Riding on the success of that first catalog, Vrest and Mildred purchased a two-story structure in Weston, built in 1827, that had originally been a country inn and opened The Vermont Country Store in the spring of 1946. The Wintergreen Country Store is a historic building built originally as a country store located near Nellysford, Nelson County, Virginia. It is a one- and two-story, shed roofed, frame vernacular building with weatherboard siding on a masonry and concrete foundation. The store was built in four phases: the original store was a one-story, one-room building with a porch, built between 1908 and 1909; the second was living space added in the late 1920s; the third phase added a two-story section with a two-story porch; and the fourth phase was added by Wintergreen Ski Resort as a welcoming center when it first opened in 1975. After closing as an office and gift shop for the Wintergreen resort, the building was used as a meeting place for Peace in the Valley, an Episcopal Church mission.
In 1938, the Church felt the need for a larger place in which to hold activities of different kinds. The large two-story building next door was bought for a parish house and community hall for the use of the church and community. This building had been, for many years, a real "old time" country store and post office. It is being improved and modernized.

In 1910, Starr graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law and was admitted to the Illinois bar.
Blaine became the site of a rural post office in 1876 and was probably named after James G. Blaine, a leading Republican who was defeated in the 1884 Presidential election. Drake is an unincorporated community in Warren County, Kentucky, United States. It was also known as Old Drake or Whites Chapel. The community of Drake has less than 2,000 in population and resides in southern Warren County about 60 miles north of Nashville, Tennessee. Drake Country Store was once the site of an old post office, but has since been closed and now only a restaurant.
A variant name was "Danburgh". The community derives its name from one Samuel Danforth (1798-1856). The Georgia General Assembly incorporated the place in 1904 as the "Town of Danburg", with municipal corporate limits extending in a one-mile radius from the front door of Anderson's country store. The community was founded in 1883 as "Fairmont" with the approval of a post office. The postmaster was Samuel S. Peacock from April 19, 1883, until it closed August 30, 1906. It was located in a country store operated by Mr. Hedrick near where the railroad crosses Hwy 8 today. Within 10 years, however, the community had failed to thrive and the store closed, with the post office surrendering its charter.

Her father, Virgil Dale “Jim” Wolfe, was a farmer and operated a country store with her mother, Margaret Elizabeth “Libby” Wolfe (McDaniel). “Libby” was also the post mistress in Rago, Colorado.
In 1826, Larkin began his business career by establishing a country store in Upper Chichester Township. In 1832, Larkin purchased a freight vessel and established a shipping line on the Delaware River between Marcus Hook and Philadelphia until 1839 when he sold the vessel, wharf and business interest. In 1840, Larkin was elected Sheriff of Delaware County. From 1844 to 1846, Larkin represented Delaware County in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

Mr. Jim Smith owned and operated the store from 1916 until 1948. "Mr. Jim" was also one of the largest farmers in the area, and his farm still exists today as Smith Brothers Farm.

After the restoration the building became the home of Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Corporate Headquarters (CBRL Group, Inc.). The fraternity sold the Shadowwood Estate in 2005 to a private individual. An office was found on Wilson Pike Circle and the fraternity's offices moved there in 2007. In 2013, the fraternity sold the property on Wilson Pike Circle and purchased the Mitchell House in Lebanon, Tennessee from Cracker Barrel Old Country Store for use as its headquarters. It held the grand opening of the building on March 29, 2014.
Quorn, through investments by the Close brothers, later included a post office, country store, and social center. Quorn continued to grow to include a population of 300 to 400 people and multiple buildings on Main Street. A railroad was being built and the population of Quorn hoped that it would go through the village on its way to Sioux City, Iowa. However, the railroad did not go through Quorn.

The town consists of a church and multiple housing areas. There used to be a country store and gas station, but after SR 234 (Dumfries Road) was realigned and widened in 2005 it bypassed the town, and forced it to close.

Ruddell General Store, also known as the Country Store Museum, is a historic general store building located at Glenville, Gilmer County, West Virginia. It was built in 1890, and is a two-story, two bay, commercial building measuring 30 feet by 65 feet. The first story storefront is original material and design. It was occupied by a retail store until the 1970s, after which it was acquired by the West Virginia State Folk Festival, Inc.
In 1974, Freestone was deemed a historic district by the County of Sonoma, making it the first historic landmark designated by the County. The district comprises 30 properties, consisting mainly of residential and commercial buildings in the Greek Revival, Italianate and Queen Anne architectural styles. The Hind's Hotel was designated Landmark #2 in the County that same year, followed by the now-demolished Morgan Williams Residence, and the remaining Freestone Schoolhouse and Freestone Country Store.

The two buildings currently located at Wanker's Corner are the Wanker's Country Store and the Wanker's Corner Saloon and Cafe. Q. M. Pyne Store, also known as the Palisades Restaurant, is a historic country store located at Eggleston, Giles County, Virginia. It consists of two multi-story, brick masonry structures, attached side by side and embanked into a hillside. It was built in 1877 and expanded in the early 20th century. The building consists of a two-story, three bay, frame central block flanked by 1 1/2-story wings. The central block sits under a front gabled roof while the flanking wings have side gabled roofs.
Carrollton is named for the Carroll family, prominent landowners of the 19th century. The remaining home of the Carroll family is located at the intersection of Reynolds Drive and Norsworthy Drive, and is considered to have been in deteriorating condition for many years. At one time the home also is said to have served as the Carrollton Country Store. The Carroll home is one of only a handful of truly historic Carrollton homes.

When the introduction of diesel locomotives began to eliminate the need for helper engines to push trains over the Summit, Colton rapidly declined. By the 1950s most of the railroad operations were stopped and the buildings removed. The most noticeable remnant of Colton is the Hilltop Country Store, which was moved up to the highway in 1937 and is still in business. A few intact buildings and ruins are still found in the townsite itself.

Log cabin near Harrisonville Harrisonville is an unincorporated community located at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and Pennsylvania Route 655 in Licking Creek Township, Fulton County, Pennsylvania. It was named after the ninth U.S. President, William Henry Harrison. Located as a stopping point along the Lincoln Highway, a small country store still serves travelers today. In the 1850s it had two stores, a schoolhouse, one hotel, a blacksmith shop, and seven residents.
The town was named after James Barnes, who was the first settler. Barnes was born in Montgomery County, Maryland and was married to Nancy Harrison, "an intelligent Quaker lady". Barnes owned a farm in Montgomery County, and later laid out a town there, also known as Barnesville, Maryland, where he operated a country store for a while. The boring of the mine commenced in 1884 and the town surveyed and platted. Spring Valley did not grow from a crossroads country store or framehouse, it was planned with the hope it would grow to be a large city. Space was set aside for churches, schools and public buildings and broad streets were laid out. St. Paul Street became one of the widest streets in the state and in 1984 made even wider.
The Sweet Shop, formerly Larry's Sweet Shop, was a small popular country store located in Pleasant Ridge subdivision. It was the main store for years serving the projects area, and at one time served soft ice cream thru a walk-up window. Larry's Sweet Shop was a popular hang out for many young people who grew up in the projects. Many of these youths grew up to be Pillars of the community.
Bow Lake Village is a small unincorporated community in the town of Strafford, New Hampshire, located at the outlet of Bow Lake. The village is home to the Bow Lake Grange, Isinglass Country Store, Uncle George's Market (formerly the Blue Loon and Sheila's), the old Waldron Store (owned by the Strafford Historical Society) and the Bow Lake Inn. The village's main roads are New Hampshire Route 202A, which connects it to Northwood and Center Strafford, and Province Road.

The building was a two-story wood- frame structure built with local lumber a narrow, country-store style with an arched roof and a false front. A bracket-supported slope-roofed porch spanned the entire front of the building. Despite several efforts at restoration, the building was long since abandoned by January 1, 2009 when it collapsed from the weight of the snow from a major storm in the high elevation. All three jails in Irwinville were built around the same area as the courthouses and where Moorehead's Country Store presently stands. We know from historical records that the Oak trees that stand around Moorehead's were once used for the hangings of criminals jailed at the jailhouses and convicted at the old courthouses.

