The record label is notable for releasing early recordings by North Texas musicians who would eventually go on to prominence at a national level (Darlington (singer) (as the band MESS), Bedhead, Baboon, Brutal Juice, UFOFU, Slowpoke, the Grown-Ups and Dooms UK). The label went on to release recordings by out-of-Texas artists, including Secession Movement, Malachai and Michael W. Dean, between 1998 and 1999. The label operated in Dallas's Exposition Park from 1989 to 1995.

Musically, the sound of Clarity has been described as emo, pop punk, and punk rock, with elements of chamber pop and electronica, drawing comparison to Bedhead. Clarity marks the start of Adkins – as opposed to Linton – providing lead vocals. With the exception of the song "Blister", Linton from this point on only provided backing vocals on various tracks until "Action Needs an Audience" off their album Invented (2010). Some of the songs, such as "Table for Glasses" and "Goodbye Sky Harbor", were written by Adkins for the aforementioned side project.

Featuring an "unprecedent pace in the then-flowering underground," I Could Live in Hope helped to birth the genre known as slowcore, which encompassed acts from Bedhead to Codeine throughout the 1990s. Pitchfork placed I Could Live in Hope at number 49 on its 1999 list of the best albums of the 1990s. The same year, critic Ned Raggett ranked it at number 37 on his list of "The Top 136 or So Albums of the Nineties" for Freaky Trigger. In 2004, the album was included in Les Inrockuptibles "50 Years of Rock'n'Roll" list.

After walking the runways of the Asian region and Europe, including Milan, Paris, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, the Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore, where he won the "Male Model of the Year" category at the Singapore Fashion Awards 2004, he headed to New York City. Currently represented by Ford Models, he has appeared in campaigns such as Benetton, Bang and Olufsen, TIGI Bedhead, Motorola, and Macy's, and has walked the catwalks of Versace, Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Gucci, and Boss. The trilogy began with the 1993 ultra low-budget production of El Mariachi. The film was made on a budget of only US$7,000 using 16-millimeter film, was shot entirely in Mexico with a mostly amateur cast, and was originally intended to go directly to the Mexican home-video market (a process detailed in Rodriguez's book Rebel Without a Crew). Reportedly Rodriguez got some funds for the film by offering himself up as a human guinea pig to science labs. Other finances came in the form of prize money won by his short student film, Bedhead, at film festival competitions.

We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes is stylistically regarded as an indie rock album; Gibbard himself classified the band as indie pop. The bleak point of view in the lyrics and despondent tone led to many writers categorizing the album as emo; it has been called an "emo classic." Gibbard and Walla's guitar parts on We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes are different than those of later projects; with Gibbard later highlighting their "cool, spindly guitar-work." During his early 20s, Gibbard was influenced by the downbeat, slowcore music of Bedhead and Codeine.

Trance Syndicate was an independent record label founded in 1990 by King Coffey, drummer of Austin, TX band the Butthole Surfers.Larkin, Colin (1999) "Trance Syndicate Records" in The Virgin Encyclopedia of Heavy Rock, Virgin Books, , p. 454 Its first release was Crust's The Sacred Heart of Crust EP. From 1990 to 1999, when the label closed down, Trance Syndicate released albums by several notable Texan bands and artists, including Bedhead, Ed Hall, American Analog Set, Furry Things, …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and Roky Erickson. Although defunct, Trance Syndicate is survived by the Emperor Jones label, formerly an arm of Trance.

The short film Bedhead attracted enough attention to encourage him to seriously attempt a career as a filmmaker. He went on to shoot the action flick El Mariachi (1992) in Spanish; he shot it for around $7,000 with money raised by his friend Adrian Kano and from payments for his own participation in medical testing studies. Rodriguez won the Audience Award for this film at the Sundance Film Festival in 1993.1993 Sundance Film Festival sundance.org Intended for the Spanish- language low-budget home-video market, the film was "cleaned up" by Columbia Pictures with post-production work costing several hundred thousand dollars before it was distributed in the United States.

"My Idea" was co-written by Brokaw and Tom Morgan and was originally covered by Evan Dando in his 2003 solo album Baby I'm Bored. "I Remember" was co-written by Alan Vega and Martin Rev of Suicide and was originally released as the B-side to their "Cheree" single. Performing with Brokaw in the studio were Jeff Goddard from Karate and Kevin Coultas from Rodan, with both of whom Brokaw had worked in 1996 during the recording of Come's third album, Near-Life Experience, as well as Noah Chasin from Harm Farm, Matt Kadane from Bedhead and The New Year, and David Michael Curry and Jonah Sacks, both from Empty House Cooperative.

However, Loonette didn't believe that there were dust bunnies under the couch. The two lounge around the couch all day, with the exception of the Clock Rug Stretch and daily adventure, sometimes involving Granny or Major Bedhead, a postal service employee who also plays bit parts. Each day includes a few songs and a story (which, when told by Loonette, involves her wearing huge yellow glasses and holding a blue storybook); and is ended with the Ten Second Tidy and a nice nap. The end credits roll as a clown moon rises into the starry background above the couch ending with Loonette and Molly jumping over it (Similar to the ending sequence of The Friendly Giant).

