Del and his cohorts are secretly selling repeater rifles to Chief Dark Thunder and the Comanche Indians, who do not want the railroad crossing their land. Del and rancher Broden want the Overland Pacific to re-route through Oaktown, where they own property. A hired gun and corrupt sheriff both end up dead. Ann breaks off her engagement upon learning Del's scheme, pleasing Jessie until she discovers the true nature of Del, then is shot by him.

In 1957, Calhoun formed Rorvic Productions, a production company with his partner, Victor Orsatti. He helped produce and starred in Flight to Hong Kong (1956), The Hired Gun (1957), Domino Kid (1957) and Apache Territory (1958). He made Utah Blaine (1957) for Sam Katzman and The Big Caper (1957) for Pine Thomas. For Kirk Douglas' company he appeared in Ride Out for Revenge (1958) and he returned to Universal for The Saga of Hemp Brown (1958).

Red Badge of Courage (1951) Audie Murphy (20 June 1925 – 28 May 1971) was a highly decorated American soldier and Medal of Honor recipient who turned actor. He portrayed himself in the film 'To Hell and Back', the account of his World War II experiences. During the 1950s and 1960s he was cast primarily in westerns. While often the hero, he proved his ability to portray a cold- blooded hired gun in No Name on the Bullet.

A greedy California land baron stakes a claim to the property of Gaspar Melo, sending hired guns to seize control. A rancher, Juan Obreon, learns that Melo's granddaughter Rosa has given birth to a baby. Juan is the child's father and intends to marry Rosa, but she is forced to hide her new son before hired gun Sandro shoots her. Rosa has a sister, Tonya, who flees before Sandro or his man Castro can find her.

A range war is building in Wyoming. Caught on opposite sides are Sam Brassfield, who builds fences to protect his grass land, and Clay Mathews, a cattle baron determined to keep an open range. Both men argue their case before the cattlemen's association to President Chester A. Arthur, who happens to be in Cheyenne for a visit. A hired gun of Mathews picks a fight with Brassfield's top man, Johnny Quatro, in a saloon, then vows revenge after Brassfield intervenes.

Both the Sheriff and Wes are aware of this; however, the Sheriff who was traumatized from a previous beating, states in his report, that it was self-defense. He revises his report when Wes steps forward with testimony to the contrary, challenging him to overcome his fear. Wes shoots down a hired gun that comes to town to kill the Sheriff and the Sheriff, in turn, shoots the man who hires the gunman when he attempts to shoot Wes in the back.

After losing interest in the hardcore scene, Luna-C became aware of a drum and bass tune called "Tower Bass" by DJ Aphrodite. It was the first tune that had inspired him in a long time. Using Aphrodite's style as a template, Luna-C started Influential Records. He had once produced a jungle-style tune on a one-off release on JFK Recordings as Hired Gun; under a variety of different names again, Howell started to release tunes on the Influential imprint.

Brazos has the bullet that killed his friend and slips it to Jane Banner (Dorothy Hart), the rancher's daughter. Inskip (Charley Grapewin) frees him before Brazos can be summarily hanged. Brazos makes the mistake of trusting Bess (Barbara Britton), Jane's sister, but she is in love with ranch foreman Bard Macky (Bruce Cabot), the man who killed Tyrell. Brazos refuses to strap on his guns, but Yount (Grant Withers) and hired gun Orcutt (Forrest Tucker) try to ambush him or run him off.

Ann Doran co-starred as the James boys' mother Zerelda James Samuel. In 1960 Wilke played Jesse James' associate Cole Younger in the short-lived NBC western series Overland Trail with William Bendix and Doug McClure. In his only appearance on Perry Mason, Wilke played Deputy Sheriff Connors in the 1963 episode "The Case of the Drowsy Mosquito." Wilke played a hired gun in The Far Country (1954) and continued to work steadily in films and television over the next 20 years.

Then, beginning in 1994, led by Florida, states across > the country sued big tobacco to recover public outlays for medical expenses > due to smoking. By changing the law to guarantee they would win in court, > the states extorted a quarter-trillion-dollar settlement, which was passed > along in higher cigarette prices. Basically, the tobacco companies had > money; the states and their hired-gun attorneys wanted money; so the > companies paid and the states collected. Then sick smokers got stuck with > the bill.

What followed was several weeks of violence between strikers, non- striking and strikebreaking miners, hired-gun Baldwin-Felts detectives, and deputized militia. The Colorado National Guard was mobilized on 28 October and arrived in the strike zone by train before the end of the month. The Major Hamrock was in charge of Company B of the National Guard, a 34-man detachment composed largely of enlisted CF&I; mine guards and detectives stationed mostly at Cedar Hill near Tabasco.McGovern & Guttridge, 211.

