Self-portrait Tihamér Margitay (1859–1922) was a Hungarian painter. He was born in Jenke, Austria-Hungary, (today Jenkovice, Slovakia). He painted anecdotic, so-called "parlour pictures", in the style of Jules Bastien-Lepage.

A line of development of narrative art begins with William Hogarth, the English painter. His monoscenic depictions of crucial moments in a narrative were taken up in the 19th century by other British painters. The Victorian terms applied to this style were "subject painting" or "anecdotic" painting.

Anecdotic arpeggios and chromaticism were for his contemporaries a token of modernism, but could be more severely judged nowadays. Sayyid Darwish was personally recorded by three companies: Mechian, a small local record company founded by an Armenian immigrant, which engraved the Shaykh's voice between 1914 and 1920; Odeon, the German company, which recorded extensively his light theatrical repertoire in 1922; Baidaphon, which recorded three adwâr around 1922. His works sung by other voices are to be found on numerous records made by all the companies operating in early 20th-century Egypt.

He learned Interlingua in 1982 and contributed many articles to Interlingua periodicals. In 1988, he compiled his first book in Interlingua, Le Vita Anecdotic del Homines Illustre (The Anecdotal Life of Illustrious Men), followed by Ab le Auro Spiritual del Scena e del Schermo (From the Spiritual Gold of the Stage and the Screen) in 1991, Joieles Spiritual (Spiritual Jewels) in 1995, and Miscellanea, Insolite Creationes Spiritual (Miscellanea, Unusual Spiritual Creations) in 1996. At least 10 other manuscripts by Macovei are currently awaiting publication. In 1999 and 2000, he completed the Dictionario Encyclopedic de Interlingua (Encyclopedic Dictionary of Interlingua).

He was a painter (mostly oils), engraver and muralist, but most of his work was in murals. His early influences were those of his teachers at La Esmeralda. Diego Rivera strongly influenced the anecdotic character of his compositions and José Clemente Orozco, with humanism and themes of the universal. Antonio Rodríguez Luna stated “Messeguer never forgot the social concerns of the old masters, nor the most appropriate method for representing human beings (figuration): but he rejected their followers who were content to repeat what had been created by their predecessors.” His works did not tell stories like that of classic Mexican muralism but they did not betray the movement pictorially or ideologically.

Pliny's chapters on Roman and Greek art are especially valuable because his work is virtually the only available classical source of information on the subject. In the history of art, the original Greek authorities are Duris of Samos, Xenocrates of Sicyon, and Antigonus of Carystus. The anecdotic element has been ascribed to Duris (XXXIV:61); the notices of the successive developments of art and the list of workers in bronze and painters to Xenocrates; and a large amount of miscellaneous information to Antigonus. Both Xenocrates and Antigonus are named in connection with Parrhasius (XXXV:68), while Antigonus is named in the indexes of XXXIII–XXXIV as a writer on the art of embossing metal, or working it in ornamental relief or intaglio.

Jan Brueghel the Elder started the tradition of landscape paintings with decorative scenes in the early 17th century. His style had a strong hold well into the 18th century on the next generations of Flemish painters including Izaak van Oosten, Peeter Gijsels, Adriaen Frans Boudewijns, Pieter Bout, various members of the van Bredael family, Balthasar Beschey, Carel Beschey and finally Théobald Michau. Typical of all their landscapes is the bucolic sense of happiness, and their small figures in anecdotic, detailed poses set against a backdrop of a pleasing landscape or buildings. Landscape with travellers on a path Because of their similarity in subject matter and style, Schoevaerdts' unsigned paintings have been mistaken for those of his master Adriaen Frans Boudewijns and Pieter Bout.

After the Spanish Civil War was a decline of the literature in Asturian Galician, which lost the identity features that were beginning to appear. Folk literature was mixing Galician and Castilian and tended to be anecdotic rather than purely literary. In the 1970s, thanks to the work of authors such as Damaso Alonso, writers of the western end of Asturia began to reaffirm the identity of their language, such as Manuel Garcia Sanchez, known Manolo Galano, particularly concerned about the popular culture of the region and published, in 1994, with Jacinto López Díaz "Vocabulario da Roda" and had published in 1984: "Cuentos Parzamiques". He was a frequent contributor to the magazine Entrambasauguas and published, in 2005, a recast of twenty written contributions to the magazine in the book "Vento d'outono".
