It is located 12 miles west of Sanghar, and 28 miles east of Nawabshah on Nawabshah-Sanghar road . The primary industry of the village is agriculture. Construction was the primary industry worked in by most of the working population at 21,702 employees, followed by public administration and defense (2,336) and agriculture and fishing (1,294). The MEEZA Data Center is an IT center south of Umm Qarn. Inaugurated in 2014, it spans an area of 10,000 square meters, making it MEEZA's largest data center.

All external communications were cut to the country during the cyclone. In addition, nearly half of the sugar plantations were destroyed, although the primary industry of tourism was not significantly affected. In total, the cyclone killed two people, and left $135 million in damage (1994 USD); the total included lost productivity, such as decreased sugar output. Less than a week after Hollanda struck, Cyclone Ivy also hit Mauritius, although to a lesser extent than Hollanda.

In February 1956, Moroney was appointed Secretary of the Department of Primary Industry. He stayed in the position until 1962, when he was appointed to a three year term as chairman of the Wheat Board. At the Wheat Board, under Moroney's leadership, the board successfully disposed of three record harvests and Moroney was personally responsible for some of the large wheat sale contracts. Moroney died of cancer in Canberra on 30 August 1965, aged 66.

During the excavations, archeologists found church ruins from the age of the Árpáds. The development of the town is founded on the talent and diligence of its Hungarian, Slovak and Romanian inhabitants. At the time, agriculture was the primary industry and the settlement’s output was predominantly wheat, maize and pig and cattle breeding. With the arrival of the Nagyvárad-Fiume railway line in 1871, Csorvás became the main transport centre for agricultural produce.

Puʻunene sugar mill, built in 1901Puʻunene () is an unincorporated community in the central part of Maui, Hawaii, near Kahului with a population of around 50. Although the land is fairly level, the Hawaiian language name means " goose hill". Puʻunene's primary industry was growing, harvesting and processing sugarcane for over a century but production ceased in 2016. In 2019, a field of potatoes was planted by Mahi Pono where sugar cane used to be grown.

Coal mining has been a primary industry of West Virginia since coal was first discovered in Boone County in 1742, by John Peter Salley. The Hobet 21 mine itself was not opened until 1974. The mine was a small, family business under its original owners, Fil Nutter and Granville Lee Linville. It was subsequently sold off four times, to Ashland Oil (1977), Arch Coal (1997), Magnum Coal (2005), and Patriot Coal (2008).

Fueled engines are not allowed on the lake, although electric engines are permitted. Boats can be launched from a dock at the north end of the lake which boasts a small campground for tents, trailers and fifth-wheels with some lots having electrical hookups. A nine-hole golf course is also located here. The primary industry for the population is mining, with the Highland Valley Copper mine one of the largest employers for the town.

Similar to many village in the area, agriculture was the primary industry of Skelmanthorpe until the 19th century when weaving took over as the dominant occupation. Many of the older buildings in the village show signs of having been used as weavers cottages in the past. As late as 1890, there were 200 hand looms in cottages in Skelmanthorpe. Number 6, Queen Street was preserved by Textile Heritage Centre, complete with hand loom and all the associated equipment.

Marysville's primary industry is tourism. Prior to the fire, it contained numerous cafes, art galleries, restaurants, and craft shops. It has been used as a base for the Lake Mountain ski resort. During the snow season, the population of the town has been known to double or even triple, due to the influx of other hospitality and tourism caterers, such as ski hire, toboggan hire, chain hire, and many other profitable ventures associated with snowplay and skiing.

The resulting land is flat, peat-heavy, and partly swampy which has been converted into excellent land for dairy farming. Economically, the dairy farming is the leading primary industry, supported by other grassland farming. More recently, tourism in the Hauraki Plains region has been growing and the Hauraki Rail Trail, part of the New Zealand Cycle Trail, has been constructed in the Hauraki Plains. The largest town fully within the Plains is Ngatea, with a smaller settlement of Turua.

Commercial, residential, community and industrial components are arranged in graduating concentric circles with the regional business hub Commercial Business District (CBD) Centre forming the core of the city. The commercial component is ringed by residential, community and industrial components respectively in graduating circular belts. The primary industries are situated southwards with an internal utility corridor connecting the proposed road to Jazan city. The secondary industries are between the primary industry and high-tech industry near the workers' housing.

Many dams were built throughout the county to assist loggers as they sent their timber downstream to the lumber and paper mills in the Wisconsin River valley. In 2001, lighting fittings produced in Guzhen made up 60% of the Chinese market with exports reaching $1 billion. The production of lighting fittings is the primary industry in Guzhen, accounting for nearly 88% of the town's industrial output.

Silver was discovered in the hills surrounding Lusk, which brought a steady stream of miners to the area. By the 1950s, growth in the area stabilized when cattle ranching usurped mining as the primary industry of the town. In 1952, the Lusk Baptist Church sent letters to Representative William Henry Harrison III and Senators Joseph C. O'Mahoney and Lester C. Hunt protesting the creation of diplomatic relations with Vatican City through the appointment of Mark W. Clark.

In Patterson stood for New Zealand First in the electorate and was placed 7 on the New Zealand First's party list. He duly entered parliament via the party list. As a member of Parliament, Patterson serves as a member on both the Education and Workforce, and, Primary Production Select Committees. Patterson is the New Zealand First Party spokesperson for Agriculture and Primary Industry, Bio-Security, Christchurch Earthquake Recovery, Crown Minerals, Customs, Food Safety, Intellectual Property, and Land Information.

In 1978, he was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (Civil) in recognition of his service to primary industry and was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2001 for his service to the New South Wales Parliament and to international trade. In the Queen's Birthday Honours 2009 Armstrong was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for service to the Parliament of New South Wales, to the agricultural and livestock sectors, and to the community.

After the 18th-century founding and development of New Orleans, French settlers began to enter the region. The primary industry was the production of pitch, tar, turpentine and resin from the forests. After France was defeated in the French and Indian War, St. Tammany (along with the other future "Florida Parishes") became part of British West Florida. During this period, the area comprising today's St. Tammany attracted British loyalists who wanted to escape persecution in the Thirteen Colonies.

After the Mexican Revolution, the city continued to develop economically; during the first years of the 20th century, the primary industry of the city was farming, although other industries later formed or were established in the area. On September 15, 2007, Torreón celebrated its first 100 years as a chartered city. In Queensland the design of these town halls spanned the spectrum from strict axial classicism (Childers) to Goondiwindi Civic Centre's highly personal and rich Art Deco-inspired style. Typical was the vertically or striated masonry facade, found for example in the Johnstone Shire Hall at Innisfail (1938) and in the Rockhampton Town Hall (1941); both of which were substantial buildings serving prosperous centres of primary industry.

Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA), formerly the Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia, is an agency focussed on driving economic growth in the state. Its aim is to "grow primary industries and drive regional development". Queenstown's primary industry became tourism, including wine tasting and golf, and adventure sports such as skiing, jet boating, rafting, and bungee jumping. A shift from sheep to dairy farming began in Otago, which was more intensive of water and power resources. The old railway was converted into a bike trail for tourists from (2000). The National Party supported a controversial aluminium smelter at Aramoana, whose requirement for electric power was one justification for the Clyde Dam.

Once a major industry on the island, oystering has returned in recent years as a supplement to the more prominent crabbing business. In 2014, a new oyster-farming company, called Tangier Island Oyster Company, was founded by a group that includes a former attorney general of Virginia, Ken Cuccinelli. The island also has a long history of graduates joining the military and being called to become pastors. The primary industry on the island besides fishing is tourism.

Margarita Island (, ) is the largest island in the Venezuelan state of Nueva Esparta, situated off the northeastern coast of the country, in the Caribbean Sea. The capital city of Nueva Esparta, La Asunción, is located on the island. Since the beginning of the crisis in Venezuela, the primary industry of tourism has declined 90% between 2010 and 2020. The island is currently affected by organized crime and is recognized as an international hub for the illegal drug trade.

