Houghton was both an advocate of global theater and dedicated to the live theater of New York City. At the 2010 Inside Soap Awards the storyline gained nominations for Batley in the categories of "Best Exit" and "Best Stunt". Virgin Media profiled some of Hollyoaks' "hottest females" in their opinion, of Sarah they stated: "Sarah Barnes' sex appeal stretched so far she even had to experiment with the ladies. Turns out that wasn't the brightest idea she'd ever had - her jealous girlfriend Lydia finally polished her off good and proper." Olly Riachards men's lifestyle magazine FHM commented on Sarah stating: "the one who fell out of a plane and splatted all across the ground, leading to a really drawn out and really boring plotline" Holy Soap opined that Batley "livened up screens as lesbian temptress Sarah Barnes." and that she had many "major storylines".

From its launch in 1985 until 1994, Children's BBC was presented from the regular continuity announcer's booth in the BBC1 network control area, which had a fixed camera so that the presenter could appear in vision; as it remained an operational continuity booth, the presenter would partly direct their own links by way of vision and sound mixers built into the studio desk. The booth became known as 'the Broom Cupboard' due to its small size (the term was first used to refer to a smaller temporary booth, but was later retroactively applied to the main booth). The plain booth wall behind the presenter would be livened up with elements of set dressing, VT monitors and pictures sent in by viewers. Occasionally, when Children's BBC was going out on BBC2 rather than BBC1 due to events coverage, the presenter would be located in the BBC2 continuity booth, which was not set dressed for Children's BBC, for transmission purposes.

Curcio was born in 1953 in Sant'Angelo di Brolo, in the Province of Messina, Sicily. As a youngster, he played local football for Orlandina before joining Messina, where he made his senior debut on the opening day of the 1972–73 Serie C season in the starting eleven for a goalless draw away to Trani. Curcio finished the season with 13 appearances as his team were relegated, but the following season scored four goals from 23 appearances as Messina won their section of Serie D. His performances earned the 21-year-old Curcio a move to Roma of Serie A. Head coach Nils Liedholm gave him his debut as a second-half substitute on the opening day of the 1974–75 season in a 1–0 defeat away to Torino; his introduction livened up the attack, but made no difference to the score. He made two more appearances in 1974 and, after some muscle problems, made an unexpected return to the first team for the visit to Vicenza on 5 January 1975.

Harrison acted in several films with Sancho, the archetypal Mexican bandit of paella and spaghetti westerns, most of which were produced and/or directed by Ignacio F. Iquino. One of the more successful Harrison films from the latter half of the 70s was the Italian crime thriller La Belva Col Mitra (1977) Beast With A Gun, directed by Sergio Grieco, also starring Helmut Berger and Marisa Mell. Harrison played the part of Police Commissioner Giulio Santini, with top-billed Berger as psychotic criminal Nanni Vitali, out to kill Santini and everyone else who testified against him in court.