Osgood was a city in Cass County, North Dakota in the United States. The city was located on the east side of the Sheyenne River, three miles south of West Fargo. Osgood was founded in 1884 as "Garfield" (named in honor of the recently assassinated President James A. Garfield). The name was changed to "Osgood", in honor of the landowner who ceded the site to C.C. Furnberg, who located a country store and post office at the town site.
Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. is an American chain of combined restaurant and gift stores with a Southern country theme. The company was founded by Dan Evins in 1969; its first store was in Lebanon, Tennessee. The corporate offices are located at a different facility in the same city. The chain's stores were at first positioned near Interstate Highway exits in the Southeastern and Midwestern United States, but expanded across the country during the 1990s and 2000s.
The Heritage Park consists of of historic houses and other buildings that have been moved to the site. In 2013, there were a total of 11 historic buildings in the Heritage Park, most of which date to the 19th century and have been restored. They include a working blacksmith shop, a chapel, a country store, farmhouses, a gristmill, log houses, and a print shop. The Atkins House, the oldest brick building in the county, is also included.
There were plans to convert Locke into a housing development and tourist attraction. The goal of the Ross Farm Museum is to give visitors an understanding of the importance of Nova Scotia's rural heritage. Scherr is an unincorporated community in Grant County, West Virginia, United States. The community's name is pronounced like "sheer." Scherr lies to the west of the community of Greenland at the crossroads of West Virginia Route 42, West Virginia Route 93, and U.S. Route 48 (Corridor H). Scherr is home to a rock quarry, asphalt plant, and a small country store. The Scherr Formation is named after this town, and the type locality of the formation is here.
Bela was the tenth of eleven children of Lot Wellman and the third born to his second wife, Rebecca (Cole) Wellman. Lot was a cooper and a great-great-grandson of Puritan Thomas Wellman, who immigrated to the Massachusetts Bay Colony about 1640. Bela left home at age 12 to work on a farm in Plainfield, Connecticut. After farming through the summer, he was able to attend school through the winter and became a clerk in a country store.

Tredington is a small village in the parish of Stoke Orchard near Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire, England. The village has a church and a school and the Countrywide Country Store. The little church of St John the Baptist in Tredington is known for its wooden tower, a twelfth-century architectural plan, medieval stone benches, and the fossil of an ichthyosaurus displayed upon the floor of its porch. The steps, base and shaft of the churchyard cross are fourteenth century; the cross is modern.
The hamlet of Elmworth formed around Elmworth School District 3791, established in March 1919 and named after Elmworth, New Brunswick, home of settler Franklin Brewer. Classes began in a borrowed log cabin until the school could be built on the SE quarter of section 16, township 70, range 11, west of the 6th meridian. On December 1, 1920 a post office was opened in the Brewer home, and in 1927, the Brewers decided to add a country store to their services.

Kopp is an extinct unincorporated community located in Prince William County, Virginia. The town began in 1885 and consisted, at one time, of a country store, school, post office, and Bellehaven Baptist Church, and was the home to about 100 local farming families. The town ceased to exist in 1942 when the federal government added about to Marine Corps Base Quantico. The land upon which the residents of Kopp lived was purchased in what came to be known locally as "The Taking".

Several scenes of the 1974 Feature film The Sugarland Express directed by Steven Spielberg were filmed in Lone Oak. The scene where they stop at an old country store was filmed at the Lone Oak Grocery store. The scene where the news van runs off the road into the water was filmed along Loop 1604 a few miles south of Lone Oak. The character played by actress Goldie Hawn was said in the movie to come from the nearby town of Sayers, Texas.
Warren Lane was born at Sanbornton, N.H., the son of Daniel and Lydia (Lovejoy) Lane. He was the eldest of a family of three sons and two daughters, of whom he was the last survivor. His father died when he was quite young, leaving him the responsibility over his siblings. Lane moved to Hampstead, N.H. when he was about fourteen years of age and was apprenticed to a manufacturer and tanner, working as a clerk in a country store after that.
According to a genealogical posting, Charles M. Thacker was born January 17, 1866, and raised on his father's farm in Brunswick County, Virginia. His mother taught him at home until he was seven years old, when he began attending school until he was past nineteen years old. Chesapeake was the first town in Steuben Township, Warren County, Indiana, which was formed in 1834. It was located about two miles east of present-day town of Marshfield and was the site of the first meetings of the township trustees in the 1830s. County Agent Luther Tillotson lived south of the town and may have had some involvement in its creation. Chesapeake consisted of at least several houses, a country store operated by William Newell and Thomas Washburn, and a blacksmith shop.
The Hollis Country Store is a historic general store on Arkansas Highway 7 in rural Perry County, Arkansas. It is located on the west side of AR 7 in the Ouachita National Forest, a short way north of the South Fourche LaFave River Bridge. In addition to the store, the property includes a picnic shelter and two tourist cabins. The core of the store is a stone structure built in 1931–32, with most of the other parts added in the 1950s.
Huffman House, also known as Creekside Farm and Huffman Farm, is a historic home and farm located east of Newport in Craig County, Virginia. The farmhouse was built about 1835, with an addition and remodeling between 1907 and 1911. It is a two-story, single-pile center-hall plan, frame dwelling with a side gable roof. Also on the property are a contributing early-19th century barn, a corn crib, a wash house, a garage, and an early-20th century country store.
The property is an example of a small town center located along the Cumberland Gap Turnpike; a major transportation route of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The country store also held the local post office for a few years, provided sleeping quarters to travelers along the turnpike, and has served as a local Baptismal hole. The name was changed to Baldwin in honor of Dr. Abel Seymour Baldwin, the president of the Florida, Atlantic and Gulf Central Railroad, a railroad that ran from Lake City to Jacksonville. In 1842, Sampson Selby began marking packages for delivery to his country store, Selby-Ville. By 1918, Selbyville was the major supplier of strawberries for the entire east coast, an industry that remained strong until the 1930s. Today, one of its main employers is Mountaire Farms, a poultry company, which runs a processing plant on Hosier Street. This town is also home of the Mumford Sheet Metal Works, which once held the world record for the largest frying pan in 1950.

These businesses include the United States Post Office for area code 12136, the Old Chatham Country Store (which includes a cafe/restaurant), and Jackson's Old Chatham House (another restaurant). The Old Chatham Sheepherding Company is also located in Old Chatham. The Wilbor House, also known as The Thompson Farm, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
The post office at Grassy Point was re-established with Alfred M. Wiles as postmaster on April 14, 1871. In June 1831, the steamboat General Jackson, owned by Jacob Vanderbilt, and plying between New York and Peekskill, blew up at Grassy Point. The boat was later rebuilt and subsequently sold to David P. Mapes who used it on the Kingston-New York run. In 1845, O. C. Gerow opened a general country store in a building a few feet west of Proudfoot's house.

James Woodrow Lewis was a chief justice on the South Carolina Supreme Court. Lewis was born in the Swift Creek area of Darlington County, South Carolina on March 8, 1912. Although he began law school in 1931, economic conditions during the Depression forced him to return home to Swift Creek to run a country store owned by his father. He continued studying the law under the tutelage of a local lawyer, and he was admitted to practice on December 6, 1935.
Another nephew, Dan Evins, was the founder of the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurant chain. Evins graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1933 and the Cumberland School of Law in Lebanon, Tennessee in 1934, as well as The George Washington University.Joe L. Ruby Garrard Woodson (June 22, 1931 – February 8, 2008) was an educator and chemistry teacher, the founder of the Cromwell Academy in Washington, D. C., and the founder of the Florida Academy of African American Culture in Sarasota, Florida. She was born in Houston County, Alabama, but raised in Sarasota. Her mother, Ella Mae Garrard (later, Singleton) worked as a maid and later owned a small country store. Her father, David Garrard, was a farmer, and later a circus roustabout.
The town was originally named Fairview, but the railroad asked the community to change its name, due to more than one Fairview on the rail line. It is unknown when this happened, but thought to be in the late 19th century. A sawmill, coopers shop and country store was built on a 16-acre site prior to 1824. The Oakland Mills postal station opened on February 23, 1821, in the Howard district of Anne Arundel County. It operated until 1909, and the name was used again in 1974 when the land development company Rouse picked the name for one of its villages. The grist mill at Oakland Mills was built by Robert Oliver in 1826 on the site with the sawmill.
Brett's career as an illustrator and painter took off soon after his studies with Howard Pyle. His first professional achievement was as an illustrator in Harper's Weekly (Checkers at the Country Store). An example of Brett's keen sense of narrative and human form appeared on the cover of the June 2, 1906 issue of Harper’s Weekly in black and white. : In the oil painting, The Checkers Game, you see a provision shop where three men are engaged in a game of checkers.

