Nan Irene Ahearn Talese was born in 1933 to Thomas J. and Suzanne Ahearn of Rye, New York. Her father was a banker. Talese attended the Rye Country Day School and graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, Connecticut. She was a debutante presented at the 1951 Westchester Cotillion.

Founded in 1949 (1) by Miss Mary-Stuart Montague Price, (2) one of the grande dames of Washington society. “Studie,” as she is affectionately known, continues to serve as Chairman Emerita. Hundreds of young ladies, their families, friends, and escorts have "had a ball" at Washington’s oldest and most prestigious debutante presentation. In the past, “coming out parties” were a rite of passage, where young woman were presented to polite society. "Railroad" is the first solo single released by Maurice Gibb, best known as a member of the Bee Gees. It was released in April 1970. Like the Bee Gees' songs from 1967 to 1972, the single was released by Polydor in most parts of the world while in the US and Canada it was released by Atco. In Canada it was also released by Atlantic and Cotillion.
Later that year, Malaco released its first gospel record, "Gospel Train" by the Golden Nuggets on Atlantic's Cotillion label. Also in 1973, King Floyd's "Woman Don't Go Astray" made No. 5 R&B.; When Dorothy Moore recorded "Misty Blue" in 1973, Malaco got rejection slips trying to shop the master to other labels. Two years later, Malaco was just about broke and desperate for something to sell.
Rundstrom was administered doses of intravenous vitamin C. He lived a year-and-a-half longer than doctors expected. A fully reunited Split Lip Rayfield embarked on another tour and played what was billed as its final show on December 8, 2006, Live at the Cotillion Ballroom, in Wichita. Rundstrom died on February 22, 2007 in Wichita. He is survived by his father, wife, and two daughters.

In 1892, Dyer and his wife were included in Ward McAllister's "Four Hundred", purported to be an index of New York's best families, published in The New York Times. Conveniently, 400 was the number of people that could fit into Mrs. Astor's ballroom. Dyer, a renowned dancer and cotillion leader, was known as "one of the most popular men in the Newport Summer colony" and was an undisputed leader of society.

Loaded is the fourth studio album by American rock band the Velvet Underground, released in November 1970 by Atlantic Records' subsidiary label Cotillion. Despite having a number of singles originate from it, the album itself failed to chart. It was the final album recorded featuring founding member and main songwriter Lou Reed, who left shortly before its release. Other founding members Sterling Morrison and Maureen Tucker would leave in 1971.
From the earliest days, the dances and the music that accompanied them were brought to The United States by the people of the British Isles, continental Europe, and Africa. The Virginia Reel, based on the "Sir Roger de Coverly" became popular after the French Revolution. In 1983, Boone and LaFalce wrote the songs “This is Your Time” (RFC/Atlantic 89883) and “Magical Night” (Atlantic/RFC Records DMD 631) for the album This is Your Time by Change.

French settlers brought music with them when inhabiting what is now Quebec and other areas throughout Canada. Since the arrival of French music in Canada, there has been much intermixing with the Celtic music of Anglo-Canada. French- Canadian folk music is generally performed to accompany dances like the jig, jeux dansé, ronde, cotillion, and quadrille.

The label was formed as an outlet for blues and deep Southern soul; its first single, Otis Clay's version of "She's About a Mover", reached the R&B; charts. Cotillion's catalog quickly expanded to include progressive rock, folk-rock, gospel, jazz and comedy. In 1976, the label started focusing on disco and R&B.
A few international travel representatives have been selected to exclusively represent a region in offering travel packages to the Life Ball. A notable event at the 2013 Life Ball was Barbara Eden appearing, wearing her Jeannie outfit. In November 2015, Keszler said that there would be no Life Ball in 2016, and that the next ball would be held in the summer of 2017. However, the Red Ribbon Cotillion will still be held that year.
It sold a million copies by March 1971. Uni released an album from Green, but the follow-up single did not sell well and Green eventually left MCA, also parting company with Armstead. He then signed with Atlantic Records subsidiary, Cotillion Records, which released five singles from Garland, but only one proved a real success, "Plain and Simple Girl". Produced and arranged by Donny Hathaway, this reached the R&B; Top 20.

