Mayhaw Hoons (born June 22, 1982) is the bassist for the Shaky Hands, who he has performed and recorded with since 2004. He has self-released several solo albums produced by Portland musician and friend Alex Arrowsmith (on whose records he has also made appearances). Hoons also fronts the on-again-off-again Portland garage- funk band Mondo Hollywood as the singer and principal songwriter. He was the bass player and backing vocalist for The Shaky Hands from 2004 until his departure in summer 2010.

Carol decides to stay with the band. # Martin gets disenchanted with the band's progress and is influenced by Charlie (Megan Williams) and her Fairlight. Darrell books a studio to do a demo but it costs $500 so they do a gig at the Pleasant Grove Bowling Club. # Darrell makes documentaries about himself and discovers the Hoons.

Darrell is persuaded to drop the Hoons and leaves the band to concentrate on videos. Martin finds he can't connect with Charlie's music and Shrug quits his record selling job that girlfriend Kerry (Michelle Stayner) had set up. Anxious to repopulate a kingdom depopulated by Tipu, Dodda welcomed the fugitive Konkani Christians.

After spending much of 2009 on tour, Morris left the group in February 2010. Delffs moved to the drums in Morris' absence and recruited Portland artist Alex Arrowsmith for keyboards and guitars. After recording a new record Realms Out Of Reach in summer 2010, Mayhaw Hoons left the group and Arrowsmith moved to bass. Mike Yun was brought in on keyboards and guitar, along with Justin Power on additional percussion and backing vocals.

The Shaky Hands were signed to Holocene Music in late 2006. By this time, the lineup had changed considerably, with Mayhaw Hoons replacing Culp (who left in late 2004) on bass and the addition of second guitarist Jeff Lehman. Nathan Delffs (Nicholas' brother, and member of The Castanets) joined shortly thereafter on percussion and lap steel. Their sound is a fusion of 1960s style British Invasion bands such as The Kinks, The Who and The Zombies and American folk-rock in the vein of Neil Young.

The situation reaches its boiling point the night of the town's annual Pioneers Ball which is a fancy dress and costume party. What was planned to be a "car gymkhana" by the young men turns into an assault on the town where both sides attack each other killing several of the residents. Arthur regains his driving confidence when he repeatedly drives the Mayor's car into his former hospital orderly supervisor who is one of the hoons. The film closes with Arthur, and the town's other residents, leaving Paris in the night.

Mayor Len gives Arthur a job at the local hospital as a medical orderly. Beneath the idyllic rural paradise of Paris is a festering feud between the young men of the town who live for their modified vehicles that they terrorise the town with and the older generation. When one of the hoons damages the Mayor's property and breaks a statue of an Aborigine the older men of the town burn the guilty driver's car as he is held down. The Mayor appoints Arthur the town Parking Inspector complete with brassard and Army bush jacket that further irritates the young men.

Street racing in Australia occurs across the country most notably in certain suburbs of major cities and semi-rural New South Wales and Victoria. People who participate, specifically the drivers themselves, are referred to as hoons or 'boyracers' in New Zealand. The term is also used as a verb to describe reckless and dangerous driving in general ("to hoon" or "to hoon around"). Street racing began in the late 1960s as the local vehicle manufacturers (Ford Australia, Chrysler Australia and Holden) began creating performance versions of their family cars both for attracting the growing male youth market and meeting racing homologation requirements.

Dennis Hood was elected to the South Australian Parliament at the age of 34, and was described by Peter Goers as "one of the youngest pollies in State Parliament". In 2006, Hood's wife Lisa Hood gave birth to his daughter, Madeline Hood, and said his good experience with the Women's and Children's Hospital was "fantastic" and "outstanding", and that he couldn't comprehend why people "whinged" about the system. He has been a comical conservative voice in South Australia, with such descriptions of the banning of the words "ho ho ho" during Christmas as "plain madness" as the word "ho" could be misconstrued as "whore", in what a University of South Australia communications senior lecturer concurred as being "nonsense". Dennis plays the acoustic and electric guitar, is a fan of the Adelaide Crows and loves sports cars, and has been a dissenter on Government policy to crush hoons on the basis of waste.
