyboard. Shinn also recorded with another Southampton band, The MeddyEvils. The Soul Agents disbanded, and Shinn formed a new group, simply called Shinn, in early 1967, with Eddie Lamb (vocals), Paul Newton (bass - later of Uriah Heep), and Brian Davison (drums - later of The Nice).

No Picnic is a film written and directed by Philip Hartman. It was filmed in black and white at New York in 1985 and was released the next year, in the Sundance Film Festival, where it won Excellence in Cinematography Award: Dramatic. Described as "a cinematic love letter to a pre-gentrified New York", the film captures the East Village of the 1980s. Providing the soundtrack are such performers as "The Raunch Hands", Lenny Kaye, Charles Mingus, Fela Kuti, Richard Hell and "Student Teachers".Hartman’s “No Picnic” Set for Spotlight at 3rd Howl Film Fest It stars Richard Hell, Judith Malina, Luis Guzmán and Steve Buscemi.

With Gillard in place as a visual foil and constantly riffing guitar PRESENCE, Petkovic was freed to spurt around the stage like a big pock of metallic jiz in a low-gravity environment. His mouth jammed full of red licorice, his cheap suit soiled by un-named liquids, Petkovic power- oozed like a Vegas lounge singer on Benzedrine, while the band flared around him. Dave James was a nonpresence visually, but his bass had enough bite to get the boys dancing. Doug Gillard tottered on sky-high platform heels, spuzzing out thick chords of raunch and craning his head around as though someone had told him that the Sensational Alex Harvey had just walked into the room.

Zara Golden of The Fader said the track was "a wash of the wit and unabashed raunch we've come to expect from Ty—but it certainly is more radio-friendly". In a mixed review, Vulture's Dee Lockett felt that the track's collaborators had the potential to produce a song "considerably better" and found the track to have "probably the worst sexual innuendo for pussy poppin' you've ever heard". However, Locket said that the song was "so bad" that it is "almost...good" and commented, "It's like the semi-G-rated-strip-club anthem you never asked for, and we can't stop dancing". In a negative review, James Rettig of Stereogum dismissed "Drop That Kitty" as "pretty lame" and "a poor showing".

"WAP" received widespread critical acclaim. For Pitchfork, Lakin Starling called it "a nasty-ass rap bop, bursting with the personality of two of rap's most congenial household names", adding, "the detailed play-by-play in the verses doesn't aim to impress guys—and that, the song suggests, is why Cardi and Meg's expertise is credible," as they "center themselves as women in order to freely celebrate their coveted power, sex appeal, and A1 WAP." Jon Caramanica of The New York Times deemed it "an event record that transcends the event itself", and stated that both rappers "are exuberant, sharp and extremely, extremely vividly detailed" in the song that "luxuriates in raunch". Rania Aniftos of Billboard described the song as a "twerk-ready, scorching banger".

Drummer Wayne Evans left the band and was replaced by journeyman drummer Tommy Aldridge on BOA's next release If an Angel Came to See You, Would You Make Her Feel at Home?, which featured another enduring BOA concert favorite, "Mutants of the Monster" and expanded on the group's eclectic musical style. In 1973, Black Oak Arkansas released their fourth LP, Raunch 'n' Roll Live, and took the rather unorthodox tack of including previously unreleased new songs on their first live concert album like "Gigolo", "Gettin' Kinda Cocky", as well as two more BOA classics: "Hot Rod", which features Dandy's sly double-entendre lyrics, and "Up", which spotlights Aldridge's marathon drum solo, a portion of which he played with his bare hands.

Lerman wrote poetry while in high school, with the encouragement of a sympathetic teacher: > As a writer, I have been rescued more than once in my life. All the material is slow and mostly pared down, made to maximize space for his still generous supply of hooks and outlandish rhymes." Nick Catucci of Entertainment Weekly gave the album a B, saying "Black Panties won't humanize the man for anyone who prefers caricature. But his 12th album, a return to wafting sex jams after two soulful dance discs, also falls short of the Kelly we love: the tireless entertainer- as-lover and suavely esoteric devotee of churchy theatrics, inspirational- poster slogans, Chicago stepping music, and extreme wordplay." Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune gave the album two out of four stars, saying "After two albums of elegant, old-school stepping music, R. Kelly is back doing the raunch.

