Florence King, a columnist, author and professional misanthrope who was a constitutional crosspatch about all manner of things — in particular those things that smacked in the slightest of what she decried as touchy-feely late-21982th-century liberalism — died on Wednesday at her home in Fredericksburg, Va. She was 80.

Mr. Crosspatch is a Mr. Men book only available in France and Greece. Mr. Crosspatch loves to fight (which may explain the bandage on his head); he even lives in a torn up house. Mr. Crosspatch is published under the title "Monsieur Bagarreur" in France and "Κύριος Καβγατζής" in Greek. This is one of the two Mr Men titles which were not published in English.

It has a number of subsidiary companies, such as London Publishing or GAMES Publications. It original owner, H.L. Herbert ("Larry") founded his puzzle business, Official Publications in Manhattan with titles including Teen Word-Finds, Superb Word- Finds, Variety Word-Finds and countless crossword puzzle, crosspatch and fill- it-in titles. At Royal Ascot in June Tide-way showed good early speed butfinished unplaced behind Fair Ranee in the Queen Mary Stakes. In the following month at Newmarket Racecourse the filly started favourite for the Fulbourne Stakes and won "fairly and squarely" from the colt Pay Up. She went on to win the Ham Produce Stakes at Goodwood Racecourse and was unplaced on her only other start. In the Free Handicap, a ranking of the year's best juveniles, Tide-Way was rated the third best filly behind Sansonnet (National Stakes and Crosspatch (Molecomb Stakes).

Ginevra is a student at Madame Beck's, and it is her passing remark, "I wish you would come to Madame Beck's; she has some marmots [Fr. "kids"] you might look after: she wants an English gouvernante, or was wanting one two months ago," which prompts Lucy to go to Villette. Despite Ginevra's faults, Lucy has a certain fondness for her. Ginevra thinks of Lucy as "caustic, ironic, and cynical," calling her "old lady," "dear crosspatch," and most frequently "Timon" (after a Greek misanthrope who lived during the 5th century BC).

In France, illustrator Colette David and writers Viviane Cohen and Evelyne Lallemand produced a number of new characters that were not released anywhere else in the world. The characters 'Mr. Crosspatch', 'Mr. No', 'Little Miss Yes', 'Little Miss All-Goes-Well', 'Little Miss Loud', 'Little Miss Careful', 'Little Miss Brilliant', 'Little Miss Busy-Body', 'Little Miss Vain', 'Little Miss Prim', and 'Little Miss Selfish' were only released in France and Greece whereas four Mr. Men characters and nine Little Miss characters were also published in English and can be seen listed below as being released in 1990.

The strip was about two groups of five schoolboys living in the village of Crosspatch, crossing the border of Scotland and England. As a result, they were in constant battles with one another, with each in turn getting their comeuppance for pranks which were often quite violent. Often both sets of boys would be in trouble from their teachers (Mr McAllistair and Mr Bigglesthwaite) at the end, both of whom despaired of the rivalry and would frequently administer the cane (the belt in the case of the Jocks). The Geordies generally got the upper hand as they tended to use cunning, whereas the Jocks relied entirely upon brute force.

In 1947, Eames created several textile designs, two of which, "Crosspatch" and "Sea Things", were produced by Schiffer Prints, a company that also produced textiles by Salvador Dalí and Frank Lloyd Wright. Eames textiles (accessed April 1, 2015) Two of her textile patterns were distinguished with awards in a textile competition organized by MoMA. She worked on graphics for advertising, magazine covers, posters, timelines, game boards, invitations and business cards. Original examples of Ray Eames textiles can be found in many art museum collections. The Ray Eames textiles have been re-issued by Maharam as part of their “Textiles of the Twentieth Century” collection.