In common with other similar villages in the Chiltern Hills properties have become increasingly sought after due to its location and the improvement in rail and road connections to London. It has a recently refurbished village shop, The Country Store (formerly the "Kedai"), and a local school, Bledlow Ridge School. Bledlow Ridge has a number of clubs such as 'Bridge' a youth club and a cricket club.
Harlan E. Boyles (May 6, 1929 - January 23, 2003) was a politician and public servant in North Carolina, who served as North Carolina State Treasurer from January 1977 to January 2001. Boyles grew up in Lincoln County, North Carolina, where his father farmed and owned a country store. As a boy, Boyles was afflicted with polio. He attended the University of Georgia and then transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned an accounting degree in 1951.
The original Romano's Macaroni Grill was founded in Leon Springs; however, the company closed down this branch after the second of two devastating floods in July 2002. It is also the site for the first Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q. The restaurant chain was created by a descendant of town founder Max Aue, Rudolph Aue. The community currently has two Public Elementary Schools, Leon Springs Elementary and Aue Elementary, as well as Baptist, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, and non-denominational churches.
Country Store in Macleay Macleay is an unincorporated community in Marion County, Oregon, United States, about nine miles east of downtown Salem in the Waldo Hills near the Little Pudding River. This locale was originally named "Stipp" for local settler John L. Stipp, whose land claim was just west of present-day Macleay. Stipp donated the land for what is now known as the Stipp Memorial Cemetery. Stipp post office was established in 1880, and the name changed to "Macleay" in 1882.
The courthouse complex existed on the current grounds of the Career Technical Center until it burned and was eventually moved to Russellville. Another interesting note is that the building that now exists as part of the After- School program at Belgreen High School was once a canning plant, one of the many businesses that once existed in Belgreen. Other businesses also included a second gas station and country store at the beginning of Highway 49, as well as a barber shop at the four-way intersection.

Born in "humble obscurity" in a remote country town, in part self-educated, she lived at a time when a learned woman in New England was a rarity. Suffering from ill-health, often poor and obliged to resort to various occupations for her sustenance, she doggedly pursued her studies. Her father, educated at Harvard College, kept a small country store, dealing among other things in books. He also boarded some students of divinity, from whom the daughter learned Greek and Latin, which she subsequently taught.
He launched a new concept in Watonga: the "Mini Stop Country Store". By adding a grocery line to their self-service fuel sales, Musket became one of the nation's first to offer one-stop shopping for travelers. The Mini Stop was successful and the company quickly opened more stores in western Oklahoma. In 1972, Musket set out to convert all of its locations from gas stations to convenience stores with self-serve gasoline. By 1973, the company began using the family name to identify its locations.
A new pedestrian breezeway was also constructed to connect smaller shops behind the shopping center. Stein Mart filed for bankruptcy on August 12, 2020 and plans to go out of business by the end of the year. The company announced that it would close the Town and Country store when that location runs out of inventory. Stein Mart's lease with Town and Country expires in 2023, but the space is expected to be made available to shopping center management once released by the bankruptcy court.
Plymouth Meeting Historic District is a national historic district that straddles Plymouth and Whitemarsh Townships in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. The adjacent Cold Point Historic District is north of it. The district encompasses 200 acres (81 ha) and includes 56 contributing buildings in the historic core of Plymouth Meeting. Among these are the separately-listed Plymouth Friends Meetinghouse (1708); Hinterleiter House (1714); Livezey House and Store (1740-1788); Hovenden House, Barn and Abolition Hall (1795, 1856); and Plymouth Meeting Country Store and Post Office (1827).
The team debuted at the 1982 Cracker Barrel Country Store 420 at Nashville Speedway USA with Bob Jarvis driving it as the No. 32 Clinomint Buick, finishing 28th out of 30 cars. Two races later, the No. 32 ran again at the World 600, with Bosco Lowe qualifying 40th and finishing 16th. Lowe drove the car in the Daytona 500 the following season, finishing 39th after a crash. Tommy Ellis drove their next race, bringing the Big Daddy's Buick to a 15th-place finish at Charlotte.
Despite trespassing, the natives gave them no trouble. In 1912, after John Hoyle's death, Alva Porter purchased much of John Hoyle's merchandise and he and his brother-in-law Thomas Shelley started a new store close to John Hoyle's old one. Alva eventually sold his share to Thomas who ran the store with his wife, Eva Tanner, until 1957. The store would later become the "Heber Country Store" and later "IGA Supermarket". In 1916, James, and Margaret Shelley returned to Joseph City, their final home.
A. A. Talmadge (April 25, 1834 - June 29, 1887), born Archibald Alexander Talmadge, was a 19th-century vice-president and general manager of the Wabash Railroad. Born in Warren County, New Jersey, of Scottish descent, his father was a Presbyterian minister. He worked in a country store in Goshen, New York, for several years beginning when he was fifteen. At the age of eighteen, Talmadge was appointed clerk in the freight department of the New York and Erie Railroad, where he remained for a year.
William B. Reily began his career in the grocery and packaged goods business in the late 1870s as a country store clerk in Bastrop, LA. After spending eight years in that position, Reily decided to open his own retail grocery store. Only two years later, Reily moved 25 miles south to Monroe, LA where he started the Southern Grocery Company, Inc., a wholesale grocery business. During this time he noticed the popularity of his coffee products and realized that he could create a profitable coffee roasting business.
Burns is back working later on and Trump has made him a trustee. Trump orders Burns to fill up the water pail while he goes in a country store to get a soda pop. Marcus had purchased the land in the late 1920s after working for a while in the coal mines of West Virginia before settling back in the Lambsburg community, a place he had known earlier in life perhaps being born there. For many years, no development came to the area in terms of larger commercial enterprises. Several small businesses have been in operation at various times. In recent years, a Love’s Travel Stop & Country Store opened in 2012 and a Dollar General store in January 2019.
All three are buried in Black Oak Cemetery, northwest of the townsite. The Canelo School was built in 1912 and remained open until 1948. Today the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was the home to Canelo Cowboy Church from April 16, 2006 until May 16, 2016. The building has also been used as a community center, country store and funeral home for burials in Black Oak Cemetery, which opened in 1917 on land allotted by the Forest Service.

The Saxon Lutheran Memorial in Frohna is dedicated to the preservation of the religious and cultural heritage of the 1839 Saxon Immigration to Missouri (daily, year- round). The memorial boasts two original log houses, a large log barn, a collection of tools and antique farm machinery, a visitor's center, country store and gift shop. In Altenburg, visit the Concordia Log Cabin College (1839), the Loeber Log Cabin (1839) and Trinity Lutheran Church (1867). The log cabin college was the first Lutheran Seminary west of the Mississippi River.

The Museum is dedicated to preserving the history the Town of Amherst, the Village of Williamsville and the Niagara Frontier. A site, the Museum includes 12 historic buildings moved from their original site, including homes, one-room schoolhouses, a barbershop, and a church; a main exhibit building; a collections storage facility; the Niederlander Research Library; and, the Country Store.

McFaul was born in Larne, County Antrim, to James and Mary (née Hefferman) McFaul. The family moved to the United States when he was only a few months old, residing in New York City for four years before settling in Bound Brook, New Jersey. He worked on his father's farm and at age fifteen he became a clerk at a country store near Bound Brook. With the intention of becoming a lawyer, he attended Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, from 1867 to 1871.
Simeon Benjamin was born on May 29, 1792, in Upper Aquebogue, in the Town of Riverhead, New York on Long Island. He was the third of eight children. Because Benjamin was considered a feeble child, he was allowed experience working as a clerk in a country store in Aquebogue. At age 16, he clerked for two years in a store on Broadway in New York City, then at the start of the War of 1812 returned to Aquebogue to open his own dry goods store there.
Miller's Store, also known as Trent House and General Store and Trenthouse Inn and Country Store, is a historic commercial building located at Trent in Middlecreek Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1885, and expanded about 1895. It is a large, 2 1/2-story, "U"-shaped, Queen Anne style building designed to house a general store, post office, and hotel. On the corner of the front facade is a two-story, hexagonal tower with a faceted conical roof and copper finial.
The house was built about 1870 for Robert Potter Carr, a prominent local businessman and politician, and is a remarkably high-style Italianate structure for a relative modest rural village setting. Carr was the owner of the local country store, which was established by his father. He is believed to be one of the first people in the town to engage in the business of ice harvesting on a commercial scale. Carr served for many years in the state legislature, and in county-level positions.
Nortonville owes its existence to the railroad industry and is named for Eckstein Norton, a Kentucky-born investment banker who started as a clerk in a country store in Russellville, Kentucky, in 1846. Norton participated in the creation of the Elizabethtown and Paducah Railroad in the late 1860s (east- west tracks). He then purchased of land in what would become "Norton Village", later changed to "Nortonville" around 1900. Norton became a shipping agent for the Illinois Central Railroad, which eventually acquired the Elizabethtown & Paducah Railroad.
Jacob Hoke (March 17, 1825 - December 26, 1893) was a 19th-century American merchant and businessman in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, whose personal observations and diary entries formed the basis for one of the earliest classic accounts of the Gettysburg Campaign during the American Civil War. He was also a prolific writer of widely circulated religious materials for the United Brethren Church. Hoke was born in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, to Henry and Sarah (Eyster) Hoke. He was educated in the local schools and, from the age of twelve until May 1841, clerked in a country store.

