Access at street level from the Minories is via escalator, stairs or lift at the western end of the station. A pedestrian crossing connects the station with Tower Hill station, its closest London Underground connection. A narrow secondary staircase entrance at the eastern end of the platform, improved considerably in the early 2000s, descends to Mansell Street. It serves the eastern edge of the City of London financial district and development around St Katharine Docks.

In 2005, the town attempted to sell the station to a developer, but negotiations stalled in 2006. In 2010, the town again began soliciting proposals for reuse; however, the station has not received proper interior renovations, making reuse difficult. A December 2012 town report advocated for mixed-use development at the station, as well as a pedestrian crossing between the platforms. In 2012, Swampscott Station was signed as "Stanton Station" for use in the 2013 film Grown Ups 2.

The historic portion of the bridge dating to 1930 serves as the pedestrian crossing, and bike link to the East Bay Bike Path. The pedestrian span is also a part of the Washington-Rochambeau National Historic Trail.

The Castro was one of the first gay neighborhoods in the United States. Having transformed from a working-class neighborhood through the 1960s and 1970s, the Castro remains one of the most prominent symbols of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) activism and events in the world.

Traffic lights are sometimes accompanied by timers that indicate how much longer a certain phase will last. This is especially common for pedestrian crossing lights in high- traffic areas. Timers have been extensively used in India, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic but in Vietnam, they are rarely used for pedestrians. In Canada and the United States, most pedestrian signals now have countdown timers in the flashing hand symbol/"Don't Walk" phase.

During the late afternoon of July 12, 2005 a Palestinian suicide bomber approached the popular HaSharon Mall in the center of the coastal city Netanya. The suicide bomber who was wearing hidden explosives underneath his clothes, detonated himself at about 6:35 pm on a pedestrian crossing, after approaching a group of four young women, who were crossing the road. Three women were killed in the attack. An IDF corporal and another woman subsequently died of their injuries.

Like some other countries, a flashing red sequence is used prior to steady red to clear pedestrians. The immediate cause of the riot was a hit-and-run accident just before midnight on 23 June 1991 on the pedestrian crossing at Piłsudskiego and Zuzanny Morawskiej streets. A speeding luxury car driven by seventeen-year-old Roman Packowski of Romani ethnicity hit and seriously injured two young pedestrians, killing one of them. The driver fled the scene and hid from the police. He was later convinced by the Roma elders to turn himself in.

The path begins at the eastern end of Holmesglen railway station. Trail users can either cross Warrigal Rd at the traffic lights and join the trail on the southern side of the railway line or cross the railway bridge on the northern side and continue for approximately 200m to the pedestrian crossing across the railway line. The path continues until it reaches Paringa Court. It then crosses Power Avenue and continues up Railway Parade South to Huntingdale Road.

The station consists of an island platform serving two tracks. The station building is a hashigami structure where the passenger facilities (a waiting room, automatic ticket vending machines and ticket gates) are located on the second level on a bridge which links to the platform. Wellington rainbow crossing Information panel The Wellington rainbow crossing is New Zealand's second rainbow pedestrian crossing - the first being launched in Queenstown in June 2018. The Wellington crossing was installed by Wellington City Council "to show our support for the city’s LGBTQI community." It is located at the intersection of Cuba Mall and Dixon Street. Mayor of Wellington Justin Lester participated in painting the crossing, before launching it a few days later on 10 October 2018.

The bus station (rodoviária) is in Iguatemi, with direct buses to larger cities in the country and to many other destinations in the state. On the second floor are the counters for the different bus companies, and on the first floor is a small supermarket and a 24 h left luggage. Across the street is a large shopping center, Iguatemi, with a food court, connected by a pedestrian crossing. Four paved highways connect the city to the national highway system.

Mile End station has received much criticism throughout the past few years for several reasons. The station is only accessible by one underpass and pedestrian crossing which is very old and narrow. The platforms themselves are narrow, too short and feature old waiting shelters which are in bad need of replacement. The station's level crossing is long and narrow and crosses over 3 interstate lines before reaching the platforms in which passengers have to wait several minutes for trains to pass.

The pedestrian crossing was wide and the road crossing was , sufficient for two cars to pass. The bridge rose in the middle to allow small boats to pass under it; a central span could be raised and lowered using a hand winch to allow larger vessels to pass, but the process took 25 minutes. The bridge cost approximately £23,000. The bridge was officially opened for pedestrian traffic on 8 April 1925 by John Appel, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Albert.

The Italianate architecture of the Dublin and Drogheda Railway station buildings are the focal point of the street. The street was one of the boundaries of Dublin's red-light district, Monto, that existed between the 1860s - 1920s. The street links the International Financial Services Centre and the Custom House Quay across the tramlines of the LUAS where there is street level tram terminal and interchange for the trains in Dublin Connolly. Across the road over the pedestrian crossing is Talbot Street.

At Withers Way, Eltham, the trail appears to run straight ahead towards Eltham High School. In fact, turn sharp left and cross the footbridge. At this point a detour to the nearby Montsalvat can be made by crossing Main Rd at the pedestrian crossing and heading up Dalton St. Continuing, the trail narrows and twists through the park, until it comes to Eltham Lower Park. The park is famous for the Diamond Valley Railway, much-loved by generations of children (and adults).

Pont Groes Gwta (, OS grid ref.SS91837475), a two-arched 18th-century stone bridge, crosses the Afon Alun east of Castle-upon-Alun.Vale of Glamorgan County Treasures, St Brides Major, accessed 27 November 2013 Stepsau Duon stepping stones and a ford also cross the Alun, as described above, and further west the Clapper bridge provides a pedestrian crossing of the Alun at , OS grid ref.SS9099750.

The stop is located in the middle of Eglinton Avenue East, on the west side of the intersection with the southbound ramp from and to the Don Valley Parkway southbound. The stop has parallel side platforms. Access to the platforms will be via the pedestrian crossing on the west side of the signalized intersection where the ramp crosses Eglinton Avenue. Just to the west of the stop, there is a double crossover on the ramp descending to Science Centre station.

The Zero Bridge is still the first bridge downstream of the Jhelum while entering the Srinagar city and the next upstream crossing is located near Pantha Chowk in the city outskirts. At present, the old wooden structure of the bridge is being replaced by a new one, preserving the original architecture and the bridge would continue to be a pedestrian crossing and a heritage site. The vehicular traffic is currently handled by the Abdullah Bridge, located roughly 200 metres downstream.

This is good in that the loop does not thus produce very many "false positive" triggers (say, for example, by a pedestrian crossing the loop with a pocket full of loose metal change) but it sometimes also means that bicycles, scooters, and motorcycles stopped at such intersections may never be detected by them (and therefore risk being ignored by the switch/signal). On 28.October 2012 Ivana Lovrić was involved in car accitdent. Police report states: 28-year-old Ivana Lovrić driver of Opel Corsa in Zagreb's Dankovecka Street ran into a 33-year-old woman crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing at the intersection with Svetojakobska Street. The report also said that the woman was thrown away on the westbound lane while the Ivana Lovrić continued driving without stopping, without providing the pedestrian with adequate assistance or notifying ambulance and police officers.