There is some controversy over whether women are actively choosing to express their sexuality through the use of raunch or whether society is influencing women to internalize patriarchal ideas about how a woman should want to act, dress, and behave for attention. While most feminists would agree on the importance of female sexual empowerment, some do not agree on the paths taken toward sexual liberation. This is mainly because it's hard to decipher between real sexual empowerment and a false sense of it because the terms have been so com-modified in the United States to get women to consume various goods. There is an important distinction made between a woman's subjective sense of sexual empowerment and society's influence over a woman's expression of sexuality.

One of the set's more cathartic moments is delivered in the High Tensions' thrashing protopunk "Poor Man", which is punctuated by the screaming vocals of Tommy Dae and his cohorts. The CD features another eleven tracks taken from a prior Satan Records compilation, What a Way to Die, beginning with the gleefully drunken screech of Detroit's Pleasure Seekers, whose ranks included a very young Suzi Quatro and her sisters in "What a Way to Die" and they also close the set with "Never Thought You'd Ever Leave Me", a moodier number embellished with elegant piano glissandos. Another highlight is the UK freakbeat raunch heard in the Renegades' 1966 rendition of Bill Haley's "Thirteen Women". Richard and the Young Lions' provide enough fuzz-caked grime to appeal to even the more ardent garage rock addicts.

Stand Up received mixed reviews upon its release, but more recent evaluations praised the album as a whole, for the production and musicianship. The 1969 Rolling Stone review was quite positive, stating that the album "has a fairly low raunch quotient, true to form, but it is quite marvellous" and also that "the album is not really funky; rather, it is a meticulously crafted work (no sterility implied) which deserves careful listening. At a time when many of the established stars are faltering, it is a particular pleasure to hear an important new voice." The contemporary Disc and Music Echo review was less favourable; it considered the expensive cover the "most impressive" part of the album and Jethro Tull a good live band but still incapable of producing a "musically interesting" release.

Edison was the long-time drummer for New York cult-garage band the Raunch Hands (Crypt Records) as well as being a collaborator of punk rocker GG Allin, with whom he wrote a number of songs and recorded two albums. He currently leads his own long-running band, the Edison Rocket Train, and is currently collaborating with popular Spanish blues punk group Guadalupe Plata. The release of their first LP, The Devil Can’t Do You No Harm, recorded in Seville, Spain, was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is expected to be released in early 2021 on Madrid-based label Everlasting Records. In 1984 Edison joined the Rock Against Reagan Tour, opening shows in San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Dallas for New York hardcore band Reagan Youth.

" Vulture described it as an "emotional sequel" to "LBGT", a song on Harris's debut album, Audacious, and went on to write "CupcakKe can turn raunch into a kind of high lyrical art, but beyond the pearl-clutching moments, the message of "Crayons" is just really nice. After stringing up her pride flag and announcing, "It's all about the taste of rainbows and colors. The gays gonna serve you life like a butler," she serves up matter-of-fact calls for equality that renounce double standards of judgment applied to gay men versus gay women, and calls for everyone to come together under the banner of love." Viri Garcia of The Cornell Daily Sun wrote that "'Crayons' not only demonstrates CupcakKe's growth as a writer and artist, but as a person.

Reviews have become more positive over time. AllMusic critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine remarked how Aerosmith "finally perfected their mix of Stonesy raunch and Zeppelin-esque riffing", thanks to "a combination of an increased sense of songwriting skills and purpose", creating on the album a new style which "fully embraced sleaziness" in Tyler's lyrics, backed by "an appropriately greasy" music. In his review for Blender, Ben Mitchell found "Aerosmith firing on all coke-clogged cylinders" on Toys in the Attic, he lauded all the songs in the album and called the arrangement of "You See Me Crying" "a typical ’70s rock extravagance." When Toys in the Attic was released in April 1975, it eventually peaked at No. 11 on the US Billboard 200 chart, 63 positions higher than Get Your Wings.