Glorious Day - Hymns of Faith is an album by Christian rock band Casting Crowns. It was released in 2015 and contains Casting Crowns' Until the Whole World Hears singles "Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me)" and "Blessed Redeemer", acoustic versions of "If We Are the Body" and "Praise You In This Storm", as well as eight hymns, mostly covers. The album peaked at No. 52 on Billboard 200, staying one week in the charts. The album has also been contributed to the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Exclusive Music Program.
The building was re-opened as a history museum in 1987; named after the Three Notch Trail of which two streets (East Three Notch Street and South Three Notch Street) in Andalusia are also named. Operated by the Covington Historical Society, the museum focuses on County history and area railroad history. Displays include many photographs, a bottle collection, historic cameras and accessories, tools and military artifacts. Other buildings in the museum include a restored post office with a period schoolroom in back, a pioneer log cabin and a country store.

Visitors can experience history on an 1890s living history farm, complete with an old farmhouse, smokehouse, cane mill, and syrup shed, as well as sheep, mules, cows, chickens, goats and pigs. There is a Victorian gazebo, a one-room schoolhouse, a drugstore and soda fountain, a country store, and a turn-of-the-century church. Landmark Park also has an elevated boardwalk, nature trails, picnic areas, a playground and an interpretive center with a state-of-the-art "digitarium" (planetarium). Special events include folklife festivals, antique car shows, traveling exhibits, concerts and workshops year-round.

New Harbour has two bakeries, Harnum's Bakery, located on Harbour Drive, and Pitcher's Bakery, located on Route 80, which also has a gas station and take out. At one point there was a pharmacy that shared a building with a flower shop and a general practitioners office, but as of the end of 2017, all three businesses have since closed down. New Harbour also has a new Dental Office and Day Care Center which share the same building. The Inside Scoop Country Store is located on Westside Road.
By 1855, he moved with his family to the future Palo Pinto County, Texas, where he ran a country store and ranched on Keechi Creek. By 1857, he owned a thousand acres (4 km²) of land. To market his large herd, Loving drove them out of Texas and in that same year he entrusted his nineteen-year-old son, Joseph, to drive his and his neighbors' cattle to Illinois up the Shawnee Trail. Highway 75 runs through the town, making it relatively accessible to travelers. Clinton is situated adjacent to beautiful Eli Lake. Every year, the world's longest lasting ice golf tournament, the Arctic Open, takes place on this lake.
Wanker's Country Store Stafford was named by George A. Steel, a prominent Portland pioneer, after his hometown of Stafford, Ohio, in the 1860s. The Stafford School opened in the community in 1892, and the following year the Eastside Electric Railway owned by Steel reached the area. In 1895, the Wanker family moved to the area and bought land where they built a store and tavern, an area later to become Wankers Corner at the intersection of Stafford Road and Borland Road. It has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names.
Egremont was settled in the mid-18th century, in a basically dispersed rural agricultural pattern. The village of North Egremont began to take shape after a turnpike (now Prospect Lake Road) was built between Hillsdale, New York and Alford, Massachusetts, and another (now Route 71) was built between South Egremont and Kinderhook, New York in 1803. A tavern was built in the area in 1790, and it was served by saw and grist mills on nearby Prospect Lake. A general store opened in 1814; it is still in operation as the Old Egremont Country Store.
Yonkers began receiving mail regularly when the Albany Post Road was completed shortly after the Revolution. At that time it was delivered to Philipse Manor, a short distance from the location of the present building. In 1788 mail began being delivered to Old Hunt's Tavern nearby; it was replaced nine years later, in 1797, by the first official post office in the country store of Yonkers' first postmaster, Alpheus Pierson, on the block where the current building is. In 1863 free delivery began. In the late 19th century Yonkers began growing rapidly.
In Charters Towers, Queensland the long established Pollard's Store became a Fosseys and is now, most likely the only Target or Target Country store which features leadlight windows. Former Store Formats Urban by Target Urban by Target was a format tried by Target initially at South Yarra, Victoria at The Jam Factory, after taking over a closed Virgin Megastore. The format was introduced in 2010, with a second location opened in 2011, at Flemington, Victoria at Flemington Village. A third location was also opened in 2011, at Pasadena, South Australia, at Pasadena Shopping Centre.
Restaurants hosting sampling at the annual school event included such established Chandler eateries as Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q, FrinGo's Puerto Rican Kitchen, The Hungry Monk and Which Sandwiches. Other well-known restaurants such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Dunkin’ Donuts, Krispy Kreme and Hungry Howie's Pizza also joined the festival, which served as a fundraiser for the Cardon Children's Hospital NICU at Banner Desert Samaritan Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. Proceeds from the event were delivered by El Dorado students to the children's hospital, as part of the school's community service commitment.
After many violent Klan outrages happened in Monterey and Guestville (Henry County) in 1870, Russell was assigned by the US Marshal service to investigate undercover. Russell, who posed a cashier of a country store in northern Owen County, was approached by four men (George Hoover, John Robinson, a man named Lockart, and Benjamin Moreland) who asked Russell to join the "Kuklux" to drive "the negroes" and "all Radicals who were in favor of negroes" from Kentucky. Russell declined. Later, these men came to Russell's store and bought some sheets for their gowns and hoods.
No. 2 LIVE Dinner is an album of live music by Texas-based folk singer- songwriter Robert Earl Keen, released in the United States on March 19, 1996. It was his last studio album for Sugar Hill Records, a label he had been with since 1984. After that album's release, Robert Earl Keen left for Arista Records in 1997. The performances are from two different dates, the first fourteen tracks (11 songs, described as "Dinner" in the CD Liner notes) were recorded at Floores Country Store in Helotes, TX on August 12, 1995.
In 1969, after a concert at Floore's Country Store in Helotes, Texas, a drunk man stepped on Nelson's Baldwin, breaking it beyond playability. David Zettner and Jimmy Day, members of Nelson's band The Record Men, took the guitar to Shot Jackson, a luthier in Nashville, Tennessee. Jackson, who considered the damage irreparable, offered Nelson a Martin N-20 nylon-stringed classical guitar made out of Brazilian rosewood with a Sitka spruce top (serial number 242830). Nelson instructed Jackson, during a phone conversation, to move the pickup from the Baldwin to the Martin.
The first business at that crossroads was a trading post and country store operated by Marre and Allen. The site of the railroad crossing was notable for its proximity to nearby deposits of iron ore, coal, and limestone – the three main raw materials used in making steel. From the start the new city was planned as a center of industry.
Clouette writes, "The Gurdon Bill Store is the best preserved early 19th-century store known in Connecticut. There are earlier store buildings and more elegant ones, but it would appear that the Bill Store is unique in retaining so many of its original features intact, particularly in the interior." It was submitted to the National Historic Register of Places under criteria A for being a "country store" which supplied items that local farmers needed, but could not produce or manufacture. The building also was submitted for its well-adapted and well-preserved architectural integrity.
In late 1942, the Navy chose a site in the San Joaquin Valley, 71 miles southeast of NAS Alameda, for an auxiliary air station. An 804-acre parcel of land was purchased for $86,708, and ground was broken on December 1, 1942. The site was located near the agricultural community of Crows Landing, with a 1940 population of 363, which consisted of a gas station, country store, and a freight train stop. During construction, the project was known as NAAF Patterson for the nearest post office, six miles to the north.
Cracker Barrel was founded in 1969 by Dan Evins, a sales representative for Shell Oil, who developed the restaurant and gift store concept initially as a plan to improve gasoline sales. Designed to resemble the traditional country store that he remembered from his childhood, with a name chosen to give it a Southern country theme, Cracker Barrel was intended to attract the interest of highway travelers. The first restaurant was built close to Interstate 40, in Lebanon, Tennessee. It opened in September 1969, serving Southern cuisine including biscuits, grits, country ham, and turnip greens.
A Cracker Barrel in Minnesota The company grew consistently through the 1980s and 1990s, attaining a $1 billion market value by 1992. In 1993, the chain's revenue was nearly twice that of any other family restaurant. In 1994, the chain tested a carry-out-only store, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Corner Market, in suburban residential neighborhoods. In addition, it expanded into new markets through the establishment of more traditional Cracker Barrel locations, the majority of them outside the South, and tested alterations to its menus to adapt to new regions.
The Apple Barrel Country Store began to collect donations for local first responders, a mostly volunteer organization, and planned a vigil to honor the victims at the store on October 9. The family that owns it said it was establishing a non-profit organization to build a permanent memorial at the crash site next to the store. They hoped it could be completed by the first anniversary of the crash. The 20 wooden crosses placed at the site as a temporary memorial were donated to the state museum in September 2019.
Mum was the first brand of commercial deodorant. The group has re-recorded the song several times since its original release. In 2009, a live version was released on the group's "A Gospel Journey" DVD and CD. This version includes a guest appearance from Tim Duncan on bass vocals for one line. In 2011, in recognition of the 30th anniversary of the group's original recording, a new version was recorded and released on "It's Only Natural", an album released exclusively through Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. The new version was produced by the original's producer, Ron Chancey.
The house was destroyed in September 1905 in a fire that also consumed two hotels and their barns, the country store, and another dwelling house. An old story which still proves to be a mystery today is of the Joseph Bonaparte residence. Mariana Lake is an unincorporated community in northern Alberta within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, located on Highway 63, southwest of Fort McMurray. A gas station, gift shop, and a convenience store (known as Mariana Lakes Country Store) used to exist in Mariana Lake. This business provided the only fuel, food, and washrooms between Wandering River and Fort McMurray along Highway 63. In September 2008, it was announced that the government of Alberta would be purchasing the land that the store was on to make way for the twinning of Highway 63.
On August 12, it was announced that the event would be available for purchase in the United Kingdom on ITV Box Office and the one hour "Buy In" pre-show would air live on ITV4. On August 27, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store was announced as the title sponsor for one of the event's matches. On August 30, the day before All Out, TNT aired a one-hour television special called Countdown to All Out. There were 390,000 views for this television show, which promoted viewing All Out via B/R Live.
Local bus services stopped there and small traders selling corn on the cob and other travel- related foods did a brisk trade when the buses stopped. Rufus Paul noted that it was a point at which there was a need for a filling station and a country store. He applied to the Native Commissioner for a permit to build both and homes for himself and his staff, the NC allowed this, and for a small annual rent, GBP4.00, a four-acre plot was allocated and Paul's Ngundu Store was born. This was about 1948.