The Australian dollar – a legacy of Holt's period as Treasurer – came into circulation on 14 February 1966, less than a month after his prime ministership began. According to preliminary accounting of the statistical authority, the gross domestic product of Wangcheng District in 2017 was 65,876 million yuan (9,757 million US dollars), up by 11.2 percent over the previous year. Of this total, the value added of the primary industry was 4,553 million yuan (674 million US dollars), up by 5.5 percent, that of the secondary industry was 46,742 million yuan (6,923 million US dollars), up by 11.4 percent and that of the tertiary industry was 14,581 million yuan (2,160 million US dollars), up by 12.4 percent. In 1553 a ship carrying slaves from Panama to Peru was stranded on Esmeralda, and the 25 slaves on board managed to escape from their captors. In the following years more escaped slaves, along with the descendants of the former slaves, developed some of the lands along the coast. Although there were also other people groups present in Atacames in the 16th century, today Afro-Ecuadoreans make up a large portion of the population in Atacames. Tourism is Atacames's primary industry.

Today in Guyana sugar production generates the most revenue in the primary industry, at around 15% of the total annual GNP. Other important crops include wheat, bananas, coconuts, coffee, cocoa, citrus fruits, pepper and pumpkin and livestock commodities from the country's various cattle ranches including beef, pork, poultry, dairy products and fish, notably shrimp. In some areas peanuts are also an important crop. Many of these products including rice are of extreme importance to national food security within the country.

More Clayton Cups were won by Group 17 clubs, with Rankins Springs (1993), Barellan (1999 and 2002) and Hillston (2006) all claiming the trophy. But by the 2000s, the Millennial Drought had caused many of the teams to be weakened, due to farming, the primary industry in the region, becoming not only unprofitable, but almost impossible. Three Lakes began growing as a tourist and summer vacation destination in the late 1930s. The increasing availability of automobiles, combined with the roads that existed from the logging industry, made the lakes and forests of the Three Lakes area an attractive vacation destination. Tourism was the primary industry in Three Lakes beginning in the 1970s and continues to be today. The town also has light manufacturing, a winery, an arts center and numerous retail businesses that have diversified its economy.

The 4-H club provides community service to the Greencreek area as well, most notably painting the Greencreek "G" on the west side of town, and an annual roadside litter clean-up. Greencreek's primary industry is agriculture; however other small businesses do exist in the area. There is an auto repair shop, known as B and A Performance Auto, and a butcher shop known as Sonnen Meats. Other ancillary businesses exist in Greencreek, such as custom cabinet shops and general contracting businesses.

According to data from the 1831 census the primary industry in Little Ouseburn was focused on agriculture with almost 75% of men aged over 20 being involved in it. Thomas and Charity Rotch migrated to Ohio from Hartford, Connecticut in 1811, bringing with them over 400 head of merino sheep. It was Thomas' intent to create a manufacturing town with a woolen factory as a primary industry. They settled in the western part of Stark County near the Tuscarawas River and along a stream known as Sippo Creek. The Rotches were both from respected Massachusetts Quaker lineage and several New England families who followed them to their new settlement.

In the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century Bassingbourn's primary industry was coprolite mining, followed by Playle's abattoirs.

As of 2015, the majority land use within the locality was industry which was associated with the former power stations. Other uses include primary industry (a large solar-powered greenhouse owned by Sundrop Farms), residential and conservation which concerns the strip of land immediately adjoining the coastline except for that used for the former power stations. Provo was first occupied in 1849 when the first fort was built. People began moving outside the fort in 1850-51, and when two canals were dug to irrigate the fields in the 1850s, agriculture was the primary industry. Utah settlement patterns were based on the plat of the City of Zion that was outlined by the Mormon prophet Joseph Smith. The plan, though not fully implemented, served as a model for Mormon settlements across the west under the direction of Brigham Young.

The island's primary industry is tourism, although fishing is also substantial. There is virtually no natural water supply on the island and rainfall is collected in large cisterns. Drinking water is brought in from Rhodes but there can be shortages during the summer months with the increased population.

Manama is a financial hub for the Persian Gulf region and a center of Islamic banking. The city had several Old West gunfights related to clan feuding following the Civil War. Cuero's population grew considerably in the 1870s and 1880s, as residents from the coastal town of Indianola, Texas, settled here after major hurricanes in this period destroyed sizeable portions of that city. Cuero thrived through much of the late 19th and early 20th centuries by the introduction and practice of turkey ranching in the area. Today, agriculture is still the primary industry in the region.

Service and other industries take up about 50 percent of the industrial structure of Jeollabuk-do, while the remainder is taken up by the order of mining, manufacture, agriculture, forestry, fishery, construction, electric and gas industries. For the industrial structure of Muju-gun, primary industry accounts for 52%, secondary industries 2%, and tertiary industries 46%. The Big Pineapple Nambour's primary industry has been sugar, with extensive cane fields surrounding the town, and the Moreton Central Sugar Mill in the town centre. The mill itself began operating in 1897 until it was closed in 2003. The future of the sugar industry in the area is in doubt, with a number of former cane farms being converted to grazing cattle, turf farms or sold to property developers. Other industries in the area include tourism, and the growing of tropical fruits.

According to a 2000 census, 23.9% of the local population is employed in primary industries while 19.7% and 56.4% of the population are employed in secondary and tertiary industries, respectively. Of these economic activities, fishing amounts to 82.6% of the primary industry, with much of it dedicated to catching squid on the eastern coast of the island. The number of employees in the primary industries has been decreasing, while employee growth in the secondary and tertiary industries has been increasing.

However, the Ottawa River today reaches a depth of in Moose Bay which is located on the Holden Lake reservoir from the Des Joachim dam, west of Deux-Rivières. The primary industry centres on research at the Chalk River location of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), a facility of the Chalk River Laboratories about 10 km east of Deep River on Highway 17. The facility is named for, and primarily accessed via, the nearby town Chalk River, although the site is technically in Deep River.

The second is more likely and is due to the changing economy from 1881 to 2011. Between the years, the United Kingdom has gone from a primary industry based economy where industry revolves around farming and fishing, into a tertiary based industry based on services. People moved away from primary agriculture occupations (the largest employer in 1881) into tertiary based jobs (the largest employer in 2011). Nearly all of the housing in Rendham in 2011 was detached (76 houses) or semi detached (24 houses).

The fort was used as a prison for three Confederate States of America sympathizers. John Jacob Astor's American Fur Company was centered on Mackinac Island after the War of 1812 and exported beaver pelts for thirty years. By the middle of the nineteenth century, commercial fishing for common whitefish and lake trout began to replace the fur trade as the island's primary industry. As sport fishing became more popular in the 1880s, hotels and restaurants accommodated tourists coming by train or lake boat from Detroit.

When the community of Ocean Falls suffered a massive population decline in 1980/81, due to the closure of the town's primary industry (a paper mill), Bella Coola became the administrative centre for British Columbia's central coast. This led to the relocation of the Central Coast Regional District (which, up until that time had been called the "Ocean Falls Regional District") offices to Bella Coola, and a general centralization of government services such as provincial government regional centres (e.g. Ministry of Forests) in Bella Coola.

Myrtle rust was first recorded in Australia in mid-2010 and currently poses a major threat to the continent's ecosystem given that almost 80 per cent of Australian native trees are Mytraceae, most indigenous species rely on healthy trees for their survival. Additionally it poses a major threat to Australia's primary industry sector. Its current range includes much of the eastern coastal fringe of the Australian mainland. Initial detection was in April 2010 in Gosford in the Central Coast region of New South Wales.

The land is mostly flat, drained by two major watershed systems; the Noteć (German: Netze) in the north and the Warta (Warthe) in the center. Ice Age glaciers left moraine deposits and the land is speckled with hundreds of "finger lakes", streams flowing in and out on their way to one of the two rivers. Agriculture was the primary industry. The three-field system was used to grow a variety of crops, primarily rye, sugar beet, potatoes, other grains, and some tobacco and hops.

The research conducted at the station assists local farmers to align land-management to climate and environment, and to address pests and diseases.

Danchi housing complex, Abiko The Shimōsa Plateau remains an important economic center of Japan. Compared to the post-war period, the distribution of economic activity on the plateau has changed. Primary industry accounts for only 5% of economic activity, secondary accounted for 27%, and tertiary 68%. Tertiary industry on the plateau consists of both the service industry serving the densely populated areas of northern Chiba Prefecture, as well as the extensive logistics network connecting the Keiyō Industrial Zone and Narita International Airport with other areas of Japan.