Rosenthal has received three Grammy Award nominations: Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1983 (Rainbow's "Anybody There" from the Bent Out of Shape LP), Best Rock Instrumental LP in 1990 (Steve Vai's Passion and Warfare), and Best Musical Show Album in 2003 (Movin' Out Original Broadway Cast Recording). He was Keyboard Magazine Readers Poll Winner for Best Hired Gun in 1993 and received Berklee College of Music's Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1994. Rosenthal has been awarded numerous gold and platinum albums.

According to the game's opening scene, stories of the origin of the universe's power have circulated for years, but it was not until recently that the source of the power has been found. Six crystals, named the "Bomb Elements," are said to contain unfathomable, though unknown, powers. So Professor Ein sends a space freighter to retrieve them and return to Planet Bomber for analysis. However, en route to Planet Bomber, the freighter is attacked by a hired gun and is destroyed.

Joe is a traumatized hired gun who rescues trafficked girls, using brutal methods against their captors. He cares for his elderly mother in his childhood home in New York City. Joe has flashbacks of the abuse he and his mother faced from his violent father, and his brutal past in the military and FBI, and is troubled by suicidal thoughts. As he comes home one night, Joe is seen by Moises, the son of Angel who acts as middleman between Joe and his handler John McCleary.

With North Hollow's involvement in Tankersley's death uncovered, Harrington kills North Hollow's hired gun in a duel, terrifying Young with the ease with which she does it. Following a failed attempt to assassinate her in a public restaurant, Harrington is determined to exact revenge. Her friends try to dissuade her, as her naval career would be destroyed. Young tries to avoid her until the Navy can assign her to duties off-world, but she finally meets him face-to-face and forces him into accepting a duel.

She rides to Fort Ralston, Texas to claim her inheritance, the Clarion newspaper, which her dad won in a card game. Stringer Winfield, the postal carrier, warns her that town founder Micah Ralston and ranch partner Sturdy own practically everything and everybody. Clarion editor Clay Ballard tries to get Prudence's ownership overturned, but drunken lawyer Cass Gower sobers up and wins her case, even though Judge Herzog is in Ralston's pocket. A hired gun, Jess Foley, acting as a "deputy," kills Gantz, a rival rancher.

Admitted as a full-fledged member of the band rather than a "hired gun", Kotzen was given considerable creative freedom. Resultingly, Kotzen's writing and performing contributions dominated the album. Kotzen would later be expelled from the band following the world tour, after it was discovered that he had been romantically involved with the fiancee of drummer Rikki Rockett. Recollections of the album, while no doubt soured by these events, nonetheless appear to faithfully reflect the basic clash between Kotzen's style and that of the band's founding members.

Burnham also worked as a cowboy, a guard for the mines, a guide, and a scout during these years. In Globe, Arizona, Burnham unwittingly joined the losing side of the Pleasant Valley War before mass killing started, and only narrowly escaped death. He had no stake in the feud, but he was drawn into the conflict by his association with the Gordon family. Once the killing started, he felt he had to join a faction as a hired gun, although it put him on the wrong side of the law.

Once Upon a Nightwish: Official Biography 1996–2006 Meanwhile, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen had started complaining about his role in the band, feeling like "a hired gun who would only do what he's asked to". According to their music teacher, Plamen Dimov, he and Holopainen have totally different characters, and thus difficulties were expected to arise. But Vuorinen was told to stay cool and "bite the bullet", and the problem was never addressed again. Later, Holopainen confessed that, at that time, he seriously started thinking about breaking Nightwish up.

James had a recurring role as Danie Nel, a hired gun, in the series Binnelanders in 2009. In 2010, in the stage play Rivonia Trial, James portrayed Joel Joffe, the attorney who represented Nelson Mandela in the infamous 1963–64 anti-apartheid trials of the same name. The play was generally well-received critically and described by the State Theatre as being a "complete sell-out." Also in 2010, he portrayed Afrikaner Sergeant Hattingh in a stage production of Biko: Where the Soul Resides, the story of South African martyr Steven Bantu Biko.

He hires Lomax (Kirk Douglas) to assist him, even though Lomax had worked as a hired gun for Pierce and was instrumental in sending Jackson to prison. Jackson needs Lomax not only because of his marksmanship, but also because he is a safecracker. The gold shipment is being transported in a "war wagon", a heavily armored stagecoach armed with a deadly Gatling gun in a top-mounted steerable turret. Jackson and Lomax assemble a gang and plan to rob the war wagon at the weakest point in the route it travels.

Self once again began working as a hired gun and found himself along with The Method Actors David Gamble in the Hamburg band The Beauty Contest, a band consisting of members of X-Mal Deutschland, 39 Clocks and Abwärts. With Kastrierte Philosophen he worked on various recordings including the Insomnia album and supported the band on NDR radio concerts. In 1985 Self met Blaine L. Reininger and was hired to tour behind his newly released “Night Air“ Album. This started a long and fruitful personal and professional relationship.