His father, Daniel L. Salmon, died in 1851 and his mother, Eleanor Flock Salmon, died in 1859, leaving him an orphan at the age of 8. He was then raised by his second cousin, Aaron Howell Salmon, spending time working both on Aaron's farm and as a clerk at a country store. In 1908, Gugger sold his property to Bert Hileman, who opened the town's first dance hall. He was also instrumental in getting old Bandera Road paved and opening the town's first filling station. He sold his property in downtown Helotes in 1919, when the town's population declined. In 1946, the manager of San Antonio's Majestic Theatre, John T. Floore, opened the landmark John T. Floore Country Store, which is actually a dance hall (or "honky tonk") that draws top country music talent, including Willie Nelson, who still plays the venue on occasion.
Helotes' historic Zion Lutheran Church When Helotes incorporated in 1981, very little was in the town. Now with a population over 7,000, Helotes is becoming one of the most desirable suburbs of San Antonio. Helotes itself includes the newly renovated Old Town Helotes. Completed in 2011, Old Town Helotes is the revitalized downtown, which includes John T. Floore's Country Store, All That Glitters, L&M; Feed and Supply, Mander Automotive Service, First Baptist Church of Helotes, Elf Hardware, Helotes Tactical Firearms, Helotes Creek Winery, and El Chaparral Mexican Restaurant.
A year later, one of the most notable fires in the village happened at about 10 pm on January 22, 1982, in the village central business district. The fire began in the basement of Briarcliff Stationers and destroyed the Briarcliff Country Store, Briar Rose, and the Shoe Bazaar. More than a hundred Briarcliff Manor, Pleasantville, and Ossining firefighters assisted to control the fire, which continued to burn at heights of 30–40 feet at midnight, but was under control by 1:30 am. Damage was estimated at about $500,000 ($ today).
The Guilford Country Store is set on the east side of the junction of Coolidge Highway and Guilford Center Road, in the center of Guilford's main village. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a side gable roof, clapboard siding, and a foundation that is mainly stone. It is set close to the road, with its main facade facing west toward the road. The front is a symmetrical five bays wide, and the former main entrance has simple Federal period styling, with sidelight windows and a simple cornice.
Teeland's Country Store, also known as Herning's and Knik Trading Company, is a historic retail establishment located at the corner of East Herning Avenue and North Boundary Street in Wasilla, Alaska. The oldest portion of this wood frame building is a log structure at the back whose construction dates to 1905. Originally located at Knik, this log structure, then also used as a store, was moved to the newly established town of Wasilla in 1917 by its builder, O. G. Herning. Herning also built the present utilitarian wood frame structure, which still operates today.
After sitting vacant for many years, the house was acquired in 1919 by George Higgins and the house was given a painstaking restoration. Higgins originally claimed the house to date to the 17th century; this is not supported by the architecture or documentary record. and George Higgins, in addition to restoring the house, built a variety of outbuildings, giving the property a rustic rural feel. The buildings he built include a barn, wellhouse, guest house, and country store, all essentially in a Colonial Revival interpretation of a colonial Cape Cod farmstead.
Helmer's Country Store, established in an old building in Forest in 2013 Forest Baptist Church at 138 Clover Street Forest is a village in West Carroll Parish in northeastern Louisiana, United States. The population was 275 at the 2000 census. Forest Police Chief James Robert "Bob" Smith (Independent; born June 1931), with service since 1998 is the oldest elected official in the State of Louisiana, as of 2017. After thirty years as a mechanic for the United States Air Force, Smith began a civilian career with International Oil Company, based in Saudi Arabia.
The birth of the town was the product of the rapid settlement of the farming and ranching land in the area, but it was also fuelled by the discovery of coal. Homesteader Henry Therriualt opened the first coal mine in the area in 1906, and soon farmers were travelling from neighbouring towns (including Nanton and Stavely) to purchase coal from the Therriault mine. Their journey took them through the Clever homestead to reach the mine, and soon Martin Clever realized the business opportunity that presented itself. Soon, a country store and a mail route were established.
Fairfield in 1962 still had the remains of the old mill and the pillars from the old covered bridge. Fairfield had a post office with the town bar in the same building, side by side. There also was an old country church on the north end of town and a bait shop in the center of town with a walkway to the banks of the river bank and the docks that provided john boat rentals. There was a small local country store with food, hardware and clothing, as well as a gasoline station with a repair garage.