The Shire of Mirani was a local government area located in the North Queensland region of Queensland, Australia. The shire, administered from the town of Mirani, covered an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1916 until 2008, when it amalgamated with the City of Mackay and the Shire of Sarina to form the Mackay Region. The shire was situated in the Pioneer Valley, and atop the Eungella Range, to the west of Mackay. The area's primary industry is sugar production.

Nipper's Harbour is a town located on the east coast of the Baie Verte Peninsula of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. This incorporated community of 85 people is located on a rocky inlet that combines Nipper's Harbour and Noble's Cove, and where the primary industry is the inshore fishery. In 2013, the town voted 98% in favour of resettlement, however the provincial government refused to offer financial compensation to the residents arguing it would be more cost efficient for them to not resettle.

He became a specialist horticulturalist with the department in 1959, and worked on developing rootstocks and strategies to optimise horticultural production in Western Australia. In 2010, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia for significant influence on the apple industry of Australia. In 2015, he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to primary industry through internationally renowned, innovative contributions to the agriculture and food sectors, and to the community.

Total installed generation capacity was increased to 75 million kilowatts, and annual electricity supply grew by 9%. Output value of the primary industry increased at an annual growth rate of 4.1%, the secondary industry at a rate of 17.3%, and the tertiary industry at a rate of 9.5%. Output composition of the three sectors stood at 20.3: 47.7:32.0; it was 28.4:43.1:28.5 at the end of the 6th, and 27.1:41.6:31.3 at the end of the 7th Five-Year Program periods respectively.

The town is first mentioned in 1209 as Erlwinesberc, although it is suggested that it was founded earlier, in the middle of the 12th century. The long tradition of silver mining around the town came to an end in the beginning of the 20th century. It was only after 1945 that the mining industry reappeared to a limited extent, before finally closing in 1968. From 1900 onwards, various other industries began to take hold in the town, slowly replacing mining as the primary industry.

After the 1954 election, McMahon was appointed Minister for Social Services in place of Athol Townley. In January 1956, he was instead made Minister for Primary Industry, an appointment that was seen as a surprise given his lack of experience in agriculture. He effectively became the junior minister to John McEwen, the deputy leader of the Country Party and Minister for Trade. It was hoped by the Country Party (and tacitly accepted by Menzies) that McMahon would simply be a proxy for McEwen on policy matters.

Thistle is a ghost town in Spanish Fork Canyon in southeastern Utah County, Utah, United States. During the era of steam locomotives, the town's primary industry was servicing trains for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (often shortened to D&RG;, D&RGW;, or Rio Grande). The fortunes of the town were closely linked with those of the railroad until the changeover to diesel locomotives, when the town started to decline. In April 1983, a massive landslide (specifically a complex earthflow) dammed the Spanish Fork (river).

Alfred Maiden was born on 21 August 1922 in Taree, New South Wales. At 16 he began a four-year program at New England University College, graduating in history and economics with honours after just three years. He joined the army in 1941, at 19, and during World War II was positioned in New Guinea. In October 1962, Maiden was appointed Secretary of the Department of Primary Industry He resigned from the role in 1968 to become managing director of the International Wool Secretariat in London.

Melancthon is a rural Canadian township in the northwest corner of Dufferin County, Ontario, bordered on the east by Mulmur Township, Amaranth Township and East Luther Grand Valley to the south, Southgate Township to the west, and the Municipality of Grey Highlands to the north. The township does not include the town of Shelburne on its southern border. It has one of the lowest population densities in southwestern Ontario. The primary industry of the township is farming, with limited beef, dairy, sheep and horse farming.

Labrador City is a town in western Labrador (part of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador), near the Quebec border with a population of 7,220 as of 2016. Neighbouring Labrador City is Wabush, a smaller town with a population of approximately 1,906 as of 2016. Together, the "twin towns" are known as Labrador West. In the 1960s, Labrador City was founded to accommodate employees of the Iron Ore Company of Canada, and iron ore mining continues to be the primary industry in the town.

Oil palm is the principal primary industry. William Clarke College also funds people in that area.William Clarke College, Kellyville, NSW, Australia The northern end of the Kokoda Track terminates at the village of Kokoda in the province and the active volcano Mount Lamington. Once the Kokoda Track was taken and provided access from Port Moresby to the hinterland during the Second World War, the coast of the then Northern District was also the scene of heavy fighting; the Buna, Gona and Sanananda campaigns are particularly well remembered.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Plymouth's primary industry was agriculture, and many of its residents were the descendants of the Connecticut Yankees who first settled the town. Its early architecture resembled that of a small New England village. However, vast anthracite coal beds lay below the surface at various depths, and by the 1850s, coal mining was the town's primary occupation, attracting a more diverse population. After the arrival of the railroad in 1857, the town's architecture became more typical of a growing industrial center.

After the Arab rule was overthrown in 9th–10th centuries, Balakan established its political and economic links with Shaki. Both provinces developed sericulture as their primary industry. The etymology of names such as "Getovlar" (similar to Hettax), Hunbulanchay (similar to Huns), Ingiloy (similar to Gellah) and others confirm habitation of the region by early nomadic Turkic tribes. In 1803 the Balakan Rayon territory was incorporated into the Russian Empire and was administratively a part of Georgia until 1842, after that it was a separate oblast.

In 1815, Jesse Reed invented a machine that mass-produced tacks, which in turn led to the shoe industry becoming established in the town. During the nineteenth and early twentieth century, the manufacture of boots and shoes was its primary industry, with nearly half of the footwear provided for the Union Army during the Civil War being provided by Abington factories. From 1846 to 1865, Abington was a center of the abolitionist movement. In 1874 and 1875, the towns of Rockland and Whitman, respectively, separated and incorporated as towns.

For many years the primary industry of Lakewood was timber, but in recent decades this has changed to the service industry. Most of the local revenue is generated by the tourist trade. The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, which surrounds the area, is a working forest that has been clear-cut in the past and cut-over many times. As recently as the 1950s the Lakewood area was known for its virgin timber and pristine nature, but aggressive logging and clear-cutting significantly changed the face of the area.

During that time, most of the area's virgin forests were cleared and it was only in the 1930s that the Civilian Conservation Corps began replanting them. As a result of these replanting efforts, logging and forestry continue to be an important industry in Three Lakes. As the logging industry moved out of the area, many of the cleared areas were converted to potato farms and agriculture became the community's primary industry through the early 1900s. However, over time these family potato farms were replaced by larger corporate commercial enterprises, which are no longer in production.

High soil salt levels have dramatic impact on plant root zones, in both native vegetation as well as agricultural and pasture crops, natural wetlands and surrounding water ways. An increase in salt can decrease the ability of plants to absorb water through their roots by osmosis, cause leaf burn and necrosis through increased levels of sodium and chloride, and create nutrient and ionic imbalances resulting in poor growth and death. Hazlemere in the snow Park Parade shops in 2006 Hazlemere was a small hamlet in the ancient Desborough Hundred, and the name is recorded as long ago as the 13th century. The crossroads at the centre of the village was originally the meeting point of three different parishes, Penn, Hughenden, and Chepping Wycombe. At the beginning of the 20th century, farming was still the primary industry in the area and in Edwardian times a large proportion of the area was devoted to cherry orchards. Brickmaking was carried out at the Old Kiln and at Oakengrove.

Cheshire School of Agriculture, now known as Reaseheath College Agriculture, especially dairy farming, continued to be Cheshire's primary industry during the 20th century, despite a substantial decline in the proportion of the workforce employed in the sector.Tigwell, pp. 30–46 The number of full-time agricultural workers halved between the 1920s and 1985, and the agricultural workforce has continued to decline into the 21st century. Agricultural earnings increased rapidly over the century, approaching pay in the industrial sector since the Second World War, reflecting an increase in skills required as farming practices were modernised.

There is a 2.5 ton truck buried under the circular area used as a heliport - the truck was stolen from Pirmasens' base and used for spare parts during an inspection in 1976. A M151 Jeep in also buried next to the nearby bunker. When the US military began to downsize in the 1990s, the small US Army posts associated with Husterhoeh Kaserne (Pirmasens) were returned to Germany, including ones located at Maßweiler, Munchweiler, Fischbach, and Clausen. Clausen's primary industry is agricultural though it is a short drive to Pirmasens.

