In February 2011 the World Social Forum took place in Dakar, Senegal with 75,000 participants from 132 countries organizing around 1,200 activities. Among the speakers was Canadian social activist and author Naomi Klein and Bolivian President Evo Morales. The Forum was at first plagued with logistical problems, as a number of events had to be canceled at the last minute because of a lack of space, and a student strike against the policies of President Abdoulaye Wade in Diop University interrupted some scheduled plenaries.

The meetings of the various committees (local, regional, national) are called plenarias. Plenarias cannot take decisions, only develop technical and administrative issues, as they are constituted by committees without decision-making powers. Another method of decision-making is through local and regional plenaries (or plenary assemblies), and congresses, in which industry and various posts unions take active part sending delegations with previously reached and written agreements. The National Plenary does not follow this rule, as in this case the delegations with the written agreements come from the regional confederations.

AAJA holds an annual conference each summer in the United States where more than 800 Asian American journalists and allies attend each year for the workshops, plenaries, keynote speakers, job fair, and awards banquet. The three-day conference is the largest gathering of Asian journalists in the world. The conference has been held annually since 1987. Coe is focussed on challenging gender stereotypes, increasing accessibility and promoting representation and inclusion for all members of under-represented groups. She was recognised as one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women in the TrailBlazer category by Women's Executive Network in 2016. Coe is on the advisory board of non-profit hErVOLUTION, a group developing education and employment for young women in STEM, and the Executive Advisory Council of First Robotics Canada. One of the plenaries is the Interactive Paper Session, in which participants display their work in the form of visual poster presentations and are awarded based on both the merit of their research and the visual quality of their presentations. The RDA organises two major plenary conferences a year that are often co-located within other international data sharing initiatives such as the 12th RDA plenary being part of "International Data Week, 2018" in Gaborone, co-organised by RDA, the ICSU World Data System (WDS), the ICSU Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA), University of Botswana (UoB) and the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf). One of many packed meetings at the ESF 2004 The third European Social Forum was held in London, mostly at Alexandra Palace but also with events throughout the Bloomsbury area of London on the 15–17 October 2004. The organisers claimed that approximately 25,000 people took part in 500 plenaries, seminars, workshops, and cultural events, which were addressed by over 2,500 speakers. Participants came from across the continent and even from beyond the boundaries of European Union. This forum showed a marked increased in participation from minority groups such as black, Asian, Muslim, and refugee networks.

ASTMH holds an annual scientific meeting that is open to and attended by both ASTMH members and non-members from the Americas and internationally. Participants, with multiple interests in bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections and their spread, transmission and control, including researchers, clinicians, postdoctoral fellows and students gather at the annual meetings for scientific sessions, educational plenaries, workshops and poster sessions. The 67th Annual Meeting was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, October 28 - November 1, 2018. The 68th Annual Meeting will be held from November 20–24, 2019 in National Harbour, Maryland (Washington, DC area) The Society also holds an annual Intensive Update Course in Clinical Tropical Medicine and Travelers' Health.

Candidates for the European Parliament in 2009 included the journalist and former presenter of One Man and His Dog, Robin Page, and the former UK Independence Party chairman Petrina Holdsworth. The candidates pledged to serve only one term, not to employ family members, to publish their accounts and refuse invitations to "sit on committees of the European Parliament nor attend the plenaries in Brussels and Strasbourg except in the case of a vote which the party leadership regards as of critical importance to British interests". At the 2009 European election, UK First received 74,000 votes - 0.5% of the national vote - and none of its candidates were elected.

As a student of Beta Vukanović, Cvetković based her artistic beginnings on work in nature, such as French plenaries, where she worked on drawings and watercolors of landscapes in full daylight, which decisively determined her further artistic movement. During her stay in Munich, she perfected drawing and at the same time became interested in applied arts and arts and crafts. In painting, she changes by introducing a more intense color register, tailored to Munich impressionism, which remained characteristic of her later painting opus based on light and its contrasts. She was also influenced by viewing the French Impressionists at the Luxembourg Museum during her short stay in Paris.