The A1082 (Holway Road) is a link from the A148 King’s Lynn to Cromer road to the town centre of Sheringham which is north from this junction. It also joins the A149 King’s Lynn to Great Yarmouth road to the A148, providing an alternative route for easterly drivers on the A149, around the town centre of Cromer, whose one way system snarls up in the summer. ¾ of the length of the A1082 is a speed Limit. There is one controlled pedestrian crossing.

Previously, the island platform was accessible to passengers via a pedestrian crossing over the tracks. A sliding barrier between the tracks was opened before the arrival of a train on platform 2, and again after the train left, with a clear announcement by the station staff on duty—similar to the procedure now used in Waldkirch, but carried out manually. The position of the crossing can still be seen today (2018) from the corrugated edge on platform 2 opposite the station building.

In California, United States near the Mexican border, there are warning signs showing a running family. This is to warn motorists to look out for illegal immigrants who try to escape authorities by running through freeway traffic.

A less intrusive table in Auckland, New Zealand, which sacrifices some height and visual effect for integration into a high-quality road finish area. Note that part of the traffic calming effect is reached here via rough cobble stones. A speed table (or flat top hump or raised pedestrian crossing) is designed as a long speed hump with a flat section in the middle. Speed tables are generally long enough for the entire wheelbase of a passenger car to rest on top.

Eastwood Railway Station served the village of Eastwood in the civil parish of Todmorden, West Yorkshire, England. The station opened with the line on New Years Day 1841 and was closed on 3 December 1951 by British Railways. Retaining walls in the cliff above the site, together with a substantial road access ramp, and the remains of adjacent coal drops can still be seen. In addition, the former vehicle-size level crossing has survived in reduced form, as a pedestrian crossing.

Guerrilla crosswalks are created by modifying existing pedestrian crossing or painting new crosswalk lines. This is done without jurisdictional approval and with the intent of improving pedestrian and other non-automobile safety. These interventions are a common strategy within tactical urbanism, a type of low- cost, often temporary change to the built environment intended to improve local livability. Guerilla crosswalks have been noted in news articles since at least 2009 and have become more well known as an urban strategy in recent years.

Middle Road Bridge Sherway Drive is a residential street in the southwest area of the city, running east off Dixie Rd to the Etobicoke Creek. It was once part of the course of The Middle Road, which later became the QEW. It is noted for the concrete bowstring bridge that crosses the creek. The bridge is named the Middle Road Bridge (also known as the Sherway Drive Bridge), and was built in 1908, and carried only one lane of traffic, and today is strictly a pedestrian crossing.

After Manning Drive, the freeway widens to six lanes and continues clockwise through northeast Edmonton past 153 Avenue to a second crossing of the North Saskatchewan River. Four lanes cross the river southbound and three northbound on bridges. A pedestrian crossing was again included; it is slung underneath the southbound bridge and ties into the existing pathway system. The seven lane freeway rises from the river valley into the Clover Bar area, crossing Aurum Road to a major interchange at Yellowhead Trail, crossing into Strathcona County.

Boom barriers replaced hand gates at the High Street level crossing in 1963. On 8 May 1988, the former signal box and interlocked frame were abolished. Also abolished were crossovers, formerly located at the Up and Down ends of the station, and the double line block system between Reservoir and Keon Park, which was replaced with automatic three position signalling. Pedestrian boom barriers were also provided at the pedestrian crossing, located at the Down end of the station, and at the High Street level crossing.

The former is usually preferred, as it stands out more conspicuously against the dark pavement. Some pedestrian crossings accompany a traffic signal to make vehicles stop at regular intervals so pedestrians can cross. Some countries have "intelligent" pedestrian signals, where the pedestrian must push a button in order to assert his intention to cross. In some countries, approaching traffic is monitored by radar or by electromagnetic sensors buried in the road surface, and the pedestrian crossing lights are set to red if a speed infringement is detected.

Cagthorpe is suburb of the town of Horncastle, Lincolnshire, England. It is south of, and separated from, the historic town centre by the re-aligned River Waring and the A158 (Jubilee Way). Cagthorpe is accessible by vehicle only from The Wong and Hopton Street. It is accessible on foot from Coronation Walk which runs to the town Swimming Pool, across a footbridge over the disused Horncastle Navigation Canal, and onto West Street, and from St. Mary's Square across the pedestrian crossing that crosses Jubilee Way.

Taranaki Daily News The BMX track is the latest addition to the Bell Block cycle park, which includes a 1.75 km closed road circuit with two separate 1 km loops and a 333-meter velodrome. The cycle park also has a collection of tracks for children including a miniature town route with traffic lights, a roundabout, railway crossing, accessible car parks, pedestrian crossing and speed bumps, all scaled down to 60 per cent of the original size, to help teach children safety while cycling.

The route begins in the Maritime Quarter near the Swansea Bay barrage. Once across the road, the route turns right over the Quay Parade bridge. Once over the bridge, there is an immediate left turn into a dedicated path which follows the west bank of the River Tawe as far as the Pentre-Chwyth traffic junction, in the White Rock area.

Bentleigh has two railway stations, Bentleigh and Patterson; the former is the end of zone 1 on the Frankston train line.Frankston line map The level crossing at Bentleigh railway station was upgraded in 2006 at a cost of A$1.2 million and included sirens as well as bells, red man lights, 'Another Train is Coming' lights and latches on the emergency exit.Bentleigh pedestrian crossing trial site fully operational (Victorian Government media release) . Retrieved 11 July 2008 This was after several fatal accidents at the crossing involving pedestrians.

The stop will have far-side platforms with access to each platform from the adjacent north/south pedestrian crossing at the signalized intersection. This staggered configuration means the westbound platform will be located west of the intersection, and the eastbound platform will be situated east of the intersection. , Metrolinx says these plans are still subject to change. During the planning stages for Line 5 Eglinton, the station was given the working name "Warden" the same as for the pre-existing Warden station on Line 2 Bloor–Danforth.

The southern half of this proposed spur was built, however. The aborted section, from the Expressway to Richmond Avenue, has become a part of the Staten Island Greenbelt, one of New York City's public parks. A ramp stub of an interchange on the expressway, cut into the hills of Todt Hill, still exists. Part of the trail system of the Greenbelt was using the abandoned overpass bridge as pedestrian crossing of the Expressway up until 2013, when it was dismantled for lane widening improvements.

Village store Langworth had a village store with a full time post office until the 2008/2009 post office closures. The village organised a campaign to keep it open, this included a web campaign (www.savelangworthpostoffice.co.uk no longer online) and direct action including a protest in front of the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and a pedestrian crossing protest which caused long tailbacks on the A158. This all failed and Post office Ltd closed the Langworth branch, resulting in the village store closing.

On the 21st of April 1982, a British Railways Class 508 train running the 06:34 service from London Waterloo to Shepperton crashed, demolishing barriers and a wall. The train also slid into some new pedestrian crossing lights, rendering them unusable. The crash was initially believed to be the result of braking tests the previous night, which involved applying grease to the tracks, and that the grease may not have been sufficiently cleaned off, however it was later found that the train's brakes were faulty.