McDonald and Giles is an album of music released by British musicians Ian McDonald and Michael Giles in 1971. The album was first issued on Island Records (ILPS 9126) in the UK and in the US as Cotillion Records (SD 9042), a division of Atlantic Records. The album was recorded at Island Studios between May and July 1970. Although McDonald and Giles remains popular among King Crimson fans, its commercial success was limited.
The Cotillion Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually at Parx Racing and Casino in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. It is run in late September or early October as a prelude to the annual Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships. The race is open to three-year-old filles, willing to race one and one-sixteenth miles (eight and a half furlongs) on the dirt. The Grade I event carries a purse of US$1 million.
The festival has its roots in May Day, or Mayfete. Mayfete was a time when students would celebrate the "renunciation of the May Queen of the temporal world for a spiritual one," according to a 1951 history of the event. Although little is known about the early days, May Day was originally a celebration of the women of Northwestern. The crowning of the May Queen was the central event, and the pomp included a Maypole dance and cotillion.
Untapable (foaled 13 February 2011) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed promise as a two-year-old in 2013 when she won two of her four races including the Pocahontas Stakes and was placed in the Starlet Stakes. In 2014 she emerged as a top-class racehorse, winning the Rachel Alexandra Stakes, Fair Grounds Oaks, Kentucky Oaks, Mother Goose Stakes, Cotillion Handicap and Breeders' Cup Distaff and was named American Champion Three-Year-Old Filly.

In 1924, they gave a party for Prince Valdemar and his son, Prince Viggo of Denmark at their home in Pelham Manor.

Tapit's other notable offspring include champions Stardom Bound, Hansel and Untapable, and 2014 Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist. Frosted's dam Fast Cookie won on turf and dirt, at sprint and longer distances, including a win in the Cotillion Handicap. She produced three winners from her first three starters: sprint winner Macaroon, also by Tapit, and With Sugar On Top by Unbridled's Song.
She debuted in a cotillion dance as a Teen Artist of Star Magic Batch 2010. Arriving at the Star Magic Ball, accompanied by her date Ivan Dorschner, she wore a designer gown and later changed to one of her own designs for the after party. She attended the 2011 Star Magic Ball in her own design with her date, her good friend, Jenny Kim. She's been attending the annual ball in her own designs since then.
The Hotel George Washington, in its heyday, was the center of cultural activities in Jacksonville. The George Washington Auditorium, built in 1941, was the biggest concert hall in town at the time (replacing the Duval County Armory), big enough for classical music events and cotillion balls. The Hotel housed a steak house, a cocktail lounge, a dance hall called the Rainbow Room, a Rexall drugstore and a barber shop. Charles Lindbergh stayed at the George Washington while visiting Jacksonville.

On 1 Feb 2013 he returned to Club Passim (formerly Club 47) in Cambridge, Mass. His first album in 45 years, Curbside Cotillion, was released in 2012, his first recording as Jack Landrón. He is featured in the documentary For the Love of the Music: the Club 47 Folk Revival (2013). On 19 Dec 2014 Landrón spoke at the Cambridge Forum in Harvard Square, Massachusetts, about his experiences during Freedom Summer's voter registration drive in Mississippi in 1964.

Produced by Nile Rodgers,Billboard – March 23, 1985 this album reached number nineteen in the UK charts. The change in Lafayette Street's history is epitomized by the construction of the Schermerhorn Building in 1888 to replace the Schermerhorn mansion, where Mrs. William Colford Schermerhorn had redecorated the interior to resemble Louis XV's Versailles, it was thought, to give a French-themed costume ball in 1854 for six hundred New Yorkers,, p.723 at which the German Cotillion was introduced in America. The most popular exterior color for 1991 was Cotillion White, with 2,967 models; while the least chosen color was Medium Dark Gray, of which only 58 were manufactured. Of the 10,057 Coupe de Villes, 3,397 were Spring Edition models.