2) #6–7 (March – April 2009) deals with the fallout from that, as writer Daniel Way explains: "The first thing Osborn does to try and take care of the situation is to bring in a hired gun to take Deadpool down, which would be Tiger-Shark. That would be the standard thing to do, but of course everything about Deadpool is non-standard. So it goes completely awry and Norman has to get more serious about things." The story also sees the return of Bob, Agent of HYDRA.

The Mercenary series consists of three main games and a number of add-on datasets. While each game is self-contained, they make occasional references to other games in the series and are connected in terms of their freeform, open-ended gameplay, visual appearance and general ambience. Within each game the player must explore a world rendered in realtime 3D graphics, completing a number of non- linear tasks in order to achieve a single main objective. The title of the series derives from the player's role in carrying out tasks as a "hired gun".

John Daly was the gang's leader and namesake. Arriving in Aurora, Nevada from California in the early 1860s as a hired gun, Daly soon hooked up with "Three-Fingered Jack" McDowell and the two ran an unsavory saloon and operated the Daly Gang which terrorized the Nevada gold fields between Aurora and Carson City. Using scare tactics known as "criminal vigilantism," they lynched anyone who resisted. The Pond Mining Company hired the gang as hired guns in their feud against the Real Del Monte Mining Company over claims to Last Chance Hill.

The series follows the life of San Francisco-based Christopher Chance (Mark Valley), a unique private contractor, bodyguard and security expert hired to protect his clients. Rather than taking on the target's identity himself (as in the comic book version), he protects his clients by completely integrating himself into their lives, to become a "human target". Chance is accompanied by business partner Winston (Chi McBride) and hired gun Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley). Former client Ilsa Pucci (Indira Varma) becomes Chance's benefactor, while experienced thief Ames (Janet Montgomery) joins the team to seek redemption.

During a political debate in 1843, he survived an assassination attempt by Sam Brown, a hired gun. The scabbard of Clay's Bowie knife was tipped with silver, and in jerking the Bowie knife out in retaliation pulled this scabbard up so that it was just over his heart. Sam Brown's bullet struck the scabbard, and embedded itself in the silver. Despite having been shot in the chest, Clay tackled Brown, and with his Bowie knife removed Brown's nose and one eye, and possibly an ear, before throwing Brown over an embankment.

These mines are known as the "Big Three". Hollinger Mines was incorporated in 1910 with five equal partners consisting of former Mattawa, Ontario, shopkeeper brothers, Noah and Henry Timmins; Duncan and John McMartin, also brothers; and Mattawa attorney (1863–1924). In November 1912, 1,200 members of the Western Federation of Miners Local 145 held a strike at all three mines in response to a proposal to lower their wages. Mine operators hired gun thugs, who fired on the picket line and were ordered out by the provincial government.

After saving a rancher from hanging, cowboy Mike "Utah" Blaine learns that his enemy Rink Witter is now a hired gun working for wealthy Russ Nevers, who is out to own every piece of land in the territory. Utah teams up with Angie Kinyon, another murdered landowner's daughter, and rancher Mary Blake to maintain lawful ownership of their properties. He has a fistfight with Gus Ortmann, a large and popular fellow in town who misunderstands Utah's purpose. Witter then pulls a gun, but Utah's old pal Rip Coker shoots it from his hand.

Yolly (Nora Aunor), a flower vendor, her brother Efren (Dan Alvaro), a driver and hired gun for a ruthless gangster, and Connie (Gloria Romero) live a bleak existence in the underbelly of the fashionable tourist district of Manila. Escaping from a violent past, the siblings' world collides with Connie's gang. Complicating matters is the case of "Boy Rosas" (The Rose Boy), a serial killer whose trademark is to leave roses on the bodies of those he murders. Connie's son Dennis (Toby Alejar) becomes the prime suspect after Yolly sees him stabbing his girlfriend.

Branton grew up in Sevenoaks, Kent and was educated at Sheffield City Polytechnic where as an undergraduate he was taught by the Montserratian poet, playwright, and novelist E A Markham, and as a postgraduate by the British novelist Lesley Glaister. His first novel The Love Parade was published in 1997; The House of Whacks in 1999; Coast in 2000; The Hired Gun in 2001. Non-fiction includes Write a Bestselling Thriller published in 2012. Branton published his fifth novel The Tie and the Crest as a free download in April 2003, to protest UK involvement in the invasion of Iraq.

In the film, Knyazev does not appear as KGBeast and is only a hired gun. In 2016, he appeared briefly in Warcraft, the film adaptation of Warcraft, credited as Warrior, as well as joining the main cast of Starz TV's Power, for season three, as Dean. Callan has also completed the horror film Delirium, and is in post-production for the films Beyond Skyline, the sequel to the cult-classic Skyline, and Desolate, a drama based on a family of farmers living in a dystopian future. He filmed Bleeding Steel, a science fiction thriller starring Jackie Chan.