Where roads cross above the parkway, particularly north of State Road 52, the trail briefly strays from the parkway, allowing users to cross the intersecting road at-grade. The remains of a bridge can still be seen at the pedestrian crossing at that location (next to the entrance of Dobbie's Garden Centre) . The station was converted to a two-room and kitchen houseCanadian Railways Magazine (1955) before being dismantled by vandals in the late 1960s. The line through Dykebar from Blackbyres to Paisley East goods closed on 31 December 1960. Railway photographer Norris Forrest visited the area in February 1960 taking pictures of the station platform, a passenger shelter and a train.

A British zebra crossing The British Government's Road Research Laboratory's (RRL) Traffic and Safety Division was established at Langley, near Slough in 1946. The division was soon tasked with developing a new type of pedestrian crossing that would be visible in all weather conditions. These had previously been marked only by lines of metal studs across the road and poles on the footway at either side. Several different crossings were trialled in Slough from 1951 with the first zebra crossing being laid out on 31 October.

Barn (also known as Barn Halt) was a station located in the town of Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland. At one time it was part of a tight cluster of stations in the Carrickfergus area, each located one minute from the other. The station closed in 1977 when Northern Ireland Railways services were cut back. All remnants of the station were cleared away during track re-laying in 1997, however its old footbridge still remains in use as a pedestrian crossing over the railway line..

After graduating from Elam, Szirmay won the Smirnoff Sculpture Award (1969) for a monumental outdoor piece rendered in curved, polished aluminium in the busy centre of Newmarket, Auckland. This work was fabricated to her instructions by Roskill Sheet Metal Works. This work represented a radical move for public art in Auckland, and it was the first large abstract work to be commissioned for the city. It is located beside Lumsden Green, close to the Khyber Pass – Broadway intersection at Newmarket, counterpoised with Virginia King's Sliver across the pedestrian crossing.

The second shelter across the tracks The Nassau Tower and substation in front of the pedestrian crossing. Mineola station was originally built on the south side of the tracks in 1837 as "Branch station", then later renamed "Hempstead Branch station" when the Long Island Railroad was expanded to Hicksville. The station was renovated in June 1872, but a second depot was built between May and June 1883. This station was razed in 1923, and the third one was relocated to the north side of the tracks on September 22, 1923.

Replacing the bridge instead of repairing it would have cost between $24 and $45 million. Without major repairs, engineers had given the bridge a 20 year life expectancy (either as a vehicle or a pedestrian crossing). The job of sandblasting the bridge to bare metal and re-painting it was made very expensive by the need to keep all sandblasting debris out of the river as the existing paint is lead-based. The bridge's arches were equipped with several series of decorative LED lights in the summer of 2007.

In 1973, they partnered with Mexico's National Housing Fund for Workers (INFONAVIT) and created several houses and neighborhoods in Nuevo León. In 1978, Grupo Garza Ponce was responsible for the construction of the Abastos Estrella market in Monterrey. Two years later, they constructed the Galerías Monterrey, a major retail shop in the city.

South Harbor is a station on the RTA Waterfront Line in Cleveland, Ohio. It is the northern terminus of the Waterfront Line and the terminus of the Blue and Green Lines. The station is located in a rather isolated setting on the southeast side of the Cleveland Municipal Parking Lot (locally known as the "Muny Lot"), and is generally only useful to access the parking areas. Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport is relatively close to the station, but to reach the airport one must cross the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway, and there is no pedestrian crossing.

Ireland maintains a jaywalking law, which requires a pedestrian to use a pedestrian crossing if they are within of one. When crossing a road, pedestrians are advised to wait until it is safe to cross. Vehicles should give way to the pedestrian who uses a zebra crossing. Irish children are taught the Road Safety Authority safe cross code in schools where it teaches them to stop, listen, and look out for any incoming traffic whilst crossing a road and only cross a road if safe to do so.

The current bridge was built in 1964. A girder bridge, it is the only bridge over the river for a span of 21 miles, as Linwood's bridge is 10 miles west and Shawnee's K-7 Highway Bridge is 11 miles to the east. The bridge runs concurrent with Leavenworth County Highway 2 and S. Wyandotte Street.

As of October 2019, Klæbo has over 102,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, and totals over 12 million views from over 100 videos. He was previously part of Norway's elite sprint team. As of mid 2019, he is part of Norway's men's elite allround team. Klæbo was given a non-custodial prison sentence of 16 days and a fine of NOK 10,000 by Sør- Trøndelag district court on 5 March 2019, following a road traffic accident on 12 December 2018, where he collided with a stationary car at a pedestrian crossing.

The Singapore Romanian diplomat incident occurred on 15 December 2009, when three pedestrians were struck in a hit-and-run in the Singapore suburb of Bukit Panjang. The vehicle, a black Audi A6 bearing diplomatic license plates, was later identified as being driven by Dr Silviu Ionescu, at the time Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Romanian Embassy in Singapore. At approximately 3 am, the vehicle ran two red lights and hit the pedestrians on a pedestrian crossing, injuring two and killing one. Approximately 40 minutes after the incident, Ionescu reported the vehicle as being stolen.

Protests resumed at the University of Cape Town at the start of the academic year on 15 February 2016, when members of the Rhodes Must Fall movement constructed a shack at a heavily used pedestrian crossing and road at the base of the Jameson Steps on the university's main campus. The shack was set up to protest what some students perceived as a lack of housing for black students and unfairness in the allocation of student housing. In 2017, it was addressed that the station can not facilitate trains longer than five cars in length. This is a problem on AFL game days when trains of six carriages must overhang the platform. DPTI have not acted further on the issue and the platform is unlikely to be extended in the near future however it would be preferable for the better function of this station. As of the upgrades to the station in 2014, the platform was slightly shortened due to the new underpass being constructed at the North end of the station where a ground level pedestrian crossing formerly sat.

Ponce de Leon Avenue in the City of Atlanta is included in the Ponce/Moreland Corridors Plan as part of the city's comprehensive development plan. , the Georgia Department of Transportation has decided to begin the design of safety improvements for pedestrians on the two-mile stretch of Ponce between Piedmont and N. Highland/Moreland. Changes proposed include the conversion of an eastbound traffic lane into a two-way left-turn lane and bike lanes in both directions. The land would include intermittent traffic islands and "HAWK" pedestrian crossing signals at selected crosswalks where no traffic signals currently exist.

In New Zealand, a school crossing patrol, officially called a School Traffic Safety Team, but more commonly known as a School Patrol or Road Patrol, was first introduced in 1931 and has been acknowledged in New Zealand legislation since 1944. Students and supervising teachers are in charge of running the patrols each day, with students being trained each year by the New Zealand Police. Around 950 school patrols operate nationally. The two students on duty control and stop the flow of vehicles approaching a pedestrian crossing (or school crossing point) from either direction allowing school students to safely cross the road.