The titular minister is not depicted in this particular slice of small-town life. Beginning in 1960, Flessel drew a Hall Syndicate comic strip about a young minister, David Crane, created by Ed Dodd in 1956 and originally produced by artist Win Mortimer and writer Hart Spence. In 1993, Flessel donated the original art for 2,677 strips to the Ohio State University Cartoon, Graphic and Photographic Arts Research Library. After David Crane ceased publication in 1971, Flessel unsuccessfully attempted several other strips, including Cy Poppins, about the owner of a country store; Willie Wildwood, an environmentally aware strip; and The Other Foot.
Biographer Robert A. Caro notes, "the town had no telegraph; it had been given its name because telegraph poles had been cut from trees near there during the 1850s." Ruth Holmes was appointed the first postmaster, when Telegraph was assigned a post office on February 17, 1900. By the 1890, ranches were established in the surrounding area of the Texas Hill Country. During the 1920s, camping on the river near Telegraph was a popular vacation spot for campers, hunters, and fishermen, with the only building of the town serving as the residence/country store/post office (which closed in 2009).
The Red Door Country Store, at the corner of Norwood Road and Ednor Road, was a general store owned by Marie E. Smith that had a scale on which farmers weighed their grain. The store also served as a post office after the closure of the post office in nearby Ednor, Maryland. Norwood sign on the Intercounty Connector Norwood as a toponym is largely unused and this lack of use gained local prominence due to the use of "Norwood" as one of two "key destinations" listed on signs for the Layhill Road interchange on the ICC (Exit 10).Katherine Shaver.
The song was originally a poem written by singer Jim Morrison about the street in the Laurel Canyon section of Los Angeles, California, where he lived with his girlfriend Pamela Courson and watched hippies pass by. The lyrics end on an ambiguous note with the line "I guess I like it fine so far." The song is noted for Morrison's spoken narration, which occurs in the middle of the composition: Morrison refers to the Canyon Country Store across the street from his house. Morrison also wrote the Waiting for the Sun album and much of The Soft Parade at the residence.
Fatty, a butcher boy in a country store, is in love with Almondine (Alice Lake), the daughter of the store's general manager Mr. Grouch. Fatty's attempts to get close to her are sidetracked when the store's clerk Alum (Al St. John), a rival for Alice's affections, starts a fight with the rotund butcher. Their confrontation in the store soon involves a customer (Buster Keaton) as well as Grouch. The resulting mayhem includes small bags of flour being hurled and "exploding", pies being tossed, and brooms being wildly swung amid the thick clouds of flour lingering in the air.
Cumberland Records is an independently owned label in Nashville, TN. It was started in 1988 by 3 musicians, Mark Howard, Alisa Jones, and Ron Wall. It specializes in Old Time Acoustic Instrumental Music, and was one of the first labels to offer music in what is now known as the "gift market". Cumberland produced over 50 CD's ranging from old time classics like "Church In The Wildwood" to Big Band CD's and Irish selections. Cumberland had a long-running display in Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, and produced an exclusive series of another 60 or so classic artist compilations called American Music Legends.
Bartlett was born in Stratford, New York in 1844 to parents Aaron and Delia Dibeli Bartlett.Who's who in America, Volume 5, by John William Leonard & Albert Nelson Marquis, published 1908 When he was ten years old his father died and his mother relocated to Salisbury Center, New York where he attended school until he was sixteen years old. He completed his education by attending Danville Institute for one year and Clinton Liberal Institute for an additional two. After finishing school, Bartlett worked one winter as a school teacher and one summer as a clerk in a country store.
In 1737, he was appointed Ranger of Ulster County, which included Coldenham, where he ran a country store that sold general merchandise. In 1751, he was appointed Joint Surveyor General of the Province of New York with his father, and succeeded him in that office in 1761 to 1762, at which point he moved from Newburgh, New York to New York City, where he served as Postmaster of New York City for a number of years. Colden was one of the founders and an original member of the Saint Andrew's Society of the State of New York, serving as president from 1764–1766.
Jones was born to James and Hester Jones. His father ran a country store and tavern and later became a successful merchant with many contacts to England. Jones was educated nearby but went to England to continue his education; he went to the Inner Temple in London in 1749 and the Middle Temple in 1751, becoming a barrister. Jones then returned to Virginia and achieved success as a lawyer in the growing town of Fredericksburg. In 1754, Jones become King's attorney for Fredericksburg. In 1758, he married Mary Taliaferro, the daughter of Colonel John Taliaferro of Spotsylvania County.
When he was twenty he decided to move to Morris, went home to continue school for a brief period, and in 1844 he returned to Morris where he was to live for the rest of his life. There he opened a country store, serving also as postmaster. In 1846 he raised a company of volunteers for the Mexican War and was named captain, but the unit was not mustered into service as the Illinois quota had been met by the time word of their organization reached the governor. In December 1846 he married Mary Borbridge, originally of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The deed was recorded in 1942 at the request of Cora Everhart, a Santa Cruz County superintendent who taught in many of the one-room schoolhouses in southern Arizona. The Canelo School first opened in September 1912 with about twenty attendees and closed in 1948, when the number of students declined to just one. The first school teacher was Miss Fern Bartlett, a twenty-year-old woman who rode her horse eight miles to get to the schoolhouse every morning. Since its closing, the schoolhouse has served the people in the Canelo area as a community center, country store, church, and funeral home.
Outside of that, Cattaraugus's economy mostly capitalizes on its location far away from most major municipalities (the nearest city of more than 10,000 is more than away in any direction). The only national franchise in Cattaraugus is a Dollar General, which opened in 2010. Other businesses include the Bank of Cattaraugus (founded 1882, considered the first bank in the region), P & C Gas Measurement Service, a Brooks Market grocery store (now closed), Jenny Lee Country Store, Pritchard's Hardware, and the Corner Drug Store pharmacy. The village's only automobile dealership, Illig Chevrolet Pontiac, closed in 2008 as a result of the General Motors bankruptcy.
Cheerwine is currently available in much of the southeastern United States, from West Virginia south to Florida, but is better known in the Carolinas and Virginia. Other spots to find Cheerwine are the many "specialty soda" stores throughout the country, as well as WinCo Foods in Washington state, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurants, Sheetz convenience stores in Ohio and Pennsylvania, and overseas, in Oslo, Norway. It is sold either as a single bottle or as a pack of four. In April 2005, other regions of the United States began to bottle Cheerwine, mainly through Pepsi distributors.

Prior to 1866, when the first paper mill was built, Roaring Spring had been a grist mill hamlet with a country store at the intersection of two rural roads that lead to the mill near the spring. A grist mill, powered by the spring water, had operated at that location since at least the 1760s. After 1867, as the paper mill expanded, surrounding tracts of land were acquired to accommodate housing development for new workers.

Rudy's was established by Rudolph Aue in Leon Springs, Texas (now a part of San Antonio, Texas) in 1929 as a combination business consisting of a filling station, automobile repair shop, and grocery store. In 1989 Rudolph added barbecue to the food menu, combining the grocery and new restaurant element to make a "country store" feel. Their signature barbecue consists of 100% oak wood smoked meats rather than the usual Texas Mesquite smoke, and special in-house spices. Rudy's later expanded to 47 locations through the states of Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico.
May is the hometown of one of the major characters of Stephen King's The Stand, the mentally retarded Tom Cullen, who meets the deaf-mute drifter Nick Andros after Cullen gets drunk and passes out in the middle of the road. Andros mistakenly believes Cullen is dead and careens off his bike. King's version of May is markedly different from the real thing, as he presents it as a small town that includes a number of businesses and homes. In reality the town is much smaller; there is a single business, May Country Store, that sells food, fuel, and cold beer.
Fisher settled in Lewes, Delaware, near Cape Henlopen, regularly attending Quaker Meeting. He learned to make hats from animal skins, started a hat-making business, and established an active trade with the local Indians in pelts of beaver and other small animals. He developed a transatlantic trade and sold many pelts to customers in England. In Lewes he opened a large inn and country store, which was frequented by many pilots and ship captains because Lewes was the first port at the mouth of Delaware Bay and a good location to learn about the channel to Philadelphia.
Nance-Major House and Store is a historic home and country store located across from the Charles City County Courthouse at Charles City, Charles City County, Virginia. The Nance-Major Store was built about 1872, and is a two- story, three-bay, gable-front frame building, supported by a brick pier foundation. The Nance-Major House was built about 1869, and is an "L"-shaped, 2 1/2-half story, post-and-beam-frame dwelling covered with painted horizontal weatherboard. It has a steeply-pitched, front-gabled roof and features a two- story, three-bay, full-width porch.
Manada Hill is a historic village named for its hilltop location near a bend in the Manada Creek. It was the only true village of the township, containing a post office and a few stores and shops to supply the surrounding neighborhood. Traveling peddlers provided incidental needs before the establishment of the country store. Three churches surrounded the community within a radius of three miles (5 km): a small Lutheran congregation; to the southeast the German Baptists built a church taken over in 1860 by the Hanoverdale Church of the Brethren; and to the northeast, the Zion Lutheran Church.

Plumas' motto was chosen to be "Proud to be Prairie," which clearly matches the community's character and location. In the centre of the community (at intersection of Anderson Street and Burrows Avenue), stands a tower, which was formerly the town streetlight and fire/tornado siren. The KickAss Country Store, located on Burrows Avenue, is a quilting and fabric specialty store unique to Manitoba, offering material that cannot be found in Brandon, or even in downtown Winnipeg. Hunting is a popular outdoor activity in autumn around the Plumas area, attracting bird and game hunters from across Canada and the United States.
As a young child he worked on the family farm and as a carpenter, and also attended school in East Granby, CT. The family moved to Plainville, Connecticut, where he attended school for a year, then worked at country store. In 1879 his family moved to Holyoke, Massachusetts, where he worked with his father as a carpenter. Eventually Alderman realized that he really desired to be an architect and to that end he entered the office of James A. Clough, architect, of Holyoke, where he worked for 5 years. He then moved to Chicago, Illinois where he found work in the offices of Cass Chapman, a prominent architect.
As its catalog mailing list grew, the store gained national attention with the publication of a 1952 article in the Saturday Evening Post by Edward Shenton entitled, "The Happy Shopkeeper of the Green Mountains". At the time, The Saturday Evening Post had a readership of several million people and was one of the most widely read publications in America. The feature article yielded The Vermont Country Store unprecedented exposure to a national audience, resulting in tens of thousands of inquiries from people all over the country, eager to visit the store. Vrest was quick to capitalize on this new-found publicity and began expanding the store.
Target Country Fosseys Target Country Fosseys was established in 1926 at George Street, Sydney by Alfred Bristow Fossey and grew to 148 stores throughout Australia, with an annual turnover of $300 million. As part of the acquisition of Grace Bros, which had purchased JB Young's of Queanbeyan who owned Fossey's, Myer and later Coles Myer came to own Fossey's. Coles Myer used the Fosseys brand to unify a range of smaller variety stores trading under a range of other names, including Coles Variety stores, which had been the foundation of GJ Coles & Coy Ltd. A Target Country store formerly Fossey's store in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.

