Dry slope users often improve the performance of their equipment by using the hardest grade of ski wax. The wax wears off quickly, however, and must be renewed after one or two sessions. At least one company makes a hard wax that is intended for use on dry slopes. Some users apply aerosol furniture polish or other can based products to the bases of their skis or boards as the silicone oil it contains is reputed to reduce friction.

Bell was born on the Akrotiri Royal Air Force station in Cyprus in 1966, the son of pilot Rod Bell and teacher Jean Bell. Graham’s love of skiing started at age 5 when his father was posted to Edinburgh, Scotland. He learned to ski in the Cairngorm Mountains and Hillend dry slope. By the time the family moved to Yorkshire, England (where his father was posted), Graham and his brother Martin were both racing full-time on the World Cup circuit.

The primary purpose of the terracing technique is to limit the erosion of soil to provide a solid foundation for planting, as well as maximizing soil moisture, but also utilized the available land in areas with steep slopes that would ordinarily be unsuitable for planting. This technique began in the early classic period at Blue Creek as a response to the occurrence of increased soil erosion evident in the pre- classic period, and utilized check dams and naturally occurring canals. It later developed in the late classic period into dry slope terracing, which may have facilitated Blue Creek’s urban growth. Many of these ancient terraces are still functioning today.

The slope and surrounding area have become more increasingly dilapidated. From a recent survey of the existing site, all debris of the burnt lodge have been removed, the chair-lifts appear to have been partially dismantled, and the dry slope, grounds and car park are overgrown and in a very poor state of repair. On 16 March 2010, the future of the SnowDome project became more hopeful after a public informal planning enquiry was conducted at Wycombe District Council offices.

The ski team continues to be one of the best in the country, lead by skiing master Mark Vernon, Reeds are regional and national title holders in both Dry Slope, and Snow Ski Racing in the U14 Boys, U16 Boys and U18 Boys & Girls. Many racers who are members of the ski racing academy at Reed's have World Cup and Olympic aspirations, with multiple ORs having raced or currently on Olympic Teams, such as Luke Steyn (Capel 2012), OR Jack Gowercompeted in his world cup debut in November 2017 at Lake Louise. The team's current main sponsor is Equity, however in the past have been sponsored by Powder Byrne (in which the ski academy was shortly rebranded to "Reed's Powder Byrne Ski Academy") and Fastlane. The 2017/18 roll of honour includes students who were selected to represent Team England at the 2018 ISF World School Games in Grenoble.