Because of the lack of the standard 100 km/h rural speed limit and high traffic volumes, Victoria Police maintain a high level of patrol and vigilance. The highway continues east of Warburton as Woods Point Road (C511) With the introduction of traffic lights in Seville, as well as the reduction of speed limits and addition of a greater number of speed zones, the Warburton Highway is becoming over congested during peak times. Evidence of this can be seen during any weekday afternoon. Outbound traffic approaching a pedestrian crossing in Seville often queues up to 1.1 km.

Newer bridges later carried most of the north–south traffic and, after a concrete bridge bypassed the Drift Creek Bridge in the 1960s, Lincoln County preserved it as a pedestrian crossing and a monument to 19th-century pioneers. On a clear summer day on 13 August 2002, a nine-year-old girl crossing Huopalahdentie road in a pedestrian crossing was run over by a car and killed. A natural form of traffic calming, sneckdowns show where a street can potentially be narrowed to slow motor vehicle speeds and shorten pedestrian crossing distances. Coined by Streetsblog founder Aaron Naparstek, popularized by Streetfilms director Clarence Eckerson, Jr. and spread widely via social media, the term first appeared on Twitter on January 2, 2014 at 11:19pm EST. Other Twitter hashtags that have been used to describe snow-based traffic-calming measures include #plowza, #slushdown, #snovered and #snowspace.

The Chords Bridge is a cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge designed by the Spanish architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava, built for the light rail, close to the most frequently used entrance to Jerusalem, in the neighborhood of Kiryat Moshe. The bridge carries the trams in a grade separated manner over a busy road intersection. Incorporated in the bridge is a glass-sided pedestrian crossing, enabling pedestrians to cross unimpeded from the Kiryat Moshe area to the Central Bus Station grounds. The bridge, which cost about $70 million (NIS 246 million), was inaugurated on June 25, 2008.

In May 2006, Wilson was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Leeds. The two covered Manhattan with wheat paste stickers, which they posted on the back of hundreds of pedestrian crossing signals. On these stickers, which were essentially 8 ½ by 11 white pieces of paper, adhered with wheat paste, the two printed cryptic messages in bold, black letters: "Lousy Kid Revs," "Cost Fucked Madonna," "Zookeeper Revs." The two were notorious for painting their tags in sprawling block letters on the broadsides of buildings or any other surface deemed optimal. On 21 February 2010, EMI stated it planned to keep the studio and was looking for an investor to help finance a "revitalization" project. Meanwhile, the British government declared Abbey Road Studios a Grade II listed building which protected it from major alteration. After construction of the South Road Superway and the Torrens-to-Torrens lowered motorway, this section of road was left with two traffic light intersections (including Regency Road), a controlled pedestrian crossing, and access to local side streets. It was reported in May 2017 that completion of this section would cost $400 million, with construction to begin at the start of 2019 and be completed by the middle of 2022. This would complete 47 km of freeway from Gawler to the River Torrens. The da Vinci Bridge, completed in 2001, serves as a pedestrian crossing over highway E18 in Ås, approximately from Oslo. It was built from large prefabricated glulam sections moved in place by cranes, with three parabolic arches in the main span: a central arch supporting the pathway and two stabilizing arches flanking it. The main span is and the bridge is long, overall at a total cost of approximately 12 million Norwegian kroner. The completed da Vinci Bridge was built wide enough to allow four lanes of traffic underneath, but requirements for vertical clearance have increased and adding lanes of traffic would require lowering the road.

The northern platform, adjacent to the current single track line to Royal Portbury Dock, will not be reinstated, however the track will be retained for freight trains. The two tracks will have a junction east of the station. Initial plans for the station were for access to be from Monmouth Road, which runs parallel to the railway, north of the line. There was to be a fully accessible footbridge across the line, with both ramp and stairs, as well as a pedestrian crossing across Monmouth Road and a lit 50-space car park on the old goods yard at the eastern end of Monmouth Road.

In 2003, Gökçek tried to ban the pedestrian crossing in Ankara's busiest crossroads, demanding that pedestrians walk through the underpasses. Activists protested the city center being closed off completely from pedestrians and declared that the mayor unilaterally taking such a decision was against the law. Gökçek announced that he would call for a referendum; a court eventually found the mayor's proposal unlawful on the basis that Gökçek had bused in supporters from Ankara Province's rural areas to vote in favor of his pedestrian ban. The closing of the 1889 swing bridge to automotive traffic turned Main Street, River Edge, into a dead-end in front of the Steuben House. Old New Bridge Road (on the boundary between New Milford and Teaneck) likewise became a dead end. The Army Corps of Engineers planned to destroy the old bridge as soon as the new one was completed. The Bergen County Historical Society and the Dumont Women's Club successfully petitioned to keep the historic span for a pedestrian crossing. Colonel John T. O’Neill, of the Army Corps of Engineers, yielded to Freeholder Walter M. Neill, who promised that Bergen County would henceforth maintain the old bridge, if it were spared.

The East Marsh Street link provided a direct link to Hainton Square and the Freeman Street shopping area and routed traffic away from the circuitous existing route which used Victoria Street, Pasture Street, Robinson Street East and East Marsh Street. This scheme required the construction of a subway beneath a live railway line in very poor ground and was completed just prior to the demise of Humberside County Council. The car hit a garbage truck from side on, overturning it, and then plowed into the many cyclists and pedestrians on the pedestrian crossing. Following the accident, rather than immediately phoning the police, Iizuka phoned his son, telling him that the accelerator wouldn't come back, and that he had hit numerous people. He had been weaving amongst traffic, changing lanes three times just before the accident in order to overtake other vehicles.

The junction was created as part of the construction of the Barnet Bypass, which opened in 1928, with future provision for the North Circular. It was designed as a dual carriageway junction, but due to the urban sprawl of London already surrounding it, meant that by the 1950s it had a 30 mph speed limit, traffic lights and pedestrian crossings. In 1967, the junction was widened from two to three lanes in each direction, which remains the basic configuration today. In October 2011, Britain's first "hands free" pedestrian crossing was installed at the junction, so that the local Jewish community did not have to use electricity or operate machinery on the Sabbath.

In the early 2000s the station was the subject of heavy work to platforms and the tracks in order to adapt it to modern standards: the pedestrian crossing over the track was replaced by a tunnel with lift, renovated lighting and signs and the passenger building was repainted. The ticket office was closed, replaced by automatic ticket machines, which have been criticized for their sometimes poor operation. The ticket machines were replaced in June 2009 with two more functional and multilingual ticket machines. Despite these works, the modernisation is not yet complete, the waiting shelter (where the foundations were dug for) or the scheduled stop for buses have yet to be built.

In 2017, the University announced plans for a new Veterans Care Center on campus. Located in the Psychological Services Center on campus, the Veterans Care Center "will address the mental health needs of veterans, regardless of era, gender, discharge status or service connection." In 2019, the University opened the Hunter Harrison Memorial Bridge, providing for the first time in school history a pedestrian crossing that connects the main campus and the campus areas south of the Norfolk-Southern railroad with uninterrupted access. This bridge connects to the new Southern Parking Garage, as well as the new $30 million Student Recreation & Fitness Center that began construction in October 2019, expanding the area of the campus south of the railroad tracks.

