McComb Union Cemetery features a small Civil War monument to remember McComb's Civil War heroes, including the graves of two of the first Medal of Honor recipients, who were involved in the Great Locomotive Chase. While at Kornarens and Howard, Howard drafted an initiative that according to Edmund Sanders, in the Los Angeles Times (1999) would " allow identity theft victims to require that banks, credit card companies and others delete their names and personal information from marketing lists.. [and] prevent banks from continuing to spread any misinformation about consumers through unsolicited credit card offers and other junk mail. The measure would also allow a consumer to collect damages from a bank or credit card company that sold his or her account numbers to anyone convicted of a felony who then used the information to victimize the consumer." He also represented the Bolsa Chica Land Trust before the California Coastal Commission, responsible for crafting the legal theories, grassroots advocacy, and submissions that lead to the Commission in 2000 unanimously preserving not just ribbons of land around wetlands but large tracts of adjacent land. Guise dancing was observed in the late 19th century by Cornish antiquarian M. A. Masks are the most notable feature of Guise dancers both historic and modern with "Bal masqué"Edmondes, Richard :from the Transcripts of the Penzance Natural History and Antiquarian Society 1851 being a common type of mask on display, animal masks, and plainer masks also present. William Bottrell in his book Traditions and Hearthside Stories of West Cornwall (1870–80) describes in detail the guise dancers in Penzance, including their traditional costume.