While Belfast is torn apart by a vicious, undeclared war, two men are engaged in a bitter and equally destructive private battle for vengeance. Ned Galloway, a streetwise hired gun, has abducted 'Silver' Steele a jailed Loyalist folk-hero who fired the first shot of the Troubles. Galloway's purpose – to prove who wields the real power in the city's battle-torn streets. While Galloway believes his anarchic skills can buy him a kind of freedom, Steele, having swapped a cell for the illusion of freedom, discovers that he no longer understands the mechanism and principles of the city he once fought for.

He also was billed as being from Oahu. At Survivor Series, Crush headlined the event as part of Foreign Fanatics (Yokozuna, Ludvig Borga and Quebecer Jacques) against All-Americans (Lex Luger, The Undertaker and Steiner Brothers). This rivalry led to a falls count anywhere match against Savage at WrestleMania X, which he lost. Crush would become a hired gun for his manager Mr. Fuji, helping his new client Jeff Jarrett win a King of the Ring qualifying match against Lex Luger on the May 21 episode of Superstars by attacking Luger outside the ring, causing him to lose by count-out.

On February 9, 2006, Nick Baron announced that a version of Halo 2 would be released on PC, exclusively for the Windows Vista operating system. While this was a deliberate decision by Microsoft to push sales of Vista, the game could be enabled to play on Windows XP through an unauthorized third-party patch. The game was ported by a small team at Microsoft Game Studios (codenamed Hired Gun) who worked closely with Bungie. As one of the launch titles of Games for Windows – Live, the game offered Live features not available in the Xbox version, such as guide support and achievements.

Aging town constable Bob Valdez (Burt Lancaster) is tricked into killing an innocent man by powerful rancher Frank Tanner (Jon Cypher), whose hired gun R.L. Davis (Richard Jordan) shot up the hovel where the wrongly accused man and his Indian wife were trapped. Valdez believes it would be a fair gesture to raise $200 for the widow, $100 from Tanner and the rest from others in town. Tanner is livid at the old man's suggestion. He orders ranch hand El Segundo (Barton Heyman) and his men to tie Valdez to a heavy wooden cross and drive him into the desert.

When he pulls a gun on them, Eve shoots him dead, and they flee. When it seems as if they have gotten away with the shooting, the two women move up the underworld chain of command to discover who ordered the drive-by. With the death of the drug dealer, Alonzo Troys, who actually pulled the trigger, they come to the attention of Ojeda, the hired gun of the kingpin of the criminal organization. As the bodies begin piling up, Lila becomes increasingly unsure of the morality of their actions, while Eve becomes bolder and more daring.

Red Dead Redemption is a 2010 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games. A spiritual successor to 2004's Red Dead Revolver, it is the second game in the Red Dead series. Red Dead Redemption is set during the decline of the American frontier in the year 1911 and follows John Marston, a former outlaw whose wife and son are taken hostage by the government in ransom for his services as a hired gun. Having no other choice, Marston sets out to bring three members of his former gang to justice.

In September 1878, exaggerated reports of Cheyenne raids on the populace prompted the government to send firearms to Dodge City to be used for self-defense by the citizens. Army Lt. Colonel William Henry Lewis selected Webb, Bill Tilghman, and others to serve as Army scouts. In 1879, Webb was selected to serve as a hired gun by Bat Masterson during the fight for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway during the Railroad Wars in Royal Gorge Colorado. He moved on from there to Las Vegas, New Mexico, joining Dave Mather, Doc Holliday and others.

In 1957, she appeared in the first episode of CBS's Perry Mason, "The Case of the Restless Redhead", in the title role of Evelyn Bagby, the defendant. In 1958, she again appeared in the title role as defendant Diana Reynolds in the episode, "The Case of the Black-Eyed Blonde". In 1957, she played Lilli Bridgeman, who hires a professional assassin to murder her husband, Les (Alan Hale, Jr.), so she can marry a rival rancher, Kiley Rand (Don Megowan), in the episode "Hired Gun" of the ABC/Warner Bros. Western series, Cheyenne, starring Clint Walker.

After the feud with the Legion of Doom ended, they engaged in a short feud with the returning Quebecers that failed to gain fan interest. The team began to flounder again with no real direction. As a result, the two were repackaged, thus ditching the Hillbilly gimmick and false names. On the June 1st, 1998 edition of Raw, the two adopted a "Southern Hired Gun" type of gimmick that saw them wear sharp suits and sunglasses and use their real names of Mark Canterbury and Dennis Knight for the first time and backing up Jeff Jarrett.