Prior to July 2010, the eleven intersections between 46th Street and 56th Street lacked the city's usual pedestrian crossing signals and overhead gantry-mounted traffic lights, because the railroad tunnel ceiling, which is also the street, was not thick enough for their poles' foundations. The A35 trunk road between Honiton and Southampton passes through Chideock, which in 1997 was the first village in Britain to have two speed cameras installed in response to perceived excessive speed. The National Trust refused permission for a prospective bypass over land it owns to the north of Golden Cap, citing its importance as an area of natural beauty. On 4 May 2010 a protest against the lack of a bypass was initiated by some residents and involved constant operation of a pedestrian crossing at the centre of the village for one hour's duration every week. This campaign continued for a year and may result in restrictions on heavy goods vehicles in the village.

Features that assist people with visual impairments include braille signs and tactile paving to allow a user with a cane to easily identify stairways, train platforms, and similar areas that could pose a physical danger to anyone who has a visual impairment. Urban design features that may appear to be simple conveniences for persons without disabilities are often essential to anyone who has a disability. The loss of these features presents a significant barrier. For example, sometimes a lack of prompt snow-clearing on sidewalks of major Canadian city streets means that wheelchair and walker users cannot reach pedestrian crossing buttons on crosswalk posts, due to snow bank accumulation around the posts, making the crossing buttons inaccessible.

As of April 2013, parking includes about 60 spaces adjacent to the tracks along River Road, and 170 spaces in the River Park II lot; the latter lot has been shrinking in size due to the expansion of a private school (AIM Academy) which leased most of the River Park II complex beginning in 2011. The station building on the outbound side is leased to an outside party and does not currently sell tickets. There is a shelter on the inbound side; connecting the two platforms is an official pedestrian crossing. Miquon is expected to become a temporary turnback point for trains at times when the line is flooded by the Schuylkill River around Spring Mill and Conshohocken.

The original station building was a substantial stone affair on Westgate, from where passengers had to cross the tracks on a level pedestrian crossing to access the platform. At the end of the 19th century, this situation was remedied by giving the station access to Main Street and building a temporary wooden station building there with direct access to the platform. A footbridge at a busy intersection in China Footbridges or pedestrian tunnels may be used in lieu of crosswalks at very busy intersections as well as at locations where limited-access roads and controlled-access highways must be crossed. They can also be beneficial in locations where the sidewalk or pedestrian path naturally ascends or descends to a different level than the intersection itself, and the natural "desire line" leads to a footbridge or tunnel, respectively. However, pedestrian bridges are ineffective in most locations; due to their expense, they are typically spaced far apart. However, in instances of the latter case, such as New York City's, the buttons were simply deactivated when traffic signals were updated to automatically include pedestrian phases as part of every signal cycle. In such instances these buttons may be removed during future updates to the pedestrian signals. In the United Kingdom, pressing a button at a standalone pedestrian crossing that is unconnected to a junction will turn a traffic light red immediately, but this is not necessarily the case at a junction. Sometimes, call buttons work only at some intersections, at certain times of day, or certain periods of the year, such as in New York City or in Boston, Massachusetts.

A pelican crossing in England A pelican crossing (previously pelicon crossing, which stood for "pedestrian light controlled crossing") is a type of pedestrian crossing, which features a pair of poles each with a standard set of traffic lights facing oncoming traffic, a push button and two illuminated, coloured pictograms facing the pedestrian from across the road. These are a red, stationary person to indicate that it is not safe to cross, and a green, walking person to indicate that it is safe to do so. Pelican crossings also provide non-visual indication that it is safe to cross, such as a beep, vibrating button or tactile rotating cone in order to assist visually impaired pedestrians.

Vilkkumaa's fifth studio album Superpallo (Bouncy Ball) was released in October 2008\. Selling gold with 19,000 copies and spawning three singles, "Suojatiellä" (On the Pedestrian Crossing), "Luokkakokous" (Class Reunion) and "Mä haluun naimisiin" (I Wanna Get Married), the album did not meet with as much success as the previous studio albums, though still debuting at number one on the Albums Chart. The Eudora Kaw River Bridge is an automobile and pedestrian crossing of the Kansas River located just north of Eudora, Kansas. A girder bridge, it is the first bridge over the river for almost four miles, as the Highway 2 Bridge is far off to the east. The bridge runs concurrent with Leavenworth County's County Road 1 and Douglas County's County Road 1061 and the city of Eudora is just south of the bridge. The two lane bridge has a span of 1,360 feet(17 July 2009). Crews to Work on Deck of Kansas River Bridge North of Eudora, Lawrence Journal-World and was opened in 1965, built at a cost of $746,000.

The station now has two sidings with a common island platform and two sidings ending to the north without platforms. The only access to the platform is via a pedestrian crossing over the eastern track, which is protected by a barrier at the northern end of the platform, directly opposite the bus stop. As the current Boardman Bridge does not have sidewalks or shoulders, this would allow for safe pedestrian crossing between Route 7 and the Sega Meadows Trail and future New Milford River Trail. Plans for reopening the bridge will include removing the vegetation that is growing on and around it, masonry repair of the abutments and wing walls, replacing the unsafe deck with a timber decking, repairing and replacing the structural components, and repainting it.

State road rules in the United States usually require a driver to yield the right of way to a pedestrian crossing a road when the pedestrian crosses at a marked crosswalk or an unmarked crosswalk. Unmarked crosswalks generally exist as the logical extensions of sidewalks at intersections with approximately right angles. State codes often permit pedestrians to use roads that are not controlled access facilities and without sidewalks but such use is usually regulated.

Before the establishment of Westwood station, the station itself was the site of a junction of two freight sidings in Lynbrook that existed only in 1924 both of which were abandoned in September of that year. The line was electrified on October 19, 1926 and the station itself was established in September 1929. The small station house had a single platform on the Malverne side, as well as an un-gated pedestrian crossing, and a pedestrian bridge over the tracks which existed only until 1938.February 23, 1946 view of Westwood Station House in Malverne from across the tracks in Lynbrook, by William Gilligan (TrainsAreFun) By 1955, the station house was gutted, leaving only the roof and the frame, thus transforming it into an open shelter.

Banff Trail station is a CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It serves the Northwest Line (Route 201) and opened on September 7, 1987 as part of the original line. It is located on the exclusive LRT right of way on the east side of Banff Trail NW, 4.1 km northwest of the 7 Avenue & 9 Street SW interlocking. The station consists of two side-loading platforms with grade-level access from a pedestrian crossing of the tracks at the northern end of the station. The station is located east of the McMahon Stadium (which features 780 spaces available for commuters), Burns Stadium, and the Motel Village district, and north-east of the junction of Crowchild Trail and the Trans-Canada Highway.