Leduc No. 1 was a major crude oil discovery made near Leduc, Alberta, Canada on February 13, 1947. It provided the geological key to Alberta's most prolific conventional oil reserves and resulted in a boom in petroleum exploration and development across Western Canada. The discovery transformed the Alberta economy; oil and gas supplanted farming as the primary industry and resulted in the province becoming one of the richest in the country. Nationally, the discovery allowed Canada to become self-sufficient within a decade and ultimately a major exporter of oil.

Belmont (pop. 150) is a Canadian rural farming community located in the larger community of Lot 16 in central Prince County, Prince Edward Island. Lot 16 is actually three communities: Belmont, Central, and Southwest Lot 16, and is one of the last communities on Prince Edward Island to continue using their lot designation from the original Island survey by Samuel Holland in the 18th century. The community is situated at the southwestern shore of Malpeque Bay and its primary industry is agriculture, notably dairy and beef cattle, as well as potato and grain crops.

In 1825 (or 1827), the Tariff Manufacturing Company built a carpet mill along the Farmington River, giving its name to the area. The company name came from the Tariff Act of 1824 which included protective tariffs for a number of products, including wool and cotton textiles. The area did not have sufficient housing for the workers, so the company built housing, some of which survives today. The carpet business survived for a few decades, but by 1867, the primary industry in the area was sorting and packing of tobacco.

Esperance Senior High School is a comprehensive public high day and boarding school, located in Esperance, a regional centre southeast of Perth, Western Australia. The school farm north of the town, produces grain, sheep and cattle on a commercial basis. A Pre-Vocational Rural Skills program and a Year 11 and 12 Primary Industry Studies Vocational Education and Training (VET) course are currently provided for students at the School Farm. There is also a farm demonstration block on the school site where lower school agricultural subjects are offered to students.

A leadership spill of the Country Liberal Party in the Northern Territory occurred 2–3 February 2015. Minister for Primary Industry and Mines Willem Westra van Holthe announced in a late night press conference on 2 February that the CLP had elected him as its new leader, and hence Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, replacing Adam Giles. According to Westra van Holthe, the vote in the party room was 9 votes to 5 in favour of rolling Giles. Attorney-General John Elferink had been named as deputy leader, and hence Deputy Chief Minister.

Lucaya is a suburb of Freeport, Bahamas, a city on the island of Grand Bahama, approximately 105 mi (160 km) east-northeast of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lucaya's primary industry is tourism. Major hotels and attractions in the resort are the Our Lucaya resort, which includes both The Radisson and Reef Village properties, Pelican Bay Hotel and the UNEXSO (UNderwater EXplorers SOciety) dive charter operation. UNEXSO was the first destination dive charter business in the world and now features a dolphinarium as well as a variety of SCUBA diving charters including shark feeding dives.

According to the World Bank, Chongqing’s primary economic sector made up approximately 22% of its total GDP in 1996 and approximately 8% in 2016. This decrease in the contribution of the primary sector to Chongqing’s economy may be attributed to its growing rate of urbanisation, which increased from 30% in 1997 to 62% in 2016. This subsequently caused the lack of arable land. By the end of 2018, the total value of Chongqing’s primary industry amounted to 137.827 billion Yuan and occupied approximately 6.8% of its total GDP.

In his profession he enjoyed the common law side in which he specialised. Living in a farming district it was natural that much of his practice was associated with the primary industry and some of his legal battles in this line were fought against New Zealand's leading counsel. The best known is what came to be called 'the dip and drip case' concerning the accurate testing of milk for butterfat content. He served as President of the Taranaki District Law Society and also as a member of the New Zealand Law Society.

Cascas is a town in Northern Peru, capital of Gran Chimú Province in La Libertad Region. Cascas is an idyllic little city of 5000 people located in the mountains of the state of La Libertad, Peru. Located only 2 hours drive from the capital city of Trujillo, it is an easy bus trip with a variety of companies offering safe journeys on a 7-day-a-week basis. The primary industry and source of revenue of Cascas is the growing of grapes and the subsequent production of wine.

Tonawanda in the Seneca tongue means "Swift Running Water". Tonawanda Creek, which flows into the Niagara River, once had large stretches of rapids (see Rapids, New York) until it was tamed with the construction of the Erie Canal. The city also calls itself "The Lumber City," due to its past primary industry and once was the largest port on the Great Lakes during the height of the Erie Canal. Along Goundry Street are mansions built for the lumber barons, including 208 Goundry Street, called "Kent Place", designed by Stanford White.

Atkinson, working from Wairuna between 1936 and 1960, played an early, on-going and important role in the creation of Australian Brahman and Brahman cross-bred cattle. Accordingly, Ken Atkinson was awarded membership of the Order of Australia on 26 January 1983 in recognition of his service to primary industry. He died on 1 October 1990 and his ashes were interred in Wairuna cemetery beside his grandfather's grave. Wairuna remained in the Atkinson family until 1976 when it was sold as a result of the beef cattle price collapse.

Throughout their recorded history, the plantations of the Chagos Archipelago had a population of approximately 1,000 individuals, about two-thirds of whom lived on Diego Garcia. A peak population of 1,142 on all islands was recorded in 1953. The primary industry throughout the island's colonial period consisted of coconut plantations producing copra and/or coconut oil, until closure of the plantations and relocation of the inhabitants in October 1971. For a brief period in the 1880s, it served as a coaling station for steamships transiting the Indian Ocean from the Suez Canal to Australia.

Page served in parliament for almost 42 years, the third longest-serving Australian parliamentarian of all time; only Menzies lasted longer as the leader of a major Australian political party. He secured his party's independence by refusing overtures to merge with the Nationalists and the UAP, and the policies that he favoured – decentralisation, agrarianism, and government support of primary industry – have remained the basis of its platform up to the present day. The coalitions that he established and maintained with Bruce and Lyons have served as a model for all subsequent coalition governments.

McEwen's most serious disagreement with Holt came in November 1967, when it was announced that Australia – which had converted to decimal currency the previous year – would not follow the recent devaluation of the pound sterling. This effectively marked Australia's withdrawal from the sterling area. McEwen issued a public statement criticising the decision, which he feared would damage primary industry. Holt considered this a breach of cabinet solidarity, and made preparations for the Liberal Party to govern in its own right in case the Country Party withdrew from the government.

He failed to gain support for this plan, and the election went ahead, with Stott easily retaining his seat. So great a reputation did he have as the friend of primary industry, that he was sometimes called the "Christ of the Mallee" where, it was written, "few would have glanced if he had walked on water". Following the 1941 election, Premier Tom Playford approached Stott and recommended that the latter join the LCL. While Stott refused to do so, he remained a fervent admirer of Playford, and publicly praised the Premier wherever possible.

In 1932-33, Kingaroy exported a higher average grade of butter than any other Queensland factory. Throughout the 1930s, the factory won numerous awards in Australia and England for the quality of its butter. During 1938-9, a record year, almost a third of all Queensland's butter was produced in the Wide Bay-Burnett, with Kingaroy the fifth largest producer in the state. In the 1930s Kingaroy Shire had a burgeoning peanut industry and was a well established centre for maize production, but it was dairying that was the principal primary industry.

Historically, Sampson County has been an agricultural county with a slow rise in population since the creation of the county. The agricultural sector continues to be one of the leading pillars of the economy. Leading industries prior to the 20th century were naval stores, timber and agriculture. After the Civil War, the Naval Stores and timber industries began to lose production value in the county to the lack of cheap labor due to the eradication of slavery among other factors; as a result, subsistence agriculture became the primary industry.

Its key areas of work include primary industry (in SA, mainly agriculture, viticulture and farming of livestock), marine aquaculture, and biosecurity. Investors were among the first targets, as Gartner had just resigned as partner of Oppenheimer & Co., but at Oppenheimer he had also begun servicing a group of Chief Information Officers (CIOs) of large corporations, which became the base for Gartner's enterprise activities. As Gartner Group's coverage of IBM was deep (IBM was the primary industry vendor at the time), other vendors desired to be tied into Gartner’s research network. Thus, the market Gartner addressed was unusually broad, and each constituency provided insights and information which benefitted others, arguably creating market advantage.