Andrea "Dre" Babinski (born August 26, 1985) is a Los Angeles-based actor, singer, songwriter, violinist, and guitarist, best known as the indie-pop solo-act Steady Holiday. Other notable work from Babinski includes recording and touring as violinist and backing vocalist for Dusty Rhodes and the River Band, and as one-half of the musical duo Miracle Days. Dre has also appeared (as Andrea Babinski) in several commercials for web and television, and has worked as a self-described "hired gun" in the band Hunter Hunted, as well as for The Elected, and a solo project from The Honorary Title's Jarrod Gorbel.

Batalla's concert film appearances in Hal Wilner's Cohen tribute, “I'm Your Man”, and featured a cast that included Rufus Wainwright, Nick Cave, Beth Orton, Antony, and Teddy and Linda Thompson. The Spanish film “Acordes con Leonard Cohen” had Perla sharing the stage in Barcelona with Jackson Browne and John Cale. Batalla has worked on the other side of the camera as well, arranging and musical directing comedic vocal scenes for Will Ferrell's “Stepbrothers”. Ms. Batalla has also been brought in as a hired gun by the studios as vocal coach/miracle worker for a various actors, including Jeremy Piven of HBO's Entourage.

As of 2011 Bruce moved back home and has resumed being a working cover/hired gun musician and hosting various benefits. He has played in several bands in Mid Michigan including fill-in spots with recording artists Deepfield and still plays with long running original project Feeding the Machine with guitarist Kevin McCreery (Uncle Kracker), who died in 2017, and drummer Fran MacMillan. He also continued his own sound engineering business in Michigan (called Level 47 Productions) that he began in Louisville, KY in 2007. He was recently voted Best Rock Bass Player for 2013 by the Bay Area Review, an award he also won in 2000.

Morgan Hastings (James Gregory), a gunsmith and rising entrepreneur, claims ownership of the Elders' rich ranch and house / outbuildings for his Hastings Gun Manufactory, saying he won it from their father in a game of cards; Bass Elder afterwards was shot in the back at night, and the killer is still unknown. Hastings hides a hostile attitude towards the brothers and brings in a hired gun, Curley (George Kennedy). Noting Hasting's suspicious attitude, the Elders begin to suspect foul play upon their return. Hastings claims Bass lost the ranch in a game of Blackjack, so John, in a ruse, states their father wouldn't have been caught dead playing Blackjack poker.

A banker named Cameron (Howard C. Hickman) is suspected of a robbery because he was the only person who knew the vault lock's combination. When a corrupt land owner, Ross Daggett (Cyrus Kendall), tries to exact vigilante justice, rancher Clint Bradford (George O'Brien) goes to the aid of June Cameron (Rosalind Keith), the banker's daughter, and hides her father. June inadvertently leads Daggett and his men, including hired gun Dusty (Ward Bond), to her father's hiding place, where Cameron is captured and taken back to town. Dusty is tricked by Clint into revealing a secret panel through which Daggett was able to view Cameron's use of the vault combination.

In a 1996 American Cowboy article titled "The Debonair Killer", David P. Grady noted: "Marion Hedgepeth looked like a dude, but 'dangerous' and 'deadly' fit him better". The dark- complexioned, wavy-haired six footer, who roamed from town to town as a hired gun, Grady wrote, maintained the fastidious, gentlemanly appearance of a dandy, sporting a bowler hat and diamond stickpin. WANTED posters noted that his shoes were usually polished. An article published in the Express Gazette, Volume 20 by "a man from Missouri", who described himself as "a disinterested student of train robbing", indicated that appearances were strategically important to Marion and his crew.

He later said he was reluctant to be a "hired gun", citing the band's refusal to record any of the nine songs he submitted for their then-upcoming album. Manson clarified: "There was talk early on about collaborating with different guitar players on the record. That was before Twiggy and I got back together, because once Twiggy was back, there was nobody else, and I don't care what you have to offer—this was our record." Manson and Twiggy announced at the 2008 Scream Awards in October that the album was "pretty much done", and indicated it would sound more like Antichrist Superstar than the band's recent material.

He started his own team in 1998 with the help of Derek Van Zelm and on limited budget ran in the V8 Supercars Championship from 1998 until 2001. His full-time racing career wound down at that point although he continued to get drives as a hired gun for many teams. In 2001 he made a return to the Holden Racing Team as an endurance driver and finished third in the 2002 Bathurst 1000 and fourth at the 2002 Queensland 500. He retired from racing in 2004 and later served as a Driving Standards Official for Confederation of Australian Motor Sport and V8 Supercars Australia.

After the band had given him a chance to clean himself up, another incident occurred almost immediately and Howarth was then let go from the band. In need of a bass player, long time friend of Neal Busby, B.I.T. graduate Adam Headland was brought in as a hired gun to record the album and tour. It was at this time that EMI also suggested that Slik Toxik be moved to one of their subsidiary record labels with less money, less support and still carrying a huge debt load. So it was decided by the band to leave the EMI and start fresh considering they had a wide fanbase .