Scott Lewis and Gary Winter on the set of the Scott and Gary Show The Scott and Gary Show was a Public-access television cable TV variety show that ran from 1983 to 1989 and featured punk and indie bands, live audience dance parties, and comedy skits. Created and hosted by Scott Lewis and Gary Winter, the show was filmed in New York City from 1983 to 1986 and, at the invitation of cable access producer Jeff Krulik, in the Washington DC metro area, from 1986 to 1989. The show is notable for early appearances of bands such as the Butthole Surfers and the Beastie Boys (who appear with drummer Kate Schellenbach, later of Luscious Jackson). Other musical guests include the Ben Vaughn Combo, Raunch Hands, Half Japanese, Shockabilly, R. Stevie Moore, and Velvet Monkeys.

"Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)" received mixed reviews from music critics. Harry Guerin from Raidió Teilifís Éireann wrote that Carey "works better on raunch not regrets and her duets" like on the song, which perfectly captured the film's 1980's vibe, also complimenting its "clinical" production which "you wonder whether the engineers work masks and gowns at the mixing desk", proving that Carey should "spend more time around DJs and decks and less with grand pianos". A writer from BET network included the track on their list of "Mariah Carey Singles That Deserved to Be No. 1 (But Didn't Get There)", stating that "not even Mystikal could help a track that was cursed by simply being part of the Glitter soundtrack". Its "catchiness" was also praised, while also commenting that it should have receive more attention.

As of September 2020, the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a score of 50%, with an average rating of 5.07/10, based on 34 reviews. The website's critical consensus read: "More juvenile than provocative, Orgazmo may have enough good-natured raunch to satisfy writer-director Trey Parker's fans, but its satire is too soft to compete with the South Park co-creator's best work." As of September 2020, the film had a score of 48 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 17 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews". Roger Ebert gave the film half a star out of four, arguing that Orgazmo had little of the clever wit Parker and Stone brought to South Park, and furthermore describing the film as "callow, gauche, obvious and awkward, and designed to appeal to those with similar qualities".

But if he wants to be taken as a serious artist like the ones he spends most of the record emulating, he's going to have to start taking some real chances and get real far out of the box, out to place where people are known to wear kilts." Brent Faulkner of PopMatters gave the album an eight out of ten, saying "All in all, Wale truly is ‘gifted’. Three albums in, Wale continues to impress with this prodigious rhymes and the ability assemble an album that is both consistent, intellectually stimulating, and enjoyable. Hey, he even makes a booty anthem like “Clapper” sound more refined than it really should be, regardless whether his partners in crime raunch it up. With no big time faux pas to be found, The Gifted is an extraordinary ‘gift’ to any hip-hop collection.

The album's release was preceded by a seven-inch single (Alternative Tentacles's first single release with a ) featuring renditions of Buster Brown's "Fannie Mae" and Rosco Gordon's "Just a Little Bit", released on April 14, 2015. The 45 was originally planned to be issued on Record Store Day, but was rejected because Record Store Day's organizers were deemphasizing seven-inch singles in that year's promotion; Alternative Tentacles semi-facetiously claimed on their website that Record Store Day had found the 45 "too hot to handle",Jello Biafra and The Raunch & Soul All-Stars "Fannie Mae"/"Just a Little Bit", alternativetentacles.com, retrieved May 10, 2015 and issued the single, already planned to be packaged in a generic brown 45 sleeve in homage to independent R&B; and rock 45s of the late 50s and early 60s, with a large sticker reading "REJECTED BY RECORD STORE DAY".

The four new songs were originally recorded and intended to be included on the follow-up studio album to If an Angel Came to See You ..., but when Atco Records realized the band's true strong suit was their concert act, the live album resulted. Raunch 'n' Roll Live was re-issued in 2007 by Rhino Records as a 2-CD set containing both concerts that the original vinyl album was culled from. The band's fifth album, High on the Hog, also released in 1973, ended up being the high point of BOA's career, peaking at number 52 on the Billboard albums chart. Ruby Starr (future vocalist of Grey Ghost) also toured intermittently with Black Oak during this period, and her raspy voice can be heard on the group's remake of LaVern Baker's 1957 hit "Jim Dandy (To The Rescue)", which reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Feminists have long critiqued art for its focus on the male gaze and how it penetrates its multiple dimensions including who makes the art, who it is made for, and who and/or what it represents. There is a link between art and sexual politics including issues surrounding power and the influence the male gaze has on how women are viewed in life and art. The use of art reflects cultural standards within a society, and some feminists claim that art, especially film, was intended for the male consumption of pornified and sexualized women due to patriarchal beliefs mirrored in larger society. The way in which a female hip hop artist uses her words and her body to exude her own sexual empowerment expressed through raunch may be critiqued by feminists who think this aesthetic can be harmful through the mimicry of sexual objectification of women's bodies in their music videos.