The complications that ensue are reflected in the title: a cotillion was originally a dance for four couples.
Embellish the Lace competed in her first race at Aqueduct Racetrack on November 16, 2014, where he finished in 5th. She won her next two races at Parx Casino and Racing and at Pimlico Race Course on December 13, 2014 and on June 4, 2015. Embellish the Lace's first and only major win came at the 2015 Alabama Stakes. Her next race would prove to be her final as she suffered a leg injury when finishing fifth in the 2015 Cotillion Handicap.
From 1870 to 1889, however, Postlewaite published or republished probably seventeen compositions. His last composition was published in 1880, "The Veiled Prophets Grand March," which was written for and performed at that year's Veiled Prophet Pageant. Over the span of his career, Postlewaite formed several bands, including Postlewaite's Quadrille Band (1857), Postlewaite's Cotillion Band (n.d.), Postlewaite's Four-Man Band (1862), Postlewaite's Orchestra (1873), The National Band (1873), the St. Louis Great Western Band (1874), and the Great Western Reed and String Band (1875).

The African Methodist Episcopal churches in Maryland were home to singing traditions using the shape-note method. By the turn of the century, the middle classes of Maryland were holding regular dances featuring the cotillion, quadrille, schottische, polka and waltz. Eastern European dances were also popular, brought by immigrants from various countries. Many immigrants in Maryland moved to Baltimore, forming their own distinct neighborhoods with German liederkranz singing societies, and Irish St. Patrick's Day parades and Jewish chants flourished among their respective communities.

At age three, she won five stakes races including the Santa Anita Oaks, Mother Goose and Cotillion Stakes. She was also third in both the Kentucky Oaks and Breeders' Cup Distaff. In 2019 at age four, she has won seven straight stakes races including the Grade I Apple Blossom, Ogden Phipps, and Personal Ensign.

When she raced at age three, Sacahuista's official record shows she won two of nine starts but in fact she finished first in both the Cotillion Handicap and the Ruffian Handicap but was disqualified for interference. Under jockey Randy Romero, she then won the Grade I Spinster Stakes before capturing the Breeders' Cup Distaff at Hollywood Park Racetrack. Sacahuista's 1987 performances earned her the Eclipse Award as American Champion Three-Year-Old Filly. Before being retired to broodmare duty, Sacahuista raced three times at age four.

Perfect Combination is both the sixth album and a collaboration album by American contemporary R&B; singers Stacy Lattisaw and Johnny Gill, released on February 13, 1984 via Cotillion Records. The album peaked at #139 on the Billboard 200. Three singles were released from the album: "Perfect Combination" / "Heartbreak Look", "Block Party" and a cover of The Shirelles' "Baby It's You". "Perfect Combination" / "Heartbreak Look" was the only single from the album to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #75 in 1984.
Lord Sutch and Heavy Friends is the debut album of English rock singer Screaming Lord Sutch. Recording began in May 1969 at Mystic Studios in Hollywood and it was released on Cotillion Records in 1970. The album featured an all-star line-up with contributions from Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page (who also produced the album) and John Bonham, guitarist Jeff Beck, session keyboardist Nicky Hopkins, session guitarist Deniel Edwards and Jimi Hendrix Experience bassist Noel Redding. Débutante balls exist in nearly every major city in the United States but are more common and larger affairs in the American South. The Christmas Cotillion in Savannah, Georgia, first held in 1817, is the oldest débutante ball in the United States. Many cities such as Dallas and Atlanta have several balls in a season. Dallas, for example, is home of the traditional Idlewild organisation, as well as more modern organisations such as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Presentation Ball and La Fiesta de las Seis Banderas, both of which benefit charities.