After the war, with Confederate money now useless, many Missouri farmers find themselves unable to pay their bills. William Merrick and his men begin foreclosing on them or running them off, resulting in the death of Martha Adams, sweetheart of one of the Younger gang. The brothers Cole, Bob and Jim Younger ride back to Missouri just as their father is shot by Merrick's hired gun, Greg Bilson. A sheriff is killed as well and the Youngers are falsely accused of murdering him, so they retaliate by joining Jesse James's gang and pulling off robberies, giving the money to the needy farmers to pay their taxes.

However, he was a friend to the gang. The gang was organized by Justice of the Peace Hoodoo Brown, to control the gambling houses in Las Vegas, muscling out any unwanted rivals, thus raking in profits. Dave Mather at that time had a reputation as a gunman, but no real documented accounts of gunfights short of his involvement in the Railroad Wars as a hired gun, with his time in Las Vegas being prior to his well-known 1884 gunfight with lawman Tom Nixon in Dodge City, Kansas. On January 22, 1880, Marshal Joe CarsonJoe Carson and Mather entered Close and Patterson's Variety Hall after receiving complaints from citizens of rowdy customers inside.

Following the departure of keyboard player Franz Nicolay, and the release of their fifth studio album, Heaven Is Whenever (2010), the Hold Steady embarked upon an extensive world tour with additional members Steve Selvidge (guitar) and Dan Neustadt (keyboards). Regarding their entry into the Hold Steady, Selvidge noted, "[The band] decided to keep it to the core four members, and were looking for a hired-gun keyboard player. At that point, I think Tad said, if we're bringing in a new keyboard player, I want a second guitarist too, and I want it to be Steve." The band had previously known Selvidge through his bands the Bloodthirsty Lovers and the Secret Service.

Kreisberg and Sokolowski's first issue features The New 52 debuts of Felicity Smoak and Mia Dearden. Kreisberg's run sees him face off against the influential magnate John King, who is Mia's father, and his hired gun, Merlyn. At a moment of desperation given King's infinite resources and litany of loyal subjects, Felicity and Diggle recruit some of Green Arrow's allies and old enemies to help in the fight: Batman, Arsenal, Emiko, Katana, Onyx, Cupid and even Lex Luthor, at that time a Justice League member. Following DC's Convergence storyline in April–May 2015, the title again received a new creative team in writer Ben Percy and artist Patrick Zircher, whose run was more influenced by the horror genre.

Dan Riss (March 22, 1910 – August 28, 1970) was an American actor. He appeared in the films Pinky, Arctic Fury, When Willie Comes Marching Home, Appointment with Danger, Panic in the Streets, Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye, The Killer That Stalked New York, Wyoming Mail, Only the Valiant, Go for Broke!, Angels in the Outfield, Talk About a Stranger, Carbine Williams, Confidence Girl, Scarlet Angel, Washington Story, Operation Secret, Man in the Dark, Vice Squad, Riders to the Stars, Three Young Texans, The Miami Story, The Yellow Tomahawk, The Atomic Kid, The Price of Fear, Johnny Concho, Kelly and Me, The Iron Sheriff, Man on Fire, The Hired Gun, The Case Against Brooklyn, Badman's Country, Tarawa Beachhead and Ma Barker's Killer Brood, among others.

Murphy stars as Reb Kittridge, a wandering hired gun who is hired to get the deed of the last remaining ranch not owned by local boss Matt Telford (played by Donald Randolph). That last hold-out ranch is owned by Dan Saxon (played by Paul Kelly). Though Reb has not yet accepted the job he is ambushed by Saxon's ramrod, ranch foreman Curly Mather (played by Jack Kelly) and challenged to a gun fight by Saxon, both attempts to kill him being unsuccessful. Saxon, a former wild outlaw who settles down senses Reb has good in him and when he hears Reb's goal in life is to own his own ranch he loses the deed of the ranch to Reb in a card draw.

He continued his career on the small screen by appearing in guest spots on a variety of other series, such as The Range Rider (five times), Annie Oakley, Fireside Theater, Frontier, Matinee Theater, Fury, Northwest Passage, and The Man from Blackhawk. The year 1957 proved to be an especially busy one for Hale on television series. In addition to performing the role of Shawnee Bill on the Western Wanted Dead or Alive, he played a folksy rancher, Les Bridgeman, in "Hired Gun", an episode of the ABC/Warner Brothers series Cheyenne, with Clint Walker in the title role. Later that year Hale landed another starring role in the syndicated television series Casey Jones, which lasted for thirty-two half-hour episodes before its cancellation in 1958.