" Vocal surf can be interpreted as a regional variant of doo wop music, with tight harmonies on a song's chorus contrasted with scat singing. According to musicologist Timothy Cooley, "Like instrumental surf rock with its fondness for the twelve-bar blues form, the vocal version of Surf Music drew many key elements from African-American genres ... what made the Beach Boys unique was its ability to capture the nation's and indeed the world's imagination about the emerging New Surfing lifestyle now centered in Southern California, as well as the subtle songwriting style and production techniques that identify the Beach Boys' sound." In 1963, Murry Wilson, Brian's father, who also acted as the Beach Boys' manager, offered his definition of surf music: "The basis of surfing music is a rock and roll bass beat figuration, coupled with raunch-type weird-sounding lead guitar, an electric guitar, plus wailing saxes. Surfing music has to sound untrained with a certain rough flavor in order to appeal to teenagers.

According to AllMusic's Andy Kellman, Wildhearts music is defined less by melody than by the presence of "grinding guitars and mechanical beats", played in the style of contemporary R&B; and new wave rock. Sheldon Pearce from Consequence of Sound said the album's neo soul music ranges from "psychedelic to interstellar" sounds while defying the "traditional sensibilities in modern R&B;". According to journalist Robert Christgau, Wildheart shares more with rock music's recurring theme of struggles with normalcy and human contradiction than it does with R&B;'s "sin-versus-salvation struggles". Jon Pareles from The New York Times believed the alluring but amoral environment of California is a recurring setting throughout the record, which explores Miguel's "clashing impulses further" than Kaleidoscope Dream (2012), "toward love and death, raunch and exaltation, doubt and confidence, salvation and damnation, cynicism and hope"; "Gonna Die Young" was written about the dangers of leading a risky lifestyle, while "...Goingtohell" explores themes of human mortality and romance.

Levy criticized the pornographic video series Girls Gone Wild after she followed its camera crew for three days, interviewed both the makers of the series and the women who appeared on the videos, and commented on the series' concept and the debauchery she was witnessing. Many of the young women Levy spoke with believed that bawdy and liberated were synonymous. Levy's experiences amid Girls Gone Wild appear again in Female Chauvinist Pigs, in which she attempts to explain "why young women today are embracing raunchy aspects of our culture that would likely have caused their feminist foremothers to vomit." In today's culture, Levy writes, the idea of a woman participating in a wet T-shirt contest or being comfortable watching explicit pornography has become a symbol of strength; she says that she was surprised at how many people, both men and women, working for programs such as Girls Gone Wild told her that this new "raunch" culture marked not the downfall of feminism but its triumph, but Levy was unconvinced.

The live performance captured on this recording resulted from Davis and LeBlanc inviting Biafra to perform a variety of New Orleans soul classics with a loose congregation of musicians during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.Jello Biafra and the Raunch And Soul All-Stars, Walk on Jindal's Splinters alternativetentacles.com, retrieved May 10, 2015 Biafra encouraged Davis and LeBlanc to include some New Orleans-related garage rock songs in the set as well as an Alex Chilton cover to honor the then-recently deceased singer. The all-star backing band includes Pepper Keenan (Corrosion of Conformity, Down) on guitar, Pete "Wet Dog" Gordon (formerly of Mojo Nixon's backing band The Toadliquors, who had previously played with Biafra on his 1994 collaboration with Nixon, Prairie Home Invasion), Brian "Bruiser" Broussard formerly of Dash Rip Rock and Supagroup, currently in Cowboy Mouth on bass and he also "tour managed" the show. The horn section was organized by Morning 40 Federation baritone saxophonist Josh Cohen that included members of both Morning 40 Federation and Egg Yolk Jubilee.