Following the Victorian State Coroner's investigation into the death of Gould, after a cyclist from the Hellride bunch failed to stop at a pedestrian crossing when the traffic light was red and collided with him, a review of the literature on cyclists who ride in large groups or bunches on public roads was commissioned. The research was released by Monash University Accident Research Centre in January 2009. The 2006 fatality, along with other incidents involving cyclists, has led to the introduction of new "culpable cycling" laws by the Victorian State Government. The Road Legislation Amendment Bill 2009 introduces new penalties for cyclists who cause death or injury in a collision, for failing to stop and render assistance and for "dangerous and careless riding".

In 1976, the City of Winnipeg signed an agreement with private developers to open an underground concourse linking shopping malls under the four corner properties.Winnipeg Square This included a 40-year deal to permanently close the pedestrian crossings at the intersection, which street works were completed around 1978."The city agrees that it will not consent to any application for the construction of a pedestrian crossing over or under any street, avenue or other roadway within that portion of the city [within a block of Portage and Main] unless the applicant for such a crossing provides a direct connection between the proposed crossing and the Concourse." Agreement quoted in Consideration of the Report of the Committee on Works and Operations , December 16, 1976, p 290.

There was a road level crossing at the station which closed in 1966/7, with the pedestrian crossing remaining. In the early 1970s, the former goods yard with its shed, to the north of the station, whose sidings were recovered in September 1967, was redeveloped as a housing estate. Though built as double track (and used by expresses to and from Scotland from 1880), the line to the north was singled by British Rail in 1973 as part of the East Lancashire line resignalling scheme. Some of the line southwards toward Bolton was also reduced to single track in 1985 (again due to signalling modernisation work), though the double track portion through the station was retained to act as a passing loop.

The 1999 decision to combine the Waterfront and Washington Street projects as the Silver Line resulted in the addition of a southern segment, likely using the same abandoned streetcar tunnel as had been proposed a decade before. A new underground station would have been built under Tremont Street, connecting to the existing (NEMC) station, with a portal to Washington Street just north of Oak Street. In April 2000, the MBTA adjusted the alignment to use Boylston Street instead of Avenue de Lafayette and Avery Street, with side platforms at the stations. The new alignment would conflict less with development, provide a straighter route, avoid the need for a pedestrian crossing and a lengthy pedestrian tunnel at Chinatown, and move the Boylston loop away from the Burying Ground.

In 2015, it was announced work would start on the conversion of the then-55-year-old portion of US 183 from US 290 to SH 71 into a three-to-five-lane tollway. The traffic lights at 51st Street, Techni Center Drive, Bolm Road (formerly a diamond interchange), Vargas Road, and Thompson Lane were all removed. In addition to these changes, an interchange at Patton Avenue is being constructed, the pedestrian crossing bridge just south of Manor Road will be upgraded, and Montopolis Bridge was decommissioned in favor of a new truss bridge that will serve as a pedestrian walkway, no longer open to motorized traffic. Construction began in early 2016 with expected completion in late 2019 or early 2020.

Extending the Trillium Line across the Ottawa River into Gatineau across the Prince of Wales Bridge had been proposed as early as the original pilot project proposal. The city's certificate of fitness for the Trillium Line, issued by the Canadian Transportation Authority in 2001, indicates that it operates between the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, despite the line never having actually operated across the river. The city even considered converting the rail bridge into a pedestrian crossing at one point. When the city announced the contract awards for Stage 2, it also presented a map of the O-Train network that included proposed extensions that would be a part of a Stage 3 phase, including extensions to Kanata, Barrhaven, and Gatineau.

The Euro key on a pedestrian crossing in Vienna Euro key (German: Euroschlüssel) is a locking system which enables people with physical disabilities to access handicapped facilities free of charge. For example handicapped elevators and ramps, public toilets at motorways, train stations, in pedestrian zones, shopping centers, museums or public authorities etc. It has been introduced in 1986 by the CBF Darmstadt - Club Behinderter und Freunde in Darmstadt and environs. Euro key is now widely used throughout European countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Lichtenstein, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK. In Europe the total number of Euro key locks is over 100 000, in US it's about 350, in Turkey it's about 50.

Malate Church and frontage (now Plaza Rajah Sulayman) in 1831 In Spanish colonial times, the plaza was a simple open field located between the shores of Manila Bay and the Malate Church, ending at a beach which used to be a popular bathing area. However, during American rule, the plaza was cut off from the coastline due to land reclamation works undertaken for the construction of Roxas Boulevard. The plaza was last renovated in 2002, during the administration of Lito Atienza, as part of a citywide urban beautification program aimed at making Malate a prime tourist area, which involved the installation of a new dancing fountain. A large signaled pedestrian crossing connects the plaza to the Baywalk, which has been criticized for worsening traffic along Roxas Boulevard.

The trail then continues via Markham Reserve to Warrigal Road. An underpass of Warrigal Road, completed in August 2011, now allows easy access to the path on the east side of Warrigal Road, at the north side of the creek. The path continues northeast through Ashwood Reserve to High Street Road, which crossed with the aid of a small traffic island, and then north (near Ashwood College) near Gardiners Reserve to Highbury Road. A pedestrian crossing passes over the road, and after crossing the creek on the road bridge the path continues north through Local History Park in Burwood to the intersection of McIntyre Street, Elgar Road, and Burwood Highway, near Presbyterian Ladies' College and the Burwood Campus of Deakin University.

The building is no longer used for rail operations and is instead used for private purposes; it gives the impression of being neglected. It is not a listed building. The station formerly had a roofed platform next to the station building (platform 1) and a narrow one-sided platform next to track 2, which was reached by a pedestrian crossing over the track from platform 1, which was protected only by the train dispatcher. With the rebuilding of the station as a Haltepunkt (a “halt”, that is not having points) for passenger trains and the associated dismantling of platforms and trackwork, the platform next to the station building still exists but is no longer used, while the former island platform has been removed entirely.

A Swanage branch train in 1966 The current station opened in 1887, replacing the original station which opened in 1847 and was sited east of what is now only a pedestrian crossing. This station had two bay platforms which served the branch line to Swanage from 1885 until 1972, when the branch closed. The branch line to Swanage is now the preserved Swanage Railway, a steam locomotive operated heritage railway that currently operates between Swanage and a Park and Ride site at Norden just north of Corfe Castle. The rail connection between the Swanage Railway and the Network Rail tracks at Worgret Junction has been restored,"Project Wareham / The Purbeck Line"Swanage Railway website restoring a connection with the National Rail network.

Constable Care commenced planning in late 2012 to build and operate a road and transport safety experiential learning centre for children aged 4–11 years at its site in Maylands. Thanks to the support of Lotterywest and a number of corporate sponsors, the 3,500 sqm centre was completed and opened in July 2017 and now provides a fully functioning urban streetscape for practical bike and pedestrian skills education. The centre includes working traffic signalling, rail crossing, school zone and scale buildings, a bus and train, a rail platform and working pedestrian crossing. It also incorporates an augmented reality experience on iPad minis that enables children to identify and resolve pedestrian, bike and public transport safety risks overlaid on the environment, with results tracked in real time and linked to WA curriculum education outcomes.