At the gallery, CeCe decides to take matters into her own hands and attempts to bribe Rufus by offering to purchase every painting in the gallery in return for convincing Dan to revoke escorting Serena.
As Cotillion proceeds, Serena discovers the change in her presentation statement and is angered to discover her mother's involvement in it. Carter messes with her statement and extensively humiliates her mother, her grandmother, and the announcer. While dancing, Chuck tells Nate that Carter just flirted with Blair and Nate accidentally starts a brawl that results in him and Carter being escorted out by security. The brawl damages Blair's dress, and she persuades Jenny to fix the dress in return for forgiveness causing Jenny to miss her mother's art exhibition.
Beginning with the winter 1885-1886 social season in New York, the Patriarchs began throwing a ball each year, known as the Patriarchs Ball, which was modeled on the Almack's Ball of the British aristocracy. Each member of the Society was entitled to invite nine people, four ladies and five gentlemen, to the ball, thereby making invitations difficult to obtain and subsequently establishing the invitees as deemed fit for society. The first Patriarchs Ball was held on December 13, 1881 at Delmonico's, with 375 guests and Col. DeLancey Astor Kane led the first cotillion.
The plots collide when Adjunct Lorn releases a Jaghut Tyrant, a powerful ancient being, with the aim of either damaging Anomander Rake seriously or forcing him to withdraw from the city. The Tyrant is eventually imprisoned inside an Azath House after a fierce battle with Rake's people, while Rake himself defeats a demon lord that Lorn releases inside the city. A substantial subplot involves a young Bridgeburner named Sorry. She is known as a cold-blooded killer but is in fact possessed by Cotillion, also known as the Rope, a deity and patron of assassins.
Mal struggles with her new celebrity life as the girlfriend of King Ben, putting a spell on her hair making it blonde, and uncomfortably maintaining a princess-like personality. She confides her issues in her friends Evie, Carlos, and Jay, but they are content with their new lives in Auradon and do not wish to return to the Isle of the Lost. Evie scolds Mal for relying on her mother's spell book to solve her issues. Carlos, wishing to ask Jane to the upcoming Cotillion dance, turns to Mal for help with honesty.
She had an ankle injury that caused her to miss most of the 2018 season. The break paid off though as she won the August 4th, 2018 Grade-1 Test Stakes upon her return.. This was her only win of the 2018 season, after a disappointing fourth place finish at the Grade-1 2018 Cotillion Handicap. Her 2019 season was limited to only three races, with her only victory being at the Grade-3 Bed O' Roses Invitational Stakes. Her final race was a fourth place finish at the 2019 Ballerina Stakes.

Benton recorded the song in November 1969 with arranger/producer Arif Mardin. Session personnel on the record included Billy Carter on organ, Dave Crawford on piano, Cornell Dupree and Jimmy O'Rourke on guitar, Harold Cowart on bass, Tubby Ziegler on drums, and Toots Thielemans on harmonica. Included on his "come-back" album Brook Benton Today, the melancholy song became an instant hit.

From 2006 to 2010 it was called the Fitz Dixon Cotillion to honor Fitz Eugene Dixon Jr. of the prominent Widener family of Philadelphia, who have been major figures in Thoroughbred racing since the early part of the 20th century. This race, which was inaugurated in 1969 at Liberty Bell Park in Northeast Philadelphia before thoroughbred racing moved to the then-Keystone Racetrack (later known as Philadelphia Park) in nearby Bensalem in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has produced multiple Eclipse Award winners including Shuvee, Susan's Girl, Revidere, Ashado, Havre de Grace and Untapable.
The last two major U.S. publishers to produce the shorter "traditional" Regencies regularly were Zebra and Signet. This ended in 2005, when Zebra stopped their traditional Regency line, and early 2006, when Signet ended its Regencies. There are some new "traditional" Regencies still published in the United States; some of the few publishers that still do so are Avalon Books, Five Star Books, and Cerridwen Press (Cotillion). Previously published Regencies are also available through the second-hand book market, via Belgrave House (which publishes out- of-print books), and as e-book reprints.