Colin John Bell (born 18 May 1941) is a former Australian politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1983 to 1989, representing Lower West Province. Bell was born in Bunbury, and attended Bunbury Senior High School. A dairy farmer at Capel before entering politics, he several terms as president of the dairy section of the Primary Industry Association, and also served on the board of the Australia Dairy Corporation. Bell entered parliament at the 1983 state election, replacing the retiring Neil McNeill in Lower West Province.

Aquaculture in Australia is the country's fastest growing primary industry accounting for 34% of the countries seafood production. Salmon is a part of this movement across the country with Atlantic salmon becoming a mainstream fish produced through the aquaculture systems. Salmon farms are found in Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia and while they are making an effort to improve salmon farming offshore and inshore it is still producing a small amount of salmon for Australia. Although the countries were developing a negative trade relationship, Australia values its long-standing close and productive relationship with Canada.

The major towns were reported as being Ardrossan, Maitland, Pine Point and Port Victoria. Primary industry consisted of the cultivation of barley, wheat, peas, beans, oats and small seed crops while secondary industry consisted of the mining of dolomite to the south of Ardrossan and retail shopping in Ardrossan and Maitland. The council expanded on 9 October 1987 when the District Council of Clinton was merged into the council. The merged council saw sixteen councillors representing the eight wards of Tiparra, Clinton, Maitland, Kalkabury, Cunningham, Ardrossan, Wauraltee and Muloowurtie.

The Australian government estimates that Australia's net emissions in 2017 were 556.4 million tonnes -equivalent, to which the sectoral contributions were approximately as follows: electricity, 33%; transport, 18%; stationary energy (excluding electricity), 17%; agriculture, 13%; fugitive emissions, 10%; industrial processes, 6%; waste, 3%. This includes about 13% for non-electricity residential use. Of the 190 million tons emitted for Electricity in 2017, 20 million tons was for primary industry, 49 million tones for manufacturing (which might include aluminum smelting), 51 million tons Commercial, Construction and Transport, and 33 million tons Residential.

Chloralkali process has been in use since the 19th century and is a primary industry in the United States, Western Europe, and Japan.It has become the principal source of chlorine during the 20th century. The diaphragm cell process, and the mercury cell process have been used for over 100 years and are environmentally unfriendly through their use of asbestos and mercury, respectively, but the membrane cell process was only developed in the past 60 years. The membrane cell process is a superior method in its energy efficiency and lack of harmful chemicals.

Ningxiang County has a variety of industries, such as the Wangbuliao Clothing, Sundance Clothing, Tsingtao Brewery, , and Sany. The county's manufacturering products include paper, technological equipment, automobiles, food, clothing and other goods. The service sector of the county's economy includes things like banking, health care, construction, communications, education, tourism and government. Tourism comprises a large part of Ningxiang County's economy, with 20 million visitors spending ￥2 billion in 2014. According to preliminary accounting of the statistical authority, the gross domestic product of Ningxiang City in 2017 was 122,445 million yuan (18,135 million US dollars), up by 10.3 percent over the previous year. Of this total, the value added of the primary industry was 12,382 million yuan (1,834 million US dollars), up by 3.9 percent, that of the secondary industry was 80,666 million yuan (11,947 million US dollars), up by 10.6 percent and that of the tertiary industry was 29,397 million yuan (4,354 million US dollars), up by 12.5 percent. The value added of the primary industry accounted for 10.11 percent of the GDP; that of the secondary industry accounted for 65.88 percent; and that of the tertiary industry accounted for 24.01 percent. The per capita GDP in 2017 was 96,118 yuan (14,236 US dollars).

Kenneth Shaw Wriedt (11 July 192718 October 2010Tribute to Ken Wriedt, Premier of Tasmania, 18 October 2010) was an Australian politician and leader of the Tasmanian branch of the Australian Labor Party. Wriedt was born in Melbourne, of Danish ancestry. His early life included time spent as a seaman.Former Labor leader dies, ABC News, 18 October 2010 He was elected as an Australian Labor Party Senator for Tasmania at the 1967 Senate election. When the Whitlam government won office at the December 1972 election, Wriedt (associated with the ALP's right wing) became Minister for Primary Industry.

Dryland farming and cattle ranching were main occupations of Cat Creek since its founding, with farms more prevalent in the 1900s. With irrigation, large crops of alfalfa, grain, vegetables, berries and even fruit, such as apples, cherries and plums, may be raised. Small numbers of isolated sheep and cattle ranches were in the area, with cattle ranching, today, remaining the primary industry. A lengthy period of oil exploration and production was also part of the area's economy. An estimated 24 million barrels of oil have been produced from 150 oil wells in Cat Creek's 54-year petroleum production history.

In 2001, Bert Grof was made Fellow of the Tropical Grassland Society of Australia Inc. for his great contribution to our understanding of exotic species ecology, and helping to improve the incomes and lifestyles of innumerable families around the tropical world by plant introduction for tropical pasture improvement. He was made a Member of the Order of Australia for services to primary industry through research and the development of sustainable tropical pasture technology to increase food production, rural incomes, and scientific knowledge in Asia, Central and Southern America, and Australia, was granted to Bert Grof in 2006.

Agriculture is the primary industry in most of the Central Valley. A notable exception to the predominance of agriculture has been the Sacramento area, where there is a large and stable workforce of government employees. Despite state hiring cutbacks and the closure of several military bases, Sacramento's economy has continued to expand and diversify and now more closely resembles that of the nearby San Francisco Bay Area. Primary sources of population growth are people migrating from the San Francisco Bay Area seeking lower housing costs, as well as immigration from Asia, Central America, Mexico, Ukraine and the rest of the former Soviet Union.

However, a cross-petition from residents opposing the name change was received and the Minister declined to allow the name change. The change of name was finally gazetted in 1937. In 1986, the council was described as covering an area of including subject to permanent water inundation, and having a population of about 4400 people. The Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Paul Railroad-Grafton Station, also known as Grafton Depot, is a historic structure located in Grafton, Iowa, United States. The town of Grafton was surveyed and platted by the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad in 1878, and the depot was completed by the railroad the following year. The railroad was important to the economic life of the town as it was the main source for receiving consumer goods and selling agricultural products, which was the area's primary industry. The depot closed in October 1974, one of the last small town depots to close in Iowa.

The economy of Ballarat is driven by all three economic sectors, though contemporary Ballarat has emerged as a primarily service economy with its main industry being the service industry and its key areas of business including tourism, hospitality, retail, professional services, government administration and education. Secondary industry including manufacturing, which had grown in the 20th century remains an important sector. The city's historic primary industry roots including mining and agriculture continue to play a role, though one that has declined since the 20th century. Industries emerging this century include information technology service sector and renewable energy.

Due to the standardisation of facilities, schools across the state were developed in distinctly similar ways and became complexes of typical components. Higher education in Cairns was offered by private schools from at least the 1880s. Citizens of Cairns agitated for a state high school from around 1915 and in February 1917 Cairns State High School was established as a secondary department on the grounds of the Cairns Central State School (then called the Cairns Boys' State School). In Queensland, the government was slow to establish state secondary education, considering this to be of little relevance to Queensland's primary industry-based economy.

Glassmaking was the primary industry for many Monongahela River towns, including the city of Pittsburgh as well as small towns such as New Geneva and Greensboro, for several decades preceding the Civil War. The late 18th-early 19th century New Geneva/Greensboro glassworks proved that quality glass, natural resources, and transportation networks could be effectively harnessed. After the Civil War, the manufacture of stoneware became Greensboro's leading industry, in addition to a prosperous clay tile manufacturer who specialized in roofing tiles. The mid 19th-century Greensboro stoneware potteries were among the most productive in the eastern United States.

Barrowford has been a centre for textile production since at least the 16th century when a fulling mill is recorded as being in the village. Until the late 18th century, the manufacture of woollen cloth was the primary industry, but in 1780 the fulling mill was rebuilt by Abraham Hargreaves as a cotton mill. The cotton mill was powered by a water wheel and fed by water drawn off at the weir on Pendle Water. Kenneth Edward Vowles (born 29 September 1971) is an Australian politician and former cricketer from the Northern Territory. He was a member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 2012 until 2020, representing the electorate of Johnston. He was Minister for Primary Industry and Resources and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs in the Gunner government from 2016 to 2018. He was sacked as a minister and expelled from the Labor caucus in December 2018 and subsequently remained in parliament as a Labor backbencher outside caucus, but announced his resignation from parliament in November 2019 with effect from January 2020.