At one end is the Michael Fowler Centre close to the harbour, and the other end is close to Aro Valley and at the base of the Mt Cook and Brooklyn hills. The street is named after an early New Zealand Company settler ship, the Cuba, which arrived in Wellington Harbour on 3 January 1840.

An early traffic engineer Henry Barnes, who served as Commissioner of Traffic in many cities including Baltimore, Maryland and New York City, developed coordinated traffic signal timings, so that large amounts of traffic could be accommodated on major traffic arterials. Traffic signal timing is a very complex topic. For example timing a 'WALK' signal for a wide pedestrian crossing and slower pedestrians (for example the elderly) could result in very long waits for vehicles, and thus increases the likelihood of cars running the light, which could potentially cause accidents. Therefore, optimizing the safety of intersections involves multiple factors like street width, lane width, number of intersecting streets, availability of electricity for a signal, number of cars per unit of time and even/uneven nature of flow, number and type of pedestrians, and many other factors.

The only dual-carriageway section between the M1 and Clifton next to the power station As of 2007 the section between the M1 motorway and Nottingham city centre required a major upgrade as it could no longer cope with the volumes of traffic that used it. From the morning peak until around 1100am, the traffic could often back up from the Nottingham Trent University Clifton campus right the way back to the Ratcliffe on Soar power station adding around 10 to 15 minutes to the journey time along this route. The problems are worse in term time where the light controlled pedestrian crossing at the university can stop traffic so often that the long tailbacks described are caused. There is a marked difference to the levels of traffic on this section outside term time.

In 1840, Brickfields Free School held its last lessons and in September 1841, its pupils and staff moved to a new purpose-built premises at Saint Luke’s Cross. The new school, which had space for many more students was called St. Patrick's School and in a fundraising letter written at the time of opening the school manager, Rev. Patrick William Coffey, described the new building as having two floors, with the boys using the upper floor and entering the building from the Ballyhooly Road (just above where the pedestrian crossing is now) and the girls using the lower floor and entering from Alexandra Road. Coffey described the interior as having been kitted out with desks, blackboards, lockers, and two fireplaces. At the time of its opening Saint Patrick's School had 300 pupils on the books, 174 boys and 126 girls.

The accident site At 12:25 p.m., April 19, 2019, Kozo Iizuka, the 87-year-old male driver of a Toyota Prius, and the retired Head of the Industrial Science and Technology Agency of the former Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), caused a traffic accident at an intersection near Tokyo Metro Higashi-Ikebukuro Station in the Higashi Ikebukuro district of Toshima ward, Tokyo. The car he was driving ran red traffic lights, and hit several people on a pedestrian crossing, killing two (a mother and daughter) and injuring 12, including the driver himself and his wife, who was in the front passenger seat. Iizuka, the driver, ran two red traffic lights, and the car's data recorder showed no record of him using the brake at any point during the incident.

On 23 December 1895 the Russian exile and anarchist Sergey Stepnyak-Kravchinsky (usually known as Stepniak) was killed by a train on the Hammersmith branch at Woodstock Road; there was a pedestrian crossing there, and the site later became the Woodstock Road station. He was walking from his house in Woodstock Road to resume a conference in Shepherds Bush, a moderately short walk. Climbing the stile at the crossing, he seems not to have heard the approaching North London Railway passenger train, and he was run over by it and died of injuries. The following day the Times newspaperThe Times newspaper, 24 December 1895; original orthography maintained reported > The accident took place between 10 and 11 o’clock in the morning at a point > about three-quarters of a mile north of the Hammersmith and Chiswick > terminus of [the N&SWJR;].

In the United States, these "mid-block crossings" may include additional regulatory signage such as "PED XING" (for "pedestrian crossing"), flashing yellow beacons, stop or yield signs, or by actuated or automatic signals. Some more innovative crossing treatments include in-pavement flashers, yellow flashing warning lights installed in the roadway, or HAWK beacon—an overhead signal with a pair of red beacons above an amber beacon, when a pedestrian is detected or actuates the device it begins a sequence of amber flashing followed by a solid red, followed by a flashing red phase that allows motorists to proceed, only if the pedestrian(s) are clear of the travel way. In the United States, crossing laws vary from state to state and sometimes at the local level. All states require vehicles to yield to a pedestrian who has entered a marked crosswalk.

NZ Transport Agency diagram for a Belisha beacon device in New Zealand Outside of the UK, Belisha beacons are perhaps most prominent in New Zealand, where they are required at all marked pedestrian crossings. Traffic regulations require a controlling authority to erect on each pole indicating the presence and position of a pedestrian crossing either an internally illuminated amber globe not less than 300 mm in diameter, which has a lamp that provides 40 to 60 flashes per minute, or a 400 mm diameter fluorescent orange disk. The pole must be erected within 2 metres of each end of a crossing. The poles must be not less than 75 mm in diameter and not less than 2 metres in height, and must be clearly painted with alternate parallel bands of black and of white, each having a width of approximately 300 mm.

Surrounded on all sides by green buffer, the village heart is southwest of London and NNE of the county town, Guildford with easy access to the River Thames to the south, its station being the same to the north, and Heathrow Airport centred to the north. A bypass of the A244 cuts off a western tract of housing linked by a pedestrian crossing. It leaves far less traffic in the village heart compared to the northern stretch (higher numbers) of Upper Halliford Road, whose west side fronts quite spacious housing and a large nature pond, whereas its east side has Grange Farm park home estate, farmhouse with smallholding, Halliford (or Manor Park) recreation ground, woodland and another smallholding before the large road bridge at the boundary with Sunbury Common. The bridge passes over the Shepperton Branch Line and the M3 motorway.

In October 2017 it was announced that the station would be demolished in its entirety and completely rebuilt to ensure platforms and access ramps meet DDA (Disability Discrimination Act 1992) requirements and to remove a speed restriction on passing trains due to the relatively narrow width of the rail corridor in between the platforms. The rebuilt station features completely new platforms that are the same height as the train floor, as well as new shelters, seating and lighting. The pedestrian crossing points at the adjacent level crossing was also upgraded to 'active crossings' meaning that gates will open and close automatically to prevent pedestrians from entering the rail corridor whilst trains are passing. Construction was originally expected to be completed by the reopening of the train line in January 2018, however, works continued until May with the platforms remaining open for train passengers during most of this time.

The Haaga executions of 1918 took place in Etelä-Haaga (‘South Haaga’) in what was then the Rural Municipality of Helsinge during the Battle of Helsinki of the Finnish Civil War on 12 April 1918. A total of 45 persons suspected of belonging to the Red Guards were executed by German troops at a bog at 8 o’clock p.m. at the site of the present Eliel Saarisen tie, halfway from the Pitäjänmäki roundabout to the tunnel leading to the Huopalahti Station, at the site of a pedestrian crossing. 28 of those executed were buried in the Pohjois-Haaga mass grave, which is located close to the current Pohjois-Haaga railway station. During the Battle of Helsinki, the German Baltic Sea Division advanced on 11 April to Leppävaara, Espoo. A group of Reds sought shelter in the cellar of Carl Theodor Ward’s garden in South Haaga, at 12 Vanha Viertotie.

