In addition to the bands that have performed at Water Street, the hall also hosted famous personalities such as President Bill Clinton while in Rochester to raise funds for Hillary Clinton's presidential run, where the saxophone that he used and signed can be seen at the House of Guitars. During these years, Water Street Music Hall had a coat check and hosted many battle of the bands. It also had a bar and a small parking lot.

Before he purchased the building where the Stork Club was, the yearly rent for the space it occupied was $12,000. Billingsley rented out the hat- and coat-check area to a separate concession for $27,000 a year. This paid the rent for the Stork Club, leaving $15,000 annually to cover bad checks. When Ernest Hemingway wanted to pay his bill with a $100,000 check he received for the movie rights to For Whom the Bell Tolls, Billingsley told him he would be able to cash the check after the club closed at 4:00 am.

The funds were used to make alterations that reduced the theater's seating capacity by almost 600 seats and upgraded the stage lighting and audio systems. In 1987, the 2,500-square foot Mandeville Hall was added as an intimate, multi-use "black box" theater suitable for drama, recitals, community functions, lectures and seminars. In 1995, a Facilities Master Plan was created to guide the organization in maintaining and improving the facilities. 1999 saw completion of the first phase, which included renovating and expanding the lobby space to include amenities such as restrooms, an elevator, concessions and a coat check.

Centre Block ablaze in 1916 A fire alarm was raised in the Centre Block on 3 February 1916, at 8:37 pm; something had been seen smouldering in a wastepaper basket in the Reading Room, but as that was not terribly unusual, a clerk was called to assist. However, by that point, the fire had progressed beyond control in the wood-panelled and paper-filled room. The House of Commons was in session that evening and was interrupted by the chief doorkeeper of the Commons calling for evacuation. Some women in the gallery, unaware of the urgency, attempted to reclaim their fur coats from the coat check, and perished.

Boy George (born George Alan O'Dowd, 14 June 1961) (actor uncredited); still a year and a half away from becoming a household name with Culture Club; is a Blitz Kid working in the coat check at Blitz nightclub in Covent Garden when Danny Moore takes DI Alex Drake dancing there on the night of Monday, 27 July 1981. Drake recognises him when he takes her coat and welcomes her to Blitz, happily responding to him, "Thanks, George!" WPC Sharon "Shaz" Granger is presumably acquainted with Boy George, as she frequents the club and considers some of the Blitz regulars to be her best friends.

Meyer is close friends with Phillippe, with whom he and Seth Green share a production company. Meyer would subsequently appear in films including Go (1999) and The Insider (1999) before graduating to a full-fledged leading role in the DreamWorks hit Road Trip (2000), in which he again played a character travelling cross country, a college student hoping desperately to retrieve a videotape of himself having sex with another girl, which was accidentally mailed to his long-distance girlfriend.

Admission to either facility allowed visitors to see exhibits in both buildings, though a planetarium show cost extra.

Grammy award winner, Sylvia McNair, performed for guests after dinner which was held in the new lobby. The new addition included the addition of an elevator that provided handicap access to all parts of the theatre for the first time, eleven offices for staff, a permanent music library for the Mansfield Symphony and Symphony Chorus, expanded restroom facilities, new concession area, two meeting spaces, and a coat check station. On June 27, 2010, the marquee, that had been placed on the building during the 1984 restoration, was removed due to safety concerns. It was donated to the Mansfield Sailors and Soldiers Museum to be put on display at its original site, the area where the Madison Theatre stood.

Abed goes to the dance with both Kat (Wendy McColm) (who Annie met in the cafeteria when Kat tried to buy lunch with a song) and Jessica (Kristen Henry King), attempting to do so without either one knowing of the other. While changing his outfit in the coat room, he meets Rachel (Brie Larson), who is running the coat check, and helps him out with his scheme.

LQ in January 2009 In 2003, Producer Ralph Mercado (who had founded RMM Records & Video) reopened the club at 511 Lexington, at 48th Street, in the Radisson Lexington Hotel on the East Side. Although still known as the Latin Quarter, signage at the club referred to it as "LQ." In December 2004, a fight at the club, during a Ja Rule holiday party, spilled onto the street and one man was fatally shot and another wounded in a dispute that reportedly involved associates of the Inc. Records. On November 29, 2008, former New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers football player Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the right leg while he was standing in an elevator vestibule between the VIP room and the coat check.

At MacLaren's, in April 2013, Ted passes up Barney's invitation to watch Robots Versus Wrestlers: Legends because he has to prepare for class. Barney claims he will regret this in 20 years, and Ted is then shocked when likenesses of Barney and Ted from 20 years in the future appear and try to convince him. A Ted from 20 hours in the future warns present Ted that he will enjoy the event at the expense of a massive hangover and a sprained wrist. Present Ted is convinced about going, but a Barney from 20 minutes in the future holds back the group long enough to see a woman enter the bar; the coat-check girl, whom Ted had not seen for seven years.

After their parents were killed in a car accident, Na Jin-jin (Bae Doona) has lived with her mentally handicapped older sister Na Jin-joo (Oh Hyun-kyung), whom she has supported from a young age. Jin-jin barely ekes out a living juggling a series of dead- end part-time jobs, including delivering newspapers and running a nightclub coat check. One day, the nightclub's regular singer doesn't show up and when Jin-jin is asked to fill in, she performs an impromptu version of Laura Branigan's "Gloria." Jin-jin becomes consumed with the idea of becoming a nightclub singer and sees it as her only hope to escape her humdrum life, saying that she only feels alive when she's onstage.

Henry is jealous to see that Gio has his arm around Betty, and Betty isn't pleased to see Daniel getting cozy with Sandra, just to save the magazine. Betty and Henry almost get caught kissing in the lobby, so they sneak backstage, while Daniel and Sandra sneak into the coat- check room, where Daniel starts having second thoughts about seducing Sandra, who likes the idea of being seduced. Eventually he decides against this but does convince Sandra to advertise in MODE, even though she would pass on a celebration offered by him. Betty and Henry begin to argue over how to handle this relationship, but as they are running around looking for a place to be alone, they find themselves accidentally onstage via Glinda's bubble, shocking everyone in the audience and the cast.

A December 17, 1916 fight at Niblo's Garden led to a panic among some 500 dance patrons when guns were fired and responding police were attacked. Six arrests were made after the incident, which apparently erupted when hall security officers told several youths to discontinue their “extreme styles of dancing.” A 1920 disturbance involved fifty men battling for their garments in the coat check room at Niblo's Garden, the Bronx, resulting in a call to the Bathgate Avenue police station. The crowd was moved to the police station, where twenty-five stolen property complaints were made before the incident was finally sorted and garments returned to proper owners with the exception of a single missing coat. A sales notice in July, 1922 transferring the property to Assets Funding Corporation described Niblo's Garden as “fronting 92 feet on Third Avenue and 323 feet on East 170th by 170 feet in depth.