Wiltzie is best known for his work as a founder of seminal ambient classical projects Stars of the Lid, The Dead Texan, Aix Em Klemm and A Winged Victory for the Sullen, he also has recorded, played with, and worked as a live sound engineer for artists such as The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Labradford, Bedhead, The Bad Livers, Windsor for the Derby, Iron & Wine, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Hauschka and Sparklehorse. He has written the original scores for several film and television productions including Salero, The Yellow Birds and Iris. He also collaborated with Jóhann Jóhannsson on his scores for the Theory of Everything (2014 film) and Arrival, and wrote two of the main themes with Dustin O'Halloran in the 2016 Oscar-nominated film Lion.

Each episode contains numerous standard elements that take place throughout the episode. Early in each show, Loonette performs an exercise routine she calls the Clock Rug Stretch, which occasionally has a different variation. Other oft-repeated elements include reading a story to Molly, who sometimes either chooses a story to hear, gives Loonette a book and oversized glasses, or turning on the lights for Loonette; encounters with the dust bunnies who live under the couch; visits to different places in Clowntown, songs that emphasize the episode's lessons or themes, and a trip to Granny Garbanzo's garden and house. Here she encounters Snicklefritz, Granny's cat; Major Bedhead, the local mail-delivery clown, who travels on a unicycle; and of course, Granny herself.

Leading from the Library is the Queen's Room, the former "Best Bed Chamber". This panelled room was redecorated in 1841 for the visit of Queen Adelaide, widow of William IV, when its former function as a state bedroom was resurrected. It contains the great canopied Rococo-style bed in which the Queen slept, complete with the royal monogram "AR" (Adelaide Regina) embroidered on the bedhead. Other rooms on the second floor are mostly bedrooms, which include the Chinese Room (directly above the Tyrconnel Room) with its original hand-painted 18th-century Chinese wallpaper, the Yellow Room (directly above the Blue Room), and the Windsor Bedroom (directly above the School Room), so called following its use by King Edward VIII of the United Kingdom, who became the Duke of Windsor after the abdication crisis of 1936.

The conversation with Granny is often used as the episode's teachable moment, where Granny offers Loonette advice or lessons, often with the help of Major Bedhead, who delivers gifts and messages from Auntie Macassar or Uncle Chester. Towards the end of each show, Loonette finds her belongings cluttered on the floor and loudly wonders, "HEY! WHO MADE THIS BIG MESS?!?", the camera would then zoom in on either Loonette or Molly in which she asks it was either her or Molly (the answer depends in each episode, though it is usually Loonette.) then the camera would quickly pan up and down as a way of saying yes, then Loonette explains it's only fair for them to clean it up, and she performs a fastest clean-up routine called the Ten Second Tidy.

Bedhead's music was generally subdued, with a polyphonic sound based on the interlocking of single-line melodies played by three electric guitars and one electric bass guitar (often played with a capo), nearly always using clean (undistorted) tones, prompting comparisons to the Velvet Underground. According to Allmusic, "What distinguished [Bedhead] was the way it combined [indie rock]'s modest ambitions with careful song construction and rock & roll's sense of grand dynamic excitement. This was the quintessential indie rock band because it delivered some of the best the genre is capable of: workaday vocals that actually work, gorgeous melodies (though uncommercial, this music doesn't have to be indigestible), and dynamics that could crush the listener." The group's vocals were often delivered in such a low key manner that they could be difficult to decipher.

Brokaw has been a member of several bands over the years, most importantly Come and Codeine, though the list includes The New Year, Empty House Cooperative, Consonant, Dirtmusic, Hidden Tooth, Martha's Vineyard Ferries, Pullman, and GG Allin's solo band. Aside from his collaborations with Geoff Farina, Ryley Walker, Jeff Barsky, Holly Anderson, David Michael Curry, and Kevin Mikka, and split EPs with Bastro during his tenure in Codeine and Viva Las Vegas as a solo artist, Brokaw has worked with a number of bands and recording artists, including Cobra Verde, Dave Derby and the Norfolk Downs, Tamikrest, Evan Dando, Fifty Bucks, Gramercy Arms, Jumbo, Tara Jane O'Neil, Hugo Race, The Jeffrey Lee Pierce Sessions Project, Kahoots, Karate, Lemonheads, Loog, Manta Ray, Molasses, 7 Or 8 Worm Hearts, Bedhead, Thurston Moore, Rhys Chatham, Rivulets, Christina Rosenvinge, Rosa Chance Well, Snares and Kites, Via Tania/Tania Bowers, The Boredoms, Willard Grant Conspiracy, and Wrekmeister Harmonies, as well as some of Thalia Zedek's and Steve Wynn's respective solo work, to name but a few.