Riders have the choice of taking an unsealed, though well made, trail on either side of the creek through Gardiners Creek Reserve; this remains one of the few remaining unsealed sections along the entire trail, but is also one of the few sections with paths on both sides of the creek. Once at Station Street riders can detour to a nearby pedestrian crossing, or cross at the lights at Riversdale Road. Riders may choose to divert to the Wurundjeri Walk Trail at this point by heading up Boardman Close on the east side of Station St, with the far end of the close leading to the Wurundjeri Walk Trail. To remain on the Gardiners Creek Trail, riders should travel north up Old Station Street, passing immediately by the main golf club entrance, and then turn right at the quiet and dead end part of Riversdale Road.

Revised: 1909 Laigh Borland was demolished in the mid 20th century and it is recorded that a 16th or 17th century datestone with the initials of the Brown family once existed above the entrance door of the attached building that was latterly a kitchen. Its relative inaccessibility due to the ford had been partly overcome by a hardcore access from Over Borland however it had fallen into disrepair and the council required its demolition on safety grounds as a public access still existed via North Borland with a pedestrian crossing at the ford for footpath walkers, the concrete bases used as handrails supports are still present. The workers cottages, one occupied by Mrs Watt, were thatched up until demolition and an associated small ruined building, probably a pigsty, still exists partly built into the hillside. The family grave of the Watt family records that Martha Watt née Stevenson died in 1916 at Laigh Borland at the age of 81.

The municipality then acquires the bridge and repairs. This bridge existed until 1968 when it was demolished to be replaced by the current bridge. # Passerelle pedestrian crossing the river to almost one kilometre from the water (or 550 meters in a straight line) downstream of the dam of Saint-Narcisse; # Saint-Narcisse electric dam; # Bridge for pedestrians built at the falls in Murphy, located 3.3 km from water (or 2.5 km direct line) upstream of the dam of Saint-Narcisse. Mid Batiscanie # Saint-Stanislas (Des Chenaux) bridge, located at the height of the village, built at about 8.5 km upstream of the dam of Saint-Narcisse; # Cement bridge of Saint-Adelphe, located at the height of the rue du Moulin in the village, about 15.5 km upstream from the bridge of Saint-Stanislas (Des Chenaux) bridge, # Covered wooden bridge of Saint-Adelphe, upstream of the other bridge built in cement. Wooden bridge was built in 1924 and demolished in 1965, after the construction of the cement bridge.

After the cross traffic has had its turn, the arrows on opposite sides would both turn green, until one side runs out of right-turn traffic. In any case, when both sides of the intersection turn green, the corresponding arrow will turn off after a short delay, thus working similarly to the old Victorian standard. This method has the advantage of being controlled during peak-hours, where controllers would be able to prevent the arrow from turning off in extreme peak-hour traffic, but causes confusion as drivers expect a light to be on when three are present. In New Zealand, where they drive on the left, when a road is given a green light from an all direction stop, a red arrow can continue to display to turning traffic, holding traffic back while the pedestrian crossing on the side road is given a green signal (for left turns) or while oncoming traffic goes straight ahead and there is no permissive right turn allowed (for right turns).

A GWR seat at The pedestrian crossing at Cockwood Steps, on the South Devon Main Line, retains a gate with GWR spear-type railings The GWR's memory is kept alive by several museums such as STEAM – the museum of the GWR (in the old Swindon railway works), and the Didcot Railway Centre, where there is an operating broad-gauge train. Preserved GWR lines include those from Totnes to Buckfastleigh, Paignton to Kingswear, Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and Cheltenham to Broadway. Many other heritage railways and museums also have GWR locomotives or rolling stock in use or on display. Numerous stations owned by Network Rail also continue to display much of their GWR heritage. This is seen not only at the large stations such as Paddington (built 1851, extended 1915)Brindle (2004), pp. 120–121. and Temple Meads (1840, 1875Oakley(2002), pp. 18–23. & 1935)Oakley(2002), pp. 24–25. but other places such as Bath Spa (1840), (1878), (1879),Bennett (1988a), p.

Work has been completed following Suffolk County Council's proposed plans to reduce congestion in the Duke Street-Fore Hamlet area, this was achieved through work on the junctions and rights of way along the route. The scheme was funded through the Community Infrastructure Fund, as it improves connections to and from the redeveloped waterfront area. The scheme included replacing the Duke Street roundabout with a signalled junction with changes to the access onto/off of Back Hamlet and Duke Street, the changes to access resulted in no entry from Back Hamlet to Fore Street and Fore Hamlet meaning that traffic flows more smoothly as there are no interruptions in flow caused by vehicles entering from Back Hamlet; the other change to access is from Duke Street which now has no right turns from Duke Street onto Fore Hamlet. The pedestrian crossing facilities in the area have also been modernised including implementing bus priority measures.

On August 23, 2004, a Type 8 Breda low-floor streetcar derailed at Northeastern University Green Line stop, causing scarring in the outbound platform near the pedestrian crossing on the Opera Place side of the station. Type 7 car wrecked in the May 2008 accident On May 28, 2008, two D branch trains collided in Newton. The operator of one of the trains was killed and numerous riders were taken to area hospitals with injuries of varying degrees of seriousness. While it was originally thought that cell phone use was responsible for the accident, the cause was officially determined to be an episode of micro-sleep caused by the driver's sleep apnea. On May 8, 2009, two trolleys rear-end collided underground between Park Street and Government Center when the driver of one of the trolleys, 24-year-old Aiden Quinn, was text messaging his girlfriend while driving."Trolley Driver Was Texting Girlfriend At Time Of Crash: 46 Injured In Green Line Crash" , WCVB, Boston, May 8, 2009.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service National Training Centre There are no local healthcare facilities, no places of worship and just one licensed grocer incorporating a post office by way of shops. Its location on the south side of the main road through the district (while most residents live on the north side) was also a concern in the community as children and the elderly put themselves at risk trying to cross against speeding vehicles – the road had no pedestrian crossing or other traffic calming measures in place and the road became increasingly busier in recent years due to new housing in Newton and Drumsagard Village. After a concerted effort by local residents over several years, a pelican crossing was installed outside the grocer in mid-2019.Joy in Westburn as work starts on road crossing, Daily Record, 16 April 2019 The small public house from the 19th century survived in various hands until 2016 when it closed awaiting redevelopment, being converted into a fast food takeaway the following year.

Anyaduba is an Advocate of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and founder of International Initiative for the Advancement of SDGs in Africa (IIASDG), an NGO that promotes the UN Sustainable Development Goals in Africa. As a spokesperson and liaison officer for The Good Fathers Foundation, he coordinated the smooth running of the Litre of Light Project, a Community Development and Human Empowerment Projects for fathers and kids who have no father figures in partnership with the University of Nottingham UK and Litre of Light. In the 2017 United Nations Road safety Week, he organized the SAFECROSS project; An Awareness on Pedestrian Crossing in Nigeria with the support of the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Lagos Nigeria.