She was the 2015 American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly after being undefeated in four starts, including Grade I victories in the Del Mar Debutante Stakes, Chandelier Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She was undefeated against three-year-old fillies in 2016 including the Grade I Santa Anita Oaks, Coaching Club American Oaks, Alabama and Cotillion Stakes.
Racing Manager, Dennis Yokum (buying on behalf of Mercedes Stables), purchased Seattle Smooth in the 2006 Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale for $340,000. As a three-year-old, Seattle Smooth defeated eventual Eclipse Award winner Proud Spell in the Grade II Cotillion Handicap. In 2009, the four-year- old Seattle Smooth came into her own, after Yokum switched her from the artificial surfaces of the West Coast to the dirt tracks of the East Coast. Major wins include G2 Bed O' Roses Handicap, G2 Shuvee Handicap, and she turned the tables on Seventh Street in the G1 Ogden Phipps Handicap.

In the Grade I, 1 1/4-mile Alabama Stakes at Saratoga on August 21, a showdown between Blind Luck and the odds-on choice, Devil May Care, believed to be the best 3-year-old filly on the East Coast, never materialized as Devil May Care finished 4th. Instead Blind Luck ran down Havre de Grace, her foe from the Delaware Oaks, to win by a neck. On October 2, Blind Luck faced Havre de Grace again in the Grade II Cotillion Stakes at Parx. Second choice Havre de Grace held off Blind Luck by a neck.

She has also been a frequent host for community and charity-based organizations in the Greater Toronto Area including Design Hope Toronto's charity auction for Dixon Hall, the Osu Children's Library Fund, the Jamaican Canadian Association Scholarship Awards, the Applause Institute's Black Cotillion Ball, Jamaica College Old Boys' Association of Canada, CareerEdge Organization and the African Canadian Achievement Awards. She is a former board member of Give Girls A Chance, a fundraising initiative created to provide educational opportunities for girls and young women in Canada and around the world.
The African American community has a long tradition of charitable events and activities since the early 20th century. A large portion of these activities happened during social events and formal activities, namely, cotillions and debutante balls. It was at these events that those African Americans who had the means to expand their wealth were able to meet with other successful African Americans, and make social and political and economic connections. These formal cotillion and debutante balls still thrive as a viable outlet for those seeking success to participate in one of the most traditional vestiges of the African-American upper class.
After 1901, the magazine continued to chronicle the social events and leisure activities of the North American landed aristocracy, including debutante or cotillion balls, and also reported on the subsequent "advantageous marriages" that came from people meeting at such social engagements. The magazine's earlier readership consisted of members of the Establishment. This included older wealthy families of New York City, Boston Brahmins and, later, those people in other parts of the United States whose surnames may have appeared in the Social Register (established 1887). Willis owned and edited the magazine from 1846 until his death in 1867.
Monomoy Girl (foaled March 26, 2015) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse who was the American Champion Three-Year-Old Filly of 2018. She showed very promising form as a juvenile in 2017 when she won her first three races before being narrowly beaten in the Golden Rod Stakes. In the following spring she took the Rachel Alexandra Stakes and the Ashland Stakes before winning the Kentucky Oaks, the filly equivalent of the Kentucky Derby. She followed this up with wins in the Acorn Stakes and Coaching Club American Oaks, but was disqualified to second for interference in the Cotillion Stakes.
Smok'n Frolic's first race was on April 13th, 2001, at Keeneland, where he came in fourth. She then won her next two races at Belmont Park, winning a Maiden Special Weight race and the 2001 Fashion Stakes She raced in the Spinaway Stakes coming in 2nd, and picked up his first graded win at the 2001 Tempted Stakes. She followed that victory up with another win the following month at the 2001 Demoiselle Stakes. She competed in multiple stakes races throughout 2002, but did not win any until she won the 2001 Cotillion Handicap in October.

It became a residence for squatters, artists and bohemians, who used it as studio space, and occasionally private invite-only parties were given. In 1979, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Cotillion Hall. In 1997, the ballroom was re-opened by McMenamins, featuring a bar/restaurant on the first floor, a brewery and a new dance floor on the second floor, and the restored main ballroom on the third floor.