The history of sculpture, a bronze nude of a young man with arms raised, dates back to 1918 when it was agreed to erect a monument to the Catalan volunteers killed on the battlefield under the Allied flags. The work was commissioned to Josep Clarà and its execution can be followed in the minutes of the municipal plenaries of the time. In 1923 the sculptor had already finished the monument, but the arrival to power of Primo de Rivera paralyzed the project. Francoist Spain made impossible to celebrate any public act of Catalan self-determination, so the inauguration had to be postponed for thirteen years.

The conference allowed organizations and stakeholders the opportunity to share best-practices and lessons learned and to reinvigorate the fight for better health for girls and women. Women Deliver's third global conference, Women Deliver 2013, was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from May 28–30, 2013. With more than 4,500 participants from 149 countries, the conference was the largest meeting of the decade to focus on the health and empowerment of girls and women. The program featured issues related to the health and well-being of girls and women, with a special focus on the post-2015 development framework, and more than 800 speeches and presentations were given at the six plenaries and 120 breakout sessions.

During the Arab Spring, FSTV pre-empted much of its regular non-news programming to Al Jazeera English's acclaimed reporting from Cairo's Tahrir Square and other locations. In 2008, the network piloted its "eStudio" at the National Conference for Media Reform, where it broadcast and streamed conference plenaries, workshops and special interviews conducted by Amy Goodman, Laura Flanders and Jeff Cohen. 167-8 The official view of Romanian history that these ideas represented was developed by Agitprop activists and the PMR's own History Institute, later becoming dogma when approved by party plenaries and congresses. Authoritative texts included the writings of Stalin, the "Short Course" History of the Soviet Communist Party, the decisions of the PMR's central committee and the writings and speeches of Gheorghiu-Dej. In the early years of the regime, scholars often imbued their work with an ideological tint by quoting Stalin or, to a lesser degree, Lenin. Taking their cue from a 1946 speech by Andrei Zhdanov, Răutu and Roller sought to replace the "bourgeois-reactionary" and "anti-Romanian" old historiography with dialectical materialism; the latter warned that failure to write a new history "would have left in the hands of the class enemy an ideological weapon against the working class".

More is known of the next encounter in Stockholm in April 1936, when Bishop Müller chaired a two-day meeting including bishops Brems, Mangers, and William Cobben, S.C.I., Finland's new Vicar Apostolic (1897-1985). Iceland was unrepresented. The matters discussed were to re-emerge during later Conference Plenaries: the fostering of vocations both to the priesthood and the religious life, as well as the spiritual and material well-being of candidates; the image of the Roman Catholic Church in the mass media of the day; basic principles for pastoral care; the production of fitting literature for Catholics, etc. In the compte-rendu consequently sent to the Propaganda Fide Congregation in Rome, three salient points were made: # the necessity of adapting Roman Catholic institutions to the high level of culture in the North; # the urgent necessity of establishing a minor seminary; # the fact that nothing damages Catholicism more than immoral behaviour and scandal within the Church itself.

The subcommittee met for the first time in May 1971 in Geneva, Switzerland. At this meeting agreement was reached on the first draft ISO standard for Embossed ‘Credit Cards’ and a procedure for the registration of Numeric Identifiers for Credit Card Issuers. An offer was made by the American Bankers Association to administer the issuance of these identifiers, a role they fulfill to this day; over 40 years of service. In 1979, the subcommittee became part of ISO/TC 97, Information Technology. Finally, in 1988 the subcommittee became part of the ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC 1) as ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 17 with the title, “Identification cards and credit cards.” Its first plenary as such was held in Toronto, Canada. In 1999 the title of the subcommittee was changed to its current title, “Cards and personal identification.” Since then, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 17 has had a number of plenaries held in various countries, including: Japan, Canada, Denmark, Singapore, Australia, South Africa, France, Germany, United Kingdom, China, and Spain.