Sinclair was elected to parliament in 1963, and added to the ministry in 1965 as part of the Menzies Government - along with Doug Anthony, he is the last surviving minister who served under Menzies as well as in the First Holt Ministry. Over the following six years, he held various portfolios under four other prime ministers. Sinclair was elected deputy leader of his party in 1971, under Anthony. He was a senior member of the Fraser Government, spending periods as Minister for Primary Industry (1975–1979), Minister for Communications (1980–1982), and Minister for Defence (1982–1983).

After spending the three years of the Whitlam Labor government in opposition, he again became Minister for Primary Industry in 1975, in the Fraser Government. Standing for the Country Party, Gayfer entered parliament at the 1962 state election, winning the seat of Avon. The municipality owes its existence to coal mining, the area's primary industry since the first mine opened in 1900. Along with electricity production, Traralgon benefits from the mining for oil and natural gas in the nearby Bass Strait fields. A significant forestry industry operates including logging of both plantation and natural forest timber, The largest paper mill in Australia is located nearby in Maryvale and provides local employment for over 2000 people. By 1853, Dookhan (1975) attributes a population of 1,235 residents on Jost Van Dyke, 196 of whom died of a cholera outbreak in that same year. From the Emancipation Era forward, the community of Jost Van Dyke subsisted mainly on small scale fishing and subsistence agriculture. Charcoal-making was a practice that began during the plantation era when strong fires were vital for sugar and rum production, and charcoal making emerged as a primary industry for the BVI during the Post- Emancipation years. Between the 1920s and 1960s, an estimated 20,000 tons of charcoal were exported from the BVI to the US Virgin Islands. (1998.

Land use is mainly residential with some land adjoining the suburb of Victor Harbor in the north-east being zoned for "light industry" and land at the locality's southern extremity being zoned for "primary industry". When the mill was completed in 1766, it was the largest flour mill in Ireland. By channeling the water of the Boyne through the weir that passes under the five- storey building, the water-powered mill in the building ground flour until the 1870s, at which point roller mills replaced grindstones. The mill building was later converted to processing Irish scutch flax for clothing. With competition in the textile industry, the mill began to transition from primary industry to more secondary finished goods, and to that end the workforce largely moved to the "new mill" in the early-mid-20th century, which could house the longer lines of power looms.

The Trust raised funds to further Jones' research and successfully lobbied the Queensland State Government to provide an annual subsidy. In 1942 the Long-Range Weather Forecasting Trust, a non-profit body, was established by organisations within primary industry and with further financial assistance from the Queensland Government to enable Jones to pursue his research at Crohamhurst until his death in 1954.

In 2017, Yangquan achieved a regional gross domestic product of 67.2 billion yuan, an increase of 6.3 percent at comparable prices. Murray Harbour With an area of 4.1 km2 and an extensive waterfront facing a large natural harbour (also named Murray Harbour), the community's primary industry is fishing, most notably lobster and scallops. It also hosts some secondary industry in the form of fish processing and a growing tertiary service economy centred on tourism. The community has a car repair station, a fire station, a grocery, two restaurants, a number of churches, a marina and a number of wharves. The Community Centre hosts many events throughout the year, including plays, music and comedy shows - including Small Halls Festival - ceilidhs, suppers, painting classes, seniors' events and more.

According to preliminary accounting, in the year of 2018, the gross domestic product of Shihezi Reclamation Area reached CN￥54,851 million (US$8,289 million), an increase of 4.6% over the previous year. The value added of the primary industry was CN￥8,955 million (US$1,353 million), an increase of 7.8%, the value added of the secondary industry decreased by 5.6% to CN￥19,764 million (US$2,987 million), and the value added of the tertiary industry was CN￥25,059 million (US$3,787 million), an increase of 12.8%. During the interwar period, a rapid expansion of agricultural activities occurred in the Kingaroy Shire. Dairying was the principal primary industry in the shire, with the Kingaroy Butter Factory one of the largest producers in the region, the outlet for the numerous dairy farms engaged in the production of cream. Kingaroy Shire was the centre for Queensland's burgeoning peanut industry, boasting over 550 growers and under cultivation by 1928, with the town's first timber silos built in that year. The Mengel family owned Neutral Station, a cattle station 200 km north of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. They purchased Banka Banka Station which had slightly better rainfall so they could move cattle there in a drought. One of their heifers had reacted to a test that indicated a possibility that it was infected with brucellosis. Two inspectors from the Northern Territory Department of Primary Industry and Fisheries, as part of a government-sponsored campaign to eradicate brucellosis and tuberculosis in cattle, told the Mengels that there were restrictions on the movement of their cattle which meant they were only able to be moved to an abattoir for slaughter.

Plymouth, Pennsylvania sits on the west side of Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley, wedged between the Susquehanna River and the Shawnee Mountain range. Just below the mountain are hills that surround the town and form a natural amphitheater that separates the town from the rest of the valley. Below the hills, the flat lands are formed in the shape of a frying pan, the pan being the Shawnee flats, once the center of the town's agricultural activities, and the handle being a spit of narrow land extending east from the flats, where the center of town is located. At the beginning of the 19th century, Plymouth's primary industry was agriculture.

In 2007, the South Australian Department of Primary Industry and Resources described Mintabie's geology as follows: > the Eromanga Basin borders onto old basement rocks which are about 1,500 > million years old and consist of granite and gneiss.

This involved the removal of state and federal legislation surrounding the manufacture, sourcing and pricing of milk as a commodity. Deregulation would ensure a far more competitive dairy industry while simultaneously benefiting consumers by lowering retail prices of milk. Willem Rudolf Westra van Holthe (born 22 August 1962) is an Australian politician. He was a Country Liberal Party member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2016, representing the electorate of Katherine. He was Deputy Chief Minister of the Northern Territory from 6–14 March 2013 and from February 2015 to February 2016, resuming the position following a leadership challenge to Chief Minister Adam Giles, in which he was briefly the Chief Minister-designate. He served as Minister for Primary Industry and Fisheries, Minister for Land Resource Management and Minister for Essential Services (2012–2016), Minister for Mines and Energy (2012–2015) and Minister for Public Employment (2015–2016) under both Terry Mills and Giles.

Liuyang fireworks are protected as an original product and hold the honor of China's famous brand. In 2010, Liuyang's GDP was up to 55.677 billion RMB (8.225 billion dollars). The added value of primary industry was 5.169 billion RMB (0.764 billion dollars). The added value of secondary industry was 37.905 billion RMB (5.599 billion dollars). The added value of tertiary industry was 12.603 billion RMB (1.862 billion dollars). The total value of out-put of Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Fishery was 8.006 billion RMB (1.183 billion dollars). In agriculture, except for grain production, the annual output of flue-cured tobacco was 131,670,000 tons. Liuyang's total industrial output value was 90.289 billion RMB (13.338 billion dollars).

Among the main economic activities, a primary industry was salt mining from brine at a site between Caralis and Quartu, still undertaken today. This salt as well as grain, leather (tanned in establishments found near the port) and other products made in Sardinia were exported to other provinces of the empire. In the Roman period, although administered by the prefect of the province, the city maintained institutions of Carthaginian origin, such as the Sufeti, magistrates that were elected annually until the time of the granting of the "municipium" status. On that occasion, according to some researchers,Piero Meloni, La Sardegna romana, Chiarella, Sassari, 1990 a coin was minted with the names of the last two sufeti of the city.

Aulich was elected in the 1976 Tasmanian election and then re- elected in 1979, before being defeated in 1982. While in the Tasmanian parliament he held a number of ministerial positions in the Lowe and Holgate governments, including Administrative Services, Industrial Relations and Manpower Planning, Primary Industry, the Environment, Water Resources, Construction, Education and the Arts. In 1982 Aulich was appointed by the National Executive of the Australian Labor Party to be the State Secretary of the Tasmanian ALP with a brief to rewrite party rules, increase membership and rebuild the finances of the State Branch. McLellan imported his first batch of oyster seed from Japan and seeded the beach areas around Fanny Bay - Mud Bay, Ship Point, Buckley Bay and Denman Island. His work started what is now a primary industry in the South Coast of British Columbia, Canada, employing over one hundred people and contributing significantly to the economy of the Baynes Sound region. McLellan's descendants still own and operate the oyster and clam farm located in Fanny Bay, Mac's Oysters Ltd. In Queensland, governments were slow to establish state secondary education, considering this to be of little relevance to Queensland's primary industry-based economy. The Grammar Schools Act 1860 provided scholarships for high-achieving students to attend elite grammar schools, although few were awarded. It was not until 1912 that the government instituted a high school system, whereby separate high schools were established in major towns or, where the student population was too small, a primary school was expanded to include a "high top".