He has said that religion or any sense of religious identity was completely absent in his childhood. To illustrate this, he has often recounted in interviews an antisemitic incident that occurred when he was young: he was invited by a classmate to be her date to a cotillion at her Los Angeles country club. Mrs. Jennings invites both Elinor and Marianne to London with her during the winter, and Marianne, in hopes of reuniting with her beloved Willoughby, happily accepts; Elinor is only reluctantly persuaded after much entreaty and persuasion from her mother and Marianne. In London, Marianne improperly writes several letters to Willoughby, telling him that she had arrived in London and requesting him to come and visit her at the residence of Mrs. Jennings. Willoughby does not respond, throwing Marianne into despair. Elinor and Marianne then encounter him by chance at a cotillion and Marianne confronts him for not replying to her letters.
Jon Cole, who was one of the driving creative forces in the band, left several months after the album release to pursue other production projects in which he had an interest. In 1993, hip-hop female trio Salt-N-Pepa used Margie's 1970s single "Your Sweet Lovin'" for their hit single "None of Your Business".

My Miss Aurelia (foaled 16 March 2009) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year-old in 2011, she was unbeaten in four races including the Adirondack Stakes, Frizette Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies and was voted American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly at the Eclipse Award. After missing the early part of the following season through injury she took her winning run to six with two more victories including a win over Questing in the Cotillion Stakes. She sustained her first defeat when second to Royal Delta in the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic and was beaten in her only subsequent race that year.

It is mentioned that he turned his back on his parents and so was left without a trust fund and was forced to take matters into his own hands by shaping his own future, something that Carter reveals to Serena a week before the cotillion. In the second season, Carter resurfaces in New York with the mysterious Elle but ends up being involved with Blair and sleeps with her, contributing to her downward spiral. He soon leaves New York as Serena and Chuck intervene.

At something of a crossroads in their careers, the future seemed a little uncertain for the group, but Atlantic Records connected them with producers Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards of the band Chic, and the situation changed. After some initial challenges to working collaboratively, the breakthrough album We Are Family was recorded and released by Cotillion on January 22, 1979. The lead single "He’s the Greatest Dancer" charted at number one R&B; and was a number-nine crossover hit. In 1979, the record's anthemic title track "We Are Family" followed and became a worldwide smash charting at number two pop and number one R&B.

During late 1975 and spring of 1976, trombonist Floyd Miller teamed with trumpeter Steve Washington to form Slave. The original line-up included Tom Lockett Jr. (tenor and alto sax), Carter Bradley (keyboards), Mark Adams (bass), Mark "Drac" Hicks (lead and rhythm guitar, background vocals), Danny Webster (rhythm and lead guitar, lead and background vocals), Orion "Bimmy" Wilhoite (alto and tenor sax), and Tim "Tiny" Dozier (drums). They scored their first big hit with the single "Slide" in 1977 for Cotillion Records, which is the label they remained with until 1984. In 1978 Slave's sound changed slightly when drummer/percussionist Steve Arrington, along with vocalists Starleana Young, Curt Jones, and keyboardist Ray Turner joined the band.