He often bickers with Vilmer's wife Darla, stating that before she entered the family, it was Walter who "put things together", referring to the murders. Walter appears to own a gas station/country store and an old pickup truck.

The family that owns the Apple Barrel Country Store told reporters that the intersection and hill are a recurring issue. Sumwalt confirmed to the media that his agency will be looking at the configuration of the junction as a possible contributing factor. "We do know that there have been other crashes at this intersection," he said. "[S]o we want to see: Were there factors in the roadway itself that could have led to the conditions of this crash?" The intersection was originally configured as a Y, slightly uphill of its present location, which was more developed in the early 20th century and today's Route 30A was part of NY 43.
After that, Joey Janela, Darby Allin, and Jimmy Havoc competed in a three-way hardcore match sponsored by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, dubbed the Cracker Barrel Clash. Early in the match, Janela and Allin duct-taped Havoc to a chair, put thumbtacks in his mouth and taped it shut. Later, Allin attempted a suicide fall with the sponsor's barrel positioned on top of Havoc, who was laying on steel steps, but Havoc moved, causing Allin to crush through the barrel on top of the steel steps. In the end, Havoc performed an Acid Rainmaker through a barrel on Janela to win the match.
Many of the stores and tenants that are located in Ko Olina Station and Center were designed to resemble rural Hawaii. Island Country Market, the center's grocery store owned by ABC Stores, is modeled after a Hawaiian "rural country store". Jessica Goolsby of MidWeek described the store as a "fresh-market concept" with "high- quality foods" that contributes to a "one-of-a-kind shopping experience". The mall is located next to the old Oahu Railway and Land Company tracks, which originally hauled freight and passengers to the North Shore of Oahu; this location influenced the overall design of the center, incorporating the "historic" feel of the railroads.
Born in Groton, Massachusetts, Lawrence was the son of Samuel Lawrence, a Revolutionary War officer, and one of the founders of Groton Academy (now Lawrence Academy at Groton), where Amos was educated. Samuel was in turn descended from John Lawrence of Wissett in Suffolk, England, who was one of the first settlers of Groton. In 1799, Amos Lawrence became a clerk at a country store in Dunstable, Massachusetts, and a few months afterward was promoted to a variety store in Groton run by a Mr. Brazer. After the completion of his apprenticeship, in April 1807, Amos went to Boston with $20 of his savings.
It housed the general store and post office on its first floor and a town hall on the second floor along with a dance hall. As time went by, the town hall became smaller and smaller as the building was used for additional purposes until it was finally torn down for salvageable lumber in the early 1940s. In the evenings, families would gather on the front porch of the general store; the parents talking and their children playing out on the lawn in front of the store. After the first country store became vacant in 1946, it was bought in an auction by Brice P. Selby.
In the early 1950s and 1960s, Johnston fished and was co-owner of a lobster-packing operation, he travelled throughout the province selling farm equipment, operated a cattle and grain operation on the family farm in his home community, and was a carpenter. In 1965 he purchased a small country store, which he operated with his wife and children, and two years later he opened a tent and trailer park. Johnston first attempted to enter provincial politics in the 1974 election, but was defeated by Liberal candidate Waldron Lavers. Johnston ran again in the 1978 election, defeating Lavers by 49 votes to become councillor for the electoral district of 5th Kings.
Georgia Southern University and thousands of friends, family, and fans gathered at Paulson Stadium to mourn the passing of Erk Russell, one of America's most exciting and successful college football coaches. The cause of death was a stroke while pulling out of a gas station (The Country Store) on the west side of Statesboro off of Cyprus Lake road. He frequented the store daily and was commonly seen there daily playing scratch off lotto tickets and smoking a cigar while sitting at a table with friends. He greeted fellow customers with a friendly smile and handshake that some say was much stronger than a man his age should have had.
On August 3, severe thunderstorms produced three tornadoes that caused damage in parts of Ontario. The strongest tornado of the event caused EF2 damage as it mowed down large swaths of trees and struck the small village of Kinmount, where 12 homes sustained varying degrees of roof damage and broken windows, and some were damaged by fallen trees. A cross was torn from the roof of a church in town, and a few garages and outbuildings were destroyed, with debris scattered through a neighborhood and wrapped around trees and telephone wires. An EF0 tornado also struck the small community of Camden East, where an older brick building had its roof blown off and thrown into a nearby country store.

The mill was operated the last time around 1942 by Lowell S. Terrell, F. L.'s son. Besides the grist mill, F. L. Terrell operated a saw mill, a syrup mill, a cotton gin, a country store, a farm, and served as justice of the peace. John C. Terrell built his mill about 1858 which was located on the Flint River approximately where the present Delta Airlines Jet Base is located at the Atlanta Airport. This mill was later known as Stark's Mill on the property of Stark's Dairy. John C. Terrell moved from Pike County Georgia before 1858 to build a mill for Alexander Lynn Huie north of Pineridge Road in Forest Park on Jesters (Murcheons) Creek.
One of the main buildings in the museum collection is its general store, Amos Straw Country Store, a fine Greek Revival structure with a meeting hall on the second floor constructed in the 1850s. Connected with the store is a large center aisle threshing floor-type barn used for exhibition of artifacts. There are five buildings at the site of the National Register of Historic Places. Other buildings in the collection include the William Durgin House and ell (1813), Durgin Barn, Letterpress Printing Shop, One-Room Schoolhouse (Replica of the 1839 Fenderson Schoolhouse, Parsonsfield), an 1870s Cider Mill, Johnathan Pike Cooperage, Granary, Hands- On History Building, Tom Flagg Smithy (moved from Lincolnville, ME), and others.
For 2001, Childress planned to run Harvick in the No. 2 Chevy in the Busch Series full-time again, while developing him into the Winston Cup Series with up to seven races in the No. 30 Chevy. He planned to race Harvick for a full schedule in 2002. The death of Dale Earnhardt on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500 changed Childress's plans, and Harvick began his first Cup race the following week in the Dura Lube 400 at Rockingham. On March 11, 2001, in the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, only three weeks after Earnhardt's death, Harvick won his first career Winston Cup race in just his third start by narrowly edging Jeff Gordon.
CommunityViz began as an idea in the late 1990s when Noel Fritzinger and his friend Lyman Orton, proprietor of the Vermont Country Store and long-term member of his town’s local planning board, first envisioned a software tool that would make the planning process more accessible to ordinary citizens. After forming the Orton Family Foundation, they recruited a consultant team to develop the idea. The initial team included The Environmental Simulation Center, Fore Site Consulting, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Multigen-Paradigm, and Green Mountain GeoGraphics. The first commercial version was released in late 2001 and included three components: Scenario Constructor for interactive analysis, SiteBuilder 3D (OEMed from MultiGen-Paradigm) for 3D visualization, and Policy Simulator for agent-based modeling of future outcomes resulting from present- day policy decisions.

In the front right are two black on white signs with the numbers "30" and "30A" on them The vehicle continued into the parking lot of the nearby Apple Barrel Country Store where it struck a parked 2015 Toyota Highlander, which in turn struck two pedestrians in the lot who were attempting to get away, and then came to a stop in a gully. The store manager told reporters that customers in the store parking lot were killed when the limo sped down the hill "probably over ". Later it emerged that two pedestrians in the parking lot were killed after being struck by the Highlander, which was driven into a drainage ditch away. All 18 people in the limousine were killed.
VT 103 is a major arterial road for Vermont, being the most direct path from Boston and southeastern New England to Rutland and the Green Mountains ski areas and attractions. Although U.S. Route 4 is a shorter and slightly better road across the Green Mountains to Rutland, it is a direct east-west road intersecting Interstate 91 significantly north of the diagonal 103. Numerous proposals to widen 103 into a two-lane freeway or similar limited-access roadway have failed, even though a substantial power company right of way shadows the road for much of its length. Vermont Country Store location on VT 103 VT 103 begins at U.S. Route 5 in Rockingham just east of Interstate 91 and just north of Bellows Falls.
The song's narrator is a man who is selling turnips at a roadside stand. A beautiful woman pulls up in a car, asking the man for directions to an undisclosed Interstate, which the man then gives and suggests that woman stop by a little country store to try some of Miss Belle's sweet tea. The man then regrets sending the woman away without even asking for her name. However, he later sees the woman return to his stand per the suggestion in the Miss Belle verse, who also happens to be his mother ("When she stopped in and asked Miss Bell for some of her sweet tea, Mama gave her a big 'ol glass and sent her right back here to me").
The Potawatomi tribesmen were ousted a year later in the 1833 Treaty of Chicago, which was implemented two years after its ratification, and faced relocation. The Half Day area experienced an economic boom with the arrival of new settlers during the two decades after Wright's arrival. Among these pioneers were Seth Washburn, the first postmaster of the Vernon Township, who settled at the site of what later became the Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103's Half Day Intermediate School, and Laura Sprague, the first teacher to reside in the area. By 1855, 21 years after the settling of the Half Day area by Wright, the town was a thriving community with a blacksmith's shop, sawmill, country store, and a church.