The Lago refinery was located on the east end of the island and on the west end Royal Dutch Shell had a small refinery, the Eagle Refinery which closed soon after World War II. MINADER has 35 centres for agricultural training (24 are rural training centres and 11 are centres for the training of young farmers). Furthermore, these two ministries are actually offering training in the rural development sector like extension agents, agricultural advisers and professional farmer groupings (farmers’ organisations) The Government, faced with the effects of the financial crisis, has taken steps to boost production of commodities such as corn, rice, cassava, potato, oil palm and plantain. For food crops, these measures aim to improve commercialisation products through the construction of warehouses for conservation. In 2009, the agricultural sector accounted for approximately 75.6% of primary industry with 68.8% for food and agriculture 6.8% for export crops.

The town of Merlin, and the adjacent townships of Tilbury East on its west side, and Raleigh to its east (no longer officially townships since the formation of the municipality of Chatham-Kent in 1998) maintain farming as the primary industry. JPVM made two submissions on the same day at the hearings in Melbourne, the first dealing with the establishment of an Australian Radio Research Board and then the establishment of a National Standards Laboratory. All the other submissions which were made were for primary industry programmes. The proposal to form the Australian RRB was adopted at this time to be funded by CSIR, the Department of Defence & the PMG & to work on similar lines to the British RRB under Robert Watson Watt.

With the backing of Sinclair, who unsuccessfully challenged Tim Fischer for the party leadership, he defeated three more senior candidates – Peter McGauran, John Sharp and Bruce Scott. At the time he was described in The Canberra Times as "a young, good-looking man with a long lineage in farming who has been tipped for party leadership ever since he entered politics because he bridges the traditional interests of the former Country Party and its need to update its image for the 1990s". He was subsequently included in John Hewson's shadow cabinet as Shadow Minister for Primary Industry. Anderson served as acting leader of the Nationals for around a month starting in January 1994, in the absence of Fischer who had been badly injured in a car accident.

In 1993, Parkinson became the key person on the Maralinga clean-up project, representing the then federal Labor government (through the Department of Primary Industry and Energy). By 1997, however, there was much cost-cutting involved in the project, and differences of opinion about how the project should proceed, which led to the sacking of Parkinson by the new Howard government. Maralinga's nuclear nightmare continues , 2 November 2007, By Phil Shannon, Green Left Weekly issue 730 The clean-up, which involved simply burying untreated long-lived radioactive debris in holes in the ground, was totally unsatisfactory according to Parkinson. He exposed the situation through the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, provoking a strong rebuttal from the government, composed of scientific distortion and personal abuse.

A passionate horseman, in 1966 he donated 1000 pounds for the creation of a trophy for the Tom Quilty Gold Cup. An event designed to test the skill of horse and rider it was awarded to the winner of a 100-mile (160 km) who could not only complete the gruelling course but whose horse also finished in sound health. Quilty and his good mate RM Williams (the now famous boot and saddle maker) created the Tom Quilty Gold Cup a national championship endurance horse event, held annually in Australia which is now the biggest professional endurance ride in the Southern Hemisphere. In 1976, Tom Quilty was awarded the prestigious O.B.E. the second highest ranking Order of the British Empire honour for his services to primary industry.

Many years ago, Kamikawa's primary industry was coal mining. Since then, Japan has adopted higher environmental standards and coal production is no longer economically sound, the townspeople like those in Kamikawa have had to find other means of employment. Beef and other types of farming are common ("Black Angus" cattle were originally imported here from Alberta, Canada in the 1980s), as well as "Purin" (pudding) producers and "Ramen" producers and shops. Kamikawa also capitalizes on its proximity to Daisetsuzan National Park as many of its townspeople work with Road Construction and Transportation through the Town Municipal Government, and others work in the tourist haven/onsen heaven that is Sōunkyō Gorge (modeled after Whistler, British Columbia, Canada - site of the 2010 Winter Olympics).

Matsue was a fervent supporter of the Nanshin-ron doctrine, which advocated Japanese territorial expansion and colonization of the islands of Oceania and eventually the European-held territories of the Indonesian archipelago. Building on the resources of the defunct Nan'yō Shokusan, Matsue was able to build a substantial empire supported by the sugar industry during the 1920s and 1930s. In addition to sponsoring the immigration of over 5000 workers from Okinawa and northern Japan to the Mariana Islands, and clearing over 3000 hectares for plantations, the company also built a sugar refinery, alcohol distillation plant, ice place and a railroad. Sugar cane became the primary industry of Saipan and by the mid-1930s the company exported over twelve million yen of sugar to mainland Japan.

The Lötschental was likely first settled during the Roman period, but remained largely cut off from the outside world until the beginning of the twentieth century. The valley remained remote and difficult to access, especially during the winters, until the construction of the Lötschbergbahn, between 1907 and 1913, connected it to an international railway line. Traditional farming, involving primarily agriculture and cattle and sheep rearing, began to disappear with the extension of the road to Blatten after World War II. Tourism increasingly came to function as the valley’s primary industry, especially since the construction of a cablecar from Wiler to Lauchernalp in 1972. Product's lifecycle Manufacturing is the production of products for use or sale, using labor and machines, tools, and chemical or biological processing or formulation. It is the essence of secondary industry. The term may refer to a range of human activity, from handicraft to high-tech, but is most commonly applied to industrial design, in which raw materials from primary industry are transformed into finished goods on a large scale. Such goods may be sold to other manufacturers for the production of other more complex products (such as aircraft, household appliances, furniture, sports equipment or automobiles), or distributed via the tertiary industry to end users and consumers (usually through wholesalers, who in turn sell to retailers, who then sell them to individual customers).

In most places, the Pacific oyster was introduced to replace the native oyster stocks which were seriously dwindling due to overfishing or disease. In addition, this species was introduced to create an industry that was previously not available at all in that area. In addition to intentional introductions, the Pacific oyster has spread through accidental introductions either through larvae in ballast water or on the hulls of ships. In some places in the world, though, it is considered by biosecurity, primary industry, and conservation departments and ministries to be an invasive species, where it is outcompeting native species, such as the Olympia oyster in Puget Sound, Washington; the rock oyster, Saccostrea commercialis, in the North Island of New Zealand; and the blue mussel, Mytilus edulis, in the Wadden Sea.

The National Biosecurity Committee (NBC) was established under the IGAB in 2012. The NBC is "responsible for managing a national, strategic approach to biosecurity threats relating to plant and animal pests and diseases, marine pests and aquatics, and the impact of these on agricultural production, the environment, community well-being and social amenity", with one of its core objectives being to cooperation, coordination and consistency among the various government agencies involved. It provides advice on national biosecurity matters, and provides updates on progress towards implementing the recommendations of the 2017 Review to the Agriculture Senior Officials Committee.

On 3 February, the head of the State Emergency Service (SES) and then-Premier Joh Bjelke- Petersen toured northern Queensland to inspect damage. The government of Australia vowed to assist by providing financial and emergency services, also offering to provide aid to banana and sugar cane farmers who suffered losses as a result of Winifred. Two government helicopters were sent shortly thereafter, assessing the severity of damage, evacuating residents, and delivering food. Bjelke-Petersen later expressed anger at the federal government for having increased the threshold for disaster relief before raising loans, and also stated that the Federal Minister for Primary Industry, John Kerin, had no right to accompany him on his visit to northern Queensland, only offering to discuss an offer provided that the federal government was willing to provide financial assistance.