Set in the early 20th century, the film is about a lone woman, Lena Doyle (Faye Dunaway) who finds herself threatened by tough businessmen who want to take her land which possesses crude oil. Rather than settle and sell the land she rightfully owns, Lena decides to fight and to do this, she accepts the help of her father (John Mills) and a hired gun named Mason (George C. Scott). The title is also a double entendre as it is a fitting moniker for Scott's character, "Noble" Mason, who sides with Lena only after unsuccessfully attempting to be bought by the business interests, becomes romantically involved with her when the prospects for success are good and leaves when the well turns out to be a bust.

Jones also drove the Monza in selected races throughout 1986, mostly at their "local" track, the Winton Motor Raceway. After Kevin Bartlett severed ties with Mitsubishi in late 1985, the Jones brothers formed their own team BJ Motorsport to further the Starion touring car operation, qualifying the Starion 10th at the 1986 James Hardie 1000 after being fastest on the 1.9 kilometre long Conrod Straight during qualifying at . By the end of 1986, the Starion, despite its straight-line speed, had faded as a truly competitive touring car and Brad Jones become a hired gun driver for other touring car teams. The Ralliart Australia team was revived in 1987, though Brad Jones was surprisingly overlooked for a seat at the 1987 James Hardie 1000.

In December, Jericho feuded with Jon Moxley, offering him a spot in the group and also bringing in Jeff Cobb as a "hired gun" to attack Moxley. Despite all this, Moxley defeated Jericho to win the AEW World Championship at Revolution on February 29, 2020, ending Jericho's inaugural AEW World Championship reign at 182 days. During the following weeks, The Inner Circle feuded with The Elite and "Broken" Matt Hardy, culminating at Double or Nothing in the first ever Stadium Stampede match which Sammy Guevara was pinned by Kenny Omega. On July 29 episode of Dynamite, Jericho, with The Inner Circle, was defeated by Best Friends (Chuck Taylor, Trent and Orange Cassidy) and Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy) with Marko Stunt.

By this point the team was sundering apart and Jones took the major sponsor (Phillip Morris International) to form a new team with engineering brothers Ross and Jim Stone as partners, known commercially as Pack Leader Racing (the Pack Leader name came about as the use of the Peter Jackson cigarette brand was banned following the Australian Government's blanket ban on all cigarette advertising from 1 January 1996). Initially fast, the partnership was fading by 1997 and the Stones bought Jones out, re-badging the team as Stone Brothers Racing. Jones returned to race with Tony Longhurst's Longhurst Racing team again in 1998 by this time his form was fading. From 1999 onwards he no longer raced full-time, driving just the endurance races as a hired gun.

The major fictional representations to date have largely portrayed jury consultants as villains that are highly effective at influencing the jury, often using illegal tactics that mainstream practitioners do not use. Consultants are major characters in John Grisham's novel The Runaway Jury and the similar film adaptation. In the film, Rankin Fitch, "jury consultant for the defense", leads a team that uses high technology and sometimes-illegal tactics to prevent a judgment against their corporate client in what Salon calls "our worst nightmare of corporate arm-twisting". Writing about the book, Kressel and Kressel say Grisham "plays on fears that the American justice system has been hijacked by crafty attorneys and immensely effective hired-gun social scientists".. Jean Hanff Korelitz's A Jury of Her Peers stretches the known reality of consulting much further.

The feud concerned Benoit's appearance at ECW One Night Stand; Snitsky was a "hired gun" for Eric Bischoff's Raw volunteers, brought in to try to invade the pay- per-view and ruin the ECW reunion. Snitsky was then used by Edge and Lita to attack Kane and by Eric Bischoff as punishment to anybody that he did not like. On July 11 episode of Raw, Edge informed Snitsky that he knew about his female foot fetish and offered Snitsky to "have a go with Lita's feet" if he'd help him in a match against Kane. Lita and Snitsky's past was addressed when Lita actually thanked Snitsky for his actions nine months prior, saying that she was better off for not having birthed the spawn of Kane, and then gave him a kiss as a reward.

In 2008, former Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland joined the band for their headlining show at the 2008 ETP Fest in South Korea. However, Borland left the group to reunite with Limp Bizkit, later saying that he was reluctant to be a "hired gun", citing the band's refusal to record any of the nine songs he submitted for their upcoming album. R&B; singer Ne-Yo claimed in early December that he would hold writing sessions with the band's frontman on new material, although Manson denied it, saying that he had "never even met Ne-Yo. I can assure him that he would not want to be associated with something this godless." The High End of Low was recorded throughout 2008, with Manson recording vocals at his Hollywood Hills home studio between November and January 5, 2009.