Jack Dunham (September 19, 1910 – August 16, 2008) was an American animator and television producer who worked for Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walter Lantz Productions during his career. Dunham was born in Bismarck, North Dakota, on September 19, 1910. He began his career by working on animated shorts of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit for Walt Disney in 1932 and later with Walter Lantz at Walter Lantz Productions. Dunham also worked as an animator on several other Walter Lantz Production cartoons, including Night Life of the Bugs and The Fun House, which were both released in 1936, and Dumb Cluck and Duck Hunt, which were both produced in 1937. He also worked on an episode of Meany, Miny and Moe and The Country Store, which was released in 1937.
Late the following month the state announced it would appeal that decision. In mid- September Jaclyn Schnurr, the wife and daughter of Brian Hough and James Schnurr respectively, the two pedestrian victims, filed suit in Supreme Court for Cayuga County. In addition to Hussain and Mavis as defendants, she named the Apple Barrel Country Store, whose parking lot she had been in with her husband and father when the Excursion struck them just feet away from her, claiming that the store should have put up barriers to prevent crashes into its parking lot since it knew that the intersection was dangerous. The accident was not the first time vehicles that could or did not stop at the bottom of the hill had gone into the store's parking lot.
By the late 1990s, the station was threatened with demolition to make way for an expansion of the Carilion bio- tech campus resulting in its placement on the Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation's 2000 list of Most Endangered Sites. Operating as the Depot Country Store, on January 29, 2001, the former station suffered severe damage as a result of a fire. Despite the extensive damage, the station was cited for both its unique design and contribution to the railroad industry in Roanoke, and has been listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register since April 2003 and the National Register of Historic Places since June 2003. After the heyday of train travel in the 1920s, by the 1940s the Roanoke station served four passenger trains daily, two east and two west-bound.
The third floor presents examples of rooms from Québécois homes in the early 1900s; there are three from a bourgeois household, and several from the home of a well-off farmer, using the real furniture from his estate, as well as an example of a rural schoolroom, country store, optician's office, and the offices of a parish priest, notary, doctor and dentist. There is an exhibit on the work of l'Abbé Maurice Proulx, a pioneer in Québécois cinema and a former educator at the School of Agriculture. The second floor presents the animals of the region, as well as a visiting exhibition which changes each year. Finally, on the first floor is the history of maple syrup production, a display of the tools of several crafts practiced in the region, an exhibit of modes of transportation, and examples of agricultural machinery.

In 1936 he painted a mural called "Commerce" for the Flushing branch of the Queens Borough Public Library A critic for the New York Times pointed out this mural's "realistic illustrational" style noting that it depicted "rural fields and the Manhattan skyline, with crowds of dock loaders and businessmen flanking the central image of an artist (possibly Celentano himself) sitting at a drafting table, a worker among workers." In 1938, commissioned by the Treasury Department's Section of Painting and Sculpture, he made a mural called The Country Store and Post Office for the U.S. Post Office in Vidalia, Georgia. He also made murals for two high schools, Andrew Jackson (1940) and St. Albans (1941), both in Queens. In 1940 he painted a large mural called "Children in Constructive Recreation and Cultural Activity" in Public School 150 (Long Island City, Queens).
Among its early historical buildings was The Bayard Inn. Opened in 1899 by Juliet Wing, a Union soldier's widow, as a combined general store and hotel, called The Wing Hotel, the Inn flourished until its closure in 1947, when it became a mix of residence and business with a post office and brothel on the ground floor. A proposal to designate the building, then known as the Bayard Country Store, as an historical landmark failed in December, 2001, when the owner wished to sell the building and protested its designation. In order to pass the building under owner protest, Jacksonville's Historic Preservation Commission would have had to find that the building sufficiently met the city's criterion, but it did not, although it did find that the building was a "significant reminder" of the city's heritage and was worthy of preservation.
The U.S. Highway heads north parallel to the Maryland and Delaware Railroad to the town of Frankford, which was founded around a country store and the site of the Gothic Revival home of Captain Ebe Chandler. The highway crosses Vines Creek, the southernmost of several Indian River tributaries the route crosses, and passes along the western edge of the town. US 113 continues northwest parallel to the rail line, which north of Frankford is operated by the Delmarva Central Railroad as the Indian River Subdivision line. US 113 next comes to the town of Dagsboro, which is named for French and Indian War and American Revolutionary War general and major Sussex County landowner John Dagworthy. The highway crosses Pepper Creek and intersects DE 26 (Clayton Street/Nine Foot Road), which heads east to Bethany Beach, while it passes through the western fringe of the town.
Born in Faison, in Duplin County, North Carolina to William Edward Hill and Frances Diana Hill, John Sprunt Hill left school at age twelve, to work as a clerk in a country store for four years. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and one of the co-founders of the Order of Gimghoul, and graduated maxima cum laude in 1889 with a Ph.B. For two years, Hill taught at Faison High School, until he began attending law school at UNC in 1891. In 1892, he moved to New York City to complete his degree at Columbia University. Hill graduated from Columbia Law in 1894 and was admitted to the New York bar association and began practicing estate law, becoming a well-regarded and successful lawyer with his own firm, Hill, Sturcke & Andrews, by January 1895.
After hearing this news, he returned to the United States and settled in Dubois County after purchasing of land. He then sold the land a few years later and moved to Louisville, Kentucky. After three years there, he returned to Dubois County, bought a farm and kept a country store. He then sold the farm one year later and bought another, two years after, to return to farming. Henry’s dream came true after he found a plot of land that he could see would develop into a town. The first post office was established under the name Worth, which ran from 1848 to 1861. On November 27, 1865, the town of Schnellville was platted, and a new post office was established in 1869, which ran until it was discontinued in 1962. Henry Schnell built a saw and flour mill in 1876 along with the purchase of 500-600 acres of farmland.
Harvick's car always displayed the Earnhardt stylized number 3 on the "B" posts (metal portion on each side of the car to the rear of the front windows) above the number 29 until the end of 2013, when he departed for Stewart-Haas Racing. Fans began honoring Earnhardt by holding three fingers aloft on the third lap of every race, a black screen of No. 3 in the beginning of NASCAR Thunder 2002 before the EA Sports logo, and the television coverage of NASCAR on Fox and NASCAR on NBC went silent for each third lap from Rockingham to the following year's race there in honor of Earnhardt, unless on-track incidents brought out the caution flag on the third lap. Three weeks after Earnhardt's death, Harvick, driving a car that had been prepared for Earnhardt, scored his first career Cup win at Atlanta. On the final lap of the 2001 Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500, he beat Jeff Gordon by .
He studied business and then began clerking in a country store in Joplin and soon became a salesman with the Campbell-Redell Wholesale Grocery Company. He remained in the grocery business for thirty years, except when he was briefly with the Ozark Coal and Railroad Company at Fort Smith, Arkansas. As a representative of the Cudahy Packing Company, Shaw moved to Los Angeles in 1909. Prior to World War II and Cold War-era expansions of nearby military bases and defense industries, and white flight from the nearby cities of Hampton and Newport News following the racial integration of schools that rapidly turned the area into a bedroom community, Poquoson was a sleepy rural area with many small family farms, commercial wharves, seafood packing houses, and boat yards that built and repaired log canoes, oyster buy-boats, and Chesapeake Bay deadrise work boats used by the local waterman. The annual Poquoson Seafood Festival which celebrates Poquoson's heritage is the biggest event in Poquoson. Events at the Friday - Sunday festival include work boat races, singers/bands, vendors, food, crafts, children's entertainment, carnival rides, and sometimes even fireworks.