Yangquan is also located in the eastern developed areas and the central and western regions of the combination zone, and also located in the reasonable transport sector through Tianjin, Qingdao, Huanghua. There are the ninth pass and Niangzi pass of the Great Wall, the Cangshan tourist Scenic spot, the Guanshan Academy, the former residence of Shi pingmei, the Liangjiazhai Hot Spring, and the Shinaoshan Forest Park. In 2017, Yangquan achieved a regional gross domestic product of 67.2 billion yuan, an increase of 6.3 percent at comparable prices. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 1.04 billion yuan, up 3.0 percent, the added value of the secondary industry was 32.04 billion yuan, an increase of 5.6 percent, and that of the tertiary industry was 34.12 billion yuan, an increase of 7.1 percent.

In 2017, the total amount of electricity used by the whole society in Yangquan City was 8.29 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 16.5 per cent. Among them, electricity consumption in the primary industry was 60 million kilowatt hours, up 8.3 percent, and that in the secondary industry was 6.69 billion kilowatt hours, up 18.1 percent, of which industrial power consumption was 6.64 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 18.0 percent. The general pattern of development for wealthy nations was a transition from a primary industry-based economy to a manufacturing-based one, and then to a service- based economy. Romania did not follow this pattern, manufacturing has always been secondary, though certainly not unimportant. In part because of this, Romania did not suffer as greatly from the pains of deindustrialization in the 1970s and 1980s. Manufacturers have been attracted to Romania due to the highly educated population with lower labour costs than the EU. Romania's government-run healthcare system is also an important attraction, as it exempts companies from the high health insurance costs they must pay in the EU. Romania is also perceived as a dynamic market for machine tools, especially in the backdrop of growth in the domestic automobile and mechanical engineering sectors.

The Cummins to Buckleboo line of the Eyre Peninsula Railway passes into the county from the south and terminates in the locality of Buckleboo. Land use within the county is divided between primary industry and conservation. The protected areas are located in the county include the following conservation parks and conservation reserves: # Conservation parks - Caralue in the south west, Lake Gilles in the north-east corner, Malgra in the south-east and the eastern end of the Pinkawillinie at the western side. # Conservation reserves - the Buckleboo, Cunyarie, Lacroma, Mootra, Moongi, Pinkawillinie Reservoir, and Tola Conservation Reserves are located in the county's centre adjoining the alignment of the Cummins to Buckleboo line of the Eyre Peninsula railway, and the Poolgarra Conservation Reserve located in the county's south-west corner.

Kerin was highly regarded as Minister for Primary Industry After an initially positive start, Kerin was judged by several journalists as failing to respond adequately to the Liberal- National Coalition's proposals for their new 'Fightback!' economic policy. Kerin was further undermined by hostile briefing by some from within the Labor Caucus, and ultimately his authority in office was fatally undermined when he made a public gaffe by appearing to forget the meaning of a gross operating surplus. Hawke felt that he had no option but to sack Kerin as Treasurer, replacing him with Ralph Willis, and instead appointing Kerin as Minister for Transport and Communications. However, his time in this role would be brief, as Keating mounted a successful challenge to Hawke's leadership less than a fortnight later.

In 2001, the Gross Domestic Product in Jishou was 19.45 billion yuan, with a revenue of 1.45 billion yuan. Jishou produces fruits, especially kiwis and oranges, vegetables, livestock and poultry, and tobacco. Tourism is becoming an important industry, since the ancient city of Fenghuang, is about 30 minutes away and Dehang National Park is about 40 minutes away. According to preliminary estimation, the gross domestic product in 2018 was CN￥16,762 million ($2,533 million), up by 10.1 percent over the previous year. Of this total, the value added of the primary industry was CN￥716 million ($108 million), up by 3.5 percent, that of the secondary industry was CN￥4,841 million ($732 million), up by 11.8 percent and that of the tertiary industry was CN￥11,206 million ($1,693 million), up by 9.8 percent.

This influence within these important primary industry bodies allowed Stott to build a power base for himself that assisted with his continued re-election over the next three decades. In addition to his parliamentary work on rural issues, such as successfully introducing legislation to secure a (high) stable price for wheat and to enable bulk handling of grain, Stott also proved himself to be adept at championing prickly social issues, including introducing a successful Private Member's Bill to reduce the period a divorce could be granted in the case of desertion from five to three years. In 2016, the industrial structure of Haining was increasingly optimized towards one that the tertiary industry accounts for the largest percentage and the primary industry the smallest. The value added of the secondary industry of the city was RMB 32.68 billion in 2016, playing a dominant role with a percentage of 53.5% among the three levels of industries; and the tertiary industry which saw a rapid growth, accounted for 43.9%, representing 55.6% of the GDP growth.

Often affectionately referred to simply as "Nethy" the village has, since Victorian times been a tourist destination noted for its quiet and secluded location at the edge of the Abernethy Forest. It is in the heart of Strathspey in the Highlands of Scotland, between Aviemore and Grantown, and is within the boundary of the Cairngorms National Park which was established in 2003. A primary industry of Nethy Bridge was forestry, with at one time several sawmills in the area, but this has long since subsided and now much of the income is derived from tourism. The Cummins to Kimba line of the Eyre Peninsula Railway passes through the county, entering at its south-west corner, passing through the hundreds of Brooker and Moody in an east-west direction, before changing to a south-north alignment that passes through the hundreds of Butler, Verran, Rudall, Smeaton and Pascoe. The principal land use is primary industry, which is represented by broadacre farming of wheat and livestock, the mining of jade, and aquaculture at Arno Bay and in Franklin Harbor on the coast of Spencer Gulf. Uncleared land in the county’s north-west corner and its south-west is protected respectively as the Hambidge and Hincks Wilderness Protection Areas, which occupy a total area of . Other protected areas within the county include the following conservation parks - Carappee Hill, Darke Range, Franklin Harbor, Heggaton, Middlecamp Hills, Moody Tank, Munyaroo, Rudall, Sheoak Hill, The Plug Range, Verran Tanks, Wharminda, and Yeldulknie.

Jiaozhou, which belongs to Qingdao, Shandong, is located in the southwest of Shandong Peninsula and the northwest coast of Jiaozhou Bay. Chengyang District in the east, Jimo District in the west, Gaomi in the west, Huangdao District in the South and Pingdu in the north. The city is situated between 36 00 - 36 30 N, 119 37 - 120E, 51 kilometers across the East and west, 54.3 kilometers in the north and south, with a total area of 1324 square kilometers. As of 2016, there were six streets and six towns in Jiaozhou, with a total resident population of 89,3000. Local GDP reached 103.59 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry was 4.944 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 53.815 billion yuan and the added value of the tertiary industry was 44.781 billion yuan. The proportion of three industries is 4.8:52:43.2.

The Crystal Brook-Broken Hill railway line passes through the county in a north- easterly direction passing from Peterborough in the south entering via the Hundred of Nackara to Yunta in the east and then onward to Broken Hill. The county is located both within the local government area of the District Council of Peterborough which occupies the county’s south-west corner and the state’s Pastoral Unincorporated Area where municipal services are provided by the Government of South Australia via agencies such as the Outback Communities Authority (OCA). Within the county, the OCA provides services to the community living in Yunta. Land use within the part of the county located within the District Council of Peterborough is ’primary production’ and is concerned with “agricultural production and the grazing of stock on relatively large holdings.” Land use within the part located in the 'pastoral unincorporated area' is also concerned with primary industry with pastoralism being the dominant activity.

Ross Garnaut Ross Gregory Garnaut (born 28 July 1946, Perth, Western Australia) is an Australian economist, currently serving as a vice- chancellor's fellow and professorial fellow of economics at the University of Melbourne. He was previously distinguished Professor of Economics at the Australian National University, the Director of the ANU Asia Pacific School of Economics and Management and was the longstanding Head of the Department of Economics. He is the author of numerous publications in scholarly journals on international economics, public finance and economic development, particularly in relation to East Asia and the Southwest Pacific. Throughout his career Garnaut held a number of influential political and economic positions as: senior economic adviser to Prime Minister Bob Hawke (1983–85), Australia's ambassador to China (1985–88), chairman of the Primary Industry Bank of Australia (1989–94), chairman of BankWest (1988–95), head of division in the Papua New Guinea Department of Finance (1975–76) and chairman of Lihir Gold.

Initially, coal was mined entirely for local consumption, but with the arrival of the railroads, coal from the region was shipped widely. Letts moved to the Northern Territory in 1957, initially working in Alice Springs before transferring to Darwin as the District Veterinary Officer for the Northern Region of the Northern Territory.
