They take many different forms which distinguishes the form of small roof above the window: "à chevalet" (straight lucarne), lucarne avec saillie and lucarne "à la capucine" (or with receding roof).

At the top of the tower is a battlemented parapet with pierced tracery panels, and pinnacles at the corners. Inset on the tower is an octagonal spire with a pinnacle attached to each of its diagonal faces. On each cardinal face is a two-light lucarne. The upper part of the spire has been removed and around its top is a pinnacled coronet.

Keeper's Corner is the southerly part of the village. On the south side of its 'corner' crossroads is Keeper's Cottage and opposite it are allotment gardens for the center of the settlement. Built around 1700 with early 20th extensions, the small house has lucarne windows and is part timber- frame on a plinth, late use timber frame design was often seen as this is part of the timber-frame prevalent region named the Weald.

Rasha Salti (born 1969, Toronto) is a researcher, writer, and curator of art and film. She lives and works between Beirut and Berlin. Salti co-curated many film programs at public institutions, including ArteEast, Lincoln Center and Museum of Modern Art in New York, and collaborated with film festivals as a programmer, such as the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. Since 2017, she is the commissioning editor for La Lucarne at ArteFrance, a program dedicated to experimental documentary.

In 1969, Caron married Michael Laughlin, the producer of the film Two-Lane Blacktop; they divorced in 1980. Caron was also romantically linked to Dutch television actor Robert Wolders from 1994 to 1995. From June 1993 until September 2009, Caron owned and operated the hotel and restaurant Auberge la Lucarne aux Chouettes (The Owls' Nest), located in Villeneuve-sur-Yonne, located about south of Paris.

In 2008, his film Yves was shown on the channel Arte on the program La Lucarne. Zabat's film Fading was selected for the Orizzonti competition in the 67th Venice International Film Festival in 2010 and for the Cinema of the Future Competition at BAFICI, the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival (Argentina) in 2011. His work was also shown in “Art in the 21st Century, Day for Night1– Between Reality and Illusion” at the Community University in New York. His film Basement perspective was in competition at the Locarno Film Festival (Switzerland) in 2012, in the Corti d'artista section.

It is built in red brick with panels containing stonework in the upper storey, and has Westmorland green slate roofs. Its plan consists of a main square part with a wing to the north. On the front of the main part of the house are, from the left, a round turret with a conical roof containing a hipped lucarne and surmounted by a finial, a high shaped chimney, and an octagonal turret with an octagonal spire and finial. The upper storeys of the main part of the house and the octagonal turret are jettied on terracotta corbels.

It was designed by George Edwards in the classical style, constructed by Treasure & Son, and completed in 1890. The design involved a symmetrical main frontage with seven bays facing onto Fulham Road; the central section of three bays featured an arched doorway with carved tympanum above flanked by windows; there were three windows each flanked by Ionic order columns on the first floor; there were three ocululi on the second floor and a lucarne with another oculus above. Internally, the principal room was a large public hall, often referred to as the Great Hall, which extended deep into the building on the first floor. An additional block was built to the south east of the main building with a council chamber on the ground floor and a concert hall on the first floor.