Rua Tonelero gained historical significance due to the "Atentado da rua Tonelero" (Rua Tonelero attack), which took place on 5 August 1954, at 12:30 AM, at number 180 of the street. In an attempt to assassinate publishing executive and politician Carlos Lacerda, perpetrator Alcino João do Nascimento fatally shot his bodyguard Rubens Florentino Vaz, wounded security guard Sálvio Romeiro, and injured Lacerda with a shot in the foot. A member of the National Democratic Union, Lacerda was one of the key political adversaries of then-President of Brazil Getúlio Vargas, who had previously ruled as a dictator from 1930 to 1945, and mounted a strong opposition campaign against the president through his newspaper, Tribuna da Imprensa. An investigation following the incident found that Nascimento, a professional carpenter, had been a hired gun for Climério Euribes de Almeida, who accompanied him during the crime and was only identified later.

Procyon Cleanhands, also known as the Raccoon and the Bandit, is an escapee of the Narn K Monster Shop with enhanced strength, senses, and claws, and the personality of a dyed-in-the- wool gangster. He worked as a hired gun for the Zampa crime family before leading his own group called the Freelynchers and eventually joining up with Doc Horror and his crew. The Raccoon was once in league with Tony Zampa, Don Lupo's son and heir apparent, but was ousted in favor of an alliance with the Narn K. Zampa was inclined to betray and kill the Raccoon, who was a fugitive from Zampa's new business partners, but was killed himself when the Raccoon got the drop on him. The Raccoon was content to make his bid for power in the criminal syndicates, but when the Narn K rekindled their pursuit of him he could no longer maintain neutrality in their dealings.

Encouraging filmmakers to take risks, and giving them complete artistic freedom, from 1991 to 1995 he developed and then executive produced five feature films by first-time directors, producers and writers: Blood & Donuts, Cube, Rude, Shoemaker, and House. While faring poorly at the box office, they garnered generally favorable critical praise, and in two cases launched the healthy careers of two new directors: Clement Virgo with Rude and Vincenzo Natali with Cube. After leaving the Feature Film Project, Brunton became a hired-gun, working as a line producer, producer, and production manager on a variety of feature films and television series including the features Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Safety of Objects and Foolproof, as well as the television series The Newsroom, Our Hero, Schitt's Creek and Puppets Who Kill. Brunton continues working at a steady pace, most recently producing the TV series Little Mosque on the Prairie, Spun Out and Schitt's Creek.

The chairman of the Expert Witness Institute, James Badenoch QC, told The Independent on Sunday that he was worried about experts being "frightened off" by the prospects of claims against them in such cases. Peter Garsden, a solicitor who is president of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers, called the decision "horrifying", adding that he already found it difficult to find expert witnesses and the "fear of litigation" could have "a drastic effect" on his firm's work. Writing in the New Law Journal, Chris Pamplin called the decision "unprincipled" and argued that the decision "threatens the very foundation of witness immunity", based on an out-of-date view of the expert witness as a "hired gun". Pamplin's view was that the majority had "ignored the fundamental difference" between experts and advocates, saying that advocates had no choice but to continue in the legal system whereas experts could continue their ordinary work without needing to carry on as an expert witness.

Until one day Reza's world is shaken due to a meeting with Abolfath (Ali Nassirian), a bookbinder in the Grand Bazaar of Tehran that starts a political discussion with Reza about his life and the hardship of common man under the rule of corrupt politicians and aristocracy. Reza, feeling a sense of obligation to his fellow men, then joins with Abolfath's secret organization (by the name of Komiteh Mojazat, roughly translated to "Retribution Committee") to act as a hired gun. His first target was Esmaeel Khan (Esmaeel Payandeh), the man in charge of Tehran's granary and from the perspective of Abolfath, the man responsible for famine among commoners. After the assassination of Esmaeel Khan, Reza is tasked to kill another man: Matin -o- Saltane (Parviz Poorhosseini), the editor-in-chief of a conservative newspaper who was condemned by Komiteh Mojazat for publishing what they deemed as "untrue" or "treacherous to Iranian way of life".

After failing to defeat Hogan in a subsequent series of matches, DiBiase turned to Roussimoff to win it for him. He and DiBiase had teamed several times in the past, including in Japan and in the WWF in the late 1970s and early 1980s when both were faces, but this was not acknowledged during this new storyline. The earlier attack and DiBiase's insertion into the feud set up the Hogan-Roussimoff rematch on The Main Event, to air February 5, 1988, on a live broadcast on NBC. Acting as his hired gun, Roussimoff won the WWF World Heavyweight Championship from Hogan (his first singles title) in a match where it was later revealed that appointed referee Dave Hebner was "detained backstage", and a replacement (whom Hogan afterwards initially accused of having been paid by DiBiase to get plastic surgery to look like Dave,Hulk Hogan postmatch interview, The Main Event NBC television, February 5, 1988 but was revealed to have been his evil twin brother, Earl Hebner),"A WWF Magazine Investigative Report: Dave Hebner's Shadow," WWF Magazine, June 1988, p. 30.