On the occasion of the XVIII International AIDS Conference that is beginning one day after the big event in Vienna, this year's Life Ball will be very special. On the 17th of July Europe's biggest AIDS charity event not only takes place in the Vienna City Hall and on City Hall Square, but also at the Burgtheater (the former imperial court theatre) and the Parliament. The “concept of the three houses” unites three extraordinary events and important organizations; the amfAR gala in the Parliament, the Elton John AIDS Foundation at the Red Ribbon Cotillion in the Burgtheater, and the William J. Clinton Foundation at the traditional Life Ball in the Vienna City Hall.
Civic and cultural development in Harlingen has kept pace with the growth of the community. Fraternal orders and civic organizations operating in the community include Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, Optimist, 20–30, VFW, American Legion, and the Lower Valley Cotillion Club; a woman's building is maintained as a center for the activities of the many woman's clubs active in the city. Development and appreciation of the fine arts are encouraged by organizations such as the Rio Grande Valley Art League, the Art Forum, and the Rio Grande Valley Civic Association, which stages its winter concert series at the 2,300-seat Harlingen Municipal Auditorium. Each March, Harlingen is the site of the Rio Grande Valley International Music Festival.
On May 6 Cathryn Sophia faced Weep No More and Rachel's Valentina again in the Kentucky Oaks, with the other runners including Lewis Bay, Terra Promesa (Fantasy Stakes), Land Over Sea (Fair Grounds Oaks) and Go Maggie Go (Gulfstream Park Oaks). Ridden by Castellano, she raced in fourth before switching to the outside to make her challenge on the final turn. She took the lead, went clear of the field, and won by two and three quarter lengths from Land Over Sea, with Lewis Bay a neck away in third place. She then went on to win the un-graded Princess of Sylmar Stakes on September 3 as a prep for the GI Cotillion.
"A Brand New Day", also known as "Everybody Rejoice", is a song from the 1975 Broadway musical The Wiz written by American R&B; singer and songwriter Luther Vandross. (In 1976 Vandross recorded a version of the song for his album Luther, on Cotillion Records.) In the play, the song is sung to celebrate after Dorothy has killed Evilene, the tyrannical Wicked Witch of the West. Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow sing the song with the newly freed Winkies, who were ruled and enslaved by Evilene. It was later featured in the 1978 film version, sung by cast members Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Nipsey Russell, and Ted Ross (credited as The Wiz Stars).
In 1965 Clay signed with One-derful! Records in Chicago, to make secular recordings. After releasing a series of gospel-tinged soul records, his first hit came in 1967 with "That's How It Is (When You're In Love)", which reached # 34 on the US Billboard R&B; chart, followed by "A Lasting Love" (# 48 R&B;). In 1968 the record company folded and his contract was bought by Atlantic Records, who launched their subsidiary Cotillion label with Clay's version of the Sir Douglas Quintet hit, "She's About A Mover", produced at the FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals. The record became Clay's biggest pop hit, reaching # 97 on the Billboard Hot 100 (# 47 R&B;).

There is a reference in Robert Burns's 1790 poem Tam o' Shanter to the "cotillion brent-new frae France" (brand new from France). Dancing masters differed as to the exact way of doing these dances: some, recognising the affair as an English country dance, taught that the steps and jumps of these were appropriate, while others insisted upon French elegance, recommending the basic step of the gavotte or the minuet. 58th International Debutante Ball, 2012, New York City (Waldorf-Astoria Hotel) A cotillion or débutante ball in the United States is a formal presentation of young women, débutantes, to "polite society", typically hosted by a charity or society. Those introduced can vary from the ages of 16 to 18 (younger ages are more typical of Southern regions, while older are more common place in the North). In some areas 15- and 16-year-olds are called "junior débutantes". One of the most prestigious, the most exclusive and the most expensive debutante balls in the world is the invitation-only International Debutante Ball held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, where girls from prominent world families are presented to high society.

Ridden by Nakatani, she started at odds of 9/5, whilst Questing, who was carrying seven pounds more was made the 2/5 favorite.
In the re-formation of Russian ballet companies after the death of Serge Diaghilev, Lichine became a charter member of Ballets Russes de Monte-Carlo, founded in January 1932 by Col. Wassily de Basil, René Blum, and Serge Grigoriev. Parx East, located in the grandstand of the racetrack Parx Racing and Casino is the home of Pennsylvania's two premier Thoroughbred races, the $1 million (as of 2019) Grade I Pennsylvania Derby and the $1 Million Grade I Fitz Eugene Dixon Cotillion Handicap. The Pennsylvania Derby (which first served as a Memorial Day replacement for the Jersey Derby after the original grandstand at Garden State Park was destroyed by a fire in 1977), was held on Labor Day until 2010 when the race was moved to the last Saturday in September. The term quadrille originated in 17th-century military parades in which four mounted horsemen executed square formations. The word probably derived from the Italian quadriglia (diminutive of quadra, hence a small square). The dance was introduced in France around 1760: originally it was a form of cotillion in which only two couples were used, but two more couples were eventually added to form the sides of a square.
King in Amsterdam, 1973 King's contract with Federal expired in 1966, and his first overseas tour followed in 1967. His availability was noticed by the producer and saxophonist King Curtis, who had recorded a cover of "Hide Away", with Cornell Dupree on guitar, in 1962.
